Tron calling Beck his friend in identity always gets me like

He's about to lose Beck, the memory loss is progressing and Beck's holding the baton to his face, but he has to trust that Beck can come back from it because that's who Beck is, and at his core, he wants to do the right thing and save as many as he can

and the way Tron closes his eyes when he says "we are friends" and the relief in his voice, because he has lost so many, and he didn't want to admit that they were friends, that he cared about Beck, because it's about more than the Uprising, despite what he's been trying to convince himself, Beck is not just his protege, not just the next Tron, not just the Renegade, Beck is his friend and Tron cares about who he is as a person, and fading memories can't take that away

And having seen his other friends and companions being rectified and turn on him, it's happening again (except there's hope and faith and trust for the first time in a long time), but this time he hasn't even told Beck how much he cares. He hasn't said it back

Fun little (little?) doodle of the two blorbos from the two fandoms that have had the biggest fucking impact on my life on/off-line. It's also been way too fucking long since I did a serious doodle of Tron in his Tron Betrayal/Legacy suit and good god, I forgot how fucking ridiculous that goddamn fucking jumpsuit is, but I'm a sucker for lights and lighting up those circuits made me too fucking happy.

I'm not gonna look too deep into how weirdly similar they both are when Tron rezzes his helmet on. Nobody look too deep into this kthnx.

Ok, so not able to really go deep into it right now after a long day at work, but I started thinking about a Tron coming to AFTER being Rinzler & getting time to think on all the horrible things he's done as Rinz & how post-Rinz Tron turns into a terrible gloomy presence, a new type of unbeatable monster, impossibly afflicted by all the pain he's caused & deaths he's wrought. A Tron that's so ashamed of what he's done, he turns into a different sort of disaster from what he was at Rinz, one that no longer can be the rescuer but one who needs to be rescued from himself & lost all agency in fear of harming anyone else again. Reminded that he is not only to blame for all those he lost to his own fiendish ways, but for all the terrible things he's done.

The hero needing his own rescuing, but made of claws & fangs, lashing out at anyone that dare take another step his way & risk his harm or dare consider a monster like him deserves an ounce of kindness at all.

One who's desperately in need of saving but thinks he himself unwanted, undeserving, and the more he isolates himself & less he thinks of himself, the more he devolves into something else entirely...

Biting & growling & retreating into a state that can't be held at bay, a malignant form toxifying the corner of the Grid he makes his home, poisoning & killing everything in a radius of self hatred or uh. Something like that.

Tron likes to sneak up on people and scare them. Like hiding around corners and showing up behind people.

Was looking at clips of Uprising(again) and when he pops up to talk to Able, he always surprises him. Like, turn around see him and wonder if you'll die for a second, but no it's just Tron.

He likes to scare his friends. He's a security monitor so I'm sure he's more than capable, and he thinks it's funny. He won't laugh or smile, but his shoulder shake just slightly.

He does the same thing to Beck, but justifies it and calls it training. They both know he just likes to scare him a bit. As Beck gets better, sometimes he just pretends not to notice. Beck attempts to sneak up on Tron, but it rarely works. Tron's happy because it's the first time someone has done it back.

It's a sign of affection because he is genuinely scary. Tall, strong, and more than capable of killing most programs. If he scares you, it's because he trusts that you know he would never actually hurt you.

Flynn hated this btw. Not genuinely, but he got way too many scares since he was closest to Tron. It's endearing in the I don't know why you're like this way. During his exile, Quorra would sometimes sneak up on him. It made him nostalgic, man, he really misses Tron.

Clu hated this, genuinely. He's the system admin, why would Tron try to scare him? It also reminded him that Tron would always be the better fighter. As Clu and Tron drifted apart, he stopped scaring Clu. There's an odd part of him that misses it.

Rinzler doesn't do this, not on purpose. By accident he'll still sneak up on people. He's not sure whether or not he enjoys their fear.

Tronzler doesn't do this, until much later. By accident, he'll sneak up, but it just reminds him of all the things he did. It takes a lot of healing for him to start scaring people for fun again.

Bonus:

Yori thinks it's funny. Since they were counterparts, she always had some sense of him. He can't completely sneak up on her, so he had to get creative. He'd follow her around, wait until she got impatient to see him, and then he'd pop out of some weird place no one knew he could get too.

Ram loves it. Yeah it's a little scary but Tron would never really hurt him. And besides, it's fun to wonder where he'll appear next. It's nice getting visited by his friend. He likes to rate how scared he gets, on a scale from 1-10. Tron is always aiming for 8, just enough to scare but not enough to genuinely distress someone. Unfortunately, since Ram enjoys getting scared, it's hard to hit above a 6.
