Ask Compilation: Advice, influences and Misc.

Apologies for taking so long on some of these, admittedly I'm much more likely to entirely forget about asks that are about me and my interests 💃 Thank you for all the questions regardless! And thank you specially to everyone who just drops nice messages into my inbox out of kindness.

I'm brazillian and a native portuguese speaker!

I'll probably return to twitter eventually, but a) I hate that place and b) It didn't make much sense to me to turn it into a BG3 account out of the blue. I am considering making an Instagram or a new twitter just to have more places where people can follow in case they don't care for tumblr, but it's just been a very busy year so far and so that's kind of low on the list of priorities. If I ever do that I'll be sure to announce it here. Have a nice day yourself!

Sorry to hear that! I've gotten a few messages before about this issue, and the problem is that since I am myself not from the US, my options are also limited :( a lot of patreon alternatives don't work for me because they either don't go through paypal, take insane currency conversion fees, or just straight up block me from signing up.

Speak for yourself, I just assume everyone I speak to online has committed some sort of atrocious crime until proven otherwise. Except for me - of course. I have never done anything bad in my life.

I still have a lot to learn! But I will basically use whatever works for me at the moment, as well as make a sincere effort to learn about musculature and anatomy so I can understand those components and how they move, instead of only knowing what they look like when still - that's how you get better at drawing from memory. Volume mostly comes from coloring and understanding light, which is it's own beast but can very much be learned from similar reference materials and observing it IRL!

My favorite places to get reference are medical diagrams, weird pictures I take of myself, 3D software (often Virt-a-mate) and questionably phrased image google searches.

My favorite artists are Jason Shawn Alexander and Sean Murphy, but I'm not sure how much of it reflects in my art nowadays! I generally seek to pick up techniques from artists rather than to emulate style.

Honestly I love that you guys generally do the thing he would hate the most: take him very non-seriously LOL

I've been in a real Chelsea Wolfe and Amyl And The Sniffers kick lately! But usually you'll also find me listening to stuff like Boy Harsher, Swans, FWF, JK Flesh Lingua Ignota, Nick Cave, David Bowie, and so on. Music for the weird gays, basically.

I went insane and wrote a 23-chapter-long-and-still-ongoing fic in like four months. But also - I'm not that good, I'm just shamelessly pretentious LOL

Hm. That's a good question, but I'm not really sure. Sincerely not trying to be a edgier-than-thou here (in fact, this has made me a little self conscious at one time or another) but a lot of art that I don't mean to be horror-y in nature at all has been associated with the genre. So perhaps I don't know what I'm doing either, LOL.

I think just leaning on making things look slightly "wrong" or "ugly" on purpose is the way, but I also find that if you just seek to depict people as they are instead of idealized versions of themselves, you will arrive at that either way.

Thank you for reading! Honestly, I'm guilty of having not read much at all since I was in my late teens, and the style I'm employing for ANE is very different from the things I would call "influential" for me, or even that I used to enjoy reading at all before. I read a lot of Chuck Palahniuk as a youth (and, no slight to people who do like him still, but nowadays I'm not sure why I ever did. His stories don't speak to me at all anymore) as well a lot of weird experimental lit that I didn't even care to remember the name of. My last book stint from one or two years ago was composed solely of historical and medical literature, and last year I got really into Cormac Mcarthy thanks to the internet.

So, all in all, I'm absolutely all over the place LOL if you put a gun to my head and told me to list my favorite books, I'd say The Indifferent Stars Above and Blood Meridian.

December 2024 방탄소년단

Jin's birthday!!!! (sadly due to fatal air crash and a national week of mourning Tae's birthday posts have been postponed)

Jin has continued with Run Jin ans has gone ahead with his plot to abscond with JHope the day after discharge!!!!

Jin has also been on a variety of shows and JHope has also started to as well!

There have been a lot of awards with Right Place, Wrong Person receiving a lot of international acclaim.

Jin has continued with his comeback activities

We have also had a few lives including a lovely record breaking one by JK and a beautiful 2Seok one.

Jin has had a beautiful series of pictorials in DICON

We are now into the BTS comeback year and with just 5 months left excitement is building!!!!

I would like to say thank you to everyone who has taken the time to help support me and the site. Thank you to the people who were able to contribute to help keep the site running. I was able to pay for half the website and drive subscriptions from the donations so a massive thank you!!!!!!

Rare Pair Scramble 2024

ANS Rare Pair Scramble 2024 will run from July 28th to August 31st. So, here's a brand new event idea, that we thought would be fun! So, the Rare Pair Scramble, you must sign up for like people do for Bingo events. And when you sign up, you list five of your favorite rare pairs or ones you'd love to create stuff for, and you will get a board of seven spaces, five of which are your rare pairs and the other two are free spaces for other rare pairs you would like to create for or even create for some of those same pairings already on your board. Each spot on the board with a rare pair also has a one word prompt. An example of this could be ObiKiki with the prompt flowers, if that helps to explain it. So, you create something based off of that prompt combined with that rare pair. Everyone's board will have prompts with different rare pairs and in different orders.

The two free spaces also have prompts, but do not have specific rare pairs on it, so they instead are open for whichever rare pairs you'd like to create something with that prompt. Maybe that prompt reminds you of a rare pair you always wanted to make something for or perhaps it reminds you of one of your rare pairs that you listed.

If you do not want to list five rare pairs when you sign up, we will give you five rare pairs that are fairly popular. (If you want obscure rare pairs, you could request that too.)

You could choose to fill all of your board or only part of your board, however inspiration works and however you would like to do so.

So, sign ups begin as soon as this post is published (June 30th), so send account asks whenever you'd like after. Please no anonymous asks, because then we won't be able to give you a board. If you're on Discord, you could message one of us admins there, and we can give you a board there as well. And we will get you your board as soon as we can, which will be as soon as we have your board made. (There is over a month to create content for this event after you receive your board, and late fills are okay too.)

An example of what a board looks like is down below. Of course, your pairings and prompts will be different than the example.

I missed you

Keeping a secret from your boyfriend has never been easy. You would think now that he was in a different country, you would have it somewhat easier, but no.

He has been promoting in South Korea for their new comeback and it has been a tough few weeks to be honest. He thought he would be used to it by now but he has actually been finding it more difficult. He has been away from home for much longer, but having you waiting for him this time has made his heart hurt a bit more every night. The two of you video call every day and sometimes even multiple times a day. That's how you also picked up that he was struggling. You see, your boyfriend was never one to completely share how he was feeling so the fact that he was being so clingy, even though you didn't mind, showed you something was wrong. So you ended up messaging Euijoo and arranging to meet with them all in Korea.

"I'm so glad you are coming. Nicholas has been so difficult to deal with the last few weeks," Euijoo breathed out after the plans were settled.

"I noticed. He has been a bit off since you left actually," you said down the phone.

"He's not talking much, but I think he really needs you here."

You felt your heart melt slightly at his words. You already knew you would be struggling to hide this from him.

Time flew and suddenly you were headed to the airport to catch your flight to Seoul. You've been quieter than normal today and not messaging Nicholas as much as usual. You usually respond to him instantly, but suddenly you were taking half an hour or longer to reply. He didn't want to seem pushy so he had been letting it slide, but you knew he was noticing it. So when you suddenly felt a call come through on your phone, you knew why.

Quickly answering, you said: "Hey baby! I was just about to message you." You tried muffling the noise by covering the phone with your hand but you doubted it helped much.

"Hello? Where are you? It's very loud," you could almost hear the confusion in his voice.

"I just came to the mall. It's very busy today," you laughed out quickly, hoping he believed you.

"Really? That's weird..." he trails off.

"Can I call you when I'm home again? I can barely hear you," you huffed out as you dragged your suitcase behind you.

