Guide to Assi Ghat Varanasi Aarti Timings and Kashi Vishwanath Mandir
Assi Ghat, one of the most revered ghats in Varanasi, is a place where peace and spirituality combine. Witnessing the holy Aarti rite conducted here is an amazing scene. For tourists hoping to see this holy ritual, knowing the Assi Ghat Varanasi Aarti time is important. This guide will make sure you have a meaningful spiritual experience in Varanasi by giving you all the important details about Assi Ghat, its Aarti timings, and the adjacent Kashi Vishwanath Mandir.
The Essence of Assi Ghat Varanasi
At the point where the Assi River and the Ganges meet in the southernmost point of the city is Assi Ghat Varanasi. This ghat has great religious significance because it is thought that the Ramcharitmanas was written by the legendary poet Tulsidas there. From sunrise till sunset, pilgrims are taking holy dips, carrying out rituals, and asking for blessings at the ghat, which is a hive of activity. Assi Ghat is a popular destination for both locals and visitors because of its tranquil the environment, which provides the ideal setting for contemplation and meditation.
The Sacred Banaras Assi Ghat Aarti
Every day, the mesmerizing Aarti ritual at Banaras Assi Ghat attracts hundreds of devotees and visitors. Two times a day, at sunrise and sunset, the devotional song known as the Aarti is performed, followed by the waving of lit lamps. Usually, the evening Aarti starts at 6:30 PM, while the morning Aarti starts at approximately 5:00 AM. But depending on the season, these times may change somewhat. Getting there early guarantees you a prime location to take in the memorable event.
Priests dressed in traditional garb sing songs and prayers during the Aarti, creating a sacred and peaceful atmosphere. The experience is dreamlike due to the timing of the rhythmic chants, the scent of candles, and the sight of the flickering lighting on the river. This ceremony is a must-attend event for anybody visiting Varanasi, as it represents the purifying of the mind and soul.
Exploring Kashi Vishwanath Mandir
No visit to Varanasi is complete without paying homage to the Kashi Vishwanath Mandir, one of the most sacred temples in Hinduism. Located just a short distance from Assi Ghat, this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, the presiding deity of the city. The Kashi Vishwanath Mandir stands as a beacon of faith and devotion, attracting millions of pilgrims from across the globe.
The temple's history dates back to ancient times, with numerous reconstructions and renovations over the centuries. The current structure, built in 1780 by Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar, features a magnificent gold-plated spire, earning it the nickname "Golden Temple." The temple complex houses several smaller shrines dedicated to various deities, making it a hub of religious activities.
Visiting the Kashi Vishwanath Mandir requires adhering to certain protocols. Devotees are required to dress modestly and undergo a security check before entering the premises. The temple is open from 4:00 AM to 11:00 PM, with specific hours allocated for different rituals. Participating in the Mangala Aarti, which takes place early in the morning, is considered highly auspicious. It's advisable to check the official website or contact the temple administration for the latest timings and guidelines.
How to Reach Assi Ghat and Kashi Vishwanath Mandir
Varanasi is well-connected by air, rail, and road, making it accessible from major cities in India. The Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport is about 25 kilometers from the city center, with regular flights to and from major Indian cities. Varanasi Junction and Manduadih Railway Station are the primary railway hubs, connecting Varanasi to various parts of the country.
Once in Varanasi, you can hire a taxi, auto-rickshaw, or cycle-rickshaw to reach Assi Ghat and Kashi Vishwanath Mandir. The city's narrow lanes can be a bit challenging to navigate, so it's often best to explore on foot or by cycle-rickshaw for an authentic experience. Many local guides offer walking tours that cover major ghats and temples, providing deeper insights into the city's spiritual and cultural heritage.
Tips for a Memorable Visit
Timing is Everything: Knowing the Assi Ghat Varanasi Aarti time and the temple's ritual schedule will help you plan your visit better.
