Watching real tv is you scrape and claw for character backstory that they made cohesive on accident. Dana Scully!!!

She has this amazing internal drive and is an amazingly strong person, but also thinks that she has a desperate need to prove herself. She keeps her walls up, even when she doesn’t want to. She’s the third child in a family of six with a homemaker mother and a doting, perpetually absent father. She thinks she has daddy issues, and she does, but she never gives herself enough credit. “I want to be praised” girl it’s human to want to be recognized. She struggles with the feeling of cycles, of staying in place, of never really changing. She has this complex that I like to call the “Starbuck complex” (named for her childhood nickname, given to her by her navy captain dad, referring to the first mate in Moby Dick (she called him Ahab the captain from Moby Dick)) where she LOVES to play second fiddle and step up to the batting plate. Mulder forges ahead and she follows him, and she charts their course as they go. He drives, and she has the map in the passenger seat. She LOVES that— when it doesn’t grate at her to not be seen. If Mulder saw her, it would be okay. And he does see her, for who she is, but not always what she needs in their interpersonal relationship. They’ve got issues!!

One of Scully’s earliest memories is that of her hiding a rabbit kit in a metal lunch box after her older overbearing brother Bill says that he’d kill it. Of course, she leaves it in the lunch box, and comes back to find it dead. There’s this innate part of Scully here — the kindness, the protector. I think this is the instance that incited her desire to become a doctor. And there’s this other part of Scully, even while small, who keeps her walls up to protect herself and what she holds dear. She didn’t tell her family about the FBI until she was sure she was doing it. And they disapproved, and she had to go on knowing they did. She never explained her and Mulder’s relationship to her family, who always seem astounded when they display their characteristic normal levels of Mulder-Scully devotion. She keeps her cancer to herself, and learns that it’s okay to reach out to people, but she keeps her walls up because she’s afraid. She’s afraid to believe.

Like the previous example, Scully’s first encounter with morality and the question of who she wanted to be was when she caught and killed a snake in the backyard with her bb gun when she was six. She was playing with her brothers, and was caught up in it, but regretted it immediately after. It spurs her to realize the effects of her actions and consider who she wants to be (and also there’s Catholic guilt in here and Scully’s desire to protect and heal, which is very good). It’s a foundational experience for her.

Thirty years on, she’ll have a snake in the ouroboros tattooed on her lower back. “Everyone gets the tattoo they deserve.”

Dana Scully, physicist, doctor, agent, spends her life searching for the answers of the universe. She comes full circle to find the truth. She wants a normal life, but she doesn’t want your normal life. When considering the paths not taken, had she had a normal life, she says “what I would have missed.” She heads for adventure because she wants to. Reason and faith in harmony. And no matter her self doubt, she knows what she’s about. Reason, faith, justice, truth, love, the greater good, and the pursuit of knowledge in the face of the unknown.

you've been on edge all day or it's felt that way. you'd woken up with this feeling that just would not let go and with each hour that passed it felt as though you had an itch that only your boyfriend could scratch - or at least, it had started like that. but the longer you had ignored it, had thrown yourself into work and then busied yourself with menial house chores, the more aroused you were with an insatiable hunger that simply would not go away.

in a way, you envied the way that other couples could be so open about their wants and desires. were able to voice that they needed attention in ways that couldn't, or shouldn't, be displayed in public. it would have made things so much easier than trying to work out how to say "baby, I need you" in a way that didn't make you feel like cringing and burying your face in the pillow for a very different reason than you wanted. how others managed to use a different tongue for in the bedroom, you'll truly never know.

but as you exit the en-suite, the towel wrapped around your body still and your skin still damp, Jamal takes the opportunity to ask "how tired are you?"

"erm, not that tired I guess?" you reply as you turn your side to him as you begin to pull out clean clothes from the drawers.

custom font colors tutorial

note: this is for my bb @tobaccosunbxrst but also just wanted to post it to public for anyone curious on how to do custom fonts w html on tumblr. i originally made this tutorial privately for my mutual @certainlysyko so apologies for the silly choice of example text that i used lol. anyways.

so as we know, tumblr only has the following default color options for text:

but what if we want some other cool colors like coral pink or cerulean blue or barf green?

to do custom fonts, it’s very simple, but it needs to be done on pc/laptop (cannot be done on app). we are going to start with a post:

then, you’re just gonna change whatever word that you want the custom color for into one of the tumblr defaults. you do this by just selecting the text with your cursor and then tumblr’s default colors pop up. you can change into any of them, this just establishes the code in the html and makes it easy to spot

then you're going to go to the little settings thingy at the top right of the post (the settings wheel) and click on this drop down, then click on "html" which will switch it to html

now it's in html. this looks very simple bc there is only one statement here. i’ll touch on how to deal with more lengthier blocks of html code later. but for now, note this section only:

this is the website i use to find the hex codes. a hex code is basically those codes after the hashtag so like #81AACE (don't forget to input the hashtag)

now, for those lengthier posts i mentioned, you can use ctrl+f and search the word "color". it will show up any place on the post where you have a colored font (so do this after you’ve already changed all the places you want custom colors into default tumblr colors, like in the 1st step)

this way, you can easily find the places with <span blah blah> that you need to edit

Thoughts on Wasp? I like the idea of cats joining that turn out that the Clans aren’t great… but also it feels… weird? Like it seems like another “lazy cat bad” on some levels. I don’t mind him not joining the Clans but these “outsider learns they’re not fit for the Clans” things always give me a pause from the Erins. Also interested in how you would handle him!

Moonkitti's video on him is really well worded, if you haven't seen it yet. I do think he's different from the way that other books tend to portray outsiders in that they are saying that he was driven away by the xenophobia of the Clans... but.

They still make him extremely disinterested in Clan life while he's in ThunderClan. I think that was a massive blunder to write, if the thing they're trying to say is "XENOPHOBIA PREVENTS OTHERWISE ENTHUSIASTIC MIGRATION"

It would have hit harder if it was Wafflepaw who tried to run to RiverClan, got assaulted, and then didn't want to be a Clan cat anymore.

Wafflepaw WANTS to be a warrior. Wasp did not. It reads more like Wasp getting hate crime'd was a "last straw" more than THE reason why he won't stay.

That's where you're getting that vibe they're saying "lazy cat bad," imo. It's a bit different from usual, but it still seems like the narrative is saying that Wasp really didn't belong here anyway.

(no, Nightheart's moment where he looks at the camera and says "he could have been fine!" doesn't change that they showed, in their text, with the actions they wrote, that Wasp was not enjoying being part of the Clans anyway. If that was their intended thesis, their writing was sloppy.)

It feels especially weird that Bee didn't go with Frostpaw. Bee was the character with a lot more setup and that strange dream. A lot of people were confusing Bee and Wasp when the book first came out and I don't blame them.

Most importantly, you can't talk about Wasp without also mentioning one of THE worst lines I think has ever been written into a Warrior Cats book. The part where tigerHeartstar says, "Those cats who just committed a hate crime were perfectly good people before the evil dictator took over. If we kill the evil dictator, I'm sure they'll CHANGE BACK"

I'm still REELING. Fuck you MEAAAN "CHANGE BACK????" CHANGE BACK? LIKE BEING A BIGOT IS UNCOMFORTABLE SHOES???