"Yeah, that's fine," his voice was quite the opposite from his words though. There was an immediate drop in his tone and you heard the exhausted sigh leave his mouth.

Your heart clenched as you managed to say, "I can't wait to see your face my love. Call you in a bit, okay?"

"Me too. Love you," he mumbled.

As soon as you ended the call, you heard the announcement for your flight to board. Excitement took over your face and you half-ran over to your gate.

"Hi Euijoo! I'm outside of the hotel. Can I go up to his room?"

"Y/N-ah! I'm happy to hear you're safe. Yes, he actually went to take a nap a few minutes ago so he should be there. He's been checking his phone the whole day. I think he knows something is up."

"He called me earlier so he must be upset. Did he say anything?" you said as you looked up at the hotel building.

"He didn't say anything but everyone could see something was wrong."

You quickly stuffed your phone into your pocket after saying bye to Euijoo, and made your way into the hotel. He already told you how to get to your boyfriend’s room so you made it there in record time. You breathed out once to settle your nerves before knocking softly three times

Nicholas heard a knock on his door just as he felt himself drift off to sleep. Irritated he yelled out, "Who is it?"

When no answer came, he felt his emotions build even more.

"Who is it?!" he tried again.

It pushed him over the edge when he was met with silence again. He threw the blanket off of him angrily and approached the door with heavy steps.

"I asked 'who is it' so many times! Why didn't anyone ans-" he cut his own sentence off when he opened the door to see you.

"Hi baby. I missed you so mu-"

Nicholas proceeded to cut you off as well as he pulled you into his arms and tightly against his chest.

Giggling, you mumbled against him, "I guess you missed me too, huh"

This time you didn't get an answer. A verbal one at least. You started feeling Nicholas shake against you as he cried into your shoulder, finally letting out his emotions.

"Baby? Hey, what's wrong?" you whispered as you rubbed your hands up and down his back, trying to calm him down.

"I just didn't realise how much I needed you with me until now," he sniffed, "I missed you so much."

Pulling away just enough to see his face, you smiled lightly at him. You used your thumbs to wipe the tears from his eyes as you said, "I'm sorry I was so quiet today. I wanted to keep this a surprise."

"Well you succeeded in keeping it a surprise just as much as you freaked me out," he let out a watery giggle, "but I'm so glad you are here."

"I'm here for the next three weeks though so remember saying that when you start getting tired of me."

He finally let out a real giggle as he looked into your eyes. He placed a short and soft kiss on your lips before pulling you against him again.

"Thank you for coming. I love you," he breathed out against your neck.

"I love you too Nicho."

It's been 2 weeks and it's almost Halloween so it's time to announce the winners of the spooky October caption contest!

We had a lot of submissions and they were all really good, so like last month, I'll pick 3 winners (in order) and 3 honorable mentions.

Each winner will get to choose a prize if they wish (but you don't have to, you can just participate for fun too.) Doing This Again!

Bang Chan x Reader

Warnings: ANGST! Almost cheating, Mentions of previous sexual activity, alcohol consumption. If you think I missed any warnings let me know! Fic is under the cut.

The next morning, you and Chan went to your favorite café for breakfast. You were filled with dread, because you had no idea how the conversation that you two needed to have would go. Chan, on the other hand, could barely contain his excitement and had incredibly high hopes. It might have just been a café date, but this was his chance to show you that he could be better and love you the way you deserved. Both of you ordered your usual drinks and found a place to sit.

“Should we wait for our coffee before we start talking about what happened last night?�� you asked, hoping that Chan couldn’t sense your worry.

“We probably should. If the conversation gets interrupted, we might not say what needs to be said.”

“Yeah, exactly.”

“Are you ok, (Y/N)? You seem nervous.”

“I’m ok, Channie. I always get a little worried when big conversations like this happen, but I know it needs to.”

“Whatever happens, I’m really happy that I got to see you yesterday, and that I got to hold you one more time. Even if I never get to again.”

His words made your heart melt. Before the events of the night before, you had thought that you were the only one missing your relationship with Chan. Now you knew with absolute certainty that he had missed you just as much. You really wanted to try again, but you weren’t sure that your heart could take it if the two of you split up again.

“I’m sorry, (Y/N). I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable. Are you ok?”

“Oh no, I wasn’t uncomfortable,” you quickly replied. “I was just thinking about some things.”

“What things?”

Before you could answer, the barista that had taken your order called your names. You walked in silence to get your drinks, both of you preparing yourselves for the conversation that couldn’t be put off any longer. Chan was the first to speak, asking you what specific things you wanted to address.

“Well, I’d really like to know what happened with Ryujin.”

“Nothing happened between me and her. She tried to come onto me, but I told her that I wasn’t interested. The messages saying ‘I love you’ were all sent by her, and she was the one that said that she knew I would rather be with her. But I told her immediately that it was bullshit and that the only person I wanted was you. I even went through my messages and found the conversation so I could show you that I never did anything with her.”

“Show me.”

He quickly agreed, opened his messaging app, and handed the phone to you. You read all of the messages, and everything that he said was true. You started to feel terrible for thinking that Chan would ever cheat on you. It was embarrassing to look back on how you acted when Ryujin had come to you and told you that Chan had been flirting with her. She had been one of your closest friends at the time, so you had no reason to doubt her. But Chan had never given you a reason to doubt him before that moment either.

“I’m sorry, Channie. I should have believed you.”

“Hey, don’t apologize. I know it’s hard to not believe your friend when something like that happens. I just needed you to know that I never would have done something like that to you. I loved you. I still love you.” The last part was said quietly, but you still heard it loud and clear. Truth be told, you still loved him too.

“I love you too, Channie. What did you wanna address today?”

“Well, I wanna know what you want us to be. I don’t think it needs to be said how much we’ve missed each other, but I need to know what you want going forward.”

“Well, what do you want going forward?”

“I’d really like you to answer that first. I know what I want, but I don’t want my answer to affect yours.”

“Ok. I want us to be together again, but I’m really worried about losing you for good this time. I don’t know if I could handle losing you again.”

Chan sighed and said “Then why don’t we keep things casual for now? I would love for us to go back to how things were, but I don’t want to make you worry about getting hurt again.”

“I think that’s a good starting point. No long-term commitment, no chances of getting hurt.”

“So, I guess that’s settled,” he said with a smile. God, you loved his smile. From the moment you met him his smile made you feel warm and happy.

“Would it be ok to talk about what happened last night?”

“I was hoping we could.”

“I don’t want you to think that sex is the only thing that I want. I want an emotional connection with you, not just a physical one.”

“I never thought that. I think that last night was just the result of a lot of emotions and repressed desires.”

“Probably.”

“Before we talk about anything else, I really just wanna say that I’m sorry. I know that I messed up. The guys have been helping me spend less time in the studio, and Minho has refused to let me go alone. I know that was one of the reasons you left. I promise you that this time I’ll be a better partner to you.”

“I also need to apologize. I wasn’t exactly the best either. I’ve been working through my jealousy problems and trust issues in therapy, and I understand that sometimes you have to prioritize your job. I promise you that I’ll treat you better.”

The two of you sat in a comfortable silence after that, finishing your coffees and processing what had been said. You knew you loved Chan, and you had hope that this time the two of you could make it work. Chan, however, was more hesitant this time. He was terrified of hurting you again, though you would have never known it because he didn’t stop smiling once the two of you agreed to start over. While he was nervous, he was also overjoyed that he could finally call you his again.

Once the two of you were back at the dorm, you knocked on Felix’s door and asked to talk to him. He opened the door and let you in immediately. You pulled him into a tight hug and said that you had news to share.

“What is it? Are you ok? Did something bad happen between you and Chan? Everyone heard you arguing in the kitchen during the movie last night.”

“Well, I wouldn’t say something bad happened between us.”

“What does that mean?” Felix asked, his voice now laced with concern.

