On a typical day, you and Jason split tasks equally. Despite his rampant life of crime outside on the city streets of Gotham, he was still very domestic and responsible when back at your place. You would usually cook a nice dinner to share - He’d sweep the floors - And you’d always take a romantic hot shower together afterwards.

Despite your combined efforts, not everything remained completely equilibrated. You knew he was at a disadvantage… and you would be lying if you said you weren’t worried sick every day and night when he parts. Your stress was only fortified when he came home late one day with a sprained ankle!

“Jason… You need to rest, okay? I’m not letting you out the house like this. Please.” His eyebrows furrowed, a pain clenching his heart at your worry. “Okay- okay.” He nods reluctantly, hugging you.

You took extra care of him that night just to make sure; making his favourite food, doing all his laundry, cleaning the bathroom and kitchen, etc. You didn’t mind it, in fact, you liked taking care of Jason. He ushered you into bed afterwards, though.

Yet as the days continued on, more and more tasks got lifted onto your shoulders simultaneously. Even after Jason was forced to relax (reluctantly… the task of convincing him to stay in bed was probably the hardest of all), you still ran around the apartment. More papers you had to write, more errands you had to run, and more tasks you had to complete for Jason’s health and wellbeing piled up in the matter of hours and days.

You were currently finishing up an extra load of landry, packing your towels into the broom cupboard. Shit! You had forgotten to make dinner, too! Your gaze shifts towards the stove top, the time reading half past eight. You contemplate on what to make, and if you even wanted to make it in the first place. But then again, Jason… He was still recovering, and needed to build his strength back up. It’d be best if you made something small— You could have the leftovers.

You rush back into your shared bedroom to ask what he was up for, noticing quickly that he was already seated up on the bed— waiting for you in a manner. “You know you don’t have to do all this shit, babe, right?” You pause, standing in the doorway.

“Sorry?” Jason pauses, before starting up again. “This- I mean, you’re killing your self here, hon. You’re gonna’ work yourself to death doing too much for me. I’ve been seeing you run around all day.” You frown, taking a second to look back on everything. Sure, it’d been stressful, but you were just trying to help him, is all. After a second you walk over, sitting next to your lover on the duvet. His expression was evidently worried— Eyes flashing with love as he put a comforting hand on your knee.

“I’m just trying to help, Jay-” You explain, not really knowing how to put it into words, or even what to say for that matter. You just wanted to be a good, responsible girlfriend. “I know, I know, but you gotta relax too, yeah? If you managed to convince me to rest, then I sure as hell can convince you too.”

A chuckle almost immediately escaped your lips, and you nod after understanding his words. “This isn’t about some domestic shit, is it?” You pause, thinking. Maybe it was… again, you just wanted to take care of your boyfriend. Cleaning, cooking— They were common tasks, but still. On top of all that extra work, it was practically impossible to complete alone, let alone stay in a healthy mindset while running around.

He had to be right after all… plus, cuddling in bed sounded nice for the both of you right now. “Let’s order out, then watch a movie, okay?” You try to protest, but Jason had already pulled you into a kiss.

The party was in full swing, music thumping loud enough to rattle the windows, red Solo cups everywhere. You weaved through the throng of people, trying to keep up with JJ as he stopped every five seconds to fist-bump someone, down a beer, or laugh obnoxiously at some inside joke with his frat brothers.

“JJ,” you tugged on his arm, leaning closer so he could hear you. “Can we just hang out for a bit? Alone?”

He grinned at you, but his eyes darted to the pong table across the room. “Just a sec, babe. Gotta crush Pete and Logan real quick. I’ll find you after, okay?”

Before you could respond, he was gone, swept up in the chaos of his fraternity’s party. You exhaled sharply, annoyance bubbling in your chest. Rolling your eyes, you spun around and headed toward your friend, Riley, who was standing near the kitchen.

“JJ ditch you for his bros again?” Riley teased, handing you a fresh drink.

“Shocker, right?” you muttered, taking a sip.

As the two of you talked, a guy wearing a sweatshirt with the logo of JJ’s rival frat strolled up to you, a cocky grin plastered across his face. “Hey, haven’t seen you around here before. You a Chi Alpha girl?”

You raised an eyebrow. “Nope. Just here for the beer pong champion who’s too busy to hang out with me.”

“Ah, classic Delta Nu. They’re always like that,” he said, leaning a little too close. “Maybe you need someone who actually pays attention to you.”

Before you could respond, you heard a familiar voice cut through the music. “Hey, buddy, back off.”

You turned to see JJ storming over, jaw tight and eyes blazing. He shoved the guy back a step, beer sloshing out of the guy’s cup.