Dress Appropriately: Wear modest clothing that covers your shoulders and knees. This is important for both the Aarti at Assi Ghat and visiting Kashi Vishwanath Mandir.
Stay Hydrated: Carry a bottle of water, especially if you plan to explore the ghats and temples on foot.
Respect Local Customs: Be mindful of the religious practices and customs. Photography may be restricted in certain areas, especially inside the temple.
Stay Safe: Keep your belongings secure and be cautious of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas.
Conclusion
A trip to Kashi Vishwanath Mandir and Assi Ghat Varanasi gives a deep spiritual experience, blending the holy aura of one of Hinduism's holiest temples with the peace of the Ganga. Knowing the time of the Assi Ghat Varanasi Aarti allows you to experience the mesmerizing ceremony that reflects Varanasi's spiritual soul. Discovering the holy Kashi Vishwanath Mandir strengthens this bond and leaves you with enduring recollections. The trip to Varanasi is sure to bring you calm and enlightenment, regardless of whether you are a pilgrim seeking blessings or a tourist searching for a distinctive cultural experience.

I've actually never seen or heard of Space Dandy, is it worth the watch? What is it even about?
Oh geeze... you just had to ask me that...
So Space Dandy is about a Dandy guy...in space. There is not a really over arching plot until teh very end and I cant tell you what it is because it will spoil it.
But basically it is about a bounty hunter in space. It was written by the same guy who made Cowboy Bebop and takes place within the same universe a few hundred years in the future. So if you're a big fan of space westerns & Romano's voice give it a watch. Or not You'll like it even if you dislike both of these things. It's the one anime I recommend to people IRL.
He is terrible at his job but also not really. He is on the run from the police for an unknown reason which always has a major tom and jerry like vibe.
It's a pretty light hearted show a lot of the time and doesn't take itself too seriously but it has some gut wrenching one off episodes that will make you bawl your eyes out. It will also have you laughing out loud alot. I don't know why more people don't talk abut it. I know when it was airing people picked apart every episode frame by frame looking for symbolism and hidden meanings.
Each episode is animated by a different team of animators so one episode will be stylized completely different than the one before it. It's truly a work of art. Don’t even get me started on the music! You might not belive me but just watch the first few episodes. Don't stop at the first one. You'll watch teh first one and be liek "tf am i watching?" You gotta stick with it.
Everything in it is 10/10. The music, the singing, the art, the colors, the animation, characters. You will not regret it! It was the first anime ever where it appeared on American TV first before it aired in Japan a few hours later. So technically the dub is the original format. I would strongly recommend the dub if you are English speaking. Because they have a lot of song and dance numbers and jokes that just translate better. Dandy is very blatantly supposed to be American so i think ghats why they did it.
...Great than you anon now I have to start the rewatch that I was trying to avoid because I don't want to fall in love with Dandy again my little heart cant take it! If you don't fall in love with him after episode 5 if not sooner I guarantee your money back!

⁃ javert looks like a beauxbatons reject. where’s the ponytail. where’s the sideburns. this isn’t a wolf, this is a guy who read warrior cats once and now identifies with one of them (idk i haven’t read the books since elementary school)
⁃ the seggsual tenshun between a bastard police officer, his club, and the criminal he’s hunted for 14 years with single-minded homoerotic precision...
(more below the cut duh)
⁃ anne hathaway really is a fantastic fantine, good for her
⁃ got to admit, i’m not a fan of the shaky camera, except for in the riot scenes
⁃ love the aesthetics in this movie, feel less so about the costumes
⁃ ah yes we will have fantine be the only one in pink and with her hair down to signify that she is Innocent ™️
⁃ i’ve always thought this but why didn’t fantine just say that she was a widow like it’s not like anyone could prove it
⁃ i feel like switching Lovely Ladies and I Dreamed A Dream made it more powerful but i still prefer the original order
⁃ like i said, timeline is fuckt
⁃ also some of these accents are just. hard to listen to
⁃ i wish we had a movie of the original french musical
⁃ okay i love the shot of little cosette where they recreate the original poster they did a great job at casting her

⁃ let others rise to take our place until the earth is free. god damn. i fuck with that quote too hard.
