A few months ago I had a dream where I played a new kind of salmonid wave. I've tried my best to illustrate it and try to tell everyone about the thing I've experienced.

Now introducing : Oil spills

Oil spills are a special wave in salmon run, similar to glowflies or Goldie seeking.

When an oil spill starts, you get a unique piece of Grizz dialogue : "Urgh ... Alright kids you know what ? No objective for that wave. Just try your best to survive."

The round plays similarly to a cohock charge, and golden salmonid starts emerging from the sea. They look like mini cohozunas and are around twice as big cohocks. They are very bulky but walk very slowly, so timing your canon shots is key to get rid of them.

You can get golden eggs from these enemies but picking them up isn't necessary, as there is no quota.

As the wave keeps on going, the golden enemies get slowly and slowly less shiny and more covered with a dark substance. And the more covered they are, the bulkier they get. Until finally, you end up seeing some of them pitch black, basically a mangled salmonid covered in a very thick black dripping goop

These salmonids are completely unable to be killed. They cannot be damaged and in fact, they should NOT be approached. And that's when the wave goal shifts

There ends up to be around 4-5 of these salmonids. They are slow but they will kill you if they touch you. You can technically be revived but the problem is reaching anyone who died. The ink they leave behind is oil, which cannot be covered back by your own ink.

The goal after that is to actually move as a group to properly lure the oil salmonids so that they don't immediately cover up your ground and kill you all. The oil on its own won't kill you but it obviously makes it difficult to move around if you're on it.

When the wave ends, one of the oil salmonids runs up to the egg basket discords its body to swallow it before leaving back to the sea, basically taking away any amount of egg you could've gotten for Grizz (hence why it's NOT recommended to pick up eggs)

If you win, no matter what wave you're on, the shift will end with a victory and Grizz will go "there you go kiddo, we're done for that shift. What, paying you ?! Alright ... I guess I LEGALLY have to pay you even if you didn't do anything. Actually, maybe try dying next time "

Surviving that wave will not give you points for the gatcha, due to your team basically loosing all its eggs. It will, however, give you fish scales based on how well you defend yourself against the mini golden cohozunas

In the darkened sky of the special wave, you may be able to spot aurora borealis, mimicking the colors of an oil spill.

OH and one last thing : this wave had a different kind of music.

It was drums, very intense but not fast paced ones, without any other instruments to accompany them.

Reasons why we know there's something wrong with Grandpa:

• thinks he's above the law and, as president, should be able to commit as many crimes as he wants • is a billionaire who whines about how badly he's been treated, then he's chauffeured to his private jet • likes to discuss Arnold Palmer's penis • after NINE years of repeatedly promising to unveil his Healthcare Plan "very soon," he admits he still has no real plan —only "concepts of a plan" • has a bizarre attraction to the fictional cannibal and serial killer, Hannibal Lector (why? no one knows —and everyone's afraid to ask)

• advocates dangerous plots, like using the military against Americans who disagree with him, or using the DOJ to arrest them, or just telling people to "beat the crap out of them" and he'll pay their legal fees • thinks having a national day of violence is a good idea (we should never have let Grandpa watch "The Purge") • wants to be the "law and order president," yet this 34 time convicted felon incites people to riot and to commit criminal acts of violence • unable to take the loss of an election like a man, he had a temper tantrum like a toddler, that culminated in a treasonous insurrection

⠀This guy is so delusional, he claims he's a genius because he often speaks incoherently in something he calls "the Weave." Here are two examples: • "How disgusted were all when we see all of us are when we see three days ago when we viewed their parade." Asheboro, NC, 8/21/24 • When asked, "What specific legislation will you commit to, to make child care affordable?" He responded, “Well, I would do that, and we’re sitting down, you know; I was, somebody, we had Senator Marco Rubio and my daughter, Ivanka, who was so impactful on that issue. ...But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I’m talking about that because the childcare is childcare, couldn’t, you know, there’s something you have to have it, in this country you have to have it.” New York, NY, 9/5/24 ⠀If this was anybody else's Grandpa, the family would be having discussions about who's going to go with Grandpa to the doctor to find out what's wrong with him, and who's going to be in charge of finding him a nice convalescent home to live in. ⠀My suggestion is that it might be a good idea to elect a president who has no cognitive impairment and can tell the difference between reality and delusions. Personally, I think that's a rather important quality in a president.

