I think one of the most insane Re:vale things is how they somehow managed to create a compelling dynamic for both old and new Re:vale. Maybe it's because I'm in a small circle but what other fandoms can boast loving an old version and new version equally while being narratively satisfied with how the old version ended?

Could Earl Cain Hargreaves, Jonathan Joestar and Earl Ciel Phantomhive have met at some point in time?

Bear in mind this is just a thought that crossed my mind, but the similarities to these two series that Kuroshitsuji bear is quite interesting. What’s really amusing to me is that Count Cain, Phantom Blood and Kuroshitsuji all happen within the space of a few years of one another it seems, or even in the same year.  In Count Cain we are not given a date, but based on the outfit it’s the late Victorian period 1880s to 1900s. Honestly it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s roughly the same years that events of Black Butler. Cain and Ciel and Joeseph all meet and confront various versions of Jack the ripper. Ciel’s outright dating it in Dec. 1888. 

Cain is said to be 17 during the events in his story and given that Cain ends with him still being that age, this means that in 1888 Cain was 17 or had just turned 17 that year and was due to turn 18. Meaning he was born in 1871, four years before Ciel, and only 3 years younger then Jonathan.  Interestingly enough, all events of Phantom Bloods later half take place in 1888 to 1889. If these stories were really in the same universe, the Queen would probably have Ciel looking into a series of murders that seem to be Vamperic in nature, and quiet possibly Earl Hargreaves would wind up on the same trail as the Queen’s Watchdog.  Now wouldn’t that be a fun little mixed up adventure.  Riff vs. Sebastian, Ciel vs Cain, and Jonathan trying to keep two teenagers from being teenagers. Then again Ciel would probably get annoyed with the fact that Cain is damn suave and far more self assured at , and Cain would probably find Ciel’s attitude annoying. Although both would probably like Jonathan, since he’s naturally a sweetheart.  So yeah, kind of interesting that all three series intersect each other so well.

My initial interest in Eternal Poison was based on the main cast's character design, but I've come to the surprising realization that the game called for a large ensemble of artists for the supporting characters' art (mercenaries + rescued guests you can speak to in Isapolis).

Some of these names are well-known, but there are artists going by nicknames which make them hard to track down. Still, I was interested into finding out whom they all are, so I did my best to try and identify them. Take everything regarding artists going by a nickname with a grain of salt.

Tomatika

She is the lead character designer, and she has illustrated the main group of each tale. Her artworks also have variants that make the characters more expressive during cutscenes. She also illustrated the game cover as well as the promotional artworks of the game.

SK

You can recruit and deploy 12 mercenaries in the game. SK did the art for all of them + the musicians playing in Isapolis, as well as a few guest characters. Despite all the art they've done, they're unfortunately only credited as SK.

Hidari

Illustrator for the Atelier series and for Fire Emblem: Shadows of Valentia, among others. He contributed a single guest art for the game.

NA2

It was a complicated search because they're only credited as "NA2" but I'm confident that NA2 is still their Pixiv username, and that they also go by NA2-A5. Other than this they did art for Chain Chronicle.

Shinichiro Otsuka

Character designer for Re:Zero.

Yuki Hayabusa

They've worked on Cardfight!!Vanguard and Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls.

Kinu Komada

They've also done book cover illustrations such as the Japanese edition of the Mistborn trilogy.

Shin Takekawa

He's an author who seems to now have a career drawing erotic yuri.

Hironori Takano

He's worked on several Flight-Plan games other than Eternal Poison such as Black/Matrix.

Takeshi Iizuka

He's also a regular at Flight-Plan and has worked on games like Summon Night and Sacred Blaze.

Enomoto

Enomoto is (allegedly) an artist who also goes by the nickname BND. The most art I could find was a single blog (http://enom.blog32.fc2.com/), and a handful of Doujinshi under her second nickname. I'm confident this is her because of the facial proportions, and especially because of how she draws eyelashes.

I actually looked for her everywhere because I liked the art she contributed to the game a lot.

HAMMER

They did the art for the guests pictures above. I would love to know what else they've worked on, but I couldn't find them.

V8

While his work has changed a great deal, I believe this is Nagai Yuya (artist for Grandblue Fantasy Versus, War of the Visions, Valkyrie Elisium).

I liked his work and knew he went by V8turbocharger on Twitter, so I had a little "what if..." moment reading this art credited under the name "V8". This might be a leap, but I still see a similarity in how he draws lips and noses (moreso in his older work).

Mioto Kurachi

Like Takeshi Iizuka, they're also part of other Flight-Plan games crews.

... and this is just for the human character design, since several more artists have worked on the Majin design (including Yasushi Nirasawa who is well-known for a lot of monster/creature illustrations as well as for his work in the Kamen Rider franchise), and several more have worked on all the background art for the stages you can see in-game.

This game is surprisingly stacked with talented artists including very well-known ones, and it's fortunate there is an artbook because almost none of the names are included in the credit rolls once you finish a route (they might however be listed in the final ending once I finish them all).

i just read this and it was absolutely heartbreaking (also absolutely gorgeous) . About Noelle's growing up through Nebra's eyes.

The sentence of "Unlike the rest of them, that girl possesses her mother's beauty" left me floored. so i'm here with-

Pieces of Acier in her children:

Noelle:

Noelle never actually met her mother aside from the few hours Acier held her for, so pretty much the only things of her mother in her are her Valkyrie suit and her looks. However there's still little things, like the way she scrunches up her nose with a wrinkle in her left eye whenever she finds something unpleasant.

Solid:

Solid, much to his dislike towards him, is the living image of his father. The blue eyes, untamable hair and posture reassemble her father perfectly - a thing which the old man takes pride on. You might say the only thing Solid inherited from Acier is the hair colour. But once Acier's sister read a letter her nephew had sent her and until she saw the signature at the bottom "Solid S."- she genuinely thought her deceased sister had written that letter.

