And listen. LISTEN. For people who haven't been following this Our Flag Means Death-related alternate-reality-shenanigan fest, the following will make no sense to you-- or, wait, fuck it--

A Brief History of the Javid Denkins Alternate-Reality Game

(I didn't intend "overly long essays about in-depth fandom-related shenanigans" to be my brand, but by god I'm here now and I will make us all suffer through it.)

Reality (As We Know It)

Established and verified gay pirate showrunner David Jenkins is a regular shenanigineer on twitter: retweets fanart, retweets cosplays, calls fans sluts (endearment), has ongoing fight with medieval cats.

Back in 2022, David Jenkins implied heavily that he had joined tumblr, but did not cough up his account name.

This is the sum total of real and actual events and identities.

Through the Looking Glass

Fans started looking for David Jenkins's tumblr. What fans found is the tumblr of one Javid Denkins, who appeared to be new, had a variant of Jenkins's twitter icon, and seemed to be cheekily maintaining an incognito by steadfastly asserting that he is definitely not David Jenkins.

Fans got weird about it, because that is the nature of fandom. I said something about it here, because I have Feelings about the Rules of Incognito and also about Not Being Weird About People Who Make the Content We Like. I put it as a reblog to the post, as per regular tumblring, no response requested/required because babes, if I'm going to be perceived, I want it to be organic. (ahem... FOOTNOTE 1)

I kept a cursory eye on things, because it can be Really Lonely to be a famous person who just wants to have a regular online experience, and if that's what whoever was on the other end wanted, then that's what they should get to have imo. Unlike a regular tumblr that I might reply to directly or engage with on a same-level kinda way, I let them set the rules of engagement because unless/until they came clean, they would always be Schrodinger's Showrunner to me, and therefore subject to my internal Don't Be Creepy ruleset.

My second Javid reblog was pretty much what I would do to any other newbie tumblr person (as they professed to be): adding on to a gag by referencing the "color of the sky" meme and also a seagull, for OFMD-related reasons (which fit within the ruleset, because Javid was actively connecting himself with OFMD type things). And Javid reblogged it, so hey, I was winning at tumblr interactions, a thing that is normal to want and possible to achieve.

Time passed. Javid dropped (what will be revealed to be the first of many) photo manipulations. (FOOTNOTE 2)

On the same day, Javid posted what looked like an accidental smashkey. I reblogged with a seagull, because again, established rules of engagement and me winning at tumblr interactions. He reblogged himself, though, with what looked like another smashkey, but was actually a goddamn Caesar cipher-- and started using the tag #definitely not a game.

From there, Javid started up a stream of fairly fun puzzles. I didn't keep up with it fully, but since it looked like Javid wanted people to interact, I interacted (while trying to ensure that other people could keep having fun too). He also started subtly changing his icon, his tumblr header, etc., expanding the bounds of the puzzle space, as it were. (And if you want a complete rundown of the puzzle history and the associated answers, this twitter thread is enormous and thorough, thank you @eefaevie.)

The seagull made an appearance every once in a while; I threw together various season 2 bingo cards in response to these potential spoilers; I spent my time largely keeping back so I could eat popcorn and Not Be Creepy. But... but.

The thing was, Javid's method of posting (in a "heeeere fishy fishy fishy" manner) seemed, to me, to be the actions of someone trying to play with the audience and/or provide enrichment for the enclosure. So after some thought and, again, remembering the loneliness of being a Creative Person but trying to be mindful that this person was still incognito and could be the actual dude, I started using the seagull to reblog extra content, links, whathaveyou, with the tag #enrichment can go in BOTH enclosures-- with the idea that, if Javid wanted to look, he had the option to do so-- and if he did, he'd be rewarded with, again, no demands on him or his attention, but just: some content. Some enrichment. Some fun. A "picking up what you're putting down" kind of vibe from one person to another, both of whom are, at the very least, interested in communicating with an audience.

