WHAT IF OBORO LIVED AND WAS LIVING EVERY HIMBOS DREAM OF BAGGING A MILF AND TRIPPED HIS WAY INTO BEING IZUKU’S STEP DAD AND POST
Let's do this 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
-(he is enraptured.)
Oboro, the ultimate simp.
-(all tangled hair and pillow lines on her face)
I know this man thought that she was the sexiest thing he'd ever seen in that moment. Like wanted a full blown painting of the way she looked.
-(one of his shirts to replace the one he got a little too excited to deal with the buttons of last night that hangs off of her)
Not sure who the friend is (Mitsuki? just based on canon, it's unclear) but I know for damn sure that she got pummeled with questions the millisecond she walked in the door.
-(Which yeah of course he is. That’s what moms are supposed to do, right?)
THIS MAN GETS IT!!!! We looooove him!!!!! Like this energy of parent gotta parent right? Like that a thing that just is? ahahah
-(“He’s quirkless”
He’s heard the whispers about what happens to quirkless kids and teens from other heroes,)
OOOOF like the amount of statistics and lived experience that must have flashed through his head at that moment. I know his hero brain went protec baby
-(times.)
I'm intrigued gooo ooooooon
-(And then, eventually, he meets Izuku. A timid little thing. All of seven years old)
Okay so some of my favorite fanart is little Izuku. Like they're always portrayed as positively tiny and the fact that Oboro is like seven foot tall and a scarred pro hero looking down at the itty bitty baby. I can only picture him looking down at Izuku before straight dropping to the floor to be on their level(also completely destroyed by the cute).
just
the woman he's already entirely smitten with and her tiny mini me in front of him. Never stood a chance.
-(He wants this.)
Understandable. As you should good sir
-('HOUSE HUSBAND OBORO, MALEWIFE OBORO')
rhtngjrakhuriwalngbjdksal I can't this entire ask!!!!!!
Like the image of this giant man in an apron that is meant for a 5'1" woman is fucking priceless, but the care of him making them meals and I just know that Inko became the most popular person at work for the next month solely for the gossip.(before things took a turn) Plus matching Izuku's socks by hero team up 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I love it so much!!!!!
-(DadOboro introducing his son to his best friends and little fanboy Izuku’s reaction)
I feel like this is a requirement. I think I need to learn to draw at this point, I 'll pencil it in somewhere, because I need to see this visually almost as much as I need caffeine.
-(when Oboro plops down on the couch next to him one day and asks if Izuku comfortable meeting them)
Oboro, my love, of course your fankid is going to lose their absolute shit at the opportunity. So cavalier about it, just drop next to them like hey, let me make all of your dreams come true.
~I have a weird thing about cavalier announcements about big things. My dad sorted my mail when he told me he had cancer the first time, like while he was talking. It left a mark😅😅 I need you to be as serious as what you are telling me is!!!~
-(the closest Tenya has ever gotten to a tantrum is when the train broke down and nearly made him late to daycare.)
djegilhaekagyhjaklefnrethro 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 If this isn't the most accurate descriptor of the little Iida oh my god
-(He asks Tenya about his favorite hero.)
The fact that these men have to come to terms with the fact that their biggest fans are giant hero fanboys(kids) that live in their house. AHAHAHAHA I know Shouta and Hizashi gave them sooo much shit for it. Only for the tables to turn later.
-(Shouta is very clearly A Favorite(tm))
As he should be. I come to the decision that if you don't like Shouta, I don't trust you. But for him to be Izuku's idol as a hero osdjkahgejkwabngmdfmaluigj.
-(Shouta looks in a mirror with Erasure in because he was laughing too hard and please won’t you tell me?)
I need to know this. like seriously 🤣🤣🤣 '
-(There’s not so much of a gender crisis that night as a gender revelation.)
Oh the impact of Hizashi *my heart*
-(Oboro Vs. Izuku’s elementary school.)
I need a whole stage production of this. Like broadway level. Complete with songs.
-(they won’t look at him when they say they forgot it at school.)
Those aren't flags anymore, that's a banner on a plane, that's sky writing, that a billboard on the interstate. Oh honey....
-(The man working the desk in the office sneers)
and that's a one way ticket to the hospital with a broken jaw. Oboro is absolutely making up a story to cover for Inko here. Because I know for damn sure he taught her how to knock someone on their ass. "He tripped, and fell straight into her fist, it was the oddest thing. And sorry about the security cameras, lost control of my quirk for a second, can't see a damn thing through the clouds. My bad"
-(if he doesn’t see his kid right now something very bad is going to happen.)
Oof that intuition must suck sometimes my guy.
-Okay soo the fact that the guy was just like fine whatever go, without checking paperwork is absolutely infuriating to me, as someone who (as a services provider) had to be escorted to the room I was meeting someone in 🤬🤬
But the absolute joy that Oboro felt when Inko made him official on the paperwork. Oh my goooooooood
-(Izuku sits at a table alone covered in trash and scraps clearly not left by them.
Then Izuku reaches for their pencil case, battered and mostly empty even though Oboro just bought them new pens and pencils a week ago, and he sees the red mark on their wrist when their sleeve moves.)
Oboro will level the school. It will look just like this. dramatic effect and all. Inko hit the detonator(she wouldn't have managed to stand through the force generated)
-(They were even less prepared for a Incredibly Pissed Inko Midoriya still in her scrubs from the hospital to descend on them with all the wrath of a mother bear protecting her cub.)
As much as I love a good, bad mom Inko Aizawa adopts Izuku story, there's something so special about empowered momma bear Inko. Just perfection.
-(has him call up Tensei so they can start the transfer to Tenya’s school that night)
That stings the pride. Oh sweets, I'm sorry😭😭😭
-(Imagine the sludge villain attack still happening years down the line. Imagine the conversation with All Might being mostly the same. Imagine, alone and heartbroken and on a roof, Izuku hits the emergency beacon their dad gave him with a promise to always come if they needed him.
Imagine Oboro’s rage when he finally hears what happened.)
djgavjkghalngjekwargh FUCK YESSSSS ♾️/10 no notes. Need it like I need oxygen. please please please and thank you brilliant one.
-(Thinking about the combined ADHD energy of the two of them leading to flour and mess everywhere but they’re laughing and hushing each other so they don’t wake Inko up.)
IF THAT ISN"T THE SWEETEST GODDAMN MENTAL IMAGE ON THIS GODFORSAKEN EARTH SDHJGHRJKEGSJDKghjkelsngjial
Art! Art!!! I neeeeeeed it!!!
-(when they get more serious he helps her divorce Hisashi, does this happen and how does he react?)
*maniacal cackling* of course it does... and he must suffer 😈😈
-(Endeavor once made a snide comment but got quiet real quick when Oboro asked how much older he was than his wife.)
Fuck Endeavor. I hope someone empties multiple fire extinguishers on him on live television, before someone(Oboro) punts him off a cliff like he's aiming for a field goal. Scorecards are necessary.
-(Particularly after he cuts the “locker room talk” real short)
Gentlemen of the internet, take note. Locker room talk is bullshit when it's about femme presenting folks!!!!
- (She knows that there’s a type that men like Oboro tend to chase after and it’s not her. She’s short, has packed on a few pounds between late shifts and being a single mom, and while she sees herself as pretty she’s no model.)
Fuck beauty standards. That man would cause hurricanes to protect her. And Inko has MILF energy 💯
-(And he chose her. Time and time again)
^^^ Me when reading this
-(Oboro chose her, respected her, loved her and at the end of the day that was all that mattered.)
👏👏👏
-(It hurt, however, when Mitsuki pulled away.)
Ouch, like I find the canonical Bakugou family dynamics interesting as hell, but Mitsuki is always a wild card to me. Masaru seems to be much calmer. But this hurts. Like there's nothing like a friend to stab you in the back like this to leave scars that never fully heal and split open with just the slightest pressure.
-(Hizashi alone was responsible for the end of no less than fifteen journalists’ careers and Nezu sunk so many gossip rags and talk shows that he is the Macbeth of the industry.)
We love a social powerhouse or two.
-(He had all but forgotten his wife and kid. Had moved on. Then he gets served divorce papers and his perfect little fantasy shatters around him.)
Just desserts mother fucker!!!!!
-(I want to talk to my wife”
“Who?”
“Midoriya. Inko.”
“Oh I think you mean my future wife.”)
jfkgavnrjskdgh mcvjakghsjbnjef YYEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS
-(So when Hisashi figures out Inko’s address (cough stalks her cough) and Oboro opens the door still half in costume with his bow staff draped over his shoulders and a scowl on his face because Inko definitely clocked that she was being followed and he has no patience for anyone that upsets his family)
Oh Oboro absolutely got laid that night. Izuku suddenly had a sleepover somewhere and Inko absolutely leapt on that ass. Not because she needed defending noooo, but the primitive hindbrain said fuck yes, to the impeccable specimen of a man intimidating the fuck out of the weasel that made her and her child's lives miserable for years.
-(squaring up with some low ranked hero)
She'd win. Hands down, no quirks necessary. Nope. My money's on her, any other bet is a sucker's bet. The rooftops found the popcorn and have scorecards ready and waiting for the absolute smack down
-So the combination of OfA and a big fucking stick still makes me cackle. Feral Izuku getting Yagi's attention and him pedo creepy stalking this fucking child home to use their fucked up power imbalance and pass along the quirk. Izuku should not be allowed to make big decisions without a full committee hearing.
-(she is going to shove her foot so far up the number one hero’s ass that he is going to be tasting her laces for the rest of his damn life.
Oboro breaks his jaw the next day.)
AHAHAHAHAHAHHAGUJKAGSKDGHNJKWALGNF Something about this landed just right to me and I fucking lost it reading that. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
-(BONK BONK BONK BONK)
Nothing further. No notes. Perfection. B O N K🤣🤣🤣🤣
-(I know I said that the experience of being hunted by the rooftops and Inko was unique but for Yagi it is becoming distressingly common.)
Okay but like, he should be terrified of Inko. Not just because she is Momma. But because she has multiple pro heroes that would actively cover up her crimes. Like you will never convince me that if it was for Izuku, any of the Rooftops would stop her. Noooo they would help her hide the evidence/body.
-(Oboro is very much the “actually sit on my face and if I die, I die doing what I love” Kind of man.)
As he should be.
-(ittle Zuku at maybe like ten at one of the galas Oboro has to go to in a cute little dress and sneakers)
art i neeeeeed aaarrrrttt
I can make king size blankets with a hook and string, I can make booties and hats. I can bind books, but I can't draw anything more than a stick figure and I'm so fucking angry about it.
Like everything about the gala is fucking perfection. Izuku standing on Oboro's feet when dancing, tiny sneakers and their giant counterparts. The Todoroki kids death glaring their father. Attempts at a waltz. Oh my god hgdjahterjaklnvfjkdalghuer
-"Found a stick on the ground" will forever be the best in universe joke of this AU. Because not only will Oboro never let it die, Izuku has got to make troll videos using the sound and stealing Oboro's staff. Like the idea of them with social media is amazing but like can you imagine. Oboro comes home and Izuku is very much playing it cool, only to be asked, "do you have any idea about why I may have been called in by my agency's PR department today?" Izuku "nope" runs for it.
-(Hisashi gets every headline of the three of them sent to him in triplicate.)
gkveajnrgjeaklngj AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH SUFFER@!!!!!!!f
-Everything about the engagement and wedding. EVERYTHING I don't have wooooorrrdsss. Like the proposal is fantastic. Big on family, but small and of course there has to be glitter! And the backyard wedding with Flower Child Izuku turning petals into weapons. And the viral reception videos. I would pay money to see those actually
-Tattooed Oboro hhhnnnnnnggghhh OjgkahgrjklSOH MY GOD Yes. Please. Papaboro with the markers and bonding and looking fine as hell in the process and the earning of the baby's truuuussttt
-(Hizashi stumbles a cross a sad purple child while out on patrol and takes him home and suddenly Izuku has a cousin.
Oboro goes full gender reveal “It’s a boy”
Ten year old Hitoshi realizes he is the only sane member of his new family real quick.)
Okay but is he though??? 😁😁😁 I love this though. sososoooo much. Like they give each other a ton of shit but Oboro must've went full fun uncle in .02 seconds and Izuku had to have their first three sleepovers planned in his notebook before the party even started(the confidence is there people!!!)
And confetti cannons!!!!!!!
-Okay so the word prompts are great and the idea of Oboro and Hizashi both constantly losing staring contests to Shouta (who's quirk relies entire on his ability to keep his eyes open) is priceless. I know Nemuri just called them idiots and said, 'I know a losing battle when I see one'
and the home prompt!!! Like oh my god. Is that to Inko? Or Oboro? Either way I'm here for it but I'm super fucking excited for the context.
and (some unholy intersection between traumatized kids clinging to the only sources of comfort and stability they had ever known and disgruntled siblings shoved into the back seat of a cramped car for a ten hour road trip, one stray elbow away from outright bloodshed.)
nghjeaklgnjreaghrjkagn ahahahahhahahahahahahah fucking accurate. My parents specifically bought a van that had a dvd player to try to stop of from fighting and it still didn't work. Alll the sibling energy here!!!!!!
AAAAAHHHHH I love this AU so much. Like Izuku deserve a dad that will go to bat for them every time. Including breaking the number one hero's jaw. And a crew of aunt, uncles and Bibi that will have an open door and a training schedule for them whenever they want. I'd also love to see Hitoshi brainwash Bakugou into punching himself in the face when they get to UA(when he makes the mistake of calling Izuku Deku), before that pomeranian is thrown in mandatory therapy from now until eternity.
I'm seriously so excited for this to come to life someday. Like it's going to be so fantastic!!!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is another one I keep wanting to come back to. I’ve had like 90% of a chapter (and most of a smut oneshot) written for this forever but I for the life of me cannot get it finished. I will definitely come back to it though I love it so much.

