we're all animals, man. we all have an inalienable right to be here because the earth is everyone's home and the concept of the right to be anywhere is one of the most primitive social constructs. that's not to say it's not useful (if you're in my den eating my winter store of nuts and pissing in my nest i should hope you might fuck off if i scare you, i'm hungry) but most animals live short horrible lives they have limited agency over, and because they're animals people still harp on their connection to nature, which justifies their presence. (until it doesn't. see also: invasive species discourse, particularly re: that one cattail.)
nature is a social construct too! and at that it's one focused on resources — either their extraction or their hoarding by presumed enlightened stewards because of some belief in some pristine, untouched primeval worldstate that never in fact existed. at one extreme this framework leads to unchecked industry, at the other one to ecofascism.
in many countries people have good zoning laws and can walk, bike or bus places in the winter, eliminating the real reason people might start to hate driving in the snow, but it isn't just inconvenient and mildly annoying, it's actively a gamble for your life every time. you might be warm and listening to music if your car has fancy features, but many don't or they're broken, and people still commute to work feeling the same dread of death that the average small prey mammal does. many of those people don't actually have winter clothing. this isn't a pissing on the poor post it's an anti ecofash have-some-perspective post, bear with me.
you know how many types of guy evolved hibernation, which is literally just rotting in bed through most of winter, to try to make it so that they would probably not starve if they didn't brave all that?
we can't hibernate because we have money, landlords and no fundamental right to eat for free. some of us have to go long distances in a cold death trap device with no certainty of if we'll come back or be killed by surprise today.
no wonder people might start to hate snow because it sucks to drive in which could kill you, that's our equivalent to the feeling every animal has that has no choice but to go out foraging in it, exposed to predation and hypothermia.
it's loving snow, seeing it as just a fun whimsical thing to play in that you can warm up from in your well insulated, predator-proof, provisioned lair, that's been the privilege since the dawn of evolutionary time. whimsy is a privilege. many things in "nature" live in existential fear punctuated by moments of calm, which they often don't experience or don't feel as intensely when raised in the warm, safe environments we all made these posts from.
do some mushrooms and hang out with a garden rabbit, you'll see what i mean. the rabbit will tell you.

don't doomscroll, DO SOMETHING. Don't complain, TAKE ACTION. here are things you can do:
call your Congresspeople. If you are living in a Democratic district, this is so easy! Tell them how YOU want them to fight! Don't just sit back and complain that "Dems in congress aren't doing what I want." CALL THEM AND TELL THEM WHAT YOU WANT. EMAIL THEM. And be nice about it, lead with the illusion that you trust them to do the right thing. "I know you don't really want this to happen, you're a good person!" methodology.
If your reps are like mine and horrible horrible monsters like Byron Donalds, then you have to make your phone calls differently. You gotta strategize these. There are two ways to do this: 1) be incredibly angry and aggressive, but filibuster about it. Don't give them any ability to get off the phone. Don't curse or insult, just properly outraged. The key here is to WASTE THEIR TIME. I spend about 45 minutes on the phone with one of Rick Scott's people once. The other way, i think is more effective, but this is better than nothing. The other way, 2) is to frame the specific issue you're calling about from the most conservative angle possible. If you're calling to support Ukraine, cry about how your daddy fought in 'Nam to stomp out communism, now you want to let a KGB guy like Putin bring back the Soviet Union? Act super fucking scared of communism. Say the words "KGB" and Putin together over and over. Talk about how America doesn't roll over for Russia, not now, not ever. This is just an example of a particular issue, but it can apply to any. My mom calls it the "sandwich technique." Lead with a compliment, then say what you really mean, and end with a compliment. People get tricked into changing their minds.
I realize this is tumblr so if you are really really that phone-phobic, apply this to email. But really, this is worth making the call for. The call cannot be fully ignored. An email can.
Join the class action lawsuit against the government for Breach of Privacy if you have Social Security or Medicare, and tell people you know who do to join it.
get involved at the local level. Agitate at city council. hell, RUN for city council. I promise you that no matter how unqualified you think you are, less qualified people have run and won. There was a town that had a golden retriever as its mayor for a while. You have to start thinking locally. You have to start doing things ALL THE TIME, not just every 2-4 years. This isn't just voting, but making your voice heard. That tumblr post about ten people showing up at a council meeting being able to change thing significantly? True. "But I live in a red area!" yeah, so do I, and that makes it even more important, since they're doing shit like banning books in schools here.