“We decided to try again.”

Your best friend was silent for a few moments, and then said “(Y/N), are you really sure that’s a good idea? I remember how miserable you were towards the end of the relationship. I remember how much of a wreck you were after it ended.”

“Honestly, I think that it’s worth the risk. We agreed to keep it casual, and both of us are really trying to be better.”

“Are you sure that Chan is trying?”

“I can only hope that he is. Let me be optimistic just this once. Please?”

“Ok. As long as you’re happy, I’m happy. Just know that if you need anything I’m here.”

“Thank you, Lixie.”

This time he was the one that hugged you. You appreciated his concern for you, but you really wanted to prove him wrong this time. Chan loved you, and you loved him. That had to be enough to make trying again worth it. It had to be enough for you to be able to change what had gone wrong the first time.

Your conversation with Felix had left you a little bit uneasy, so you quickly made your way to Chan’s room. He instantly noticed that something was wrong and asked if you were ok. You told him about what Felix had said and your own concerns that your relationship would go poorly again. His expression changed, and it seemed like he was hiding something. You gently pressed him to tell you what was wrong, and he admitted that he was also worried. “I’m terrified of hurting you again,” he said.

“I know the feeling. I’m worried that I won’t be able to move past my own issues this time,” you replied.

Chan knew that he couldn’t make these feelings go away for either of you. So, he didn’t try to tell you that everything would be ok. Instead, he gave you a tight hug and whispered, “The best thing we can do is try. And I promise you that I will try.” He placed a gentle kiss on your forehead as you relaxed into his hold.

Your quiet moment was interrupted by Changbin loudly knocking on Chan’s door, asking if he wanted to join him and Jisung for an impromptu studio session. He opened the door and politely declined, explaining that he wanted to spend some time with you. Changbin looked at you with poorly hidden shock as he processed what that meant. You gave him a small smile in return and said that you hoped the session went well. Chan said that he would come to the studio later and kissed your cheek as he closed his door.

Before going to the studio, Changbin sprinted to Felix’s room and knocked. When he opened the door, Changbin whispered something that Felix couldn’t quite make out. He asked Changbin to come in and repeat what he said. The second Felix’s door was shut Changbin said, “I think that (Y/N) and Chan are back together.”

“Oh, yeah they are,” Felix replied, “(Y/N) told me a little bit ago that they were gonna try again, but that they’re keeping it casual for now.”

“Chan turned down going to the studio to spend time with (Y/N). Does that sound casual to you?”

This time it was Felix’s turn to be surprised. Chan never turned down a studio session. Maybe this time he was really trying. Felix was still skeptical, but it gave him a small amount of hope to hear that. “Maybe he is doing things differently,” Felix mumbled, mostly to himself.

“I’m actually really happy that they’re back together,” Jisung interrupted. “Bin, are we still going?”

“Yeah, sorry. Just wanted to ask Felix what was going on since he knows (Y/N) better than I do.”

Jisung and Changbin quickly left for the studio, leaving Felix alone with his thoughts. He wondered if Chan had really turned down working for you and thought about what that meant. Maybe you were right. Maybe Chan had changed, and maybe that meant that this time your relationship would be better.

While Changbin had been with Felix trying to find out what happened, you and Chan had decided to watch a movie and cuddle in his bed. The movie was a little bit boring to you, but you didn’t say anything. You were just grateful to have this time together. His arms around you felt like home, and every time he laughed at the movie it was music to your ears. About halfway through the movie, you fell asleep. Once Chan noticed he kissed your head and held you until you woke up, thrilled to be back with the person he loved.

When you woke up an hour or so later, Chan drove you back to your apartment and thanked you for spending time with him and giving him another chance. You hugged him and thanked him for his patience during your earlier conversation. Then the two of you shared a sweet, loving kiss before parting ways. On his drive home, he thought about ways that he could really show you that he appreciated you giving him another chance.

One of the things that he did was schedule a date night with you about a month after you two got back together. The plan was to go to your favorite upscale restaurant. Then, the two of you would go back to the dorm for a bit of quality time before he went back to Australia for a few weeks to visit his family. At least, that’s what you thought was going to happen.

You were wearing Chan’s favorite dress. It was a red, floor-length evening gown with a plunging neckline and a high slit. He went crazy every time you wore it, and you loved having that effect on him. As for makeup, you went with something simple yet elegant, fitting for the restaurant you were going to. Your makeup was almost done when you got a text from him. It said “Going to the studio with the guys to do some last-minute tweaks on a new track. sorry, I promise I’ll be there as soon as I can. I love you.” The message made you wanna throw your phone across the room, but you decided to wait. You had hoped that you would hear from him again in a few minutes, telling you that he was finished or that he had changed his mind.

After 2 hours you had heard nothing, which you had to admit you expected. While your relationship with Chan felt basically perfect up to this point, deep down you knew that something like this would happen at some point. Since you didn’t want to spend the night being sad by yourself, you decided to call Felix. After a few rings, he picked up and said, “Hey, (Y/N)! Is everything ok?”

“Not really. Chan and I had a date planned for tonight, but he went to the studio instead. I called to ask if you wanted to go out or something, since he stood me up.”

“Yeah, of course. We could go to the new club that just opened up across town.”

“That sounds fun. I’ll meet you there?”

“Sounds great. Bye, (Y/N).”

“Bye, Lixie.” You hung up the phone and started to get ready again. The club you were going to was much less formal than the restaurant you had originally planned to go to tonight. So, you changed into a different dress that you knew would draw some attention. It was bright purple, with a short skirt and an obscene amount of glitter. You knew it wasn’t right, but you wanted someone to see you and at least tell you that you looked good. Once you were dressed, you quickly re-did your makeup to look a little bit flashier, then left to meet Felix.

When you got to the club, you immediately hugged Felix and thanked him for coming out with you. He apologized, saying that he was hoping that Chan would be different this time. He smiled and pulled you into the club. You were nervous about being there, but those nerves quickly faded as you heard your favorite song playing. The dance floor seemed so inviting, so you made your way there as Felix ordered his first drink of the night.

As you danced, you completely lost yourself in the music. That’s probably why you missed the multiple calls and texts from Chan. He felt terrible about losing track of time in the studio. A few minutes after you got to the club he tried to call you to apologize and to let you know that he would be on his way soon. When you didn’t answer, he texted Felix to see if you were ok.

At this point Felix was already incredibly drunk, so when he told Chan what happened he wasn’t exactly kind. He made sure that Chan knew how much standing you up had hurt you, and that he genuinely thought that Chan would treat you differently this time. Chan texted you one more time to apologize, and then he went back to the studio. He tried to get a little bit more work done to take his mind off of things, but the guilt eating away at him forbade it.

You didn’t see the texts from Chan right away either. You were too busy dancing with an extremely attractive guy that made you forget about your pain for a little while. He had told you that his name was Hongjoong, and that he was only in town for a few days. The realization that he didn’t live nearby filled you with a sudden confidence that frankly took you by surprise. After that you flirted with him shamelessly, reveling in the attention he gave you and the knowledge that you most likely wouldn’t see him again.

Hongjoong flashed you a smile and asked if you wanted to go back to his hotel room. For a brief moment you considered saying yes. Then you thought about how badly you had wanted to make things work with Chan, and the guilt started to settle in. You politely declined Hongjoong’s invitation and went to find Felix.

When you found him, he was sitting at the bar and flirting with the bartender. You quietly informed him that you were ready to leave and went outside for a little bit of fresh air before returning home. Felix joined you a few minutes later, saying that he was tired and also wanted to leave. He asked if you were ok, and you quickly nodded. It was obvious that you weren’t ok, but he knew that you would tell him what happened whenever you were ready.