CHANGE BACK... me bringing my evil dollars up to the villain store and exchanging it for racism coins... change back...

So when I get around to it, I'm going to evaluate if Wasp is even actually necessary in the form he's in. BB is already about xenophobia and bigotry and the harm it does. Frostpaw has no shortage of examples to witness what Thistle Law is, and what it does to those excluded from Clan Culture.

When I first made my Family Tree for RiverClan, I actually ended up making Splashstar's MOM, Havenpelt, an ex-rogue. I think seeing him order a hate crime against his own mother would be a LOT more impactful here, actually.

What Frostpaw DOES need is allies and friends. I'm already starting by expanding her little "DND Party," a word I'm using to affectionately refer to some cats who will be following her home from her pilgrimage to the Park. 99% chance that Nightheart is going to become a permanent member of this party, joining RiverClan at the end of ASC. Waffle will be another. She'll probably also pick up a Tribe cat.

Wasp will be on this party, but I won't decide what happens to them until I see what that last book has in store. Who knows, he might come back (though I hope not, run as far away from these ghouls as possible Wasp!!)

⬦ So, as many asked here is my theory! I've been thinking of this since i read Punk Hazard. Law has never been a pirate for me, nor a marine... so there had to be something in the middle and that is SWORD! Let's discuss the reasons! (Also please, be careful this theory is full of spoilers since I added the last pieces of info given in ch. 1080).

⬦ Disclaimer: Please, if you don't agree with any of the points stated we can discuss them but only if you do it respectfully and calmly. This is just my POV and take on the story. I might be wrong, or not. It doesn't matter, it's just a theory!. If you are gonna use this theory anywhere please ask me first. I'm tired of seeing my stuff on twitter gain endless likes for other to take the credit. So! As I was waiting for the official release of ch. 1080 I didn’t write the theory sooner! I wanted to check if they had change something, especially the Rocky Port incident part! Apparently is all correct so here we go with my reasons for thinking Law is either a marine or a collaborator from SWORD!

Law was saved by a marine. This seems like a stupid and obvious point BUT is by far deeper than it seems; Cora lied to Law about being a marine because little Law was basically angry at them -but honestly, at everyone and everything in this world, too-. Now, we should recall properly who exactly was the real bastard that let the inhabitants of Flevance get sick and ultimately killed them: THE WORLD GOVERNMENT. Sure, the WG sent presumably marines to destroy the city; but… have you seen them? Cause I honestly we only saw people wearing the masks and suspiciously similar attires (not exactly the same) the guards of Punk Hazard wore (where do we see Law after the time skip? YES, PH. Remember there are no coincidences when it comes to ODA).

But, why did the WG sent those “marines” to destroy the city? Well, they couldn’t take the blame for exploiting the island for the amber lead KNOWING the people were getting sick because of it. But who cares about Flevance’s lives when such metal is used for… for… FOR WHAT, EXACTLY? Isn’t it toxic to touch? Then why the fuck do you need such metal? Ah… WEAPONS! But… who uses such weapons? For what?. All in all, who is the real bad guy here? the marines or the WG? Yes. Law is by far more intelligent than most of the OP characters, he can understand who to blame. And because of it there is another reason WHY Law would prefer being part of SWORD and it is because -as Kuzan says: Sword members are marines who give up their marine code and do not have to follow protocols nor -this is the most important one- they DO NOT respond to the WG. SWORD is the perfect alternative to both uphold the law while being against the fucking bastards at the same time. (refer to ch. 1080 during the mini flashback of Koby being in front of BB).

Also, Cora-san wasn’t probably part of sword (maybe it didn’t exist back then, this is my guess. In fact I believe it was formed right after Marineford) because he still used his marine code (01746). HOWEVER… DID HE GIVE A FUCK ABOUT THE PROTOCOLS? NOPE, HE DIDN’T CARE, HE WENT AND STOLE THE OPE OPE NO MI FOR LAW! Law has learnt a great example of real justice from a very young age.

2. The relationship with Koby and the Rocky Port Incident. What the actual fuck happened at the “Rocky Port”? we don’t know exactly, but Oda has given us 3 important pieces of information: 1. Law was the mastermind behind the RPI. 2. Koby became a marine hero after such incident. 3. Law became a Shichibukai after (do you believe in this? I don’t, exactly) giving 100 hearts from pirates to the marine. Who the fu- why? So, there is for sure a previous encounter -or a connection at least- in between Koby and Law. Koby, is with no doubt part of SWORD. Keep this in mind for later, we are gonna go back at this point but first let’s start back at Sabaody, please! Let’s go to point 3:

3. The relationship Law has with X-DRAKE (past and present) Who else connects with Koby? Yes, X-DRAKE!. Now, let’s go a little bit deeper (I know you, stop) about X-Drake and Law’s rs. If we go back in time to Vol. 51, chapter 498 “The Eleven Supernova” where we got introduced to them officially. First panel we see with Law:

So the first time we saw Law he is directly referring to Drake who -as many believe- he has left his spot at the Marine to become a Pirate. Interesting how Oda decided to introduce such important characters this way, right? Is not exactly that he is trying to portray a connection between them… 🤭

Good, good! Let’s go a little bit back in time now. Do you remember who Cora stole the Ope Ope no mi from? X-DRAKE’S DAD. Who at the time was the captain of a stupid ass pirate crew (Barrels pirates) that decided to sell the Ope Ope no mi to the Marine.

Uhum… yes. So, after the raid, both Cora and Doffy made a little bit of ruckus and ultimately the Donquixote family ended with Drake dad’s life. Little dino daddy (aka Drake) was able to scape just in time so he saved his life. AND Law’s life, too. Why? Because he was the kid Tsuru found and that was what the DQF heard through the radio! “a Kid had been found crying by the Marine” so, while Law was able to scape thanks to the sacrifice of Cora, he also got lucky that they found another kid. But, if it had been Law the one found by the marine… he would have been raised as one (as happened to Drake).

So, maybe at this point Drake didn’t know exactly who the other kid was, but, since he was raised by Sengoku and Tsuru* (*who now we know has a grandaughter that’s part of SWORD too) he probably learnt the real identity of Law back (or even before the introduction Oda give us at Sabaody).

UGH THERE IS A LOT, BUT WAIT WAIT, THERE IS MORE. And this is the main point: their interaction at Wano: WHEN DID LAW AND DRAKE SPOKE WHEN LAW WAS SENT TO JAIL TO TRADE HIS LIFE FOR BEPO, PEN AND SHACH’S LIFE WITH HAWKINS? Because BOTH fooled Hawkins into thinking Law was going to be in jail with no way of scaping. MANGA DOESN’T SHOW IT. ANIME EITHER. There is something previous hidden that has to be shown at some point! In Wano we have confirmation that Drake is no other than Koby’s superior in SWORD. Do I have to explain ANY FURTHER?