To be clear: For me, at the end of the day, it had to be a choice. I needed to provide room for Javid to choose to enter the magic circle of my additional game play-- but I also wasn't going to hold my breath about it. This was Javid's space, with intentions and purposes I had no way of knowing (nor should I)-- I was just, metaphorically, bringing another set of dice and maybe some graph paper with an extra room drawn on it that he could easily enter if he wanted, to play in a space intended to complement his. He was putting in a shitton of labor for what was essentially just a gift; I wanted to show appreciation for that labor, while putting in some of my own to gift back.

So when the first round of puzzles ended, and a new one began, I linked the answers to one of his anagram puzzles inside some seagull gifs-- but I figured, why not add something extra? I used his pigpen cipher to dare him to use a book code next. To even see the dare he'd have to want to decode the gifs-- and if he ultimately didn't want to engage, no skin off my nose. (That's why there's a border around the magic circle with clear entrances and exits.) Either way, I was having a nice time.

The next puzzle type was a stereogram. (Neat.) The puzzle after that, though? I get tagged and informed that Javid has, in fact, posted a motherfucking book code. (FOOTNOTE 3)

Enter the Thunder Parasocial Dome

This is the point where I first have to be pulled down from the curtains by rational people who have only my best interests at heart.

(Having a whole Thesis Statement about why I was engaging with Schrodinger's Showrunner is one thing. Having possible evidence that my engagement was, like, actually engaged with is quite another.)

By sweet and loving friends and family I was reminded that:

Other people are, in fact, allowed to be clever about things too.

That all sorts of pre-planning may have gone into all this, and that therefore the timing was a coincidence.

That there are a limited number of easily accessible ciphers out there, so the code type could also be a coincidence.

And that either way I still have my important Don't Be Creepy code of ethics.

So. I took a deep breath. Cool. I was totally and absolutely cool about this.

...And in a totally normal manner I proceeded to lay an elaborate trap.

AHAHAHA JUST JOKING what I mean is: I replied to the tagged post, acknowledging that the sphere of potential puzzling had now expanded beyond tumblr. I used Javid's own fake-link trick to link to a seagull laugh. And in the tags I threw in a lot of potential internet-related alternate reality stuff.

But also, crucially... some more ideas for Javid to use. (FOOTNOTE 4) If he wanted them. If he was actually looking.

Since I was now playing In Earnest, I spent some time putting together a youtube channel, an alternate tumblr, a neocities account -- a whole new field of play, if Javid wanted to engage there. I pulled out the dusty memories of a Yuletide fic I wrote several years ago that used similar shenanigans to tell an interactive fiction story about Monty Python. (Hilariously enough, my first RPF.) I continued to play with all these new and fascinating toys.

A Strange Ship on the Horizon

What with one thing and another three years pass, a Javid puzzle eventually lead to an AO3 account-- which to me definitively opened Schrodinger's box: maybe this was a member of the production playing with fire, more likely it was a clever fan whose brain is fucking fascinating, but it most definitely was not David Jenkins.

But. Javid was still in incognito. And I still don't know if I had been perceived.

I read the fic the Javid account is writing (which is still a work in progress and pretty great ngl)-- it's a fandom AU, where Ed and Stede are fans of a gay pirate romcom called Blow the Man Down, featuring Sam Bellamy and Olivier Levasseur. The showrunner is named Javid, who doesn't have social media but gets cornered into agreeing to join twitter (rather than our universe's tumblr). And Ed decides, on a lark, to start a fake twitter account, tag it #definitelynotjaviddenkins... and then freak out because a large contingent of fandom shows up on his metaphorical doorstep saying HELLO, JAVID.

As if this weren't enough: beyond the fic itself, suddenly a whole multimedia alternate universe suddenly appeared, with multiple twitter and AO3 accounts beyond just Stede and Ed, forming an entire fucking fandom, Goncharov-style, around Blow the Man Down. It was and continues to be fucking wild. It's also amazing. And the porn is surprisingly approachable. (BUT SEE AGAIN FOOTNOTE 1)

Grappling Hooks Breaching the Parasocial Divide

The thing is, though. The thing. That is.

I have officially reached Level 2 Curtain Clawing.

