The Wonder Twins
(Williamson!reader)
Tumblr media
The Wonder Twins Universe
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5
— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
Twins
Fraternal twins to be more specific
Leah is not only your sister, but she is also your best friend. You have always been there for each other. She was your biggest supporter and you were hers.
You were there for her when other kids made fun of her because of the way she walked and she was there for you whenever you had an injury.
It has always been Leah and y/n, the wonder twins.
You guys joined Arsenal’s academy and went through the ranks together but there was a problem and Leah always knew it.
Arsenal was Leah’s dream team but it wasn’t yours.
— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
It seemed that defending was part of the Willamson’s blood. While Leah was a CB you were a defensive midfielder even though you could play as an offensive midfielder if needed.
After an amazing season with Arsenal Sarina decided to include you in the Euros squad.
During the tournament you were a key part of Sarina’s starting 11. Your impact was incredible, some even called you England’s motor because your tempo in the midfield was part of the things that dictated England’s game pace.
Winning the Euros had been the highlight of your life. Nothing compared to playing for your country with your sister as captain, your best mates and winning at home soil in Wembley. You were in cloud nine.
— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
It was known that after your amazing Euros performance you were going to call the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
You knew that you were entering the last year of your contract with Arsenal and that you had to take a decision really soon.
— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
You were sitting in your living room of your shared apartment with Leah when your phone ringed, it was your manager James.
“y/n I know you just got home some days ago from a well deserved Euros celebration but I wanted to remind you of our meeting with Jonas tomorrow”
“Don’t worry James I’ll be there tomorrow”
If anything you knew the reason of tomorrow’s meeting, it was to know more about Arsenal’s contract extension offer and to learn about the offers received by Arsenal for you.
— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
“So what happened in the meeting with Jonas sis” Leah asked while she saw you preparing pasta for the both of you
You were scared to see Leah’s reaction of your next words. How could you not, it has always been Leah and y/n, y/n and Leah.
“The meeting was to check what the club was offering as an extension and to…. see the offers received for me made by other clubs”
As soon as the words left your mouth the only thing heard was the sound the pastas boiling water.
When Leah heard those words she got scared, she has only known how to play with you on the field.
The chemistry she had with you she wouldn’t have it no one else, for you guys on and off the field words weren’t needed to communicate with one look you guys knew what the other one was going to do. It was twins telepathy.
“What clubs want’s you to play for them?” Leah said staring at you
“Lyon, ManCity, Barcelona, PSG, Real Madrid and obviously there is the club extension offer”
Leah knew that sooner or later your dream club was going to make an offer for you and that Arsenal has always been her dream, you joined Arsenal because of her. She will always be grateful for you, there was no one else with who she would have liked to share her path with. There was no better partner than her twin.
Now it was her turn. You were there for her when she was younger and had doubts of her skills, when she cried because of a broken heart, when she got mad with her friends because of something stupid and you were always the voice of reason, you made her laugh when no one else could and now it was her turn. It was her turn to push you to follow your dreams even if it meant going separate ways, she knows that the national team will always be there for you guys to play together.
“Call James and tell him you are accepting another clubs offer”
“ What are you saying Leah?! Are you crazy?! Arsenal is home, we can play together if I stay” You said with a loud voice. You never imagined that Leah was going to encourage to leave.
Leah moved next you to give you a hug.
“I know that sis, I know that Arsenal is my dream club and that you joined the academy because of me. You’ve always done things for me and now it’s time for you to follow your dreams, to start your own journey. Don't worry we will always be the wonder twins no matter where we are”
Those words were everything that you needed to hear. You knew that everything was going to be alright with your twin by your side nothing would stop you.
You separated from Leah and looked at her as she mirrored your red eyes caused by crying, she had a smile on her face.
While looking at your phone you searched for James contact, you looked back at Leah who was nodding while you pressed the call button.
After three rings James picked up and the call that changed your future started
“Hey James I need you to call Jonas and tell him that I’m not extending my contract. That they can start negotiating my transfer with …”
— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
After reading so many stories and imagines of so many amazing authors I decided give it a try and to write my first story.
English isn’t my first language so if I made any grammatical mistakes please tell me as I want to improve my writing skills.
If I do part 2, what club do you guys want?

CBS Ghosts 4x4 Live Reaction
I heard this one is about Trevor :)
So... read under the cut for spoilers.
LOL Sass watching a branch falling????
Aww poor ghosts. "We could start a rumor."
Pete walked right into that one. Love Pete's new abilities. I'd Brag too.
Sass totally deserved to made fun of!
Sam giving Isaac advice. - OMG.
OMG Trevor just announcing a job.
"MOM AND DAD"
"A great time to be a ghost job" - I love this.
"People have lives" - "You're dead".
LOL Sam and Jay weren't even mad. Just surprised. And he doesn't even ask for help????
There's already too many plots though. Three with Rumors/Isaac/Trevor all have plots.
LOL at the Rumor thing though. Thor is SPOILING EVERYTHING!
OMG Jay being Trevor. Please! I love how he's so proactive. No one has asked about his salary???
Sam is on board! She's excited for this.
LOL Alberta "What the hell is this?"
TREVOR IS OFFERING THEM MONEY! SO DIFFERENT TO ISAAC I LOVE HIM!
OMG MICHEAL JACKSON?? WHY TREVOR???
Like Trevor just wants to keep his job and is willing to help (like he always does) and Isaac just makes things worse.
I love how the FOUNTAIN is the important thing here?
Where's Flower? Have we seen her?
Why is no one really reacting the whole job thing??
Wow. They're terrible. This is terrible!
"Lock your door Dave"
Nancy with the rumor. Isaac with the freakout. Jay looking bad.
LOL Thor yelling that at Bjorn. LOL.
Isaac slapping Pete????
WTF!
Isaac this is your fault not Pete!
Sam's getting into being the lonely innkeeper.
LOL Alberta!
Oooh, Jay taking the ear piece out. OMG SAM!
Jay being the winner! and cooler... awwww. They like Jay.
Awww Trevor :(
I hate this. Why beat up on Trevor?
Can't he have a good episode??? Like All he wants is a fucking job. So sad.
This might've been more fun if Trevor possessed Jay.
Awww, Jay you are not helpful.
Poor Trevor. This hurts.
"Did you see Parade?"
Awww, Trevor. It's nice of Sam to try and help. Jay talking to him AFTER he leaves.
F OFF Jay. There's nothing wrong with that.
I like Jay feeling bad though.
"Cheesed off." "Slap them with my words!!!!" LOL
The ghosts jealousy!!!
Awww Trevor. Love the eye roll.
Awww JAY. Talking about Trevor as a mentor!