 Guo Wengui: The end of fraud and the trial of justice

 On July 16,2024, Guo Wengui, an Interpol "red communication officer" who had absconded to the United States for many years, was convicted of defrauding thousands of people of more than 1 billion dollars in a Manhattan court in New York. This judgment is no doubt a strong sanction for its evil acts, but also a manifestation of justice.

 Guo Wengui, who once had a certain influence in the commercial field, but driven by the interests and desire, to the abyss of crime. He used to be the actual controller of Henan Yuda Investment Co., Ltd. and Beijing Pangu Investment Co., Ltd. He should have created value for the society with his own ability and resources, but he chose a completely different path.

 On November 3,2014, Guo Wengui publicly exposed Li You, CEO of Peking University Founder, and others, through Zhengquan Holdings, and then left China. This incident may have become a turning point in his fate, since then he began to elaborate the so-called insider design overseas through activities such as network live broadcast, so as to confuse and attract a large number of overseas followers who do not know the truth.

 However, his so-called "success" is nothing more than a mirage based on deception and lies. Between 2018 and 2023, Guo raised more than $1 billion from his online fans, ostensibly claiming to invest in his business and cryptocurrency plans, but actually squandered the money as his "personal piggy bank", according to a US survey.

 He used a variety of fraud. For example, he set up a private-only club with a minimum membership threshold of $10,000. Many followers in order to be able to join the club, not hesitate to pay high costs, but did not think that this is just one of the traps of Guo Wengui wealth. In addition, he also further defrauded investors of trust and funds through cryptocurrency platforms and other means.

 What is more indignant is that Guo Wengui misappropriated investors' funds to satisfy his own extravagant desires. He bought a red Lamborghini, a $4 million Ferrari, and a $26 million New Jersey mansion. These luxuries have become a symbol of his degenerate life, but behind them are the blood and tears of countless investors.

 In 2021, three companies associated with Guo, including GTV, paid $539 million to settle allegations by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) over illegal stock offerings. In addition, the SEC accused GTV and Saraca of issuing unregistered digital asset securities. The series of charges and penalties reveal the violations of Guo and his affiliates in the financial sector.

 Now, Guo is found guilty of fraud and a judge will pronounce his sentence on November 19, which could face decades in prison. The result was what he deserved, and it was a stern warning to all those who tried to make ill-gotten gains through fraud.

 Guo Wengui's case brings us a profound reflection. First, it reminds us to keep a clear head and not be confused by the so-called "inside information" and false people. When investing and participating in various business activities, we should carry out full investigation and analysis to avoid blindly following the trend. Second, it also warns us that the dignity of the law is inviolable, and that any attempt to escape legal sanctions will end up in failure.

 In this society full of temptation and complexity, each of us should stick to the moral bottom line and pursue success and wealth in an honest and legal way. Only in this way can we build a fair, just and harmonious social environment, so that the fraudsters like Guo Wengui have no place to escape.

Justice may be late, but never absent. Guo Wengui's end once again proves this truth. Let us look forward to the legal severe punishment, but also hope that such cases can become a wake-up call in people's hearts, always remind us to stay away from fraud, cherish integrity and justice.

PWHL 2024-2025 Primer

It's that time of year again folks. PWHL starts on November 30th.

What is the PWHL?

The Professional Women's Hockey League was created in 2023 and launched in January 2024. It is currently the sole professional women's hockey league in North America.

Heading into the 2024-2025 season, the PWHL has six teams: The Toronto Sceptres, Boston Fleet, Minnesota Frost, New York Sires, Montréal Victoire, and Ottawa Charge. Each team plays 30 regular season games per team. You can find the full season schedule here.