“Todoroki-san…” Shouto had never cared about honorifics before, but something about Midoriya’s voice speaking his name with such careful, precise formality made him feel like he’d stepped into a fog of humid air. It was thick and oppressive and uncomfortably stifling in a way his quirk could never abate. “It’s not Ka—Bakugou-san—it’s not him I’m avoiding. I mean,” he bit his lip in the same way Midoriya did when he wanted to slow his speech, to ensure he took the time to choose his words carefully, “it’s true that it’s weird for me. It’s not just the cousin thing. Or, I mean, maybe it is, in the end, but it’s just…where I’m from, my Katsuki, he’s always protected me. So it’s odd, being near yours. I know your Izuku isn’t me, but…well, we’re similar, right? I think maybe we have to be. So I don’t like the idea that there’s a version of me out there that a version of my cousin could hate. But more than that…Todoroki-san, more than that, the person I’m avoiding is you.” “Midoriya.” He wasn’t sure what he was going to say and he wasn’t given time to figure it out before Midoriya was speaking again. “I’m sorry,” he said, gripping the edges of his jacket and twisting them in his hands. It was a nervous gesture he’d seen dozens of times, performed by hands that were rough and mangled and broken and nothing at all like the pristine hands he was now looking at. “I’m sorry,” Midoriya repeated. “It’s such an awkward situation. I sort of…I thought maybe your teachers, or your heroes, or whatever it is, I was hoping they would figure things out and this wouldn’t come up. But they haven’t and…I’m so sorry, but if I’m being honest, Todoroki-san, it really hurts to look at you and it feels unfair, because the others, they say I look a little different from your Izuku, but for me, you look just the same. You look exactly like my Shouto, so when I see you, it’s hard because…because in my world, Shouto is…he’s everything, Todoroki-san. To me, I mean. He’s everything. And I know he feels the same because he looks at me like I’m everything, so when I see you and you’re looking at me like you don’t like me, and it’s with his eyes—” “I do like you,” he interrupted. “Or him. Midoriya. The one from my world. He’s one of my best friends.” Midoriya smiled and any words Shouto had left to speak turned to dust in his mouth. Midoriya smiled like he’d been hurt. He smiled like he wanted to apologize for his own injuries. “It’s not that kind of like, Todoroki-san.” Understanding bled through him like a slow-growing stain, permanently altering the fabric of his person. “You mean…you and me…?” “Right. And so that’s why. A Katsuki that isn’t my cousin and a Katsuki that dislikes me…that’s odd and it makes me feel a little strange, but it isn’t something I can’t handle. But a Shouto that treats me like I’m only a friend…that’s more than I can bear. So please. I know I’m overexerting myself. I know it isn’t healthy to keep practicing like this. But right now, this is all I have. So please, Todoroki-san.”
Don’t mind me, I’m just back on my nonsense. Anyone who knows me knows I love Idol Izuku, so this is just based on one of the many daydreams I’ve had on that subject. In this one, a quirk accident causes Izuku to swap places with an Izuku from an alternate universe. This Izuku is cousins with Katsuki (thus the eye color change), has a quirk that is related to increased agility (which he uses for dancing), and is dating Shouto. In this world, there are no heroes or villains, but simply law enforcement and criminals. Quirks aren’t as strong or diverse as they are in the normal bnha world. UA exists, but rather than training heroes, it’s simply a renowned school for specialized career training. Izuku is in their music academy, under Hizashi. Shouto and Katsuki are in the law academy, maybe?? Katsuki wants to grow up to be Izuku’s bodyguard, lol. Enji is a professional fighter—sort of a quirk MMA type of thing—and he wants Shouto to follow in his footsteps. Shouto doesn’t want to. I’m thinking he might want to be a defense attorney. Anyway, I’m never going to write this as a fic but enjoy this little blurb!
#skylldraws#i mostly just wanted to draw izuku with red eyes let’s be real#it’s that good red green complimentary color scheme#and of course I’ll make any excuse to draw him wearing idol junk#you should draw idol izuku too#and then send it to me#midoriya izuku#idol midoriya#idol izuku#deku#tododeku#tddk#tododeku drabble#tododeku ficlet#todoizu#todoroki x deku#shouto x izuku#todoroki x midoriya#tddk fanart#bnha

I kinda wonder, what could bakugou do (hori write bakugou to do) to make him less popular with the "anti" crowd. Like He was a horrid child no doubt and people who try to put blame on Deku or lessen the terrible shit bakugou did aren't great. But as we don't rly see it, we have to assume bakugous behaviour wasn't stopped, we only ever saw his mum "punishing" him when he was being rude after getting kiddnapped. Nothing will excuse what bakugou did, but he has stopped? He's overall a harsh person but he's not harrassing and bullying people anymore, specifically not deku, he's trying to attone for what he did to deku and has now apologised for it. His behaviour was never viewed as justified or good in the series, he's a scary figure in middle school, we're not meant to like his behaviour, so the series itself hasn't justified his actions.
As someone who relate to both bakugou and deku more than I'd like to admit (never told someone to jump tho, that's fucked lol) so I can 100% understand not liking or even hating bakugou but as someone who's not 15 anymore, looking back I also made a lot of really shitty decisions and like bakugou have tried to make up for it, and like deku I was 'friends' with people who hurt me.
Is there anything he can do for the "antis" to just dislike him rather that be "anti"?
(I'm very sorry if you've talked about this somewhere, you can just tell me to look for it if you have, I'll continue to look for your posts on the subject)
Hey there, anon! I think I’ve spoken about this only tangentially and/or in my main Bakugo meta, which is too big for anyone sane to read. So yeah, let’s chat here!
For me personally—and that’s all I can ever do: speak personally. I think it’s important to keep in mind that there is no single solution to please the “anti” crowd. Each fan will be looking for something slightly different in Bakugo’s character, much of which might contradict what a “stan” is currently enjoying. Given how charged a character he is, I'm not sure it's possible to get the entire fandom to like him—what I’m looking for hinges on having a different reading of the story than you seem to. Meaning, I think the series does justify his behavior. Not in any overt, super obvious way like having all the characters go, “Wow, Bakugo! I sure do love how you threaten people all the time. That’s super cool and heroic!” Things are rarely that straightforward. Rather, it’s in a more subtle, but consistent manner that paints a rather conclusive picture across hundreds of chapters.
Simply put, Bakugo is continually rewarded for his actions. Or, if not outright rewarded, his actions are ignored in a way that implies silent acceptance. Characters may not always like what he does... but they're willing to let it slide because Bakugo's heroism was always treated as a given, not something he had to earn and prove.
With the ever necessary disclaimer that I’m not fully caught up yet, here’s a list of some of the things that stood out to me in the first half of the series:
Bakugo’s bullying made him the most popular kid in school.
Bakugo’s bullying was ignored by/outright supported by the teachers.
Bakugo’s bullying did not hinder him from getting into U.A., one of the most prestigious hero schools around.
Despite acting horribly throughout his time at U.A. too, this behavior was continually ignored by the teachers and other authority figures around him.
Bakugo’s struggle to realize that other people aren’t “trash” doesn’t hurt his achievements in any way. He still gets top scores, still wins the tournament, etc.
Bakugo’s behavior gets him special attention from All Might, the greatest hero and Bakugo’s personal idol.
His behavior doesn’t make others dislike him in any manner that’s taken seriously. Everybody is still willing to not just put up with Bakugo, but—in time—start treating his behavior as a quirk (no pun intended lol) that they’re secretly fond of, rather than something he should legitimately be striving to change. Kirishima is the most overt example of this.
This is compounded by his behavior constantly being framed as humorous. Much like with Mineta’s perverted actions, characters might superficially go, “No, that’s bad!” but the story never demands any significant development because then we’d lose the “joke” of Bakugo screaming in rage at the slightest inconvenience, threatening to murder someone over nothing, constantly belittling everyone around him in a “funny” manner, etc. When fans talk about development of a manga character as archetypal and extreme as Bakugo, most don’t really want to see significant change to his base personality. Because then that would result in someone who doesn’t look like the “real” Bakugo: someone nicer, more even-tempered, more mature, etc. But for those of us who were never drawn to that personality in the first place, the continued acceptance of his rude, egotistical, and violent behavior is discomforting. The easiest comparison I can draw is between this and Bakugo’s mother slapping him. That slap is meant to be another “joke”—we see it constantly in shonen anime, something "humorous" you shouldn’t take too seriously because haha, it's just an overprotective mother—but many fans do take it seriously, using it as the basis for a whole “Bakugo was abused and this explains his behavior” reading. Well, I take the “joke” of Bakugo’s threats and insults seriously, especially in a story that starts with something like telling Izuku to jump off the roof. In the same way that many fans want others to treat Bakugo’s mother as a serious topic that has had a negative influence on his development, I want the series to take Bakugo’s everyday actions seriously as a negative influence on… well, everyone around him. But it doesn’t. His base personality is grudgingly adored.
The above two points are seen most overtly in Izuku, who never wavers in his respect for Bakugo despite how Bakugo treats him. Not just prior to U.A., but during their training too. Izuku, as the protagonist, is the emotional heart of this tale, so when he talks about how inspiring Bakugo is, it encourages the reader to see his behavior as inspiring too. Rather than, as said, something that needs to change. Izuku's continued friendship with Bakugo, his adoration of him, and his acceptance of the way he's treated has severely warped how the entire story sees Bakugo's actions. After all, if #pure Izuku can see the good in Bakugo, why can't everyone else? He must not be that bad after all.
I could get into detailed analyses of all the above—like how Bakugo was the one comforted after attacking Izuku outside the dorms at night and how the messed up relationship he has with Izuku is upheld as something to nurture; how the remedial courses he had to take were made to be rather silly, thereby undermining their supposed importance to his development; how Bakugo’s kidnapping had nothing to do with his flaws, but much of the fandom uses it as a way to dismiss any appropriate consequences because, “Hasn’t he suffered enough?” etc.—but in the interest of keeping this within a readable length, I’ll leave it at that. The point is that Bakugo has always been privileged when it comes to his behavior, resulting in others either outright praising it, ignoring it, or demanding that he change a miniscule bit, which always keeps him far below the standards of both his peers and the expectations of a hero. Everyone in 1-A must learn to be even better than the good people they already are... Bakugo needs to learn that other people aren't dirt at the bottom of his shoes. It's never been a particularly impressive development when pit against the rest of the class. All of which can make something like an apology feel pretty hollow. Yes, he’s apologized and I say with all seriousness that that’s great! But how does that apology stack up against 300+ chapters of content? As Bakugo’s words highlight, he's been a really awful person up "until now": he was consumed by Izuku being “miles ahead of [him],” he “looked down on [him]” because he didn’t have a quirk, he “didn’t want to recognize that,” he “hated that,” “grew distant,” “tried to beat you down,” “opposed you and tried to show my superiority over you,” and ends it all with, “it probably doesn’t mean anything telling you all this” before finally getting to the “I’m sorry.” This is basically a laundry list of how horrible a person Bakugo has been for the entire series, with an acknowledgement that this apology is coming really, really late. This is the moment where I could START to like Bakugo, depending on how he acts form here on out, but that pivotal moment arrived after six years of content and in the final arc of the story. It’s too late. Bakugo needed this kind of self-reflection and positive action 250+ chapters ago so he could (hopefully) grow into a better person across the story, not at the story's end. What we got instead is 322 chapters of him being a really horrible person, but the story going out of its way to excuse or even praise that behavior the majority of the time.
As a quick comparison to end on, I think what Bakugo needed was what Soo Jin got in True Beauty. You don’t need to have seen the drama to follow along. The tl;dr is that she has a lot of the core qualities of Bakugo: an all-consuming drive to win that was created due to abusive parents with high expectations, resulting in her bullying a peer to a pretty horrific extent. The difference between them is how the story frames their actions. When Soo Jin becomes the bully she loses everything. Rather than succeeding academically, her grades plummet, making it clear that this anxiety and self-doubt (things the fandom keeps insisting Bakugo is struggling with, but that rarely ever show up in the text) is actually impacting her day-to-day life. Her best friend drops her because she’s not going to support her choices. The boy she likes rejects her. She’s eventually forced to start over somewhere new - which importantly separates her from the girl she was bullying - and get some distance from her parents, resulting in the growth needed to become a healthier, happier, good person again. So when Soo Jin apologizes to the girl she hurt, it feels earned. The story continually recognized how horrific her actions were and put her into a place where she either had to change, or continue losing at everything else that was important to her. Bakugo? Bakugo doesn’t lose. Oh, he claims he does because he’s comparing himself to Izuku constantly, but that’s just him thinking in extremes. He still wins academically. Still wins many battles. Still wins at having friends. Still wins by maintaining the prestige of being a U.A. student. Still wins by getting All Might’s attention. Still wins by receiving Izuku’s respect and an agreement to maintain this rivalry that Bakugo is so obsessed with. Bakugo comes out well 99% of the time, he just thinks he's "lost" because he can't stand not being the absolute best.
For me, the story needed to have Bakugo face consequences for his behavior, not receive rewards and/or have others ignore it, and that revelation/apology needed to come way, way sooner. For me the issue is not a specific action that Horikoshi can have Bakugo do in the next chapter and them bam, I like him now. The problem is Bakugo’s entire concept, how he’s received by the entire cast, and his run across this entire series. "Entire" is the key word there. Which is why the “But he’s apologized. What more do you antis want?” reactions don’t sit well. What we wanted is a better written redemption arc across those 300+ chapters, not a single scene that’s meant to have us forget all the other problems inherent in the story. At this point it’s a far more complicated situation than, “Bakugo just needs to do X, Y, and Z and then we’re golden.” At the end of the day, Horikoshi failed to make me like him as a person and I’m pretty sure he isn’t going to change Bakugo enough to make him likable to me. Bakugo was never the sort of character I’d be inclined towards without a serious, nuanced redemption arc, but sadly, a core, crucial part of that redemption arc took six years to arrive. At this point there’s no way to change the problems in Bakugo’s writing for that huge chunk of the series and not enough time left in the series, it seems, to do the work we should have seen across the entire run. Honestly, idk if the Bakugo we'll get going forward is someone I can just dislike as opposed to being really uncomfortable with, but my money is on there being too little story left and too much investment in upholding Bakugo's base personality for that to happen. I could absolutely be proven wrong! But I think the problems are structural and needed to be better dealt with from page one, not hastily patched over in the final hour.

BNHA Chapter 319 Spoiler Analysis: Found Family
Holy crap what a phenomenal chapter! This arc in general has been great, but this chapter might be one of my favorites of the arc. Not just because it focuses on Class 1-A (I’m so glad to see the kids again), but because of the growth we see in these kids in general especially Bakugo and Shoto IMO. Like, holy shit ESPECIALLY BAKUGO! I stand by my opinion that Bakugo is one of the best developed characters in the series. There’s so much I want to say about this chapter and I’ll try my best to do so if my poor injured left hand will let me 😭:
The chapter starts off with the first of 3 colored pages we’re going to get over the next few weeks to celebrate 7 YEARS OF MY HERO ACADEMIA!!! CONGRATS, HORIKOSHI-SENSEI!!! This series revived my love of anime/manga and really helped me in some really rough spots in my life. I will forever be grateful towards Horikoshi for bringing this series to life and blessing us with such an incredible story full of beautiful characters. MHA may be a little overrated, but I still think it deserves all the love it can get.
Anyway, the color page. It shows Uraraka, Iida (who has red eyes here, so IDK why the anime gives him blue eyes though I do think they work better for him personally *shrugs*), Shoto, Tokoyami, and Bakugo after basically figuring out where Deku went. Bakugo is shown tearing up his letter (which says something like “Thank you for being there, Kacchan”; there’s more but I can’t translate it 😭) and you can kinda see some bandage wrap around his arm where he was stabbed. Also, both Bakugo and Shoto still have some visible injuries on their faces and Bakugo’s hands, so they’re still recovering from the War. It’s a really pretty page in general and I can’t wait to see what the next 2 color pages are going to look like. I also kinda want Horikoshi to take a break after this too again so he doesn’t overwork himself. Maybe he’ll treat himself to the MHA: World Heroes Mission movie 🍿.
