I hope you've had a wonderful day, and that you'll be able to bask in all the glory and beauty and love that YOUNG ROYALS has brought into your life (and our lives along with it) for a long, long time. There are no words for how profoundly you and the team behind creating this JEWEL have changed my life.

Since coming into my life completely unexpectedly less than 2 years ago, Young Royals has helped me integrate and heal parts of me that were so far in my past that I'd almost forgotten them. It has helped me embrace so much more of myself in the present, it has helped me be so much more okay with who I am today. It has ignited joy and passions in me that I hadn't known I was capable of feeling. It has gifted me a sense of connection, companionship, and friendships that I know I'll carry with me into the future.

Young Royals has resonated deeply in my soul, and I will forever be grateful for that.

I really want to see a more fucked up version of Charlie in canon. Like, okay, I am a die-hard for sweet bubbly girls in media. But I always see how some people make Charlie actually, oh I dunno... demonic? And it's so refreshing for her type of character. I could honestly see her having low empathy (and we kinda see this with how she handled Angel's situation or even Vaggie's nervousness about taking control on an activity). An exploration of that trait (if it was intended) would be interesting to see for a protagonist, especially when her main goal is about helping others. I would love to see her actually have a level of difficulty in understanding others' feelings from the other residents, sinners, and even her father.

But give her a fucked up side. Not a "she gets more power when she's angey uwu", but a "oh, she's a little fucked in the head". It would give so much to her character that she just doesn't have.

@/murmurmurena (don't wanna bother them so slash there we go) has some fun ideas with Charlie. I highly encourage people to check their stuff out! So many fun dark ideas with her character while also still keeping to her canon personality pretty well! Personally, I think Charlie being a bit more naive to her own messed up traits would work best but her also being aware of these traits can make for some interesting character for her.

THIS FIC, "A Game Between You and I". RIGHT HERE WITH THE FIRST CHAPTER. A bit of spoil for the fic here: but I love how they handled Charlie’s absolute ignorance as to why the idea of Russian roulette is horrifying to Angel Dust. It doesn't feel like her being intentionally malicious or aware that she's the odd man out here. This is also a pretty old fic going by only the pilot, but the point still stands that it was such a fun take for her character!

Charlie is one of my favorite characters in the show in part of the POTENTIAL she could have as being the most bubbly sweetheart character while also being the most messed up character in the show. I can't say I have strong confidence with the show's writing and fully expect them to stick with Charlie being the "nice girl but oh no, don't get her angry or she gets scarwy". Which isn't bad for a character mind you, there's just so much more potential to Charlie outside of that trope, especially when you get into the theories of her either being a doll, Roo's biological daughter, or what have you. And for the MAIN CHARACTER of the show, it would be not only interesting but also bring the spotlight back to her.

There's really no question that the side characters steal the show, particularly all the male characters. If I'm honest, Charlie does not feel like she gets a lot of love from the show itself when she's supposed to be the main character. She feels far more flat compared to the rest of the characters (again, the male cast in this "female-lead" show has more depth than most of the female cast currently. I wouldn't be pointing this tidbit concerning the genders of characters if it weren't for the fact Viv defended Helluva's lack of development with their female cast by saying "Hazbin is a female-lead show and Helluva is a male-lead" and Hazbin ended up with it not feeling female lead (to me) and the male cast just completely stealing the show. I don't normally care about gender stuff, especially since I do personally lean interest towards male characters. But using one show as a defense for poor development of the female characters, and then that show not really holding up with no very interesting well-developed feeling female characters irritates me. It's just very clear that these shows don't seem to care much about the female cast :/)

If you like how Charlie is written that's totally fine. PERSONALLY, I just think they're missing so much opportunity with her character by just making her the standard female character type. I honestly don't have a lot of faith they'll actually do something with Charlie's character though. She's a pretty static character in S1 being the same from start to end. Not changing or learning anything to create any development. What does the end of season Charlie do that start of season Charlie wouldn't do? Fight back? Because we see with the pilot (which is the “first episode”) that Charlie does fight people if pushed like with Katie Killjoy and even Valentino. Static characters can work in media depending on the show or their role. But Charlie is the MC of a show about “bettering one's self”. So to have her as a static with not a lot of strong dilemmas for herself (like we see with Angel Husk Al and even Vox) seems silly. Plus, considering Hazbin is telling a whole story and it's not a fun episodic thing, characters are expected to grow on some level. Or else, what was the point of their hero's journey?

Fit felt incredibly warm. Much warmer than he remembered. Death was the only reason that was reaching his mind. He was gone from this earth. Back in 2b2t, he expected death nearly every day but the island had softened him. He truly believed he would make it long enough to see his beautiful son grow up. To see his children grow up, he remedied. Richas and Sunny were as much his children as Ramon was. Distantly he wondered if he would see the deceased children wherever he ended up. 