You told him that you were ready to leave and hugged him. You offered to drive him home, but he told you that he would take a taxi. The two of you agreed to text each other when you were home and parted ways.

When you arrived home, you opened your phone to text Felix. Before you could, however, you saw the missed calls and texts from Chan. He hadn’t left a voicemail any of the times that he called, but his texts were all apologies for losing track of time. He swore to make it up to you when he returned home from Australia, and once again guilt started to destroy you. Had you really almost thrown away your entire relationship for a little bit of attention from a hot guy? The realization made you start sobbing as you processed what you almost did to Chan.

Hello! It may not sound interesting but… 1.Bolin and Mako switch personalities 2.Swap: Suyin and Lin with Mako and Bolin Happy New Year!

Happy belated new year! Sorry for not getting back to you earlier, I lost this message in my inbox which tends to get a bit cluttered.

1. Personality Swap

Well, that's a very interesting idea. Seeing a more bubbly and cheerful Mako would be funny, if anything.

Though I will note that the brothers aren't really as dissimilar as they may seem. Mako seems serious and tense all the time, but he's actually such a dork, and has a clear love of humour and showmanship, something we asscociate with Bolin. I mean, look at the man's pun list.

[HE TRIES THEM OUT IN THE MIRROR I'M CRYING]

Bolin seems carefree and all fun and games, but I think we forget that he is very protective and caring of those around him, even if he isn't fully equipped to extend said protection and care. Let's not forget that it wasn't stupidity that made Bolin work with the triads and get caught by Amon, but a desperation for money that otherwise Mako would have to earn himself.

Mako and Bolin have both show themselves more than willing to essentially throw their lives away for others (reminder that Bolin did not know he could lavabend, he really just yeeted himself into oncoming lava just out of sheer desperation to save his brother and friends). They both struggle to make friends in a genuine way, yet simply desire acceptance and affection from others, something the didn't receive in their childhoods from anyone but themselves.

It just so happens that their respective 'roles' in their dynamic highlights certain aspects of their personalities.

But if Bolin and Mako were to swap personalities, they'd probably be more similar in dynamic to Sokka and Katara. - though I've already made a comparison post between these two pairs of siblings.

2. Swapping with Suyin and Lin

I'm not sure, exactly what type of 'swap' you mean, but I tried to do my best to 'swap' them in a plausible way, focusing on their life paths and relationships to each other.

An alternate universe where Suyin and Lin have a relationship similar to Mako and Bolin's wouldn't be improbable, as a lot of the fandom already chooses to believe that Lin acted in a parental manner to Suyin in canon, despite their relationship being more of a rivalry. But a world where Lin actually did play a parental role towards Suyin and genuinely did her best to care for Su would probably lead them to having a closer relationship, and perhaps prevent Su from trying to find affection elswere, and keep her from engaing in crime. This would keep Suyin in Republic City, changing her life drastically.

Lin would probably still go on to be a cop, but probably have a healthier relationship with her family and Su. While Su could end up doing any number of things, but if we're keeping in line with 'swapping' her with Lin, she could end up as a probender, which does kinda suit her, or some manner of performer. Seeing her and Lin actually genuinely friendly from the begining would be interesting to say the least.

Bolin and Mako having a relationship like the Beifong sisters, however, would be fascinating to see. To see the brothers fall apart, despite the codepence they have formed, would take a huge falling out. They could have a rivalry, similarly to Suyin ans Lin, though theirs may be encouraged by the Triad members. Having the triads pit the brothers against each other for things like food and necessities would probably facilitate a more strained relationship, more similar to the one canon Lin amd Su have.

This could lead to Mako and Bolin eventually getting into some sort of confrontation, which, if we want to follow the 'swap' to a tea, would result in Mako getting scarred and Bolin leaving Republic City. Startled by what the life of crime had led him to, Mako could join the police force and step onto the straight and narrow. While Bolin, like Su in canon, would end up travelling the Earth Kingdom and trying to find his place. I can't see him setting up a city like Zaofu, assuming that he's still the same age as he was in tlok, but he would certainly be a more well travelled person and would probably grow quickly from the person he was in Republic City.

Seeing an estranged version of Mako and Bolin would be fascinating, since they're so intertwined in canon. I also fully support Mako going petty toddler mode like Lin did in canon when she wa sin Zaofu.

It's been over a month since my last update on the secretly married malex fic i've been writing! so, out of the ten new scenes i added, i've only fully written two lol, so eight more to go! The goal is to be done before the new year, so wish me luck!

But here y'all go, a deleted scene:

Alex shouldn't be doing this. He has a flight in less than ten hours, and it's going to take at least three of those for him to make it to his flight on time, but he doesn't really care.

There is something he has to do right now, before he can't do anything about it.

He'd spent the last week since he left Roswell thinking about this, and he'd gone online last night and set an appointment just to see when the soonest available one would be, just to convince himself that it was a bad idea to do this. Only for the closest available appointment to be the next day, in the morning.

Alex automatically calculated the amount of time it would take for him to pack his things, drive to Roswell, make this appointment and then get back to base to make his flight. He would have at least an hour of time to celebrate afterwards.

The only thing he's unsure of in all of this is what Michael would do.

Alex isn't dumb enough to think that it doesn't hurt to be the one left behind. It hurts him and he's the one doing the leaving. But he's hopeful enough that Michael wouldn't say no. He looks at the time and sees that it's a little after three in the morning.

He messages Michael on AIM an innocuous, i miss you.

Michael's phone barely gets any service in the junkyard and is a hassle to text with, so Michael probably won't ans-

The computer dings before Alex can finish the thought.

Miss you more

Alex packs his bags and is out on the road before the hour is up.

He drives and makes it to Sanders Lot before the sun has even risen, just before seven in the morning. The appointment is in two hours. Alex thinks he made excellent time.

Michael's truck is parked next to the airstream, so Alex knows he's there. Or at least he should be. Alex hopes that he's there.

Still he hesitates for a bit too long, fifteen minutes to be exact, before he can convince himself to get out of the car.

It's just Michael. Even if he does say no to this, it's not like it'll stop him from being the most important person in Alex's life.

Alex stares at the airstream for a second longer, before the lights flicker on, announcing that the occupant was awake.

Alex gets out of the car then, and he barely makes it halfway to the door, before its opening, and Michael is standing at the entrance.

Alex stops in his tracks, feeling his heart leap up into his throat.

Michael looks visibly startled to see him.

Alex gives him a second, eyes darting all over him, drinking him in like he hasn't seen him in months and not just a week.

He's standing there shirtless, jeans hanging open, hair a frizzy mess, eyes too bright, unshaven with blood staining the corner of his mouth and smeared across his split knuckles.

It's an image that makes his heart ache. And he hates, hates, hates that he's the one responsible for this.

Alex is boarding a plane in a couple of hours, and he really has no idea if he'll ever come back home.

It's that thought more than anything that propels him forward.

Michael drops down from the entrance, taking a couple of steps forward.

"What are you doing here, Alex?" He asks, voice hoarse. "Don't you have a flight in a couple of hours?"

Alex opens his mouth to answer the question.

"Marry me," falls out of his mouth instead.

Michael gapes at him momentarily, while Alex feels his face flush a little with embarrassment. He'd meant to ease into the subject, not blurt it out first thing.

"Unless I'm mistaken," Michael says slowly, eyes darting all over Alex's face. "We're already married."

"That's a domestic partnership," Alex says, a little impatiently, and pushes forward despite the hurt look Michael throws at him.

"Which becomes void in the event of my death," Alex continues. Michael makes a sound, taking a step forward, hand lifting slightly only to drop again.

Alex keeps speaking, "And if anything happens, the last person I want making decisions for me is my father."

Michael stares at him for a long moment. The silence between them feels heavy with tension.

Alex clears his throat and waves a hand around in the air, "And we can get married now."