(also, I love Law but it was hella funny how XDrake to keep with the act hit the hell out of our poor doctor. We can say he is finally relieved of punching Law after what happened in the past)

4. Now, back to the Rocky Port Incident: IT HAPPENED AT DAMN HACHINOSU. This was only shown 3 days ago! While I was reading I passed the page and had to come back like WAIT… WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK? Cause LORD! Can you see the relationship? It’s crazy! For how long has Oda been cooking this? Isn’t a LOT of coincidences that Law didn’t know anything and was a simple pirate when he planned the “incident”??  which at this point -in my opinion- is no other than a lie they decided to show the world to undercover such growing Supernova! I strongly believe that Law had been contacted by either Drake or someone close to him to be part of SWORD and together they worked to bring the RPI alive. Now, we can either think 2 possibilities: 1. Law has already been at the New World (even before Luffy) because Hachinosu is there (and pretty close to Laugh Tale I might say) or 2. Because it is only stated as “the masterMIND of the RPI” he wasn’t there, but, he had planned it from somewhere else. I think both are interesting, both in any case had to be done with the help of others; aka SWORD or Marine. This has yet to be shown by Oda at some point for sure.

I’m sorry I can’t give more info about what exactly happened there because there isn’t any more than what I’ve already discussed.

5. PUNK HAZARD, Smoker and Aokiji.

Do you remember when Luffy was getting closer to PH that they received a call from marines asking for help? Do we have that clarify? Who the fuck called the Sunny? We don’t exactly know. And you won’t know until Law’s true nature is shown. What a coincidence… right? Law encountered Luffy and proposed an alliance right in the island where he was staying and to where Luffy was called in the middle of their route by random marines… 👀👀 INTERESTING, a shichibukai on an island that belong to the WG… Sure, he was there to start his plan to avenge Doffy, that’s clear. But I think there is more than we can already tell.

For me PH is no other than the first clear showing of the cooperation of 3 main forces in the universe of one piece (that sets precedent for future wars): MARINES (smoker), PIRATES (Luffy) AND… LAW’S SIDE: SOMETHING THAT’S IN BETWEEN: at that point he wasn’t a marine, but he was a pirate protected by the marine. Sounds familiar? Yes, pretty similar to SWORD. ➡ this is pure personal analysis of Oda’s writing style.

Please don’t forget Law telling Smoker about Green Bit! – this leads us to a new probable member of SWORD too! Smoker is a vice admiral who is kinda rebellious if you think about it! He wants to uphold the law and always be on the justice side… but is the WG always the “justice” side? Nope. (Smoker worked with Luffy twice)

The appearance of Kuzan – he was the one who saved Smoker from the sharp threads of Doffy’s attack. And Kuzan has been a repetitive character that’s -at least for me- appeared in very important moments of the story. Is not a coincidence that he appears at PH after Law tells Luffy to hurry the fuck up with the banquet.

And it’s not a coincidence that he has left the marine because of fighting against Akainu. WHY DID THEY FIGHT? Because IT’S CLEAR that both have different visions of justice. While Akainu believes justice is to be purely with the WG and hate pirates, Kuzan probably believes that justice is not about who you have on your side but to do the right thing. (Garp, KNOWN now as a member of SWORD did exactly that during God Valley)

This being said, let’s go for the next point:

6. Is Kuzan really a member of Kurohige’s crew? Is he a double agent?

Isn’t it quite sus that Kuzan is part of the BB crew and SOMEHOW Law encountered BB on the route he chose? (YES, LAW CHOSE THAT ROUTE. He used the lack of neurons of Kid and Luffy to make them pick the other two routes. Now, the fact that Kid encounter Shanks and it wasn’t Luffy is just for the sake of the plot, we know it Oda)  

My guess is that Aokiji is a double agent from SWORD acting like Cora with Doffy. BB is a stupid guy, he doesn’t even know shit about what sword is, so I strongly believe he doesn’t suspect anything. So, maybe, the plan was simple (sounds simpler than it’s done): Kuzan informed SWORD about BB setting sail with some of his generals from Hachinosu, leaving the island alone with a couple of them (Vasco shot, Shirui, Pizarro); Law will encounter BB and fight while Garp and part of Sword goes to rescue Koby at Hachinosu. (Don’t underestimate Law, so many people downgrade his powers when it’s not the case at all) – this is pure theory, of course.

7. DRESSROSA & SENGOKU. Besides the emotional panel of Sengoku teaching Law not to look for more reasons for love but just love, I am sure there has to be something else hidden. In any case, it is super important to address the way Law acts towards Sengoku (in manga, not so much in the anime); he is being absolutely respectful (and not “mean” like he is used to be with anyone) and I believe Law wanted to search for Sengoku for 2 reasons: one, the one we explicitly read: asking about the “D”. And, 2, to tell this man, who represented a paternal figure for Cora, about how and why Law’s saviour died. However… Why and how does Law know Sengoku was like a dad for Cora? HERE is the key. Who told Law such information? Law didn’t know exactly who was the man Cora spoke to through the den den mushi before going to find the ope ope no mi. (He only knew it was a marine, cause baby Law was pretty intelligent). Perhaps is a very VERY small detail, BUT, what if he knew because of Koby and SWORD? Wouldn’t be surprising, Law needs information and he gets it from somewhere we haven’t seen yet where.

8. Law’s character and backstory. This last point is more of a personal analysis about his personality and real intentions:

Law hates, despises chaos. He upholds the Law. (not a coincidence he is called this way)

Law never EVER shown desires to find the One Piece. Not even when he first set sail. In One Piece Novel: Law (canon) he states the purpose of his journey: avenge Cora-san. Law couldn’t stand staying at Mr. Wolff’s home without doing nothing to end with Doffy. When his trauma had been resolved (but not over) and he started trusting people again, he began learning more about surgery while gathering money and resources with Shachi, Penguin and Bepo at the city. Once he turned 15, Mr. Wolff gave him not only Kikoku, but also the Polar Tang…

But all in all, I do believe he is in the middle; not a marine, not a pirate either. That’s why I think SWORD fits him best. We will see what Oda has in store for the next few years! I hope that it’s even more exciting than this theory!

᱖ Guide to easy make up for beginners𐙚⋆.˚

Hi dear! I`m here to help you with beauty thinly and teach you basics in make up.

First of all, i want to say, that it`s totally normal to not know something or be kinda bad at. We all learn from the scratch and need to practice to becoming actually good at something.

In this article i will give you step by step instruction and if it would be helpful, i can start writing more complex tutorials and guides.

So,

🎀 1.

𝜗୧ I always start with cleaning my face. My personal cleanser is Aesop. It`s gentle and works great for my skin, it also smells delicious.

𝜗୧ Then, i use moisturizer to make my skin more fresh and juicy for the day, since i will cover and maybe even close my pores with make-up.

𝜗୧ Usually after that i use colour corrector (i`m asian, so i use blue one, but if you have redness, you need green one)

𝜗୧ Now we can use foundation or cushion (ts lighter in my opinion) You can even use BB cream, if that`s what you prefer. I use little product to make my look most natural and just enough to make my tone smooth.

𝜗୧ My personal choice is to do brows first, eyes later. My brow routine is simple, i use clear brow gel and just brush them, add little colour by mixing black and dark brown colours of eyeshadow (or when i find good brow pencil, i use graphite colour one)

𝜗୧ For eyes, it all depends on your look. If you, for example, going for something neutral, you need nude colours (beige, brown, creamy) For me, i love pastel pink and it shows in my daily life too. I use light pinks or creamy pinks, almost like my blush, but less bright.