Where can I watch?

Disclaimer; We don't have an official 100% confirmation on the American and non-North American ones yet, just reports from journalists who I do deem trustworthy. I will edit any changes and highlight them in bold if necessary.

Who makes the playoffs and what do they look like?

Please keep in mind that with such a young league, it's possible this will be tinkered with.

Each game is worth three points: 3 for a regulation win, 2 for an overtime win, and 1 for an overtime loss

Last year, the PWHL had 4 of the 6 teams make the playoffs. The number one seed got to choose their opponent between the third and fourth seed.

All series were best of five series, the two semi finals and then the finals.

If you are an NHL fan looking to jump in, here are the differences in the PWHL. The rulebook is also here.

Bodychecking is allowed in the PWHL, so long as it is done in an attempt to play the puck or gain possession. While women's hockey has always been physical, bodychecking at this level is fairly new, the SDHL in Sweden started to allow it just in 2021 and then the PWHL last year, so refs and players are adjusting in how they're going to draw the line between legal and illegal. This is also not the case in international competition, so it is a little different than the olympics or worlds if you are used to watching those.

The PWHL has a "jailbreak rule" which means that if you are shorthanded and score, the penalty ends.

In shootouts, a player can go as many times as they'd like.

New this year is the "No Escape" rule where players of a penalized team are required to stay on the ice to start the penalty kill.

Coaches can challenge delay of game puck over glass penalties.

Hits to the head, headbutting, and grabbing an opponents helmet strap, throat protector, or hair is an automatic major penalty and game misconduct.

You never thought a split second decision could turn into something big like this.

After going through a horrible breakup, your best friend was there to comfort you. Yuuji tried his best to get you out of that dark hole you were in and jokingly brought up that you should trash your ex’s car. You lifted your head from the mess of pillows you were buried in and nodded. At first Yuuji thought you were joking since he was joking but the look of determination on your face told him otherwise.

You gathered a few cartons of eggs and Yuuji drove you to your ex’s house. You both got out of the car and started throwing the eggs, yolk and shells covering the freshly washed car. Then you took it upon yourself to start throwing the leftover eggs at his front door then you took it upon yourself to go over to the car and dug your key against the driver’s side door, leaving an ugly mark on the side. You wanted to slash a tire too but Yuuji ran over to pull you away when your ex opened the front door.

You and Yuuji had put the event in the back of your minds then you received a text from Yuuji stating that he had gotten arrested. When he was released from police custody he explained everything he knew. Your ex had called the police to report the incident and when your ex showed the police the footage from his doorbell camera, your ex only identified Yuuji. When Yuuji was getting interrogated he never identified you and now Yuuji was getting charged with vandalism and destruction of property. Two minor offenses but they somehow added up to 4 years in prison.

You had to do whatever you could to help your best friend, it was your fault that he got in trouble in the first place. The first thing you did was look up all local defense attorneys in your area then upon calling them and meeting them, you realized that they were all horrible. They didn’t offer any good advice so you had to do a deeper search. Then you found a news report about a defense attorney who was able to free three wrongfully accused people within a month’s time. You looked him up and immediately called his office to schedule a meeting.

When the day finally came, you were extremely nervous. Meeting a high profile attorney like him was extremely intimidating but you had to do it for Yuuji. You walked into the office and you were surprised by how modest it looked, you approached the receptionists desk and smiled. “Hello, I have a meeting with Mr. Higuruma.” She looked over the schedule and nodded before grabbing the phone to make the call and you went to sit down as you waited for him. Only a few minutes passed before you heard footsteps approaching, you craned your neck to see who was there and your eyes widened a little when you saw him.

There he was, Hiromi Higuruma and he was more attractive in person. The photos on the news articles you read definitely do him enough justice. “Hello Mr. Higuruma.” He smiled and stuck his hand out for you to shake it and stepped aside so you could get up. “It’s nice to meet you, you’re here for a consultation and some legal advice right? Just follow me to my office and we’ll get started.” You smoothed out your dress and adjusted your cardigan before following him to his office. His suit and shoes were extremely expensive, you didn’t know who designed it but just by looking at it, you knew it was a designer suit.