So, Shoto and Bakugo have figured out that Deku is most likely with Endeavor, Hawks, and Best Jeanist. Problem is that none of them are answering their phones. I like that Bakugo calls Best Jeanist “Pair of Denim Pants” 😂 and Shoto’s image of Endeavor is still a very angry version of his old man. Shoto’s still making amends with his father, but he’s still not THERE yet. Regardless, these kids are smart enough to know that something’s up. Especially since All Might hasn’t returned to UA either.
Its basically confirmed by Ojiro that because classes have been suspended, our Class 1-A kids are still 1-A; they haven’t moved into their second year yet. That clears up the confusion on whether we should still refer these group of kids as 1-A still or not.
Now Bakugo’s showing how much of a genius he really is despite his personality. Bakugo figures out that the Top 3 and All Might are working together as a group based on how they all connected with each other back at Central Hospital. Also, Bakugo concludes that All Might snuck Deku’s letters under their doors while Deku started running. Ultimately, Bakugo does know more about Deku and All Might more than anyone else does. He’s been around his childhood friend and he’s admired his idol longer than most people have. Bakugo understands how bad the situation is and he’s ready to take action.
As are the other kids. You can see how determined they are and you can see Kirishima’s black roots coming in 🥺! Even Uraraka gets some shine here by bringing up the idea to trick Endeavor to come via getting help from Principle Nezu as Endeavor was a UA student. It’s really interesting to see Ochako in a more serious roll than usual, but I actually like it. I hope she’s still as bubbly as she always was at the end of the day, but she’s definitely matured and grown a lot over the corse of the series. Even the simple things like her hair show it as it’s not as floaty as it was before. I love it when Horikoshi shows small details like this. It adds to the characters and stories a lot. Also, the art in this chapter is amazing.
And now it’s Endeavor vs. Class 1-A in a much needed conversation. All the kids are wearing their school uniforms to make this as formal and serious as they can. EVEN BAKUGO IS PROPERLY WEARING HIS TIE YOU KNOW SHIT’S ABOUT TO GO DOWN!!! And, I must say, Bakugo looks damn good with a tie 😳. You can also get a decent height measurement on the kids here if you want. Ngl, sometimes I forget that Shoto’s about 2 inches taller than Bakugo. It’s definitely the hair.
Shoto’s the first to step up and he scolds the hell out of his old man. Rightfully so tbh. Endeavor shouldn’t have ignored Shoto’s calls even though I kind of understood why. Shoto reminds Endeavor of their plan to stop Dabi though thankfully that’s what’s pushing Endeavor forward so he hasn’t forgotten. Shoto calls his father “Endeavor” and gets mad at him fro leaving Deku and All Might alone. The rough translations say he called Izuku “Deku” here too btw. Endeavor has no response. I think this anger Shoto’s unleashing is very justified and has been burning inside him since Deku left UA. His best friend just up and left him and his friends with nothing but a letter to kinda explain things. Also, Shoto and the rest of 1-A (minus Bakugo) have basically been lied to for about a year. I’d want answers too if someone did that to me.
Bakugo steps in by putting a hand on Shoto’s shoulder (🥺) to calm him down a bit and to say his piece. Ultimately, he thinks what Deku is doing is right, but that the way they’re all doing it is wrong. I love Deku and All Might, but they’re sacrificial idiots. They care more about others than they probably ever will themselves. That’s how All Might lost his OFA in the first place. It’s because of that that All Might doesn’t have it in him to stop Deku from going down this path. They shouldn’t have been left alone. Someone should’ve kept a closer eye on them. I know the Top 3 were all worried about getting too close to Deku before, but really, someone should’ve been watching them closer on the sidelines.
The next page is a really cool drawing of Endeavor flinging his phone to the kids to catch. The previous panels showed Endeavor with this face that’s regretful and I think he realized something: That Bakugo is right and that the kids might be better off finding Deku than he is. So he basically gives the kids his GPS on his phone. Those are just my thoughts, but it does look like that. I don't think Endeavor’s just going to up and give up though. He’s probably going to start rethinking things though.
As Sero manages to catch Endeavor’s phone, he and the rest of the kids think about how even though they’ve only known Deku for a year, they still think of him as family and cannot let him go down this thorny path alone. They’ll carry the OFA burden with him if they have to. They can’t smile without Deku around. These kids truly have become a family over the year. It’s amazing to see. Everyone’s like a brother and sister and it’s really nice to see. I just love Found Family stories, guys 😭❤️
And really quick, I want to focus on my ❄️🔥 boy, Shoto, really quick. As he’s thinking about Deku, he mentions how shocked he still is about Deku keeping OFA from them and how Deku thought just a letter would suffice. He has this sad look on his face like he’s trying to say: “I still can’t believe my best friend hid this from me for so long. Why? Did he not trust me?” That’s just my interpretation. Still, I can’t imagine how upset Shoto must feel. I think he still cares a lot about Deku enough to go out and find him, but he’s gotta feel some sort of betrayal. More so than the other students outside of Bakugo because, again, Deku was essentially Shoto’s best and closest friend 💙😭
Endeavor is rightfully worried about letting the kids out in the state of Japan right now, but now Principle Nezu speaks up and praises the kids on growing up so well. He’s also took into account Deku's feelings about his mission which is why he agreed to the team up. Also, Deku’s still welcome back to UA whenever he wants thank god ☺️. He’s a student who has to be protected. There’s a cute panel of Uraraka and her mom crying happily after getting her acceptance letter too. Not 100% why this is shown other than Acceptance Letter part, but it’s cute to see. Maybe Ochako realizes how much Deku needs to be protected or something.
As for the refugees, Nezu had the security system strengthened in time for the Cultural Festival earlier, but they never used it before. It’s call The UA Barrier. God, how strong is this thing? Is it strong enough to stop Shigaraki who was able to Decay the last barrier? This seems like something that’ll be used in the final battle TBH.
So, Nezu trust the 1-A kids to bring Deku back home. Which is exactly what they plan to do as all 19 of them enter Kamino in a badass full page. I actually wasn’t sure if all 19 of them were there at first since I couldn’t find Shoto for the life of me, but then my eyes saw the BIG-ASS ICE WALL IN THE BACK AND I THOUGHT “OH THERE HE IS!!!” LOL 😂
The next panel actually does show Shoto with Momo as they capture the villain from the last chapter. Momo politely calls Bakugo “Bakugo-san”, but Bakugo demands that he be called his insane hero name: “GREAT EXPLOSION MURDER GOD DYNAMIGHT”! I CAN’T WITH THIS DUDE SOMETIMES WHY DO I LOVE HIM SO MUCH 💥🧡
Deku sees his friend and wonders why they came. Ochako answers because that they were worried about him, but Deku tries to convince everyone (including himself) that he’s fine. He’s obviously not and Bakugo calls TF out on him! He even drops a good F-bomb for good measure. Bakugo mocks Deku for trying to act like All Might and asks Deku if he can even smile right now. I actually really like it that Bakugo’s calling Deku out on his shit. I think Deku needs some good tough love right now to knock some sense into him. Who would be better to do that than Katsuki Bakugo himself?
As Deku is trying to convince everyone that’s he’s fine (while still looking like a demon btw), there’s a small focus on Iida. Actually, a few panels this chapter have focused on Iida. Maybe he’s remembering the time Deku saved him back when they went up against Stain. Deku saved him then so it’s now Iida’s turn to save Deku. Also, Iida hasn’t gotten much focus lately and I really like his character, so I’m glad he’s being brought back to the forefront again. Also, I like hearing Kaito-san’s voice in general so I’d be happy to hear him again (thanks for that one, Haikyuu).
The final spread shows Deku telling everyone to move away while Bakugo, Iida, and Ochako get ready to stop him. IT’S DEKU VS. CLASS 1-A!!! WE’RE ENTERING CIVIL WAR FOLKS!!! Seriously, though, this is great. I was thinking that it would be just Bakugo and a few other students finding Deku. Instead we got the whole class. And looks like that “helping hand” thing will happen later because we got a battle to fight first.
Bakugo’s become a damn fine leader and I love to see his growth every freaking time🧡! I like how Iida has his hand on Bakugo’s back to support him btw. It’s weird that Shoto’s not in this page though. He’s one of Deku’s best friends, so I would think he would be in this page along with Bakugo and his first 2 friends (Ochako and Iida). Maybe Horikoshi’s saving Shoto for a more 1-on-1 conversation with Deku. God, I hope that happens because I think along with Bakugo, Shoto deserves a good talk with Deku the most.
Honestly, I’m not sure who would win this battle. I’ve been going through scenarios in my head on who would win, but I can’t come to a solid answer. Class 1-A has 19 versatile Quirks under their belt and they have more energy than Deku to fight, but Deku still has 6 insanely powerful Quirks that he’s been practicing for a while. The kids could probably win if they strategize enough and use Deku’s exhaustion against him, but again, Deku has OFA and multiple other Quirks. If he could beat Lady Nagant, one of the best snipers around, he might be able to beat the 1-A kids. He could just escape with Smoakscreen, Black Whip, and Float if he wants to really. That would put 1-A on another wild goose chase. There’s also Deku’s Danger Sense which will be a pain to deal with. Also, Deku said that he’s as strong as All Might was in his prime with Fa-Jin and OFA combined. Only AFO and Shigaraki were strong enough to take on THAT. Plus, we still don’t know what the 2nd OFA Holder’s Quirk is yet. Deku might use it in this battle. God, I have so many theories in my head now. I think this battle will be awesome, but ultimately, I want Deku to come home 😭💚

Where Is My Friend || Platonic! Izuku Midoriya x Reader
Summary: You and Izuku walk home together.
SFW // angst to light fluff
Word Count: 1915
WARNINGS: swearing, crying, all might slander, allusions to su*cide, otherwise none
A/N: i hate all might as a teacher. sometimes i just wanna reach through the screen and punch him for the things he tells izuku to do. this is why i made this.
~~
Izuku was late again that day, and this time you were more disappointed than mad.
With each student that passed by you and through the gates, you grew more and more irritated. You were trying to hide your annoyed expression by burying it in your phone, scrolling mindlessly through the various apps you had downloaded. Every now and again, you would check through your messages again, double and triple checking that you hadn't somehow missed a text from Izuku.
Every time, there was nothing.
Your brow furrowed when you checked it for the fifth time, forcing you to let out a silent frustrated sigh.
Izu, are you ready to go?
I'm out front
Are you still coming?
Hellloooo??? Where are you???
You promised, Izuku.
All of these messages, and no reply.
This wasn't a new occurrence. Every single day it was like this, and you would oftentimes just go home alone in silence. Izuku would always call and text to apologize to you afterwards, though.
At first you would pick up the phone. But, it slowly became less and less, to eventually nothing at all.
You were angry for a long time, but it all eventually boiled down into a soft, quiet frustration. You wondered to yourself a lot why you even bothered trying anymore. Those thoughts eventually drifted off into memories of middle school, and that quiet, timid, nerdy boy that you made your best friend.
You wondered where that boy went.
You looked up from your phone and looked at the campus around you. The area was bathed in an orange light, giving everything a warm and cozy glow. It was a beautiful spring afternoon, one that you would unfortunately most likely spend alone. Looking back down at your phone, you checked the time. It was getting somewhat late, and you knew your parents would start to worry about you if you didn't head back soon.
Five more minutes. You would give him five more minutes.
Letting out another sigh through your nose, you continued to scroll through your apps, not paying too close attention to what you were seeing. Every other second, you would peer up at the top of the screen, hoping to see the familiar bar of a notification up there.
None ever came.
A handful of photos and news articles later, and you decided to call it a quits. It had been more than five minutes, and there was still no sign of Izuku. Not one single thing.
Fuck it. You were going home.
Clicking your phone to sleep and putting it in your jacket pocket, you squared your backpack on your shoulders and stepped down the stairs of the front entrance, staring ahead at the gate with a blank expression.
Going to U.A. was you and his dream as kids. You remembered how the two of you would draw pictures of your hero costumes together, how you would spend hours of the phone coming up with the ideal schedule the two of you would have and what classes you would take.
Where did all that go? All those late nights? All those days the two of you got bullied? All those times you would tell Bakugou to fuck off when he was mean to Izuku? All the times Izuku told you to be nicer to Kacchan?
Was it all for nothing?
Were you just a memory now?
Were you not good enough to be his friend anymore?
All because of his new quirk?
It's not fair.
Not fair.
Not fair.
Not fai-
"Y/N!" you heard a voice from behind you shout, along with the rapid tapping of shoes against concrete.
It was him.
You stopped in your tracks and turned around, looking at him with a somewhat surprised expression. His green hair was the usual mess, and he was somewhat sweatier than normal. He ran quickly to catch up with you, breathing heavily once he was by your side.
You looked down at him in silence, your face unchanging.
"I'm-I'm so sorry I'm late!" He exclaimed, getting better control over his breathing, "I-I was just taking off my costume after hero training today and one of the teachers wanted to talk to me after and I-"
"It's getting late." You said, cutting him off, "We should get going."
You started to walk towards the gate again, and Izuku stared at you with a somewhat confused expression.
"Right..." he responded quietly, following by your side.
The two of you walked in silence for a good, long while. Izuku would keep looking at you to try and grab your attention, but you ignored him every time. You kept your gaze trained on your feet on the sidewalk, his red shoes in your peripheral.
You didn't want to talk. You just wanted to go home.
Go home and never talk to anyone again.
Izuku tried giving you one of his bright, warm smiles, but you ignored that too. As much as you didn't want to admit it, Izuku didn't smile the same anymore. There was something always behind his smile, something that you couldn't quite figure out.
The two of you used to share everything together, and now he was doing nothing but keeping secrets from you. You were quick to notice this, and you began to do your own digging.
You were observant, you always had been.
What you saw, you knew no one would believe you, though.
You just kept it to yourself, leaving it to rot deep inside you and plant its seeds of bad.
It was eating you alive, and you were angry.
"It's uhh..." Izuku said next to you, "It's a pretty day outside, isn't it?"
You said nothing and just kept staring down at your feet.
"It was a fun day at school too, huh?"
Nothing.
"What class did you like most?" I really liked Mr. Aizawa's today. I like it when he tells stories about his time at U.A."
Nothing.
"I also really liked All Might's cla-"
"Don't."
Izuku was definitely taken aback by your sudden, harsh response, his smile instantly fading away and his brows arching downwards.
"What... (Y/N), wh-what do you mean-"
You stopped walking abruptly, giving Izuku a glare through your lashes.
"Do not mention that man."
Izuku stopped walking too, looking at you with confusion and a touch of shock.