𝜗୧ Now the blush. I love this step, it`s so meditative for me and i use LOTS of product. I prefer liquid blush, i can blend it well and correct colour, so i would get what i want today.

𝜗୧ Finally, lips. I use a brush to paint my lips. It helps me achieve that "just kissed and my lips still plump" look. My advice is to look for lipstick that goes good with your blush, almost like it`s the same, but not the same colour.

How about the fo4 companions (including DLC companions) reacting to a S.S. who was an Ex-Paladin for the BOS and had killed their team after being ordered to kill a synth child and went AWOL, taking the child under their care as a backstory?

I didn't do Ada or Longfellow because I didn't get to know them very well. We can imagine Ada didn't really give a shit and Longfellow just accepted it. He is old, he has wisdom... and he is probably drunk (for all I know of him)

Cait : "Bad-ass! I couldn't do better myself, kids not kids. But I take it's a warnin'. Dinnae violate yer morality by...not touchin' a child?"

Codsworth : "So this is what you were doing the entire time you were missing?"

"Yes. I was on the Capital side. I was completely disoriented after what happened to Nate/Nora. I had no idea what to do. And I couldn't bear seeing all I knew... altered in that way. I continued walking towards the capital without pausing. I couldn't find anything better on the road, so I decided to join the BoS. Seek out a place to live and some semblance of civilization. But they're all monsters in the end."

"Except for Danse..."

Sole tries to hide their smile, but they shake their heads and return to their solemnity.

"However, the reason I'm talking to you today is that my responsibilities as a General are taking up more and more of my time. I frequently put myself in dangerous situations. Also, the closer I go to the Institute, the more scared I am of never returning. I would not want my other child to be abandoned or without means."

"Do you still have him with you?"

"I hid him close to Sanctuary. I try to see him as much as possible, but it's becoming increasingly difficult. He requires a healthy environment, and Sanctuary has transformed into a haven of peace and tolerance..."

"Don't say anything else! I'd be delighted to look after this little one while you're away! We will always be at home to greet you back."

Sole expected nothing less from their butler, but seeing his joy warms their heart. The child does require a stable environment. Besides, having a location to return to and be welcomed back would be great for them.

Curie : "How dreadful. Betraying your vows by having to kill all of these individuals. Please be sure that I understand. But betraying a vow must be horrifying."

Sole sighs. Curie is only familiar with Hippocrates' oath. They are well aware that the synth cannot consider betraying it. But they appreciate how she handled the story. After all, these murders and betrayals have been weighing on them for a long time, and it feels nice to finally have someone to talk to.

Danse (Post BB) : "This story was told from time to time in the dorms. But I never imagined it was true, and I never suspected for a second that it was you. I now have a better understanding of your situation. But how is it that Maxson has never had a doubt? And why are you back?"

"It was another era, another time. They had not yet performed ADN testing, so how could they have known? And I needed the BoS to get into the Institute. But if you want a completely honest response, they are simply incredibly stupid."

"I recognize it now."

Deacon (romanced) : There were always moments. Sole vanished from his radar for a few days, then reappeared. They were impossible to trace. He now understands. Sole would never have allowed them to be followed in order to expose the location of this synth child's hiding place. And Deacon has more admiration than ever for this person to whom he has now dedicated his life.

Dogmeat : Love the child. Everything else is nonsense. It's a dog. He simply loves the child... and guards him like a mother wolf.

Elder Maxson (romanced) : Cade is formal. The soldier is the same. But how could it have taken him so long to identify them? How could his officer be so careless? He's not sure how to react now. To set an example, he must surely execute Sole immediately. But can he truly? He doesn't have a choice. As soon as Sole returns to the ship, he will arrest them and hand them over to a firing squad.

He doesn't have a choice...

But what if...

He makes an effort to think. He attempts to figure out who on his team could handle such a delicate mission for him. Then he finds out. Heylan, the scribe, came naturally in his mind. He is aware that she covered Danse. He had been aware of it, yet he accepted it since he himself was hesitant. Because a large part of him was hoping for a loophole in this tricky situation. Because he cared so much about Danse. And now, once again, a dossier in which his emotions and his responsibilities collide. Is this bad luck? When the scribe enters his quarters, he requests that she close the door behind her.

"This discussion never happened, and if you mention it, I will deny everything and you will face justice."

Haylen had not anticipated such a welcome. She was already worried about appearing before the Elder, her nerves had now reached new heights. But she nodded, waiting for what the leader of her organisation intended to do.

"You will return to the ground and follow Sole's trail, trying to find their allies and visiting their colonies. You must deliver a message from me: "I know, never come back."

Haylen cocks her head to the side, unsure, but she nods once more.

"Good, sir."

"Be really discreet. If you do not send this message before Sole returns to the airport, I will be forced to execute them. Do you realise the significance of what I'm asking?"

"Sir, yes. I completely understood."

"Danse trusted you, Sole trusted you, and so do I. Don't betray that trust."

"Never, sir."

And now all Maxson has to do is wait and hope. He did everything in his power. May fate now look after Sole.

Hancock : "Killing BoS? Help a child? And you were unwilling to brag about it?"

Sole frowns and shakes their head.

"There's more to it than that. I deserted my companions; I betrayed those who had placed their trust in me. They were under my command, and—

"You put your duties as they must be. This ends the debate. Is he all right, the kid?"

"Yes, yes, yes. He lives not far away. I hid him in... well, I hid him. I try to see him as frequently as possible."

Hancock's keen stare falls on them, becoming somber.

"Are you too afraid to tell me where he is?"

His friend, embarrassed, lowers their head.

"Understand! I… For so long, I've lived as a renegade, and I've kept our path hidden. It's difficult to put faith in anyone on this subject."

With a slight smile on his face, the mayor shakes his head.

"You've just pointed out your betrayal, your massacer, and its existence to me. It's odd that you paused right before asking me to send Fahrenheit to babysit."

"Pardon?" Sole and the bodyguard inquire.

"Yes, keeping him secure. So many sacrifices, why not give him a life worth saving?"

"Not in Goodneighbourhood! Never!"

"So what? Isn't this the town of outcasts and fugitives?"

Sole mulls on what Hancock has just said, but they sighs deeply.

"No. This is not the kind of life I want for him."

"So it's better to hide him?"

"I'm not sure, but your girlfriend doesn't appear to agree with your plans."

"Fah is my daughter, not my girlfriend."

Sole's eyes widen in disbelief. Hancock busts out laughing.

"A secret for a secret. Where do you plan on putting down roots, for the kid? I mean, seriously."

Gage : "What on earth does that have to do with conquering the Commonwealth?"

Sole grimace. That was something they should have expected. Gage is unconcerned about his last sock. The past is the past, the raiders are not children of the heart, and Gage's objectives are more essential than humans leaving by the side of the road. Sole does not and will never insist. But one day, like this, Gage returns to them, perplexed.

"You know, boss, I've been thinking about something. You betrayed your old patrol for a child who isn't even human. There may be children present when we invade the Commonwealth colonies. Are you sure you're not going to do it backwards?"

Sole's eyes widen in amazement. Then they softly shake their head and smile.

"No way, Gage, never."

But after that, their lieutenant was shot in the head the moment he turned his back.

