Sorry blossoms im going to get sappy for a moment, but the way Dan and Phil have genuinely made such an impact for each and every one of us makes me so emotional ☹️.

They’ve made me less scared for the future just in showing that life doesn’t end in your 20s and that you CAN reach a level where you’re happy and open about who you are. As a considered younger phannie, who is still surrounded by those who wouldn’t like who i am, and who is just beginning to navigate the murky waters of uni and other life ugliness, that message means the world to me. Dan and Phil and the community on here are incredible. They’re a sense of hope for me and I could only imagine how others feel the same!! Like i just LOVE how we have our own little phannie community and how its become close-knit with dnp. Its so sacred and special to us all for different reasons.

For once i cant wait for what the future has to hold! This whole new era and the accepting of past selves just makes me particularly emotional too. So with the first show right around the corner, Ive been thinking about this and I thought your inbox would be the one to yap in 😭.

this is so lovely and i completely understand you!! it makes me so happy seeing other phannies saying stuff like this cause like, idk i just don't think i could ever emphasize how important and special dnp are and the impact they've had on us to people that don't know anything about them. it makes me think of that post about relating to dan howell when he was 22 and still doing so now bc it's like we've grown up with them and quite a few of us are younger than them and it's just so insane to think about how much they did and went though when they were so young but like you said, it gives me so much hope that things get better! there's always so much room for growth and things to change for the better even if that change is difficult and it's been such a privilege watching them blossom and grow into their true, most authentic selves. this community is so, so important and the way it's swelled post-hiatus, leading up to tit, etc is so exciting and i just hope we all stick around to support each other and just soak in the craziness of whatever they do next. our mutual relationship with them is so special, they truly understand us, and this tour is definitely going to prove that with how much they're emphasizing confronting the past, healing our inner child and moving into this new era together <3

Hi Kelli! How's your day going? Today's the first time in like 2 months that I really scrolled through tumblr. So I searched for my recent good find: your blog.

I stopped my scroll when I read your gracious acknowledgment of lurkers. Like what?! Some background. I was an active reader and sometimes writer in another Fandom where the topic of engagement, reblogs and the like, pops up regularly. And I get it, I really do, as why it's important for writers and readers to feel and foster a connection around the work that's posted. It's a nuanced topic for sure. But your post was the first time I saw a writer say, "it's okay, enjoy yourself" to readers who consume quietly. No guilt. No demands on what's acceptable engagement. It's like seeing a new color for the first time! I don't know how I found your blog because I've never seen a Pedro Pascal performance, but your writing and your writer friends' writing is so good, it doesn't matter. (Yes, binge watching his filmography and writing something is on my to-do list. Life keeps lifing. ) Your enthusiasm for fanfic leaps off the screen and you have a warm vibe in your posts that shines through. It makes me smile and that something I've lost in the other Fandom...the sense of connection and enjoyment without feeling I'm letting someone down or feeling let down. It's ironic that the idea of lurking in peace sparked this observation. The unexpected kindness in your post moved me. ❤️

I am so glad it resonated with you! I just feel like...we all do it, right? Either here, or over on Ao3...and if we don't do it, we have times in which we wish we could. No one is on all the time, no one feels like engaging all the time, yet everyone feels the pressure of interacting meaningfully with something they know someone took time out of their day to create. And they should! Especially in order to keep fandoms thriving! I'm not saying it's not important, and I'm not saying people should never do it, and I'm not saying you shouldn't ever take time out of your day to overcome any sort of hesitation you have with interaction in order to let someone know how much their work meant to you, since it's what keeps the community going.

BUT

We all have those nights in which all we want to do is binge read under the covers and whip through the chapters and become utterly consumed in a story. We all know that feeling, we all chase that feeling, we all have had an experience like that and I just think that that experience is so special, so amazing, so singularly life changing sometimes that I not only totally understand wanting to do that, but I wish it upon people.

Lurk, read, devour. Let it consume your daydreams. Lurk some more, reread it, scream about it with a friend. Let your day consume all your energy (because days DO) and then come here to lose yourself in another world. ❤ I lurked for years - I could never begrudge another lurker.

People use this platform in a million different ways for a million different reasons, and every single one of them is valid.

im so sorry that this took a little while to respond to. i’ve just been spending the last week or so really focusing on spending time with my dog, as well as surrounding myself with those who are my support system rather than being online 😭