T- Money??? OMG you do??
Sam's got a twin now?
AWWWW he's a legend!!! AND THEY KNOW THE STORY ABOUT PINKUS!!!
AWWW!!! I love this!!!
He's actually REMEMBERED!! What all of the Ghosts WANT he GOT!!!
THE RUN OF FUN TO REMEMBER TREVOR!!! OMG!!!
OMG!!! This is so great!!!
Okay, the episode made up for the sad part in the middle!! Cute, Sad Trevor gets a happy ending!!!
WAIT WAIT WAIT DOES THIS MEAN THEY WORK FOR PINKUS????
PINKUS MADE SURE HE WAS REMEMBERED!!! <3 <3 <3
I love you, Pinkus. We need to see you!!!!
Love Pete was excited until finding out that she was a murderer!!! LOVE IT!
Poor Pete.
Nancy and Judy yelling!!!
LOL the rumors continue!
Flower was missing???
Overall, the ending made up for it, but there were slightly too many plots. I think we should've spent more time on Sam and Jay being like "how the fuck" with the whole "I have a job thing" and wondering what he's been doing with the money.
OTOH he's the ONLY ghost to HELP THEM GET MONEY.
This is the third time - first, the watch. second, the investing of Isaac's money. and third, giving his earned money for helping.
This is the third season that he's saved Sam's life too. He's clearly the best ghost.... JS.
I do love Jay coming up with something that made it all better, but please drop the issue with Bela. PLEASE.
Ended up loving it! <3.

Truth is Connor would be the one pushing Hank into dating women dude would be "wtf NO🤦🏾‍♂️🙅🏾‍♂️😤🙄" cuz he knows this kinda topic may piss Hank off. I think if was someone his age, divorced and with kids (or had kids) he maybe would agree to just talk, not exactly go the romantical way. I just know bro would also ask Hank if dude would date android girls just to see Hank "Jesus fucking christ ❌❌ they deserve better".
Then the questions switch back to Connor and dude get like "oh, hm, ??? 🤔 Idk". "What? Do you like men?" then Connor proceeds to explain all android-mode why such things doesn't matter that much for androids and ask the same question back and Hank get, like, "say what?" *pikachu surprised face* "I don't think I go there". But, really, I can see Connor being the type of person curious about people's story but not actually seeking this whole "have a girlfriend" and shit fr, y'know? But he ain't like Hank who's likely running and just a big "no, thanks".
Idk, Hank is kinda boomer considering the way he was written but he's more chill with homo shit than the average type of character he was built on, I guess cuz the game is in 2038. Cage sayin' Hank is basically CB i can't help but think he would joke like in that livestream xD
I remember a mf I know telling his story (funnily he was born in 85 xD) bout when he was younger and was all bout testing the whole homo thing even if he wasn't the one starting it but never worked for him fr. I'm boutta fit this shit in the conversation.
I mean, this kinda chat between pals will eventually happen, it's just common if you're from the circle. I guess it's a matter of escalation, sometimes it starts with something very simple until curiosity starts taking place.

Tumblr media
Robert B. Hubbell Newsletter
The media is normalizing Trump's victory by “blaming Democratic elites” and criticizing the Democratic campaign.
The defining feature of Trump's campaign was its appeal to racism, misogyny, and white supremacy. He pushed those themes despite pleas from his advisers to focus on the economy. Having campaigned on themes of hate and division, he won decisively. The most compelling inference from those facts is that Trump's campaign themes appealed to a broad swath of the voters who supported him.
But the media is (again) sane-washing Trump's depravity. Rather than acknowledge—or even mention—his dominant campaign themes in analyzing his victory, the media insists that Trump won because Democrats are “elitists” who somehow “alienated” major portions of the electorate or that Democrats lost because Kamala Harris and her advisors refused to run her campaign in the manner demanded by the legacy media.
Saturday brought a new spate of such articles—many of which were forwarded to me by readers who seemed to agree with the “I told you so” tone of the articles.
Okay. I’ll play that game. Let’s assume that Democrats made mistakes in the execution of Harris’s nearly flawless campaign. Let’s assume that despite the dozens of policies designed to help the working and middle classes, Democrats are not connecting with those voters. Even accepting those assumptions, the story of what happened on Tuesday is not that Democrats deserve a tongue-lashing by professional scolds.
The story is that America elected a convicted felon for the first time its history. It is that America elected an adjudicated sexual abuser as its president. It is that America elected a man who attempted a coup and incited an insurrection the last time he was president. It is that America elected a president who declares that those Americans who oppose him are “enemies from within.” It is that the man the media is currently lionizing has threatened to shut down CBS, ABC, the New York Times, Google, and other outlets that have accurately reported the truth about Donald Trump. It is that he has promised to fire the prosecutor who is pursuing two indictments issued by grand juries of his peers.
Here's the point: Choosing to write stories that “blame elitist Democrats” ignores the real story of what happened on Tuesday. That distraction normalizes the grotesque, existential threat of Trump's electoral victory. Trump could not buy more favorable and helpful coverage if he paid for those stories with Elon Musk’s billions.
The media again fails to comprehend the moment, much less rise to it. It is like reporting on the sinking of the Titanic by criticizing the viscosity of the oil in Engine Number Two. While the Titanic’s engineers might have used underweight oil, ignoring the iceberg’s role in the Titanic’s sinking is unforgivable.
The failure of the media is even more unforgivable because Trump represents an ongoing threat to democracy. Such petty, “inside baseball” reporting is fatuous under normal circumstances. It is journalistic malpractice in this perilous moment.
It is also insulting to the millions of Democrats who worked their ***** off to help elect Kamala Harris. While it is true that the Democratic Party has high-paid consultants and political insiders, they are the tiniest fraction of the party. The real Democratic Party includes Black women who staffed nearly every polling station in the South. It includes young, first-time voters who believe fervently in the promise of America. It includes retirees living on Social Security walking precincts despite aching knees and anxious hearts. It includes young married couples, straight and gay, who are desperately hoping for a better future for their children. It includes the out-of-work middle-aged mechanic with a pre-existing condition who worries about not qualifying for health insurance on the open market.
So, when clueless but know-it-all wags criticize the “elitist Democrats,” that is who they are criticizing. In fact, those who choose to criticize “Democratic elites” are revealing their profound ignorance of who makes up the backbone of the Democratic Party.
It is especially offensive to exhibit glee while chastising “Democratic elites” when most everyone in the party is experiencing raw emotions of bewilderment and despair over the fact that America would elect a convicted felon-sexual abuser-insurrectionist as our president. So, please desist.
