Scary Movie Night with the Papas(Headcanons)
No warnings just spooooooky season!!!
Primo
Prefers the old black and white classic films(Frankestein, House on a Haunted Hill, The Invisible Man, etc.)
If you prefer more modern horror, Primo of course will still sit with you. But honestly, finds movies like Saw that rely on gore or shock factor to be a bit boring and lacking creativity
Try avoiding anything with extreme and constant jumpscares, unless you want to try giving the old man a heart attack
Doesnât find them scary, but he can be startledÂ
Will let you cozy up to him on the couch wrapped up in either his robes or blankets with snacks
Makes brownies with some of his own âspecialâ grown plants to make the night extra fun and relaxing
Comforts you and lets you curl into his side if you ever get scared, softly reassuring you that it isnât real. He would never allow any monsters to hurt you
Primo always falls asleep halfway through the second or third movie, every single time without fail. Doesnât matter how many times he reassures you that he wonât this time, he will get too comfy and fall right asleep. His soft snoring is cute and comforting however.
Movie night always ends up with you both sleeping on the couch wrapped up together.
Secondo
Takes movie night VERY serious
Also tends to prefer the more classic movies, but Secondo is willing to watch anything at least once
Thinks of himself as a movie critic, so be prepared to listen to his complaints or criticism throughout the movie if he doesnât like it
Only allows snacks that you would typically find at a movie theater such as candy or popcorn. Even went as far as to get his own popcorn machine to make it feel extra authentic
Secondo will tease you if you ever get scared, but pulls you into his side and lets you bury your face. Laughs at the idea that he would ever let anything hurt you, so you should have nothing to fear
It is one of his favorite things though, when you nestle yourself up against him seeking his comfort and protection. Emotionally constipated, this man craves any sort of positive reinforcement. So the fact that he makes you feel safe gives him a bit of a warm fuzzy feeling that he hates to acknowledge
But Secondo totally also gets spooked sometimes by some of the more suspenseful films, just would rather die than ever admit that to you
You always fall asleep first. Depending on how he feels, Secondo either will situate you both to sleep comfortably on the couch, or he will carry you back to bed
Terzo
Always being extra, Terzo turns every movie night into a big extravagant event
Gathers the finest blankets and pillows for the couch
Along with the stereotypical snacks of popcorn and candy, he also has the ghouls on catering duty. Hungry for a steak in the middle of the movie? Say less.
Has no particular preference for the films, so it is entirely your choice for what to watch
Just know that Terzo will scream
Both of you will end up comforting each other when the movie gets too scary. Holding each other tight, taking turns of who hides their face and who watches to say when it is safe to watch again
Loves movies that are a little more on the silly side, such as Cabin Fever or Evil Dead. Together you love to mock the characters for making dumb choices or being oblivious and how unrealistic the effects are
Most of the time you both end up falling asleep together on the couch in a bit of a food coma. Omega sometimes comes into the room with the random food you requested only to find you both passed out. The ghoul will throw you each over one of his shoulders and carry you to bed, neither of you ever wake up as he does this somehow.
Terzo has specific fuzzy socks and matching pajama sets reserved only for scary movie night
Copia
Absolutely one of Copiaâs favorite things to do together and makes it a very regular occurrence
Open to all types of horror movies, but still has his preferences. Comedy horror is definitely top of the list
Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, Tremors, and Cabin in the Woods are among his most commonly picked
Movie talker for sure! Gets really excited and into the film and constantly will comment on things that are happening on screen. It is kind of adorable
Will let the rats join you for part of the night. They love to cuddle in your laps with their own special bowl of plain unflavored popcorn
Copia is more likely to be the one that gets spooked by the movie, so be ready for him to have a death grip on your hand
Regularly changes who passes out first, but generally it is Copia. With how hard he works, you canât really blame him. But if he is out, that generally means the end of movie night. Dude snores like a chainsaw.Â
Both of you end up sleeping on the couch in weird positions that generally would not be considered comfortable, but by some miracle you never wake up with aches and pains
The morning after is always spent with a warm full course breakfast

First Dates (Luke, Marius, Artem, Vyn)
Cw: Fluff
NXX boys x Fem! Reader
REQUESTS ARE OPEN
Luke
Lukeâs style seems to gravitate towards stuff like them park dates and county fair dates, so thatâs what he does for your first
He picks you up early on a Saturday morning, bright eyed and bushy tailed. You're almost annoyed because no one should be so perky before 10 am in the morning. And he doesnât need coffee rude
The two of you stop for a quick breakfast before descending on the theme park
After that you run through the usual culprits: twirly rides, house of mirrors, a couple roller coasters (before lunch, not after), pretending to be scared at the haunted house rides
he shows off his aim at some of the game booths winning you exactly what you want
You even manage to convince him to do face painting with you
In all honesty, it feels like being kids again. Except kids donât hold hands and find secluded areas to make out
In the evening you find a nice little hill--scratch that, the two of you are definitely sitting next to each other on the Farris wheel while you watch the fireworks
Marius
A date with Marius is upscale. You definitely need a fancy dress which he has no problems paying for
It comes in two parts
First he takes you to an art gallery. One he totally rented out for the night
Youâre more than happy to watch him smile and talk about his art. He always lights up and sometimes loses that mask of the rich little shit and it is a treat
You spend several hours there, but heâs mindful of your comfort. Heels are a bitch to walk in for long periods of time.Â
When youâre ready to leave, Marius takes you to a super fancy restaurant. You went a little pale when you saw where you were going, then reminded you that Marius has the money to volunteer to give you ridiculously expensive dogs. A private reservation overlooking a quiet park is no biggie for Mr. Acting President von Hagen. Â
All in all, itâs very nice. You canât get out of being the object of his teasing and no matter how fancy the joint, he still gets full named.Â
Artem
A first date with Artem is classic. Dinner and a movie.Â
The two of you ended up going back and forth about who picked the movie and diner, eventually settling on you picking the movie while he picked the diner.
You did your research and picked something that would appeal to both of you. A reshowing of a timeless chick flick: The Titanic (Is the Titanic a classic in 2030?)
Artem makes sure he has plenty of tissues he knows youâre prone to crying at the end
Afterwards, you two have an in depth debate over whether Jack and Rose would have both fit on the door. He tells you that if that ever happens, heâll make sure both of you survive.Â
For diner Artem takes you to a nice Mom-and-Pop restaurant. It turns out heâs been going there since he was a kid and the proprietors are really happy to see that âArtie finally found himself a nice girl. Itâs about time.â
Despite their gentle teasing, the food there really is some of the best youâve ever had
Of course, Artem drives you home himself and walks you to the door
Vyn
And last, but never least Vyn âhere are my red flagsâ Richter
On the scale of fancy to classic to casual, Vyn ends up bringing you on a date that rates somewhere between fancy and classic. Itâs classy, itâs upscale, but itâs not oozing âI run a conglomerateâ either
He takes you to see a ballet or an Opera. Swan lake, maybe, Something refined, much like your date
Of course, you have very good seats. Vyn wouldnât have anything else.