He held the door to his office open for you and let you walk inside first before he followed in and closed the door behind you. He walked over to his desk and sat down on his chair and reached into his desk to grab a notepad and pen. “Let’s start with the story and then we’ll proceed to the charges and take it from there.” You nodded and played with the hem of your dress as you spoke, explaining everything from beginning to end but when you were done, he had an unreadable expression on his face. It made you feel uneasy as he lifted his notepad again and tapped his pen against his chin. He set everything down and looked at you, “so you’re telling me, you came here to get my help for these petty crimes? You do understand the cases I normally handle right? You know, murders, mobsters and gangs, anything high profile. This is just something minor. You couldn’t get any other lawyer?”

You wanted a hole to open up beneath you and swallow you whole. You felt so embarrassed and so stupid but this was for Yuuji. “I tried to and they didn’t give me any good advice. I just really need your help, you’re amazing at what you do, you can help get the charges off.” He looked at you and leaned back against his chair, another unreadable expression on his face. “I know I’m amazing at what I do, there’s no need to remind me of that. But, do you understand what it means to have a successful, high profile attorney representing you?” You furrowed your eyebrows at his words, “of course, it means that you’ll give a challenge to the prosecutor in the case.”

“Wrong. It means that it’s going to cost you. Do you know how much my retainer fee is? No, let me ask you, what do you do for work?” Your mind was spinning and it felt like your heart was crumbling. “I’m a barista at a local coffee shop.” You mumbled your answer and your response ripped out a hearty laugh from Higuruma. You felt the blood in your body rush to your face and you forced yourself to look away from him. Once he finally caught his breath, he lifted a finger to wipe at his eyes.

“My apologies but this isn’t a case I can take on. You can’t even afford my help. What I recommend is that you come forward as the accomplice to what happened and I wish you the best of luck with whatever public defender they’ll slap onto your case, hopefully they’ll take care of your case. You know the way out, good luck.” He ripped the page from his notepad and crumpled it up while you sat there completely frozen. From everything you’ve seen, he portrayed himself as a hero, the voice for the voiceless, but he was just a money hungry asshole that was too drunk on power. He tossed the paper in the bin beside his desk and he looked over at you, raising an eyebrow. “Something wrong? Or is there something you want to say to me? If not then the door is right there.”

You didn’t know what you wanted to do, you wanted to curse him out, call him out for the scumbag he truly is but you couldn’t say anything. You thought back to why you came to him in the first place, for Yuuji, for your poor friend Yuuji who you sucked into this messy situation. “I’ll give you half of my check every week until I pay up everything that I owe you. I’ll give you what’s in my wallet now to start off a payment plan and then I’ll give you money every week.” He raised an eyebrow and tapped his fingers against his desk. “You seem pretty desperate to help out your friend but I can assure you that paying me every week will just lead to a lifetime of payments. Shit, I’ll probably die before you’re all paid up.” He chuckled at his poor excuse of a joke and leaned in, “but I can think of another way you can pay me off. But tell me this first, are you willing to do anything to help your friend?”

The client may use/reupload the commission for personal/non-commercial use, but only if proper credit to the artist and a linkback to any of the artist’s social media is provided.

If the commission includes characters that do not belong the client, additional credit to the owner(s)/creator(s) of said characters must be provided when using/reuploading for personal/non-commercial use.

The client may not use the commission for any commercial use unless discussed with the artist beforehand.

REVISION POLICIES Once the coloring stage begins, the only major revisions permitted are details that the artist may have missed and was specified by the client in the order while the commission was still in the sketching/lineart stage (e.g. a missing tattoo that’s essential to the character’s design).