Run for office!! I just said that, but seriously, run for office!! AOC was a bartender before she got where she is now!! If I were not completely disabled, I'd do it. If you don't feel like it's for you, think of the people in your life who are capable who might be persuaded!
Focus on the real enemy. It's Republicans. It's not Democrats. Like I said, if you're unhappy with the way your Democratic rep is doing things, TELL THEM. Sitting outside the party and criticizing accomplishes nothing, it only weakens our only opposition party in this country. If you want to talk about third parties, MAKE ONE THAT'S VIABLE. But realize that will probably be decades of work. Stop complaining and start doing, start reaching out to the people who at the moment have some ability to do things and influence THEM. You can say a lot of things on the internet and expect to change the world, but you won't. (Yes, I realize the ridiculousness of me posting this on the internet, but I will be doing things, too, not just shouting into this void)
#i fixed my major typo lol#but this is getting notes with it#THAT'S FINE I'M FINE#i have brain damage folks forgive the typos and be impressed instead? lol

With 9-1-1: Lone Star soon coming to an end, what’s one of the biggest things you’d say you learned about yourself while working on the series?
I’ve learned a lot about myself over the past 5 years working on this show. In many ways, I could say it was like another coming-of-age. So much has happened in the duration: I moved across the country from NYC to LA, endured the pandemic, the strikes all while working on it.
I’d say the biggest thing I learned is how to balance preparing and surrendering. In my crafting as an actor but also in life. I went to acting school and learned techniques for how to prepare for a performance and get myself ready to do what the scenes called for. And the process takes time. You need time with the script to not only learn the words but know what’s going on and what you need to do to get yourself in the space you need to live out the scene. In theatre, you have all this time to rehearse, but in TV, and in ACTION TV that is not the case.
Sometimes, the script was in revisions and you only got a couple pages to shoot your scene and your lines are different. Or you were going to rehearse the scene but the previous scene had a tech issue and we’re losing the location so we have to just jump into the emotional scene you thought you were doing the next day right now. Or you rehearsed the scene fine but when all the special effects are going, you’re trying to deliver this deep emotional scene hanging from a cable getting drenched in freezing water.
All these things that are out of my control would be happening but I’m still responsible for my performance. And I had to learn how to adapt my process to the production.
I learned how to prepare to let go.
On a separate note, what’s a practical skill you’d say you were surprised to learn while working on the series? Has playing a firefighter/paramedic come in handy in your personal life in any way?
I learned real fast that my little gym muscles wouldn’t cut it on this job. So I learned the importance of functional fitness and mobility work. But I can operate a fire extinguisher, and can don turnouts and an SCBA in less than 3 mins.
Luckily, I haven’t had to rescue anyone in real life since the show but I feel confident that I could help if something went down.
Without wanting to give away where Paul Strickland’s storyline might end in Lone Star, what do you (hypothetically) hope he’s up to, say, 10, 20 years down the line?
I hope that professionally, he’s still able to serve and help people and that he’s confident in his ability to lead. That he and Asha have a family of their own—Papa Paul has a nice ring to it and you can just tell he’d be a great dad. And you know, maybe they’d have a restaurant business on the side. Something that combines his two favorite things: cooking and books. He’s in Austin so it can be funky, you know. Yeah, he and Asha could have opened Austin’s first reading restaurant, it has gourmet food and a lending library.

I am ready to take the Red Pill and become a proud MAGA American citizen! Please, can you help?
Of course I can help you out bro! I'm pretty sure it's in my job description somewhere. I have the perfect new life for you. Just step into my office real quick. Here's your red pill, man. I have some water here if you need it too.
As the pill starts breaking down in your system, you can feel the changes take place. Your arm muscles expand outward, completely ripping the sleeves of your shirt. Your legs follow a similar pattern, completely ruining your pants. You've definitely spent a good amount of time at the gym. Your hair lightens to a nice blonde, while it gets a little longer for a typical douchebag look. While we're at it, let's give you some more testosterone and make your cock a little longer. 8 inches sound good?
Don't worry about your clothes, bro. I have some new ones for you. Let's get your basketball shorts on first. As impressive as your new package is, I don't really wanna see it bro. I got a red tank top for you as well. Let's just slide that over your head here... and perfect. It's fitting for a Red man like yourself. You've got the perfect alpha bro look right now. Don't want you to look like a weak libtard now do we? I thought so.