MacCready : "Killing BoS and protecting a child synth. Yeah. You like risks, it’s twisted, but who am I to judge?"

He sighs and shrugs.

"Say, regarding the events in Vault 81... I hope you don't hold my view in the same regard, and that you're not planning to gut me in my sleep."

"Did you request that this child die? You were upset that I saved him, but you didn't ask for his death. That's not the same."

"No, I didn't... I didn't mind that you saved him! I'm disappointed that you didn't save yourself for whatever reason!"

MacCready is suddenly interested in his weapon, which he disassembles to lubricate the mechanism.

"However, I am not surprised. In fact, an imbecile capable of giving up healthcare in favor of a child's life may well debunk BoS without guilt in order to rescue one."

"It was my team..."

"That was the motto. The past is gone. Winlock and Barnes were both killed by me. You heard me; I don't pass judgement."

Nick Valentine (romanced) : He had a good time that evening. Conversations about the past, Sole in his arms, starry sky over their heads. But, for once, Sole didn't bring up the pre-war topic. They described this horrific event from their recent history nervously, almost fearfully.

"And the kid, what's he become?" The detective inquires flatly.

"Always safe and hidden. I try to pay him visits every few days. But I'm always worried that he'll be discovered."

Sole looks up to Nick, and he sees their anxiety. He strokes their cheek gently.

"Your secret is safe with me. I will never betray you. In the meanwhile, we'll consider where we can best place the child. Perhaps one of your settlements. I suppose he could be quiet at Sanctuary, and you could stop constantly glancing over your shoulder."

Sole's eyes are now bright with joy. They had already considered it, but because this secret had always been closely guarded, they frequently pondered if it was a poor idea without anybody else talking about it. The fact that Nick agrees with them gives them comfort. Yes, perhaps it's time for this poor child to resume his normal existence. And now that they're thinking about it, they're certain that Sanctuary would be the ideal location.

Piper : "Wow! What a tale! I'm not supporting genocide, but these Brotherhoods are viciously slaughtering anything that isn't like them."

"It was not a genocide."

"A slaughter? Don't try and tell me it wasn't a slaughter."

"Do you intend to write an article about this?"

"No! Absolutely not! I'm not stupid enough to put you and the boy in danger, and it could eventually lead to an open war with the Brotherhoods to expose to them that the Commonwealth Minutemen General is a former traitor to their organisation."

Sole gently shakes their head, a small smile on their lips. Piper's intelligence should never be underestimated. She comprehends things better than anybody else, and they were right to put their trust in her.

Preston : "But really, you had to kill these men back then?"

Sole sadly shakes their head.

"They refused to listen to reason. They'd track me down and kill me. I was his single chance to living a free and happy life. I had no choice."

The Colonel nodded slowly, his gaze fixed on the Prydwen.

"I see what you're saying. And I completely understand your distress at seeing this ship. Okay, if diplomatic visits are necessary, I will make them. Meanwhile, return this sad child to Sanctuary so he can have a decent home. It's a disgrace to keep him among the ruins, fearful, when we can give him a better future."

Sole can't keep a smile from appearing on their lips. They were completely right in telling Preston of everything.

Strong : “Boring. No need so much words. Protecting child. Good. Strong strong. Strong will protect child of human.”

Sole smiled slightly. It felt good to talk about it. And as usual, Strong’s simplistic philosophy reinforced their convictions. And now they have one more ally to protect their child.

X6-88 : Sole is sad now. They have since developed a trusting relationship with the Courser. They had placed their trust in his friendship. They assumed that X6 had progressed past certain phases of the Institute. That he had changed. So, they confided in him about everything. Their companion's reply did not take long. He demanded that Sole hand over the infant to the Institute. There have been relatively few synth children created, and they are extremely valuable for research advancement. Sole refused, as they had before refused to follow X6 in some "homework," but the Courser did not sweep the subject with the back of his hand this time. He made a threat against Sole. He threatened them, and everything about his demeanour indicated that he was serious. He stated thoroughly that it was the final straw. If Sole continued to refuse to behave in the Institute's best interests, they would be judged to have chosen to be an enemy. When Sole refused to cooperate, X6 opened fire, claiming that he didn't need Sole to find the child but couldn't afford to have them in his way. Sole is sad since they have to kill someone they thought a friend.

VERSUS... PART 2

Our second round of combatants, xirs, sirs and ladies!

WRECKER VS WRECKER VS WRECKER

TBB Set up Wrecker is the Strong man, the Big Guy, with the soft gooey center, and a background in Demolitions. He's meant to see the world without weighing the context of actions, what is often mistaken for being "simple", but has deep emotional sense.

Overall TBB Wrecker follows his set up pretty well, but too often ends up being a butt of jokes and making his enormous strength mean little to nothing. His so-called emotional intelligence is only really used when around the super special awesome OC, and doesn't once seem to come up with those who might need it, who aren't hte Guest of the Week (Such as an Echo suffering PTSD--which is never protrays--or a Tech who might need romantic relationship advice--which isn't portrayed either--or possibly Hunter falling under the stresses of leadership when there is no leadership anymore--but that never happens to the so called "HERO MAN"--Or the trauamtized brother who was brainwashed against his will to do terrible things... but Guess What Happens instead! Nothing. ) TBB Wrecker is regulated to the background of most things, because like any clusmily written show who breaks its wooden pencil trying to right the word "The", he is often just dumb muscle when the story requires it but will immediately switch to Big Brother Best Friend Forever when the story-don't-start-til-I-walk-in OC pops up. He has only had one attempt to show off his demolition skills and even then, it was about training the superstar and not about actually dealing with any kind of bombs, toxic waste, or burnable materials in any sort of story. He's effectively the Worf of Star Wars, in that he is merely used to demonstrate how terrible the enemy is--at the cost of being competent as a character, making him very bad at his concept and his job.

If there was a saving grace here, its the fact that giving Wrecker a stuffed toy was a brilliant idea. Everyone should have more stuffed toys; it is not only encouragement to the grown audience that they should allow themselves the joys of child-like wonder and comfort, but on a narrative level, even Wrecker acknowledges that he's not always the strong one. Lula additionally implies a stronger background to the Bad Batch's history as a physical example of backstory... though the show fails to act on the very opportunity it made.

TCWs Wrecker is an interesting contrasting character. On the first impression, we think he's just the overly excitable muscle man who clearly had a run in face-to-face with something explosive. (You could say he was... blind-sided). A thrill seeking warrior who seeks action on the battlefield and has no time for technicalities... ... Only to bring up those technicalities if anyone outside the squad asks, showing that, while he may tease his brother's technical intelligence, or cold-hearted demeanor, or not take authority seriously--he does in fact care and back up his squad-brothers, and additionally shows a shockingly precise attention to detail. Even though demolitions never truely comes up with the BB Arc, he shows his skills of demolitions by having that precise attention. He will laugh in roarous joy in a crashing ship, but will visibly become devastatingly afraid of heights if he sees the drop. He is the backup pilot of the Marauder [as seen in the second episode], he is a messy eater with even messier living quarters [the dude just threw a partially eaten chicken leg Somewhere in the ship Where they Live], and he Cannot stand stressful stealthing and will run off to cause or have excitement to cool off. ( I would say that he has an inability to stand suspension, which isn't a skill useful to demolitions--but that's not true. When he pulled off his combat rush in the middle of a "stealth mission", it wasn't long after a long emotional driven fight that left Hunter yelled at and emotionally shut down, and Crosshair who got decked twice. I'd say that, instead, Wrecker can't stand emotionally high tensions. ) As someone who is in things for the fun of things, he does have a competitive streak adn teasing streak with his favorite brother, Crosshair, who couldn't be more opposite to him in attitude. Wrecker is a character of excitement, but he's ultimately a character of terribly powerful control, and potentially more. He can lift a ship without breaking bone or damaging muscle, but he can also lift you up by your neck without crushing it, and he will simply hold you there without doing anything. He is a man that is fully aware that wrong moves hurt people, which works with both his body and his job. ... So I guess that means that Wrecker is the Superman of Star Wars.