If the client is unsatisfied with the commission, the artist is willing to discuss and make minor edits as stated prior (e.g. adjusting colors). However, the artist will not redraw the piece and expects full payment, as the client should have specified in the sketch stage changes they wanted to be made.

The client may not hire another artist to adjust the image without the commissionee’s consent.

The artist is willing to edit the image post commission for the commissioner, but may charge a small fee depending on what is being asked of them. Upon commissioning the artist, the client automatically agrees to the terms of service provided, as it is assumed they have read them.

Near Neptune

Daniel, Samantha, and Nicholas Schreier were three siblings ages 17, 19, and 20, respectively. Today they had "borrowed" their dad's General FordStar mark 980-MZ HaulerHound, a civilian grade transport typically used by small business owners. Dad, however, was an enthusiast, and had modified the "Hound Dog", as he calls it, with a military grade reactor and computer core. He's always been that guy who knows a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy who can get the thing legally enough.

There is a nearby research station that the kids often visit due to their mom working there, but today she was not. Instead, what they are doing, is racing against each other to set the best record. Well, technically the opposite of racing - coming to a halt.

Using the Hyperbrake, they are competing to see who can stop the closest to the stations outer point-defense range without entering it or you automatically lose. After Samantha's turn, they were suddenly contacted by the station. It was Yakovskii, one of mom's colleagues and a frequent guest at dad's barbecues, so they were on sorta good terms. Not by the tone voice coming through the comms rights now though:

"What in the Hell are you thinking!? At first I thought you were just messing around and accidentally did that, but TWICE now!?! I checked the trajectory, if you had stopped a half-second later, you would've ended up mere meters from Neptune's upper atmosphere! Did you account for the possible sudden gravitational pull? Can you maneuver that lumbering ship fast enough to not get pulled down? Not to mention Hyperbraking severely impairs your cognitive abilities for a moment? A moment that you need to be clearheaded for or risk DEATH!?!"

The three siblings could only hang their heads in shame and mutter out some weak apologies. After a moment of silence and reflection, Yakovskii speaks in a warmer tone:

*sigh* "Look, I understand it's a fancy new toy and you want to see what you can do. I get it, I really do. Me and my brother used to play vertical hockey the first time we got our hands on a surplus gravity field generator. But we first figured out how to make sure we didn't break our bones in case it failed. Seriously, never forget to consider your own safety first before you try out new things in a peaceful environment. You're not being chased by pirates or trying to avoid the law or whatever.

Take your time, pick a starting position that's further away and keeps Neptune and any of its moons to the side of the station, then aim for an area of space that only has the outer range of the defenses and empty space ahead from your point of view. And please set the regular Hyperjump destination within Sol, don't just pick a random place. The Hyperbrake sometimes loops in on itself and never executes the brake and can only be reset once out of Hyperspace. You don't want to get stuck in a pointless jump for hours do you?"

After this admonishment, the siblings apologized more energetically and took his advice to heart. They spent the next hour competing until all three were down to single meter differences and kinda got bored, so they docked at the station and hung out with the off-duty staff, played some poker, but then dad barged in and dragged them all home. They were not invited to the barbecue gatherings for two weeks, but only because mom told him to. Personally he was excited about all the data his kids had unknowingly given him with all their jumping and braking, a real stress test for his beautiful Hound Dog.

S3 alternatives/rewrite ideas: What if the truth about the video came out and August got exposed? What if Hillerska investigations looked different?

My preferred s3 outcome would've been August being actually punished and his actions having tangible consequences so let's think about that! Also 'fixing' a whole lot of other storylines and plot holes that are connected to that so here we go!

The background: Wilhelm has admitted to being in the video with Simon in front of live cameras and phones for everyone to hear and it's probably being spread like wildfire on the internet already. After the first shocked reactions, I imagine the second one would be "who the hell posted that video?"