Let's get you to your new home now. You find yourself on a beautiful college campus, a fountain in the middle of a group of buildings. The football field isn't that far away either. You spend a lot of time there, bro. Between football and the gym, you barely have time for anything else. I don't know how you do it man. Balancing your junior year of your business major, hosting wicked parties at your fraternity with your bros, and going to the gym. Can't forget about football practice of course. Can't have the star quarterback missing out on that! Have you heard the rumors around campus saying that you might go pro? Even if that fails, you can always get an easy job at Daddy's business. A comfy office job where you get to boss people around sounds like a good deal to me.
Let the memories fill your brain bro. You were never a weak liberal. You're Mike Smith Jr., a proud conservative alpha bro. You were raised in the very image of your father, who owns one of the most successful consulting firms in this great nation. He made sure to raise you RIGHT, getting you into manly things like sports from a young age. He taught you to get what you want, and your commanding presence and alpha personality ensures you do so. Christ has a strong influence in your life, of course. You never fail to attend church every Sunday, taking the pastor's words to heart. Well, at least most of it.
Why would you ever want to be a weak ass liberal, spending all your time protesting Trump's policies and crying over deported criminals when you could be living life the RIGHT way? The Red Way. You know America is the greatest country on Earth and your life ahead is full of anything and everything you want.
Speaking of what you want, I think that chick over there is looking at you. She's pretty hot, right? I can see your boner in your shorts. Look at those breasts, bro. Just imagine how tight her pussy must be. If you're lucky, you might just get her pregnant and spread the Red even further to the next generation. Ain't no way you're letting her get an abortion! That goes against your values. Why don't you flex your muscles at her, show her what she could have? Oh, she's smiling at you... Now go get her, bro!

It started with a plane crash. A fiery wreck over Washington, the kind of tragedy that demands real leadership, real answers, real action. But what did we get? Donald J. Trump—our twice-impeached, four-times-indicted, spray-tanned emperor of grievance—pointing a greasy, ketchup-stained finger at “diversity.”
Never mind the grueling, years-long training required to become an air traffic controller. Never mind the chronic staffing shortages, the overworked employees grinding six days a week, and the outdated facilities running America’s airways into the ground. No, according to Trump, the real problem was that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had dared to hire people who weren’t white enough.
"This is just one reason why our Country WAS going to hell!!!" he screamed into the digital void, frothing at the mouth like a man who just discovered his Diet Coke button had been disabled. He ranted about “brilliant people” being replaced by “diversity hires,” as if air traffic control is some kind of woke art project instead of an actual life-or-death job.
And if that wasn’t enough, Trump took things further—because he always does. Like a vengeful god with a grudge against history itself, he unleashed a sweeping executive order banning the federal government from acknowledging that different kinds of people exist. Black History Month? Gone. Martin Luther King Jr. Day? Paused indefinitely. Juneteenth? Don’t even think about it. Holocaust Remembrance Day? Erased faster than a sticky note on Ivanka’s burner phone.
The message was clear: America’s government is now a safe space for people who want to pretend diversity never happened.
The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) dutifully fell in line, scrubbing its calendar of anything remotely inclusive. The Pentagon followed, declaring that "cultural awareness months" were now a thing of the past. The Office of Personnel Management sent out a grimly efficient memo ordering every department to purge “gender ideology” from public-facing websites by 5 p.m. sharp. No more pronouns in email signatures, no more employee resource groups, no more recognition of anyone who isn’t a straight, white, God-fearing man in a flag pin.
And just to hammer the point home, the Justice Department released a victory lap memo declaring DEI programs “shameful” and a “waste of taxpayer dollars.” Because apparently, nothing wastes money like hiring people who can actually do the job.
Even the CIA—an agency that relies on diversity for its literal survival—jumped on board. Former intelligence officials warned that strangling off diverse talent pipelines would cripple national security, depriving the U.S. of much-needed language skills and cultural knowledge. But who needs informed spies when you can have a monoculture of aging white men grumbling about the good old days?
All of this would be laughable if it weren’t so terrifying. This isn’t policy—it’s a tantrum. It’s Trump waging a personal culture war against reality, trying to bend the world back to a time when no one questioned his place at the top. He doesn’t want to govern; he wants revenge. Revenge against the ghost of Barack Obama, against the progress made under Biden, against the idea that America belongs to anyone other than the angry, paranoid voters who put him back in power.