"You mean All Might? (Y/N), why? I thought you loved him as much as I-"
"I don't fucking love him anymore, Izuku!" you snapped, "But how would you know, huh? HOW?"
"(Y/N), what are you saying?"
"Don't play dumb with me, Izuku!" you threw your backpack off your shoulders, the extra weight only adding to your fury, "Even before we got into this shitty fucking school, you've done nothing but fucking blow me off and ignore me! I try to call, you don't answer. I try to text, you don't answer. I go over to your fucking house looking for you, and you're not there either! Do you have any clue how fucking lonely that makes me feel?! Knowing my best friend, my ONLY friend, wants nothing to do with me?!"
Izuku slid off his backpack too, his expression now more worried than anything, "(Y/N), I wasn't trying to ignore you. I-I just-"
"Just what Izuku. Just where have you been, hm? Tell me."
The green haired boy's gaze fell to the ground.
"I... I can't."
You raised your hands up and let them drop to your sides, a laugh of disbelief bubbling out of your throat.
"Fine, I'll finish it for you. You've been hanging out with fucking All Might, haven't you?"
Izuku's gaze shot back up to you, his eyes wide. He opened his mouth to say something, but you cut him off.
"Ah- don't even goddamn try. I know you have been, Izuku. Do you think I'm fucking stupid? Do you think I'm fucking naieve? I fucking see how you two talk to each other. How you have lunch with him every goddamned fucking day. How he always focuses on you during training. How he keeps you after school."
Izuku just simply looked at you in silence, trying to process what to say.
You felt tears welling up in your eyes, but you decided to continue anyway, "And I know, I know he's been putting shit in your head. Not letting you think for yourself, telling you that it's okay to hurt yourself. How it's noble and honorable to be bedridden for fucking weeks to save people. How you should never prioritize yourself. Well goddamn it it's WRONG Izuku! It's fucking wrong! It's wrong to tell a kid that. It's wrong to take him away from his friends. It's wrong to have fucking favorites!"
You were full on crying now, and probably looked completely out of your goddamned mind.
You didn't care.
"He was my hero too, Izuku!" you continued on, hot tears pouring down your face, "But more importantly you were my hero! You were the only person in that shitty fucking middle school that I could confide in. You were the only friend I had, and that fucking bitch took you from me! Every day I go home and beg for my friend to come back to me. I don't give a single fuck what that old man says, I need my friend back! I'm so tired of it! I'm tired of feeling like nothing, like no one wants to be around me anymore! I'm t-tired, I'm... I...."
Unable to keep yourself together anymore, you fell onto your knees and sat back on your ankles, wiping your face on the back of your hands and wrists as you sobbed.
"I just... I miss you, Izuku."
You broke down again after that, crying there on the ground for a good minute. This was probably embarrassing the hell out of you, but you didn't care anymore. You didn't care about anything anymore. You were certain that Izuku would want nothing to do with you anymore. You just both dissed him and his number one idol.
There was no hope for you and him now.
After sitting there for a good minute bawling your eyes out, Izuku gently knelt down in front of you. You could feel his big, green eyes on your face, but you didn't look up at him. From your blurred vision, you couldn't tell how he was looking at you, but you figured it couldn't be good.
You were wrong.
Suddenly and without warning, you felt two strong arms wrap around your fame, your head being pulled into a chest covered with a uniform shirt and tie. Your cries softening, you were quick to realize who they all belonged to.
Izuku.
"(Y/N)," he said, his voice soft but firm, "I didn't know you felt that way. You are my best friend, too. I didn't mean to forget about you. I was never trying to make you feel that way."
Izuku hugged you tighter, resting his chin on the top of your head.
"From now on, I promise I'll always make time for you. You're my hero too, (Y/N). Without you with me in middle school, I... I would have..."
You didn't need to hear him finish for you to connect the dots.
After along moment of fleeting, renowned silence, you wrapped your arms around the boy, holding him tight against you.
You vowed to yourself then and there, that you would never ever let him go again.

Why Do You Feel So Close (But You’re Oh So Far Away?)
Major manga spoilers in this fic
Rescue missions aren’t the sprint that combat missions are, Ochako is quickly learning. Rescue missions are a marathon. And, yes, time is still an important factor, but on her track, endurance—of her body, of her mind, of her spirit—reigns supreme.
The fact of the matter is, Ochako's tired. She's tired, on so many levels, but mostly she's tired of this limbo. Her life is on hold. No matter how she chooses to fill her time, Ochako knows she's just biding time: waiting for another attack, waiting for the cities to be put back together again, waiting for school to start.
Waiting for Deku to wake up.
—x—Day 1—x—
"Oh Deku," Ochako breathes, taking in the sight of the boy before her.
Visiting Izuku in the hospital isn’t a new experience, but he’s truly outdone himself this time. Thick, white plaster encases each of his limbs. Even if he was conscious, Ochako thinks Deku would struggle to move the heavy weights. That's probably the reason for the pulley system keeping each appendage suspended off the mattress. Either that, or the medical staff doesn’t want to put any more stress on his shattered bones.
Ochako's stomach, already sensitive from a full day of using her Quirk, rolls. Why does it always end like this? Too much first-hand experience with Deku's injuries means she doesn't have to imagine the damage hiding underneath the plaster. Flashbacks of blackened flesh and the unstructured movement of boneless arms parade through her head like a horrifying slideshow.
It's the USJ all over again. It's the summer training camp. UA's entrance exam. Their first Hero training—Stain.
Why does it always end up like this?
No matter what choice she makes. No matter how she tries to help him, somehow Ochako always ends up...here. Standing in front of Deku's hospital bed.
She's tried to support him.
She's tried to save him.
She's tried to stand beside him.
She's tried to hold him back.
She's tried to trust him.
But still…? Still this. Still standing in this acoustic tile room that smells like dead flowers and antiseptics. Still listening to the insistent electronic beeping and counting breaths. Still absolutely powerless to keep him safe.
The worst part is Ochako can't even be mad at him. She understands why he did it. Her first proud moment as a hero wasn't the result of a conscious decision. Seeing Deku writhe in pain during their match with 1-B—Ochaku just moved. Pure instinct drove her forward to protect him from hurting himself. Long before she had any plan on how to make that reality, Ochako was airborne.
And, yeah. Maybe it was reckless. Those charged black whips were a completely new phenomena at that point—a variable that could have panned out badly for both of them. But Ochako looks back at that memory and smiles because—that's it. That's what it feels like to have no regrets. To know that she may have put herself in harm's way, but her actions made a difference for someone else.
And Deku has made a difference.
It's easy to miss from the outside. In the aftermath, in the hospital, most people see an injured first year and shake their head. Rash, they think. Careless. Another young boy drowning in the deep end.
Maybe there's a kernel of truth in that. Maybe Deku has taken on more than he can handle. If that's true, though, it's only because he could see others buckling under the strain. Because Deku looked at a situation with that brilliant, tactical mind of his and thought, I might not win, but I can help.
How can Ochako not find that inspiring?
Heroes step up when there's a need, they've been taught. Well, it turns out that sweet, stammering Deku has a spine of steel to go with that heart of gold. Armed with an unyielding moral compass and double-edged Quirk, he's proven more than ready to rise to every challenge thrown this way. It’s amazing. He’s amazing. And as scary as it can be to watch Deku shatter against his upper limits, watching him chase his dream of becoming the Number One Hero has pushed motivated Ochako into her own Plus Ultramoment more than once.
But, even still…
...Ochako just wishes Deku didn't see himself as such an acceptable sacrifice. He matters. It matters that Deku is destroying his body for them. It matters that he's laying here in this damn full-body cast.
Tears escape onto her checks. Ochako lets them fall unhindered. Deku, of all people, would understand the need to cry right now. Her chest is full, tight, with a mess of contradicting emotions. She's proud of him. She's furious with him.
She's terrified.
If this isn't the first time, then logic says it won't be the last, either. There will come another night that Ochako stands at the foot of his bed and wonders how many more times can his body take this abuse?
How many more times will Deku get back up?
A soft knock sounds on the door before it creaks open slowly. Ochako hiccups in surprise. Drawing the back of her hand across her nose, she hastily tries to piece herself back together for whoever has just walked in.
"Young Uraraka?" A large, warm hand lands on her shoulder. All Might. "The hospital staff just informed me that visiting hours are over. You should go get some rest."
"R-right!" Ochako’s voice sounds thick even to her, so she tries again. "I'll go—I'll go do that, then."
Moving slowly to give her stiff muscles a chance to wake up, Ochako makes her way to the door. Once there, she can’t resist pausing to look back at Deku one more time. The slow rise and fall of his chest is the only solace she can take from his broken and bruised form. Ochako’s hand tightens on the doorframe, lips drawing into a thin line. She hates this.
“Young Uraraka.”
Ochako’s gaze snaps from her friend to the emaciated man standing next to him. Electric blue eyes burn intensely from within their sunken depths. She instinctively draws herself up taller under his gaze.
“Young Midoriya will get back up,” he promises in a voice that rings with the power and conviction of the former Number One Hero. “I have full confidence he'll come out the other side of this experience as well."
As well. Because this is far from the first time Deku has been bed-bound in a hospital. The thought leaves a bitter taste on her tongue, but Ochako manages a wane smile around it anyway. The amount of confidence All Might has in Deku is heartening. It takes a special kind of person—a special kind of hero—to catch the eye of the former Symbol of Peace. Does Deku know how much faith his idol has in him?
It feels necessary to answer a declaration like that with one of her own. She nods sharply at her teacher and lets the hard-edge of her determination shine through her eyes.

HC || Fandoms they were in
This is pretty much just a crack drabble since I am currently attempting to catch up to all of the requests! Thank you for being Patient with me!
Dabi
This gremlin knows what Homestuck is and can’t stand the fact that he understands the references Toga makes to it. Also possibly one of the few who has actually read homestuck on this list, and won’t hesitate to correct Toga or Shigaraki if they fuck up a fact.
He also really is into The Walking Dead. You can’t tell me that Kurogiri doesn’t have a TV set up somewhere in the bar so he and Shigaraki can sit and watch. This does end up with the majority of the league having a once a week get together where Jin gets Pizza, Toga gets several boxes of soda for them, and Shigaraki sets up everything.
Denki Kaminari
This bitch was into homestuck. Like he wasn’t just into homestuck, he was INTO homestuck. Most likely one of those kids that used to jump on Omegle in a shitty cosplay for those homestuck Omegle cosplay meets the fandom used to do. He also totally has a genderbent Nepeta cosplay, a Dave strider cosplay, and a Jake cosplay SOMEWHERE. Most likely to accidentally wear a homestuck shirt to class.
Never once picked up a Harry Potter book or watched the movie, but you know this kid has a hufflepuff robe in his closet and some hufflepuff merch. He doesn’t know shit about the actual canon since he is just there to vibe
Really into Kpop. BTS, Blackpink, ITZY, EXO, Ikon, BlockB, BigBang minus Seungri cause he is icky, SuperJunior, NCT, WINNER, Got7, Red Velvet, (F)x, and more. Like you can’t tell me this guy doesn’t listen to girl groups and shit like BTS. (His bias has to be J-hope) He also bops with Mina the most. These two also most likely post dance covers of the songs to instagram and TikTok, so they have quite the following. (But their best video was their “Boy In love” cover they did with Kirishima, Deku, Shoto,Jirou, Momo, and Bakugo.)
This kid was also into Five nights at Freddy. He owns all of the games and will still play them with the Bakusquad, but he is pretty quiet about this fandom just because of how BULLIED he was for enjoying it.
LOVES Danganronpa too. Bakusquad do a weekly game night and they all went through all of the games. Let’s just say Denki cried a LOT at the deaths. Like a lot. (He may have a few cosplays of his own too)
Eijiro Kirishima
Kirishima liked Supernatural just because of how manly Sam and Dean are. Like fuck yeah, he wants a chevy impala too cause it is a beautiful car and wants to know how to protect yourself from shit like demons and angels. He never did much besides watch the show, cry a lot, and try to draw the characters. (Also he had a crush on Dean just cause of how badass and manly he is, but nobody can blame him)
He totally sat and watched Denki play Undertale, so he knows all about it. His favorite character is Undyne and he actually cried when they beat her in Genocide mode cause holy shit dude. That sucked. Oh and Sans. Fuck Sans.
He enjoys Kpop and will listen to it with the Bakusquad. He really admires BTS for how much of an impact they have made not only on his friends, but also the world itself and you can’t tell me that this guy doesn’t think the world of Kim Namjoon. Like he listens to Mono on repeat and is such a big RM fanboy. Also really likes Bigbang (He thinks Daesungs voice is so nice and will sleep to his singing if he could), and Kyungsoo is his favorite in Exo. Cried when Bigbang started coming back from the Military, and cried harder when Kyungsoo had to leave.
Danganronpa is a game he really enjoyed with his friends and will even replay from time to time. He gravitates towards the really manly characters, but some others have spots in his heart. Mondo, Sakura, Gundham, Nekomaru, Kaito, and Gonta were his favorites. Let’s just say the game didn’t treat him well.
Fumikage Tokoyami
He ended up picking up the Harry Potter books and fell in love with the world itself. You can’t tell me this guy doesn't have a limited edition trunk set of the books hidden in plain sight. Like everyone thinks that the trunk holds something like crystals or some bones or knives but nah. It’s just his Harry potter books. Oh and Midnight totally gave him a Ravenclaw scarf around the holidays. You can’t tell me otherwise.
Death note? Death note. Only to episode 25 though. 25 happened and he just hasn’t continued watching cause it isn’t the fucking same.
Hitoshi Shinsou
Shinsou liked Supernatural for a while, but he eventually lost interest. He did his best to also never get involved with much of the fandom since it honestly scared him a bit, but his fear didn’t stop him from posting some theories into discussion boards.
He listens to Kpop a bit since he hangs out with Denki a lot and found out he really enjoys Ikon, BlockB, BTS,
Bitch was in the Creepypasta Fandom. Like not even the good ones, he was into Jeff the killer and Eyeless jack and all of those ones. Sure, he would listen to the others and read the crappy ones, but he had a phase he is mildly ashamed of now.
This kid loves everything relating to Stephen King. He will have conversations with Aizawa and Hizashi about the books, and they all agree that Kings writing can rather be extremely amazing, or be the equivalent of a 13 year old attempting to write smut for the first time. It’s so damn funny to him
Hizashi Yamada
He has read all of the harry potter books and actually enjoys them quite a bit, but he tries not to let that show too much. He does have a Slytherin lanyard that holds his keys though that Denki had mentioned. It managed to get Mic off track for the class period when he started discussing the books with the students (Mainly Izuku, Tokoyami, and Denki)
He watches The walking dead with Aizawa
Actually bops to Kpop after the Bakusquad introduces it to him. Massive RM fanboy so he and Kirishima will occasionally go off about how admirable and badass he is. Like RM taught himself english just from watching Friends??? And Hizashi admires that so much. He also loves diving deeper into their lyrics since they normally have such good meanings.