There will be a time and a place to discuss how Democrats governed under Biden and how they campaigned under Harris. But rubbing people’s faces in grudge-settling op-eds by smug journalists is counterproductive, graceless, and offensive. Exhibit some empathy and humanity. Rather than explaining why you believe Democrats lost, consider asking someone whose heart is broken how they are doing after giving their all in the hope that Kamala would win and that Trump would lose.
I sometimes receive criticism from readers saying that my comments are “over the top” or intemperate. That may be true. However, Rebecca Solnit (of The Guardian) feels even more passionate about this subject than I do. For those of you who know Solnit, she is one of the finest writers of our generation. See her Facebook post, link here: Rebecca Solnit – F*ck the media explanations that Trump won because of the economy . . . . For those of you who do not have a Facebook account, I have excerpted the posting in a Google Doc, accessible to all here: Rebecca Solnit Facebook Doc.
Democrats tried to stop Trump. They lost because Trump’s feral instincts knew that a substantial portion of the electorate would respond to his racist, sexist, white supremacist platform. Sadly, he turned out to be correct—for now. But he is wrong about who the American people are. When more of them vote, his dark vision of America will be repudiated, and the arc of the moral universe will once again bend toward justice.

Character Spotlight: Lwaxana Troi
By Ames
Tumblr media
Lwaxana haters, see yourselves out (or stick around and see how wrong you are!), because A Star to Steer Her By loves our black-eyed Betazoid mama. She’s the daughter of the Fifth House, holder of the Sacred Chalice of Rixx, heir to the Holy Rings of Betazed, and also one of our favorite characters from The Next Generation!
Like Katharine Pulaski (whom we also stan with the best of them!), Lwaxana Troi is a character who gets way more hate than she deserves, who grew substantially every time she appeared on the show, and who has way more nuance than even some of the main characters we’ve discussed from the show so far! And that fashion sense? Holy cow. So pack your absurdly huge luggage, don your fluffiest wig, and meet up with us and Mr. Homn as we celebrate (and occasionally criticize) all things Lwaxana below and this week on the podcast (sashay over to 55:22 for the convo). We’re going on a manhunt!
Best moments
Tumblr media
Murderers! Assassins! While her first couple of appearances in TNG were fairly annoying, as you’ll see in our next section, the one thing Lwaxana gets emphatically right in “Manhunt” is figuring out the two Antedians the Enterprise was carrying are actually assassins. And she drops this information in the most nonchalant way possible, cementing her status as a major boss.
Tumblr media
Release them and I will stay with you willingly Oh boy is “Ménage à Troi,” a tough episode to gauge. While it certainly has its lows (Lwaxana constantly crashing Deanna’s day, Ferengi shenanigans at their worst, and some sexual assault and implied rape swept under the rug), Mrs. Troi does put her daughter first and insists to Daimon Tog that Deanna and Will be released if she sacrifices herself like any mother would.
Tumblr media
Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? The other great scene that Lwaxana inspires in “Ménage à Troi,” is one we mentioned in our Picard Spotlight post, when she and JL work together to trick the Ferengi into releasing her. Even from across viewscreens, she compels the beautiful diatribe of Shakespearean poetry from Jean-Luc that ends up saving the summer’s day!
Tumblr media
What does that little one do, Mister Woof? I don’t know why, but it always tickles me the couple of times on the show that Lwaxana calls our Klingon security head “Mr. Woof” as she does in “Half a Life” and others. Is she doing it just to evoke a reaction from him? Does she actually know his name at all? Regardless of the answer, it’s a cute joke that the writers play.
Tumblr media
It is the custom for your loved ones to join you at this Resolution, is it not? Our fuller opinion of the character really started getting formed once the show reached “Half a Life” – one of our TNG faves – and we got a different look at this man-hungry helicopter parent. Suddenly, Lwaxana has nuance. She fights for people other than herself or her immediate family. She becomes vulnerable with Timicin, something we didn’t think possible from her character. And when she decides to go with him to his Resolution, it feels personal, complex, and complete.
Tumblr media
A child who is trusted becomes worthy of that trust We gave Deanna some rightful criticism for thinking that writing up a contract between Worf and Alexander would be a good idea in “Cost of Living,” and Lwaxana waltzes in like a fairy godmother and throws that terrible idea in their faces! Immediately, she knows how to better parent Alexander than anyone else on the show ever had, low bar that that is.
Tumblr media
You’re telling me you’re not going to be naked at your own wedding? It feels like such a triumph for Lwaxana to so brazenly show up naked to her wedding in “Cost of Living,” fully embracing her Betazoid heritage and throwing her strong will and individuality in Campio’s and his little toady’s faces. Now why she was engaged to that uptight twat in the first place is another story, but good for her anyway!
Tumblr media
Whatever it is, we can face it together Here’s an actually good moment she shares with her daughter: That tear-jerking moment in “Dark Page.” It’s another instance in which we see Lwaxana as having more personality traits than we were led to believe she had as she comes to acknowledge the death of her daughter Kestra, and also we see Majel Barrett nailing some acting we’d never seen from her before.
Tumblr media
Nobody’s ever seen me like this By the time we reach Deep Space Nine, the writers have figured out what to do with Lwaxana Troi to make her an impactful character. Sure, she’s still a great comic device, especially against rigid characters like Picard and Odo, but it’s in the way that she is humanized (or Betazoidized?) in scenes like the truly remarkable turbolift scene in “The Forsaken” that she really shines.
Tumblr media
Then sway with me, Odo. Sway with me. While Lwaxana’s constant pestering of Picard gets tiring really quickly, her relationship with Odo proves something more interesting. In one of those Odd Couple kind of pairings, she’s able to get Odo to come out of his shell, even if it’s just a little bit, so when she gets him to dance with her in “Fascination,” it’s delightful and shows more layers to their respective characters.
Tumblr media
Before I met her, my world was a much smaller place Okay, so the weird inspiration vampire side of the plot of “The Muse” may be idiotic, but the Lwaxana-Odo scenes are pure gold. Lwaxana and Odo, again, find each other to be the only people they can be vulnerable with, and Odo agrees to marry a very pregnant Lwaxana to get her out of an existing marriage, delivering the purest, most intimate and beautiful speech we’ve heard from him (until Kira, at least).
Tumblr media
Strut your stuff on the catwalk Finally, we just have to give massive points to her remarkable fashion sense. One of our favorites is this blue number from “Fascination,” with the perfect wig to complement it and accessories like whoa. Make sure you check out our full screenshot assemblage that we put together previously to give fair credit to the excellent costuming of this iconic woman.