As I read the fic and the accompanying universe, I started to. Notice things.

References to soap (but... but surely that's normal. Many people talk about soap, not just amateur history enthusiasts like myself).

References to obscure scents (LABDANUM. Someone referenced labda-motherfucking-num. But surely. Surely it is not an entirely unheard of thing; I am not the first person to discover it or the fact that it gets combed from goats jesus christ the goat thing I forgot about that--)

References to the drilled coin from the wreck of Sam Bellamy's ship, which appeared as a random bit of possible future lore for Javid in this bit of enrichment (but I put in lots of possible lore! I had a whole thing going about figureheads! Bad luck to kill a seabird! I had a whole thing for a while where I thought maybe the digraph code Javid was hinting at was actually a Playfair cipher! I have been wrong many times before and added lots of random possible narratives. SO SURELY THE COIN IS A COINCIDENCE).

References to... okay not really references, and I've never articulated it quite like this (though this is definitely my vibe), but references to the idea of these puzzles and enrichment being a conversation in and of themselves, held at a remove and existing entirely in call (Javid) and response (the audience).

Finally... I started to notice that Stede decodes/interprets Ed-as-Javid's puzzles in a long twitter thread (like... like the one linked above) but also... sends back puzzles. Like, well, me.

"But STILL," I screech from the top of the curtain rail. "This could ALL BE COINCIDENCE," I yowl as friends and family try to bat me down with a broom. Even, by god, today's drop... which uses a password-protected url shortener. The exact same one I used in an earlier enrichment. But! It's not like there are a lot of those! Maybe this was just the first one that cropped up for Javid, just as it was the first that cropped up for me! (BUT THEN AGAIN, MAY I REFER YOU BACK TO FOOTNOTE 4)

The fic is at chapter 14. There are, if AO3 is to be believed, 7 more chapters to go, plus who knows how much additional extra-universe material. There is so. much. here.

...And so many more opportunities to climb all the curtains.

I'm inside a Schrodinger's box whose sides are entirely composed of parasocial uncertainty.

tl;dr. This is the most enriching fun I've had in months, and if the magic circle is going to widen to include me, then friend, I intend to BRING MY A-GAME.

It’s totally fine to have a lurker account, there are a lot out there, though they are less approachable and more likely to be ignored, blocked, not welcomed in group chats and Discord Servers.

Safety is very important in community and in play! A lot of members join these online kink communities to seek safety and community, to make friends and play partners, or even find a romantic partner- though that genuine friendship and connection has to be there first. These members are real humans with feelings and boundaries, and tickling is an intimate thing they want to indulge in with genuine people. Being safe includes meeting up with someone who you are comfortable with and trust. No one wants to be treated like a kink dispenser or just their role in play. Treating people like kink dispensers includes tickle talking immediately in the DMs, demanding more content, crossing boundaries for your own selfish needs, and using honorifics and names they never consented to- and this all means you are unable to understand consent and should not be playing with anyone.

You don’t want to SEEM more approachable, you NEED to be more approachable! It’s very easy for members to pick up someone’s true intentions. There are no shortcuts for making genuine connections and relationships. If you really want to be involved, you have to be involved!

Decorate your profile! Get rid of the default icon and header- those can earn an instant block. Add your own header, a profile picture, and a description! The description is the text under the icon and header; users usually put their (nick)name, age, gender, sexuality, roles, and links here as a little ‘about me.’

❗️Put your age on your page. This is super important when interacting in a kink community. Most users prefer a number age. Some users accept a birth year or “Adult.” Though that or nothing can get blocked.

Add a pinned post! Most users use the pinned post feature as their ‘about me.’ This is where you share a bit more about yourself, how you like to interact in the community, your boundaries, interests, and what you’re looking for!

❗️Please read people’s pinned posts! They are specifically written to be read and respected! Users are purposely putting themselves out there to make connections and relationships! Pinned posts also help you determine if you’re interested or compatible with a user!