⁃ CANNONS *queue that one post about the tumblr re-enacting les mis and nearly killing the window cleaner guy when she dramatically opened the windows to scream cannons*
⁃ And In That Moment They Knew. They Were Fucked.
⁃ i don’t need to see any more of my boys die explicitly but i wish we could have had prouvaire’s death scene from the brick, it was really powerful
⁃ THERES MORE MEN
⁃ let them in you HEARTLESS BASTSRDS
⁃ i could do with less time looking at pontmercy’s arse and more time watching the carnage, thanks
⁃ FEUILLY BOSSUET NO
⁃ oh god oh fuck the final four
⁃ *remembers that post i saw where people calculated how long it would have taken for them to die based on bullet angles and that joly and combeferre were both medical and had to watch each other and courfeyrac die and not be able to do anything about it *
⁃ oh god oh fuck permets-tu
⁃ if there’s one instance they could have kept the line from the book it ought to have been this one

•Well this was an interesting situation. Nightmare was face to face with someone who just fell from the sky, but was surprisingly not injured. He was on high alert, and quickly asked the being in front of him a few questions.• "Who are you, what are you, and why are you here." •The entity looked up at the black and yellow paterned Steve in front of him.• "My name is Love. I don't know what exactly I am but a lot of people are calling me a 'watcher', and I don't know why or how I'm here." •Nightmare was sceptical of the answer to the last question that the being, apparently named 'Love' gave, but didn't comfront him on anything. Love them asked a question.• "What's your name?" •Nightmare hesitated for a moment, before introducing himself as his title.• "I'm the Nightmare King." •Love looked interested at the name of the other, curiosity clearly in his eyes. "'Nightmare'..? Interesting name!" •Love then quickly asked another question.• "What's the stuff all over you?" •The pale violet haired entity's question was a good one, considering Nightmare had a almost bee like pattern of something black all over him. He quickly responded with a 'It doesn't really matter. Could I take you somewhere real quick though?", trying to lure this quite innocent being to be tested on. Love quietly whimpered at the quick response before responding.• "Yea you're right it probably doesn't matter. You wanna take me somewhere? Okay!!" •He paused for a second.• "Where though?" •Nightmare responded honestly to said question.• "My base. It isn't that far away from here." •Love perked up with curiosity again.• "Your base? Ooo okay!!!" •They slowly made their way to the bee patterned being's base, Love quietly humming a song as they went. After they arrived they pretty much immediately went in. Love looked around a bit before speaking up.• "This place is cool.. but why is it so dark?" •Love stayed quiet for a moment without answer.• "Never mind that then.." •Nightmare was excited ghat he actually managed to lure someone to be tested on, and quickly told Love to get into one of the nearby machines.• "You want me to go into this machine? Okay.. but why?" •Nightmare told Love something that was technically the truth.• "I just want to make you stronger." •Love contemplated it for a moment before complying.• "You want to make me stronger? Alright!" •He entered the machine, curious as to how this bee looking man would make him stronger. Nightmare then flicked a lever, causing darkness to merge with Love. Love felt dizzy, now struggling to keep his balance. Nightmare quietly sighed, walking over to Love and picked him up, carrying him bridal style. Love looked up at Nightmare, quietly giggling to himself.• "Bee man carrying me funny!!" •Nightmare looked at Love with confusion, before shrugging it off, continuing on his way. On the way to wherever they were going Love passed out, exhausted from the merging. They soon arrived at a large bedroom, where Nightmare set Love down on the yellow colored sheets. He laid down next to the non-steve before pulling a yellow and black comforter over the two of them. He wrapped his arms around Love before starting to drift off himself.•

11th November,2021
Sorry guys last few weeks I've been busy procrastinating, I'd try my best to keep myself motivated and Thanks for the followers 🐨🦄