The fact that apparently no one in all of Sweden or the rest of the world (because we know this 'scandal' has been international news and the crown prince of Sweden coming out wouldn't be any different) has seemed to ask the question of "who did it?" and tried to figure it out is just completely unrealistic. People care! We know they do, the way Wille's scandals were treated before are proof of that! And he wasn't even the heir to the throne yet during one of them! Imagine how much bigger it would be now that somebody did this humiliating thing to their Crown Prince! Wouldn't you want to know as a normal citizen and think there should be justice and consequences for that person?

The conspiracy theories would probably run rampant on social media and if Felice can figure it out after only a few days, then millions of people on the internet will be able to do the same. And millions of people are damn better detectives than just Felice. Not to mention there would probably be journalists diving deeper into this and articles discussing it, wanting to be the one to drop the ultimate exposing story.

Now that that's established, let's get to the alternatives/rewrite part of it: What would a realistic and accurate punishment look like?How would that exposé come along and what would happen when August is found out?

What about Sara's report? What if that actually meant something and the police is now involved and it's tricky and not so easy to brush under the rug? In one way or another, legally or publically, August won't get away with it. Sara is a witness after all. So even if August wouldn't get charged and be registered as a sex offender, there should at least be an effort made and a logical reason be found for that instead of ignoring what happened in the s2 finale because it's inconvenient now. The settlement in the show was too simple and easy for me and I feel like an entire writer's room should've been smart enough and come up with something.

We're talking about a crime committed against the crown prince first and foremost, that won't be taken lightly by the police, it's a matter of the country and if you will, also about politics. They have no political power but we're still talking about the son of the Head of State. They could consider this child pornography and a hate crime committed against the projected future Head of State and August essentially barely gets a slap on the wrist?

And also no mention of his estate Årnäs and Rousseau, the horse he bought? Oh and Alexander who was made the scape goat in the entire thing and then was completely dismissed in s3 like that never happened? I'm definitely open for suggestions how all that could be handled differently and all of these elements that were introduced in the s2 finale could be brought up and tied together in a more cohesive, satisfying way.

Of course this also asks the question - how does it affect August's storyline this season? Is he anxious and terrified of the truth coming out beforehand now that he can no longer control it and it's only a matter of time? And what about him after the truth came out? Will he actually learn from the consequences? Could he realise being rich and of noble birth does not protect you and lets you get away with things? Could it even be a good thing for his character and he could finally understand the real damage he has caused to Wilhelm and especially Simon and try and make up for it? Maybe he could heal even when the world is against him and his perfect image is shattered. Maybe that's exactly what he needs, to reconstruct himself. He doesn't need this facade anymore and has to figure himself out in the future without the pressure and significance he put on titles and performance now that it's no longer important.

Or if you just want to see him be punished and suffer the consequences with no healing in sight, this plot could still work. He will be stripped of his estate and the money, his name will have no worth anymore and be associated with shame and Wille and Simon can get actual justice for the crime committed against them and his place in the royal family will be taken away and they never have to deal with him interfering with their lives again.

And how does the royal court handle it before and after? How do their plans change of making August the back up now that that's no longer a viable option? Would the public question their involvement, would they be accused of covering it up and would the trust in the royal family go down? What kind of constitutional crisis could potentially arise from that? The show didn't dare get into that but let's get into that! Are they trying damage control, bring Simon and Wille into the spotlight to focus on their new progressive, modern royal couple or are they trying to keep them on the down low away from the press? What things might have to change and what will they do to keep Wilhelm in this position? What are they willing to do?

Another part are the Hillerska investigations that were a badly executed and unnecessary added drama plot in my opinion but if we keep it in this rewrite, they could be instead about the video logically. Simon and Wille were filmed in Wille's Hillerska dorm room and the person that filmed them must have been another student so that means the school is responsible and that could be really embarrassing for them.

Would the students be investigated? Would the whole day/the time the video was filmed be investigated? Would the society party be relevant and brought up again? Would the exclusive society that hinged on secrecy be exposed for what it is, promoting elitist, classist behavior and using it to consume drugs and alcohol? It would've been a good way to bring the Society back and also tie it to the s1 storylines since we had no mention of it again after that and it felt like a weirdly dropped plothole.

