There are a couple of angles you can take:
1) Remember that "No" is a full sentence. You can just decline, without elaborating further. As she is your friend, you might want to cushion it a little bit, but you don't have to give any reasoning for not wanting to watch that show. You could try to offer some alternative, too. (Example: "Hey friend, I know you are interested in that new HP series everyone is talking about. Personally, It's just not for me. Therefore, I won't watch it. How about we watch/play/read [other thing] instead?")
If she keeps pushing after that, just redirect her to your "No". If she refuses to accept your boundary, it might be time to reevaluate (parts of) that friendship.
The other angles kind of depend on who your friend is, what she does and doesn't know about Rowling and on what she values. If you want to discuss this with her, try to make it personal. If she is passionate about something (trans rights, workers rights, etc.) focus on that. Avoid arguments she isn't interested in/doesn't care about. You can mix and match as needed, but try to stick to one or two main arguments. (That way, it's easier to keep the discussion on track. It's easy to get sidetracked or derailed, if there are too many arguments floating around. It could also cause her to get overwhelmed - and someone who is overwhelmed is unlikely to listen.)
But lets look at the different angles:
2) Focus on Rowling and her bigotry. She has (and, in a lot of cases, still does):
spread misinformation about transness and trans people. She constantly tries to stir up moral panics about trans women in public bathrooms, prisons and sports.
refused to accept the results of scientific research. She is just as anti-science as many climate change deniers.
used ableist and infantilizing language against autistic people. (This usually boils down to the idea that autistic people do not understand how the world works and should not be allowed to make divisions about themselves and their own bodies.)
supported involuntary conversion therapy. (She also named one of her pseudonyms after Robert Galbraith Heath, a pioneer of conversion therapy. When called out on this, she refused knowing about Robert Galbraith Heath. Apparently, she just really likes the names Robert and Galbraith and had to mash them together without doing a quick google search. She did not change the pseudonym and is still publishing books under that name.)
used her wealth and reputation to influence British politics and lobby against trans rights. (For example, the right to self-ID and the right to trans inclusive healthcare.)
caused and participated in multiple harassment campaigns against women of color, by claiming they were men. One of her targets is Imane Khelif, a female boxer who participated in the Olympic Games 2024. Rowling targeted her, after she won a match against an Italian boxer. She also targeted Lin Yu-ting, another boxer.
She is on record for denying crimes committed by the Nazis. In particular, she called the fact that trans people were targeted by the Nazis as a "fever dream". When called out on this, she doubled down and tried to hide behind semantics. She also allowed literal Neo Nazis to support her on this. Note: When people talk about this, they often use the term "Holocaust Denial" - which it totally is. However, I would refrain from using that term, because it could allow your friend to derail the discussion by focussing on semantics instead of on what Rowling did. Many transphobes and Rowling apologists love to claim that it isn't Holocaust denial, because the Holocaust was about the genocide against Jews and trans people aren't Jews. They will also claim, that it isn't Holocaust denial, because she isn't denying that the Holocaust happened. You really don't want to get swamped with that bullshit, so don't say "Rowling has committed Holocaust denial." Instead, try to be specific. (Example: Rowling called the idea, that trans people were persecuted by the Nazis during the Third Reich, a "fewer dream". This includes her denying the fact that the Nazis raided the Insitut für Sexualwissenschaft and burned its library. (At that time, the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft was the leading research institution for gay, transgender and intersex topics.)
3) Focus on the bigotry in the books. The books just don't have aged well. If the series sticks to the books, there will be a lot of questionable stuff in there. This includes in no particular order:
The houself-plotline that Rowling introduces in Goblet of Fire depicts an enslaved fantasy species that loves working for their masters and sees payment as an insult. They also react with mental health issues and alcoholism, when freed. When Hermione starts to advocate for them, her activism is treated as a joke. Her contemporaries laugh at her, the house elves resent her and the lesson she learns from all of this is "They like it that way!"
There is no fucking progress. At the end of the books, the house elves are still enslaved, Hermione has stopped her activism and “All was well.”
The way, female characters are portrayed in the books, is pretty misogynistic. Firstly, there is just a lack of important female characters in general. (Most characters, especially when it comes to important characters, are male.) Secondly, the female characters that do exist, tend to fall into iffy tropes. Hermione and Ginny fall into the “not like other girls” trope. Adult female characters are often reduced to their roles as wives and mothers. Female characters, who perform femininity wrong, get criticized and condemned by the narrative. (This includes feminine characters who are too feminine, characters who are too masculine and characters who refuse to be good little wives and mothers. Examples are Fleur Delacour, Lavender Brown, Rita Skeeter, Dolores Umbridge and Bellatrix Lestrange.)
There is a lot of colonialist thinking in the books. You can see this in how characters from other countries get stereotyped a lot. It’s also reflected in the way non-wizards are treated.
The teaching methods that are depicted in the books are just awful. Most teachers we see, simply shouldn’t be put into a classroom full of kids. And it’s not just Snape, either. (At least, his teaching “skills” get criticized in the books.) McGonagall plays favorites, while pretending to be fair, Dumbledore regularly endangers the kids in his care (and it’s not just Harry either) and let’s not even try to talk about Hagrid.
There is a lot of fatphobia in the books. It’s mostly reserved for characters who are bad or evil. (Just look at how Dudley is treated, for example.)
There is a lot of ableism in the books.
There is a lot of black-and-white-thinking in the books. Stuff the good guys do, is usually depicted as good, Stuff the bad guys do, is usually depicted as bad and evil. Even if they do the same thing. (Snape or the Slytherins bully Neville? How could they! Outright evil, all of them! Harry or other good Gryffindor characters bully Neville? Oh, that’s just a little bit of fun and comic relief. No big deal.)
In addition the black-and-white-thinking, there is also a lot of mean-spiritedness in the books. On a fundamental level, most characters are pretty mean. And it’s not just the bad/evil characters, either. At times, Harry, Ron and Hermione are pretty mean to other characters and each other. As are good characters like McGonagall and Molly Weasley, and lovely old Hagrid is even worse. Then there are all the bullies on the Gryffindor-side of the good-vs-evil divide. (Mostly the Marauders, but also Fred and George.)
4) Focus on the series itself. It’s very likely, that this series will be nothing but a cash grab. You can point at Fantastic Beasts. It might have started with a pretty solid film, but after that the quality of the films fell down a steep cliff. The films got canceled after film 3. It is very likely that the TV series will suffer the same fate. Because it’s not about revisiting the books and making a high-quality series about them. There are already movie adaptations of the books and they are good enough and new enough. There is no need for another adaptation. So no, it’s not about making a good adaptation. Warner is simply trying to milk their cash cow.
If you are a marauders fan/ you support or are in the queer community then do Not watch the upcoming Harry Potter show! Do not support it! Do not interact with posts in support of it! We do not need anymore content from jkr! Buy the books second hand! Don’t buy official merch! Stop giving your money to her! Stop being transphobic!
Edit: I have a reply in the reblogs to those mentioning to pirate the show

Twelve Christmases
Chapter tags: Michael returns, implied homophobia
read below or on ao3
Day 8: 2017
Tommy hadn't stepped foot in his hometown in fifteen years.
And when he did return home, he hadn't planned on saying much.
He planned on sitting back and watching his father be a disaster with his new family.
A stepmother of eight years that he'd never met.
A stepsister and two stepbrothers he couldn't tell you the names of.
Step nieces and nephews and cousins. Tons of people for his dad to embarrass himself in front of on Christmas day.
What he didn't expect was for them to all be so damn happy.
His stepmom, Tina, laughing and giggling with Michael by her side.