Conceptually, TCWs Wrecker and TBB Wrecker come from the same deal and roughly, TCWs Wrecker can easily fit into the Set-Up TBB Wrecker.

The problem comes in, is that TBB Wrecker is an over exaggeration. Instead of the precise attention and man of control, he's more akin to an over excitable child who gets overwhelmed by everything and is just as ignorant to people as he is of his own character. Instead of the teasing and general comrade of TCWs Wrecker, TBB Wrecker too often comes off as a bit of a bully to his brothers, but immediately reverts to "Big Brother Best Friend" when Omega walks in.

Worse, in comparison to the rest of the batch, TBB Wrecker is the forgotten character. He doesn't receive an arc, he doesn't receive character development (not even when he was taken over by the chip), he doesn't receive any meaningful relationships and he certainly doesn't receive an ending that would benefit a character of his status.

TECH VS TECH VS TECH

TBB set up Tech is the smart guy, the logical one, the know-it-all, and the technical support. He has a surprising emotional center underneath the smarts, as well as a reach out to the neurodivergent community.

Actual TBB Tech generally follows the lines of his set up, but seems to falter back and forth if you go any deeper, and the show isn't quite sure what to do with him when it comes to his job or establishing relationships. For someone who is meant to be the Technician, he does a lot of engineering. For someone who is meant to be the telecommunications expert, he seems to be incapable of giving relevant information. I mean "I thought it was rather obvious" but it shows off the show itself's inability to communicate information to the audience, and using the information guy to do it--frankly its a hint at a malicious narrator who will explain episodic problems away, but cannot establish any character nor dedicate itself to any story beyond "Oh look AT THE CHILD, ISNT THE CHILD SO INTERESTING!?" The show wants to hint and poke at Tech having greater relationships with people, but doesn't bother to show Any beyond the super special awesome donut steel. It can't bother to set up brotherly relationships, and it won't even touch on romantic relationships, but will use Tech as the coin-on-string trick character all day. And if Tech was going to be used as the relationship guy, you'd think he would have a greater problem with Crosshair being missing. For the guy who was talking about programming and figured it was a neurochip, he was rather unconcerned about Crosshair losing his mind. After a certain point, we almost have to conclude that Tech's intelligence is in-name only and that TBB Tech is actually totally oblivious to everything until a spark of the story tells him that he needs to know a thing and suddenly he's the dictionary on that one thing. A pick-n-choose know-it-all who does nothing to use his intelligence to either save or improve lives of his loved ones, or even formulate a plan to leave shit circumstances, and will sit in the background, probably with popcorn.

To add insult to injury, the moment he starts being the character he is conceptually meant to be, both in TBB set up and in TCWs, such as being the technician, the telecomms expert, with tight relationships with squadmates to the point of rushing to the rescue of the missing one, and someone who is written to be neurodivergent (though I will argue that the entire Batch is neurodivergent)--the show decides "Y'know what, that's enough, you're getting too much development" and kills him for Shock value. And it is shock value, because the show then treats him like it did Crosshair--his missing status does nothing that wasn't already occurring to the Batch anyway, which is that they utterly ignore everything and everyone that isn't the episodic problem of the week--and his death is treated akin to Fives'--to be only as important as whether or not there's going to be some light rain and maybe a spot of sunshine in the afternoon, what a perfect time for fishing.

TBB Tech was the show's greatest tragedy, and like any tragedy on this show--it meant Nothing. His sacrifice Meant Nothing, it caused nothing, and to add insult to injury, it not only ensured that the TBB's group dynamic would never be healed, and the only one that was seemingly affected was the Indiana Jones of Star Wars... And THat's an insult too, because the show even failed to develop any kind of romance and preferred to poke and prod and tease and otherwise never dedicate itself to anything but placing characters in room and going "Oh MAN A ROMANCE HOW ROMANTIC, THEY EVEN HAVE NICKNAMES".

TBB Tech's set up and development was a catastrophic failure.

TCWs Tech is the Technician, the Technically-Speaking, and the Technology Guy. He is the know-it-all, and he shows this off with various fun facts about disturbing information that nobody asked about. He has a slew of hobbies that are, in fact, nothing but learning, gaining and understanding as much information, no matter how relevant or irrelevant, as possible... and He records Everything. He's always on his data pad, looking up gods know what (either from local defenses, to probably the smallest insect possible on the local planet, to maybe trying to recreate all the colors a shrimp can see but in the human vision spectrum). He's the insane pilot of the Havoc Marauder, landing whether its safe or not, if other people are in the way or not, here we come, Tag You're It! TCWs Tech is absolutely not armored for war, he is armored for deep planetary exploration or maybe he's here to repair whatever monstrous disaster is the local Star Wars power line--either way, its going to be an adventure. He is, additionally, a non-confrontational sort, backing away from fights started by his brothers. He is as far from a soldier as possible, and is more akin to a militant scientist. TCWs Tech is capable of shock and surprise, as well as having the capacity to know when something is important enough to voice (even if its one's own worries), such as running into the fact that the Separatists made a living hard-drive engine out of a living being--and worse, one of his clone brothers. He is still practical enough to distrust the rescuee after the fact, as the hijacking one's mind would lead to devastating results reasonably and logically. (and thanks the force that Echo turns out to have had a will of absolutely durasteel)--though Tech does unfortunately have Hunter's habit of bringing up those doubts and distrusts in the middle of a heart-stopping life-threatening mission. (Nobody on the Batch is good with priorities, let's face it ).

The set up of the Smart Guy character isn't a hard one--and it boarders on Cliche, both TBB Tech and TCWs Tech share the same set up but the difference is the narrative environment.

What's stranger, is that TBB Tech started out as a stilted character, regulated akin to TBB Hunter as being bad at even the thing he's meant to be--but then later is actually developed closer to TCWs Tech... only to be killed unceremoniously for shock value, and by his death, removed the very purpose of the Bad Batch even having their own show.

If you are not going to have the Bad Batch be the Bad Batch, why are they even There? Removing one and teasing his return to just say "Sorry, you honestly thought we were gonna give him back?', is bad enough, but to kill one utterly destroys the point and kills any good will narrative.

There is no justification for Tech's death. There is no argument in existence that would justify this beyond "If we keep the emotional tension up, you will give us money"--and that is an Evil Justification. It was cruel teasing, boarding on school bully tactics, and it turned this apathetic and clumsy piece of work into a Malicious Narrative.