Blog and reblog your interests! Your blog can just be a kink blog if you choose! Some members like to reblog their vanilla interests or memes they like! A lot of people enjoy tag reading too if you’d like to add extra comments in the tags! This can help people get to know you, and they may approach you with a similar interest to start a conversation with you! Just be yourself and those meant for you will gravitate towards you!

Be patient. This is not an overnight change. You will have to put effort and energy getting involved in the community and making connections. Both in-person and online communities are welcoming of new members, though can be hesitant at first as they have to see if you’re authentic and genuine. You can’t just attend one event and then dip out when it didn’t go your way. You have to keep going, getting involved, and people will notice your presence and get to know you little by little overtime. It takes time to build authentic, intimate relationships, and it’s totally worth the wait and energy spent. The reason we made friends in school was because we were seeing the same people daily; the same applies here- keep attending events, meeting people and getting involved.

Join a gathering or community Discord Server. Discord is great for getting to know people as all conversations are spectated on, you get to know more than one person at a time, and you can join in on audio and video calls! The tickle gathering Discord Servers are great as everyone is a verified adult, and all of them but NEST only welcome vetted members. This can help you get in touch with in-person players with play experience, and can help you get vetted in turn! Some Tumblr users have created their own community Discord Servers!

Attend local in-person kink events! You can use Fetlife to find local events, like munches and play parties! Some people have tickling as an interest, or as Clay and I have discovered in our local scene, people can develop that interest if you’re willing to talk about it~.

Attend a tickle gathering! These are play-party-like events where tickle kinksters come together to hang out, reunite with friends and partners, and play! Play is not guaranteed, though there are people who do pick-up play after some conversation!

Take inspiration from other blogs! Are there any blogs that you enjoy and gravitate towards? Take inspiration from their setup and how they run their blog! Something they’re doing makes them interesting and approachable to you!

Have play references; both good and bad. When playing with someone new, it’s safe to ask who they’ve played with in the past and how those sessions went. It’s also safe to talk to those past play partners before playing with them! Watching them play publicly at a play event is a safe practice too! When you’re new to play, you may not have references, and that’s okay! Be sure to only play with someone you’re comfortable with, and take things slow. Do not jump or rush into play or new activities; build up your knowledge and rapport.

How to add a custom link to this theme?

You can add as many custom links as you want through Tumblr pages, and the process is very simple, here’s how:

Go to customize page

Scroll down until you find ‘+Add a page’

Select “Link” from the dropdown menu (for custom links) and if you want to make a custom page (for example, ‘about’ page), just don’t change anything from the dropdown menu and leave the ‘Standard layout’

Add the URL, page title and page body text as you wish and save.

What's the difference between the Header Image and the Hero Image on the theme options?

It's totally a different thing! Hero Image is used as a big hero image section for your blog while the Header Image is set on your sidebar.

You can show/hide either of these things. For Hero Image especially, the height can be adjusted! The default height is 515px.

As for the Header Image on the sidebar, the ratio is 9:16 (landscape)

How to use the filtering posts using tag system?

It's easy. Just tag your posts on your dashboard as "spoiler", "spoilers" or "warning" (without quotation mark). Of course, you can customize your own custom tags.

The default comes with pre-defined tags such as "spoiler", "spoilers" or "warning" above. You can replace it with whatever tags you want. Just be careful with the formatting! Don't forget the quotation marks and commas.

Other than that, you can also customize the warning message with your own as well as the label of the button.

How to enable the social media button on the sidebar?

Go to your customize page.

Scroll down to the "Sidebar Social Media" dropdown and set it to "Show."

Further down, find the fields for Facebook URL, Twitter URL, Patreon URL, etc. Put in the URLs for the social media you want to display; leave them empty if you don't want to display certain ones (e.g., show only Twitter, leave the rest blank).

You're done!

How to show the featured blog account on the sidebar?

Scroll further down to locate the text field option for "Sidebar Featured Blog Accounts."

The default should be "wip," "staff," and "changes." You can replace these with the usernames you prefer, for example, "art," "fukuo," or "theme-hunter."

