Happy 21st Anniversary, Brother Bear

Today is the 21st anniversary of

Brother Bear!

It has been 21 years since we seen Kenai become the new brother of Koda after his accidental killing of his mother, trying to avenge his brother,

Sitka, who had become an eagle of guidance, according to his totem.

His brother, Denahi was going to avenge Kenai, but he realized that he was fighting Kenai, in bear form. After that, Kenai lived with Koda, to look after him, as the bear of love, just like his totem!

Meet two of our youngest anthro characters, Koda, the bear, and Cooper, the golden retriever. Even though they’re still too young to have any serious jobs that their grown ups have, they can still have a bit of fun pretending to be doctors and dentists.

comparing Brother Bear with TBT since their Both movies about Brotherhood and also Brother Bear just Randomly popped into my head again today.

I've loved Brother Bear for years I think its a very underrated Disney movie with nice songs cute characters and a cute story.

and I randomly started thinking about it earlier and then started comparing it to TBT since their both strongly focused on Brotherhood.

and I realised that for some reason Brother Bear doesn't bother me as much as TBT does even tho it technically has many of the same faults.

it Rushes over the interesting character Drama and it Rushes a conclusion to said Drama between the Brothers at the end.

like the scene in the main film of Kenai confessing to Koda is still fairly sad but its massively undercut by having the song play over it.

the deleted version of that scene where the song doesn't play and we get to hear the full version of Kenai's confession and Koda's reaction is available on youtube and its way more heart-breaking imo.

which I guess is why they didn't go with that version since it would have maybe been a bit too much for young kids.

but the movie also employs the gimmick of having the brothers come back together in the end to fight off a life threatening enemy and all is seemingly forgiven between them straight away afterwards.

I guess one reason why BB doesn't bother me as much as TBT is that Kenai actually grows throughout the film despite wronging Koda in a massive way.

and Koda forgiving him too quickly in the ending is not as bothersome because we didn't see Kenai mistreat him the entire film up until the point he found out.

and he didn't then proceed to hurt him again in arguably just as bad a way as he did before like Bro zone did.

instead Kenai did grow in the film and he and Koda already had a healthy relationship prior to the reveal and later confession.

plus what they had throughout the film was genuine sibling banter it wasn't one sided like Bro zone's interactions were with Branch where it was basically just them treating him like a kid and not taking his Valid feelings seriously.

and when Kenai confesses to Koda he's a lot more openly remorseful and tries to go after him to make things right Bro zone just get a brief 4 second shot of them feeling bad and then the movie moves on.

not to mention the climax of BB involves Kenai making a sacrifice for Koda first off he puts his own life in danger in order to save him from his Brother Denahi. and at the very end he makes a big sacrifice ( staying as a Bear so he can stay with him even tho it means leaving behind his human life and not being able to openly communicate with his family )

which somewhat works as an act of love and redemption whereas the climax of TBT involves Bro zone being forced to work together in order to save their own lives as well as the life of the Bro who none of them wronged all that much tbh.

it doesn't really work as a first step towards them redeeming themselves and fixing their family because its kinda selfish and it didn't involve them really making any sort of personal sacrifice or even that much effort.

ya know its funny I just thought I'd make this post as a Random little thought since that's all this was I didn't actually expect to talk in depth and compare the movies stories this much lol.

I just started typing and got carried away 😂😂😂😂😂😂

anyway in short I love Brother Bear its a very adorable film and while its far from perfect in how it handles its story its flaws don't stop me from enjoying it.

since it still handled the more important parts of the story well enough.

unlike with Trolls 3 best thing I can say about it is that the movie version of "" Better Place "" is a legit great little song and frankly its too good for this film.

the story didn't earn such an emotional music piece in my opinion.

She often comes off as a lazy or narcissistic person and she talks lazily, she speaks as if she’s better than everyone but in reality, she prefers to push people away so she wouldn’t get emotionally attached to others and ended up getting hurt and she’s tactful when it comes to swords and battles, she’s loyal and an adventurous plus a mischievous person but she means well, brutally honest person, although she states that she doesn’t care about Grim and Ace, or Deuce, in reality, she’s willing to help them in a more like an angry mom way…

She’s mainly annoyed about the absurd situations they manage to get themselves in, back in her world, she often uses daydreams and music to escape from reality, she doesn’t understand social norms or how to socialize with other people due to her backstory and she’s not angry that she’s not in her world since she basically lost anything so why would someone remember her in her world.