The dots seemed to connect when he slowly peeled his eyes open. There were scribbled kids posters on the wall just beyond wherever he was laying. 

Get. Well. Soon. 

No. That couldn't be. He was gone. Fit had failed his mission on the island. Not the one given to him by Madiago but the one he swore to himself; to always be there for Ramon. It was the only damn promise that mattered and he broke it and… his thoughts trailed off. 

Get. Well. Soon. Dad. 

They weren't dead eggs that made that sign. Nor the large portrait below the banner that depicted his three kids. Depicted his hatched kids. They looked lovely but surely this had to be a sick dream or a mocking afterlife. His children weren't hatched yet. But he recognized the tiny sketch of Tubbo and Sunny that lay taped messily to the wall. 

A distant memory floated through his mind as his eyelashes fluttered. Tubbo had been asleep for a while and Sunny had really wanted someone to hang out with. Fit was more then happy too. It was back in the days of Tubchunk. The days of the huge hole and the factory that Sunny loved to spend her days in.

They had laid right down on that dirty floor and scribbled drawing after drawing. Her favorite was the one of their dad. They just drew him at first, grinning and running their little fingers across his drawn circle face. 

Fit had suggested she add herself. But she had shook her little head. He never knew they had taken his advice. 

Fit opened his eyes again, trying his hardest to force them open. Something shifted next to him. 

“You think he's waking up?” 

“Nah, he's probably dead.” 

It sounded like Pac and Tubbo but it couldn't be right? It couldn't be. 

They both laughed and it was soft and quiet. They sounded content. Happy and warm and… Fit opened his eyes the whole way to look at them both. Their bodies were curled into him, sleep tousled hair brushing against his cheeks. Hand in hand they lay, those hands on Fit's chest. Over his heart. His heart which was beating so wildly. 

“I think he's awake.” 

They both looked at him with twin grins, eyes crinkling with joy. 

“Fitchie, you're awake!” 

“I'm alive?” Fit asked carefully. 

“Of course dumbass,” Tubbo scoffed. “We weren't gonna fucking leave you. We need you. The kids need you. Oh they’re gonna be so fucking happy when we tell them you're awake.”

Thank you anon and @darktwistedgenderplural for your amazing insights! I love all of it 💜, and I agree that the range of topics you mentioned were all somehow addressed in season 1 and season 2. The seeds are there.

At the same time, I think it's important to keep in mind that while seeds can be sown (and can often be enough to stir meaningful conversation, as is the case here), not all seeds have to grow into plants. Especially not within the span of 6 episodes.

I remember Lisa Ambjörn mentioning several times how hard it had been for her to cut out parts of the story she would have loved to include, but that simply did not fit in. Ultimately, I'm sure she decided in favor of telling one main storyline, and that one properly - even if that meant that several other angles will not be explored, and some storylines will even be left unfinished.

Lisa is phrasing this pretty clearly in her @thepermanentrainpress interview from 2021:

'My big realization was like, okay but in this project, I am telling this story […]. And in another project in the future, I can tell the other side of it. […] You don’t have to tell everything in one series. Because that’s impossible, and it will make it worse. And I know there’s a huge urge from the fandom, like “Oh, deleted scenes”, you know, wanting to get, like, “What is the answer to that question?” and “Is it like that or like that?” And I welcome all of that, but I like it because it makes people’s own fantasies [imaginations], like I don’t want to give them straight-up answers. When I answer these questions, I’m usually like, “I think like this…” or “Maybe you could interpret it like this.” Because it’s not interesting what the right answer is. The interesting thing is the discussion and that people can have different opinions about the same scene. That’s beautiful. So I want to encourage that.'

So while it is wonderful and inspiring to have these discussions about the strength of material the writers have provided, and about all of its potential, I think it is important to keep in mind that some of those potentials will remain unused. And some storylines will most definitely remain unresolved and be kept open to interpretation. Otherwise, I fear that this fandom's expectations will be disappointed, and I'd hate that to be the dominant feeling once S3 comes out. 💜

After my experience with season 2, I've personally found that having a lot of expectations and predictions about the new season will ultimately limit my experience of watching it. At the end of the day, it is a much better fit for me to remain as open-minded as possible and allow myself to go with the story as it presents itself to me.

Why do you think Lisa is so excited about showing people s3?

For me it’s not just bc it’s obviously cool they got to finish it as they intended to, but also bc she likely got to live her fantasy of semi-destroying the monarchy (at least in fiction) by making Wille choose to resign from his role and making sure August can’t take his place. She is too vocal about her opinion not to let it influence her writing I think.

Would love to be proved wrong bc I still think he is too young to take such a big decision but ultimately it will be either love or duty and I don’t think he is giving up Simon.

This is a really interesting time to be working in the service industry because I've noticed that guests sometimes make a new expression which I can only say I immediately and intuitively understand to mean that they are thinking, "Oh, one of them said 'behind' to to the other! Just like in The Bear!"