Izuku Midoriya
Oh he loves Harry potter so damn much. He has the books on his shelf, a Gryffindor robe in his closet, a full uniform, and several wands. He is such a nerd so you can’t tell me he doesn’t have a special notebook that has notes on the spells, character analysis, and a variety of different facts.
Really enjoys listening to BTS! He doesn’t know much about other kpop groups, but he really enjoys dancing with Mina and Denki (even if Izuku has 2 left feet and struggles with dancing)
Had a Dragonball phase. Like this kid loVEs Dragonball. It’s actually one of the reasons why he and Katsuki grew to be friends since they both watched the show. They would talk about how they would beat Frieza or the Ginyu squad all of the time.
Katsuki Bakugo
This bastard finds himself actually enjoying Kpop after Mina and Denki go off about their favorite bands, and he really finds himself enjoying BTS, Day6, and SHINee.
Danganronpa was a game he experienced with his friends and FUCK was it an adventure for him. He got really invested with the story and for a while, the Bakusquad chat was active as hell because of all of the theories he had. He fucking HATED Byakuya, actually shed some tears for Fuyuhikos’ character development and Gundhams death, and was about to throw hands during the 4th chapter of V3. It was a Rollercoaster of emotions, but he loved every moment of it.
This kid had a Dragonball Z phase. No shit he would wake up, watch an episode of Goku screaming, and then go out to play. Honestly this routine started when he was 5 and he will still occasionally watch it. He still loves Dragonball, and he totally has a collection of dragonballs somewhere.
After Shoto and Momo watch Rupauls Drag race in the Common room, He gets hooked. His dad is a fashion designer, so he finds himself really enjoying the fashion aspect of the show as well as the makeup part of it all. He actually does Minas’ makeup occasionally and once people start finding out, he becomes their makeup artist. The girls makeup, and occasionally he will do drag makeup on the guys if they ask. Sometimes the Drag viewing parties start by Bakugo doing everyones makeup and then ordering Pizza.
Mina Ashido
Mina fucking loves to dance and everybody knows that, so it’s no surprise that she manages to nail every damn Kpop she does. She really loves the variety of dances and she can match every vibe. A dance in heels? Shes got it. Hip hop? Oh hell yeah. Cute? Sure! Badass? Shes got this. She is really just a bop.
Danganronpa was an EXPERIENCE for her. She absolutely adored the cases that needed to be solved, cried at the characters, and adored the game. She totally cosplayed Tsumugi with Cospox once or twice with Denki just for giggles sake.
Totally was heads over heels for Ouran Highschool Host club. She thought the anime was so damn precious (She adores Hikaru) and was so sad that there hasn’t been a 2nd season, so she bought all of the manga.
Momo Yaoyorozu
She is a Kpop fan! She totally could be an idol since she can sing pretty well, has the face for it, can dance pretty well! Her favorite thing is rapping though. You can’t say that Momo wouldn’t be able to write some bad bitch raps and pull them off with ease. With her, Mina, Jirou, and Ochaco, they make one HELL of a Girl Group. They love to do covers of Blackpink, Red Velvet, CherryBullet, ITZY, and Mamamoo covers. Her biases have to be Jennie, Irene and Moonbyul.
Tamaki Amajiki
Flipped through homestuck when it started, really never got into it but admired the work people put into their cosplays. Knows basic character names and that buckets should be feared.
He actually used to really like My little Pony! He would NEVER call himself a brony, but he really enjoyed the show. He only watched a couple of seasons, but the show itself was pretty relaxing and managed to calm him down when he was feeling anxious. If anybody ever knew he had a my little pony phase though (And still actually will watch it from time to time) he might just die from embarrassment.
Want to play Legend of Zelda? Well Tamaki is your guy to talk to about it. He might start rambling and will completely forget about his anxiety for a moment before realizing how nerdy he sounds. He has a gamecube in his dorm to play Twilight princess and Ocarina of time, He has a Wii for Skyward sword, and god did this kid lock himself in his room when breath of the wild came out. He can speedrun it like none other (Seriously, if he let’s you watch him, you will be fucking surprised by how amazing he is.)
Gotta throw in Teen Titans. Seeing Beast boy use his power in so many badass ways gave him some pretty cool ideas for his own quirk.
Oh and Rupauls Drag race. Nobody would expect him to be a fan of drag race, but he actually does enjoy watching the goofy drama. If you’re dating, you better expect weekly Drag race with him. It’s pretty funny to watch him enjoy the show. Sometimes he gasps, laughs or bites his lip, eyes hooked to the screen.
Shoto Todoroki
Another motherfucker who could EASILY be an Idol if he wanted to be. He actually really enjoys Kpop after Momo introduced it to him. They both often bop to it together when they study or hang out. He is also most likely to be the one recording the dancing videos or editing them too since he really enjoys helping out the girls.
Want to watch him nerd out? Watch the classic Godzilla movies with him. Like HOLY SHIT does this man love the 50s-70s Godzilla movies. Bring him a box set and he will rather hug you really tight or run to grab blankets from his room cause this dude ADORES these movies. (Especially the mothra one. Like he will cling to you, thank you over and over again, and watch them with almost childlike glee.)
This bitch bops with Rupauls Drag race. He really enjoys makeup and has debated on trying drag himself (Not that anybody would know that) but it’s kind of shocking to see that he is the one that started the Weekly Rupauls Drag Race viewing in the UA Dorms.
Yugi Aoyama
His mother used to read Harry Potter to him to help him sleep when he was a child so he naturally knows a lot about it. He knows he is a Slytherin and when Izuku thought about it, it made sense. He is pretty arrogant and wants to impress with his upbringing and french lineage. He also makes it pretty hard to get to know him personally, so Izuku makes a note that he is a Slytherin.
Likes Kpop, but isn’t SUPER into it like Denki or Mina. He likes listening to BTS and Exo and his Biases are Seokjin and Chanyeol.

hello there! could i get a kin analysis for bnha, please? - i am a sagittarius sun, capricorn moon, scorpio rising, and an intp 5w6
- i enjoy listening to music, drawing, watching movies, reading and writing.
- as i said before, i like writing and just making stories in general. i get a lot of inspiration from music and i usually base a lot of my stories around songs :] (i mainly listen to indie/alternative stuff and kpop)
- i'm 100% an introvert (large social gatherings overwhelm me a lot,,) but a lot of my friends, and people i meet see me as an extrovert, and they get really surprised when i say i'm not, haha. i just tend to be really loud and expressive when i'm around ppl i'm comfy with!! and also maybe its just because - i hang around extroverts often and i like to match their energy shxhnfnfnfj.
- i'm a very insecure person, which again, surprises a lot of ppl because sometimes i come off as super confident (and even sometimes arrogant apparently?) but JSJSJDDJ no i'm not! i just say stuff like "haha i'm the best at everything!!! i am perfect!!!!" as a joke to mask those insecurities </3 i tend to be a perfectionist and i get frustrated easily when i don't meet my own standards ^^"
- i hate group projects, completely despise them. i don't hate the people!!!! i just hate the pressure..
- i like making new friends, but i don't like socializing. not sure if that makes sense tbh
- i like listening to people, and i let my friends vent/rant to me when they need it. i wouldn't say i'm a "therapist friend" or anything tho,, because i suck at comforting people ^^" but i try!!
- i try to be a neutral and open minded person most of the time. if theres any sort of conflict or drama going on, i want to make sure i hear all sides of the story before i make any assumptions. i don't like choosing sides either!!!
- i tend to idolize people a lot, esp celebrities or ppl who are older and more succesful than me. (which usually leads to me being very disappointed when i find out they're actually not very good ppl ://)
- i've asked my friends to describe me and most of their responses are;; funny, weird, annoying (in an endearing way, i hope), and loud :0
i apologize if this is a bit too long!! but thank you in advance!!
You Probably Kin: Izuku Midoriya
In my opinion, you’re much like Izuku, from the way you tend to have someone to look up too, to your creative outlets.
The outlets of writing and listening to music, as well as reading are all activities that are most commonly done alone by oneself. I find this reminiscent to the way Izuku writes in his notebook when he’s nervous, both of your outlets being writing, and emotion based.
Another mirroring factor I’ve found is your habit of idolising people, whether it be short term or long run. This is mirrored by the way Izuku idolises All Might all his life, eventually being somewhat surprised when he doesn’t meet his vision of what a hero should look like.
You being an open minded person, as well as an introvert is also related to Izuku, in the way he’s shy around people and willing to accept anybody, despite what they’ve down, see how he wants to save even the villains. You both belive there are two sides to every story.
Another aspect the both of you share is your need to be perfect. Much like Izuku trains and pushes himself to the brink in the name of living up to All Might’s expectations, you also share this need to do well, except for you, the coping mechanism is baseless confidence. It’s the same concepts, just different methods of dealing with it.

Izuku seeks relationship advice from his idol and mentor
Also available on my ao3 account: dolphins
Finally the school bell rang, signalling the end of a long, tiresome but fulfilling day. Afternoon sun began to filter through the slots in the blinds, making the little spots of dust glow like fireflies in the air. Toshinori began to gather up his textbooks and papers to grade, shoving them haphazardly into his satchel. Naomasa had told him he would to invest in a bigger bag- perhaps one that was more secure than this ragged, old thing, but he hadn't gotten round to heading to the shops yet.
Stomach beginning to ache slightly, he knew it wouldn't be long until he would need a second dose of his medication and a small meal to reduce the impending nausea. It was good he could even last this long, slinking back into his true form not long after three-thirty. Screams echoed, muffled from outside as the zoo of kids made their hurried way home. Or to the dorms. Whichever their choice. Now was the perfect time to catch up on lesson planning and have a cup of tea. Well, if what Toshinori scribbled out could be perceived as a lesson plan. It was more just a vague outline. Proper planning would take time, or so Nezu kept telling him.
Floors began to be polished, the soft whirring settling him as he opened up his diary. A knock. Gently, as though barely there on his door. At this time, who on Earth could be there? Aizawa would more than likely be at home to nap before his nightly patrol, Hizashi had his radio show and Midnight rarely stayed past the end of the bell herself.
"Come in?" Toshinori called, eyebrows raising to meet Midoriya creeping into his class like a mouse.
It was not the first time this had happened. The boy had been circling him like a timid vulture all week, fleeing right before he took hold of his pray. Questions formed in his mouth but the words refused to come up, blushing and stuttering, changing whatever subject had yet to be discussed. It was quite sweet, if Toshinori said so himself. Of course, he wouldn't draw attention to the matter as if Midoriya had something he wished to discuss, it was better to wait until he was ready. Not to say he wasn't curious.
"Young Midoriya!" He grinned, bouncing up off the chair and greeting the boy with genuine enthusiasm. Shy grins, eyes averted and darting anywhere but at him, Toshinori supposed he was attempting to grasp courage that was trapped between wedges of anxiety. "I am glad to see you. Sorry I missed lunch today, Aizawa and I discussed an upcoming class trip and it required my input as well."
"No, no, it's okay," Midoriya rubbed at his neck, flustered. Their shared lunches were unofficially official. A bento, wonderfully prepared by Inko, with a little extra for Toshinori, shared between them with stories of their day. Iida and Ochako sprawled on the grass beside them, eventually getting over the overwhelming star-struck feeling of being so close to their idol.
"Now, why are you staying behind so late? Are you behind in your homework, perhaps? I was terrible at languages and mathematics, but I can surely give it a go," Toshinori ruffled his hair, Midoriya shaking his head like a wet dog with a shy grin.
"N-no, All Might, I am not behind in my homework. I just wanted to see if-" A stutter, the first of many as the words lodged in his throat and made his face embarrassingly red. It shouldn't be so hard to talk, not when they had shared manys of meaningful conversations. "If-"
Nodding, Toshinori bit his tongue, softening his facial expression and hoping his body language radiated welcoming and non-judgemental vibes. Watching the boy struggle, drowning with unspoken words pained him a little, so much like Toshinori himself at times that it made a tender bit of his heart hurt. Very much like his first couple of months starting at U-A. It seemed like everything he said was just wrong. Especially when Aizawa would give a stare that was just confirmation of the fact that he didn't really know what we was doing.
"I would like to speak to you about something," Midoriya spluttered, word-vomitting all over the place, finally coming up for air and looking at his mentor uneasily.
Unusual. They already werespeaking. "Of course, my boy. I can prepare us some tea and we can speak about whatever you like." Toshinori led him to the staff lounge, knowing it was likely to be quiet until five in the evening as teachers took to grading papers and preparing work in their own classrooms. Sugar, two for Midoriya. It was likely he would enjoy it, after all Toshinori had witnessed him practically inhale an ice cream sundae after school more than once before. Placing the steaming cups on the small table in front, he sat down with creaky limbs and waited for the boy to speak.
It was like he was tripping up and stumbling over his words in his head, swapping them around and then abandoning them all together. Perhaps looking for a way out of this after all. Maybe he would need a little prompting. Toshinori placed his long hands in his lap and carefully began, "Is there something on your mind? Would you like to discuss your training? Is there anything you are not happy about?"
Heat flushed Midoriya's face brutally, his green hair flapping about as he shook his head. "N-no, my training is going just fine. I-" his lip quivered and he sank his teeth in to stall it. "I'm happy with the way I have been progressing so far." Fidgeting in his seat, he scratched at the worn cuticles of his nails, eyes pointed firmly down and sucked in a huge breath. "I-It is something a bit more... personal."
Oh. Toshinori's head began to swim with distant thoughts. What constituted as personal to a sixteen year old boy? Probably everything if Toshinori remembered correctly. An awkward age where everything is embarrassing and strange. Nana used to tease him relentlessly, enjoying the way he squirmed. Fondness flooded him. Midoriya was lucky in that sense, his mentor had much more tact.
Speak, his mind yelled, as he realised he had zoned out and Midoriya was in the middle of death by blushing. "Yes, please go ahead my boy. If you want to know the ins and outs of anything I will answer your questions." To the best of his ability of course.
Taking his tea with shaking hands, Midoriya wanted the ground to swallow him whole. "I... I like somebody." Air expelled from his lungs like a punctured air balloon. The words were out. Floating among them as free entities, away and out of his head at last.
Frozen, Toshinori blinked. Wasn't this a conversation he should be having with his mother? The thought registered a moment later and he imagined Midoriya bringing up potential dating to his mother and got second-hand embarrassment. His father? Now that he thought about it, the boy's father had never been mentioned in any passing comments- and this was coming from a boy who told All Might every one of his nightmares, what he had for lunch, what the new craze was going around school. Oh. It hit him with a fuzzy kind of feeling. He was the person Midoriya felt he could confide in about this matter. Swarming pride and happiness filled him.
