genuinely enjoys mine's company, as uptight and neurotic it may be. because daigo was given the chairman position, a lot of people don't respect him other than mine so it's nice to hang out with someone who, despite being overly respectful, is kind to him. he feels a lot at ease with mine, able to be more himself n all that. it's not much but it means a lot to daigo

that said, he totally goes out in his casual clothes when able and is still very goth coded. Mine makes intense but silent notes about every little thing in those outfits and thinks it's very cute when there's little details like tiny skulls n things

likes to do go out spontaneously when he can and takes mine along. mine thinks something like that is way too dangerous for a chairman to be doing but daigo confides that he's not worried if mine is with him (with an ulterior motive to loosen the giant stick up mine's ass to get him to live a little). cue mine choking on his heart

I like the idea of daigo being oblivious to mine's obsessive behavior to an extent. he becomes so used to mine's quirks that he writes it off as oh he's just like that lol. but he's not wholly dumb to it. he'll be lowkey flirty and that's when mine's questions daigo's actions like "why is daigo smiling at me? is he sick? I should call an ambulance..."

genuinely has zero idea what type of things mine likes. tho daigo grew up in a bougie type of life and mine currently lives it, he can assume things like fine arts and fancy shit tho personally he removed himself from that sort of thing as he got older (to avoid being anything even close to his dad lol). comparatively, daigo lives more modestly so gift giving is up to guessing but mine accepts literally anything from him and frankly refuses to give him hints as not to place expectations accidentally

likes to spar with mine and was surprised to see that daigo was decently capable of protecting himself and finds his informal style of fighting very charming. he's seen daigo fight before, but it's a bit of a different intensity when it's just to two of them trying their hardest to impress

has a network of friends/allies like kiryu, kashiwagi, etc that mine keeps a closer than needed eye on. daigo does get frustrated that he has to explain he trusts these people wholly and it's often a point of contention between them

very much likes slow days when they can just chill with each other, however that may be. cuddling is prime even if mine gets mad hot and sweaty so daigo keeps a full body towel handy. it's not unusual for daigo to go out of his way to prod mine for reactions as it's the highlight of his day

definitely has a shrine dedicated to daigo. for funnies: has weird shit like used napkins, articles of hair, etc just funky stuff someone wildin' would keep. realistically I think he'd be a lil more modest - having photos and baubles, typical normie shrine shit

absolutely has a folder on his phone/computer of "selfies" with him and daigo. most of them are just regular photos you'd find in like newspapers, half of them are blurry as hell, and there's a few he's taken himself but poorly done because he did it under a table or something. and of course there's many photos of just daigo, doing all assortment of things from working hard to hardly working

he's caught by daigo occasionally but mine attributes his behavior to "trying to find better phone signal" as he aims it coincidentally at daigo's spikey heeled boots. even when they're together together, he still does this on the sly

insists on paying for everything whenever they're out but with enough convincing, he'll back down and internally melts when daigo tells him he's just happy to have his company. has a habit tho of "making up" for what he didn't pay for such as ordering lunches n things before daigo can refuse

obvs very violently protective of daigo tho avoids being so in front of him as much as possible. it's very common for someone who's spoken ill of daigo to get their ass beat or thrown into the Tokyo Bay some days later. has a network of people dedicated solely to routing out daigo haters

is often confided to by daigo about the stresses of running the clan and it takes a lot out of mine for him to not be cold and calculating with an answer. has had to learn sometimes people just want someone to listen

at first, mine thought such confiding was some limp dick shit but over time realized that daigo never wanted anything out of such confessions which is unexpected. to have someone be so trusting and vulnerable with him is incredibly valuable

would have "sounds of daigo talking about stuff" recorded and sleeps to it every night. be assured clips of daigo sneezing are in there too

“Aw, what’s up baby? See something you like that isn’t me?” He says cockily but with a playful tone, his shades shining against the sun.

You roll your eyes and elbow him softly with a snort; “Shut up, Johnny.” You smile at him. His eyes follow yours and they see how you’re staring at the big flag a few feet away, he raises his eyebrow but doesn’t question it.

“Say, I’m not that knowledgeable about pride flags, care to tell me a few?”

You snort, “I thought you said you were a ‘Pride Veteran’.”

Johnny laughs, “And I am! I just haven’t studied up on all the flags yet. I mean, I know the rainbow one and the bisexual one.”