Worst moments
Tumblr media
Momzillas gone wild Mrs. Troi is not without her faults, however, and most are man-related. How much pressure she puts on her daughter to get married is more than uncomfortable, it can get downright offensive. When the arranged marriage she initiated between Deanna and Wyatt comes due in “Haven,” it’s clear that this momzilla doesn’t always have her daughter’s best interests in mind; just her own.
Tumblr media
Use your mind, not your mouth We also found it just plain rude how much Lwaxana insisted on communicating with Deanna telepathically in “Haven” and other episodes. a) Deanna has made it clear she’d rather speak out loud, and b) Picard and other crewmembers can’t hear what’s being said and that’s impolite, especially coming from someone of such standing in the Federation.
Tumblr media
Oh, Jean-Luc, what naughty thoughts It becomes a running gag for the first couple appearances of Lwaxana how much she makes sexual advances on Captain Picard, who is just trying to do his job most of the time. But “Manhunt” really takes the cake for just going overboard with presumptuous behavior unbecoming for a woman of her stature. Leave the poor guy alone!
Tumblr media
Until death us do part Later in “Manhunt,” it’s even grosser for Mrs. Troi to declare that she and Riker are to be wed. Whatever physiological state she was in is no excuse for how she goes out of her way to mortify her daughter, to put the moves on Deanna’s imzadi without consent, and to make scene after scene all for romantic attention. Why Gene Roddenberry would make his wife act like this is beyond us.
Tumblr media
No man has ever been such a mystery to me Lucky for the flesh-and-blood men that Lwaxana spends most of “Manhunt” sexually accosting, apparently she has no idea what a hologram is. I don’t know how, but she’s so horny that when she meets Rex the bartender, she’s so intrigued by her inability to read his mind that she doesn’t even realize it’s because he’s not a real person. We can just imagine how far it went before it dawned on her.
Tumblr media
Oo-mox is only the beginning It’s only fitting that someone like Lwaxana Troi should be there for the introduction of oo-mox on the show, and one time was already too much. During “Ménage à Troi,” Lwaxana unknowingly performs what’s essentially a sex act on her captor, which is gross enough as it is, but we learn later in an episode of Deep Space Nine that she also slept with Daimon Tog, and I vomit in my mouth.
Tumblr media
Swipe right! We learn in “Cost of Living” that Lwaxana has gotten engaged to Campio, whom she effectively met on a dating app and whom she has absolutely no chemistry with. It strikes us as entirely out of character that she’d accept marriage to someone who wouldn’t allow her to be who she intrinsically is just because he’s rich. Thank the Four Deities she found a way out of it!
Tumblr media
My name is Mud While we gave Lwaxana credit for spending more time with Alexander and treating him better than Worf ever does, we have to admit that the jacuzzi scene in “Cost of Living” is off-putting. Sure, it’s the future and we know that in Betazoid culture, nudity is entirely normal, but we’re still not sure it’s something Alexander is accustomed to or had any ability to consent to and that’s weird.
Tumblr media
The worst thing that can happen to any parent This is a complicated one because it’s so triggering. I’m not sure it would be fair to blame Lwaxana or anyone for the accident that befell Kestra as we learn in “Dark Page,” but it’s very clear that Lwaxana blames herself. This is truly the lowest her character had ever been, and it explains a few things about how she so tightly latches on to Deanna, but it is a bad, bad time for her.
Tumblr media
Bad thoughts, they hurt her What’s more accurate to say about the events from “Dark Page” is that Lwaxana had handled her trauma in an ultimately poor way. By blocking those memories as evidently Betazoids do with triggering events, she never was able to mourn or accept the loss of Kestra, instead avoiding the memories entirely in a way that turned out to be harmful to her and not fair to her late daughter’s memory.
Tumblr media
Does no one understand quarantine procedures? I’ll nitpick about it every time some disease breaks out in an episode and no one seems to understand you shouldn’t go around touching everyone around them. So when Lwaxana has Zanthi Fever in “Fascination” and suddenly her horniness becomes contagious, I’m doubly pissed off because it resulted in a really, really stupid premise for an episode.
Tumblr media
What I’d mistaken for love was nothing more than a prison After we mentioned just now when Lwaxana leapt at the chance to marry Campio in “Cost of Living,” we see she’s made the same mistake with Jeyal in “The Muse,” except now there’s a baby involved. The most irritating facet of Lwaxana’s personality is how man-hungry she always seems to be. It always clouds her perception, making her make bad decision after bad decision, and worse: making her compromise who she is.
Give it up for Majel Barrett Roddenberry, who could really do it all. Stick around next week for more kickass recurring characters on the Enterprise-D, and for our continued ride through the series Enterprise over on SoundCloud or wherever you podcast. You can also send us love notes over on Facebook and Twitter, but stop marrying every eligible dude you meet!

𝐃𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐘𝐮𝐫𝐚- A special day
Tumblr media
Hello hello hello to everyone!!! Exciting news, everybody! Oh my godddd σ(≧ω≦*)
As many of you guys know, I've been dating this amazing human being that my boyfriend is for two years now! It's been a whole ride, of the best kind, but still a ride. So many memories, so many new things, learning and growing and adapting... He's been with me throughout some messy times, walking beside me every step of the new ways I took. Encouraging me and being such an amazing support for me... He's had his times, too, and I might not have been as amazing as he was, but I know I've tried my best to give back every bit of energy and love and care he's given me and continues to do so.
And man, oh man, am I excited, thrilled, delighted to announce...

Ah!!! I don't even know what to make of this post! I'm just so over the moon! He planned a whole trip, took me to a beautiful island for our anniversary, took care of every detail to make it perfect- God, he even forgot his speech and it was still incredible just as he is. I'm still a bit shocked and dumbfounded by it all, but am I SO thrilled for what's to come!
I think we all dream at some point about the love of our lives, our perfect half. We dream of who they'll be, how they'll be. We dream of their looks, and their personality, and what we want them to exist as. We make up this imaginary person that's just perfect for us, and even if eventually we kind of grow up to understand we'll never meet someone like our dream person, that this person doesn't exist! We still tend to compare our parters to them. Have them up to this made-up standard... That is, of course, until you meet someone WAY better than you could've ever imagined.
And god, isn't it just so perfect?
When I met San, I think it was knowing right away and deep down. I knew right away that whatever I had dreamed of my whole life and thought I wanted wasn't really what I craved and deserved. It was clicking right away and realizing that all my life, I had been looking for something, searching for someone who wasn't what I needed. Knowing deep down that it was him and no one else, ever.
And here we are, whatever time later, one carrot cake, countless chocolate ones, millions of cupcakes, and all the horror movies in the world later... And I wouldn't wish to be anywhere else but beside him.