His step siblings giving him a hug.
The kids all running to him, calling him grandpa.
Not a bottle of beer in sight.
It filled Tommy with a rage he hadn't felt in years.
And it caused him to blurt out the one thing he'd only just been able to admit to himself a few months earlier.
“I'm gay.”
The room fell silent, everyone gathered at the table for Christmas dinner. All eyes were on Tommy as he stared down his dad as though he were daring him to react.
The seconds ticking by felt like hours.
“Hm,” Michael finally breathed out. He picked his fork up, motioning around the table. “Come on now, let's eat, food's gettin' cold.”
The silence faded away with the sounds of utensils clanging on dishes, and whispered conversations picking up between guests.
Tommy continued to watch his dad, who was smiling over at Tina as they spoke to one another.
“Hey, congrats,” one of Tommy's stepbrothers (Sam, he thinks), leaned over and said to him.
“Are you congratulating me for being gay?” Tommy deadpanned.
“No, just for like, coming out or whatever. I know- or, well, I've heard- that it's like, ya know, tough and stuff.”
Tommy had to fight back every retort that was popping into his brain. “Yeah,” he agreed. “It's real tough and stuff.”
Then Sam (or is it Jim? Henry? Steve?) reached out and patted his shoulder. “Proud of you, Bro.”
Tommy wished his eyes were laser beams that he could use to shoot directly at the hand Sam-Jim-Henry-Steve touched him with.
Instead, he plastered on a smile. “Thanks.”
*****
They didn't get another chance to speak until everyone else had left. Tina went to get a shower and Tommy found himself in the living room with his dad.
“So?” he started, not bothering to sit. “What have you been holding in?”
Michael, who had been focused on the TV, muted it before turning to look over at Tommy. “What the hell were you thinking?”
“There it is.”
“You don't come around for fifteen damn years and when you finally do, you act like an ass all day long. We sit down for a nice dinner and you say something like that?” he shook his head. “I don't even know what to think of you.”
“I wasn't acting like an ass all day,” Tommy defended. “I've been so unbelievably confused by whatever game you've been playing! Who the hell even are you?”
“I don't know what you're talking about.”
“I have never, not once, seen you sober on Christmas. Hell, I never really saw you on Christmas at all. When I did, it was a nightmare! You certainly weren't picking me up and spinning me around like you did those kids today. It's all some weird ass show you're putting on.”
“Hey!” Michael stood, standing face to face with his son. “It is not a show. I love that woman and all the people that come with her!”
“So that's what this is? You just never loved mom? Or me?”
“Your mom was weak, Tommy! She didn't know what I needed.”
“No, that was the problem!” Tommy yelled, poking at Michael's chest, “She was only ever here for what you needed!”
Michael smacked Tommy's hand away. “We're not talking about this right now. We're gonna talk about that- that lie you told at dinner just to try and upset me.”
Tommy stood up straight, his heart pounding. “It's not a lie. I'm gay.”
“No, you're not.”
“I think I'd know a little better than you.”
“I will not...” Michael's voice trailed off as he breathed heavily through his nose. Tommy was pretty sure fire would be coming out if that were possible.
“What?” Tommy taunted. “You will not what?”
“I want you out of my house,” Michael said, teeth gritted together. “I don't need you around my family.”
Tommy huffed out a laugh. “Around your family? What am I then, Dad?”
“An embarrassment!” Michael screamed, no hesitation.
Tommy pursed his lips, nodding. “Now that's the dad I know,” he said, his voice wavering slightly. “I'll get my stuff, leave tonight.”
As he left the living room and headed down the hall, he stopped when he saw Tina standing in the doorway of the main bedroom. It was just like his mom used to do all those years ago.
“Tommy,” she said, her voice quiet, sad. “You don't have to go tonight. You can stay.”
Tommy shook his head. “No, I'm not gonna stay. Thank you though.”
He continued toward his childhood bedroom to grab his things. He'd never really unpacked anyway.
“I didn't know,” she said, stopping him again. He turned back to her. “I've never heard him like that before.”
He smiled at her sadly. “It's okay,” he assured her. “I have.”

Sims In Bloom: Generation 2 Pt. 112 (Spending Time With Family)
To mark Sportsball Sunday, River invited the Nesbitt-Gordons to Henford to watch the big game, but Heather was forced to stay behind in Brindleton Bay to work. (I was playing as the Nesbitts and invited the whole household over, but Heather never showed up!) Conrad was off duty and took Ash and Lavender to Heather's childhood home on his own - a big step considering how his past had been revealed before the holidays.
But this year's game wasn't that exciting, and the family was more content to spend time together - especially after they arrived in the midst of River extinguishing his own wife after a toilet fire! Time with family would always mean the most.
Though Cass was fine and the burns only on her clothing, Daisy remembered her fear after a similar incident left their youngest daughter, Hazel, with burn scars as a child. "We really need to replace that toilet, Neal."
He nodded in agreement. "You're right, love. It's time."
Lavender quickly found the upstairs stereo blasting Cassandra's favourite Latin music. "Auntie Cass dance?"
"I can teach you some moves," she offered warmly. "But only if you teach me your moves first."
Lavender loved sounds as much as she loved books, and she danced with her aunt to the music while Ash played with Michael in the yard.
(Lavender's 3 toddler quirks: Loves Sounds, Loves Books, and Destructive)
At halftime, River took Conrad outside. "I wanted to show you something, because I never would have come up with the idea if not for you. Remember when you suggested we try getting Mike to sleep by reading him The Giving Tree?"
"Of course. I'm glad it worked."
"We both fell in love with the story. And Henford has so many incredible old trees that can give us so much without ever being cut down like the tree in the book. Isle of Volpe Park needs a natural playground for people of all ages to enjoy or take shelter if it rains, and I think we need to build a treehouse there."
"We?"
"Mayor Varner gave me planning permission, but he said the town can pay for the materials, not the labour. So I thought we could turn it into a campout and community building project at the beginning of spring, but I want you and Ash to be there, too...If you can get away from work."
"I'll talk to Heather, but it sounds like a great idea, Riv."
"Shut your stupid face, I'm not a lamp sim!" cried five-year-old Michael, racing into the house as Ash smirked in his wake.
"Then why's your ear plugged in?"
"Hey! What did you say to him?" Ash had never heard Conrad speak to him more sternly, and he turned back in surprise. Heather's family stood back quietly, refusing to intervene.
"He said he has a hearing aid, but he's not deaf. He doesn't even know SSL!"
"So? He doesn't need it. Not everyone who uses a hearing aid is deaf."
"Well, it looks funny."
"Ash, I want you to apologize to your cousin for being rude."
"He's a jerk, I don't want to!"
"So he said something that made you mad, and you made fun of his hearing aid in retaliation? Even though you're older and more mature than him, and you know better?"
Ash was quiet. "...I'll apologize."
Conrad nodded. "And you better get used to hanging out with your cousin. As long as your mom agrees, you and me are going camping in Isle of Volpe Park with your Uncle River and cousin Michael in the spring to help build a treehouse."
Ash's eyes lit up. "A treehouse? I'll go camping with just you? No mommy, no Lavender?"
"This will be a boys weekend," said his Uncle River. "Just camping in the national park and building a treehouse together."
Ash's grandfather, Neal, joined them outside in his outerwear after a quick run through Finchwick. "And when it's done, you can play in the treehouse, too - but not if you're going to be mean to your cousin. I'll make you stay at the house pulling up weeds with your grandmother and me."
Ash went inside to apologize, and Neal studied Conrad closely. "You're good with him," he noted with a smile. "He respects you. Keep that up. He needs your influence."