So today something really greatttt happened which motivated me to write this, I'm sure I'd regret it my whole life if I'm not able to post this, So I'd try my best
HIIIIIIII,I'd try to keep it short
As you know Being it the last day of Chhath Pooja, everyone moves out early to the park, so do I got the permission to sneak out of the house pretty early around 2 a.m. under the disguise of festive occasion. Fortunately Everyone among our friend circle (*it'd not be appropriate to call it a circle let's call it friends triangle) also got the permission to move out at 2 a.m. and one of my friend got his boombox and started playing songs midnight (It was the first time for all 3 for us to be going out this pretty early) and we were pretty afraid as well while enjoying as the volume intensity was pretty high, we moved ahead on our way to the Marine drive and walked more than 10000 steps, 5 KM by and it was not 4 a.m. yet so we turned around and decided to go to our neighborhood park and exactly at 4:04 we got into the park and blinding lights by the Weeknd started playing (everyone's crazy about that song) and it felt like a movie script fr and we were on the swing, and by 4:45, we departed for the ghat and a really unexpected thing happened, around on an estimated basis after 45 mins arriving at the ghat - My dumbass spotted my crush, she was wearing a puffer jacket (I could only had a glimpse of her as I got furious and again anxiety kicked in) so I just ran up to the way out and my friends followed me
(Let you know- my friends still have no idea why did I made them leave😂)
If you reached here, I'm really grateful of you 🍀

Met
"Good morning" I say to my live as I walk to the sliding door to get some better light. I sing along to Beautiful as it plays through the hotel room.
"Today is Met Monday and it's currently 5:45 am" I say looking at my watch.
"It's time to start the process for my outfit because it literally has to be built" I say laughing.
"The sun just rose like 2 minutes ago and I've been up for 20 minutes now so this is dedication because I’m exhausted" I say looking around.
"I'm here with my team" I say turning the camera around and everyone waves.
"They have so much energy I don't know how they do it" I say.
"It's called not being out until 2 knowing we had to be up at 5" my hair stylist says.
"Damn just expose me then" I say laughing.
"I was out simply because it's rare I get to be in New York with a bunch of other celebrities" I say.
"True" she says laying everything out.
"Did you run into Zendaya?" She asks.
"Yeah I did" I say rolling my eyes looking down.
"Hi guys. How are you this morning?" I ask responding to the hi's.
"What am I eating for breakfast. Only the best, it's Met Monday I can't do anything less" I say holding up a McDonald's bag and I start laughing.
"Sausage Egg McMuffin with egg whites is legit heaven" I say.
"Hurry up and eat so we can get started" my best friend aka my designer says and I nod.
"Okay, okay" I say sitting down and I prop up the phone.
"What am I wearing? Something so great I feel like it really fits the theme" I say answering questions as I eat my breakfast.
"Alright guys I'm ending this but be on the lookout for me on the carpet"
——
I pose as my assistant goes around in circles recording my look as they put it together. There's about 20 of us in this room working to make sure that I fit the theme of this year which is 'CAMP' "we can't be one of those celebrities that half ass the theme especially since I'm debuting my line" Lily says sticking needles to hold pieces of the dress in place.
"It's like they don't get the memo that there is actually a theme in place" I say.
"Even though they look gorgeous I prefer for them to fit the theme. Is that just me?" She asks and I shake my head.
"No, it's not just you" I say and she starts sewing the sleeves on I sing and dance to every song that comes on shuffle, her poking me a few times to calm me down but I don't stop.
"Help me I'm holding on for dear life, won't look down, won't open eyes" I sing dramatically doing different poses as I get recorded and everyone starts laughing.
"Seriously be still" she says and I stand still.
——
I get out the car and as soon as I step on the Pink carpet the flashes go off and I start walking up the carpet making sure to stop so everyone can get pictures and I run into Benedict "hey, you guys look great" I say hugging them.