(This is long, sorry) I'm biased, but Sams definitely earned her way there. I'm so glad Hayes gave her a look before the Olympics, and she was clearly impressed. Said Sams was one of the best defenders in the NWSL and caught on quickly during NT training, and I couldn't agree more. As we saw against Portland last week, she is a huge reason why Orlando's defense has been so stellar this year. No offense to Moorhouse, but Sams makes her look better than she actually is. Sams always knows where to be and when. She covers a lot of ground, too. Anytime Carrie Lawrence is on that field, Sams is pulling double duty (had to get my shot in, sorry). Though she was a rookie CB last year, it felt like she was a veteran back there and was one of few bright spots. Well deserved ROTY nomination.
She's also an option at OB since she has played there for Orlando this season. Though she said she's not really comfortable being so high up the field, she scored a goal with her one shot on target all season lol. She's not the youngest, either, but in terms of performance, she's done more than enough for club. I'm ready to see what she can do at the international level. I agree and think McKeown should get a look over Gaetino, especially considering her amazing progress as a CB after converting from FW. The CB pool is deep for the NT, there's no need to call in players sitting on the bench for club because you like PSG, Hayes 😒
THIS is what I’m looking for in terms of player arguments for newbies.

Two episodes in. I was watching on my computer so I did skim some of episode 2. I’m watching this half-jokingly I can do what I want.
Episode 1: A Shadow of the Past
Little girl Galadriel made a swan boat. That’s so kinslaying-core.
Finrod needs to be much scruffier. Is he the only sibling they had the rights to?
“we had no word for death” - no, you do girlie. Miriel’s dead and elves got murdered by Morgoth back in middle earth.
the fight choreography is bad.
THE PILE OF SKULLS FROM NIRNAETH ARNOEDIAD! Censored to helmets lol.
scratches on Finrod’s corpse??? werewolf scratches?
Galadriel as vengeful warrior is different, and I assume we aren’t getting Celeborn until later then, but I don’t hate it. I especially like that she’s been given some of the trauma that she understandably would have.
eLROND! writing dramatic prose, as he should.
I mean, the Noldor can leave for the west whenever they want. Staying is an act of rebellion. This is the opposite of how it works.
oh so they’re giving this random elf ranger a love interest but there’s no Celeborn? um actually Idril and Tuor were fine! and Beren and Luthien were also fine after dying! Get the girl, elf ranger. It’ll be fine.
COW OOZE? I guess the corrupting power of darkness is super literal here.
CELEBRIMBOR’S YOUR COUSIN! YOU ALREADY KNOW EACHOTHER! If you know Galadriel, you should know him.
Overall points.
I don’t understand why Hobbits (harfoots) are here beyond brand recognition, but looking at them objectively I kind of like them. The little speech about nomadic life and safety was nice, especially when the hobbits we see in the third age are nothing if not protective of their stuff.
Traumatized Warrior!Galadriel would have been an amazing character choice for literally any other Noldor. Galadriel’s whole thing is that she runs from the fights to go sit in the woods somewhere. Her problem should be isolation and survivors guilt, not what she has here. Once again looking at it objectively without knowledge of Celeborn, it’s a pretty good concept and the execution is working so far.
Idk about the pacing? There were weird fight scenes as though the crew knew they were doing too much standing and talking, but the fights weren’t good.
Episode 2: Adrift
(Okay so I accidentally clicked “next episode” twice and skipped the recap so I watched a few minutes of episode 3 without realizing. This is a Bad sign about what happens in episode 2)
I don’t think the Valar would send Gandalf here in a meteor, but I guess they did drop him naked on a mountaintop after killing a balrog.
Arondir deserves better than a stock romance plot line. Is getting captured by orcs better? For the plot, yes. For him, no.
Feanor mention!! Poor Celebrimbor. He sure is going to sacrifice…
CB is supposed to be friends with the dwarves! he shouldn’t need Elrond here. Good to see Elrond getting the respect he deserves though. I like the dwarf designs and vibes a lot.
This episode was worse.  Galadriel is rapidly losing the goodwill I had for her at the beginning. I know the man turns out to be Sauron but i’m already annoyed by their antics. I want Celeborn instead. I am also not having a great time with the Harfoot antics.

@/iMiaSanMia: Julian Nagelsmann: "Ilkay Gündogan remains captain. But Manu's word will continue to have weight. The captain is intended to be a contact point for his teammates. Players should feel like they have a leader in their ranks. He’s a representative of the team"
On Hummels being dropped: Mats hasn’t played as much recently as before. We now have a different system and one less centre-back. There are currently other players there. I don't see Mats as the ideal choice. It’s not always just about finding the best players, but perhaps simply the most suitable ones.
On who will start in goal in the next two games: We will have a conversation with both of them [Neuer and ter Stegen] - and then decide.
On dropping Goretzka: The decision was not between Pavlović and Leon. Leon's last few games have been much better, that's right. It's about finding the right players for the roles, I see other players ahead at the moment. We had others in mind. Through very good performance and an understanding of the role, the door is not closed. It wasn’t a pleasant conversation [with Goretzka], as you can imagine, but you have to make decisions.
On Pavlović: He has shown very strong performances recently. He was one of the best players at Bayern. Of course this was not a political decision. We didn't have to convince him. That was the consequence of the performance principle. We'll see whether it'll be enough for the Euros. He talks in the dressing room and doesn’t hide despite his young age.
On his future: I currently have a contract with the DFB until after the European Championships. I don't have any other contract available. My full focus is on the European Championships and the national team.
But, Nagelsmann is definitely thinking about his future: I would advise that to anyone whose contract is about to expire.
On Thomas Müller: He’s been playing a lot recently. He knows what his role is, he knows what importance he can have in each role. Thomas could also settle for a spot off the bench. He already knows the role at FC Bayern. Thomas is a player who also has a role off the pitch. He is an intelligent player who doesn’t focus on himself but on the team.
On Kroos' comeback: He is very important, but also not the sole savior. He knows what he can do. On the other hand, he also knows what he can't do. He has a very good instinct, a good calmness. He can be a brilliant link between defense and attack. There is always this expression in Germany “Querpass-Toni” [sideways pass Toni] - Anyone who says that knows nothing about football. I'm extremely happy that after many conversations I persuaded him to come back. I give him credit for that.
On 4 Stuttgart players called up: That’s also momentum. This year they are doing very, very well. I could have called two or three more from VfB. Waldemar Anton is a very good defender, also with an offensive urge. He won't demand to play every game from the start, but he'll still give it his all. Maxi Mittelstädt is currently the most stable left-back in the Bundesliga. Statistically speaking, he is by far the best left-back in the Bundesliga. Chris Führich is an extremely valuable player, with 1v1 and good finishing, that can be key if we need a goal. Deniz Undav has a great ability to read spaces. He runs a lot, is hard-working and has a good nose for goal.