Nebra:

Once again, Lord Silva takes pride in his first daughter inheriting his features aside from the hair colour. However; Nebra is Acier. Having idolised the woman since she could barely walk, Nebra took the stance of her mother. From the way she carries herself to the way she writes on the pages of a book with a black ink old pen, that woman is Acier in all her grace.

Nozel:

Lord Silva is proud of Nozel: from the shape of his eyes to the angle of his jaw and the messiness of his hair, his son inherits perfectly all his traits- but are ruined due to several things. Firstly - though his gaze lacks the same warmth - Nozel's eye colour is not near, like Noelle's, but absolutely identical to the one of his mother's. Secondly, his nose takes the feminine shape of Acier's. Thirdly - and obviously - his hair colour; but lastly, that man's mind is truly Acier's. Mereoleona, especially, noticed. When talking strategy, Nozel tended to make all the decisions her late mentor would, yes, but she especially notices whenever the banter turns lighthearted over a glass of wine. Nozel's witty remarks, or the way he deadpans whenever someone says something stupid; the way he grins when hit by the adrenaline of a good spar. Helena notices too; not because she knew Acier to a sisterly level- she didn't. But because there are things Nozel does when relaxed that, well. Don't seem like him.

Well, he'd always been close to Acier.

You watched the beast stare down at you as you spoke. His hand didn't leave his spear, his expression as flat and expressionless as stone.

It was very familiar. A stirring tide of rage and pain. You didn't need to reach deep to feel it- like a duet, you felt it resonate with something deep within your own chest.

It was twisted, corroded. A free heart shackled. A wandering hound chained to an iron leash, disease-ridden and dying.

However, there was a tacit understanding as the beast stared down at you and you looked him in the eyes. There was no more 'Cu Chulainn'.

That shooting star had burned out along time ago, and had now crashed into the Earth and sat smoldering. A shooting star that had never once felt regret in his life, staring up at an empty sky. Red hot and immobile- rotting and eroding.

That was a good question. One without a clear answer.

A thousand things you could offer. A thousand things you could say. A weapon didn't have wants, a beast didn't have desires, so there was nothing that could be offered or traded in turn. No joy in death, no joy in life. A hollow vessel, unwishing and unwanting.

'BEATHACH': "…Useless."

You felt him muscle past you, leaving the chamber. His heavy footsteps growing more and more distant. The other Lair Servants sat in silence as he vanished away, before you saw the Keeper lean over, taking a weary breath before looking over at the Valkyrie.

KEEPER: "….Brynhildr, please."

BRYNHILDR: "He won't come back. You know that."

KEEPER: "Then at least keep an eye on him, he'll listen to you."

BRYNHILDR: "…Of course."

You watched as the Valkyrie landed on the ground, armored boots clanking against the ground as she disappeared after him. A heavy silence hung over the chamber for a moment, before PTOLEMAIOS cleared his throat. Though you could feel it, a fragile balance having been torn, old wounds beginning to slowly bleed again.

KEEPER: "…Yes. We have to stay on track. The trial--"

The Slayer cut in, her voice heavy and clear.

NIKITICH: "...There is no point in a trial. The Beastmaster is right. Beastmaster Tezcatlipoca is also right and said the same thing. We are useless, with no answers and no progress."

CLEOPATRA: "That's... not what he meant. I'm not sure what exactly, but he wasn't talking about us. Can't you stay focused? We're in the middle of something important, you can project and unload later."

NIKITICH: "Always 'later' with you people. We cannot fight the Void Cell, we stand vigil over a world we plan to abandon… It seems that Sigurd has a solution, that doesn't involve us wallowing in our cowardice. Fine. I will take something. You all do as you please, but I am returning to the Moon. At least there I can pretend I am a hero worthy of my name."

You watched as the Slayer similarly hopped down from her perch, walking past you. She stopped, her back to you as she raised a hand.

NIKITICH: "…I vote that they live. Give them a chance to tell their own story, since we have clearly outlived ours."

She raised her own hand.

CLEOPATRA: "…I say they don't die, but I'm not sure about entrusting the future to them. You made a deal with Duryodhana, right? Come see me then, if you're successful. I'll consider giving up my Key then."

She dropped down from her loge, striding past you. You saw as she reached the door to the chamber, stopping briefly as she took a breath to collect herself, before straightening her posture and heading through. You saw the ADMINISTRATOR, strangely pensive.

ADMINISTRATOR: "…I'm abstaining. There's too much for me to consider. New data. I need to consult with the other Divided Spirits. However, if Freyr Sigurd requires valuable Solar Cell resources for his research, he'd need only put in a formal request."

SIGURD: "…Thank you, Madame Administrator."

Without further response, ADMINISTRATOR didn't head through the door, but vanished away in a blue, digitized light.

SIGURD: "Old friend, you understand my vote. Brynhildr is of the same mind, the defendant should not be killed."

PTOLEMAIOS: "…Then the votes against execution are in the majority in comparison to no negative votes, and several of the Council abstaining their votes…"

PTOLEMAIOS: "...Meaning that the case is closed. The defendant will not be killed, and will be able to resume their activities. The court is adjourned. To the defendant, thank you for your patience. For those of you that stayed, thank you for your service."

He looked over at the only other Lair Servant still in the room, SIGURD, who was sitting back in his seat with his eyes closed, deep in thought.

Normally you'd expect a bit more fanfare, outside of a rather empty and chilly chamber. It seemed like they all reached their own conclusions, and it reached a rather premature end.

You felt a firm hand on your shoulder, as MAX stepped up next to you with a gentle smile.