"I'm surprised you'd say that after finding out I kept my past from everyone. And we still haven't solved the case."
"But since then, my family still sleeps soundly in their beds at night. I know I don't have to tell you how important it is to put all of this behind you, but you're a good man. We all know you're trying."
Conrad returned home that night with the kids, grateful he'd had a chance to clear the air with his future father-in-law. But Heather was dismayed when he reported how Ash had treated his cousin. She took away his TV privileges for a week, and Conrad spoke to Ash again over a game of chess.
"You don't know this about me, but when I was younger, I used hearing aids until I was big enough to have surgery to repair my inner ears. My hearing was a lot worse than Michael's, but I wasn't deaf."
"I saw a picture of you with Daddy when you were kids, and you weren't wearing anything on your ears except glasses."
He nodded. "I didn't like to wear them all the time because people made fun of me. But when I didn't wear them it was always harder on me than it was on anybody else."
Ash considered this. "I shouldn't have told Michael he was a lamp sim," he admitted. Though he'd apologized already, only now did he truly understand why.
"You don't want to go through life being a bully," Conrad assured him. "People don't like bullies. You're a great kid, and I care about you just as much as I care about your sister, but if someone makes you feel bad, you don't have to make them feel bad in return. Talk about it with your mom and me, instead, because we want to make sure you always know how much we love you."
Ash smiled. "I love you, too, Conrad."
Heather was proud of the way Conrad had handled Ash's behaviour, and not least because River texted about Neal's approval before Conrad and the kids had returned to Brindleton Bay.
But her swooning pride was interrupted by a knock at the door, and she was shocked to see Hazel standing before her with a suitcase.
"Can I stay with you a while? I quit my job and Nicola divorced me. Just like that. She walked into the courthouse and ended it like we haven't been together for almost a decade."
"What do you mean she divorced you? And why did you quit your job?"
Hazel rolled her eyes. "Have you got three days? That might be how long it takes me to tell the story."
"Well, Dandelion, you can stay here as long as you need. So if it'll take three days to find out what happened, you better get started." ->
<- Previous Chapter | Gen 2 Start | Gen 2.1 Summary
Gen 1 Start | Gen 1 Summary
Stretching Hazel and Nicola's story over three days allowed me to push some other parts of the story to after the (real life) holidays, which I liked, and it kept Hazel and Nicola's post from being too long for a one-off. So Hazel and Nicola's Cozy Celebrations will start tomorrow but still finish up on Christmas Eve, and the Nesbitt-Gordons will be back in focus on December 26th when the family volunteers at a soup kitchen.

I really don't get how Lea could ever think they and the Hunter were a team, when apparently they knew about the collar thing while the hunter didn't even know??? They are the literal embodiment of the Hunter's alienation and dehumanization. Will Lea (and the narrative) ever acknowledge how fucking despicable the order actually is??? They're a bunch of child abusers who prey on poor families and practice human trafficking. On that note I actually deeply despise the Hunter's mentor. That fight scene with him forcing us to stand up again and again? I don't care that the same was done to him and he did it to make the Hunter stronger or whatever. That was the same logic my grandmother had when she hit my mother, and she would have done the same to us if my mother hadn't cut ties with her and broke the cycle of generational violence. I'm sorry. I probably shouldn't play this game right now as it very clearly trigger some things within me that I should address elsewhere than in your ask box, but I guess I needed to express how helpless the Hunter made me feel. Especially with Lea. My character (and myself I guess) couldn't sit down and have a normal conversation with them given how blind they were to the Hunter's situation, and that was even before I understood what the collar thing truly meant after replaying the demo and reading the last snippet you published. Lea comes from a powerful family with ties everywhere, they are literally called our 'handler', and they know what the ladder does to someone (both short term and long term, mentally and physically)... And they truly think them and the Hunter are the same??? Equals??? The only explanation I can find is that they grew up their entire life within the order and never knew anything else, and so this is a case of great ignorance and deep denial. They need a good wake up call and a lot of character development, but when I see Noel's reaction and Lea's behavior during their rival route, I'm kinda worried.
well... i mean most of what you've mentioned here is The Point. Lea is a hypocrite, and the hunter can argue with them and refuse their partnership because of it. Jorah is an asshole and treated the hunter poorly at times, to the point that him and Rodrick argued about it frequently, and is why Rodrick attempts to intervene when they spar. the Order does cause harm and coerces people into their ranks, usually children or those that are more vulnerable and lack other options; and this is always true no matter how the hunter tries to justify it and convince themselves otherwise. all of the people and institutions in this game are complex, none of them are righteous, and they exist as they do because i have something i want to say-- all of these are choices i've intentionally made when writing this story.
and we're only on chapter 1 right now (and even before the rerelease, only on chapter 2), all of the characters need character development, none of their arcs have even started yet.
this story is supposed to make you Feel, big feelings and little feelings, my goal is for people to connect with the characters or at the very least just empathize with them and have a desire to see their stories through. i'm not out to trigger people but this game is intended to be a dark fantasy that explores heavier topics. i'm always open to discussing my thoughts behind certain characters/narrative choices and i will always welcome suggestions if you feel i need to add something to the content warning list, but i really don't like asks like this, and i'm not really sure how to respond as a stranger on the internet. you can either trust me and my intent as the author, or maybe it would be better to not continue with the story if that's what is best and safest for you. only you can know and make that choice, not me.
#no judgement either way i have the content warnings there for a reason i know this story isnt for everyone & can be upsetting#but i would appreciate in the future. for people to not vent personal traumas to me in my inbox#ask#anonymous

So, I read the response above which is so interesting, and I want to keep thinking about it, and then after that had these interesting tags in my feed from @bloodyentrails...
#i think that sam being compassionate towards certain people is kinda normal we tend to relate on a personal level#and him being queer-coded etc doesn't mean you have to care about him#just that that is a thing?#idk what kind of discourse i'm wandering into a lot of the time but relating to characters#and understanding they have been written in a certain way isn't the same thing#which is to say that i would love it if the writing had tackled that inconsistency#but i find that the show on the whole is inconsistent#and i think it's hard to maintain consistency over so many years with so many people working on it#i do think both of them are *trying* to be good people and they sometimes fail and also what constitutes a good person is kinda open#anyway#bear in mind i'm still only halfway through so#maybe i'll change my mind on all this#spn
It's a point worth considering that in the world of the show, Sam's sympathy for monsters seems principled and some how defies gravity, but that in the real world it wouldn't translate to anything real; that's likely true, and an interesting point. Having said that, I think Sam is pretty clearly not particularly"real world" compassionate, and I don't need monsters to make the argument that Sam is not the compassionate one because he shows a general lack of empathy towards PEOPLE, including but by no means limited to Dean, throughout the show. And, ok, he sometimes argues for a compassionate response to monsters and Dean doesn't always respond favourably, but that's because Sam fears he is one, and he needs to believe monsters are not all bad, which is not borne out of compassion, it's a rationalization that serves his psychological needs.
Basically, I think Sam is all surface. Sam is the urbane one, the smart one, the compassionate one, the one who talks nice to people, the broadly queer-coded one, the feminist, etc., but with Sam, all that is skin deep. He APPEARS as such! He's good at pretending, but he's nearly as savage as John is, Dean is much more sensitive to other people's needs, Dean is every bit as clever as he is, and intuitive to boot, Sam can ACT compassionate, but in fact he isn't really very empathetic to anyone, and he is able to just move on from all the things Dean just can't, Sam's not in fact queer, but Dean is queered to his fucking bones, and Sam's the one whose unconsciously replicated misogyny allows him to think any woman that would be into Dean is obviously a whore, and to keep his girlfriend in the dark about the truth of his life, while Dean is just talking a big game of cartoon misogyny TO SAM while treating the women he interacts with pretty fucking respectfully, actually.