“I’d be concerned you being a bisexual man and not knowing those.” You snort loudly.

Johnny bites his lip at your teasing and leans in to kiss your cheek, “So you gonna tell me a few other flags?”

You hum, thinking about the asexual flag but quickly shove it aside seeming as you’re not ready to open that can of worms yet. “…oh there’s the lesbian flag, it’s all pinkish and reddish!”

Johnny’s eyes light up, “Oh yeah? I think I saw that one being flown early I was wondering what it was!”

You chuckle as you continue to tell him about a few other flags, like the trans flag and the non binary one. It was fun seeing him so engaged in queer culture, his eyes light up like a Christmas tree when he sees you explaining them. An ice cream vendor with a little cart comes in to view suddenly and Johnny almost jumps at the sight, running to the man and dragging you with him.

“What flavors you got?” Johnny said a bit too excitedly at the vendor.

“Coconut, passion fruit-“ the vendor went on.

“PASSION FRUIT?!” You interrupt, your mouth watering. “Can I have passion fruit please?!”

Johnny looked at you an unmistakable warmth in his eyes and shook his head at your enthusiasm. “I’ll have the same as this nerd over here.” He elbows you playfully.

The vendor quickly got to scooping passion fruit ice cream in to 2 cups and handing them over to you both, you begin licking the soft serve immediately.

“How much is it?” Johnny takes out his wallet like it was an automatic thing, he always refused to let you pay no matter how much you insisted to him so you just let him eventually.

“6 bucks.” The vendor said with a smile.

Johnny laughed and shook his head, “Look man, I only have 100$ dollar bills on me— I don’t have change but take it. It’s fine-“

The vendor puts up his hands, “No sir, I can’t do that-“

Johnny grabs the man’s hand and places the 100$ dollar bill in his palm, “Take it. I have too many of these anyways. Give out the rest of the ice cream if you want to the rest of the pride parade. Say it’s a gift from Johnny Cage, okay?” Johnny smiles warmly and pulls you to walk with him while you both consumed the icy treat in the warm summer weather.

“Man, you didn’t even let him refuse-“ you laugh, warmth overtaking your cheeks at his philanthropic behavior he always exhibited.

Johnny licked the creamy ice cream down, giving you a look, “You know me honey, I’m stubborn.”

“Well- not just stubborn but caring.” You give him a kiss on the cheek.

Johnny blushes, “Oh zip it.”

“I love seeing you red, sorry!”

As you both finish your ice cream the pride parade seems to settle down a bit and so you both take a seat on a park bench, enjoying each others company. Johnny kept looking at you every few seconds, not hiding his infatuation with you. At the back of your head you were struggling with how to break the news to him with your asexuality. It ate at you every day and you can no longer take it, it scared you how he’d react even though he’s never given you a reason to. Always been keen to learn more and never judged people on sexuality or identity but still.

You take a deep breath and look at him shyly, playing with your hands as birds flew over you both and the sun toasted your skins. “I gotta tell you something…” you trail off, not really making eye contact with him.

Johnny spotted your jittery behavior and placed a muscly arm around your shoulders; “Please, don’t tell me you like pineapple on pizza.” He jokes, trying to make you laugh while you were clearly struggling to look at him.

You snort loudly, his joke working in making you lighten up a bit. “Remember how I told you how I’d tell you whenever I’d be ready for…more intimidate things? I’m not sure that’s gonna happen.”

Johnny nodded, his expression growing serious and his eyebrows furrowing with worry.

“…been thinking a while on this and I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m…” you continue and grow red, swallowing hard.

“It’s okay, honey. Tell me.” Johnny whispers in you ear, rubbing your shoulder tenderly.

“I’m- I’m asexual.” You blurt out, closing your eyes tightly.

Johnny stays quiet thinking deeply, going through word choices carefully in his head. But he didn’t seem at all bothered to which you let out a relieved sigh, he was filled with curiosity and a small grin on his face. “Okay, can you explain more to me, baby?”

You blush and lean your head on his shoulder lazily, sighing; “It’s when you experience little or no sexual attraction to others. That being said, it’s more of a spectrum ya know? Everyone is different. There’s asexuals who participate in sex despite not really having sexual attraction, and there’s others who’d rather not want to participate in sexual intercourse whatsoever.”