"You look amazing" Sophie says hugging me back. "Where's Tom?" She asks.
"He's headed to Los Angeles for his press tour" I say.
“That sucks he couldn't be here" he says.
"I don't think he would enjoy this though it's not really his speed" I say laughing.
"Very true" Benedict says.
"Shall we get some pictures?" Sophie asks.
"Of course" I say and I stand with them smiling as the cameras go off and Sophie walks past.
"I'll see you guys inside" I say walking off after hugging them.
"Sophie" I say and she stops.
"Oh my god you look amazing" she says and I laugh and we do our handshake.
"How's that married life?" I ask.
"Better than I could have imagined, there's been problems but nothing we can't work through" she says.
"That's so good to hear, I've been meaning to text Joe but I had to replace my phone and I lost his number" I say.
"Oh I can give it to you" she says.
"Ghat would be great" I say.
"How are you and Tom?" She asks and I sigh.
"I don't really know. If I'm being honest, we've spent a lot of time together between filming infinity war, endgame and Spider-Man that I think were just happy for some time apart" I confess.
"Is that why he isn't here?" She asks.
"Yeah" I say.
"He had the day off and he was going to be my plus one and lily got him a whole outfit put together to go with mine and everything but we decided it was best if he didn't come" I say.
"You guys are going to be okay, you are always are" she says.
"Yeah that's just the thing, there's possibly another person in the picture" I say.
"Wait seriously?" She asks and I nod.
"I have to fix my lipstick so let's go and we'll talk in there" I say and she grabs my hand and we stop for pictures first and then we go to the bathroom.
"Who is it?" She asks.
"Zendaya" I say grabbing my lipstick out of my bag. "He likes Zendaya?" She asks surprised.
"Don't sound so surprised she's absolutely gorgeous" I say sighing and I have to calm myself down.
"I'm going to sound surprised because I am, are you serious" she says and I nod.
"I wish I wasn’t" I say.
"Did anything happen?" She asks and I nod.
"Why didn't you tell me?" She asks hugging me.
"Because I feel stupid, like why did I think he wanted me when he works with her" I say and the stall door opens and Zendaya walks out.
We make eye contact through the mirror and I close my lipstick shoving it into my purse and grabbing Sophie's hand pulling her out of the bathroom.

Gandhi Jayanti
Gandhi Jayanti is an annual celebration held in India on October 2nd of every year. It is a national holiday in the country that marks the birthday of Gandhi, who is called as the ‘Father of the Nation.’ The celebration of Gandhi Jayanti is an honor and tribute from the people of India to Gandhi who was an icon of the independence of India. The nation pays homage to this great legend Gandhi as a remembrance for his contributions towards the freedom struggle of India.
“Non-violence is the greatest force at the disposal of mankind. It is mightier than the mightiest weapon of destruction devised by the ingenuity of man.” – Mahatma Gandhi
History of Gandhi Jayanti
The birthday of Gandhi or Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti or Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti in India. He is also called as the Father of the Nation, Gandhiji, Gandhi, Bapu. He was born in Porbandar, a small town in Gujarat on October 2, 1869. His father was Karamchand Gandhi, and his mother was Putlibai. Gandhi attended the middle school in Porbandar and high school in Rajkot. He married Kasturba at the age of 13. Gandhi studied law in the United Kingdom and went to South Africa to practice as a lawyer. He then left his practice and returned to the homeland due to his love for his country and to fight for the freedom of his people. He was a both a political as well as the spiritual leader in India who had played a vital role in Indian Independence movement.
Gandhi Jayanti is one among the three national holidays of the country celebrated by all the people. He had given the nation and the world with the principles of truth, non-violence, and honesty. Gandhiji is an iconic figure in and around the country which is known for his unique practices of non-violence or ahimsa. He believed in “Satyagraha,” the philosophy of truth and in the power of nonviolence. He adopted these beliefs in his leadership, and it helped in achieving India’s Independence. Gandhi had a true love for both truth and duty. He proved the world that freedom could be attained through the path of non-violence which is certainly the most powerful methods of obtaining the goals. October 2nd has also been honored by United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) as the International Day of Non- Violence.