And what about the people who actually keep the country running? The air traffic controllers working under brutal conditions? The intelligence officers risking their lives abroad? The civil servants trying to hold together a government that’s rotting from the inside? They get nothing. No support. No respect. Just a government-issued decree that their identities no longer exist.
Meanwhile, Trump is still expected to sign a proclamation for Black History Month—because nothing says deeply held values like banning an event on Monday and celebrating it on Tuesday. It’s a grift, a con, a flimsy cover for the fact that his only real goal is to make America feel like one of his golf courses: exclusive, overpriced, and entirely staffed by people he doesn’t have to think about.
This is the new reality. The federal government is no longer allowed to recognize the diversity of its own citizens. The air traffic controllers who keep our skies safe are being thrown under the bus in the name of racial resentment. And Trump, as always, is playing to the cheapest seats, hoping his base is too blinded by rage to notice that none of this actually makes their lives better.
America isn’t going to hell. But under Trump, it’s going somewhere worse: backward.

♡ Rayna Harth ♡
(everyone thank girlfailure for the art!)
(bit of a preamble to this profile because there are some things that will be remaining consistent with her and her darling no matter the scenario, her sister is a mage, with the way magic works in this world I decided when weaker mages awaken their magic they need to bind themselves to a knight with a strong constitution so the drain on their body is lessened, usually when this happen the two become lovers because people bound together find they can't go a certain distance from the other. The darling is an illegitimate daughter of the dukes family so no one stepped into bond until hours late leaving her sister terribly hurt in the first timeline. She was away training at the time but this time she made sure she was around when it happened and was the one to bond, lessening the damage to darling but when she grabbed on too tightly the magic burned her own face and body a little bit. The first timeline ended with her darling's death and she took her own life finding herself back weeks before the initial incident that ruined their lives. I will have her sister sometimes being aware of the original timeline but sometimes not remembering, whichever suits it better.)
♡ "My songbird is singing to people she shouldn't be, oh what should we do with them? Perhaps flay them? Not you of course baby, never you." ♡
She's a scheming, delusional, and slightly erratic yandere. In the first timeline she couldn't save you and so now she's doing everything she can in order to protect you after going back in time which of course means killing everyone who was a threat to you in the first timeline. Her memories of it are a bit shaky at times and she'll sometimes even remember moments that happened between you that didn't happen in either timeline or think a dream was real. She's very clever and will for the most part keep what she's plotting to herself but if she remembers something that made her particularly angry in the past or comes across someone she despises unprepared she is prone to fits of rage. Depending on how long it's been since she's seen her sister her mood will grow more sour until eventually she's screaming at everyone around her that they can't do anything right, her mood resetting the moment you're near her again. Her mood is never directed at you but if she catches you talkin to someone she views as having harmed you in the past timeline even if they're nice now, you might get to witness her outbursts.
♡ "I'm your Ray, how could you have forgotten my name? Did the burst affect my pretty girl more than I thought?" ♡
Her full name is Duke Rayna Harth and she is the duke of the country next to the main kingdom, they generally have a more neutral relationship sometimes verging on hostile. She lacks any loyalty to her main kingdom though and would sell them out in a heartbeat to keep her sister safer. In the original timeline she engaged herself to the princess of her own kingdom hearing a rumor the royal family knew how to break the bond between a mage and their knight and transfer the bond to someone else leading to her sister hating her more in the original because the princess tormented her for being illegitimate. Now in this timeline she is openly hostile to the princess because she's not needed anymore.
♡ "I'm 3- I mean 27. It took me too long to become duke, I'm sorry my love." ♡
She was 35 when the original timeline ended, she worked hard for years to try to break the bond you had with your original knight but never could find a solution and although she had taken over as duke a couple years after the initial incident the relationship between you only gained more misunderstandings until eventually your knight left, you got a high fever from not having your mana stabilized and you died. This time she challenged your mother immediately and gained the title, she refrained from killing her though and keeps her in the annex of the manor which you're not allowed to visit so she can know how your life in the annex was before Ray will eventually execute her.
♡ "My darling, I'm bonded to you, how could I want for anyone else?" ♡
Not just a lesbian, an extreme siscon.
♡ "I'm the duke, my pretty girl, unless you want to know what the duke does? Really it's nothing you need to worry your pretty head about, you just need to be resting. There are things I need to do to keep you safe you'd be better off not knowing." ♡
She considers it her primary job to track down everyone from the original timeline who hurt you or otherwise came between your relationship, spies, maids who weren't even hired for a few years, knights who knew they were going to get their shit wrecked when she took over and ran. She also passes intel to the kingdom in hopes of making your dukedom part of the kingdom so she can fight the other royal family since the princess hurt you in the past life.