After the show, you go to a quiet, but upscale restaurant. Itâs one well known for itâs wine, which the guy is an absolute stickler for.Â
Vyn is a complete gentleman the entire time. Really, he always is. Treating you with nothing but the utmost respect, despite his concerning manipulative tendencies and you enjoy seeing a glimpse of what Vyn is like when youâre not calling him Dr. Richter.
#I think an opera or ballet with vyn would be so fun#granted that's a type of entertainment I like anyway#And yeah I think Titanic would be considered a classic in 2030#luke pearce#xia yan#luke hcs#xia yan hcs#luke x reader#xia yan x reader#luke x fem!reader#xia yan x fem!reader#marius von hagen#lu jinghe#marius hcs#lu jinghe hcs#marius x reader#marius x fem!reader#lu jinghe x reader#lu jinghe x fem!reader#artem wing#zuo ran#artem hcs#zuo ran hcs#artem x reader#zuo ran x reader#artem x fem!reader#zuo ran x fem!reader#vyn richter#mo yi#vyn hcs

hi socks just wanna let u know i have been thinking about those vashwood as roommates headcanons and i always come back to it cz itâs somehow??? so comforting??? 10/10 chefâs kiss thank u!
it's honestly my comfort au-- so here's a part two ! (here's part one)
Having Vash and Wolfwood as roommates would include(part two);;
warnings;; I included some nsfw headcanons this time. they're at the end and have a warning. This also has a bit of fighting/angst that ends in fluff notes: i have a couple of fics in the work for this au. let me know if there any big moments you would like to see written out into a full fic! (also possibly a knives spin off??)
Their jobs/majors
I kind of feel like Vash is studying in the science department. Specifically something that has to do with plant science? Botany, Environmental science, maybe even biology? I know itâs a little on the nose but I really do think it would work perfectly for him
Maybe he even opens up his own little flower shop in the future??
No matter what he has a lot of labs and he is always tired after them.
He probably has a part-time job as a barista at a little cafe on campus
No thoughts just Vash in a cute little apron
Heâs a fan favorite among the college kids. They say he makes the best coffee, and he sometimes gives people little freebies when they look sad
His manager Meryl actively yells at him for it, but she doesnât actually care that much.
He ALWAYS will give you freebies if you come in to visit him. He gets a free drink as an employee, and heâll save it for you just in case you come in. Sometimes heâll even take it to go and drop it off for you
Wolfwood gives huge phycology vibes. Mans had a messed up childhood and wants nothing more than to help other people through that stuff
Either that or heâs an art student. I can see that too
He takes school very seriously, but he is horrible at math. He cannot divide to save his life. Heâs had to retake his math class like three times
His job? Well nobody knows and at this point everyone is too scared to ask. (Heâs a security guard lol)
Whatever it is, he hates it. He comes home grumpy and needs lots of hugs and kisses.
Heâll be all pouty and pissed off, and then youâll give him a little kiss on the cheek and a small smile will break outÂ
Bonus; Knives is on the track to becoming a surgeon. I will die on the hill that he is going into the medical field. (heâd look so good in scrubs) and i know McDonalds knives is kind of funny, but I'm thinking heâs actually and EMT. Imagine getting hurt and having Knives be your first responder (id die on the spot)
First Date
Itâs not really a date- well you donât call it a date. Vash just walks in with a couple of free tickets to a haunted house event thing and asks if you and Wolfwood want to come
Youâre like hell yeah
The drive there is like the calm before the storm. You listen to some music, seated in front with wolfwood driving. He definitely has his hand on your thigh. Vash is super excited about finally doing something that isnât getting high and playing games
You all thought it was gonna be some dumb little spooky house. Theyâre never that scary. Itâs just fun to see all the decorations and actors
Oh boy were you wrong
Itâs so well put together. The actors are really into it, and they have amazing make up. When youâre standing in line, some clown girl walks up to Vash and you watch the regret build up on his face. The guy is already terrified
The first hallway is pitch black, and you have to rely on a feeling your way through it. Vash is mumbling about how much he hates it the entire time
Wolfwood is like âDonât worry guys Iâll protect you.â And then proceeds to let out the loudest scream when the lights come on and thereâs a girl dressed up as a ghost standing there
Soon all three of you are huddled up, holding hands, and shaking
These things should not be that scary!!!
Itâs Vash who gets you kicked out
He gets so spooked that he runs into a bunch of boxes and knocks one of the fake walls down. The entire thing has to stop to fix it
Youâre all banned
After that you go eat pancakes and complain about how scary it was
When things get tense
Fights can happen sometimes
None of you are perfect, and those boys have gone through some shit
Vash tends to shut himself away from you when heâs upset. He doesnât come out of his room, and when he does he pretends like heâs fine.Â
He doesnât like burdening other people with his problems.
Eventually it just starts to feel like he doesnât trust you enough to let you in. SIt gets really bad when he tells you to go away one day, and you watch Wolfwood walk into his room 30 minutes later
It doesnât really turn into a fight. You just get sad, and even a little insecure. So, you avoid him back. Not because youâre vengeful, just because you feel hurt
A few days of the two of you not talking and Vash is in tears by your door
He begs for forgiveness and explains why heâs like this
You tell him itâs okay, but what he does really hurt you. He promises to work on it, and he does
That night the two of you make up for loss time
Wolfwood and you fight a lot more
Most of the time itâs silly little arguments that you solve pretty fast
Wolfwood is bad at communicating in general. But especially when it comes to his feelings
He has really bad days sometimes, and he can get grumpy really fast these days, and one day you really piss him off
He wonât tell you what you did though, he just gives you the cold shoulder
That pisses you off because youâd so be willing to talk it out and apologize, but he wonât tell you what you didÂ
So youâre mad now too
Things are tense between you too, and it all comes to an end on movie night when you start arguing about what movie to watch
You want to watch one of your favorite movies from your childhood and he says that itâs a stupid movie
Things get heated fast, while Vash just disappears into the background. He that the two of you need to workout your problems on your own (but he really wants to intervene)Â
When the tears start falling, Wolfwood immediately stops
He takes a breath, and the two of you sit down and just talk.Â
You talk ALL night about what happened, and what the two of you could have done better. In the end, you fall asleep on his chest while he plays with your hair.Â
You have movie night the next night to make up for it, and he puts the movie you wanted to watch in before you can even talk about it ( he ends up loving the movie and after that you two watch it all the time)
Id have to make an entire other thing for when Vash and Wolfwood fight because itâs no fun for anyone
NSFW stuff
After the three of you finally get past the awkward stages and start fucking, you find out these two areâŠhorny
Theyâll grab you and go to town any time
They really like to share you, but thereâs no jealousy in the relationship so itâs okay for one on one time as well!