Please pay attention to the formatting. Don't forget to include quotation marks and commas if you want to add multiple blogs.

Just tag your post as a #long post and it would automatically add an expand button with the post being cut off.

1. how did you choose your url?

one of my favorite cicely mary barker flower fairies is the blackthorn fairy, i think she’s so pretty and she looks like me when i had my natural hair color

oh boy a while, since august, 2013. back in those days this was a total tumblr girl 1D 5sos zoella acacia brinley justgirlythings blog lolol then it was a soft grunge blog for a lonnnng time and then it sat relatively dormant for a couple years until I changed the url to blackthornfaery in june, 2018 and made it into what it is now. i don’t even think of this as those other blogs anymore because i got all but 100 of my followers after i made the switch 5 years after i originally made the blog lol BUT if you scroll back far enough you’ll get some mad 2014 nostalgia posts

4. do you have a queue tag?

no, i’m on mobile most of the time and it’s just so much easier to press and tap without opening up the post to edit sorryyyyy

5. why did you start your blog in the first place?

well originally i was just really into all those things i mentioned earlier but as far as changing it to blackthornfaery i just really liked how safe and cozy the whole cottagecore, gardencore, etc. aesthetics felt and even though i have always loved the stuff i post about now (like pride and prejudice and beatrix potter) i’d never really made them a part of my personality that i shared and i wanted to change that. then a few months after i changed the blog something really terrible and tragic happened to me and i needed a safe calm space even more than ever and seeing all these lovely little cottages and garden and picnic baskets is that for me

6. why did you choose your icon/pfp?

because i love anne of green gables, especially megan follows as anne

1. Why did you choose this url?

its sort of like a pun between yall dont know and the fact that, hopefully, sincerely, chanyeol does not in fact know that i run this blog lmao i changed to this after a long time of being bread-jinie and i wanted to rebrand. i will, however, do my best to never change URLs again because the masterlist switch over was a complete hassle

2. Any sideblogs? If you have them, name them and why you have them

i have a fic recs blog called @yeoldontknowiread. as to why i have it, i know it hasnt been updated in ages since ive been kind of on hiatus, but i think reading and sharing work on this platform is immensely important. i actually read quite a lot of fanfiction, and i try my best to share the things i read. im very very behind on recs at the moment cause i try my best to write something substantial for every recommendation i make. as a writer, i know exactly the kinds of thoughts and feedback on fics that make my heart soar so i try to put in the same energy to my recs. community is only fostered when there is reciprocation

3. How long have you been on Tumblr?

hmmm since april 2017. i actually had my 4 year anniversary this year and i did have plans for things but i got roped into real life things and couldnt celebrate the way i truly wanted to :(

4. Do you have a queue tag?

no but sometimes i think i should. i view tags as a library on top of my knee jerk response to things. most of my tags are just my initial thoughts or feelings at any given moment, so those take precedence over a specific queue tag

5. Why did you start your blog in the first place?

when i was getting into exo, i was reading fanfiction like crazy. i used to write fanfic quite a lot in other fandoms, but at that time i hadnt written anything in about 2.5 years. exo was the first re-introduction to that feeling of excitement and inspiration. after about 3 weeks of straight reading, i decided i wanted to write again. i wrote the prologue to hero in about two hours and tried logging into AO3 to post it. sadly i forgot all of my log in information because it had been years, and was getting frustrated. i really wanted to put it somewhere out of fear that id lose interest if i didnt do something with it, and everything id read had been on tumblr. so i made a tumblr just to put hero lmao i didnt have any mutuals. it was a blog with straight 0. i hadnt even created an account to interact with writers before that moment, i really thought id be a silent reader forever. but exo woke me back up and for that i am eternally grateful.