Johnny’s gears turn, trying to be careful with what he wants to say; “Oh okay. That’s cool!” He swallows deeply now, a shyness overcoming his expression; “…Do you still love me despite being asexual? Or how does it work?” The actor says with apprehension, “Sorry if it’s a stupid question-“

You hug him firmly and rub his back; “It’s not. Babe, me being asexual doesn’t negate the fact that I love you with my entire heart. There’s a difference between romantic and sexual attraction and trust me I’ve never not been romantically in love with you. Someone who lacks romantic attraction is aromantic. In fact, lots of asexuals like me seek romantic relationships.”

Johnny grows red, his nose nuzzling against your neck; “Oh that makes sense, duh!” He laughs and it’s gently dies down before he speaks again; “I love you so much, thank you for trusting me with this— I know it couldn’t be easy. But I never EVER would have denied you your own experience.” He now starts rubbing your back, not caring how public y’all were with affection.

There was a warmth that overtook you as soon as he said those words, a sense of peace; “Oh thank god- I- I was so scared to break it to you. I didn’t want to disappoint in any expectations-“

Johnny leaned back a bit and caressed your jaw with his warm hand, “Shhh, you’d never. How can I shame you for something that you are? Something you can’t help, honey? Whether you want to have sex or not any sex whatsoever that’s not the core of our relationship.”

You nod, a tear trickling down your cheek, “You’re too good for me.”

Johnny kisses your wet cheek softly; “No, quite the opposite. You’re so patient and kind to me, so willing to teach me about things when you don’t gotta do shit. The least I can do is be receptive and kind back.”

The afternoon was slowly seeping in to evening, the sky was no longer too sunny and darkness was beginning to cloud the skies. The pride festival had almost nearly died down and there was only a few people walking about.

“Can I ask you something though? Earlier, you were staring at this big purple, black and white flag…was that the asexual flag?” He quirks up an eyebrow with pure curiosity.

You chuckle, seeing how easily he always read you; “Yeah, it was, I was gonna tell ya but…I got stuck.”

“Honey, I saw it all over your face. You’ve been off all these days and now…well, we know why. Hopefully you feel better now yeah?” He rubs your back and pecks your nose.

“Completely…” you breathe out with a happy sigh, “It’s like I can breathe now.”

Johnny grins at you lovingly, his smile reaching his eyes. He then brings you up with him off the bench, “How about we head home, and we can over what you’re comfortable with and not? Maybe we’ll watch a film and snuggle up too, how’s that sound sugar?”

“Magical, just…magical.”

so just read your review of s5 and i definitely think that this season wasn’t lmk’s best and tbh the ending falls flat for me

i honestly think it’s the pacing and how everything is fixed with a bow too quickly and there’s not enough time to really process and delve into. which the specials help with, but we didn’t get one here and it just makes me go :/

there were a lot of good moments like you said (and i am latching onto them for my own safety bubble lmao) but omfg yeah when you mentioned the unexplained magic system i could not have nodded harder because HOW???? HOW DOES MK JUST KNOW THE SPELLS????? i can only suspend my belief for so much. i do trust them to explain eventually but how long do i gotta wait ;-;

sorry for the mini rant at the end. i just haven’t seen others also mention lmk’s issue with its magic system and yeah

first off, i love people using the smaller text to appear as if they're whispering. LOVE that. it's so cute.

second, that wasn't my full review. more of my initial thoughts. If I did a full review, it would be 10 pages long with sources and it would be peer reviewed and have footnotes and stuff. I still might do that. LMFAO

but s5 spoilers ahead, ofc.

but! yes. The pacing in LMK has always been quite fast! and that was less noticeable when the stakes were lower. but now that the world's always going to be in jeopardy, apparently, then. the pacing is really too fast for what they want to do.

We don't have time to delve into what the characters are feeling after each major event. Why are we JUST NOW learning about how Mei has the Samadhi Fire still and it's been inside her all along? During s4, there weren't any clues (that I saw) of her still having it, like no emerald swirls of fire, just electricity. So, the fandom, as a whole, thought she lost it, but noooo, it's been there all the time. Like, what??? That's a great way to make your audience feel stupid.

There's no -- like how did Red Son feel being locked in the scroll. What about everyone else. How are people feeling after Azure nearly destroyed the world. What about that aftermath? That part...that part that people largely think is filler is crucial to telling a story like this. We have to have moments where we sit with the characters and check in on them, see what they're thinking, how they're coping. We don't get that. We don't get enough of it. And it makes these characters feel flatter than they actually are.