Wolfwood will pull you into steamy make out sessions whenever. Heâll do it out of nowhere. I imagine he just really likes you, and canât get enough
Heâs very handsy. Heâll constantly have his hand on your hips, or your thigh, and your waist. He likes touching you
Heâs the type to sneak risquĂ© touches in public. He like watching you struggle to not let anyone else know what heâs doing
Quickies everywhere with Wolfwood
Vash is a lot more loving (not that Wolfwood isnât lovingâ he probably has cried during sex)Â
Vash takes his time though. He wants every moment with you to be special. He likes to do stuff like rubbing your back, and peppering kisses down your shoulders. Heâll run his hand up your shirt, and kiss your neck softly. He builds up to it
He really likes shower/bath sex. Itâs intimate and relaxing
He also like when you take control (i know heâs a whimperer)
He is so bad at any type of public sex though. He gets embarrassed way too easily (and i think Wolfwood has fun with that)Â
When the three of you do it together itâs fucking electricÂ

The Things In The Dark
Cryptid!Hawks x Male reader
Warnings
Stalking, Mentions of murder/death, manipulative partner, Yandere, Smut in a later chapter
Y/n is a ghost hunter who has, against his better judgement, decided to check out a newly famous cryptid that's causing problems for the owner of Albright.
Hunting cryptids is never as fun as it sounds.
Driving hours a day only to sleep on the floor of some crumbling building in the middle of nowhere is the reality of the situation. A reality that took its toll on y/nâs back. Unfortunately, Y/n gets more views the more uncomfortable he is, so no cot. Just an old-ass flashlight, his camera, a sleeping bag, and an EMS reader. If this isnât the height of luxury, then what is? Sure, having thousands of people watch your every move the moment you press that live button is a little intimidating, but it more than pays the bills.
Gravel crunched under his tires as Y/n pulled into the parking lot of his next haunt location. This video, a 10k special, was unlike anything the young ghost hunter had even dreamed of doing. Gone were the days of hiking through woods and getting kicked out of cemeteries. Y/n scanned the large metal gate guarded by a small ticket booth. It was one of those gates that was in the middle of nowhere, one whose only purpose was keeping people off the path. Y/n couldnât help but laugh at the footprints in the grass beside it. Y/n set up his camera, careful to get the gate centered. âHistoric Albright. State Park.â The words were painted sloppily on the side of the small ticket booth, a perfect thumbnail.
The gate creaked open without much hesitation and Y/n started his walk through the town. Old buildings lined the gravel road, most of them had displays showing what they would have looked like in their prime. Y/n could easily imagine this street busy with people dressed in their old-timey clothes doing their old-timey chores. As the sun set on the town, casting a shadow of the large hill onto its streets, the people would be lazily talking to their friends waiting to be invited in. Children would be racing to get back home before curfew, dodging the various shopkeepers making their ways home. Home. Y/n longed to go back home. It had been far too long since he visited that small town, one not too different from this one save for the advancements in technology.
Y/n slowed as he reached the bottom of the hill, pulling his jacket tight. It was colder than it should be in early September, but that only pushed him further. According to one of the many nearby plaques, the house above once belonged to the townâs local hero turned mayor, Keigo Takami. If the legends are to be believed, the residents quickly fled after a curse was placed upon their brave leader.
Their words, not y/nâs. Hopefully their âbrave leaderâ was ahead of his time on insulation techniques. The sooner he got into the manor the better.
The low sun cast an orange glow around the edge of the manor. It looked straight out of a fairytale. The magnificent three-story house stood far above the ghost-town below. Y/n went over what the Ranger had told him. Both the manor and the town were now owned by a local state park that had been established around the start of the âcryptid crazeâ. When y/n reached out about wanting to make a video at the park, the owners were ecstatic. Hawks was bad for business, but a viral video about him could definitely help.
Theoretically, this should all be a hit with both ghost hunters and the average joe, but tourists had stopped showing up about two months ago.
A week after the sightings started.
The internet was flooded with pictures of a humanoid figure with large blood-colored wings and metallic eyes. People theorized about what this creature was and why it was at Albright. It was after a video released with the creature swooping down on the camera with a shriek eerily similar to that of a redtail hawk that the creature was given a name. Hawks. God the internet was full of such creative ideas.
Mothmanâs less iconic ripoff.
Thatâs what y/n called it. But his viewers were insistent that he had to visit. Had to try to contact the monster.
Try to find Hawks.
Despite the lackluster name, those that claimed to have seen Hawks all shared a genuine terror. Y/n had to quickly learn the difference between putting on a fearful face to get a few more views and genuine gut wrenching fear. The quick breaths. The darting eyes. The blood-drained face. Hawksâ victims had them all.
Every single one of them.
Hawks was not your average cryptid, it was nothing like y/n had ever dealt with. As much as y/n may joke about the situation, he couldnât deny the reality of it all. The person behind the iconic video had been severely injured and died on their way to the hospital. Two deaths later and the park was forced to shut their gates. It was said that you could hear Hawksâ screams from miles away for nearly a week. Once the park had been silent for over two weeks a team searched the entire park and werenât able to find the monster. It was decidedly safe to open back up, but the public wasnât so sure. Thankfully they were still curious and y/n was willing to be their satisfied cat.
Y/n readied his camera, keeping his eyes on the viewfinder. Planks of wood bared the downstairs windows. Each one tightly nailed to the rotting window frames. The clawed white paint flaked off the walls in large chunks near the foundation and doorway. A picture perfect haunted house. And an amazing shot.
âHello guys and welcome to another episode of commission cryptids! My Patreon members decided this week's paranormal investigation will be on the infamous Hawks.â Y/n continued his intro as normal, self promos all included. There wasnât enough signal here to run a livestream. Luckily YouTube is a thing. Unfortunately that means editing a video.
Y/n grabbed the cold brassy door handle as he began to explain the lore and local history of Hawks. He pushed against the door in an attempt at a grand reveal, but it didnât open. He tried again with not so much as a creak in return. âHuh, well I was told the door would be unlocked. Um- Iâm just going to make a phone call real quick.â Y/n turned off his camera and shoved it into his bag.
Y/n scrolled through his recent messages.
Mom
I know, I know, Iâm just worried about you. Stay safe.
Layton
Who all is going to be there!? You canât just leave whenever you have some video idea. I und-
Grace
For the love of fuck, your boyfriend is so annoying!
Ranger
Thanks so much for your help Linette, this video will be a hit!
Y/n clicked on the text, rereading the last conversation.
Ranger
The best shot of the house is definitely from town square! It looks so intimidating up there!
Me
Haha the more intimidating the better! Will any of the places in town be open?
Ranger
No just the house. But I can leave you the keys if you want? They are all labeled!
Me
That would be great!
Ranger
Cool! Iâll leave them right inside the door!
Me
Thanks so much for your help Linette, this video will be a hit!
Inside the door.
Just the house.
Sighing, y/n pressed the call button. Maybe she just forgot to unlock it?
It rang once.
Twice.
âThe person you are trying to reach is not available.â
He tried again.
Once.
Twice.
âThe person you are trying to rea-â
He hit the red button before the robotic voice could finish its message.