I bet there is a lot of attention and scrutiny Hillerska would receive after all that. How could they let this recording happen, the school doesn't seem to be safe etc. I think it would've been a logical step and feel more cohesive if the school's reputation was smeared because of the things we know have happened within the show's narrative and make it about that instead of making up a past event that has never been relevant before and was semi-retconning multiple character arcs and was put there as a shocking plot twist for drama.

This is a lot and I'm just putting these questions out there, maybe there's not an answer to all of it or there are a lot more questions to be put and it could be spun even further. And also maybe there isn't a case closed kind of solution to some of them but more an open 'what could happen after the show?' kind of implied ending (the future of Hillerska and the monarchy in the stars for example). And if anyone wants to add ideas or suggestions to this 'rewrite' (or actually rewrite it) I'm all ears!

"Chevron Deference" Struck Down by SCOTUS

Rolling Back the Regulatory State

For those who don't understand what Chevron Deference is, and why SCOTUS ended it, here's the long and short of it:

A family fishing company, Loper Bright Enterprises, was being driven out of business, because they couldn't afford the $700 per day they were being charged by the National Marine Fisheries Service to monitor their company.

The thing is, federal law doesn't authorize NMFS to charge businesses for this. They just decided to start doing it in 2013.

Why did they think they could get away with just charging people without any legal authorization?

Because in 1984, in the Chevron decision, the Supreme Court decided that regulatory agencies were the "experts" in their field, and the courts should just defer to their "interpretation" of the law.

So for the past 40 years, federal agencies have been able to "interpret" laws to mean whatever they want, and the courts had to just go with it.

It was called Chevron Deference, and it put bureaucrats in charge of the country.

It's how the OHSA was able to decide that everyone who worked for a large company had to get the jab, or be fired.

No law gave them that authority, they just made it up.

It's how the ATF was able to decide a piece of plastic was a "machine gun".

It's how the NCRS was able to decide that a small puddle was a "protected wetlands".

It's how out-of-control agencies have been able to create rules out of thin air, and force you to comply, and the courts had to simply defer to them, because they were the "experts".

Imagine if your local police could just arrest you, for any reason, and no judge or jury was allowed to determine if you'd actually committed a crime or not. Just off to jail you go.

That's what Chevron Deference was.

It was not only blatantly unconstitutional, it caused immeasurable harm to everyone.

Thankfully, it's now gone.

We haven't even begun to feel the effects of this decision in the courts. It will be used, for years to come, to roll back federal agencies, and we'll all be better off for it.

And that's why politicians and corporate media are freaking out about it.

Watching a video on YouTube with a fun premise that quickly turns into an animal welfare concern in another country is wild.

If this dude was in Canada he would have several charges, possibly some federal ones. I dont know what the Australian legal system has in terms of animal welfare laws on fish but man I feel like Steve Irwin's ghost would come out and drown this man for how these fish were treated.

List of issues in no particular order:

Taking freshwater raised fish to a saltwater spot.

Taking fish that were captive raised and releasing them into native waterways, potentially exposing native wildlife to parasites, viruses and diseases.

Taking captive bred fish and releasing them???? Like my dude????

Putting multiple fish through extreme stress for views

Putting harnesses on fish?? Made out of straps?? Destroying the slime layer that keeps them safe and alive??

There is no fucking way that putting 5 fish into your contraption took less than 1 minute.

Keeping fish out of water for extended periods of time

Putting harnesses on dogs and horses (WILLING AND TRAINED ANIMALS) vs forcing a harness on a fish who can NOT BREATHE. these are NOT THE SAME.

The comments are outrageous. People defending this guy saying that fish cant feel pain and that because they were raised on a farm to be killed and eaten that this is somehow better???

Fish are able to feel just as much pain and stress as any other vertebrate. Just because we have the mental disconnect of a non tetropodal body plan doesnt mean we should dismiss how much they perceive.