They sneak in what they can in snippets and one-liners but that's not enough at this point. It's not enough when every season is going to be a world-ending catastrophe. We need to know these characters. And they've had 5 seasons to do it, and I still don't know critical things that I should know by now.

Also, worldbuilding? Can I get some, please? If the worldbuilding was good, we could go without a magic system! Think Lord of the Rings --- such WONDERFUL world building and history baked in, I don't have time to worry about the magic system. I've got so much information to go off of, I can suspend my disbelief because the world is so developed and magic can happen in a whimsical way.

But there isn't any...we travel around but WHERE ARE WE GOING?? How do-- can humans use magic? Can they see it? Have humans stumbled upon the celestial beasts ever? What bout the temples scattered about? NO one has? What if a human gets their hands on an artifact, what then? They fight in areas where humans are; is there no concern about being spotted? Sorry, but if anyone fucking saw a creature that looked ANYTHING LIKE Sun Wukong, he would be swarmed with pictures and selfies like.

And Nezha is just?? walking around??? WHAT??? I know in S3 they did this, too, but at least it was contained to those people on the train. this is a whole ass....city now.

I feel like people are just hearing me whine and complain about the magic system and they don't think it's a big deal. It's a HUGE DEAL. There is so much magic in this show!! There is so much magic that is just flung around by using seals and fancy circles. What do those circles mean??? Does everyone have their own special circle. Why does Macaque not have a circle, is it because he uses shadow magic?? Or chaos magic?? Why are they fucking with the magic now WHEN THEY HAVEN'T EVEN FULLY EXPLAINED WUKONG'S/MK'S MAGIC!!!!

Spoilers for the end of s5. But how. Does. MK. Know the spell. For Wukong's circlet. HOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOW DOES HE KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He saw Li Jing cast it maybe 3 times, but that's enough? How, MK? When did you study that magic? When did you learn how to use seals? When DID YOU LEARN HOW TO CLOUD SOMERSAULT??

How can I follow MK anymore when he's going places I can't pinpoint? I started off with him knowing nothing, now he picks up powers whenever he wants. If that's the case, just make him as strong as Wukong then!! Just do whatever. There's no power balance either. How strong is Macaque against MK? How strong is Mei against Macaque? I need a magic system or something so I can measure these values!!

They are never going to explain it to us. You can search through the series and look for clues, but that frustration is caused by the show not telling us crucial information. They want you to suspend your belief over and over and over again, but there comes a point of pure frustration where the audience is so disconnected from what's going on, because there's no rules. Characters can do whatever they want whenever they want.

Think about how that affects the plot. Think about how they came across these stones so easily. Think about how MK suddenly got the power to reach the top of that pagoda. Think about how they just so happen to stumble and find the White Lion and Azure Dragon like!! The plot is suffering! The characters have been suffering! And i'm suffering!!!

Anthony feels his hands shaking, trying his best to calm his anxiety down. It's the final award of the night, and his show is nominated. His show. His show that he poured his blood, sweat and tears. His show that saved him when he didn't know what to do with his channel. His show that was a stepping stone in fixing his and Ian’s relationship. His show.

As Mat stood on the stage, the curly-haired male felt a hand poke his arm. He looked to his left and saw Ian give him a reassuring smile. "Breath." He reminded him, grabbing one of his hands and gently holding it. "You can't accept an award if you're passed out."

Anthony laughed, shaking his head. "You're right." He said, quieting down when the nominees were being said. 

He felt an unbelievable sense of pride when his show was announced and the crowd cheered loud and clear. Maybe this year he'll win. Maybe this is his year. Those past three nominations were just stepping stools for this. This was it. 

The taller felt his body freeze when Mat revealed the tables had the answer hidden in them. He felt like he couldn't move, anxiety and adrenaline paralyzing him. He could see Ian stand up immediately, turning over his chair and searching underneath the table cloths. Ian was frantic, asking Ale and her partner to search on their seats as well. He turned to Anthony, adrenaline on his expression. 

The table shook their heads, confirming there was no paper on their table. Anthony's eyes looked around, trying to see if tables around him had the papers. He felt his heart quicken when he saw an E and a D. 

Maybe. 

