did you ever make a post about pete not liking tankhun ? i know you mentioned it a few times in your tags but i don't remember seeing a post. (i share your opin ions.)

I definitely toyed with the idea of meta or a gifset but I didn't ever make a full post! I love unrequited love and I ESPECIALLY love the extremely rare platonic version which Tankhun and Pete absolutely nail in my opinion!

There are loads of moments where Pete's smile drops around Tankhun very quickly, or he insults Tankhun behind his back. Instead of laughing things off like Arm and Pol, he almost has a wincing fear-response to Tankhun, which we don't really see at all from the other bodyguards.

I think that Tankhun likes to think of himself as being close friends with his bodyguards, and he does genuinely show a lot of open affection for Pete and eventually concern for his safety. But I think ultimately for Pete, Tankhun is just a part of Pete's job, and over time resentment has built up until he thinks of Tankhun as one of the *worst* parts of it. I definitely don't think he resents Tankhun enough to hurt or endanger him, but that's about as far as it goes, there's certainly very little love there.

Something about that dynamic is just particularly brilliant, especially when combined with Pete's eventual defection from Tankhun's side to Vegas'. He chooses a man who has beaten and tortured him over a man who showers him in affection and throws parties on his return.

I utterly adore Tankhun but I think as a character that's grown up in a gilded cage, he doesn't really understand that what Pete needs is a sense of his own autonomy rather than being dragged to "fun" "lets cheer up Pete" parties that Tankhun has demanded on his behalf. At least with Vegas he *chose* to go back, he handed Vegas the ropes, let him lock him back up again. Even before he develops feelings for Vegas, Pete has clearly felt like a subhuman pet for Tankhun and the main family for a long, long time and I think ironically Vegas acknowledging Pete's humanity is the tipping point for him.

I think even without their nascent romantic love as a factor, Pete would always choose Vegas. Because despite the threat of suffering, he offers a sense of freedom that Tankhun's gilded cage does not. It all makes for an incredibly interesting betrayal, and makes Pete choosing Vegas over Tankhun all the more pointed. By choosing to be Vegas' pet, he chooses to be human.

i cannot keep having this same conversation w/ my sister about housework and responsibility. everything is immediately assigned to me because my sister has shown time and time again that she doesn't want to do anything, or she does the bare minimum and leaves the more unpleasant tasks to me. so by default anytime somebody needs something, be it money, groceries, etc., i'm the first person people go to. then when i make it clear that i'm not going to be the errand boy, nothing gets done around the house, which causes even more problems. it's like living with a bunch of babies.

Whats wrong with ubuntu

well technically nothing, really. the company that owns it does have some telemetry going on (nothing as bad as windows or mac, though) and they've been pushing these things called "snap packages" on ubuntu which slows down your computer, but other than that, ubuntu is fine

(though, i did use it when i first switched to linux, and it randomly broke my entire computer during an update. i've never had that happen to me on another distro, even the more difficult ones, so. doesn't seem as stable as it's cracked up to be)

the joke with ubuntu among the hardcore linux users is that it's a beginner or "noob" distro, pretty much the opposite of arch where people think you're some kind of god if you can install it (these fucks don't even know about gentoo....) so you'll see people trolling on ubuntu users a lot. you don't see it as much with other newbie distros like mint because i think the hatred for ubuntu's company adds onto that mocking a lot of the time. ubtuntu is literally the butt of a joke and it's very funny

also in that post i made a joke about "put rm -rf /* in the terminal" because that's also an in-joke. some more trollish users who better understand their computer system will put that command into memes or jokes as a sort of lesson to not run random terminal commands from the internet. that command deletes your entire home folder and pretty much completely breaks your system. you might be able to boot into it again if you know what you're doing. but obviously most new users do not. so.

One reason im really hesitant about watching rwarb despite all the positive reviews is that in all the previews and snaps I've seen it looks like they're making alex out to be a complete himbo which I'm not comfortable with bc I feel like so much of what makes him a charismatic mc is his drive to prove he's the best and the way he'll do anything to get to the top and that's sort of why him fighting so hard to be with Henry resonates with me and I feel like making him out to be a comical idiot who talks with his mouth full and doesn't know the different levels of royalty sort of detracts from the real story that's being told in rwarb idk

Oh ya I’ve heard Türkiye is having some elections today, how’s that going? :D

it’s on sunday!!! ive spent the entirety of this morning crying over election coverage LOL. this is the single most important event of my life. yk how every politician says the next election is the most important one so everyone should go out n vote? thats the situation here but quite literally.

on one hand you have islamic extremists (erdoğan. one of the ��parties” that support him is literally formed from an extremist cult. the only reason they haven’t all been put on trial is bc erdoğan supports them and he’s only got the extremists’ support left. and also bc years back he declared a nationwide state of emergency and quickly passed multiple laws in succession where. he’s no longer the prime minister but “the sole leader” of turkey. yeah)

and on the opposition there’s a coalition of 6 parties, literally all the major left parties with some nationalists, with their joint candidate kılıçdaroğlu. CHP (the main opposition party) has been center left lately, but its the actual fuckin party that first turned turkey into a republic from a sultanate. its huge. compared to US politics the average left wing party is actually pretty fuckin left here LOL. and they havent won the govt since 1950s (last peaceful n prospering decades of turkey) AND. THEY ACTUALLY STAND A CHANCE. all the polls point towards kılıçdaroğlu winning the elections

and you have no idea how bad it’s been here for the last few years. god. there’s so many shit thats wrong in the country because of the current government. civillians getting arrested for tweets criticizing erdogan, not being able to afford anything, being unable to pay your rent, erdogan (WITH HIS SINGULAR DECISION) withdrawing from the istanbul convention, the femicides being the highest it has ever been since the entire history of the turkey, murdered religious minorities and murdered journalists, tens of thousands of people left alone to die after the earthquakes back in february. its pretty fucking scary living here unless you’re a cishet sunni muslim man.

everyone i know that can afford it has been fleeing the country. sometimes it feels like thats the only option you have unless you want to get killed as a 20 something year old trying to make ends meet. i’m only 20 yo myself and the past 8 years has brought me and everyone under 30 to such a place where the only thing we feel about the future is hopelessness. i feel like ive aged 10 years in the last year alone and i bet anyone thats lived under a similar govt can relate. my countrys politics alone has been robbing me of my youth and my will to live.

AND. DESPITE ALL OF THAT. i have hope for the very first time. i have hope for a better future now bc of the opposition candidate and i have faith in him to deliver his promises. everything thats happened since january he’s been dealing with with grace, and him + mayors from his party actually do shit.

so yeah. the entire course of turkey is gonna change this sunday. if we were to lose this would be the last democratic elections held (the last elections held, period) before erdoğan fully converted the country into an autocracy, and when kılıçdaroğlu wins its gonna become a socialist state, as socialist as it’s ever been since the 1950s. pretty fuckin big stakes

im going to bed in a minute bc i'm sleepy tired but i am trying 2 figure out books i want to read for the next little bit. i'm reading kingdom of sweets right now and taking a break from the ojibwa dance drum bc kingdom of sweets is a very seasonal book and i want to get it read before christmas, and then i'll try and get back to the ojibwa dance drum after that. i want to do ink blood sister scribe i think as one of my first books in january and then at some point in february/march i want to read belleweather but other than that... we'll see what botm does for its boty selections and go from there in terms of doing polls for what to read next