6. Why did you choose your icon?

the yours music video is...so stunning? like the colour theory throughout the whole thing is truly so inspiring and gorgeous. and this shot of chanyeol looking at the painting took my breath away, truly. tulips and the color of peach, like do you know how evocative that is? ugh

7. Why did you choose your header

my header was made by @jamaisjoons for my birthday this year because shes literally the most talented person when it comes to graphics. and this was so kind of her to do, i cried a lot

tbh i havent used tumblr that often, not since march i think. i used to use it many times a day, checking in on friends and stuff, but once i started focusing on my phd applications i was only here sporadically. i didnt make an announcement either, just let my blog run on queue so i wasnt totally gone. i think i was checking in twice a week or maybe once every two weeks to refill my queue and check mentions etc. but now that my interviews are done im trying to get back on here daily to reconnect

in what context? like, you need to reblog this or your wish wont come true? or like, please reblog this to spread the word/spread awareness, etc? in the case for the former, i scroll right by. in the case of the latter, if im around and see someone raising a go fund me or some major event is occurring and i find a post with good sources or charities i will reblog. mostly though, the full extent my activism isnt really on this blog. its my escape from reality. my activism is usually placed on other platforms.

1. Why did you choose your url? Finally, I can answer this with more confidence! See what a blog name change can do? Anyway, it’s obviously a pun, from the term conspiracy theorist; I’m not one for conspiracies, but I love pirates, and I also love the idea behind making your own anarchist community, so it’s that. “Theorizing” about pirate communities and how they could stand. I mean, that’s not what I actually do here, but it’s a reflection of my own thoughts.

2. Any side blogs? Most are inactive. I have a whump blog (enter at your own risk - I’m serious) @justsomewhump, a OUAT out of context blog @outofcontextonceuponatime, a Monkey Island-centered blog @you-fight-like-a-cow, and my old ouat sideblog @andheyfordavyjones, where I’ve mostly migrated from and never post.

3. How long have you been on Tumblr? I joined on late summer of 2014, though I started posting on a steady rhythm a few months after that.

5. Why did you start your blog in the first place? At the very beginning, it was to look around for OUAT meta, make silly OUAT memes and talk in length about Killian Jones’ costumes and stuff. It developed into me writing actually serious meta on the show, and slowly dipping my toes into GIF making.

6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp? I love Douxie, and I love Archie, and it’s a sweet moment between wizard and dragon-cat familiar and it’s a comforting hug. If you asked me last year when I put it on, if I’d thought I’d still have it now I doubt I would’ve said yes, but things still suck, I’m still in need of a hug so it’s comforting to look at! ... Heh.

7. Why did you choose your header? I love KnightRook. This moment where Killian holds his baby daughter and sings to her is the top Killian Jones moment for me (for feels alone the “Don’t you know, Emma? It’s you” scene is a tie), and even though OUAT is well over and my blog is mostly centered on Colin O’Donoghue stuff, and he has moved on from the show too, it’s just a BIG moment for me and I don’t currently have the heart to take it off my header. Plus I’m never creative with headers, and this has been very fitting since the time I put it on, so it’s an easy choice to stay at.

8. What’s your post with the most notes? By far this edit of Pantalaimon from the BBC His Dark Materials series. It’s got nearly twice the notes than any other post of mine, and I just find it funny how it just sticks out like that.

9. How many mutuals do you have? I... actually had to look on my “following” list to count them. It’s around 16, though there’s also a few that I’m a mutual with “in spirit”, as in, I can’t really follow their blogs because of the content they post, but in my heart we’re mutuals.

10. How many followers do you have? 1494. It’ll take a bit up and down until I reach 1.5k for sure, though!

11. How many people do you follow? 94. 26 are inactive or near-inactive, and 7 are my own sideblogs, so my dash is pretty quiet - as I want it.

12. How often do you use Tumblr each day? I’ve tried to limit my time on Tumblr. Deleting the app from my phone has definitely helped. I’d say I spend at most 2 hours in total every day, though most of the time less than an hour total.

But luckily it all stayed private and afaik no-one else actually realized how bad things had gotten between us, and I don’t wish to disclose any names and situations.