Harley was interested in cosplaying and fashion because it seems fascinating but she complained about how inaccurate the knights are and she gets bored easily because she wants to live her teenage life and enjoy the years that got lost in time, she doesn’t want to be vulnerable towards anyone but at the same time she wants someone to help her but she doesn’t know what to do or say, she tends to be flirty without even trying or realizing it but she gets flustered when someone showers her with love.

She’s competitive and almost got into fights just to win the competition whenever she’s angry or in a bad mood, she because more easy to anger than usual and she’s always been short tempered, oddly enough, she likes to smell the air of dirt especially after it rains and has ate dirt just to taste them.

Before arriving at Twisted Wonderland, when she was just a child but she had goat like eyes and abnormal hands, her physical strength was slightly above average, the townspeople got worried and scared and didn’t trust her or her family when she was a teenager she was accused of a crime and she was put on trial, at the end she got punished by the House of Judgement and was isolated in a dark void, she waited and waited until finally she was sent free by finding a slit in the void, she thought it was only 365 days since her punishment but when she saw the outside world, she realizes how different it was and realizes it’s been 365 years, heartbroken realizing she won’t find her family any more, she’s still not used to social norms which cause some misunderstandings.

Once she was released from that void she was anxious since she didn’t know how different society was or how to function but she met an unknown goddess in the woods, but she met him in his phoenix form and he took her in despite not knowing how to parent a human but he trained her because she needed to control her abilities.

The goddess is around 10,000 years old, The unknown goddess often teases her and his nickname for Harley is “Young Hare” While Harley is embarrassed by his teasing and often refers to him as “my goddess” she messes up and calls him Mother instead but after the unknown god’s got pierced in the chest by the new God of Justice, she was forced to kill him putting out of his misery for his request but after that, she doesn’t know how to cope with the loss so she wouldn’t acknowledge or process the lost.

She thinks that all of this is part of her training as his apprentice and convinced herself that it’s just for training and that the God is watching over her for guidance, so she tries to move on and not process anything of her trauma at all. It’s a part of her training so she shouldn’t hang onto it.

Harley would totally hit someone with her large tail if someone tries to do anything funny to her or she thinks they’re getting too close which has happened upon meeting Sebek and slapped Riddle in Book 1.

Her flaws are she seems to have a big ego and a narcissistic nature because she speaks highly of herself because she doesn’t want someone to be friends with her and because she doesn’t want to be attached to that person again! She’s gentle and loyal like she’s an asshole but she’s a nice asshole She’s tone deaf and doesn’t understand social norms which causes some misunderstandings and she can be crude and rude without realizing it.

This is a story of how people must find unity to elect a new king.

Our story takes place in The United Kingdom of Euchronia, where the assassination of the king brings chaos and unrest to the land.

Then, one fateful day, a magic known only to the king called the Royal Magic is invoked, and the world becomes embroiled in a royal tournament for the throne.

In the midst of this, the protagonist, together with his partner, the fairy Galica, must find a way to break the curse that has been placed on the prince that the kingdom believes to be dead. To do so, they depart on a journey across the vast land.

They will discover that in order to achieve their goal, they must participate in the tournament for the throne, and this great task shall require them to ally with many friends and followers of the various tribes inhabiting the world.

Protagonist (voiced by Natsuki Hanae)

Together with the fairy, Galica, he embarks on a journey to lift the deadly curse placed on his childhood friend, the prince of Euchronia.

He is a boy of the elda tribe, branded as a “tainted” people by the state religion who believe they have inherited dangerous and heretical magic. Being so rare among the populous, they are detested and discriminated against throughout the kingdom.

Gallica (voiced by Sumire Morohoshi)

Not only a traveling companion, Gallica is the guide who helps the protagonist carry out his mission to save the prince. Although she is too small to participate in battles, her knowledge of magic and ability to sense magla is superior to the protagonist due to her fairy nature. She doesn’t mince words, but she is a reassuring ally on his journey.