Honestly, it's the same as the way Sam is supposedly the 'main character'. He's introduced as the one we should care about and identify with, but within, like, two episodes, he's really just a foil for Dean. Sam has BIG PLOTS, but it's Dean's feelings, reactions and relationships we really care about.
And, the fact is, Sam was pretty well-realized in the earlier eps. JarPad was giving it some effort, and he was charming then with his boyishness -- the way he seemed like he hadn't fully lived into his physical real estate -- but the thing is, he never could really hold a candle to Dean who was just magnetic. All the interesting character development was given to Dean and Jensen killed it by always making it seem like Dean had so much going on under the surface, and like, to the extent I care about Sam, it's because Dean loves him.
I kind of wonder what happened. Was Dean always meant to be the dark horse hero? Or was Dean just...played by a better, more compelling actor, and they started writing for him instead? There are so many much more interesting things they could have done with Sam, and they just...DIDN'T.
I dunno, I suppose it could just be me, but I feel like the way Sam just SEEMS, Dean IS.
maybe this is me being a dumb overly literal autist stemlord who simply does not understand literary theory or some shit equivalent but why should i care about someone being coded as [X] when i can just. care about someone who is [X]. why should i care more about the conventionally attractive white woman with a job and mortgage because she's metaphorically othered due to being a supernatural creature when i could care about the actually othered addicts that she used as a source of food. help me out here.

michelle's buddie fic recs: week 51!
almost the last fic rec list of the year, can you believe it? like last week, i haven't cross-referenced this list with previous ones, so apologies for any potential double recs!
this is a mix of fics with all ratings, so some include NSFW content. please take a look at both the ratings and the fic tags before reading! some might also contain spoilers for season 8.
if you come across something you like in this list, remember to show some love to the author by leaving kudos and a comment!
before the night fades | MilenaDaniels/@milenadaniels| 8.6k | T
EddieAna and BuckTaylor double date and it ruins everyone's night. this fic is one of my favourite outsider povs ever! it does such a wonderful job of capturing our 911 characters as well as fleshing out a lovely cast of ocs <3
chicken alfredo | EiraLloyd/@unlifeira | 4.6k | T
when Helena laughs at the idea that her son is now able to cook well, Buck ropes Eddie into proving her otherwise. this captures the buddie dynamic so so well <3 also made me hungry lol
do you want me (or do you want me dead) | carpediaz/@sofa-king-lame | 2.3k | T
The one where Buck finds out Eddie wears reading glasses and loses his fucking mind over them, and Eddie knows exactly what he's doing. eddie in reading glasses is a VISION holy shit buck is so relatable in this. i love the silly fun!!
emails i can't send | heartbeatdiaz/@lonelychicago | 6k | T
buck should've known better than to let his email account open and then give his computer to a toddler to play with. i love love love the formatting of this one, with the emails and everything <3 so so good!! they're just french angelfish <3
i took a little journey to the unknown | 42hrb/@exhuastedpigeon | 4.3k | T
“I-it’s okay, you don’t have to talk,” Buck says and the comforting warmth is back on Eddie’s hand. The only thought that rings clearly through his head is that Buck’s hand is safe. Buck is going to keep him safe. “Just - can you squeeze my hand if you’re awake?” this is just such a lovely fic. i love the character study elements and the hand holding and just <3
in the dark (with the stars) | tawaifeddiediaz/@aashiqeddiediaz | 13k | M
Eddie’s relationship with food, anxiety and cooking, as told through the past and present. eddie's relationship with food in both canon and fanon is absolutely fascinating to me. i loved this take on it so much <3
last first kiss | songbvrd/@songbvrd | 3.4k | GA
Buck tries to say goodbye. Eddie isn't ready. frankly i think the best promo i can give this fic is exactly what i said in my comment here, which is "tim minear better be taking notes" because wow it's just that good <3
lucky boy | serenelystrange/@serenelystrange | 1.9k | T
In which Buck and Eddie are so bad at being in a secret relationship, but instead of show-typical angst, fluff! secret relationship buddie, the gift that keeps on giving <3 exactly the fic i needed on a cold early bus ride this week!!
platonic co-parents don't kiss like we do | thelikesofus/@thelikesofus | 7.1k | M
5 times other people see Buck and Eddie kiss + 1 time they really mean it. i love love love all these different types of kisses <3 the loveliest buddie fic from the perspective of the firefam!!
take what the water gave me | Daisies_and_Briars/@cal-daisies-and-briars | 20.7k | M
New transfer to the 118, Eddie Diaz, has a secret. And upon getting to know his coworker, Buck, who is also hiding something, he begins to suspect their secret is the same. He's wrong. i've been devouring every little snippet of this fic i've seen on tumblr and i was so so excited to see the full thing land in my inbox! and wow did it not disappoint. such great worldbuilding and such a fantastic characterisation of eddie <3
the bunkroom fic | exvichan | 11.5k | T
The Station 118 bunkroom has witnessed a lot over the years. Private conversations, spats, occasions of affection, joy, and anguish. It’s seen pranks, and games, and camaraderie. It’s even been privy to an unfolding love story or two. It holds the memory of each of these moments. the 118 bunkroom my beloved <3 i love these little moments so much, especially the conversations between the firefam!!
the wayward son | brewrosemilk/@gayhoediaz | 56.9k | E
Eddie misses his son, grows a mustache, pines after his best friend, and becomes a regular at a gay sex club. That last part is either an indulgence or an inevitable, somewhat self-destructive conclusion to several decades worth of compulsory heterosexuality and catholic guilt. Don’t ask him which. i can't even capture the vibe of this fic in just a few lines but holy shit is it brilliant. the most incredibly writing, great characterisation, and also just very hot stuff. an immediate bookmark and new favourite!
#haven't been on here a ton so i'm super behind on tags and such#but i wanted to dip back in for this rec list#and hopefully a new fic chapter tonight <3#i'll be properly back as soon as life calms down#so i'll see yall soon hehe#buddie#buddie fic#buddie fic rec#911 abc#911 fic#911 fic rec#michelle’s recs#fic rec list

What would be paul love Language be i feel it'd be a mix of acts of service be they sexual or platonic and physical touch, what about the other drivers love languages?
Also yes i did mean paul off handedly mentioning something about aron!reader that caught their attention, love the way you wrote it out btw.
–🍑
oh i'm glad i read it the right way! and very glad you liked it <3
there's so many possibilities with this so i'd like everyone to remember that this is just my interpretation / characterisations of the drivers. and also i probably won't stick into one love language and just go broader with how they show affection.
under cut bc, as in the ask, suggestive content
paul aron:
okay so first you're absolutely right abt him
he's showing how much he loves you by doing things he hopes will make your day easier or better
sometimes that means making you breakfast or texting you photos of the animals he sees on his training runs
and sometimes it means letting you use him like a toy
either way he's 100% up for it
charles leclerc:
if he had his way, you'd never be out of arm's reach
i'm convinced he'd try to get ferrari to let him bring you into team meetings, even if you had to wear noise-cancelling headphones
he'd also be giving you little gifts pretty much non-stop
every time he comes back from a race he's gotten you at least one souvenir
you have to build a display case and everything
max verstappen:
okay for starters his dad definitely messed him up so he has trouble with verbally expressing affection
so he shows it in other ways
he makes the bed every morning, makes your favourite drink (coffee, tea, etc), makes sure all of your favourite foods are stocked up before he leaves for race weekends
he's also definitely into being free use for you but you do need to be careful about it because he's still getting used to safe words, so you need to know his body language and cues really, really well
oscar piastri:
i think in public he's more interested in subtle acts of affection
opening doors, opening food, making sure you eat, making sure you don't get overwhelmed in the paddock, that sort of thing
behind closed doors i think he'd be more blatant?
we know oscar likes to keep his private life private
i think he'd be the kind of guy to just randomly blurt out that he loves you or that he's grateful for you out of nowhere
i also think he'd like playing board games or video games with you because it just gives him a chance to be oscar and not oscar piastri, f1 driver
i'm also very inclined to believe that he's a dom-leaning switch and a bottom. he jokes about it too much and he's built too much like an hourglass for me to believe otherwise
would definitely ride you while calling you a good boy.