♡ "I love you, my dear sister. I already know everything you like." ♡
In the first timeline and this current timeline you have always been her favorite thing and she's had no interests outside of you from the moment she first got to hold her dearest baby sister. She started sword training so she could become duke one day and studied hard so you wouldn't have to think very hard. She was aware your situation in the house wasn't the best but she hadn't been aware you would become a mage, she thought she had time to save you from your neglectful position when it suddenly worsened beyond repair. She also knew if she showed too much outward affection for you originally it could end with you being harmed for manipulating the rightful heir. Still no matter what you have been the only thing she loves.
♡ "I hate everyone who isn't you, that's why my songbird needs to stop looking at these fuckers, we don't need them." ♡
She's completely honest when she says that, even her most loyal advisors who were helping her in the past timeline will fall victim to her rage and anyone can be replaced except for you, there's people she hates more though like the princess and your previous fiance. In the original timeline she was better at hiding her hate, she needed these people around to try to find a way to switch who you were tied to but being tied to you in this timeline and having the knowledge she does from the original, she no longer feels a need to hide it.
♡ "Skills? Protecting my beloved sister from anything that could hurt you. Things besides that? Nothing matters if it's not for you, my silly silly girl." ♡
Excels at swordsmanship and plotting. She trained her spying skills in the first timeline trying to figure out how to break the bond between you and your knight since the royals weren't giving the information freely. Beyond that she makes a very good meat shield considering she's about 6'9 and very solid, when it's important to her she's very good at faking her feelings but this timeline she really doesn't feel like she has any reason to since you're safe and okay now and that was all she actually wanted. Will pretend to be less cruel if it will earn her your love though.
♡ "My flower, you deserve to rest, just let the servants do the only thing they're good for and take care of you. I'll come to bed with you shortly." ♡

ROBERT REICH
JAN 31
Friends,
The following is by Jean Chrétien, who served as prime minister of Canada from 1993 to 2003. It appeared in The Globe and Mail, Canada’s most widely read newspaper, on January 11, 2025.
Canadians will never give up the best country in the world to join the U.S.
Jean Chrétien
Today is my 91st birthday.
It’s an opportunity to celebrate with family and friends. To look back on the life I’ve had the privilege to lead. And to reflect on how much this country we all love so much has grown and changed over the course of the nine decades I’ve been on this Earth.
This year, I’ve also decided to give myself a birthday present. I’m going to do something in this article that I don’t do very often anymore, and sound off on a big issue affecting the state of the nation and profoundly bothering me and so many other Canadians: The totally unacceptable insults and unprecedented threats to our very sovereignty from U.S. president-elect Donald Trump.
I have two very clear and simple messages.
To Donald Trump, from one old guy to another: Give your head a shake! What could make you think that Canadians would ever give up the best country in the world — and make no mistake, that is what we are — to join the United States?
I can tell you Canadians prize our independence. We love our country. We have built something here that is the envy of the world — when it comes to compassion, understanding, tolerance and finding a way for people of different backgrounds and faiths to live together in harmony.
We’ve also built a strong social safety net — especially with public health care — that we are very proud of. It’s not perfect, but it’s based on the principle that the most vulnerable among us should be protected.
This may not be the “American Way” or “the Trump Way.” But it is the reality I have witnessed and lived my whole long life.
If you think that threatening and insulting us is going to win us over, you really don’t know a thing about us. You don’t know that when it came to fighting in two world wars for freedom, we signed up — both times — years before your country did. We fought and we sacrificed well beyond our numbers.
We also had the guts to say no to your country when it tried to drag us into a completely unjustified and destabilizing war in Iraq.
We built a nation across the most rugged, challenging geography imaginable. And we did it against the odds.
We may look easy-going. Mild-mannered. But make no mistake, we have spine and toughness.
And that leads me to my second message, to all our leaders, federal and provincial, as well as those who are aspiring to lead our country: Start showing that spine and toughness. That’s what Canadians want to see — what they need to see. It’s called leadership. You need to lead. Canadians are ready to follow.
I know the spirit is there. Ever since Mr. Trump’s attacks, every political party is speaking out in favour of Canada. In fact, it is to my great satisfaction that even the Bloc Québécois is defending Canada.