Strohl (voiced by Kensho Ono)

He is a young man of the clemar tribe who meets the protagonist in the recruitment centre for the State Army. A smart young man with a strong sense of justice, he hails from a noble family. And yet, it seems his circumstances are complicated, as it is rare for a noble to enlist in the army alongside commoners.

Hulkenberg (voiced by Saori Hayami)

A knight of the roussainte tribe and former member of the royal family’s Kingsguard who served by the prince’s side. Despite her young age, she excelled in the use of various weaponry, and was assigned to the personal guard of the prince. But when the prince was attacked, she failed to protect him and set out to wander, carrying the stigma of this failure in her heart.

Heismay (voiced by Akio Ootsuka)

A former knight of the eugief tribe. He has acute perception compared to most others, due in part to the eugief trait of being sensitive to sound.

With an appearance that differs greatly from other tribes, it’s not uncommon for eugiefs to be discriminated against—and it seems Heismay is no exception, his past his own burden to bear.

BIOGRAPHY ⸻ tw: assault – twenty years in the bustling city of london was how koda’s path started. a devoted stay-at-home mother and a hard-working farmer of a dad adored their boy despite his antics. as he made his way through the schooling system, it was evident that koda would most likely follow in his parents footsteps. it was the beginnings of a troublemaker; after-school detentions, letters home, an undiagnosed boy who needed more support than what was offered. he tried his best to be good, in order not to disappoint the person he cherished more than anything; his mother.  during his teenage years, koda’s mother fell ill. It was his duty to care for her while his father remained working on the farm, providing a roof over their heads and a stable environment for his mother to recover in. despite his best efforts, recovery was not god’s plan for mrs. jackson, and she succumbed to her illness just a few short weeks later. the once lively boy fell into the deep end of despair and struggle. no longer attending school and spending long nights out of the house, the frustrations of his father only grew. he couldn’t control his son, he knew the boy was hurting, if the whiskey bottles stashed in his bedroom or empty cigarette cartons thrown on the floor gave anything away. koda found his way into local gambling dens, betting his most valuable personal items in exchange for an hour of rush, never returning home with less than what he started with. he was good. he could read a poker face like it was written on their forehead, always knowing when it was time to bow out. that was until he hit his first real jackpot. freshly eighteen, koda found himself going home with thousands in his pocket instead of merely hundreds. he had a skip in his step, overjoyed that he could finally action the plan he had been dreaming of since that fateful day at fifteen. he returned home for what would be the last time - a note scrawled on an old piece of paper with a goodbye and the money on the kitchen table, enough in his pocket to buy his one way ticket to america. leaving the city of london behind, koda tried to get a fresh start in the world of bear hold, washington. it was only a few months before his depression got the best of him. he missed his mother, his father… but he knew the man would be better off without his behaviour hindering him.  the night it happened started much like the others. he spent the day scribbling away in his notebook, shielding it from passersby in the coffee shop he frequented, followed by making his way between the various casinos that the nearing cities had to offer. it was as if his stroke of luck that had kept his pockets filled for years had finally vanished. before he knew it, he was out of money. he’d bet his car keys, his apartment, each round spiralling until he had nothing more to give. he’d thrown away everything in a feeble attempt to chase the feeling of euphoria he so desperately needed. stumbling into one of the rougher bars not far from his apartment, one drink became five, his smart mouth got him in trouble with people he shouldn’t, and fights broke out. before long, koda was shoved onto the floor of an alleyway next to the bar, steel-toe boots being kicked into his stomach, a few strangers watching from afar. It was bearhold - no one would report it, no one cared. no one batted an eyelid when fangs reflected in the moonlight, koda being left there for dead, surrounded by his own blood.  what he didn’t expect was to be bitten. he’d heard of vampires, grew up listening to stories of dracula and the little vampire, but he never dreamed it would actually exist. he prayed the fangs were a figment of his imagination, the desire for death and blood loss conjuring it up.. but it was real, and so was his first feed.