Hii!! I saw your post asking for ideas of what to write for Idia’s birthday and I just had to say something! (Feel free to ignore this ofc)
The whole crush trope is one of my obsessions along with Idia so I would love to see how you write Idia realizing that he has a crush on reader who is yuu. Like reader has also their otaku side (way more chill that Idia ofc) and they are patient with him so they got to form a pretty frienship with him and also helped him a lot after his overblot
You can omit this part if you want but im thinking of a really kind and sweet reader who besides Idia has befriended most of the twst cast, but they can act pretty shy if the situation is too overwhelming(?
Idk if that makes sense and sorry for the request and thank you for your time :)
of course i'll take on your request! i really like it too :3 so i'll try my best to write it, and write it well!!
Idia Shroud x Yuu(who is the reader)
no warnings! it's all gonna be fluff :333 but like it has hints of angst but ya know- that's idia for ya :/
It's been quite a long time since you and Idia have become friends, you still remember how you first got to know each other. Idia's brother, Ortho, has found out about your shared interest for gaming and anime and thought that you'd make a great first irl friend for Idia. And the very first moment you got introduced to him you knew that you two really are similar, and it wasn't just Ortho's exaggerated view point.
You both were shy and afraid of social interactions, you both enjoy video games and let's not forget that whenever you got the chance you'd talk Ace's and Deuce's ears off about the various animes you've watched. So you two really do have a lot in common. It's just that Idia seems to distant himself from others, never wanting to leave his room and only going out if he really needed to. And how could you call yourself his good friend if you don't try to make an effort to make his sad life a little better?
And that effort has worked too well. Because now everytime you are even mentioned Idia's heart feels heavy. If before he was just shy yet kind of willing to let you into his life now he feels as if something is totally wrong! Everytime you two hang out he feels as if there's a tugging feeling inside his chest, telling him to get closer and hug you.
The tips of his hair turn a light pink as his face reddens, he chokes a for a moment on nothing as he stares at your form. You were playing games at the moment and Idia couldn't help but think that you are the most beautiful thing in the world. Yet like always Idia tends to go towards the negative outlook on life instead of a positive one, and that leaves him with a bitter taste in his mouth. He remembers that day, or rather specifically that fight.
"Why do you still come hang out with me?" you hear him ask with that soft voice of his. What a stupid question you think to yourself, doesn't he know that you come here to have fun? "What do you mean?" "do you just not remember a week ago?" you put down the controller you held and turned to fully look at him "ya know... When I went berserk and tried to unleash a bunch of monsters out to the world????" "you mean when you overbloted? Yeah I remember. It doesn't change the way I feel about you." Somehow these words pulled harder at his heart, as if you were pulling his very soul closer and closer towards you.
"Ever since I met you you were always showing signs of mental problems, and I still decided to become friends with you." now that Idia thinks about it, he did act like he had no real purpose. And now there's a nagging part in his brain that thinks otherwise.. why did feelings have to be so confusing and weird!? Is what he thinks.
"Well I don't get feelings either...." you say as if you read his mind, "but I'd like to ask, since you brought up the subject," "brought up the subject?" Idia whispers "what do you feel?" Now Idia is completely pink. From his hair to his face, if he could get redder he would! "Did I say that outloud!?" he panics. "Did you not mean to? Shouldn't friends tell eachother their problems and try to help eachother out?" Something about you saying that he's ''just a friend'' makes his heart sink. As if he's falling down after his overblot again, down and down until he hits rock bottom.
"Idia please...." you reach out for him, like you're trying to pull him up, to stop him from falling. "tell me what's wrong." Maybe he should explain the way he feels. Maybe he should try to understand that weird tugging feeling he has. Maybe it's something he just never felt before, and you are the cause of it, the reason he's been feeling more happy than what he's past self has felt on a regular basis.
There's no way it is romantic love...Right?
And he reaches out, holding your hand in his, letting you help him from the endless falling. Getting him out of that pit of dark thoughts. "I love you." You tell him, and he never hit rock bottom once you said that.
All of the sudden he's pink again, and as these words loop through his brain he gets it. That tugging, pulling feeling on his chest, his heart, was his love for you. His yearning to be with you. The want to make you happy as he keeps you by his side to maintain his happiness too.
But he's not deserving..
Is what his old self would've said. But now he knows that if he wants to be with you just as much as you want to be with him, saying no will just harm you. Saying no will just push you away and make you feel as if doesn't want that as well. So he does something he would've never thought he'll do in his life.
"I-I love you too!"
He says shakily as he leans forward to peck your lips, and you too, lean into it making his birthday a happy memory in his eyes again.

Saw an old picture of Cooch playing wordle with the sharks equipment manager and I have got to ask. Is he a word games guy. Was he pulled into it or do you think he instigated. Does he have a NYT games account.
There is no reason you should know but I feel like your augury will be closer than anyone else I can think of (or at least more fun)
WELL. He had a book club during the pandemic so canonically he can read and loves to share literacy. And Wordle is a good game not just because it works your brain but also bc you have a limited number of chances before you legally have to go to idiot jail, which for a man as chronically depressed as Cooch, it does feel like he would enjoy the challenge. I bet he has an NYT game account. I bet bro loves the honey comb one.
This is giving me a perfect excuse to talk about one of my favorite articles from Corey Masisak's tenure with the Sharks: the Sharkies' lil nerd ass bookclub. You may have read this already bc you've been in these trenches but here are my favorite excerpts. There's a lot of Reimer in the article and while I don't care for the man or his politics, he does have some fascinating insight into why the Sharks are cringe nerds (so much travel time)
He likes to share books with guys on the team!! He's the team librarian!! Drop your book talk Cooch I wanna see something. It actually tracks because every librarian I've ever worked with was deeply and chronically mentally ill. This is why we need more mundane workplace aus that aren't coffeeshop aus.
in my sexiest imagine, Logan is an extremo depressed burnt out librarian and Thomas Bordeleau is the guy who has to do community service due to getting arrested for idk stealing a doctor's prescription pad and starting a black market estrogen prescription economy. And now he has to just, teach Bordy how to read so Bordy can pull holds. And its not making Logan less depressed.
Logan Couture 🤝 Bryce Harper: reading pulp novels so they can get away from the horrors of being an athlete. Wait let me cook. What if I was an athlete who read copaganda novels and you were an athlete who read hockey romance novels...and we never even met
The thing about John Grisham, Jimmy Pat, and Lee Child is that the people who checked out those books the most ofte at my library were like 80 year old women, who would read approximately 7-10 books a week. From this we can conclude Cooch is an old woman. Do you think he does the kinds of fiber arts crafts you have to learn from a book and not a Tiktok
This excerpt isn't about Cooch but I feel its critical knowledge: Pickles hasn't read a book in at least 3-4 years
The real bomb we're throwing here is if Pickles doesn't read books but does do the NYT crossword puzzle every day and has a streak. I mean maybe he's doing like, my first crossword puzzle for kids, but EYE like thinking about him seriously working on the Sunday crossword for an entire flight. I would say he completes it perfectly but he made fun of Nick Bonino's ereader and made Nick got mad as hell and EXPOSED him
Words are still words you're SO right king. It's not about the format or the length or the type of book you read. It's about reading . Because to read, to use your words, to engage in the action of imagination, education, storytelling and build, is to live. And I include nonfiction in that. And also audiobooks.