Michael continues to look at him without speaking.

"So, what do you say?" Alex says, a little desperately taking a step closer to Michael.

Michael takes a startled step back before he turns around and heads back inside the airstream.

For about five seconds Alex feels the absolute heartbreak, before Michael stumbles back out of the airstream, holding his shirt in one hand.

He holds out a clenched fist towards Alex, giving him an encouraging smile.

Alex starts to feel the embers of hope flickering in his chest.

He opens his hand, holding it towards Michael.

Michael drops two rings into Alex's palm, and he feels as though the entire world stops for a crystal clear second.

Michael pulls his shirt over his head while Alex tries to process what's happening.

Michael clears his throat, and Alex's gaze snaps back to him, as he stuffs his hand in his pocket, putting the rings safely away.

"I got them right after I heard that they passed-mmhp."

Alex stumbles forward and kisses Michael, one hand to the side of his head, fingers curled around his ears as he pulls him in, falling into the kiss at the same time, trusting that Michael would keep them on their feet.

Michael just barely manages that, wrapping his arms around Alex's waist as he stumbles to catch his balance. Alex's skin feels like it's buzzing as his entire focus narrows to Michael's mouth. He doesn't care if they end up falling to the ground.

He barely notices that they're moving until he's being tumbled back onto the still warm hood of his car. Alex protests digging his fingers into the back of Michael's neck to pull him in. Michael laughs a little, almost deliriously, wrapping his hands around the backs of Alex's knees and pulling him closer.

Alex lets Michael tug him wherever he wants him, hooking his knees around Michael's hips.

Michael presses his hands to Alex's face, fingers around his jaw, tilting his face up as Michael leans down, stopping close enough to rub their noses together.

"Marry me?" he breathes into the space between their mouths.

Alex hums low in his throat as he wraps his arms around Michael's waist, "I asked you fir-"

The rest of the words are caught by Michael's lips as he kisses Alex again, pressing their mouths together softly once, before tilting his head to change the angle, and kissing him again.

Alex tightens his hold on Michael, pulling him in even closer, and they lose several more minutes just kissing languidly, pressed close together.

Michael parts their mouths with a gasp, pressing his forehead to Alex's.

"Yes," Michael breathes.

"Yeah?" Alex questions, not thinking about anything but kissing Michael again.

Michael laughs a little, "Yes, I'll marry you."

Alex smiles, feeling so happy and light, "Yeah?"

"Yes," Michael repeats, kissing Alex once quickly. "You?"

"Of course, I will," Alex says, bumping their noses together. "I'll marry you as many times as you want me to."

Michael kisses him again, hard and biting. Alex holds him close for a long moment, before he pushes him back, parting their mouths with a slick sound.

"Let's go get married," Alex says, grinning stupidly.

Michael smiles back at him, and just tugs him in for another kiss. Alex kisses him back, they still have time before their appointment.

My reactions to the End of Evangelion

First, I know I have some asks about romcom Shinji waiting for me, but I felt I must watch this first because I am a little bit freaked out about what's going to happen and I need to just face it and get it out of the way. Also, I have a feeling I'm going to want to think about cute romcom Shinji afterward to aid my recovery. I have been led to believe it's pretty intense.

I am literally sitting here with the remote, avoiding pressing play.

Okay. I did it. It's starting.

I wonder if this is with the new VAs. Did they redub this as well? I'll find out soon.

The world is flooded, it looks like.

Shinji visiting Asuka and asking for help.

This is the new dub.

Ope, he accidentally made her naked.

Jesus Christ, Shinji.

Confirmed that their intent is to force humanity to evolve. They wanted to use Lilith but instead will have to use Unit 1, its only offspring, since the Spear of Longinus is lost.

Yui chose to stay in the Eva. "The human condition lies in how it struggles for survival".

There's Rei.

She finally broke the glasses.

Shinji's music player ran out of battery. He's just been laying there thinking about what a creep he is.

Misato found the real truth behind the second impact. Should I go back and pause to read the page?

Seele's trying to hack NERV HQ.

So was Unit 0 made from Adam, then?

Wait. So, Seele wants to do the forced evolution, yes? What is Gendo's motive in all this?

They're hiding the kids in their Evas. Rei is missing.

Shinji is hiding. Is he jerking off again?

These guys are going through and very efficiently killing everyone in NERV.

No, Shinji is just feeling depressed and hopeless and probably hating himself.

How does Rei feel about all her destroyed bodies?

They were about to kill Shinji and he was going to let them, but here comes Misato to save the day!

"Help, Asuka. Help me." Suicidal Shinji.

Humanity caused the second impact by trying to revert Adam to an egg state before he could awaken any more angels. Humanity came from Lilith and is the 18th Angel. I was not expecting that.

The other Angels were humanity how it could have been.

Shinji needs to destroy the Evas to prevent the third impact and save mankind.

Okay, so the human instrjmentality project is Gendo ans that's the forced evolution. Third impact is Seele's goal. I think.

Asuka has woken up.

They're bombing outside her capsule.

Does that let her sync?

Did she see her mom because she died? Oh no.

Oh, wait, it was the first thing.

The AT field was her mother protecting her? Is her mom also in the Eva? Are they really just farming people's mothers to make Evas?

Go, girl! Kick ass, Asuka.

She's so happy to realize her mother loves her.

There's the other Evas. Are they also crafted from mothers?

It's nice to see Asuka with her confidence back.

Which one got shot?

Misato.

I thought probably given ep. 25 (was it?)

Shinji does bad things to other people to hurt himself.

That's a good message from Misato.

And then she went and did that. Ugh. Misato, I knew you were going to do some shit like this. And promising him the rest when he gets back. What a weirdo. But I guess she's dead now? That's too bad.

Ritsuko is sabotaging Gendo.

But she failed.

The spear of longinus is back and it got her!

I was wondering if they would stay down. She probably has to destroy the S2 drive.

Do these ones have pilots?

Oh, they're eating her. And she is connected by nerve link.

Ohhhhhh no. Asuka...

He couldn't go to the Eva so the Eva is coming to him.

He saw what happened to Asuka and absolutely lost his shit.

Should I take a break to discuss this half of the movie since it's split into episodes, or should I wait? Umm.... I have until the end of this song to decide, I think. Uh... I think I'll just wait until the very end.

Rei's arm fell off.

Gendo wants to reunite with Yui, which is something I had kind of toyed with as an idea because he talks about her a lot and is very partial to everything that relates to Yui except for Shinji (maybe sees too much of himself in the boy), but I hadn't really spent a lot of time thinking about it because I hate Gendo and he keeps hooking up with other scientists.

He has become one with Adam somehow. He needs to unite Adam and Lilith to commence the human instrumentality project and then go to where Yui is (the quantum plane, perhaps?)

Quite honestly, I'm still not completely clear on what Seele wants versus what Gendo wants.

He stuck his whole hand inside her.

Rei senses Shinji screaming.

Were there two spears of Longinus?

Oh, they made a replica.

They are rerutning man and Evas to their true forms.

Several replicas.

They're going to use Unit 1 and therefore Shinji as a sacrifice.

This is the lead up to the third impact.

There is a huge explosion.

Looks like an eye.

They're returning earth to its true form?

Rei decides not to help Gendo. And she regrew her hands. She's going up to help Shinji by going in Lilith.

And with that, Lilith is fixed, with her legs not weird anymore.

That is Lilith, right? That's what Kaworu said?

A giant incorporeal Rei to the rescue!

Shinji screaming at the sight of Rei.

They're syncing with Rei. Once again, that's a lot of fucking Reis.

Shinji is losing his mind.

kaworu appears, coming out of Rei's body. But there's the spear. It's absorbed the spear. Now he's in the tree of life.

"Rei is in your heart. A perfect reflection of your wishes."

"What do you wish for?"