OMEGA

Omega is set up to be the same set up that's been used repeatedly in nearly all recent Star Wars Media, even before the Sequels... and that's the "Star Child Character".

She is Half Wesley Crusher of Star Wars. I say Half, because Wesley Crusher was portrayed as one of two things--the super child genius that takes control of the situation and everyone loves him for it, or the super annoying genius that causes the problems. Omega is the first half.

Now, as a stand alone character, she isn't a bad one. Far from it.

She's a sheltered nine-year old who grew up in a military family (well a military, but military family is the closest we can reasonably compare her situation), and while that means she can recognize a hierarchy, she's also additionally a kid who is curious, overly trusting, and is really really good at playing games by herself.

The problem is, is that the narrative makes her the star child, on par with Ahsoka Tano fro the Clone Wars, and Grogu from the Mandolorian. Effectively, someone decided to repeat a "successful" formula but "let's do it for the clones, its not like they have any important people to make shows about!"

She is a poorman's attempt at recreating both, but the narration fails her character by making it too important.

A nine year old was never going to survive the Empire, with its clear film base preference of murdering lots of defenseless people, children too. A nine year old was never going to be on par with commandos, let alone ones that have special powers / mutations / enhancements. A nine year old was never going to have the emotional maturity to help traumatized soldiers, or worse, POWs.

This narrative seems to keep wanting to have all the darkness of a grim story, but tries to make Omega into this odd messiac character that if she just enters the scene, she can fix everything, or will fix it eventually. And not even just the immediate story, it wants her to be significant in the Lore, but refuses to extrapolate.

We all saw that she was set up to have a connection to the Force from Episode 1, and yeah, we all fucking groaned. Half of us oldies thought it was a cliche boring thing to do, a cheap way to make a character important.

The world build had room for her, but the execution, now looking back... it was worthless. Her so called significance to the Bad Batch comes off as utterly meaningless. Her force capabilities never came up with any importance.

(no, Ventress doesn't count. Ventress isn't even supposed to BE THERE. They RESURRECTED HER AND KILLED TECH. They rob characters of having Significant and meaningful exits to the Story. And they thinking that brinig in Guest Characters automatically means that they "Write Good Oohhahah" )

The only reason Omega would logically be there, is to be the child-character that young audiences can experience the story with... but I wouldn't say that this is a story for children.

The Clone Wars had a far better set up with lot more time with Ahsoka Tano, who became a beloved character by Season 3, even though she started out as being Hated for being the OC... because they made her Anakin Skywalker's Padawan, and that's fanfic logic.

But for Omega, it isn't Time she's missing... its Character that is being taken away from other characters, in order to make Omega into a Messiah of Clones.

TBB Crosshair was misvalued, and his story was eventually used in order to make Omega seem more mature and akin to an emotional crutch. Because apparently a child can heal all wounds of war, trauma, torture and worse.

TBB Echo was mischaractered, and then the moment things started becoming more important to him than Omega, they make him leave unceremoniously in order to get Omega's reaction Because apparently abandonment issues isn't a thing that develops when a child loses an important guardian figure.

TBB Wrecker was the forgotten character, unless he was playing Big Brother Best Friend to Omega, but never to a point where he would ever have an actual ending with his best friend. Because apparently a child's emotional guardian figure isn't ultimately important in the long run.

TBB Tech was killed, in order to make Omega "stronger" Because apparently grief doesn't apparently take months and trauma doesn't happen when a child loses an important guardian figure, and it doesn't result in severe disassociation when faced with future traumas.

TBB Hunter was already mischaracterized, but the moment he became the parent figure, his only obsessive goal as a character was Omega, and they made him bad at being his own character in order to make Omega more important in the story. And because, y'know, a child being made into a child soldier and robbed of any attempt at a normal life with no emotional healing from the sheer amount of danger and trauma, and constant communication stutning, will totally grow up just fine, especially if you add a dash of losing them to strangers that will use and abuse them.

This entire Narrative bent around itself to ensure that Omega, the sheltered nine year old, was the super special awesome donut steel totally original character mary sue--who is only mature when the story glorifies it, is only weak if the story wants drama, is always special all the time and anyone who gets more special than her is removed; and will always come on top, because somehow a nine year old has outclassed commandos, assassins, PTSD, fantasy monsters, and an entire fascist government.

And while this is none of the character of Omega's fault... they created the concept of her character, to be placed at the center of where all the problems start, and then tried to argue that she would become a super hero figure, with no problems or trauams, by the end.

Conceptually she's a good character, presently, she's decent... but set up wise? No. Her concept was rigged from the start, and now all your base now belong to us make your time.

I agree SJM’s sweatshirt might mean nothing, but in the event it does mean something, it’s definitely more likely a nod to Elain.

Bambi is a *fawn*. Not a hind (a female deer, while Bambi is male) and not a stag (an adult male deer), but a *fawn* (a young deer, either male or female). And who is the only SJM character who has been described as a fawn? Elain.

Also all the flowers. Who has a strong association with flowers? Elain.

And if we *really* want to go deep. Bambi is a story about a young fawn, representing new life and naivety and innocence, and their growth through the seasons as they find courage facing a terrifying world. Bambi denounces violence and aggression. Now does that sound like the stone-cold spy-breaker Lydia? Or does it sound more like the kind, doe-eyed seer Elain? Elain, who chooses over and over to be kind and have hope.

Also the argument that she would only be leaving Easter eggs for the current release doesn’t hold up…CC3 will start off in the acotar universe—aka where Elain is? BB already revealed Lidia is getting a pov (I think even for the first chapter), so that’s no secret, so why would the Easter egg be hinting towards her when that’s already been revealed? In addition, SJM has said she surrounds herself with things that inspire her in whatever she’s currently working on. And what is she currently writing? The next acotar book. So it’s not far fetched to think it could be a nod of what’s to come—Elain’s book.

That’s just my piece on this (sorry if it’s long winded). Overall, people are being ridiculous getting angry and arguing over this. It could mean something, it could not. But bottom line is there’s no know right answer. We don’t know what SJM’s intentions are. So for people to be going and calling people saying it could be a hint to Elain “delulu” and gaslighting us for innocent speculation is insane.

SJM is now fully into writing ACOTAR5. She confirmed it. What if we, shockingly, will get news sooner than we think about it? What if there needs to be a hint about what's coming? It could be a breadcrumb. It could also be an answer to a question that might be buried in CC3.

SJM is a self-confessed Swiftie. SJM also LOVES breadcrumbs and hints. So it is so farfetched to think that she is following Tay Tay's example? *I am* not a Swiftie, but even I know that that's what Taylor does. So quite possible that SJM is teasing us too.

Look at the earthquake this caused. She knows what she is doing. She doesn't need to advertise. She just needs to put on a Bambi sweatshirt and everyone loses their minds.

are there any bb!cats with schizophrenia or that regularly experience psychosis? people absolutely suck about mental illness so like. seeing characters like me going thru life and being treated like people and not monsters for something out of their control never fails to put a smile on my face! thank you for all the research and effort you put into making sure your disabled cats are not only believable but human. pd: cinderheart with bpd is an extremely based headcanon

Not yet but it's on my radar, plus NPD. The reason why I feel so unflappably confident with BPD is because I know and love people who have it, and I hate that I don't see any characters who are like them! So I feel like I'm really good at handling it, and knowing what's wanted in portrayals of it. It feels very personally important to me.