Also thank you for your kind words about my augury, that really made me smile 💙💙🦈🦈
#which is why i didn't finish one single book this year LMAO wasn't living!#i rarely make specific new years resolutions but my goal next year is to finish one book per month#i can't let logan couture down....he's here to promote literacy i gotta remain literate...for him....#cage replies#fossore#san jose sharks

Nahoya is gonna sleep on the couch for trying to get you riled up, but a quick fuck might make the punishment more enjoyable. Married, fem reader. m.d.n.i.
Tw: degradation, masturbation
WC: 1.3 k ish.
A/n: is it out of character? Yes. Kinda. But I write how I want to. Also not proof read. It's 4:00 in the morning I don't have time for that. -Taken from my archived account @/ yejiroh-
1…
2…
3 ...
The digital alarm clock that sat on your nightstand struck 12:00 o’clock, and once again, Nahaoya was not home. Probably cleaning and closing down the shop, you figured. But did it really take 3 hours? He’s been staying out late, saying that he was saving for his “pretty girl,” and honestly,
You missed him.
The ache between your legs grew as the A.C. turned on, the automatic function seeming to catch on at the worst sides; his side of the bed was getting cold.
Still, you kept your eyes open, no matter how heavy they became. All the way until the alarm went off once again, signaling the turn of the hour- now 1:00 o’ clock.
And whoa and behold, the front door’s locks clicked open- your husband had come home.
Quickly, you turned over, keeping your eyes closed as you tried to steady your breathing. There would be no acknowledgement tonight. Not if you could handle it.
Hearing his heavy footsteps come closer, and the lights in the halls flicking on, you sucked in a breath as your bedroom door opened- and again as you felt the bed dip from his weight.
A hand came to your waist, running down your sides as your husband relaxed. He bent over, kissing your cheek before sighing.
“‘Missed you, baby,”
Your eyes opened, albeit abruptly, before you quickly turned over, grabbing the hand that lay on your wrist.
“Pardon?”
Nahoya smiled, his peachy curls bouncing. “I knew you were awake. You’re not slick.”
He flicked your nose before laying down,
“Is that what you wanted to say? That you missed me? That you needed me? That you wanted me? That it pretty girl? You know I’m busy, don’tcha?”
He turned over, grabbing one of your hands before placing your index in his mouth, running his tongue over it, sucking it lightly.
“ ‘hoya…”
With a ‘pop’ he released it, laughing.
“You missed me so much you’d get wet just from me sucking your finger? I haven’t even been gone that long, Y/n.”
“ ‘hoya, that’s not fair…”
“Uh-uh. What’s not fair is not tellin’ me what you want and denying yourself. That’s what’s not fair, baby. “
Grabbing your hand again, he licked your index, then kissed your knuckles.
“Look at these nails, baby. Who paid for these?”
“You…”
“That’s right. And do remember why?”
He was playing you, you realized. Playing you like a fiddle just so he could get fucked. Staying out late just so you would get needy, whiny, and eventually, mean.
Two could play at that game.
You pulled your hand away, putting the finger he had been sucking on in your own mouth, watching as his breath hitched. He was getting excited.
Taking your finger out of your mouth, you examined your nails, the peachy pink that matched his hair so well not chipped and still glossed over. The set he wanted to see on his dick.
“You told me to get these to wrap around your dick.”
“I did,”
You sat up, placing a hand to his chest before straddling him. Nahoya hadn’t changed into his pajamas yet- he’d been too busy trying to stir you. . taking his tie, you tied his hands to the bedpost, watching as his chest rose and fell faster, feeling his crotch get warmer underneath your thighs.
“Pretty girl?”
“Hush, ‘hoya. You’re not getting a say in anything tonight.”
“Oh? And why is that?”
“‘Cause, you’re an asshole. Staying out late just to get a good fuck.” You mimicked him. “You’re not slick.”
You unbuttoned his shirt, making a point to crease it as you tucked the sides underneath him. His nipples were hard, goosebumps rising as the cold air hit him. Hooking a finger under his pants, you yanked them down, looking up to grin at him before yanking his boxers down, his hard cock resting against his stomach, tip leaking.
“Y/n?”
You got off him, untying his hands before pointing at his dick.
“Make yourself feel good. Tell me how it feels, ‘hoya.”
“Huh?”
“Jerk yourself off like I had to every night you decided to stay out late. You thought that was funny? As a matter of fact, you probably jerked off enough thinking of me playing with myself, right? What a pervert you are.”
Nahoya glared at you, reaching out just for you to take a step back.
“I untied you so you could know how it feels. Go on, ‘hoya.”
The smile on his face was nowhere to be seen, except for a smirk.
“Alright. Fine, I will. “
Bringing his hands to his cock, he gripped it and starting from the base he made his way up. Over and over again, he ran his hand up and down. Little pants of excitement soon turned into pants of frustration as he couldn't seem to get off.
"Y/n...I need your help."
"Sorry?"
"I...I need your help."
You scooted closer to him, kissing his cheek before patting his tip.
"Don't worry, honey. If I could get off by myself, so can you! You can do it. I believe in you!"
Your husband grits his teeth, getting more aggravated as his hand went faster. He spits into his hand as if trying to provide some sort of lubricant.
And as his frustration grew, so did yours. Watching him play with himself wasn't supposed to make you feel bad; it wasn't your punishment. But still, seeing him get sweaty and hearing his heavy breaths made your own neediness rise.
Finally, you crawled back to him, taking his hands away from his dick.
"You're fucking pathetic, ya know that, 'hoya? Can't even get off on your own, yeah?"
His head hit the pillows, lips parted as you gripped his cheeks. Slipping your panties off, you guided his dick to your entrance, slowly letting it fill you up. Lord, you had forgotten this feeling. How Nahoya's cock filled you up so well was the world's eighth greatest mystery. The underside vein throbbed against your gummy walls, and the both of you moaned.
"You're still not in the clear, 'hoya. Don't you forget that. I'm just using you to feel good. After this, you're going to sleep on the couch for the next week. Understood?"
"Yes'm!"
Your pussy clenched and he gasped, his back arching, pushing his cock deeper into you. You had forgotten how sensitive he was.
Gripping your thighs, he raised you up before pulling you back down.
Your mouth opened, wanton moans slipping from your tongue. Oh, you had missed this.
Becoming drunk on the feeling of his cock dragging against you, arousal came down your legs and onto Nahoya.
He pressed two fingers to your clit, rubbing circles on it fast.
Going faster, seemingly chasing after his own orgasm, but you were close too.
Tears formed at the corners of his eyes, and his grip got stronger, nearly bruising your thighs.
Nahoya's moans turned into whines as you took the lead again, putting your hands in his hair as you bounced on his cock, taking great care not to pull too harshly on his curls, knowing how tender-headed he could get.
Leaning over, your breasts pressed against his chest, and you kissed him greedily. That seemed to be the breaking point. Nahoya gasped loudly as his legs shook violently underneath you, his hands moving from your thighs to your waist, hugging it. He pulled himself closer to you as he came- hot spurts of coming shooting into you. Then gripping your shoulders, he panted heavily, and then you came, right after him. You squirted, juices covering both him and you, and you practically screamed.