Just maybe…

And then there it was. He looked to his right where a woman was walking to the theater, holding a piece of paper containing a singular letter. 

And that letter was a C. 

Anthony felt the adrenaline leave his body. He felt his body crash against the chair he was sitting on, exhaustion finally crashing on him. He lost. Again. For the fourth time, and now third time in a row. 

He could feel frustration tears well up in his eyes but he forced himself to stop. The dark-haired male took a deep breath and forced a smile, standing up and clapping when the show of the year award was announced. 

Feeling Ian's stare, he cheered for her at her speech and laughed with those around him. Then the final song came on, and he felt Ian quietly move to stand beside him. 

They stood beside each other, watching the dancing and singing around them. They stayed quiet, observing and processing the night they just had. So much had happened in so little time. 

Eventually it was over, and the after party began. Ale and her partner said their goodbyes, once again congratulating Anthony on his nominations and wishing them both a good-night. Both men wished them a quiet good-night, before turning to each other. 

Anthony knew Ian wanted to say so many things, but didn't know where to start. It was fine, he didn't know if he could manage to answer without tearing up either. 

They were interrupted by some influencer, probably a TikToker of some kind approaching them. "Oh my god! Smosh!" They exclaimed, a huge smile on their face. "Can I take a picture with you guys?"

Anthony nodded, plastering a smile on his face. Ian glanced at him and bit his lip, before turning to the kid and nodding. After a quick selfie together, the person grinned. "Thank you!" They said, before turning to Anthony. "I'm sorry you didn't get it. It's wild you've been nominated four times and haven't won- luck is not on your side!" 

The male gaped as the kid went along, stopping in front of Link and asking for a picture. Damn, that comment kind of hurt. 

Ian huffed and grabbed his best friend's hand, pulling him away from the center of the crowd. They went to a less populated corner, where a few people were talking. Ian stopped them and as soon as Anthony faced him, the shorter pulled him into a hug. 

Anthony froze, not knowing what to do. Ian rarely initiated hugs or any form of physical contact. It was unexpected, yet as the seconds went by, Anthony could feel his body melt against Ian's. And it was nice. 

The brunet ran his hand against the others back, trying his best to soothe the other. He knew how much that award meant to him. To be acknowledged and praised for something he created. He understood. 

Which made it hurt more when the absolute crushed expression slipped onto Anthony's face when the realization struck him. 

After a few minutes of the hug, Ian pulled back but only slightly. He gave the other the most proud smile he could. "That was wild, huh?" He asked, glancing at the theater beside them. "I never expected to present an award with you again." 

Anthony smiled softly. "Yeah." He chuckled. "We are so not getting invited next year. Eating the mask? Really?"

Ian shrugged, amusement on his face. They stayed quiet, enjoying each others company. The brunet grabbed the other's hands. "You know I'm proud of you, right?" He started, glaring at the other when he tried to interrupt. "Shut, let me finish. I know I didn't say this enough, but I'm so proud of how you evolved your channel and the content you created."

He stopped, glamcing to where Michelle stood with her award. "And I know the award meant so much to you, but listen." He looked back to the male. "An award doesn't represent your success or worth. You are amazing, and I'm so proud of you."

Anthony felt his eyes tear up, but from completely different reasons. He let out a watery laugh. "Since when did you learn how to process emotions?" 

Ian rolled his eyes. "I've been taking a crash course." He mantioned, smiling at Anthony's laugh. "Also, don't worry too much- there's always next year."

"Next year…" The taller started, giving the other a soft smile. "Next year it'll be us. We're definitely gonna get smosh nominated on something." 

The brunet chuckled. "We'll see." He said, looking at the crown partying and having a good time. He cringed, the thought of being pressed against so many bodies not calling him. He turned to Anthony, who was also cringing at the crowd. "Wanna get outta here and have a drink at my place?"

The male pulled a face. "Wouldn't we look rude for ditching? It's part of what we were asked for, after all."

Ian waved a hand. "Nah, we were asked to present an award and we did. We're done here."

Anthony thought for a moment, before shrugging. "You know what, fuck it- lets get outta here." 

Ian smiled and pulled Anthony to the doors, leaving the building. As soon as both men entered Ian's car, Anthony looked at Ian and smiled. "Hey Ian?"

"Yeah?" The brunet asked, turning the vehicle on. 

"Thank you."