"That's brilliant, my boy! It is good you are having these feelings. Do I know the lucky lady?" Toshinori grinned widely, placing a big hand on his shoulder and gripping it proudly. To his surprise, the boy shrunk in on himself, trembles beginning to shake his body. By now his face was a dark crimson. Quickly covering his face, Toshinori felt a lump in his throat as he heard the tell-tale signs of Midoriya covering up his crying. Choked back sobs, little coughs and eventually drops that fell to his lap in little puddles.
"Oh God. My boy, whatever is the matter?" Toshinori leaned a bit closer, tone sorrowful and moved the hand on one shoulder to the other, bringing the sobbing boy a little closer. "There is nothing wrong with having feelings for someone. It is nothing to feel bad about."
This however, made the crying worse. Sobs spluttered into scarred hands, snot and tears- the works. Toshinori fumbled. How had he got this so badly wrong? Midoriya tried to cover his face, stop the floodgates that were already wide open. Words tumbled from his mouth that Toshinori just about heard.
"It's not a girl."
It hit him like a ten tonne of bricks to the back of the head, both shocking him and not at the same time. Of course. How had he been so dense? Looking back, it should have been so clear. Midoriya went to leave, stumbling over his lanky, growing limbs and Toshinori pulled him back with a gentle tug on his wrist.
"You silly, silly boy. I knew you spouted a lot of nonsense, but crying over something like this?" Toshinori teased lightly, rubbing at his back while still keeping a soft hand around his wrist incase the boy tried to bolt. "You crybaby," he leaned forward and used his sleeve to wipe away the tears and snot on Midoriya's face. He could change the jumper later. "Having feelings for someone is a wonderous experience. It is nothing to cry about, my boy."
Midoriya gritted his teeth, face burning. "Did you not hear me? I told you it was a boy."
Toshinori let out a loud chuckle, very similar to his trademarked All Might laugh but much more genuine, with soft crinkles around his eyes. "I'm old but my hearing is just fine, young Izuku." Deciding that making jokes wasn't the best way to go about this, he pulled Midoriya's hands away from his face and forced the boy to look at him.
"There is absolutely nothing wrong with having feelings for anyone. What you are experiencing is perfectly normal. I'm very proud that you felt like you could talk to me about this, my boy." Toshinori held the back of his neck in a protective hold, staring him dead in the eyes even though there may have been tears developing in his too. Not that he was going to show that. No chance. It was feeling more and more like a conversation that should have been happening between father and son, but the more Toshinori prodded the strange, growing butterfly within his stomach, he realised that to him... it was.
Midoriya gaped up at him, mouth opening and closing with unspoken words. Eventually he pushed them out. "Have you ever felt this way?"
Grinning, Toshinori tapped a finger to his lip. "Once or twice. A good friend of mine from the past. I felt very safe when I was around him. Very safe in a very dangerous world. It was rather unusual." The gaping expression on Midoriya's face only widening as he tried to piece the words together and realise that his favourite hero, idol and mentor was not quite as straight as he had assumed.
"I didn't know." Midoriya said dumbly.
"Of course you didn't." Toshinori let out a loud chuckle, "I didn't tell the public. I prefer to keep romance out of the media, otherwise I will be just another piece of fodder for the tabloids." Placing a firm hand on his back, Toshinori gave him a wide grin. "But that doesn't mean you have to hide who you are."
"Has there been anyone since?" Midoriya prodded, tentative and still sniffling but Toshinori was just glad the tears had let up. Even if the questions were adding a little pink cast to his face. An image was in his mind. It would be highly inappropriate to divulge such information to his student, considering, but he had to admit there was a spark of something there.
Aizawa. A tender balance of respect and being kept on your toes. He appreciated not being fawned over, being held accountable and being pushed to strive for better- something he hadn't felt in a decade or two. There was little sexual to it. Toshinori rarely felt such instincts, as was his nature, but the thought of being close to and listening to the man speak. His skin prickled.
"Yes," Toshinori smiled, tint of sadness there. "But, enough about me. Tell me about this person you like."
Blushing almost on cue, Midoriya spluttered on his tea. Teenagers, Toshinori thought with a sigh. Always so hidden and withdrawn with their emotions. Although, his mind told him, you haven't exactly confessed to Aizawa now, have you?
"It is young Iida, isn't it? A wise young man with his head screwed on. A wonderful companion to keep you on the right side of trouble!" Toshinori chuckled loudly to Midoriya's horror. Shaking his head like a helicopter, it was surprising it didn't take flight and fly away.
"No! Of course not! He's my friend!" Midoriya hissed, flushing and causing his mentor to chuckle.
"Kirishima then, yes? A strong boy with an even stronger spirit." Toshinori quizzed, immediately getting his answer when Midoriya erupted into a rush of no's, and looking like he wanted to teleport to another location. Pretty much anywhere but here.
Toshinori scratched his head. "It's not Bakugo, is it?" Unable to come up with any other potential crushes, he thought rapidly to whatever boys he had seen Midoriya interact with in the past.
"Kacchan?" Midoriya looks puzzled for a moment, as though he hadn't considered the thought before. Moments later, his face darkening as he insisted. "No." Toshinori was perplexed, racking up his brain for any semblance of ideas for who it could be. Not that it really mattered, but he was a curious soul after all.
But then, it all lined up so neatly that he could have kicked himself for not realising something so obvious. He should have seen this before Midoriya even told him he had a crush on someone. It was so clear, like shining, transparent glass, that it was the one person who Midoriya had leeched onto, besides himself of course. Shoto Todoroki. A puzzle, one which he suspected Midoriya had already started to uncover. On the outside, he could see the Todoroki boy quite obviously changed his techniques and disposition after the fight with Midoriya, but looking back, he could see how this had affected the boy also. A strong ally by his side at all times. Who ever had Izuku Midoriya by their side was sure to strive.
"Ah yes, Shoto Todoroki." The name made Midoriya's face do all kinds of things. A ripple of emotions running through them, so expressive but much too fast to catch. It was so obvious. Staring them right in the face like a bright neon sign.
Realising that the boy wasn't going to offer up any words on his own accord. Toshinori began, "I'm glad. A quiet boy, but I imagine he will be loyal and a good influence on you, despite his rather... unorthodox family." To put it mildly.
"D-do you think his parents would disapprove?" Midoriya winced at words, visibly shook by Toshinori's heart laugh. One that came right from the belly and up to his throat.
"I don't believe Shoto Todoroki would be the sort to worry about such things," he explained, the worry disappitating a little on the boy's face, "In fact... it may be bold to say, but I imagine if his father disapproved, it would just be the icing on the cake."
At last the stony seriousness of Midoriya's face cracked with a half smile and it only widened when his mentor elbowed him in the ribs and leaned in mischievously, "Now, speaking of sweet things... how about we go and grab some ice cream before you head back?" It warmed his heart to see his face light up and Toshinori abandoned his plans to actually be productive.
Nerves began to creep back into the boy as he made no movement to stand up, scratching at his cuticles and studying them intently. He twitched, as though holding back and pushing himself in waves. "Young Midoriya?" Toshinori prodded lightly, suddenly stunned as a pair of arms were thrown around his slender waist and squeezed tightly. Face burning, the boy was hugging him. How adorable, Toshinori felt love spike in his chest and he hugged him back, pressing a kiss onto the top of his curly mop.
"Thank you for confiding in me, my boy. You can tell me anything," he tapped Midoriya's nose teasingly. "-And your mother, don't forget." Midoriya nodded seriously and Toshinori grabbed his satchel. "Come on, maybe I can stretch to burgers as well."
The next day, Toshinori was unintentionally being as conspicuous as possible, watching behind a large oak tree, sipping his coffee and studying the private conversation between Midoriya and his crush. Todoroki was as solemn as ever, nodding slightly at times and ignoring the way Midoriya was practically imploding with bottled-up anxiety, frothing up at the sides in the form of an endless blush and stuttering words. Of course, it had never been his intention to intrude on such a personal interaction, and the guilt was all on him, but someone would have to be there incase the Todoroki boy broke his heart. He wasn't being... protective. It was just a precaution.
The kids on the playground eyed the creepy, skinny guy peering in between leaves with curiosity.
Toshinori had the life ripped out of him when a silent figure slinked up beside him and startled him into an eruption of coughs. Blood leaked between his fingers and he swung round to meet Aizawa who had a flicker of amusement in his dark eyes. A travel cup dotted in cartoon cats perched between his hands.
"Aizawa-san," he wiped his mouth on a handkerchief and caught his breath, "You always catch me off guard."
"I'm testing your reflexes." he replied deadpan, without a beat. "You're slacking from retirement."
"Oh, go easy on me," Toshinori let out a laugh.
Aizawa rolled his eyes, sipping on his drink. "Care to tell me why you are lurking in trees? Is UA so easy for you that you have nothing better to do?" he snipped, "If you are running out of work to do, I can assure you I can find something to occupy you."
Sweat began to blossom on his forehead at the intimidating man before him. God, he felt more like one of the students getting scolded rather than a fellow teacher. His hands trembled slightly and despite the height difference, he felt tiny. "No, no, I have plenty to do as always. I-I just have a matter of urgency to attend to."
"A matter that involves skulking around in trees, yes?" Aizawa had his hand on his hip.
Oh. He wasn't getting off the hook that easily. Sighing, he caved like a soft boiled egg being poked in the yolk. "I'm worried about young Midoriya. I can't divulge too much... but he is having a rather difficult conversation a-and I'd like to make sure it goes okay."
Aizawa's face did something, quirked slightly before whatever he was thinking was shut out. "Fine. But our students can handle their own problems, as worried as you are- standing over here and fretting isn't going to help anything. Stop being such a mother hen."
Holding his hands up in defeat, everything that Aizawa was saying was entirely true and he knew it. But as he began to follow behind, he shot back a last glance and noticed the conversation had ended between his students and the boy was hurdling towards him at a rapid pace. Once Todoroki was firmly out of sight, of course. His hiding place wasn't very good then, he supposed. "All Might-sensei!" He shouted, throwing himself at his mentor with a grin despite the fact that Aizawa was standing just a few feet away.
"I take it everything went alright then?" Toshinori pried. Midoriya put two thumbs up and his face said it all. Shoto Todoroki had blushed and was quiet for more than a few minutes, enough time for Midoriya to gather up all of the reasons why this had been a terrible, terrible idea, but then he had smiled, soft and his eyes creased at the corners. Stars aligned just perfectly and he had admitted he felt the same. Ever since the sports festival, it was the first time he had felt such emotions come in a rush and they had agreed to hang out after school.
"I'm so proud of you, my boy. I knew you could do it!" Sun shone down on All Might casting a halo of light before him. A sneaky grin began to creep onto Midoriya face, a snake crawling out of the wreckage.
"I think you should take your own advice, All Might-sensei," he muttered, before running off towards his next class, hair flapping about in the wind.
Looking at him go with a fond smile, then back at Aizawa staring at him with a stern expression, butterflies fluttering. He supposed it might be worth a shot.

Coming Down (Prologue)
Warnings: attempted suicide, suicidal thoughts, suicide baiting.
Summary: Izuku Midoriya takes his childhood best friend's advice and jumps off of the roof of his middle school, but the world isn't finished with him.
Word Count: 3.2k
here it is on ao3!
The air nearly knocked Midoriya off balance, pushing and pulling at his petite frame from where he stood. He looked down at the ground, where his composition book laid in the fountain, covered in soot. The edges were burnt and torn, the dim embers put out once it hit the water. The writing on the front was faded from the treatment, ink seeping into the surrounding areas as the water contaminated the molecular integrity of it. He made no move to retrieve the book, instead standing with his hands at his sides, fists clenching and unclenching slowly.
The echoing footsteps and laughter behind him slowly faded as the blond and his squadron of followers left. The green-haired boy listened to their torturously slow retreat, gaze locked on the wet notebook sitting in the fountain water three stories down. His hand came up to clasp the iron railing on the roof, knuckles white as he leaned closer to the edge and let his eyes find the concrete directly below. Bakugou and the others had cornered him up here after the final bell, following him up the flights of stairs he had taken to give himself privacy.
Earlier that day while he was on his way to school, the most amazing thing he could have imagined happened to him: he’d met his hero. After the man with the blinding white smile had saved him from walking into the street and nearly being run down by a car (the boy had once again fallen into one of his muttering spells and hadn’t even realized he was crossing while the light was still green), he had found it almost impossible to speak at all. How he managed to get an autograph was beyond him, but the evidence was right there, sprawled across a spread of pages that was now soaked in dirty, pigeon infested water.
Once he had finally managed to find his tongue, he’d asked All Might the question that had been itching at the back of his mind for years and years, having manifested the day he was told by a doctor that he was quirkless. He regretted having ever opened his mouth now. He could have gone the rest of his life with an ignorant bliss clouding his mind and chasing a dream that he believed in.
There was no reason to believe now; the Symbol of Hope’s word was final.
The book taunted him now. He wasn’t sure why he had kept carrying it around all day with that thick signature burning a hole through it, but it became clear once he’d pushed the hopeless thought of heroism from his mind. Despite having his dreams crushed in such a devastating way, he met his idol. He got his idol’s signature! Surely Kacchan had to hear about this, the both of them adored All Might when they were younger. Kacchan grew out of it, but Midoriya never quite did.
Kacchan didn’t sound like he cared when Midoriya told him what happened. He called him names - the usual ones, but they still hurt - and told him to fuck off. That was the normal, it had been for the past three years. The green-eyed boy wasn’t sure what made his childhood best friend flip the switch and decide to go from the usual taunting, little-kid rudeness he’d grown up dishing out to the outright bullying that he now threw the smaller boy’s way, but maybe it was for the best after all.
Midoriya was never going to be a hero, he knew that now. Kacchan didn’t need to be held down by a quirkless nobody, not when everyone knew how far he’d go in the hero world.
Maybe it was better for him to push Midoriya away with cruel words and actions. Maybe it was better for Midoriya to take Kacchan’s advice, the gruff words that the blond spoke just moments ago settling deep within his chest, clenching and twisting painfully until the boy grasped at his shirt to alleviate it.
The book was still taunting him down there, looking up at him like the reflection of a mirror. He blinked, finding tears burning at his eyes, but not falling. His body felt tired, slumped over slightly as his brushed out green curls hung over his eyes. The sun was beating down on his back, absorbed by the black fabric of his middle school uniform. A paper came sliding by as the wind picked up all but for a second, Midoriya stopped it with his boot, then bent down to pick it up.
It was a page torn out of his notebook - images of Bakugou tearing a few pages out and casting them aside before tossing the burnt book over the railing flashed through his mind- that was covered in scribbles and scattered thoughts. He stared at the discarded page in his hand for a long time, fingers tracing over the crumples that his friend had put into it. For what seemed like an eternity, he stood there and stared at the paper. Then, he shrugged his backpack off and dropped it to the ground, sitting down beside it. He fished a pencil from the bag and quickly erased the scribbles and drawings, flattening the page out against the warm concrete.