He's alone at the playground because the other kids went home with their mom and he doesn't have one.

His little Mary Janes.

Built the sand castle, knocked it down in a fit of rage, then started trying to put it back together and crying.

Did this stuff Shinji is seeing actually happen or is it happening in his head as part of human instrumentality?

Now he's choking her.

Seeing all the worst of humanity.

Shinji bouncing back and forth between everyone should die because they don't love me, and I should die because I don't matter to anyone.

Rei just sprouted from the atmosphere.

Everyone is truning to jelly. Primordial soup.

"I'd only hurt Shinji. That's why I left him alone." He's just like Shinji fr.

The Eva series are shoving the spears further in.

Rei is vacuuming something into her palms, it looks like. Is that souls?

The tree of life thing just went into the eye hole/ keyhole/ vag in her head.

Now we've got some actual footage from the real world.

"You made a convenient fantasy to get revenge on reality."

Rei and Shinji are kind of fused together. Everyone is merged into one, which is what Rei said Shinji wished for. But he realizes that's not really what he wanted.

AT fields are what keep us separate and cause our pain, but Shinji realizes that he wants to be with others again more than he wants to run away from the pain.

So now Rei is bringing everyone back, I think?

Yui wanted to make the Eva to be a testament that humanity existed even after the universe dies.

Shinji wakes up next to a red sea abd Asuka. Shinji sees Rei for just a moment, and then she'd gone. There is a red ring around the earth. He's trying to choke her and crying, then she touches his face softly and he stops. He cries. She calls him disgusting and the movie ends.

In Conclusion

Well.

Well, well, well.

First off: I am still confused because it seems like Seele and Gendo were trying for the same thing and I am really not sure of the difference. Maybe it was just a matter of how they wanted to carry it out. I feel like I must be dumb as a rock for not getting it, but also maybe it's just mental priorities. I spent more mental energy trying to figure out other stuff.

This movie leaves me with a lot to think about. I'm already googling things about it, but I'm going to stop for now. I want to let it percolate a bit more, I think. Also, I should watch my DVD extras! Probably not today, though. I need to spend some time with my kid.

It seems that the third impact still affected the planet, but Shinji elected to have everyone be individuals so it was an apocalypse but not one that turned everyone into a single, liquid consiousness.

I don't really think everyone's Eva is infused with their mother, but I'm a little perplexed by Asuka saying her mother is why she has an AT field. Maybe she just meant because of how her mother shaped her identity. Not really sure. I mean, I would understand if Shinji had that revelation but not sure on Asuka.

Yeah, this is another one that's going to have to sit for a while in my head, I think. There's a lot to sort through.

I do love that the connection between mother and child seems to be so important in this series. It's kind of sad because Shinji feels so alone and uncared for, but we can see that his mother is always watching him and protecting him, whether it's as Rei or as Unit 1 or as a metaphysical version of herself. But we also see Asuka dealing with a lack of love from her mother. That poor girl.

Also, can we really love anyone when they are mixed together in a soup with us? Shinji could be merged with everyone in the LCL sea but they were no longer separate people, so he still couldn't really be with them, because there was no longer a them to be with.

I do slightly wish the objectives between Seele and Gendo had been slightly clearer. I get that it's all secondary to the real message but I get hung up on this kind of stuff when it's not clicking.

Yeah, I don't think I've got anything really definitive to say right now. This is definitely another thinker and I need time to let my thoughts form.

I am left wanting more. Not of the story, but just of seeing the characters together. I wish we could get an Evangelion slice of life series and just see their day to day lives as Eva pilots with only a very loose plot to tie the series together. I want to see them all existing and coexisting and I think I could happily watch several seasons of that.

Okay, well, I have a couple people to text now that I've finished the movie and I need to sit and think some more. I want to look up more stuff but I feel like maybe I should wrap up this watching experience with a better conclusion post. I think I will try (only try, no promises-I've got a head full of questions) to hold off on looking anything up while I sort through things and maybe look at my notes and then attempt to gather together my thoughts and post them.

I will also think about those Shinji romcom asks.

This was a very good show. I will definitely be watching again, and quite possibly very soon. I confess that I put in a bid for a boxed set of the Perfect collection, which should have the original dub, so if I win it I'm going to buy it and then watch it with the original dub because I'm curious to see the difference.

This is basically a little post game ending AU I made with @demonicintegrity 's help except PK survives (and I also frankenstained our messages together so hopefully it's a coherent story)

Anyway this is super long so I'm putting it under read more

Hollow is sort of aimless and doesn't know what to do with themself now that they've served their purpose so they just. Wander. Until they meet PK and basically decide hey I'm his knight, knights are supposed to protect their kings right? I'll just follow him. Meanwhile, PK's having an awful time and doesn't want anything to do with Hollow but the stubborn bug will. Not. Leave. Him. Alone.

PK also wants them to not be subservient to him and be an actual person and shit but he doesn't know how to go about making that change. First option was avoiding them so they had no choice but to make their own decisions but they just wouldn't. Piss. Off. Second option was just ordering them to be a person. He's not the best at this

Hollow just interprets any suggestion of his as an order and it's one hell of a battle to change that. PK and Hornet essentially try to teach Hollow how to be a person, with mixed results.

Hollow also has a lot of mixed feelings. Hurt and anger mixed with wanting affection and comfort from their parents mixed with feeling they don't deserve that affection and putting them up on a pedestal and treating them as gods and royals instead of parents, any kind of attention or care feels blasphemous to them. They're stubborn and think very badly of themself, still clinging to this idea that they're a tool and are meant to serve. Hell concoction!

They get out of it but. It takes lots of work.

First time they disagree with PK and have an argument, he genuienly celebrates after he cools off. FINALLY they're not just going with anything and everything he says! If only this argument wasn't about Hollow's worth, but...you know. Two step forward one step back.

Hollow also has a mouth now, one The Radiance made. The bottom of their mask shattered to make room for it. They also now have a voice, raspy, rough and painful, and mostly unused because they hate it.

So the first time they use it around PK it's a shock for him

Hollow: Can you stop fucking pacing? The tap tap tapping is going to give me a migraine

PK: Oh, very sorry I just- YOU TALK?

Hollow, nodding:

Pk: since when!?

Hollow: ….. since She was using me to scream

Pk, slapped in the face:

But! On the plus side, now they can eat and taste things. PK's new favourite hobby is getting them new meals to try...for better or for worse,

PK, finding a VERY bitter fruit: "....Hey Hollow, wanna try something?"

Hollow makes a face and that's probably the first time they heard their father genuienly laugh

Proceeds to eat fruit out of his hand like a horse.

And then just. Keeps the fruit there after one chew.

“….. you can spit it out if out if you need too.”

“………. -slowly let’s it slide out of mouth and onto the ground-“

Looks at their father with an absolute look of betrayal

“……..”

“…….. some people like bitter fruits.”

"You could have warned me. You knew."

But their favourite food is berries :] Any berries, as long as they're not bitter. Will wat them right off the branches, often with leaves and stuff because they don't feel like picking them off.

He ans Hornet also teach Hollow how to hunt. And they proceed to hunt regularly for their entire family (the poor tiktik population...)

They just drop a dead bug on their mother's lap all proud and she makes a face

WL: Thank you, but-

PK, through their mind link: DON'T YOU DARE

WL, also through their link: But I don't need to eat with my mouth!

PK: THEY DON'T NEED TO KNOW THAT, LOOK AT THAT FACE!

Hollow, waiting for the rest of her sentence: …….?