Of course there wouldnât be any signal at the ghost house. Y/n knew this. The last time he remembers having signal was over thirty minutes ago. Sure he /could/ drive out there, but the sun was almost completely set already. He shuddered at the thought of entering the house in the dead of night. Sure he had done his fair share of â3AM at insert scary location hereâ videos, but this place was different.
He couldnât leave. Not now,
âSo, funny story, the ranger that was supposed to unlock the door must have forgotten. And I donât I canât call her, believe me I tried.â Y/n raised his phone to the camera. The two red attempted calls stood proudly at the top of his screen. âGuess we are breaking in.â
Y/n continued to mindlessly talk to his non-existent audience as he walked around the property.
This wasnât the first y/n had to break into a filming location. When you find yourself staying in abandoned buildings, it just becomes part of the job.
Y/n walked carefully scanned every inch of overgrown greenery. Shattered glass and cigarettes littered various hiding spots. The trampled grass was a welcome sign of life, but y/n worried he would have a run in with his fellow ghost hunters in training. The stories of this house were no secret, and his comment section was a proof of their popularity. He was sure any visitors would be nice enough but he didnât want to chase the things going bump in the night just to find some kid. As he made his way to the far edge of the yard a small building caught y/nâs attention. It too was painted white, but it was in much better condition than the house. Y/n broke the lock, making a mental note to replace it later, and opened the door. The warm glow of the fast falling sun glinted on the metal tools lining the walls. A gardenerâs shed. Not the most helpful, but he could make it work.
Grabbing a ladder and spade, y/n set his plan into action.
The ladder was just tall enough to reach the top of the porch awning. The small roof was covered in slimy leaves and loose singles. He carefully climbed closer to the window, cursing when he heard the metallic crash of the ladder falling. He tightened his grip on the spade and dug it into the bottom of the window. Pushing and pushing until the tip of the spade disappeared. Next was the easy part, opening it. He twisted the spade, hard, until it was completely on its side. The window opened easily making y/n fall onto the hard wooden floor.
Y/n scrambled for his bag and pulled out the camera.
âFirst off, OW! Secondly, I made it in!â Once again Y/n mindlessly talked and walked. Without the chat to guide him, he had a certain freedom. But also a strange feeling of loneliness. Ghosts arenât good company, so here he was, showing off the house to his very lucky SD card.
Wandering around the house Y/n did his best to recall all the stories he heard, telling him them in the spookiest voice he could muster.
âThey say the bottom floor is the safest, apparently Hawks prefers to stay near his room. Lucky me- I- Um.â
A speck of silver glinted innocently into y/nâs camera from the bottom of the front door. Y/nâs skin was ice cold as he descended the last few steps. A speck of silver glared up at him. The silver keys. They sat on a small slip of paper, as Y/n drew closer he could see Linetteâs name signing it.
âWhat-â
Y/n could imagine his chat. The confusion as to why he stopped. People trying to call bs and say his fear was fake. Too forced to be real. The loyal few defending him. As he stood frozen in place, y/n yearned for it. For the simple distraction. For something to prompt him on what to say next.
He slowly turned his camera towards the door, panning down to the keys. They looked no less ominous on screen.
AAAA hope you guys enjoy this first part! I'm not super sure where this is going, but I wanted to write something a little different before hoping back into Three Months!
Anyways, let me know what you guys think!

Teen angst Cove :(
Takes place in Step 3, at the end of the Drinks moment in Baxter's DLC. You just went to see the play with Mr. Monochrome then invited him in your house to talk to him about his feelings, but little did you know your bestie was having some big feelings of his own across the street.
Cove had always been blunt with his words. Especially when he was younger, he'd say whatever came to mind -- not with the intent of hurting others, but that's what happened sometimes. He'd gotten a little more sensitive as he got older, more able to distinguish what he should express and what would be better left unsaid.
That was what haunted him most though -- the things he'd chosen to keep to himself.
He thought about that as he peered out the window in his living room, watching you with Baxter
He hadn't meant to spy on you, at least not at first. He got home late, having closed up at the restaurant, and wanted to see you after a particularly draining shift. He'd quickly changed his clothes and then did a quick peep to see if your light was still on.
Instead, he saw Baxter's car pull up into his spot next door. When he saw you both get out, dressed to the nines, his curiosity got the better of him. Not enough to actually want to go outside and talk to Baxter, but enough to keep watching.
Cove expected to be able to go over after you were done, using his preferred window method. Instead, he watched the two of you talking in the street between your houses. Trying to figure out what you were talking about that made you look so serious, he quickly stopped when he saw you lead him to your front door and lead him inside.
There was nothing else to see at his lonely spot by the window.
Cove liked you. Like really, deeply, achingly liked you. Sometimes he thought about whether it might be love, but he wasn't sure if he could go that far without, you know, you actually knowing about his feelings.
As he walked back to his room, utterly defeated and trying desperately not to think about why you'd be taking the weirdo neighbor inside your house this late at night, he had an inkling it might be love after all.
It wasn't that he didn't know about you and Baxter -- he definitely did. He'd listen to you gush about how the cute boy you'd danced with five years ago randomly popped back into your life and asked to be your "suitor for a season," like it was the most romantic, charming thing in the world and not a way-too-forward move from a pushy creep who would disappear in a couple of months.
Seeing you that happy was nice, if he didn't think too hard about the reason, and in his more rational moments, Cove could accept that maybe jealousy was tinging his feelings about Baxter a bit.
But underneath all of it -- the jealousy, the confusion -- the worst of it was the regret.
Cove knew you were special for years -- most of his life at this point, even. He knew it when you popped up all those years ago on the poppy hill when he was sure his young life was falling apart. You helped put him back together, and as time went by, as he got to know you and share experiences with you, that knowledge only solidified. You were everything to him. Important enough that he'd never been able to risk changing things between you by telling you that he'd also really like to kiss you sometimes.
He'd tried to stifle that part of his feelings for you for a while now. Sometimes he looked at your lips a little too long while you were talking, and sometimes at the beach he'd let himself stare at you in your swimsuit while you weren't paying attention. Then there were the dreams, which were exhilarating but shameful -- when they happened, he was at least able to comfort himself a little by reminding himself that he couldn't control what his body did when he was asleep.
The words had almost come out a few times -- when you'd gone on the RV trip with your families and he'd gotten up the courage to ask you about what you like on another person. After he told you about his affinity for anklets, you wore one every once in a while, just to tease him, he was sure. Still, he thought about telling you then, just in case there was a chance you were trying to send him a message, but the thought of him ruining your friendship with an unreciprocated crush was enough to make him bite his tongue.
But none of that mattered now. You were enamored with Baxter, and he was feeding his fish, preparing for a night alone.