On Jan-Niklas Beste: He can play an offensive role but also at the back and can play left-back without any problems. Plus he is an exceptional set piece taker. He deserved the nomination with the goal involvments he has.
Nagelsmann says Rüdiger and Tah will be the starting CB duo: Toni and Jona are initially the starters in central defense. They can confirm this through good performances.
On BVB players (except Füllkrug) being dropped: The assessment is not always about talent. I spoke to Edin (Terzic) and Sebastian Kehl on the phone, I can imagine that neither of them are happy. I think other players have better momentum. Everyone knows what it will take to get back in. From the discussions we had, they know what is missing so that they can be called up for the Euros. The player decides at the end. I’m just the executive body. Julian Brandt was a tough decision, Führich probably has the better momentum at the moment.

CBS Ghosts Review: Isaac's Wedding
I specifically remember telling a Nonnie that I didn't think the stripper would be a big problem but turns out he wasn't NOTHING (at least in the context of Nisaac.) I love how they made him absolutely everything Isaac could want in a man INCLUDING hating Hamilton and having no sense of smell (which is why I was really rooting for him to die and become a ghost because it would have been just perfect for Isaac.)
I know Nisaac was the big point of the episode and the main gay rep for the show but I really like that Isaac was showing interest in someone else too so they didn't go through with the wedding. Was the timing perfect? No. But ever since the Christmas episode when Nigel slept with Jenkins based off like a one day estrangement and constantly let the man lurk in the background without being firm about where they were, I've soured on Nisaac at least where Nigel is concerned, so the thought that someone could be so perfect for Isaac as he is made me so happy (plus I like the idea of Isaac being willing to explore the dating pool instead of just marrying the first guy who wants to because he's afraid he'll never find anyone else.) He deserves better than that, and both he and Nigel deserve better development so they have a deeper, richer story, which is why I'm glad the writers took the chance and didn't go through with the wedding, even though it would have been good for representation. They built up a reason in the story why there shouldn't be a wedding so it wasn't just for shock value, allowing both our men to grow as people.
Now...the same cannot be said for our would-be throple: it took all of two seconds for them to put Thor and Flower back together again and I am not happy about it because the way they're writing it just allows the romance (which is written in a way that doesn't fit either Flower or Thor's characters at all and consumes them at the expense of the family and friendship connections that make both lovable and enjoyable to watch.) I can only hope that now that they've said "I love you" and seem to be on stable relationship ground, they'll start to make them more compelling.
My favorite part of the episode was definitely Pete on the island. I definitely felt the happiest I've ever felt watching him on this show so far. Donna was absolutely perfect for him: they were from around the same time, they found one another attractive, she found his goofy way of flirting ("My wife is terrible, I'm single") sweet and endearing and really got into his water-rafting role play without treating it like something silly or him like some sort of a dork and that's the kind of relationship he deserves. I was literally so sad when he started to disappear and the only way to fix it was to go back to a place where he isn't as appreciated as he should be and has to do all the work to make things peaceful and happy.
His speech at the wedding was so nice and so real, and I love that it was what made Isaac realize that there was more out there for him. No one thinks anything he says is that sort of meaningful, so that was nice...even if it did ruin things for Isaac and Nigel, but at least Nigel seems to have taken it well. (And I'm glad that even though it's weird, Baxter has Carol. He's been a third wheel in the shed for too long.)
And then we get to Patience: I love hearing Flower talking about her and how she was built up. (Also Thor and Nancy's "Just smile and nod" as she talked.) The first time I watched the episode, I didn't see the figure of Patience with her face obscured by her bonnet so that was creepy the second time around. And when she finally kidnapped Isaac, aided by the basement ghosts, that was the creepiest "God bless you" before he was grabbed that I've ever heard, but I loved Nancy's "let's not tell anyone about this: it's not a good look for us."
It's good payback for the ways Isaac's choices have affected other people and I can't wait to see what happens to him next!
Well, that's it, folks! The last review of CBS Ghosts season 3. It had highs and lows but there are definitely several eps that I will add to my rewatch list as we wait for a full season four (which I will also review when it premieres this fall.)
Cheers and happy Ghosts watching, everyone! :)

Vampire Chronicles Book Review/Rant #2
The Vampire Lestat
I think we can all agree, what a turnaround! So completely different from IWTV. I’m not sure what I was expecting, probably something more like a Midnight Sun (Twilight from Edwards’ perspective) or a Slayer Chronicles (to the Vladimir Tod series) Turned out to be more of The Saga of Larten Crepsley (to the CIrque du Freak series)(I was raised by vampire books, apparently).
Anyway, what a ride! About halfway through I was feeling a little frustrated that we hadn’t gotten to when he met Louis yet, but I was also having so much fun reading about this Chaos BisexualTM. So much happens, so many dumb Lestat adventures, Nicki, Lestat’s turning, Gabrielle, Armand and his coven, Marius, Akasha and Enkil, Louis and Claudia, Rockstar music video films, vampires ablaze out of nowhere! 10/10 Romp, I had so much fun reading this.
Lestat is so many things, he’s cheery and determined to brighten the day of those he loves, he’s been beaten and abused by his own family, he hopes and dreams like any young person, yet also deeply fears the meaninglessness of life itself. I can for sure relate.
I also enjoyed the way it was written, easy and lighthearted, even in darker parts Lestat describes things with humor to mask the pain.
Favorites:
I appreciate when Lestat takes the time to describe the wonders of the modern world, what stands out to him, what doesn’t. He’s blown away by film, excited by women in bare arms, that even poor people could eat meat. In later books he’s so excited by pens that can write forever. Super interesting to think about, and the though experiment of “what would a vampire think of world through the ages” is one of my favorite things about vampire media.
Lestat and Nicki’s relationship is so cute! Their drunken afternoons in “the conversation,” they take turns comforting each other from their familial demands and expectations. They go to Paris and live in a shitty apartment while they work their asses off in the theater trying to pay rent. It’s almost like a CBS sitcom, but like, in a good way. It’s so devastating to me that Vampire Nicki ended up like he did.
Gabrielle, my love! What a queer icon. She cuts her hair, wears men’s clothes, even Lestat gets in on it, trying to find her the manliest jewelry. I think about the freedom female vampires must experience in this series a lot. Gabrielle clearly hated being a mom and wife and living in a crumbling castle. And now she is finally free, freer than any of her wildest fantasies.
When Lestat asks her if she had become a vampire first, wouldn’t she also send money and gifts to the family and keep caring for them, and she’s just like, oh psssh yeah, of course 😂
Armand/Lestat being worsties.