Wl: …. I’ll get to it in a moment dear, not super hungry at the moment

Hollow, still pleased with this:

PK helps her burry it so she can absorb it through her roots

PK eventually tells them and they start burying their kills and helps PK keep the soil nutrients rich for their mum

At least once a day Wl looks down and feels hollow digging a hole for their kill for her

Eventually she pats their head and tells them that decomposition, even with her roots, isn’t as fast as eating. So she really doesn’t need a substantial kill each day

Starts giving their dad kills every day instead

Pk, internally wondering about the ecological impact his kid might be having:

Hollow is an invasive species

Gets them to be occupied with something

But their family quickly tries to figure out a different possible hobby before they decimate the local wildlife population

Hornet and Pk at least keep moving around so they have to spend time finding them

Hornet: one day you’re gonna get caught in one of my traps I swear

Hollow: Nu uh

OH PK trying to get them to treat him like family and not authority and I think Hollow going to sleep in the nest he made for them right next to his would be a pretty big step

Because previously being close to him felt wrong, blasphemous, knights aren't supposed to sleep in the same den as their Kings, they're supposed to have their own quarters

Especially since they’ve never really. Seen him sleep before

After first they’re tempted to sit up, still play guard, but Pk tells them to lay down and rest. Put that fucker in a headlock because they absolutely will follow their old programming otherwise

Pk opens eye and sees they’re laying down but clearly just watching him and not actually sleeping.

Just baps their face.

“Sleep”

And keeps his hand their as he closes his eyes

His hand fits squarely between their big eyes

A scene I thought up that I kinda wanna draw (but probably won't)

Hollow's going Through It and PK doesn't know what to do so he just wraps himself around them and hopes physical contact will help calm them down

This is the first full on affection he showed to them aside from that one time he kept his hand on their head as they slept

And Hollow just. Starts crying

They don't know why, their chest just feels tight and...hurts. They didn't realise how much they just wanted a hug from him all these years

"...D...dad..." They croak out in their broken, rough voice between their sobs

It felt like a hit aimed right at his heart, clawing his chest open. They never called him that before. He curls tighter around them and shifts to place a gentle lick on their forehead

"Shhh," He nuzzled them, "It's okay. It's okay, Hollow. I'm right here."

Hollow chewing PK's tail like one of these necklace stim toys and PK doesn't mind because his chitin is extremely hard

He's just doing his own thing while his kid is chewing and growling

PK absentmindedly moving his tail while he works on something and Hollow's playing with it

He only notices when he moves it further than usual and Hollow zooms across the den to catch it

Looks over and Hollow's staring at his tail like O_O

Has to move his tail a couple times to confirm that yes, hollow is zooming

“You’re just like your sister when she was little” (Bold words from somebody who would also get zoomies if his wife put a root in front of his face)

Hollow is also only a nickname, they don't have a proper name and go by their title The Hollow Knight. Others aren't happy about it either but Hollow doesn't care about picking a name. File this in your brain for later, it'll be important in just a second.

Anyway. Hollow has kids.

yknow how some trees when damaged or moved they lay down a ton of seeds to make up for potentially dying? They realize Hornet is missing from the whole silksong shenanigans after growing and being basically okay and better.

Stress and drop some seeds before going to look for her.

And then coming back and seeing some weird ass sprouts in their house/den/whatever

Trips on a growing sprout as they come back home to have their first night of sleep in like three months.

just faceplants and goes yeah its naptime right here

Wakes up to like. 5 whole children

most of them look v v much like a bby Hollow so for a good thirty seconds they think theyre still asleep and just kinda groggy

PK: i dunno youre the one who procreated. Whos the other parent??

Hollow: i dunno I just came back, tripped on a weird plant growing in my den and woke up to them.

Pk: ........ Here hold them I'm gonna go talk to your mother real quick

One hell of a conversation did PK have to have with his wife when they arrived huh

“Our kid had kids it seemed.”

“Oh? I wasn’t aware they were seeing someone.”

“They seemed to have laid roots down and kids spawned kids that way my root.”

Hollow after getting a Root birds and the bees talk: Is there any way to stop that from happening again? I think five is enough for me

Luckily the new babies seem well behaved enough. And just kinda. Want to be on or around Hollow.

Theyre gonna be shocked when five little peeps are just babbling in void speech tho

Hollow decides that maybe being a parent isn't so bad once they figure out they can get the babies to torment their grandpa

the psychic damage pk receives bc they look so so similar to a bby hollow. Affectionately calls them the clones because of that

Another nickname is the terrors because they WILL try to maul him

Hornet, next time she sees the babies and is playing is one of them: Have you named them yet? Hallownestians name their babies right?

Hollow: Spawn one through five.

Hornet: fu-....God help me. Just one through five??

Hollow, nodding and pointing to each kid and knowing which is who:

They dont know how to name. they were never named. they were only ever given titles. described. they dont know how to name. But they know how to observe. One was the first one they saw when they woke up, and so on.

But theyll be observant. the curious one. the chatty one. the active one. theyll all be known.

PK is gonna dig through the Hallownest ruins in desperation to find a damn names book

Maybe recruits Hornet to help

Hornet: Here

Hollow: What's that?

PK: A book of names. You are not naming my first grandchildren One through Five

Hollow: they are getting titles! As they grow!

Pk and Hornet: huh????

Hollow: The first one, they are the curious one. They explore the most, and always want to see what im doing. They like to be picked up to be tall. This second one, the chatty one. Constantly chirping and poking through the void. They will wake their siblings if theyre awake first.

Hornet: That's hardly any better! Titles aren't names either

Hollow: Well, you call me Hollow, don't you?

PK, having a horrible realisation:

Hornet: ............. ohhhhh shiiiittt......

Pk:

Hollow: It's fine. They will earn many nice titles growing up.

Hornet: okay. I get like, Deepnest does the naming after getting to know them but thats a name. Not a collection of random adjectives.

Hollow: Its not random I know them.

PK: ..........I need to find some sort of still living therapist, I swear........

Hollow: Huh???

But the numbers/titles stick. Hollow is one stubborn bitch

One is the curious one, the explorer. Two is chatty, likes to be social. Three is clingy and shy and just wants to be with someone at all times, but if you're not their siblings, parent, grandpa, grandpa or auntie they will NOT like you. Four is a menace, just a little mischievous bug. And Five is the brave one, tries to be the leader and protector of their siblings, has a stick for a "nail" because they wanna be a knight like their parent and brave protector like their auntie.

The mini Hollows are cute. The group of them like to sit in the dirt and watch.

Gets to plan a whole attack on grandpa or auntie

With an excuse of teaching them to hunt and defend themselves early

pk will never see it coming

many of the babies like to dig.

Dig holes. Dig tunnels. Dig and bury themselves in dirt.

Gonna break his damn leg on one of the holes one day when he's visiting Hollow and the grandterrors

menace number four, stepping right on top of every healed wound on Hollow as they climb across them simply trying to lay down and rest:

I think it'd be cute if PK teaches them how to groom the babies. He still remembers something from raising Hornet so he helps somewhat. so many wriggly babies to try and keep clean challenge (impossible. they yearn for the dirt)

Nr 1 squeaks and squals in protest and wiggles as grandpa cleans them

They don't wanna be CLEAN they wanna go explore and play in the dirt >:[

Hornet told Hollow once that its important for children to explore and look at different things and see different places.

So they would saddle them all up on their back and go on field trips.

Number four would try to eat a crystal in the mine

It makes pk happy because its actually really encouraging hollow to go out more often and plan to do different things

Whenever they stumble onto each other when they're like that he jokes that the stag of little terrors has arrived

"okay. Attack"

"Wait-"

Pk can fly so it saves him if he reacts fast enough

Grandpa won't play with them?

Cruel and unusual punishment

they cheep and try to chase after him in the air

They do not pay attention and run right into a sewer in the city and make Hollow panic

The children are alright but both pk and hollow panic for a good moment

and they need a proper bath now

The One Time the terrors would like a bath time

But neither their parent nor grandpa want to groom them so into the fountain or lake they go

Poor things get pulled out a shivering wet sad mess

PK: Maybe now you won't try to maul grandpa

Hollow: Nah, just look where you're going when trying to kill

They all immediately climb onto Hollow and shove their little faces into them. No more wet time its time to get out of the rain.