A Hodepodge of Older Shows to Watch During the Strike
We support the writerâs strike here, and in a Culture of New, TV execs are going to use the âimpactâ to currently running shows in order to try to shift your support to them. But here in Tumblr we have revived century-old novels and put them firmly in the mainstream by having a Tumblr-wide bookclub, so I think we can do the same to older shows--not only to keep ourselves entertained, but to remind us all why writers are so important to begin with. Now that AI is coming dangerously close to replacing writersâ work (and is indeed one of the issues the writers are striking over), I think itâs important to remember that our favorite lines (one of mine is âEverything is confettiâ from Haunting of Hill House) couldnât have happened without a writer creating and then fighting for it. Writers deserve healthy workplaces, fair compensation, and recognition for their talent.
Disclaimers: 1. As with all shows, but especially older ones, there will be problematic content. 2. I will try to avoid obvious recs that still have an active fanbase like Star Trek or Buffy, but I donât have my finger on the pulse of pop culture so maybe I rec something thatâs still pretty popular and I donât realize it. Iâm also not necessarily going for âobscureâ or âyouâve never heard of this,â but just shows people might have overlooked. Yes, Iâm from the US (sorry!) and yes, I would love to hear from non-US people about the best shows from your country that Iâm missing out on! Please feel free to reblog and add your favorites to this! Â 3. Maybe my taste doesnât align with yours and you disagree. Maybe I missed something because I didnât want this to be 500 pages long. Thatâs fine! Again, reblog with your own recs. The more, the better! 4. Genres are weird. I tried. 5. I chose not to add where you could find these series because it can vary country to country, but if all else fails, check your local libraryâs media collection! (And if that fails, you might sail the seas...) 6. Please be cool... please.Â
Comedies
Better Off Ted (2009, 2 seasons) A workplace comedy in an evil corporation. Perfect for fans of The Office or Arrested Development. Happy Endings (2011, 3 seasons) Itâs like if Friends was just every so slightly more diverse. Takes place in Chicago, which is cool.
M*A*S*H (1972, 11 seasons) Youâve probably heard of this comedy/drama that stars cultural icon Alan Alda as a cynical army medic just trying to survive the Korean War, but have you watched it yet? You should.
NewsRadio (1995, 5 seasons) A workplace comedy in a news radio station starring Phil Hartman. A less cringy Office and a less sophisticated Frasier. Vicar of Dibley (1994, 3 series + specials) Dawn French plays the first-ever female vicar in a small English village. Watch out for an utterly amazing Spice Girls reference and Richard Armitage. Keeping Up Appearances (1990, 5 series) A British woman from a lower class family attempts to social climb to predictably hilarious results. Was apparently one of the Queen Motherâs favorite shows though I canât for the life of me figure out what she got from it.
Youâre the Worst (2014, 5 seasons) Just two really toxic people in a relationship trying to make it work. Definitely has dramatic undertones in addition to being pretty funny.
Side note: If you like comedy, get a subscription to Dropout TV. Iâm not a shill. Nobodyâs paying me to say this. I just really love it and theyâre a great company to support. Science Fiction/Supernatural
Babylon 5 (1994, 5 seasons) Was Deep Space Nine your favorite Star Trek series? Watch this. (Watch it even if it wasnât.)
Sliders (1995, 5 seasons) An updated Quantum Leap. Jerry OâConnell and John Rhys-Davies star. A couple of scientists and their unfortunate friends are stuck sliding between alternate universes trying to find their way home.
Wynonna Earp (2016, 4 seasons) The great-great granddaughter of Wyatt Earp is tasked with sending reincarnated outlaws back to Hell. Often called the spiritual successor to Buffy, this is a real campy adventure in the Wild West and everything Supernatural wished it could be.Â
Lost Girl (2010, 5 seasons) This show is about a bisexual succubus named Bo. I donât know what else you need to watch this.
Drama
The Darling Buds of May (1991, 3 series) The British Little House on the Prairie if Pa were a con man you like to root for. An early Catherine Zeta-Jones stars as the oldest daughter who kidnaps and marries a tax inspector in order to avoid paying taxes. Incredible. Icon. Â
Midsomer Murders (1997, 24+ series) Technically, this one is still going (and Iâm sure everyoneâs heard of it), but thereâs so many back episodes to get through, I still feel okay recommending it because itâs great for binge-watching when youâre sick. Youâll never run out of episodes. Cozy murder mysteries that take place in Englandâs most deadly village. Joyce deserves better.
In the Heat of the Night (1988, 7 seasons + films) A crime procedural in the Deep South in the US, a big city Black detective is hired as the head detective in a small town in rural Mississippi. Progressive (for its time), this show dealt with racial issues, police corruption, poverty, and more.
Six Feet Under (2001, 5 seasons) Two brothers work together to run the family business, a funeral home, in the wake of their fatherâs death. The showâs finale is considered one of the greatest of all time, so you can go in having confidence in a satisfying conclusion.
Historical Fiction/Fantasy
Rome (2005, 2 seasons) A collaboration between HBO and BBC, one of the most expensive series of its time. Has so many incredible character actors. You will constantly be on your phone asking where you recognize That Guy from. Polly Walker was instrumental in my discovering my sexuality.Â
Xena: Warrior Princess (1995, 6 seasons) Okay, I know this is another popular one, but it also feels like a show people have heard of and never watched, so this is your reminder to do so. Brideshead Revisited (1981, 1 series) British schoolboys doing what schoolboys do best (falling in love with each other). Adaptation of Evelyn Waughâs novel by the same name. Galavant (2015, 2 seasons) Hilarious musical comedy about a downtrodden knight trying to rescue his girlfriend from King Richard, even though she is actually pretty happy being Queen. Catchiest theme ever. SUPPORT WRITERS.

Helming Jamie Childs' new crime-thriller, the actor talks tuning into a character, writing out their history and embracing the spontaneity of his own.
BY SOPHIE WANG
In early January 2022, as the rest of us added layer upon layer, watching the temperatures drop to zero, Oliver Jackson-Cohen travelled north of his London home and jumped bravely into the North Sea. âIâm really proud of the whole movie, but Iâm quite proud that we all made it out alive, really,â he tells me nine months later, home safe with rays of morning sun separating us from the realities of his time filming, Jackdaw.
The debut feature from TV writer and director Jamie Childs (The Sandman, His Dark Materials), Jackdaw tells the story of Jackson-Cohenâs Jack Dawson, a former motocross champion and army veteran who, in an effort to support his younger brother, agrees to pick up a mysterious package in the North Sea, only to find himself tricked and his brother kidnapped. Subsequently, Jackdaw â as heâs better known â embarks on a one-night, breakneck journey through Northern Englandâs rust belt on his bike, reconnecting with his past as the subtleties in his complex backstory and familial history slowly unravel against a backdrop of nail-biting action.