He pulled out, then pulled you down on top of him, hands going to your ass, kneading the flesh before giving it a lovely pat.
Sticky and satisfied, you pushed yourself up, smiling at him.
"You're still sleeping on the couch."

Thank you for the tag :)
Uhhh let's see. Okay easy
1. The pixar movie Cars (2006). Not even the trilogy I could talk about the movie Cars forever. Me and several of my friends sat down and watched the trilogy and got really deep into the religious aspects and consequences of both a car Pope and when Mac uses the term "Thank the Manufacturer!". But seriously there's some interesting stuff. It relates to Homestuck somehow. It's also a Hallmark movie but I digress.
2. Five nights at Freddy's. Listen I grew up with/ as the series came out, and if someone sat me down and explained the current, up to date lore my head would explode. But I COULD tell you what my perspective of the lore is as someone who's grown with it and has made their own personal opinions/retcons on it.
3. Yu-Gi-Oh. Only first gen sorry. I grew up on it, know most of the series one lore outside of the specifics of season 5. The way the show makes and breaks it's own rules, and the way the show is so so far from today's playing rules for the card game is ASTOUNDING. But mostly the characters, I think there's some REALLY interesting lore/relationship shit going on that fully envelope me every time during the yearly Yugioh hyperfixation week.
4. Call of duty. Listen I don't do a lot of call of duty stuff, I'm not huge into all the games outside of Black Ops Cold War, but I fucking love the reboot Modern Warfare 2 and I have some really strong opinions on why story wise it became so popular. If you want people to give a shit about your characters, you have GOT to give them TIME with those characters. Also might get sniped for this but black ops 6 having "bosses" where you had to chip at a fucking health bar belongs in exactly ZERO call of duty games. Not sorry. It works if it's a tank, not an armored guard.
5. Fandom culture. Especially on places like AO3. There's a really really strange gap between how much people love their fanfiction/"need it to survive" versus how many people give kudos or COMMENT. I comment on nearly every fic I read. Several paragraphs worth on ones I love. Respect your authors work, and THANK THEM. It can be as simple as a "I loved x part!" Or "Thank you for writing!"
I tag @dwinjohnsel, @velcrooooo, @merthur-phandom, @folkloricstranger , and @bugwatcher6000 :)
Rules: List five topics you can talk about for an hour without preparing any material, and tag five people!
doctor who. boy can i talk about doctor who
the reformation and late medieval/early modern history more broadly
the edge chronicles
the peter o'toole henry ii cinematic universe
douglas adams' books
tagging the dash!

Title: Reflections of Memories
Fandoms: 盗墓笔记 - 南派三叔 | The Grave Robbers' Chronicles - Xu Lei, 盗墓笔记重启 | The Lost Tomb Reboot (TV)
Relationships: Gen (Iron Triangle + Liu Sang)
Summary:
Just about everyone has heard stories about the Iron Triangle. They’ve been together for at least twenty years, back before there was a giant hole in the sky and before the Inquisition was formed to try and fix it. In those days Wu Xie was a travelling historian who roamed the continent looking for rare stories to fill his ever present notebook or items of historical interest so that they don’t get lost to the passage of time or the ravages of war.
Waking up isn’t the gradual process that regular sleep is. It’s almost like the snap of a finger. One moment he’s asleep, and the next he’s awake.
“Jinx, if you don’t wake the fuck up soon I’m going to—”
Liu Sang throws out a hand and erects a barrier before he’s even fully finished processing the fact that there’s now a fight happening around him. Pangzi is shooting fireballs and jets of flame in every direction, standing a couple of feet in front of Liu Sang.
Protecting him.
Liu Sang scrambles to his feet, grabbing his staff along the way. They’re not in the chamber they’d been in when he’d fallen asleep. He’s not sure where he is, in fact. But what he is sure of is that they are currently being attacked by what sounds like giant spiders. The Emerald Graves are renowned for them and at least they’re easy to kill. The problem is they don’t seem to be stopping.
“What happened?” he yells as he throws up another barrier when the first one fades into nothingness.
“Tianzhen, of course,” Pangzi snarls as he puts a wall of flame between the barrier and the spiders. “I don’t know what he touched but he definitely touched something. I think he’s opened a nest of these things.”
Pangzi is swaying slightly on his feet, clearly reaching the point of exhaustion. How long has he been standing here keeping Liu Sang safe? And where are Wu Xie and Zhang Qiling.
Those are questions for later. He grabs a mana potion from his pack and hands it to Pangzi who swallows it down with a gulp. He seems steadier now, which is good.
“Where’s the nest,” Liu Sang asks. “I can help!”
“Up ahead,” Pangzi replies. “Tianzhen and Xiaoge are trying to find out a way to close it or do something.”
This is something Liu Sang can help with. His magic isn’t particularly useful when it comes to fighting but there are other things that it is good for and not just visiting the past in his dreams.
“Cover me,” he says to Pangzi and darts forward before Pangzi can argue with him. There’s a rancid smell of charred spider corpses, some of them still twitching as they burn. The few that are still alive make a beeline for him as soon as they spot him, but Pangzi quickly takes them down.
Up ahead he can make out the shapes of Wu Xie and Zhang Qiling through the haze of fire and smoke.
“Move!” He yells. There’s no time for pleasantries. He’s already gesturing with his hands, gathering stone, wood and any other natural debris scattering on the floor with his magic. When he has enough materials all it takes is a flick of his wrist to erect a blockade which effectively seals the opening.

So, ah, it's been a while; but this will be finishing it off, for this year.
THE ANTARCTIC: A Fangame? by @ringedretrospective I am genuinely curious if this IS a fangame OF something; and if so, what, because "penguins fighting against angels in the long day, and other penguins in the long night", sounds RAD AS HELL.
Core Competence by @rathayibacter I always like "pick a beneficial trait, and take the detrimental trait which comes along with it", and that's like the base concept of this whole thing. It'd benefit from some examples -- ideally a wide range of skills and their corresponding restrictions to choose from -- but that's what you get with a 200-word limit (and also "coming up with good examples of stuff" is hard work).
Dagobert et Saint-Eloi by @bossarmadimon It's things like this which make me glad I can read French at a functional level. I highly respect the mindset of "doing it because someone said it was impossible", plus the game itself seems like fun. I'm probably missing a LOT of the context, since my exposure to francophone culture consists of two non-sequential months spent in Quebec in the mid-late 00s.
Destiny: Keep Dusk by @notsomeoneyouknow I already liked this just from the title; I've a weakness for things that are just synonyms of what they're based on. I love the concept of picking a Summons by just getting a random wikipedia article. Everything else feels like it would be hilarious if I knew more about Fate Stay Night.
Earth, Sun and Rain Grow a Plant by @cornishpatsy I just really like the bit about how it works out to okay if there's two much of two different specific things, because it balances out.
Expert Professional Liars by @souridealist I appreciate something that starts with "here's a weird thing to use as a randomizer" and then continues to "what type of thing would most fit with the results pattern given by this".
from nothingness by @kalinary That's something I don't think I've seen before, where everyone gets randomly assigned a trait and THEN only one person gets to keep it, I'm assuming here that it's their "true" trait and not something they were just "acting as" in the moment, going by "best embodied". I always love coming across new shiny concepts.
I'm an English Major, Not a Scientist! by @coopbella This concept amuses me. Like, I always love "everyone is secretly an X pretending to be a Y, and they think everyone else is actually a Y", but "librarians on a submarine" is great.