14. How do you feel about “you need to reblog this” posts? I don’t need to reblog anything. This is a place for fun and escape from harsh reality, not guilt-tripping and moral judgement. There’s enough of that in the harsh reality we come here to escape from.

i’m lurking on here randomly every day and i try to reblog as much content as i can! i usually post like one gifset a day but sometimes it’s more like 3 a week if i’m busy/not feeling inspired. but sometimes i’ll post like three in a day lol

not sure exactly what this means, but in terms of social impact stuff i think everyone interacts with important issues in their own way. i feel that it’s important to be informed on what’s going on in the world but it’s also important to get information from trusted sources and take real, meaningful action in a way that feels comfortable and appropriate for you. i also don’t think it’s anyone’s place to tell anyone else what to share on their own page. hopefully that makes sense lol.

yes they are fun and i love doing them! but sometimes i forget to do them because i’ll see them at work and just like, totally forget by the time i’m off.

1: Why did you choose your url?

it is actually my psn (or a rendition of it - psn is gungn-ir add me!) i also wanted something norse related without it being totally within the ac valhalla realm, and gungnir was free!

i was a bratty teenager when tumblr was at its absolute height so it was inevitable!!

the art from the ac valhalla song of glory comics is flawless and my icon is from the 3rd issue. the art inside is a bit questionable, but the covers do a wonderful job at capturing eivor’s look and feel.

cause some good ol’ basim side eye - i love the promo art too hahah

Damie (Dani x Jamie) Secret Santa

Hello everyone! So for a few years, I ran a Secret Santa gift exchange for the Holtzbert fandom, and it seemed to go pretty well! So I thought that this year it might be fun to do something similar for Damie, or Dani and Jamie from The Haunting of Bly Manor. 

I’m trying to kick this off as early as possible so that everyone has time to write/create gifts and we can get them posted by Christmas. If you don’t celebrate Christmas, please still participate! It doesn’t have to be holiday themed at all!

The general idea of this is that you will be assigned a giftee to write fic, make graphics or videos, or create artworks for! 

Let me know if there’s a discrepancy in the rules or if you see something amiss. If anyone is really good at graphics/editing and wants to attempt to make this blog look nicer with a banner/header/icon, please be my guest! @mutantcauliflower made our one for @holtzbertsecretsanta (go check it out, and also all the amazing works on there, if you are interested in that pairing!), and did a great job! 

How it Works:

Between now (Friday, November 6th) and Sunday (November 8th) fill out the form and send it on over via ask! (Or submit it if the asks are being too annoying.)

I’ll draw names on Monday the 9th to account for time zones and send you your Secret Santa! Don’t tell them who you are! You don’t want to ruin the surprise!

Between now and Christmas (December 25th), write fic, make graphics or videos, or create artworks for your person. (If you wanna do more than one, be my guest!) On Christmas day start posting your stuff or submit your works to this blog. (Don’t post before!) If you post on your own blog, tag this blog and I’ll reblog it on this page. Please make sure you put your person’s name on the post as well.

If you wanna send anon love to your person during this, go for it! Everyone could use a little extra holiday cheer! Just be sure that’s it’s on anon so you don’t reveal yourself too early. And if you want anon love, make sure your anonymous messages are turned on.

Rules:

Please please finish and gift your fic/graphic/drawing by Christmas day. If something goes wrong (because we all know that stuff does happen) please send me a message and I can message your person and let them know that it’ll be a little late. But let’s try not to let that happen. :D

Once you’re in, you’re in. If you drop out it’s going to be very hard to re-assign someone for your giftee. Again, I understand that things happen, but please be as committed as possible before you submit your form.

For fic, let’s try to set a 1k minimum. I understand if the story feels done before that, but let’s aim for that 1k so your person really has something to sink their teeth into, so to speak. ;)

Your gift doesn’t have to be holiday/winter themed, but that’s an option if you want to go that route.

Give your person a few prompts/ideas if you can, just in case there’s something they’re not comfortable writing. (For example, if you want to prompt something more NSFW, that’s fine, but give them another option in case they’re not comfortable writing that.)

Send me a quick message when you finish your gift just so I can have a general idea of how things are going. I know that some of us (me included) will be working right up to the deadline, and that’s totally fine. Just keep me posted if something isn’t working.