Marius spending eons hiding Those Who Must Be Kept only to pick up Lestat, go: I like ya kid, you got spunk, let me spill all the vampire secrets. Only for the Most Special BoyTM
When we FINALLY get the 3 whole paragraphs about Louis and Claudia at the end of the book, it’s not enough, but what is there is lovely. “Even in his crudest moments, Louis touched the tenderness in me” “But I loved him, plain and simple” UGH, Anne PLEASE.
Least Favorites:
Why did Lestat slip his mom the tongue 😭
Not enough Louis 😡 (Little did I know there would only be crumbs of him from then on)
Vampire Nicki 😣 He hated Lestat in the end and then Armand cut his hands off! He deserved better.
Smutt:
Nicki and Lestat getting drunk and making out at the tavern! Love that for them.
I am NOT counting Lestat/Gabrielle kisses.
If I missed something maybe y’all can let me know.
Nonsense Meter:
Medium nonsense, I think. Especially considering the books to come.
Lestat flying and SCREAMING at the Theater. Lestat showing up to the catacombs to utterly destroy the cult with facts and logic and “New evil for a new era.” Lestat giving into the intrusive thoughts to kiss Akasha and play her the violin only to nearly get killed by Enkil, and OF COUSE, the whole Rockstar Lestat thing, with the music videos and the song lyrics and the Halloween concert.
Misc:
It was Marius’s fault for sending Lestat to go live a human life! Thank you/goddamn you.
I am confused by how at the start of the book Lestat is interested in rock, he goes to jam with Satan’s Night out and loves the attention that would come with being a rockstar, but it’s only after he reads IWTV and gets all upset about it that he decides he’s going to get Louis’s attention by becoming a world-famous rockstar. “I ached for him, ached for his romantic illusions [...] his physical presence.” But once Louis does find Lestat, not much happens.
I was so excited for the reunion once Louis find’s Lestat and his band chilling before the concert, would they fight?! Would they make out?! And it was. . .ok, Louis tries to warn Lestat, and they dance around their feelings, and that’s kind of it. Lestat doesn’t even ask about the book!
Then I was excited that Gabrielle (post-concert disaster rescue) got to meet her shit son’s ex-husband! Was she going to be disapproving (no one is good enough for her boy), furious about the release of IWTV, or maybe try to convince them to give up mortal world shenanigans and go climb waterfalls with her? Nope, we got nothing, just wondering if it was Marius setting all the fledglings on fire. Anne . . . I don’t get it.

CBS Ghosts - Pilot - Ghosts on the Accident
OOOOH the reaction to Sam’s accident.
Please note, some of my commentary mentions things for throughout both seasons of the show so far.
Gifs and discussion below.
Tumblr media
Okay - when did the ghosts gather?  When Jay went running out of the room?  When the ambulance showed up?  When?  Also, is Alberta missing in this scene?  Is Sass?  How ARE THEY NOT THERE?  Like this is a BIG EVENT - ALL of the ghosts should be there.
ANYWHO.
It’s AMAZING how attached Hetty became in just a short while to Sam.  She went from “ew I hope we’re not related” to “Eh, she’s nice” to “How dare you murder my kin - I love her” real fast.
I can’t believe she accuses Trevor of murder though - Trevor is NOT the murdering kind, Hetty.  Literally, Alberta has buried bodies, Flower has chased down runners, Thor’s an actual murderer, and big spoilers here: your son (should be grandson) murdered one of your own and you’re accusing him without letting him explain???? RUDE.
Side note, Pete raised his hands to stop her and potentially step in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I LOVE that Trevor defends himself.  He looks SO YOUNG and AFRAID, but like he does with the ‘embarrassment’ conversation - he stands up for himself.  He just wanted to beat the vase - he wasn’t thinking about Sam or anyone else getting hurt.  He just wanted to win - and he would never hurt anyone.
This moment right here is when it became clear that Trevor was far too innocent (might not be the right word) and kind to really be the image he projects.
Poor kid.
Also, one thing to note - I think he’s afraid that he might’ve caused Sam to die young because he absolutely reliving his own death.  As the most recently dead, there’s no way that he’s not flashing back to his death.
OMG that makes Hetty accusing him of murder & the situation where everyone’s looking at him like he’s guilty SO MUCH WORSE.
For some reason, I don’t have a gif of Pete saying that he’s right and defending him, but I know he did it and I’m SO GLAD that Trevor has back up because no one else was going to give him the benefit of the doubt and that just bites.
Trevor deserves better.
Tumblr media
Okay - when did Jay change?  Did he leave Sam to change?
Also, Thor - Husband guy = sad, of course he is!  Sam’s nearly dead and might not make it!  Why wouldn’t he be sad.
Tumblr media
OOOOh - Isaac makes a good point - they fought over this dumbass rundown house and he would feel SO GUILTY if she didn’t make it.  Like fighting over the house and then she dies - ouch.  Anyway, I can’t imagine how terrified Jay is right now.
Side note - what did the ghosts in the shed/basement think about these events?
Poor Jay.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love this tidbit about Flower.  We learn right away that she cares deeply for Ira and that he was WITH her when she ‘wandered over to the property’.
Also, it’s so weird how connected she is to Ira only for her to later say ‘she’s got commitment issues, man’.
Side note, she tries to cover up Ira’s feelings for her with “also, bear.”  So...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, we learn something about Pete, too.
A) Married to Carol
B) Fought with her the day he died.
Pete looks so chill talking about the fight with Carol and just sitting there like... life lesson quietly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
OMG this Speech about how you never know when the last moment is going to be and how important it is.  And it’s SO GOOD seeing Sam&Jay - particularly Jay as Jay goes through hell watching her go through all these things and just HOPING that she makes it through.
Side note - obviously, it’s the show so they wouldn’t hire Jay’s parents/sister for this one scene, but with knowing that ALL Bela did was send some flowers, I have to wonder if he went through this alone?  Because they could’ve just mentioned his family supporting him in through this.
In fact, based off the off-hand remarks about the money, I assume that his parents were less than supportive - I really, really want more on that.
Poor Jay, though.
ANYWAY, that’ll come later.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
OOOOOKAYYYYYY.  So, Pete ruins a fantastic speech by remembering what the fight was about - which that’s one of the dumbest fights to have and not resolve.
This tells us ALOT about Carol/Pete - they fought about something small, didn’t bother to make up and then he died.  He says he thinks that she did it to spite him because ‘she didn’t even like donut holes’, and we know she was cheating, but you have to wonder - how did they get there?  How did a 16 year marriage get to that kind of place?