During the 1890’s, when Gandhi was in South Africa he was subjected to the injustice of the colonial imperialism in the nation. He was a victim of the racial discrimination and social bigotry. It impacted not only him but also the country which led to his social activism. In 1894, he formed the Natal Indian Congress in South Africa with the help of the Indian community. It had later, molded into an active political party in the country. In 1906, his political members involved in a peaceful protest were subjected to violent treatment by the local government, which made him formed the idea of “Satyagraha,” which means the force of truth.
When Gandhi left from Africa to India, he witnessed the same in his country. He then carried out the same to help people protest against the dominance of the British Raj. Gandhi is known for his non-violent civil disobedience in countries like India and South Africa. It included the origin of the non-cooperation movement in the year 1922 and the Salt Satyagraha, or Dandi March held on March 12, 1930. Gandhiji had not only left a tremendous impact on the nation’s revolts for freedom, but he has also debuted ideology, philosophy, charitable acts and great teachings. Through Gandhi’s efforts, India finally gained its independence on August 15, 1947.

milan hobe kotodin e? amar moner manush er e shon e
We've been here countless hours. Waiting for a time in space when our bodies exist not as properties and our love is not taken for granted
If I could see you today I'd give you a Bengali dictionary with pictures like the one you had when you were little. I'd give you a picture of me to pin under the synonyms of the word "distance." You take two gulps of regret down with your anxiety meds. If the city of Delhi were a bride she would be the one who never showed up to the wedding. Kolkata is the bride who fell in love with another man. Do the roads of Kolkata ever smile at you mockingly for never catching that train to Delhi? Do you ever feel like saying you'll wait for me? Do the crows who talked politics ever look like their politics have changed? Do they no longer touch beaks with a tender love outside your balcony? Is their love stuck in the telephone wires, entangled beyond recognition? Do you remember when you and I became a Sunday crossword puzzle and you used all the words wrong? Have you ever felt lost in translation? Do you remember more than casual conversations? Do you remember how it tasted when I poured the entirety of my heart into your cup? Do you ever bite your tongue for a taste you can remember but never had? Do you ever feel like running just so you could know me from beginning to end? Have you ever felt abandoned at the railway station by your postmaster? Did you think of me all the way on the boat when you crossed the river? Did you wait for the sun to go down that day on Ganga ghat, when you let my heart into the water? Did you give it a gentle push?
For her-
Does he still sing?
Is his voice as mellow as ever?
Is he nice to you?
What does his skin feel like?
Isn't he kind of of an ass?
Does he remind you of a 70s bollywood love song?
I hope he's kind to you.
Does he still cry into his pillow?
Please keep him warm. Leave when he doesn't do the same.
An extract from 'The postmaster', a short story by Tagore-
With an overflowing heart Ratan rushed into the room with her-
"Were you calling me, Dada?"
"I am going away tomorrow, Ratan."
"Where are you going, Dada?"
"I am going home."
"When will you come back?"
"I'm not coming back."

mournin me corners / bats & ghats / & yes, the existence of mysteries!
Righto, long time no pitter patter. Howya been?!
Once again there’s been too much in between to cover in a post and I’m sorta scratching my head wondering where to start. I just got back from a monthlong trip with Ariel and I meant to just go into that, but I guess we’re gonna have to start earlier. Last left off in August, for God’s sake… Right, and so when we got back to New York there was a period with a lot of hard work and administration and very little on the creative side. A move, too - moved apartments in September, that was a whole thing. And all the kickstarters and print proofs and mastering studios and venue haggling and spotify metrics and budget goals and facebook promotion and opening acts and venue shares and profit margins - and a whole lot of fuckin busking - yeah, and by the end of all that I felt a lot more like a salesman than a musician, I reckon. What a busy boy! Could’ve sworn I went into all this before, though.