But you don’t win a hockey game by only playing defence. We all know that even when we satisfy one demand, Mr. Trump will come back with another, bigger demand. That’s not diplomacy; it’s blackmail.
We need another approach — one that will break this cycle.
Mr. Trump has accomplished one thing: He has unified Canadians more than we have been ever before! All leaders across our country have united in resolve to defend Canadian interests.
When I came into office as prime minister, Canada faced a national unity crisis. The threat of Quebec separation was very real. We took action to deal with this existential threat in a manner that made Canadians, including Quebeckers, stronger, more united and even prouder of Canadian values.
Now there is another existential threat. And we once again need to reduce our vulnerability. That is the challenge for this generation of political leaders.
And you won’t accomplish it by using the same old approaches. Just like we did 30 years ago, we need a Plan B for 2025.
Yes, telling the Americans we are their best friends and closest trading partner is good. So is lobbying hard in Washington and the state capitals, pointing out that tariffs will hurt the American economy too. So are retaliatory tariffs — when you are attacked, you have to defend yourself.
But we also have to play offence. Let’s tell Mr. Trump that we too have border issues with the United States. Canada has tough gun control legislation, but illegal guns are pouring in from the U.S. We need to tell him that we expect the United States to act to reduce the number of guns crossing into Canada.
We also want to protect the Arctic. But the United States refuses to recognize the Northwest Passage, insisting that it is an international waterway, even though it flows through the Canadian Arctic as Canadian waters. We need the United States to recognize the Northwest Passage as being Canadian waters.
We also need to reduce Canada’s vulnerability in the first place. We need to be stronger. There are more trade barriers between provinces than between Canada and the United States. Let’s launch a national project to get rid of those barriers! And let’s strengthen the ties that bind this vast nation together through projects such as real national energy grid.
We also have to understand that Mr. Trump isn’t just threatening us; he’s also targeting a growing list of other countries, as well as the European Union itself, and he is just getting started.
Canada should quickly convene a meeting of the leaders of Denmark, Panama, Mexico, as well as with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, to formulate a plan for fighting back these threats.
Every time that Mr. Trump opens his mouth, he creates new allies for all of us. So let’s get organized! To fight back against a big, powerful bully, you need strength in numbers.
The whole point is not to wait in dread for Donald Trump’s next blow. It’s to build a country and an international community that can withstand those blows.
Canadians know me. They know I am an optimist. That I am practical. And that I always speak my mind. I made my share of mistakes over a long career, but I never for a moment doubted the decency of my fellow Canadians — or of my political opponents.
The current and future generations of political leaders should remember they are not each other’s enemies — they are opponents. Nobody ever loved the cut-and-thrust of politics more than me, but I always understood that each of us was trying to make a positive contribution to make our community or country a better place.
That spirit is more important now than ever, as we address this new challenge. Our leaders should keep that in mind.
I am 91 today and blessed with good health. I am ready at the ramparts to help defend the independence of our country as I have done all my life.
Vive le Canada!

I will try to describe why its also crucial to help Minrathous but, YES, Veilguard just failed to show it.
There are two scenarios - Blighted Treviso where you visually see in all details the consequences: corpses, suffering ill people everywhere, red skies, blighted waters and plants in any places etc etc, very grim. But also Treviso doesn't really cut much of content and makes even new quests or alternative ones, only Lucanis' story suffers it.
Then Minrathous where they failed to show it equally visually bad - you see hanged up Dragons and their supporters (tho you cant even say if all those people actually helped Dragons by any means) which is also terrible picture but thats all. Non-saved Minrathous doesn’t have additional quests to free people from Venatori or you don’t see any other new scenes of people suffering from this regime, like they made you see Crows and others suffering from the Blight. They cut you out from Shadow Dragons and all their allies, Neve's quest is also limited more, Ashur is doomed (also strong political figure aka BLACK DIVINE), you don't help to get rid of corrupted templars etc
It makes sense that Minrathous handled it better to survive an attack and not to be blighted like Treviso, BUT POLITICALLY it suffers greatly, even worse than before. This game wiped out the biggest problems of this country, just "trust me bro, there are many slaves lol". Now it has literal fasc*sts in power, by all means. Its not just "corruption", Antiva is also a corrupted country after all (where Crows are the only military force which is ridiculous, also considering that canonically they also had slaves but again, the game made them like a fun mafia family)
When a war with gods ends, thats where new problem starts - Tevinter is gonna be one of the strongest countries left. Ferendel and Orlais were doomed, what you see in Treviso is probably what happened in most of places there. We all know what it is when such terrible power and nationalist cults take over a strong country, like in real life *coughs*. Plus their war with Qunari can even worsen the situation. Venatori are everywhere anyway (since Inquisition) so what's gonna happen if they get military and political power of Tevinter? I don't take DATV ending with archon Dorian seriously because he just can't fight it with so little power of slaughtered Shadow Dragons.