Also, knowing what we know about Pete ‘taking it’, I wonder if they both had like a score card?  I wonder when things fell apart?  I wonder if Carol was as hurt that Pete died after such a pointless fight?  I really want to know.
Tumblr media
OOOOOOH, Side note - is this the only time Hetty uses a shortened name?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
LOL - Pete’s just like “Okay, calm down - anyway, life is precious” like he didn’t just spaz about donut hole fights.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
LMAO - what an ending - Thor is like “Donut holes?”  and Pete is just like “It’s - well, nothing...”
Still, this scene gave us good info on Trevor, Pete, and Flower - the youngest ghosts whose deaths are the closest all have stronger reactions to what happened.
Pete & Flower talking about their deaths in some detail.
Trevor looks white as a sheet, very freaked out in the beginning about possibly causing Sam’s death.  He absolutely doesn’t want someone to be dead because of him.  Poor Trev has been through it.
Thanks for reading :). Feel free to chat about it.

Media Blitz, Day Two.
October 8, 2024
Robert B. Hubbell
Kamala Harris and Tim Walz both sat for an interview with CBS 60 Minutes, which aired on Monday evening. Both acquitted themselves well and succeeded in communicating campaign message points with discipline and earnestness. Still, I found the interviewer’s style annoying and off-putting. My annoyance arises from the media’s ongoing inability to acknowledge the unique depravity and menace posed by Trump while pretending as though the traditional etiquette of media coverage of campaigns applies to Harris and Walz but not to Trump.
It is fair to ask pointed questions of candidates who appear on 60 Minutes—as interviewer Bill Whitaker did on many occasions. What is unfair is to conduct an interview as if the appearance by Harris and Walz is inherently equivalent to the no-show interview by Trump. The distinction that needed to be drawn by 60 Minutes was not that Harris and Walz showed up while Trump and Vance did not. 60 Minutes should have communicated that Trump / Vance are not traditional candidates running on policy positions but are instead running to end democracy and overturn constitutional order.
Once that framework is established—rational policies vs. end of democracy—then go ahead and grill the candidates about their rational policies. But don’t pretend that the insufferable attempts at “gotcha” questions directed to the rational candidates have any relevance in a race where the opposing side seeks to end democracy. How hard is that?
And yet, the media simply cannot tear itself away from imposing the “normal world of politics” framework on Harris and Walz while proving itself incapable of presenting Trump and Vance as antidemocratic agents who seek to dismantle the very system they are exploiting in their attempt to gain power. See, e.g., NPR, Harris is pressed for more specifics in a wide-ranging interview with '60 Minutes'.
NPR and the rest of the media are pummeling Kamala Harris to offer more specifics about economic policies while Trump is angling to become dictator for life and turn the DOJ into a paramilitary political hit squad. Those two things are not alike and do not deserve to be treated with equal dignity.
But here we are. Kamala Harris and Tim Walz sat for interviews and gave good answers. I have summarized the interview below. You can click on the blue hyperlinked text to view the portion of the interview relating to the topical summary. I have included summaries of notable answers. The entire interview is here: Kamala Harris: The 2024 60 Minutes Interview.
Middle East war / October 7 In response to question about whether we have a reliable ally in Prime Minister Netanyahu, Kamala Harris said, “The better question is whether we have an important alliance between the American and the Israeli people. And the answer to that is, ‘Yes.’” [The quotations are my real-time notes and should not be relied up as word-for-word quotes. See the video and transcript if you intend to quote Harris or Walz.]
The economy, price of groceries, home ownership, and how to pay for assistance to the middle class. Notable answer: How are you going to pay for your proposals? “I am going to make sure that the richest among us pay their fair share of taxes. It is not right that teachers, firefighters, and nurses pay a higher share of their earnings in taxes than do billionaires.”
Voters say that don’t know you. Notable answer: “It’s an election. I take seriously that I have to earn everyone’s votes.”
Critics say you change your positions so frequently they don’t know what you stand for. Notable answer: “For the last four years, I have traveled the US and listened to the American people. I am seeking common ground. I am looking for consensus to find what we can do together without compromising our values.”
Immigration.  Why didn’t the administration take steps in 2021 to stem illegal immigration? Notable answer: “The first bill we proposed was to fix our broken immigration system and we needed Congress to act. It did not. Fast forward to 2024; we had a bipartisan bill that was going to pass and Donald Trump told his party to kill it because he would rather run on a problem than have a solution.”
What do you say to millions of people who support Donald Trump after you have called him a racist? “Most reasonable people have said that the things he says are just wrong. People want a leader who is not trying to divide us.”
On the road segment with Liz Cheney supporting Kamala Harris.
War in Ukraine. Notable answer: “I would not meet with Putin without Ukraine being at the table. If Donald Trump were president, Putin would be sitting in Kyiv today. Trump's “resolution” is surrender.”
Gun ownership. Notable answer: “I own a Glock and have for some time. Why? I have a background in law enforcement.”
In a short segment on Tim Walz, Whitaker mouthed right-wing attacks on Walz’s credibility as though minor inconsistencies in personal recollections from thirty years ago are on the same scale as “The election was stolen from me.”
From the Walz segment:
Tim Walz / Misrepresentations about record. Notable answer: “People know who I am and know the difference between someone getting carried away with the emotion of a story and being a pathological liar.”
Tim Walz / Trump claims you are a radical. Notable answer: “Trump may be referring to the fact that our children get breakfast and lunch in school so that they can learn. He may be talking about the fact that we have a paid family leave policy that was promoted by the business community. Trump spends his time tearing down states rather than lifting up the best of what they do. I am waiting for Trump's solutions . . .”
Tim Walz / Calling Republicans weird. Notable answer: “They are making up stories about immigrants eating cats and dogs. That is beyond weird. It is dehumanizing. Let’s debate policy.”
Kamala Harris / What do you make about the fact that Trump did not appear for a 60 Minutes interview. Notable answer: “If you want to know who Donald Trump is, go to one of his rallies. He talks only about himself and his grievances. He does not talk about the people attending the rally. The American people are ready to turn the page.”
All in, it was a successful appearance by Harris and Walz. Expect critics to complain that Kamala Harris has failed to addressed specifics of her economic policies or that voters don’t “know” Kamala Harris. Those are excuses by lazy journalists who can’t be bothered to write about the stakes of the election and “undecided” voters who are ashamed to say that they are voting for Trump.
Kamala and Tim cannot be detained by such disingenuous criticisms. The fact that the major media is miffed that Harris is doing an end run around their self-appointed DC beltway gatekeeping function is of little concern. Harris and Walz must concentrate on turning out voters who support them or oppose Trump—which is exactly what they are doing!