“Seriously, JJ?” you snapped, folding your arms.

“He was hitting on you,” JJ said, glaring at the guy.

“Maybe if you weren’t too busy for me, I wouldn’t have to entertain myself!” you shot back.

The guy smirked, clearly enjoying the drama. “Looks like you’ve got some issues to work out, man.”

That was the wrong thing to say. JJ lunged at him, but a few of his brothers grabbed his arms, pulling him back. “Not worth it, bro,” one of them muttered.

JJ huffed, clearly still fuming. He turned back to you, and before you could protest, he grabbed you by the waist and threw you over his shoulder like you weighed nothing.

“JJ! Put me down!” you shouted, pounding your fists on his back.

“Nope. You’re coming with me,” he said, ignoring your protests as he carried you up the stairs to his room.

Once inside, he kicked the door shut and set you down on his bed. “Alright, princess, let’s talk.”

You crossed your arms, still fuming. “Talk? Now you want to talk?”

He stepped closer, his hands on either side of your hips. “I’m sorry, okay? I was being an idiot.”

“Yeah, you were,” you said, turning your head when he leaned in to kiss you.

JJ chuckled, clearly amused by your defiance. “Oh, you’re mad mad, huh?”

“Gee, what gave it away?” you deadpanned.

He cupped your face, forcing you to look at him. “I’m really sorry, babe. Let me make it up to you.”

“How?” you asked skeptically, raising an eyebrow.

His lips crashed into yours before you could say anything else. At first, you resisted, but his hand slid down to your waist, pulling you flush against him as his tongue grazed your bottom lip. You couldn’t help the soft gasp that escaped, and he took full advantage, deepening the kiss until your frustration began to melt.

When he pulled back, his lips brushed against your jaw as he murmured, “I’ve been a shitty boyfriend tonight, but let me show you how much I hate when you’re mad at me.”

You swallowed, your annoyance quickly giving way to something else entirely. “This better be good, JJ.”

He smirked, his voice low as he trailed kisses down your neck. “Oh, babe, you won’t be thinking about anyone else by the time I’m done.”

After Jon and Sansa reunion scene, they talk and I loved most things about this: Sansa wearing borrowed furs, sharing memories of Old Nan’s pies, the soft soft soft glances, the iconic “where will we go.” Basically the only thing I hated about that scene was when Sansa was like, forgive me to Jon and it hinges on that assumption that she was a bully to Jon when NOTHING in the books says she was a bully and it also made watchers assume that there was a hostile childhood relationship in showverse.

In books: Like, Sansa and Arya insulted each other. Arya is just as disparaging to Sansa.

Robb is the one that gets angry (as kids) at Jon:

That morning he called it first. "I'm Lord of Winterfell!" he cried, as he had a hundred times before. Only this time, this time, Robb had answered, “You can't be Lord of Winterfell, you're bastard-born. My lady mother says you can't ever be the Lord of Winterfell."

He missed the girls too, even Sansa, who never called him anything but "my half brother" since she was old enough to understand what bastard meant.

Like she even gets hate for this by the fandom. How is she worse for calling him half-brother when 1. It’s the truth as they know it then. 2. She’s actually kinder to Jon than her status deems she has to be. 3. There’s a glorification of rest of the Stark children (lol Robb, Arya, Bran) for ignoring class unlike Sansa— when actually they don’t. Their class privilege shows up in other ways (Arya with Mycah. Bran with Hodor. Robb literally gets murdered after messing up politically.)

4. They’re all children.

But somehow Sansa is ever the lightning rod of misogynist hate in this fandom so she’s the villain and bully when every other Stark is as flawed as she is.

Oh. And like Jon’s a bully too as a kid if you wanna interpret everything they do as kids and freakin hold that against then as adults. He disguised himself as a ghost to scare the other kids, Sansa runs away screaming.

After he gives Needle to Arya, they both say “Don’t tell Sansa!” so yeah she’s likely a tattletale bc she likes rules but also, well Jon gave Arya a weapon and she later kills a boy with it. Like, you can also say that Sansa is being isolated amongst her own siblings which I think is also interesting bc personality wise she’s a quiet Ned while Robb is like Brandon, Arya like Lyanna and Bran stands in for younger bro Benjen.

So yeah, Sansa has no reason to apologize to Jon not really.

Although the Stark sisters gotta apologize to each other. But not like the stupid drama Arya implies she’ll kill her own sister to become Lady of Winterfell haha jkjk it’s just to hide killing LF but D&D’s show gotta bank on shock value first.

Friendly reminder that Sansa never bullied Jon in the books or the show. She never treated him poorly or discriminated against him for being a bastard.