Pair that with the fact I write BB!Clans as canonically struggling with ableism and all these being so heavily stigmatized irl, I've gotta be REALLY careful with NPD and psychosis. I'm less connected to them so personally and I don't want to accidentally strike a nerve, you get me?

That said... I got an ask a while back that I'd been thinking about a lot, basically asking me about how Clan Culture would see psychosis in the first place. I've actually always been fascinated by how deeply schizophrenia is affected by the culture of the afflicted, so I've been idly thinking about that for a while without sharing those thoughts.

OH WAIT hangon let me explain some stuff about Schizophrenia and psychosis for people in the audience!!

Schizophrenia used to be diagnosed in subtypes before 2013. This is no longer accurate! A lot like Autism, it's a spectrum of symptoms that affect people differently. It's a cognitive disorder that messes with rational and organized thinking, and that can express in all sorts of ways.

One of the symptoms is hallucinations. It's The Famous symptom of it, but it's not actually something you NEED to have to be Schizophrenic. Not all people who are having hallucinations or delusions are Schizophrenic, either! I want to include an OCD character of some kind who experiences some mild auditory hallucinations, actually. The type where it's just random mumbling.

Delusions and hallucinations aren't the same thing Delusions are false beliefs and hallucinations are false experiences. An example of a delusion is, "If I don't click my pen three times, my family will die." An example of a hallucination is hearing voices.

PEOPLE WITH PSYCHOSIS ARE FAR MORE LIKELY TO BE THE VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE THAN TO COMMIT IT Feel like this is common knowledge in this space, and especially within my own following since I make a lot of art about mental illness and awareness, but it's always worth repeating.

So anyway

If you compare psychosis between cultures, you actually end up seeing VERY different expressions of the hallucinations. For example, in some cultures, voice hallucinations tend to say things that are negative or abusive, while other cultures hear significantly more positive, playful voices.

This doesn't mean that they're always less distressing. For example, the study above points out that Nigerian students (reported to hear lots of playful hallucinations) experience as much distress as Dutch students (tend to experience negative, abusive voices) during their psychotic episodes.

Still, there does seem to be a correlation with "less distress" and cultures that encourage psychotic people to see their hallucinations as positive, personal things. Even more interestingly, distress seems to be correlated with income and individualism in a culture.

But it doesn't stop there, the findings are fascinating.

Delusions of grandeur are rare in societies that discourage that sort of social mobility, reflecting social values.

Cultures that believe religious experiences are specific experiences-- like certain smells, temperatures, or sounds, will see those reflected in psychotic episodes

Yet, "voices" seem to be something seen across ALL cultures studied. Though some have more prevalence of random sounds and mumbling than others, they all share some expression of "voices that say stuff."

SO all that to say-- if I include psychosis it's definitely going to be trying to take the culture of each Clan into account, and I need to do a lot more research into what sorts of things people with schizophrenia and various types of psychosis want to see more often.

Hi!! How did you learn to make maxis match clothes? I would like to start doing it uwu

Hi ! So to be fair I don't remember exactly how I went about starting making CC at the very beginning except from reading tutorials and downloading Sims4Studio but here are the steps I more or less followed in my CC making journey.

First off I was already quite used to some picture editing softwares (namely Gimp and Photoshop) which definitely helped so I would recommend familiarising yourself with one of these.

Then comes the gateway drug to CC creation that are ✨recolors✨. For those you just need S4S and a picture editing software of your choice. Recolors can be quite simple : maybe you just want to change an item's color or add patterns to it. But with a little more editing/drawing skills you can also remove/add some details to the diffuse texture.

Here is a link to a short tutorial for a simple recolor using gimp by @smubuh

To keep the maxis match aesthetic the easiest way to go is to be a 🙌scavenger🙌 : you want to add buttons / belts / lace / embroidery / whatever to your texture ? Steal it from an other Sims 4 item ! Just look at your CAS and BB in game as a catalogue of all the details and textures you could frankenstein onto your project.

Maybe you'll be content with making recolors forever but if like me you start wanting to make something with a shape that doesn't already exist in game or in the CC world out there, you will have to deal with mesh. (the mesh is the 3D shape of the item as opposed to the 2D texture that is applied onto it) Meshing has a steeper learning curve than recoloring for sure so arm yourself with as much calm and patience as you can muster. First you'll need to download Blender, I recommend downloading the same Blender version as the one used in the tutorial you choose to follow because if you're anything like me you'll get lost otherwise. Also use a mouse, the scroll wheel makes moving around in blender so much easier than using a laptop touch pad like I did at the start 🤡.

And now that you have blender and a mouse time to mess around with meshes and for that like everyone I started (and honestly I mostly still stick to it nowadays) by frankenmeshing. Sticking to the frankenstein/scavenger theme from earlier, this is quite similar to what I described with scavenging textures, except this time we're combining meshes aka shapes : see a collar you like on that blouse, a sleeve you like on that dress ? Bam put them together !

For example here is a handydandy frankenmesh tutorial by @deetron-sims

Outside of frankenmeshing other ways to tranform meshes are to inflate and stretch parts of it (want a bigger skirt ? a shorter jacket ? the O key is your friend). And if you want to go beyond what I have you can also learn how to create meshes from scratch.

That being said dealing with meshes is full of surprises (mostly bad ones unfortunately), since you may have to deal with distorted weights, UV1 and whatever else, so it involved a lot of trouble shooting and trial & error. Being part of the S4S forum or the Creator Musing discord can be very helpful when you're at a loss (but always google and search for yourself before going around asking people).

Finally it's important to keep in mind that it takes time to learn how to make CC so don't be too hard on yourself and take breaks when it gets too frustrating. Personally it took me many months to graduate from recolors to frankesmeshing, I had to give up and try again many times before I finally got what I wanted.

Sorry to bring this up on anon, but I needed to get my thoughts out about that screenshot you posted earlier, of the person defending BB for “being normalized for general audiences,” but I was worried about posting rwde to my main since some of my mutuals are still really into the series.

The following rant in response to said screenshot.

Just, first of all, the presentation of lgbt+ as being in opposition to “general audiences” just feels like a really bigoted starting position. As does them presenting lgbt+ representation as typically rushed. Heck, as an aroace person I typically prefer same-gender ships over different-gender ships because the same-gender ones tend to feel less rushed to me. Using Legend of Korra for example: it felt to me like Mak/orra were only ever interested in each other due to physical attraction, and rushed into a relationship before figuring out if they had any chemistry, while Korrasami took time to get to know each other and develop good chemistry.

BB, by contrast, feels so much more rushed, despite the technically slower pacing, because they never really show us why they bonded. They barely interacted in the first 5 volumes, and when they did it was usually just Yang acting like they were super close. Then volume 6 begins with Blake and Sun going their separate ways, followed by Blake finally returning Yang’s over-familiarity, coming across as she’s just looking for a rebound. Which could’ve been interesting if they explored that dynamic, but instead the writers decided to act like they’re a perfect couple from that point onwards. They skipped over potentially the most interesting part of their dynamic, and for what? 3 seasons of kinda bland flirting, then them being forced to hook up at metaphorical gunpoint in volume 9.
