if you use ai to generate album art as a metal musician you're just being obnoxious. even if you can't afford to pay some local teenager to draw a picture of a demon for you and don't want to crop something by gustave doré that's already been used a million times, there's basically no other genre on earth where "take a blurry photo of something random outside" is as normal, accepted, and even expected for album art

Hey it's been a while, let me add some more suggestions!

SerpaDesign is a guy who makes some really amazing habitats for fish, reptiles, and invertebrates, mostly for himself but he's also been contracted a few times to make professional displays. He's very thorough in detailing the process, and even when he's excited, his tone is very chill, making it ideal to fall asleep to.

WuzuClay is a diorama artist who makes tiny clay models of Minecraft scenes! They have a very similar vibe to Thylasso Hobbyer linked above, with soft music playing over crafting.

Tomosteen does stop-motion animation with Legos and other small toys. There's some cartoony eating noises at the end of most videos, but they're unrealistic enough to not make me want to scratch my ears off, unlike some of the other Lego food channels.

Gaming Harry does deep dives into video game lore, mostly for horror games, but like SerpaDesign he maintains a very calm tone throughout the narrations. I particularly like his complete timeline for the Hitman games.

tomatoanus is also in the video game community, but he explains how speedruns work on a technical level. His deadpan delivery works great for both humor, and for keeping his narrations chill enough to fall asleep to. Bonus, he includes a message of affirmation in every video somewhere, and it can be really nice to hear on the harder days.

Finally, Curious Archive does nature documentary-style videos on different animals and ecosystems found in video games and other media. It's super interesting and relaxing; my favorite is the supercut of all of Subnautica videos into an hour-plus documentary.

my favorite YouTube channels for when my brain won't Stop

I have a lot of trouble falling asleep (I've been told this is The ADHD but who knows) so over the years I've ended up with an unofficial list of the best videos on YouTube to fall asleep to, based on my mood

Brain Too Loud - someone tell that idiot (me) to shut up, some of us (me) are trying to sleep!

PBS Eons - instead of the three million other things happening in my head, I'm going to focus on these nerds talking about dinosaurs and ancient humans. I especially like the episode on the Illustrated History of Dinosaurs.

Serena Art - lovely painting tutorials set to lovely music. I can focus on the tutorials and thinking about doing it myself rather than everything else. Galaxy Beyond the Window is one of my favorites.

Brain Too Quiet - I am entirely too aware of my body right now and am veering into sensory overload just from my bedsheets

Luke Towan - soft-spoken Australian man does step-by-step guides on how to make perfect miniature dioramas, sometimes with trains. My favorite is the graveyard.

Buzzfeed Unsolved: True Crime - I could listen to Ryan's theory voice all day tbh. I prefer the true crime episodes to the supernatural ones for sleep purposes because there usually isn't any screaming in the true crime ones. The first episode I ever saw was the Tylenol Murders and its still my go-to.

Oh God Oh Fuck Oh Shit - could be regular anxiety, could be existential dread setting in, either way I am Unhappy!

True Facts - zefrank's well-known and much beloved series of deadpan humor and scientific facts about various animals, plants, and fungi. I have a soft spot for True Facts About the Chameleon (Shamellyon).

An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge - as read by Geoff Castellucci (I've yelled about his voice on here before - phenomenal bass singer). His tone is so smooth and low and comfortable... I link to this one specifically because it's the longest, but he's done other readings, all of which I recommend.

I'm Not Even a Person Anymore - *static noises in the vague shape of a person*

Weightless - the scientifically proven most relaxing song ever created. 10 hour loop because sometimes you need that sort of reassurance.

TARDIS Hum 1 Hour Loop - for when even "Weightless" is too overwhelming.

This is hardly a comprehensive list, and I'm sure some of these suggestions are too busy for some people, but finding these have literally been life-saving for me over the years because I have such a terrible time trying to fall asleep otherwise. Hopefully, someone out there will get a bit of use out of this!