In the books, Sansa is observant enough to (correctly) identify Jon’s distaste of Joffrey as jealousy and expresses genuine compassion for him.

In the show, Sansa apologizes to Jon as part of her “Sansa Unnecessarily Apologizing To Men” Train, but we never actually saw her being “awful” to him. Not once.

The only people who treated Jon badly for being a bastard were Catelyn, Theon, and Robb. Robb is literally the only Stark sibling who ever called Jon “bastard” as an insult, not Sansa.

you laugh, soft and low, and toss a pillow at him. it bounces off his knee, and he finally looks up, his eyes flicking to you with that sharp, unreadable expression he gets when he’s deciding whether to play along.

"maybe i’m just irresistible," you tease with an ironically innocent smirk on your lips, shifting your legs to cross them slowly, deliberately.

"yeah," he scoffs sarcastically. "that’s gotta be it." his voice is deadpan, but there’s a spark in his eyes now.

you stand and saunter over to him, deliberately slow, letting your fingers trail along the back of his chair as you circle him. "you’re such a liar, matt. you’re so into me."

he laughs and rolls his eyes, but when you lean down and brush your lips against his ear, just barely, you hear his breath catch.

"the fuck are you doing?" he asks, his tone even, but there’s something underneath it now—something taut.

"just seeing how far i can push you," you whisper, your hand grazing his arm.

his fingers twitch, and for a second, you think you’ve won. but then he tilts his head, his mouth curling into the kind of smirk that makes your stomach flip.

"you really think you’re that dangerous?" he murmurs, turning to face you fully now. his voice is lower, softer, like he’s meeting you in the middle of your own game.

"i know i am." your heart’s beating a little faster now, but you hold your ground, leaning closer.

he doesn’t pull away. in fact, he leans in, too, his eyes dropping briefly to your lips. your breath hitches, and you can feel the heat between you, the way the air seems to thrum with anticipation.

then, just when you’re sure he’s about to close the gap, he stops.

"look at you, thinkin' you're in control," he says, his voice dripping with amusement. "hah," he scoffs, smirking teasingly at you.

you blink, thrown, and that’s when he shifts back, putting just enough distance between you to leave you hanging.

"almost got me kid," he says, his smirk widening as he picks up his book again. "almost."

your mouth opens, trying to come up with a snarky remark, but no words come out. you just stand there, stunned, as he flips a page like nothing happened.

"now, sit back down before you make yourself look stupid yet again," he says without looking up, brushing you away with a gesture of his hand.

with my phantom hourglass replay, there are two things i noticed;

a possible theme you could glean from the game is action vs inaction, and i think it's especially prevalent before you even leave mercay the first time, with oshus frequently urging link to not go after the ghost ship, then to just wait until the broken bridge is fixed, and seems reluctant at every turn while link and ciela are more than eager to go and do something about this problem, and the people of mercay in general talking about things and their problems but never seeming to act on their fears or desires, as well as the mention that due to the ghost ship, very very few people are still sailing around, while linebeck is one of the only people we see in the game actively going after the ghost ship and still sailing around. i might make a longer post just talking more about the action vs inaction in phantom hourglass but i just noticed it a bit and thought it was a bit of an interesting sort of theme you could find in the game.

linebeck moves so fucking much. i think he moves more than any npc in the rest of the game. not just in his intro cutscene where he is very animated, just in how much he moves when just standing in his little idle post, it's damn near distracting when the camera is focused on him, he moves a lot. i don't think i've really acknowledged how much he moves, and it really gives the impression that he's antsy or eager to get going, both of which fit him pretty well with how he acts.

With the attempt to bring harm to Black people who they want to “get out of the way,” because they don’t think that we belong in the same spaces as them while at the same time, believing they should be allowed INTO our spaces and afforded hospitality and a whole red carpet rolled out. The sad thing is, she has connections to the industry because of her uncle and name so what if this was just a random Black woman who worked for Princeton without this kind of protection at all…?

reading springfest now after everything in nagazora is making me crave more fu hua and mei interactions. i feel like thus far in my go through, i've never actually seen them interact, but it's kinda fun that the person who made the recommended reading order put springfest after nagazora (though of course this is probably in preparation for whatevers going on with senti/fu hua rn in ch 19)

but the way that the empyrea isolates herself so she doesn't have any attachment to those who she will outlive and how she winds up becoming lonely as a result threw me back to mei isolating herself in world serpent so that she can protect kiana and just... idk..... i think the two talk about that isolation would be interesting

also. i love fu hua. she's still at the top of my list for best character so i'm just a happy little guy getting more fu hua content now in the story :> yippee fu hua