Many people save Treviso also because as if Minrathous doesn't deserve help, like bad magisters and all. But this country lives on slaves (who can be both kidnapped people from other lands or their own citizens who sold themselves out of desperation) so the question is... most of people like average mages, soporati and slaves are not innocents who deserve life, they don't deserve to be saved from Venatori who see them as a dirt and material for blood rituals? (Hello, Bellara, who cried about innocents of Treviso)
Sure, many things I say right now are my own thoughts based on experience from previous games and what I know of Tevinter in general, because Veilguard ACTUALLY doesnt make those problems equally bad as it had to - deadly plague or scary oppresive political regime of cultists.
It had to be up to a player to believe what they think is worse but narrative punishes Minrathous more (if you save it then watch horrors of Treviso but if you didnt it then lol whatever, dont worry about this place bc theres not much to do anymore).
That's very cool and dramatic but saying it to Shadow Dragon Rook was definetely more losing situation in this argument:
Mercar: Vishante kaffas, save your speech for others, I ran to save MY OWN CITY, YOU CRETIN
#da:tv#datv critical#dragon age#sorry for big text but it bothered me since forever#maybe im biased bc i was interested in Tevinter since listening to Fenris and then Dorian#and its lore is interesting#dragon age the veilguard#mystuff

craaazy that some of you are so determined he stays within the mould when the entire show is chronicling him breaking out of it
#it fills in when he takes the role of crown prince after erik's death#and slowly becomes more rough until it's entirely not in the lines anymore#like season 3's logo#young royals#yr s3 spoilers#spoilers#no one yell at me i'm tagging everything#young royals season 3 spoilers#as someone who has grown up working class w a monarchy that sucks the living daylights out of my country#and has caused so much systemic oppression and created the class system that only widens the wealth gap as time moves on#i'm really exhausted by having to explain that wille being a queer king isn't a progressive thing#and that yah this is a tv show but it presents you an opportunity to#rewire your thinking about real life situations and the actual class system#the people at the top are still oppressive even if they're gay#imperialism is still imperialism even if you let gay people go to war#go read red white and royal blue if you want your gay royal fantasy#this is literally a show about the class system#and how historical systems that are held up by institutions like the monarchy#are a bad thing#and can never be progressive#even if you rainbow wash it

@scrumbosim lol unfortunately for you, I am quite literally the LAST person you should have picked this fight with. A little about me, sweetheart: I am a disabled indigenous lesbian, and, quite literally yesterday morning, I had to go and get a CT scan on my fucking brain because I probably have MS. I live in america. I have health insurance. This test could genuinely be life saving for me. But, guess what, bitch? My insurance refused to pay for all of it and demanded I pay over 400 dollars out of pocket. This has been my life for almost a decade now. I am literally dying. I am in levels of pain you can't even conceive of literally every fucking day. I am poor as shit and constantly have to choose between medical procedures and fucking groceries. Don't you dare fucking step to me on this topic. Don't you DARE try and act like ANYONE, ESPECIALLY women, are foolish or brainwashed for fucking celebrating this shit. Anyway, personal anecdotes aside: Girl, supporting anyone who stands up to any corrupt power IS standing up. Yeah, this post absolutely struck a cord with me, because I care about people and realize that the real world exists outside of your weird chronically online opinions. Yeah, men are shitty and the patriarchy is to blame for the core of most issues in our society. There are so many incredible examples of exactly what you're talking about (the blake lively situation, for example), but once again: people cheering on the death of a cartoonishly evil man is not one of them. (You'd also think that 'kill all men' would include a fucking ceo who makes millions on the suffering of others, and maybe NOT the guy who took him down and gave hope to millions, but whatever) More than that, though, this one act sends a message to the entirety of the wealthy elite, and it fucking shows. They are scared right now. It's why they've been whipping their names off the internet, it's why they've been parading Luigi mangione in the streets, doing their best to vilify him. It's propoganda, and you're falling for it. The last fucking thing the 1% wants is class conscious and solidarity. You know, the thing you're so fucking against? And guess what: you're completely wrong when you try and claim that the shooting 'did nothing'- anthem reversed it's new policy (that they would refuse to pay for people's fucking ANESTESIA during fucking SURGERY) Almost IMMEDIATELY after the shooting. Insurance companies precious stocks PLUMMETED after the shooting. Yeah, the system absolutely is still alive and thriving. No single act can undo a system as huge and monstrous as the us medical system. But the answer to that is not going 'oh no, nothing can ever be fixed so I'm just going to sit in the corner and whine about how much I hate the people who are ACTUALLY getting shit done (for no real real reason other than you're an idiot, I guess)' it's to ACTUALLY stand up. I desperately need you to open a history book: how the fuck do you think we've gotten literally ANYTHING done in this country? The civil rights movement, the AIM movement, workers rights, gay rights, women's rights, etc etc etc! They were ALL accomplished by the exact kind of shit you're having your stupid little tantrum over. They want us divided. They want us to hate each other. You are fucking falling for it. Don't be fucking naive. And god damn, turn off your fucking phone and go outside.