Turning the pencil around in his hand, he began writing in his neatest style, wanting his words to come across clear enough to read. His hand was shaking and he pressed down harder against the paper to correct the movement, mumbling the word ‘weak’ to himself over and over. He wrote to his mom first, letting his words stretch to the very end of the page before signing it and adding a heart. He then turned the page over and let his trembling hand hover over the blank canvas, watching a warm, wet tear slide down his cheek and land on the expanse. He sniffled, blinking his eyes a few times to let the tears fall where they may, then wiped at his raw cheeks with the back of his hand, carefully scribbling out ‘Kacchan’ at the top of the other side. Time passed and the only noises he could hear were the rustling of the tree leaves as the wind antagonized them and the quick scribbling of lead on paper. He signed the back of the page once it was also full and carefully tucked the paper beneath the weight of his backpack, leaving it on the floor as he stood on shaking legs.
He looked at the iron railing again, stepping forward and running his finger along the chipping paint. Pink lips parted to release a long breath, green hair whipping around in the wind. His eyes still stung, but no more tears were falling, surprisingly. Kacchan, and everyone really, always called him a crybaby for showing such a weak emotion at the slightest inconvenience.
“Am I brave now?” he wondered aloud, “I’m not crying anymore.”
The wind was the only one to answer him, a gust once again racking against his small frame and pushing him toward the railing. The muttering set in then as he bit at the side of his thumb.
“ Yeah, keep sucking on your thumb, crybaby, ” he mumbled, voice dropping just slightly to imitate the blond’s gruff one. “How should I go about this? Logic will overrule emotion, so maybe if I face the other way so that I can’t look down…”
His muttering lasted how long he couldn’t tell, but by the time he could move his numb limbs, he was swinging one leg over the railing. He gripped the iron for support, pressing his lower back against it as the toes of his boots just barely dipped over the ledge of the roof. His chest was aching from the small and shallow breaths he was taking, so to put himself at ease, he took one deep breath and slowly turned himself around so that he was facing where he’d left his backpack on the roof.
Tears wanted to fall, but he refused to let them. He stood there, gripping the railing for the longest time and willing himself to loosen his grip. He was snapped out of his trance by someone calling his name. He wondered if he imagined it, the gruff tone and the obvious annoyance in the words calling his name from inside the stairway, not yet in range to be seen or to see him. He had to have imagined it, there was no reason that Bakugou would come back upstairs. He hadn’t forgotten anything, he had said all he needed to say, he had to get home or Aunty Mitsuki would be mad.
Something in Midoriya’s chest clenched painfully. He’s mentioned Mitsuki in his note to Bakugou, asking him to tell her he loved her and was appreciative of all the kindness she showed him through the years before he and her son’s friendship ended. Had it been enough? Should he have written her something entirely as well? And what about Masaru? The soft-spoken man had always entertained Midoriya’s mumbling with a small amused smile, he’d always been like a father to the small, nervous boy. Didn’t he deserve more than just a mention in his note to Bakugou?
His muttering returned and he raised one hand to his mouth, nipping at the skin around his thumbnail. The movement nearly made him lose his balance on the ledge, but he adjusted his other hand to keep himself upright, watching with wide, teary eyes as his friend came into view. The door to the stairway creaked as it was pushed open, its heavy weight slamming it closed as the blond let go of the knob and looked around the roof. Terrified forest-green eyes met crimson as the hard edge slowly left them and was replaced with something like fear.
“Deku?”
Midoriya’s mouth went dry when the silence stretched between them. The staircase was a few feet away and Bakugou seemed to be stuck in place, hands twitching at his sides and chest starting to heave as if his breath was picking up. The moss-haired boy swallowed, dropping his thumb from his mouth and letting a hot tear slide down his freckled cheek, other hand relaxing and releasing its grip on the railing. His mind swam with the same thought over and over: if I back down now, I’ll be weak.
He watched Bakugou lunge into a sprint his way right as he tipped backwards and let his eyes find the blue sky above him.
…
“Don’t you think you went too far this time?”
Bakugou’s already furrowed eyebrows ached as he knitted them together further and shoved at the other boy’s arm, jostling him to the side.
“All I did was blast his stupid book, he’ll cry about it like he always fuckin’ does and then be back on my dick tomorrow morning.”
The other laughed, nodding and imitating Deku’s higher-pitched voice.
“K-K-Ka-acchan! I, uh, I l-like your h-hair!”
“Ah, shut up,” Bakugou snapped, rolling his eyes.
These guys always tried too hard to get him to like them. It was annoying. At least Deku had the decency to know Bakugou hated him.
“Not that, man you…” the boy looked around, then continued in a hushed voice, looking like a scolded puppy.
The timidness reminded him of Deku and he felt a new wave of annoyance rising up in his chest. They burst through the front doors of the school after clearing the staircase. It was less crowded than usual since they’d decided to make time to follow Deku upstairs to his little hideout on the roof and fuck with him.
He wasn’t sure when the - mostly - playful teasing had turned sour on his end. Deku had always been annoying, but once word got around that he was quirkless, kids just started giving him a harder time and the teachers in their lives just never made an effort to earnestly correct the cruel behavior. He was loud and abrasive, and he had one of the coolest quirks growing up in their small community and shitty school district. It was decided early on that he’d be the one to go to UA and represent them, and the idea never bothered him. All the kids were either jealous of him or wanted to be him.
The teachers were always more lenient with him when it came to assignments or disciplinary actions, knowing they’d need to build up their future hero as much as possible. Growing up in an environment where he rarely got told ‘no’ and got praised for his quirk on a daily basis helped frame who the blond now was as a person. He decided early on that he probably couldn’t be friends with the quirkless kid since Deku would always be clinging to him, so he started to slowly but surely push the other away.
He was content with just growing apart, like most childhood friends do eventually, but Deku was stubborn. He always insisted on hanging out with Bakugou and his other friends despite how mean they were to him, shoving and calling him names. It didn’t seem to sink into his thick, curly-haired skull that they didn’t want him around. Still, the smaller boy persisted, and it pissed Bakugou off to no end.
How could Deku deal with the mistreatment and still always come crawling back? Bakugou deduced early into the hazing that there had to be some reason Deku hadn’t fucked off yet; Deku must have had some huge gay crush on him.
The thought alone didn’t necessarily bother him, in fact, it made sense. They’d been friends since preschool so it was only natural that one of them would get curious about their feelings for the other. What puzzled him is why those feelings had remained even after Bakugou had tried so hard to annihilate them with his cruel words. Their first year into middle school was the worst for Deku, because it was the year that the blond had realized why he didn’t want any of the girls in the class talking to him.
The discovery came swiftly, he was raised with exceptional logical skills and there was no doubt in his mind that his parents would react negatively, so he figured it out the first time that his mother forced him to invite the Midoriyas over to swim. He was thirteen and had seen his childhood best friend in those god-awful teal swim trunks for the first time since they both started to fill out their clothes. Deku was still scrawny, but he was slightly taller than he was in grade school and soft green hairs now adorned his legs and armpits.
He’s only realized he’d been gawking at the pale, freckled skin covered in beads of water as he splashed around with his mother when Masaru nudged his arm slightly and whispered to him with a secret smile.
“Don’t let your mother catch you staring at Izuku like that, she’ll set you two up faster than you can blink.”
The Hag was far too involved in his personal life.
The fact that Deku had been the one to awaken that discovery inside of him also pissed him off (many things did) and that was something that he’d later realize field the fire in his throat when he spewed hateful words at the other with his entourage.
The small group passed by one of the teachers who was staying late to grade papers and smiled as she waved at them. The two boys at his sides gawked at her as she passed and Bakugou rolled his eyes, willing away the clips of Deku’s soaked, dark green hair sticking to his forehead until he shook it away. He clenched his teeth.
“You told him to jump off the roof,” the paranoid extra whispered.
“So? He’s a pussy, he won’t do it,” the other supplied, pushing his friend’s shoulder.
Deep red eyes glanced up at the roof where they’d left Deku after tormenting him and he scoffed. He absent-mindedly rubbed at the throbbing sensation behind his ears that had been bothering him for a few weeks now, making a mental note to bother his parents about setting up a doctor’s appointment soon.
“What if he does?” the trembling voice asked again.
Bakugou slowed to a stop, clenching his fists in his pants pockets and staring up at the roof. He couldn’t see anything since they were ground level now, but he was sure that Deku was in fact too scared to do anything of the sort. He knew Deku too well, the other wouldn’t leave behind his mother (the damn mama’s boy) just because of some hazing at school. He held on way too tight to the idea that he’d become a hero one day, he wouldn’t give that dream up.
Then again, the nerd’s eyes held a different emotion to them today. Bakugou often found himself staring into Deku’s eyes whenever they passed each other, it was a way to get the other to cower without even having to say or do anything else. Today when the idiot told him about his All Might signature, something was off. The gaze that usually lit up and held a sparkle at the mere mention of his idol was oddly void-like, blank, and dull. It was cause for concern.
For the sake of Bakugou’s future of course. What other reason could there be to make Bakugou turn on his heels and sigh in annoyance?
“Get outta here, I’m gonna go make sure he doesn’t actually do it.”
“Yeah dude, protect your future. If it gets out that you made a kid-”
“I get it dipshit!” the blond snapped, voice echoing off the columns near them.
The two boys flinched and hurried off as he entered the school once again and ascended the staircase. He reached the door leading to the rooftop in no time and called out the other’s nickname he’d given him before opening the heavy door. The sun blinded him as he stepped out, making him cup a hand over his eyes like a visor and glance around the roof until he caught sight of Deku’s backpack sitting on a piece of paper that’s corner was flapping in the wind. His eyes drifted to the next closest thing and he found his childhood friend grasping the railing with one hand, biting at his thumb.
Wide green eyes met his and the other froze like a deer caught in headlights. Bakugou caught the smallest movements with his analytical eyes, watching the way the muscles and tendons in the boy’s hand relaxed. Why couldn’t he move? His feet felt heavy, heart dropping into his stomach while bile rose in his throat. Once he finally felt the blood return to his body, he lunged forward, one arm outstretched and eyes wide and stinging.
Deku left his line of sight and he nearly tripped over his own feet, catching himself on the railing to avoid smashing his nose against it. The wind quieted down just long enough to let the distant thump find his ears and traumatize him. He froze, knuckles white as his vision blurred in front of him. His face was hot, the air cooling the wetness sliding down his cheeks while he slumped to the floor and trembled. Muffled voices of teachers at the bottom of the building yelled for help.
me for my college exam essay: bully with internalized homophobia who bullies his crush is a harmful trope and romanticizes toxic relationships also me: I'm gonna write this trope once again because it is one of my favorite tropes of all time and bakudeku fits into it perfectly you cannot stop me
In all seriousness, do not date your bullies unless they go through serious redemption and prove themselves to be worth your time (like I'm hoping to do with Bakugou in this). Also, do not harm yourself or attempt suicide, I'm not condoning it with this fic because it's made evident throughout the chapters that Izuku's life was worth living for and he greatly regrets the decision he made. Both characters are flawed in this but both are portrayed in a very healthy way beyond middle school.

Bnha prompt where Easerhead is made to look over the income students files and doesn't like how bakuguo looks. So he goes to see himself and sees how he acts and has proof so in the end even after passing both the paper and qurik exam he is turned down. And bakuguo doesn't know the useless deku is in ua until he sees him win the feastal
Ok I can’t sleep so you get yours early!
Mrs Midoriya was a kind woman that loved her friends fiercely but no amount of friendship was worth seeing her baby boy charred and bloodied. She and Izuku had lost their closest friends but they were both able to grow because of it. Inko filed for divorce and Izuku saw that idled idol worship wasn’t going to get him into hero school without a quirk. They both faced ridicule for ‘forcing’ a mark on an exemplar and honored student. It wasn’t the last mark Katsuki got for harming Izuku while they attended the same middle school.
Every year Aizawa had to wade through stacks and stacks of student entry files. The ones that didn’t pass the written exam or didn’t meet the cut off number of points for consideration had already been tossed so all that was left were those deemed qualified for assessment. Which was all just fancy words for these are the kids he and Ken would be picking their next classes from. This year Principal Nezu had added on an interview to the process, one with the student and their guardian and one with their middle school home room teacher. Aizawa knew it was because he had expelled his whole class last year by the end of the first week so this was Nezu’s way around that problem.
Out of 67 candidates Hero Eraserhead had gone to 43 school rooms and homes. His next stop was Aldera middle school where two hopefuls attended. He was curious about the place that produced both a kid as clever and determined as Midoriya Izuku and a kid as brash and tactically minded as Bakugou Katsuki. He was also curious about the missing pages in both of their files, it could have been a fluke but he wasn’t an optimistic man.
The building was nothing to write home about but Eraserhead knew better than to judge a book by its cover, many had done so to him in the past. He counted his luck that he could finish two interviews with one trip once he set foot into the school. It smelled of mildew and the wooden stairs were warped in places, not a good first impression. The teacher who greeted him at the classroom was a middle aged man with a slight hunch and thin hair. “Welcome Eraserhead sir, we are so honored to have you with us today. We don’t normally have students achieve such feats but it’s no wonder with our promising prodigy Bakugou, we are so proud of him!” Praises the Aldera teacher, as he walks Eraser to a seat at one of the desks.
He notes it as odd the man hadn’t mentioned that they had two students in the running for UA and writes it in the notebook he brought for today’s set of interviews. “Yes Bakugou has shown he has the mind and skill it takes to make it at UA but there is only so much a video and an incomplete file can tell us about a child. So that’s why I’m here today. I would like you to tell me about your students today. Particularly Bakugou AND Midoriya.” He drones only putting emphasis on the fact this was for two students, not just one. The cheerful face the man was wear slips into a exasperated one at the mention of the other student. “Oh so he got into General studies did he, well can’t say I’m surprised. He isn’t much be he has a good melon on his shoulders, could probably get into marketing if he wasn’t so hung up on being a hero, that damn Midoriya.” The teacher ponders aloud like it wasn’t just for show. Keeping a straight face and not just calling the man out on favoritism Eraser pushed forward with the interview.
Drawing out the folder for Bakugou first Eraserhead flips to where behavioral records and notes should have been. “Normally a file will have at least a note or two on student behavior so teachers down the line can help curb bad habits or know how to handle a quirk controll issue. Neither student submission had one which seems like an odd over site. What can you tell me about Bakugou’s history with his quirk and other students?” As he spoke the teacher was growing more and more agitated. “He’s a good student, I don’t know what you’ve heard but he deserves to be a hero! Just because he has a slight temper doesn’t mean he’s a bad kid. That bitch and her son just wanted attention! Slandering a prodigy before he gets a chance to shine? It’s absurd.” Rants the hunched teacher, sounding like a politically backwards uncle. Eraser makes a mental note to stop at the office to get another copy of the files.