The 5 menaces start attacking PK on their own accord when they grow up enough. Hollow taught them well (PK doesn't agree)

They also eat out of hands like horses, just like their parent. The Foals 💜

PK is feeding the babies berries out of his hand and suddenly mama's looming over him also, waiting for a treat

PK: ...Seriously, you need to think up some names, I'm not calling them numbers

Hollow: They'll get titles with time, it's alright

PK: Titles are not names

Hollow: They're just as good

PK: Hollow-

Hollow: Pale

PK: 🧍

Hollow: ..... thats what I thought

PK: What if we'll find you a name also? Wouldn't you like one?

Hollow: Eh, I'm used to Hollow by now

PK: 🧍

number one would be fascinated by eyes and try. to touch. Bother grandpa. "Please dont"

The five are so used to mama not being warm and then they discover the joy of warm toasty cuddles with auntie and grandparents

Hollow gets abandoned SO fast

Must absorb all warmth

Hollow: The betrayal. My own children. Stabbed me in the back.

PK with babies piled on top of him (and Hornet): Don't be dramatic

Hollow slowly just scruffs a baby one at a time to pull back into their own nest

They're gonna SCREAM for WARMTH. CRUEL PARENT. TAKING THEM AWAY FROM BEING COSY AND TOASTY

plops them in blankets and tells them theyre fine. Hornet and PK can't help but be amused

Mx. "I don't want to be a parent" now being super doting and jealous whenever their babies aren't with them

these are their babies. Their babies who they know well and take good care of thank you very much

They're SO gonna get teased for that. A typical protective wyrm parent. It's cute

Hornet makes the babies little sweaters or cloaks

They're all a little different

From insight from Hollow on their personalities and what they like

theyre all silent/can only speak in void. So gauging some personality needed some help.

Hollow is so pleased they all like their new cloaks.

And they deny endlessly that they need a new on. But Hornet gets them a new one anyways

The kiddos make dirtmouth so lively once theyre old enough to play outside more

Okay back to the canon characters and the angst,

PK often babysits the 5 to give Hollow a break, and during one night when they're staying with him he has a nightmare about Hollow killing him. Wakes up startled and panting.

He feels like he would deserve that fate but the nightmare still felt so horrifying and real, and he just stays there shaking and wonders if the anger and hatred he saw in his dream is really how Hollow feels and they've just been tolerating him at best in actuality

His grandkids were sleeping with him, so he just looks down at the baby currently in his arms and just buries his face in them

He loves these five so so damn much, he wonders if they love him too- he wonders how Hollow can even tolerate him around their young

He just nuzzles into the baby in his arms, trying to forget about his brewing thoughts and fall back asleep

Hollow definitely had some wildly complicated feelings about him, their relationship was very volatile at times, and they for sure felt anger at him for what he's done to them

But it's been years now that they've spent bonding together, years to heal and grow a more proper father-child relationship, and with time they've learned to stop seeing him as a king creator but their father, and they learned to love him like one too

They're just not an overly affectionate person, but they're generally a complete recluse so the fact that they spend so much time with him is a testament to their love for him, he just haven't seen it yet. He didn't really get many opportunities to see how Hollow is with most people so he doesn't realise just how differently they treat him, Hornet, White Lady and their children.

And yeah, they won't lie, their relationship is rocky at times and he did massively fuck up in the past, but they still love him and see him as their father.

Had they found out about his nightmares they'd just lie with him and gently nudge their muzzle against his hand, maybe even worming their snout under it so he can hold his hand on their mask like that one time, hoping that this gesture would be enough to make him realise

And it would be

Also he is Very bothered by them still going by The Hollow Knight alone while they couldn't care either way

He'd bring it up again and they just look at him

"You really want me to have a name?"

"That...would be better, I think."

"Okay. Name me, then."

"...what?"

"You're my father. I don't have a name because you never gave me one, so if you want me to have one you should give it to me."

"But...me? Why me?"

"You're my father."

"I know that, but... I don't think I deserve to- Wouldn't you like to name yourself?"

They shake their head, "I do not care either way. I am just fine continuing to go by The Hollow Knight, I would also accept any name you pick for me, I truly don't feel strongly about this."

"But- I- why wouldn't you want to choose? I picked that title for you, I chose the trajectory of your life, I think you should get to choose for once."

"I am choosing. I'm choosing for my father to give me a name. It's Hallownest's tradition for parents to choose names for their hatchlings after they develop their personalities, so if I was to have a name I want it to be a proper one. One my parent would give me."

"...but...why me? Why would you want a name I give you after everything..."

"Doesn't that also apply to my title? The Hollow Knight, or even this nickname Hollow, is something you've given me," They tilt their head, "Is this why you feel so strongly about me choosing a name?"

"..."

Really torn up between continuing to call them Hollow here as shortening of The Hollow Knight or if they should get a name

Because I thought of calling them Echo that that's such a pretty name,, could be named after their quiet disposition

I think they'd be a recluse who doesn't say much and prefers to let their actions speak for themselves, only really talks when spoken to

But for now it's Hollow

I think after Hollow has the five seedlings they might move from living in the ruins of Hallownest and frequently travelling around to the outskirts of Dirtmouth, where they can keep their privacy and relative quietness but where its also considerably safer for the children

Hornet and Pale King would visit frequently, sometimes babysit for them while they go off to have a break (mostly their father, who doesn't mind and even enjoys taking care of these children (he sees this as an opportunity to fix his past mistakes, could never be a father to his child so at least he can help raise his grandchildren), as opposed to Hornet who's probably a very cool aunt but isn't the best with kids in the long run)

I think PK would also settle in Dirtmouth after a while. Spends 50/50 time living there and with his wife

Azalea, the moth, is an old librarian that eventually moved to Dirtmouth after the infection ended. She likes the quiet and keeps to herself, likes to have long conversations over tea, gets along best with Elderbug and PK for that reason...and weirdly enough, somewhat okay with Zote, but only because she likes to listen to people ramble on for hours, he's like a white noise machine to her but she has 0 clue what bro's yapping about.

She meets PK after Hollow moves to Dirtmouth with their seedlings. PK naturally visited them often and even stayed over to help take care of the kids, eventually moving there. They happened to stumble on each other while he was with his grandkids and started chatting. Their love is slow burning they first became friends and slowly came to take care for each other more than that, but it takes PK a long while to realise she's into him and he feels the same. She also eventually learns of his past and doesn't care much, doesn't treat him differently because he was a king, which is a huge relief to him. She enjoys his company and loves flying with him, she rarely gets to do that with anyone anymore. WL is very encouraging to PK about pursuing this relationship, but for a long while he didn't because he had convinced himself that she only sees him as a friend (it won't stop Azalea from making jokes that she's the second woman in the relationship/a mistress). Eventually she gets to meet WL too and they get along, swap funny stories about PK over tea. Eventually Azalea and WL become an item too, but similarly to her with PK it takes a while for them to get together.

Also I've been very tempted to keep Radiance alive for this AU because her reaction and feelings towards 1 out of 2 of her last surviving moths being with HIM would be very entertaining. Azalea doesn't remember their old goddess and would think she's just an ordinary moth and tries to make friends with her because there's so few of their people nowadays, it's good to have somebody you relate to! She occassionaly mentions her lovely centipede boyfriend and Radi truly couldn't give two shits, until she finds out who he is. PK also becomes very protective of Azalea after finding out Radi's alive, suddenly becomes very comfortable with PDA when she's around KDHDBDV Azalea doesn't mind and finds it amusing, but also why is he so clingy all of the sudden?