The nuanced portrayal of such a character could possibly only be achieved by Jackson-Cohen, who seamlessly masters the art of tuning into his characterâs psyche. Since a childhood trip to see Home Alone in the cinema, the 36-year-old has been fascinated by the possibility of disappearing into someone elseâs world and delving into their stories. Subsequently booking his first job at 15 years old, the London native has spent the past decade and a half immersed in alternate worlds, from the horrors of 2018âs The Haunting of Hill House and 2020âs The Invisible Man to the post-WWII reality of Man in an Orange Shirt and the 19th-century Yorkshire of last yearâs Emma Mackie-led, Emily. He mentions twice in our chat that at this point in his journey, he feels âlike 150 years oldâ, and itâs hard to be surprised. Between time-travelling, fronting countless stories and embodying dozens of different people, heâs lived many lives.  âI always think it's quite funny that this passion was born as a kid and here I am as an adult doing it,â he laughs. âI do sometimes think: âIs that the smartest fucking thing?â Because when you're a kid, you have all of these ideas and they're not the smartest ones.â
Though some of his childhood plays (written and directed by him and his friends) may have had âzero plotâ, as Jackson-Cohen tells me, and it took him a bit of time in his early twenties to figure out the projects that would resonate with him, it is safe to say that his childhood dream was definitely not a bad idea. âI think with any passion that stems from childhood, the drive is so insane. I think with anything creative, you have to have this insane determination, regardless of where it stems from. It's just this weird drive forward that you kind of can't stop.â He pauses. âI feel like I've had many iterations of a career. I look back at the stuff I was doing in my early twenties and it was very much what I was told to be doing. I think it takes time to make mistakes and learn from those to actually find out what it is that resonates with you. Ultimately, I think it probably has something to do with exploring something that I'm not looking at in myself and being able to unlock that, to explore that with a character.â
Hearing this, it is easy to see why the Jackdaw lead would be a perfect fit for the role. However, he didnât originally believe the part should be his. âI'd met Jamie Childs on a job I was on before and we got to know each other genuinely,â he explains. âHe started to talk to me about this idea, this script that he was writing and when he was finished, he called me up and asked if Iâd read it. Then he went, âWill you play Jackdaw?â And I immediately said, âJamie, I don't think I'm the right person for that. Do you know who you should hire? You should hire this person.â And he was like, âNo.â And I was like, âNo, do you know what? You should hire this person...â And I kept throwing ideas at him.â Eventually, perhaps after exhausting every other option for Childs, the actor agreed and dove headfirst into the lead, making it implausible that his alternative suggestion could have embodied it so definitively.
âI feel like all of us jumped in because of our belief in Jamie,â he says. âAnd I think to have your protagonist be someone that is flawed and vulnerable and not your [stereotypical] sort of action hero was such a clever move on his end. It just felt like nothing I'd ever been a part of before. And there was something in that script about someone feeling like there isn't a place where they belong and being thrown into a position of having to care for someone and the tragedy that's gone on with their mum⊠all of that became a really interesting thing to play around with.â
Building out a characterâs story is one of the most exciting parts of the job for Jackson-Cohen. With Jackdaw, this meant lots of meetings and discussions with Childs and co-star Jenna Coleman, who plays his love interest, Bo. âWe sat down and hashed out when they were together and how long they were together and what happened and when the last time they saw each other was,â he says. âI think whatâs so clever with Jamie is that he doesn't really over-explain, but he drops these pebbles as you go. And I think they're quite effective. Itâs like, you know Jack's been away in the army. You don't really know why, but whatever it was, it wasn't good. So it was trying to figure out, 'okay, what was it?' And I don't think you necessarily see it on screen, but for me, my favourite part of it is trying to write out a life for them.â
For Jackson-Cohen, with any story he portrays, getting into character isnât necessarily about becoming someone else. Rather, itâs about tapping into whatâs already within him. âItâs like when you're in a music studio,â he says. âYou've got all those dials and it's about turning something up that exists within you that you don't necessarily tap into and turning certain other things down. It's all coming from you.â
âIn real life, I rarely get emotional, and I think it's because I have this outlet,â he continues. âThere's this space where you can go and it's safe to experience and feel all of this stuff. Itâs this weird, playful safety bubble that you get to go off to and play around where, ultimately, itâs real in the moment, but it's not real in your life.â
However, sometimes his body doesnât register the difference between his own experiences and those of his character. âI played a character in the past who was a heroin addict and that was really hard [to get out of] because you are left with this inherent heaviness of all the stuff that you've created and felt in your head,â he explains. âOr earlier this year, I did a film set around the beginning of the Holocaust. And so youâd come home at the end of the day and youâd know it's not real, but your body can't really tell the difference. So you get these weird sort of hangovers if it's incredibly heavy and emotional. You know it's not real, but your body's playing catch up.â
âThe older I get, the more embarrassed I get to say that this is my job because it's such a fucking stupid job. But also, I absolutely love it.â He laughs. âI feel so unbelievably grateful that I get to do this as a job. I always eye-roll when actors say things like, âOh, it's such a privilege,â but I do feel incredibly grateful because I get to go off and explore these parts of humanity that I would never otherwise.â
While he might endeavour to plot out the history of his characters, Jackson-Cohenâs very much letting his own future write itself. âPart of the exciting thing about being an actor is that you don't really know what's going to come in or what you're going to read that's going to excite you. I want to be surprised. I'd love to work here, in small filmmaking, with first-time directors, telling stories that people may love or hate, anything that's trying to say something a little different.â He pauses. âBut until I read it, I won't know.â
Jackdaw is out in UK cinemas now and Wilderness is available to watch on Prime Video!

Do you have any dark gothic/horror book recs? Iâm trying to get out of thrillers at the moment. also looking for some dark classics. any ideas?
I was waiting to answer this until after the Bella's Book Club summer reading reclist went live and now it's live!! and I must say, full of some Choice gothic recs. But I'll list my personal faves here!
Darkâą things from my part of the BBC reclist:
Jamaica Inn (and My Cousin Rachel) by Daphne du Maurier - iirc I described Jamaica Inn as gothic + adventure in my recs, and yep, that's what it is. definitely part of the specific "the book cover shows a woman in a nightgown running from a scary building" gothic heroine tradition. I also gave a brief nod to My Cousin Rachel because it's another of du Maurier's works which I think is underrated (that one's more of a slow-burning gothic mystery featuring a hero of the 'little wet babygirl' variety.)
Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno Garcia - Also as I said in my recs, it's very like Jamaica Inn in structure and genre, though of course the writing, the specific characters, and the central mysteries are different. But MG is (of course) Mexican and has more fun Get Out/Ready or Not vibes with its themes of class and ethnicity.
Girls Running from Houses by tanaudel on redbubble
Perfume: the Story of a Murderer by Patrick Suskind - Villain protagonist villain protagonist! This one I love mostly for its flowery prose and sheer aesthetic commitment. You're telling me this 18th-century French serial killer turns his victims into perfume?? Say more
The Monstrumologist by Rick Yancey - Seriously the most underrated YA series of all time. Also so gory and terrifying I sometimes cannot believe it's YA. To this day some of the scariest written horror my eyes have beheld, not to mention it's got banger prose. Most people know Rick Yancey from The 5th Wave which is such bland cookiecutter 2010s YA dystopia love triangle nonsense that I just want to shake everyone and go NO, READ THIS BRILLIANCE INSTEAD! ngl the last book in the series is Not Good (you can 100% tell he had switched all his energies to 5th Wave, which is a shame) but the first 3 are absolutely good enough to make up for it.