I also always cried buckets and buckets when he tells Koda that he killed his mum. I would also cry buckets and buckets today if I would have the strength to rewatch the movie 😭

(I think I fast rebloged on mobile and did the “stole your tags like a fae” glitch but anyway) AOouuuuUUUUUHHH it’s so HEARTBREAKING I totally agree… it’s honestly one of my favorite payoffs in all of cinema history, the sadness of the audience knowing first but the icing on the cake for me is when during the flashback, you hear her voice, and it drives the nail in your heart. That was Kodas Mom, his Mom, she told him stories of the spirits, told him about the salmon run, kissed him goodnight, held him when he had nightmares, and loved her son so dearly she took on 3 hunters for him, that was his mommy, and our beloved protagonist Kenai, killed her. Out of heartbroken rage. And now we have to watch him accept the consequences of that. We have to watch Koda, a child, a very young child, who we have grown to love as our own, hear how his mother, died at the hands of the bear he considered his own, who he considered his brother.

Such an Immaculate, heartbreaking, tragedy in a family film, that has yet to be topped in my book.

Elsa had noticed him, even if she had not noticed that he was noticing her in return; that all of the little flirtations were just teasing because she was nearly twice his age. Clopin was the cougar, not her, and she didn’t need some other type of animal being attached to her, not when Flotsam was eternally making Heffer jokes because of her first name. He was handsome though, young, sturdy Koda, and she was still a flesh and blood woman, not made of ice and slush like she made herself out to be to the world as a defence mechanism, founded from her childhood. Then he kept making moves and here they were, doing their own, unspecified, far beyond the awkward acquaintanceship that they had at the beginning. Don’t put a name on it, don’t put a label on it. Just - let it be. And for once, she was finding that easy.

Her legs, long, pale, shapely, up to her ass - not large, but round - she always did make her jeans look good, to her feet, arched, neatly manicured, taken care of. Everything just so neat and tidy with Elsa, as if the intrusion of scars and ink was frowned upon. Even the underwear was nothing flashy. Her body wasn’t a show for Koda, she didn’t go to lengths to try to please him with her appearance, it was just so naturally all her.

Her eyes danced across those broad shoulders, forever enticed by them. They were so strong looking, like Koda could carry the weight of the world on his shoulders and not sink down onto his knees, not that she would ever wish him that much of a load. It was just something she discovered that she liked - Thomas loved Valerie’s and Flotsam’s legs, Elsa apparently had a thing about shoulders now. Even while he was stripping down the rest, those tree trunk legs, it was those shoulders that she now brushed her fingers over, leaving traces of cold, as if an ice cube had been sliding along his hot flesh.

She held it tighter when he entered, a gasp coming out from her lips. It was something she had to get adjusted to each and every time, her body stretching to accommodate him. It always took a moment. She hadn’t been ‘sexually’ active in many years until Koda, and her body was working to grow more accustomed to it. But she enjoyed that initial feeling of pushing and fullness - it made her feel … alive.

Koda was a man. Not the boy that others might seem him as. That she had seen him as when they first met because he had been so young. But in their time together, he had grown. Still - it was almost amusing to see him act like a boy when the bra was taken off of her pale frame and breasts were exposed. They weren’t large, they didn’t point straight up to the ceiling when she laid down the way that fake breasts did, but they were still boobs, and they still brought him a boyish delight that he could see over his face. That amusement was short lived as his mouth took in a nipple, her body pushing back against him, taking more of him in at a faster pace, his touch bringing out a neediness.

Her hands wandered about his shoulders, her fingertips feeling like they were heating up just from the warmth of him, then she would lift her head and tuck it into his neck. Nuzzling her nose into that warmth and pressed soft and tender kisses to the thick skin, raising one leg to get him in deeper. She wasn’t thinking at this moment, she wasn’t over-analyzing, but she was just feeling, and doing what felt right, even if that meant giving the bear a little nibble of her own.

She was never particularly loud, but her breath came out in pants when she got closer, the way that her leg was up and the way that he was leaning down over her was stimulating her in just the right away. It was how Koda would know, would be able to get perceptive enough to tell since she wasn’t the kind to go screaming or dirty talking. Still though, when she got there, she would let out a soft and sultry, “-oohhhh-”, almost a hum more than a moan, her head tilting back, quivers underneath the skin.

He'd not been serious, but when she answered there was something in her tone, a subtext in her manner. He thought he'd been picking up on social cues like this since the burial, like things were changing between them. It was like even though he was completely joking her answer felt earnest and honest. It kept him searching her eyes as they played. Damn, did she have ever lovely eyes.