Interlocked Fates by @thefaewriter I respect the idea of having a bunch of games all together, which are all linked. But more than that, I like all the "again" in the vampire one; you can TASTE the frustration and annoyance with those damn vampires, and I love it. The rest of the stuff seems pretty good too.
AN INTIMATE INTERPLAY OF SWORDSMANSHIP ATOP A SUNLIT PEAK by @seth-a-nahk I really like that dice mechanic here. That's… not much to say, but there's not much TO say; it's not like I write a poem extolling the virtues of baked goods every time I eat a cookie, even a really yummy cookie.
Naive Rules to Argumentative Fantastical Play by @meticulac From the notes about this, it seems really cool; I love the concept. From the text of the game itself, however, that… wasn't so clear. This is another of those games that would really benefit from some more words; this one in particular, I want to read a version of it done WITHOUT a word-count limit, because some ideas simply can't be compressed beyond a certain degree without losing what makes them worthwhile (compare the album art done for vinyl records, vs the album art done for things that will play online and it'll mostly be seen in thumbnail), and I don't know what its "full proper size" would be.
On God's Desk By End Of Days by @krawkpaladin There were a bunch of things posted on the last day of this event with the theme of "oh frick it's nigh the deadline and stuff still needs to get done" (for obvious reasons). This one though actually feels like its own game, prolly due to the setting/concept (which is cool).
Prototypes by @derpravener I do not care about mech stuff; I don't HATE it, I just don't find it intrinsically cool. That being said, I like this, with the different options it has available to choose from.
Quaint Seaside Town Stuck In A Time Loop by @believerindaydreams Gotta say, "changing up who you are and what your role is" WORKS for a "stuck in a time loop" situation, can't believe I'd never seen that before. (One thing I need to point out, though: d66 means "roll a d6 for the ones place, and a d6 for the tens place", and leads to a total of 36 possible results, not 66.)
Secret Agents of the 60s by @wrrdbrrd I can't articulate what exactly I like about this, but I like it.
Sneaky Snack by @blueberrybananasmoothie This is simply DELIGHTFUL, large smile on my face.
TANGERRITORIAL by @certified-llama-chauffeur I'm just impressed that someone managed to figure out a way to make a TANGERINE part of a game. And the whole thing seems pretty functional, which… isn't a given for this event, and ESPECIALLY isn't a given for weird gimmicky stuff.
!(Zombie Apocalypse) ? Proceed As Usual : CYOA by @that-house I fucking hate Choose Your Own Adventure stories, and I have ever since I was a child; it doesn't matter the quality, I just hate the whole genre or medium or whatever it counts as. Still, I have to respect someone who manages to a) write this and b) get it all within the wordcount.
So that's it for the stuff from this event; I've talked about all the ones I found interesting enough to talk about. If I've mentioned one of your games on here or on the previous thread, and you want further feedback on it, feel free to hit me up. If you have a game I didn't talk about here... I can still give you feedback if you wish, I just likely won't have much to say and/or a decent chunk of it would be criticism, but it's your choice.
Continuation from my previous thread (because it got long), of stuff from @200-word-rpgs that I find interesting.
THE CURSE: A Rabbit and Steel Fangame by @ringedretrospective I'm not sure I've even HEARD of "Rabbit and Steel" before, let alone know what it's like. But having "apologize for what you did last night", as the single sentence for the "day" phase, amuses me greatly.
Make Brown by @thee-rat-king I like colour stuff; I also appreciate how "should or shouldn't end up brown" is a 50% thing determined at the start of the game. And that's just SUCH a cool concept, how one player gets their colour combined with that of the other.
Paleolithic Fantasy by @cavetalesz I agree with the writer (whose url is PERFECTLY fitted for this game), we need more stuff set in this… setting. And also more FANTASY stuff in that setting; heck, if we're going from the thing we commonly see in fantasy of "magic has been fading from the world", then the earlier back we go, the more room there is for magic (and also it's not like there's any written documentation to contradict it). As to the game itself, I appreciate how the "stuff you find" table includes entries with relevant stats, and then at the end there's just "the antlered man", no detail given.
Elegy For A Better Yesterday by @notsomeoneyouknow I don't have enough familiarity with John Woo movies to properly appreciate this. But from the design notes, it seems like a lot of thought went into mechanics that properly match the theme.
Mires by @i-exist-for-spleen and manguypersondude I appreciate something that, as they put it, turns "how partial a GM is inevitably going to be" into a feature and not a bug. Also, something that started with a design requirement ("no dice math") and then built from there. And yeah, when you just stumble upon a theme or concept that ties everything neatly together, that is SUCH a good feeling; the spark of inspiration that lights up the tinder you've prepared from your own efforts.
You Know How This Story Ends by @indraklyr I just think it's cool; everyone has things that will happen, then those things get placed in an order, then you play out how the things happen.
You Sunk My Battleship! by @ineffable-gallimaufry Gotta respect something that finds a way to turn BATTLESHIP, of all things, into an RPG.

boy in silly sitting positions compilation
#cats#I especially like the last one where he just has one single paw poking out of that box for some reason lol#I still have costumes to post and like a billion other things.... grr... constantly failing at staying active on social media aughh#I think because currently my Main Focus is on trying to get my game done and stuff.. which basically just means sitting and writing all day#so there's not much to post about. Though I know the Good At Social Media thing to do would be to post about the#writing and share progress and talk about the game and characters or whatever to try to build interest or something but that is SOOO weird#to me.. I could maybe get it if it was like a tiny tiny discord groupchat of playtesters with like 5 people in#it.. But something about talking openly about things before they happen is weird to me?? Like presumptuous feeling or something#''oooo guess whats gonna happen LATER!!!'' like.. how do you know.. what if it doesnt. what if you dont finish it. what if its not the way#you think it's going to be. what if something changes. etc. Like I literally avoid movie trailers and game trailers for the same reason ghj#Even if it's not ME doing it it just feels... weird.. Maybe it has to do with my OCD and how I just don't like talking about ''future''#things in Certain Terms. Like if I was going to say ''Oh yeah sure. come over to my house in a few months''. I would have to follow it up#with like ''HOPEFULLY you can come over to my house in a few months'' or 'They'll come over in a few months MOST LIKELY''. Because just#stating that something will happen matter of factly takes for granted like.. what if somehting horrible happens and I DONT have a house#in a few months? or what if something bad happens to me. or to the person coming over? I can't ever DEFINITELY say with 100% certainty#that one could ACTUALLY come to my house in a few months. anything could change. So I have to allot for that in my phrasing. hbjjkn#There are a lot of situations where you're expected to just Assume Things but for some reason that bothers me. My brain literally does not#even Assume the most basic things.. like how do *I* know that just because it's someones birthday that they want to be wished a happy#birthday? what if they dont? everyone is different and has different preferences. I should check with them first. or wait until they public#ly announce that theyre accepting birthday wishes. I have to allot for all 5034859069 rare possibilities at any given time and never take#anything for certain. etc. ghjbjhbh.... ANYWAY.. I have been feeling a bit sick lately as usual.. but still slowly making progress on some#things. Moslty I need to edit costume photos. make sculptures. and work on the game. Going back reading some of the old writing from like#2018 and suprisingly I don't have to change that much of it? In fact I like it mostly. so that's good. I would be very interested if I were#playing the game myself. Though that doesnt mean much since my tastes are so niche lol..#Still really want to clear some of my million tumblr drafts as well... alas and aughh and ooughh and so on and so forth. Between all of my#evil appointments other such things...why cant I have one billion dollar to retire into relaxed hermit artist life of no stressors.. bleas