Wait, I see - okay, so I DID write ye before I left - in fact all this time I had a nice grim post drafted and ready to go. Seems I just never got around to hitting “post”. I must’ve been busy. Anyway, look, it was all this sorta thing:
“I’ll say this: I’m sick of the grind. Writing songs, singing them - I like that. Everything else, it makes me want to flip the board. It seems I have explored every angle of the corner I’m in. It’s not a bad corner; it’s comfortable, I’m well-fed. But it’s a corner, by god, and knowing the confines of your existence is one of the most deadening things there is to know. Being familiar with the shape of the hours you have to spend. Is this what all you workin’ joes out there feel like day to day? My friends tend to make fun of me for these complaints. “Almost like having a real job, huh?” they smirk. Well, I’m not numb to it yet, so I’m running off into the jungle a while. All this time since releasing the new album I’ve been doing what you’re supposed to do as an independent musician, but it’s not what I’m supposed to do, and when you’re untrue to yourself, when you do things you don’t want to, you add to a deficit - and as that deficit grows you become more unlike yourself. And you catch yourself doing things with bad flavours - things that are harsh, rigid, proud, hurtful. This damn corner. What a sad and familiar corner. I know every nook and cranny and no mysteries. Enough. I need those mysteries. I need ghosts, I need bats in the brain. I can’t breathe without a feeling that something unasked for might happen at any moment… Okay, so find a place to be. There’ll have to be a great escape at some point, but for now we’re putting it off with a small escape. To the jungle! Take the money and run!”
Whew, poor fella. Glad I’m not me. Anyway, the verdict’s still out on whether or not it worked, but I feel a bit better, and a lot poorer, so hey, on to the next thing. And I reckon now’s as good a time as any to figure that out. Got the tail end of the winter to ride out, the sparkle of the new album’s starting to fade (though I still have plenty o records left to peddle), and all the other loose ends seem about to get tied up (notably the ill-fated Jackson Bollocks, which ended in tears after two years of preparation and only one concert). Aside from some goofy songs about sad animals I haven’t written a damn thing since god knows when and it’s high time I got back on the horse. As to ideas, I dunno. I think I’ll just turn the tap open and see what gurgles out. One idea I have been flirting with, though, is a small European tour this fall, and I’ll have to be getting on that now. You’ll always hear it here first, folks. I like you long form types. Thoughtful lot, you all are. Time on your hands. Not scrollin too hard.
The trip, the trip… Egh. Maybe I just won’t go into it. Nothing more boring than hearing about the holidays of others. Bit like how hearing other people’s dreams tends to be more boring than you’d expect. Gotta be a real doozy of a dream to hold the attention, even when it comes from someone you’re dying to understand. I reckon it’s because dreams and holidays have that parenthetical quality, existing outside of the main plots of our lives. Besides, it was all me and me lady love, and you know how yucky couples get when you leave em alone too long. Oh - that’s not true, we actually linked up with the famous William Seymour-Jones in Hanoi for a while. Hadn’t seen him in years. Still his same self, maybe even more so. Don’t wanna jinx it or anything but I worked on him a while to come to New York and I think he might even try and do it. I owe a lot to that guy.
Certain places do change ya. Varanasi was one of them. Didn’t spend enough time in India to get more than a taste, really, but there were moments of real awe. It’s such a gift to feel awe again after a long jaded spell. New ways of dealing with the dead. The sensation of a place testing you and unfolding slowly, not giving everything away, more personal than expected, being recognised by strangers, being discussed and folded in.
Anyway, the holidays of others, what? I’ll try and put it into the songs. The nifty thing about a song is if you write it right you can make it so everyone who hears it goes somewhere different. Got some notes from when I was all zonked on bhang lassi ramblin the ghats: “good song shouldnt tell clear story but give access to mysteries”
I like that! I like mysteries!