Other people's reclist recs that I too have read and enjoyed: Rebecca (Daphne du Maurier), We Have Always Lived in the Castle (Shirley Jackson), Dracula (Bram Stoker), Frankenstein (Mary Shelley)
More classics: The Turn of the Screw by Henry James (short and easy read!), The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde (a must-read for aesthete gays everywhere. I mean cmon it's Oscar)
Extremely melodramatic "classics:' I loved reading Louisa May Alcott's little known "flops" A Long Fatal Love Chase and Behind a Mask (short story collection.) I might make Book Club read Love Chase at some point because I think we'd have way too much fun with it. We'll see.
My personal favorite that I think everyone should read: The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter (short story collection of gothic fairytale retellings!)
Not exactly what you think of when you hear 'gothic' per se but definitely Dark and it's my OTHER favorite: Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer (I never shut up about this book and it's for a reason. Very different from the movie, which I also love!)
My favorite gothic/horror authors:
Shirley Jackson - I've definitely talked about her before but both The Haunting of Hill House and We Have Always Lived in the Castle are straight bangers (and short, easy reads to boot!) Do NOT think you can watch the Mike Fl*nagan Hill House show of the same name and call it a dayâthey're completely different stories. (also let the record show I'm censoring his name out of personal dislike he hasn't done anything 'problematic' afaik calm down)
Stephen Graham Jones - Insanely good writing oh my god. I have so far only read the My Heart is a Chainsaw books but his entire oeuvre is on my TBR because he cannot lose. Also he lives in my town and I'm starstruck just knowing this fact. Indigenous (Blackfoot) author who writes about indigenous characters!
Kelly Link - Writer of banger short fiction. I particularly enjoy Pretty Monsters because it's 100% written for the Twilight girlies and clearly made with love and silliness
Grady Hendrix - I didn't loooove Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires, but I adored Hörrorstör and especially My Best Friend's Exorcism, which is a total masterpiece IMO. Another writer whose entire oeuvre is on my TBR.

Lena strolled into the bookstore and spotted Maya at the counter, her heart beating a little faster as she approached. Maya's warm smile greeted her, and Lena felt a sudden rush of affection for the girl behind the counter. She couldn't help but feel a little jittery as she asked for Maya's help in finding a new book to read. "Hey, Maya! How's it going?" Lena asked with a grin. "Hey, Lena! I'm doing well, thanks. How about you?" Maya replied. "I'm good, thanks. Any spooky books you'd recommend?" Lena asked. Maya's eyes lit up at the question. "Actually, I just finished reading 'The Haunting of Hill House' by Shirley Jackson. It's really creepy and well-written. You should give it a go," she suggested. "Ooh, I've heard about that one before. I'll definitely add it to my list," Lena said, feeling grateful for Maya's recommendation. "It's a classic for a reason. You won't regret it," Maya promised, her eyes twinkling with excitement. Lena couldn't help but smile at Maya's enthusiasm. She knew she had to ask her out, but the thought made her feel a little nervous. What if Maya wasn't interested? What if she had misread the signals? "Hey, Maya. Want to grab coffee sometime?" Lena asked, feeling a bit jittery. Maya's face lit up. "Yes, please! How about we check out that new coffee shop down the street?" Lena grinned, feeling giddy with excitement. "Sounds perfect. I can't wait!" She felt a sudden surge of confidence and leaned in to give Maya a hug. As they parted, Lena felt a rush of emotions coursing through her. She couldn't believe that Maya had said yes, and she felt a sense of hope for the future. Perhaps this was the start of something special. Lena couldn't wait to find out. A few days later, Lena and Maya met up at the coffee shop. Lena arrived a few minutes early, fidgeting with her phone nervously as she waited for Maya. She had picked out her outfit carefully, wanting to make a good impression. When Maya walked in, Lena's heart skipped a beat. She looked stunning in a casual outfit and a light layer of makeup. "Hey, Lena! Sorry I'm a little late," Maya said, flashing her signature smile. "No worries at all," Lena replied, trying to sound calm even though her heart was racing. They ordered their drinks and found a table to sit at. Lena was a little nervous at first, but she quickly found herself relaxing as they chatted about their favorite books and movies. They had a lot in common, and Lena felt a sense of connection growing between them. As they finished their drinks, Lena worked up the courage to ask Maya out on a proper date. "Hey, Maya. I know we just met, but I really enjoy spending time with you. Would you like to go on a date with me sometime?" she asked, holding her breath. Maya's face lit up. "I'd love to, Lena. How about we go to the movies this weekend?" Lena felt a surge of excitement. "That sounds perfect!" she said, grinning from ear to ear. Over the next few weeks, Lena and Maya went on several dates. They explored the city together, visited museums and art galleries, and watched movies at home. Lena felt like she was living in a dream. She had never felt this way about anyone before, and she couldn't believe how lucky she was to have met Maya. One evening, as they were cuddled up on the couch watching a movie, Lena turned to Maya and whispered, "I love you." Maya's eyes widened in surprise, but then she smiled. "I love you too, Lena," she said, wrapping her arms around Lena's waist. From that moment on, Lena knew that Maya was the one for her. They continued to date and explore the world together, building a life that was filled with love, laughter, and adventure. And Lena knew that the day she walked into that bookstore and met Maya was the luckiest day of her life.

question but are there any horror charas u hc as autistic and if so which ones? just thought itd be an interesting question
Oh my god, this might be the greatest question I've ever been asked!!!! Thank you!!! There's definitely a few:
Randy Meeks from Scream is absolutely autistic to me. Bringing up horror movies and their rules so often is something I have done on multiple occasions too. So he's just like me and we're both autistic and love horror movies!
When I was rewatching the first Scream, I also thought Dewey has some autistic swag. But I definitely feel a lot stronger about Randy being autistic.
Herbert West from Reanimator. This one feels almost canon to me. The movies definitely portray him with a lot of autistic traits!
Carrie. Killing everyone in the room with powers is exactly what I feel like doing after a big social event irl. Okay, obviously a lot of her character is more connected with how overly religious and abusive her mother is and not autism. So it's not like the strongest hc, but still there for me
It's been a very long time since I've watched May and I definitely need to rewatch it, but from what I remember she's quite autistic too.
Pearl! 100% autistic to me. I can't even really explain it fully, but when I watched Pearl it was just there. She's autistic!
The Loneliest Boy in the World is like barely a horror movie, but Oliver is autistic.
I also remember having a hc that Theo from The Haunting of Hill House show is autistic. Autistic and a lesbian - just like me fr! (I'm definitely just projecting)
Speaking of autistic lesbians, Amanda Young. (I'm projecting again). I feel like no one in the Saw franchise is neurotypical tbh. (Maybe Logan, but that's just because I don't like him)
Also not technically a horror movie, but Norman from Paranorman is autistic (if you haven't seen Paranorman, highly recommend it. It's a kids movie, but it's like horror for kids. It's a great movie!)
