Thinking about how the entire reason Zane went along with Wu was to try to find out more about his past. Thinkinggg about how he reached his true potential after finding his father's workshop. A big chunk of his character arc in s2 focused on how badly having no family left affected him. Then he found out how father was alive and he was sooo happy... and then his father died. And then Zane died too.

AFTG & scientific ideas/paradoxes i connect them with no elaboration

Originally this post was going to be all scientific laws & then I remembered the Irresistible Paradox & went down a paradox rabbit hole. I simply think about how 90% of scientif law/theory/paradox is deeply poetic.

Firstly, the Monsters (+Jean) all apply to: Hedgehog's Dilemma (despite goodwill, intimacy cannot occur without substantial mutual harm) and I mean that with my full chest.

Neil: Newton's First Law of Motion (an object in motion will stay in motion) Bhartrhari's Paradox (the idea that something can be unnameable conflicts with the notion that it is named by calling it unnameable)

Andrew: (OBVIOUSLY) The Irresistible Paradox (an unmovable object meets an unstoppable force)

Aaron: Newton's Third Law of Motion (when two objects interact, they apply forces of equal magnitude in opposite directions)

Nicky: The Catch-22 (having a need for something that can never be acquired on the basis of needing it)

Kevin: Hess' Law (the total change of a complete course of a chemical reaction is independent of the sequence of steps taken)

Jean: Hagen-Poiseuille's Law (liquid left in a vacuum will always rise)

Renee: The Law of Microscopic Reversibility (any chemical reaction can be undone if given enough energy & time)

Jeremy: Olber's Paradox (why is the night sky dark if there's infinite amounts of bright stars covering it?)

Wymack: Yule-Simpson Effect (a trend that appears in a group of data will disappear when similar groups are combined, and reverse trends will begin to appear)

something that's been sitting with me a lot is how the argument to let Predathos out - the one Liliana keeps repeating - is how *right* it feels to be in his presence. how *right* it feels to be here, on the moon, working towards his release, and how this must mean that he doesn't have ill will towards the people of the planet above. this must be good, she seems to say, because why else would I feel so complete? but all I can think is anything that makes you that sure, that's not something that can be trusted. that feeling is a drug, and it is dangerous. of course Predathos wants to make you feel like you're a part of something good and correct and right, because he needs your loyalty. he needs you willing to give yourselves over to him.

that's not freedom, that's another form of subjugation.

Two character dynamics (that cannot coexist) that I've been musing over the past few days:

Buffy and Jenny as reluctant character mirrors who are unable to make peace with each other, but Dawn thinks Jenny is cool much to Buffy's chagrin.

Buffy and Jenny airing their grievances as they recognise themselves in each other and reach a tentative peace for the sake of the group, but Dawn never forgives Jenny for upsetting her sister.