“That was informative. Do you have any notes on Midoriya’s behavior?” He asks fearing he already knows the answer. “Like I said before the kid is smart but he is constantly garnering for attention. Probably because he’s quirkless and his father ran off. Mess up him and his mother, they accused poor Bakugou of picking fights and using his quirk in public. Absurd, Bakugou wouldn’t ruin his chances on some nobody like Deku.” Aaaand that was all he need to hear. He would be advising Nezu to investigate this place, the building wasn’t the only thing that smelled.
The secretary seemed like a nice and headstrong lady. When he asked to see the original files she pulled them out of a false bottom in one of her cabinets. She must have been waiting for someone to finally see what she must every day. “I was told to lose these as soon as both boys applied to UA. I’ve seen that poor kid come in fine in the morning and then leave covered in marks or limping home.” She whispers quickly, sparkling purple eyes checking for nosy nellies. “My mom is quirkless and the stories she told me are mother compared to what must be happening to him.” He thanks her and discreetly snaps photos of both files. One taking longer because how large it was.
Bakugou’s sheet listen 7 accounts of bullying since the 3rd grade. And that was just against one student, there were many more of one off fights or arguments. No matter what though it painted the kid as an egotistical narcissist with a God complex who was not above physical violence as a first option. Not what Aizawa would call exemplary or promising. Midoriya on the other hand had no official marks but all his teachers before had called him disruptful and attention seeking. He would have to see for himself at the home interview but he might as well get the one he was sure about out of the way.
So...the Bakugou family was dysfunctional to say the least, Aizawa had been forced to not only use his quirk and also restrain the mother after she attacked her son and made several remarks about her wish for him to “just shape up or go kill himself”. Aizawa felt bad for the father he had tried to calm the situation but his eyes betrayed him, the man had known it wouldn’t work. Now Mrs Bakugou was facing charges of child abuse and suicide baiting, both were small charges but she would still serve time for it. For the two Bakugou men the court would probably suggest therapy for ptsd and whatever non-addressed issues Katsuki would probably had ignored in his childhood.
On the other side of the coin the meeting with the Midoriyas was a short and peaceful affair. The notes on the kid’s file were obviously just the teachers discriminating against a kid that was already delt a bad hand in life. He was definitely having Nezu pick apart that school, hire the secretary too for her smart thinking and strong morals. “Well Ms Midoriya I will be in touch with you soon. And Izuku, you’re going to do great things no matter what you choose to do.” Okay so the kid impressed him...multiple times. He didn’t have a soft spot for bullied kids with minds as sharp as their eyes, no matter what Mic says.
-3 months later-
The sports festival was playing on the television at the support house. The little kids were oohing and awwing. It hurt to even listen to as the students all fought for a spot at the top. Katsuki’s therapist had told him “it is okay to be upset about thing like this but the way you show that emotion should help you get the emotions out not bottle them up.” So he was letting himself be mad and sad and holding onto his dad’s hand for comfort. Another thing his therapist had told him was okay, comfort and crying weren’t weaknesses. Some of the kids were cheering now and one typically shy kid shouted “go green boy!” And there was no way.
Katsuki let go of his dad and moved closer to the tv. The smaller kids gave him room to see the screen. Just as he thought, a small bundle of wirely limbs and green hair slung a slab of metal forward on a pile of canisters. The explosion of pink and red glitter launched Midoriya Izuku, the kid Katsuki had thought he had hated for most of his life, past the losers just hopping over the obstacles and into third place. He joined the kids in their cheers, he wasn’t sure what De- Izu had done to win these kids over but to them he was already a hero. They all watched as he used all of those brains that the Bakugou’s recognized and all of the skill they did not to get further and further through the competition. He thinks his therapist will be happy to know that when Izuku was named that year’s Champion that the only things Katsuki had felt were pride, happiness, and anticipation. He couldn’t wait to get better and be able to tell Izuku just how much he saved him.
Okay so a little different than you probably were expecting buuuut I hope you still like it

Return the Favor by HummusKing ( T | 43,889 | 10/10 )

A rescue is ensured, but instead they come face to face with Deku next to All for One, calling him “Sensei”. Or
A lone figure watched from a distance as Bakugo prostrated himself, hidden ominously behind the trunk of a large willow tree. He tilted his head to the side, finding the sight strange, but intriguing all the same. He knew the blonde would stay there for a while longer.
Katsuki always stayed until 8:56 every Friday night. It would seem odd to everyone else, but to those who knew what had happened, it made complete sense. Izuku Midoriya jumped off the roof of his middle school at 6:15 PM on a Friday and was pronounced dead at 8:56 just a week later, his broken body losing the battle against its injuries.
“Deku… the Master is wanting to speak with you.” A voice whispered.

just a lil bkdk drabble about trading cards and sentimental people.
Bakugou Katsuki was not a sentimental person - or at least he tried not to be. Objects were just that, objects and to tie emotions to something that could easily break was an idiotic thing to do. Hell, even his own gauntlets could be replaced in a blink of an eye ( though the support department would beg to differ and issue a two to three days ).
But one thing.
One thing in particular was the exception.
He’d been seven when his mother had let him travel down to the convenience store with his usual ragtag group, tiny voices all excited about the new trading cards that had been released this morning, and more specifically, just what they had the chance of containing. It was no secret that all of the children idolized All Might in some way. He was brave, kind and powerful - everything a kid could ever aspire to be at the age of seven, and Katsuki had been no exception. When his tiny hands, burned at the top of his palms ( for his own good, his mother had said, but when you get a quirk that literally causes explosions in the palm of your hand, it wore on you ), had ripped open the package to see that brilliant, foiled card, he nearly leaped for joy. The ooohs and ahhhs from his companions soon fill his ears as they realize just how lucky he’d gotten until it’d all been ripped by the happiest of shrieks he’s ever heard.
Deku.
That useless boy…he hadn’t even been invited and yet the moment he’d seen him leave the house, he’d dashed out and fell into place behind him with a warm smile. It’s infuriating that no matter what he does to push the fool away, he always comes back for more.
One glance is all it takes to realize just what’s happened, and for a moment, Katsuki forgot how to breathe. It’s a sickening, nauseating feeling when your stomach tumbles around like it’s on a washer’s spin cycle, but the very second he sees that blossoming grin and felt the literal warmth radiating because of Izuku’s happiness, he thought he was going to hurl.
Staring back at him, in between that neon bandaid and dirty fingernails, stood the same damn card he’d gotten and within seconds he could feel the rage already starting to boil. Stupid…useless…Deku…how the hell did he get so lucky?! Katsuki feels the heat in his hands, knows that all it’d take was just a simple spark to push him to the ground, but it isn’t him that strikes. Another kid, one that lives just a few houses down from his own and two from Izuku swipes the card and in his shock and happiness, it goes flying out of his hand. A chant of ‘give it back’ begins to spew as it’s held high above the shorter kids head until finally, it’s landing into Katsuki’s hands. The look of desperation and fear haunts him until this day as the damning smell of burning cardboard and plastic fill the air with a few pops in between his closed hand. He half expected the other to cry, but when no waterworks come and all he’s greeted with is a blank and dead expression, Katsuki feels terrible.
Whatever…that nerd deserved it…
It’d been nearly twelve years since then, and yet he’d still hung onto that stupid card. Although his fanboying days had come to a quick halt, it still held much more meaning than anything else he owned but something kept picking away at the back of his brain. He’d replay that day over and over, wonder just why the hell he’d decided to be so terrible. Izuku was just a kid - hell, they were all just kids - but no matter how annoying he’d been, he hadn’t deserved something that cruel. Their friendship had been on the mend for years now, and although it’d never be as grand as it had been in their youth, Katsuki liked to think it was better this way. They both kept in touch, even after they’d graduated and slowly but surely, the inevitable happened. It hit him like a truck honestly, when he finally figured it all out. Those sly touches, the way he seemed to warm up inside every time he’d see him…fucking emotions. They could all go to hell. No…no, he doesn’t mean that…at least when it comes to the ones involving Izuku, but he’d be damned if they didn’t make everything all the more complicated.
When he can finally flag down the damn idiot it’s on his own damn birthday. How fucked up is that? Giving someone else a gift when you’re supposed to be the one receiving…especially something that meant so much to the both of them. He has no doubt the other will come up with something to give him but damn, if it wasn’t going to get outshined.
Yeah...just like it should.
A soft hmph comes from him at the thought, and the man of the hour finally makes it to the dimly lit park bench. This is some place safe, some place familiar and although they hadn’t been kids for a long time, they both knew of all the drama that’d been tied with it. A quick greeting and a gut flipping smile later and he’s clasping a hand into his pocket, but he doesn’t pull it out just yet. After all, this wasn’t just something out of the ordinary and although it was just plastic and paper, he knew Izuku would know just what this meant.
“I brought you a present, Kacc-”
“Shut up and sit the fuck down already.”
“O-Okay…” The timidness in his voice burns his skin, but it’s soon replaced by the warm feeling of his cheeks flushing a scarlet red as he pulls out the card and basically shoves it against the other’s chest without looking.
“Here.”
It takes him a second to realize just what’s happening, obviously, but the moment cold fingertips brush against his and grab the card, he can literally feel the air being sucked out of his lungs. He doesn’t want to turn, doesn’t even want to begin to imagine the look on that nerd’s face right now. He’s probably crying…like the big damn baby he is -
No…oh god no. Every bit of his body comes to a halt the very second he looks him in the face, that smile so reminiscent, so warm and full of life and happiness that it could make even the most cold hearted of people weak in the knees. It damn sure made him, but luckily enough it’s easily avoid detection with a swat of his hand against his knee.
“T-This is…Kacchan this is…this is supposed to be your birthday,”
Stop. Stop. Stop talking.
“A-And to give me something like this…” A heavenly chuckle rings through his ears and makes Katsuki lose his hearing annoyingly. Everything else that Izuku says is nothing but a blur until finally he’s feeling the warmth of lips connecting against his cheek in the most impossible way and waking him from his trance. He hadn’t even gotten the chance to react before he sees that body flee, eyes glued to the card instead of that stupid blush that made its home on Katsuki’s cheeks. His skin burned hotter than anything imaginable and if he wasn’t so sure it sounded idiotic, he’d say Izuku’s lips had been imprinted onto his cheek like a damn burn scar. A hand comes up to his lips subconsciously, tips almost touching where he could feel the disgusting nerd’s kiss drying way too quickly.
“Thank you, Kacchan…this means th–”
“I said stop talking. Stop fucking talking, Deku.” Before he really thinks about it, it’s lunging on top of him, foreheads butting, noses knocking until finally with a pissed off hiss, Katsuki finds that perfect spot with lips pressed against lips. He can feel that urge rising higher and higher, his stomach tossing and turning until finally it can’t take it anymore and he wraps an arm around the bastard to press into it. He feels him struggle at first, but damn isn’t this what he wanted?? Just what the hell did he expect doing something like giving a cheek kiss, no retaliation?? Ha. Midoriya Izuku would never beat him out, he’d make sure of that.
He’d heard about how first kisses were supposed to be special, how they were supposed to hold the happiest of memories, but Katsuki had thought it impossible for himself. He was too brash, too high strung to even imagine something as soft as romance and yet, the very second his lips connect with Izuku’s, it’s like the whole world had disappeared. There was no looming clouds, no angry thoughts or constant feelings of being stuck running behind him. In this moment, they were equals. They were partners. They were so much more than what he’d even imagined and it takes his breath away.
–Literally.
He struggles to breathe, immediately tearing his lips away in order to gasp but they don’t go far as hands find their way onto either side of his burning cheeks and pull him in to smack forehead to forehead like they were in some shitty rom-com film his mom would make him watch. Izuku laughs, mostly at the scowl that makes its way onto Katsuki’s face, and it softens to the point that all he can do is shut his eyes and wish this moment would never end. He doesn’t know what this means, doesn’t even pretend to - hell, he doesn’t even know what to say, but that doesn’t make this any less perfect.
That smile is closer than it’s ever been, just inches from his own mouth and he can feel it radiating over him like the damn sun. God, was he in love and was he hopeless. It’s such a stupid feeling but for once, Katsuki wouldn’t change it for anything in the world.
He huffs like a damn dog, blowing his breath between them before their lips connect one more time, much softer, much more experienced than the last but still as breathtaking. It doesn’t last long as Izuku is pulling a bulky package between them without so much as pulling away an inch.
“–Y-Your present.”
“Fuck that, I just want you to be my present.”
“K-Kacchan!” He can feel the laughter vibrate in his chest, a husky tone so soft that it takes him away and into happier childhood times when Izuku swats at his shoulder playfully and demands he opens it. The blush that scurries onto the other’s face is nothing short of becoming, making his freckles jump out and all the cuter - fuck, Katsuki, that’s gay.
With a short groan, he’s finally pulling away and his face draws back into that normal scowl ( resting bitch face, is what Todoroki had once called it, like that asshole could even talk ). “Fine, fine, I’ll open the damn thing. It better not be anything sappy.”
“You just kissed me and you want to critique about being sappy?…”
“Shut the fuck up, nerd. I’m opening it now.”
He hears him go silent at that, except for the nervous slide closer until Katsuki can feel the heat from Izuku’s head resting against his shoulder perfectly. The gift itself isn’t all that spectacular, about what he’d expected from Izuku and his pro-hero salary. Hell, it isn’t even mature enough for a grown up, but something about the way it’d been wrapped with such determination and with such care speaks to Katsuki in ways that something materialistic couldn’t.
Bakugou Katsuki was not a sentimental person, but maybe, just maybe, he’d cherish this stupid watch with his stupid mask decorating the stupid outlines and the stupid way it has grenades all over it. He knows it, he was there for it’s design, but shit if it didn’t mean everything to him coming from Izuku.
“Kacchan?…You look like you’re going to cr–”
Shut up, asshole!! I’m not!” He snaps, furiously swiping a arm at his eyes to clear up anything of the sorts before stuffing the damn thing in his pocket and standing, leaving Izuku confused. “I’m going home.”
“O-Oh, okay?…I’ll see you later then?..”
“What the fuck are you talking about? Get your ass over here.”
He hears a soft agreement before feeling an arm brush against his and the whiff of cologne burst through the air between them. God, he could get used to smelling that…
The feeling of something warm wrapping around his callous hands draws him out of his thoughts, and Katsuki nearly flinches until he realizes just what’s happening. Izuku is holding his hand. Goddamn it, when did this nerd get so confident in touching him?? Oh…wait, he’d been the one to open this door hadn’t he? Shit. With an unhappy grumble he intertwines their fingers, paying too much mind to the way they seem to slot together so perfectly and looks away.
“Happy Birthday, Kacchan,” Another grumble as a tug on his hand signals him to lean down close enough that Izuku can plant one last kiss onto his cheek before finally surrendering to the walk back to his apartment.
Bakugou Katsuki might not be a sentimental person when it came to objects but people…people he would cherish until the end of time.