Those are like the main ones I have. Would love to hear if you have any! Also I should probably send you horror asks more often.
Thank you again for the question!!!!!

You should watch the Haunting of Bly Manor on Netflix if you havenât already. Kind of a ghost story but one of the main plot points is a lesbian love affair between two of the main characters in 1980s rural England. Itâs so good.
Trust me I would love to, but I am kinda scared. I watched the Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass which are made by the same person I believe? Anyway ghost stories are scary for me. I'm not really a scary movie or show person. Both of those other shows left me with nightmares for a while đđđ
But I'll definitely think about it since my tolerance has grown a bit.
Thanks for the recommendation anon! Have a lovely day âșđ

OKAY FINISHED THE LAST TWO EPISODES OF THE BEAR SEASON 1!! you KNOW by now that I have thoughts and that I will now say these thoughts!
episode 7 being one big long take is my favourite thing about it by far. like it really adds to the intensity and makes the spiral downwards into anger and chaos even more natural. I LOVE when tv shows do these long takes!! the two others that come to mind are ep. 6 of Haunting of Hill House and 4.03 of Succession. those two and this episode of The Bear are top three television episodes of all time hands down!!!
it was really interesting to see how carmyâs behaviour affected sydneyâs behaviour as well, like him being so pissed and disrespectful to her made her be that way to tina who literally said like âwoah chef this isnât your style whatâs upâ
I do think she fucked up with the short ribs and with the ordering system thing, but everyone else in the show has fucked up and she definitely did not deserved to be treated like that. same thing with marcus really. like ya he should have been on the ball! but that doesnât mean he deserved that or that carmy was being constructive in any way, because he wasnât.
also marcus was hyperfixated on his donuts and they expect me not to say autistic coded?? they expect me not to start rolling out headcanons? bffr writers! I love marcus omg heâs the best
carmy saying he was trying to fix the restaurant as a way of fixing his relationship with his dead brother I WASNâT PLAYING WHEN I SAID THIS WAS A SHOW ABOUT HOW TO PIECE BROKEN THINGS BACK TOGETHER NOW WAS I âŒïž Iâm simply prophetic and accurate I canât help it
richie getting stabbed in the ass was not on my bing card but I giggled so hard
I LOVE YOU DUDE. LET IT RIP. nuh uh, yâall, Iâm done. fuck you all for enticing me to watch this goddamn show đ
ok Iâm not gonna lie the way sydney was always looking down when talking to marcus at her house but she made full intense eye contact with carmy when she came back⊠the look in his eyes⊠canon means nothing to me if that isnât true love!!
Unfortunately the creators of this show must hate Canada or something because season 2 ISNâT FUCKING AVAILABLE YET TO US HOSERS so⊠Iâll see yâall whenever it does drop for me I guess đ gonna like all the spoilers though idgaf I canât wait!!

31 Days of Horror Movies (?/31)
I WANT TO DEDICATE WAY TOO MUCH TIME TO HORROR, FUCK YOUR MOVIES, LET'S TALK TV
Okay, I know I said horror movies, but media would have been over-reaching (I'm not talking about video games or books, though do check out the Shining, it's amazing). And I'm not sure if there's any word that encompasses both movie and tv. (Watch, one of you assholes (affectionate) will tell me within 5 mins of me posting this.) But, I'm going to list some tv anyway, because it's my list and you can't stop me.
Inside No. 9: An anthology series in which each episode is a self-contained story and the genres range from drama to comedy to dark comedy to horror to black comedy. ... As with any other anthology that exists, there are going to be episodes you love, episodes you hate, and episodes that fall everywhere in-between. Most of the eps, for me, fall at least into the "like" category which is how it made this list. With only 6 eps per season and 2 specials, with each ep running 30 mins, for a tv show it's not a huge time commitment.
American Horror Story: Asylum: The second season of AHS follows the stories of "patients" and staff at an asylum in 1964. ... I made myself go with only one season of AHS and it was a no brainer that it'd be this one. The writers had really hit their stride with this one but weren't yet bogged down by all that had come before it (which was only one season). The characters are some of the best characters that have ever been written or acted in the series and the stories are some if its tightest. It's worth noting, though, that AHS is infamous for, as I put it, throwing everything including the kitchen sink into a story and this season is no exception.
The Haunting of Hill House: A fractured family confronts haunting memories of their old home and the terrifying events that drove them from it. ... If there's one show that you decide to give a try, this is the show you should watch. Some of the tightest writing I've ever experienced, amazingly acted, absolutely gorgeous character work, and the sixth episode, Two Storms, to this day takes my breath away. Definitely top 5 best tv shows I've ever watched. There is also another series from the same writer, The Haunting of Bly Manor, which is nowhere near as good but as some really amazing moments.
The Last of Us: A man must help a young teen girl get across a fungal-zombie filled United States. ... Man, if you'd told me that there'd be a zombie tv series on this list before I watched this series, I would have raised a very skeptical eyebrow at you. I tend to find zombies somewhat boring, all the survivors are always depressingly horrible to each other, and a tv show is long form which means that these two things are usually drawn out awfully long. But this show does it all right. The writing is amazingly tight, the character and relationships are great, the emotions are there and feel real and meaningful, and my only major complaint is a grudging one because this show is literally so well-written there's no way to change it without ruining the tightness of the script. So, insert "I guess" meme here.
#geeky talks#yeah i know that i put both dark comedy and black comedy when describing inside no 9#they are related but very different types of comedy#like the very first ep of the show is something that i would definitely call black comedy not dark comedy#if you're interested in other seasons of ahs#i'd recommend murder house (the first season)#and if you like found footage then raonoke (sxith season)#i wish i could recommend tales from the crypt#but besides the amazing practical effects#there's not really much to recommend from the show#the fact that the last of us is so good and is also based on a video game#which let's face it are notorious for putting out bad adaptations#is just cherry on top of the already damn delicious cake#31 days of horror recs

today i want to post for you guys the evolving list of my favorite genre: unconventionally haunted places (usually houses but it can vary)
yes this came from the fact that my favorite standalone book is house of leaves, but also from the fact that this is a subject that KEEPS SHOWING UP for me
also I could probably narrow this down but I don't feel like it rn
* - things I haven't actually read/watched/played yet
BOOKS:
house of leaves
the haunting of hill house
*the shining
*you should have left.
the dead girls of hysteria hall
MOVIES/SHOWS:
the haunting of hill house
the shining
rose red
monster house
* skinamarink
GAMES (this is where it gets wiggly):
anatomy
myhouse.wad
control
what remains of edith finch (stretching it a bit)
echo vn (this but like. a whole town)
my idea of what a badass resident evil game would be, which is where a dwelling itself is the antagonist rather than a monster. idk if the franchise has done this yet or if this idea is insane
OTHER MEDIA:
the magnus archives (stretching the definition for the house on hilltop road and the magnus institute/tunnels, might not actually fit but I love it and it's my list)
cape escape
if anyone wants to suggest other media and explain why it fits, feel free to do so