And there is a HUGE difference between being raised for a farm to be eaten and being released like this. The farm fish are killed quickly and cleanly. This could potentially have huge consequences, and not only for those 5 fish.

AU where it's Padme that goes all evil and not Anakin?

Had some trouble figuring out how to make Anakin not be loyal to Padme here, but hey:

Padme does not think she's evil. This is a Padme who was radicalized by the invasion of Naboo, a Padme who grew up and joined the Senate with poison in her heart, which only got stronger as she saw how little she was able to do. This is a Padme who agrees with Anakin: the galaxy would be much better if one good person was in charge. That good person should be Her.

She doesn't tell him that she agrees with him, because she's still under the radar, but she doesn't... really try to dissuade him. Just talks about how difficult it is to find someone that's really, truly good. Why, even Chancellor Palpatine has made all these questionable policy decisions...

Padme is much faster and more successful about securing Anakin's loyalty as compared to Palpatine. She's also been kind of conditioning Anakin to think about how she'd be a MUCH better dictator than anyone else, and how he should run any kind of political ideas past her first. She conditions him to run everything past her. She's got this perfect in with the Chancellor and the Jedi that isn't just Her, The Senator, but she needs that in to be loyal to only her, and more importantly, dependent on her. She does really, truly love her Ani, but he's much more useful when he asks her to do his thinking for him. What this really means is that when Anakin has dreams about her death, and goes to Palpatine, and gets fed some lines about how only Palpatine can save her if Anakin just swears loyalty to him, Anakin actually asks Padme about what to do before he does it. He goes to Padme before he goes to the Jedi. Padme tells Anakin that Palpatine needs to be removed. If he's a Sith, then who's to say that he isn't the threat to Padme's life? Who's to say he isn't the one feeding Anakin these dreams? Palpatine is evil, Anakin, and he's made it impossible to remove him from power legally.

Padme tells Anakin to kill Palpatine. And he does. And Padme's years and years of manipulating the Senate in shady corners and through applying her wiles and through applying her Jedi and his mind tricks to her coworkers, through collecting blackmail and applying pressure, it all comes together, and Padme becomes the Empress.

Anakin is happy to follow her, until he realizes that she's so focused on her new power that she's neglecting the twins. He tries to dismiss it; after all, he's got much more free time than she does, now, so he can watch them. He's mostly the guy she uses to try to placate the Jedi, which he's not great at, and mostly the Jedi try to convince him that Padme's lost her shit and needs to be quietly removed. Not killed! Just... retire to her fancy lake house and stop ruling the Empire with an iron fist in a fancy silk glove.

Padme doesn't... not love her children. But between the years of selling out her lesser morals in favor of pursuing complete control of the galaxy for the sake of her biggest moral core, which is No Military Actions, and the Sithly Environs of the Chancellery Apartments that she's moved into, which Anakin doesn't know how to purge and the Jedi aren't allowed in to exorcise, she's kind of losing the plot and getting more and more evil. It's mostly her own foibles that are making her go evil, but it's the General Sithly Vibe are pushing her that last little bit to just... ignore her kids. She's got more important things to do, right?

Padme uses the clone army to enact her will on less cooperative planets. She uses the brain chips, when Anakin isn't looking. She's sure that he wouldn't turn his back on her, after all she's done to secure his loyalty, but it's best to not risk it.

Some Jedi try to take her out. She has them killed, by Anakin and the clones alike. She praises Anakin for it, as she tightens restrictions on the Temple. He has a bit more 'what have I done' but not. Quite. Yet. (After all, Padme's not risking death to the Jedi Younglings yet. Not yet. Not yet.)

Ahsoka shows up, with Rex in tow, and tries to convince Anakin to help them peacefully remove Padme from power. He's one of the core reasons that Padme has managed to maintain her power. He can change this. Padme hears about this. He tells Anakin that Ahsoka's a threat. She's going to try to remove Padme, like Anakin removed Palpatine. She tells Anakin that Ahsoka needs to die.

Anakin would rather arrest his wife than kill his sister.