RFs be like KAM!! And then be all over Luigi Mangione's dick. A scrote does one good thing and your "misandry" goes out the window. Fucking pathetic
📐
#lol i will be honest: you trying to pretend that you didn't write that anon was almost funny enough for me to forgive it.#almost

I really am so sad I don't like isat. The themeing was very good
#isat critical#like the ''we must be prepared for the destruction change will bring'' shit came back so hard at the end#specifically with loop context/destroying themself to become a star. to become loop#and the fact that when siffrin deviated from the script. finally changed the way he performed his play (act 5)#that's when it broke#and he had to ''destroy'' his friends to do it. In a way. When all he knew how to do was fight/snapped#and it's like. of COURSE loop is how siffrin was able to escape. Because escaping the loop meant siffrin had to save/love themself#value their own life and not just their friend's#to realize that they couldn't do it on their own. that they needed their friends to help them out of it. they needed support#that being loved was more than saying the right thing or doing the right quest#isat is so strong structurally/thematically/plot-wise and I personally despise it comedically/character/dialogue writing-wise#and the whole game is dialogue. like isat is the most conflicting experience I've had in a while#Where I hate actually reading the dialogue and I don't like the character writing but I love thinking about it's themes. like hello#that sucks i'd rather have it just be one or the other#*aaravos voice* you must live life in the grey#Like the king and siffrin foil is my beloved. And I absolutely adore how the King's story was ended.#But I dislike siffrin as a character and I also hate most of the game's execution#like every emotional beat is made anticlimactic by the lack of subtext and the constant repetition#(literally laughed out loud at ''my house my country my HOME!'' like we said the same thing 3 times babe. the whole game is like this)#isat has a huge case of ''we wanted conflict but didn't give characters any real flaws to be able to do it''#idk. Everyone repeated over and over that they don't touch siffrin because he's uncomfortable with it. Over and over.#And yet he's still like. ''It's because Isa finds you disgusting'' Huh. Idk if we did the work for Siffrin to come to that conclusion#Like literally Isa never does anything to even imply that. All he's ever done is sing Sif's praises. makes me feel crazy#Like ''oh he views everyone else as just a character!! a pawn!'' except no he doesn't. he barely did in act 5#and even in act 5 he's horrified at how he treated odile. like. we did not commit to that. I got sad lukewarm flowey#Do not even get me started on odile's ''I think it's so cute you trapped yourself in time and went crazy because you love us''. Girl#Like no we can. We can commit. Siffrin did bad things and going crazy was bad. Odile wasn't wrong to be upset.#Like why not 'That was terrible of you to say. But I won't leave you—you still love people who make mistakes- because what else is there?'#like we got so close with the worst loop being the permanent loop. Siffrin is still loved no matter what. But idk. Felt brushed off#oh isat...you strange being...

every so often i will see a post from a leftist on this website that is so egregiously ableist that i remember that like. oh yeah the userbase of leftists on this website is violently anti-disabled people and will jump at any chance to demonize any of us for any reason. i just forget that fact because i'm extremely dedicated to curating my space
i'm paraphrasing here but i saw a post that said, "every time i see an American [disabled person] mention being scared about the election because they're afraid of losing their benefits i have to laugh. anybody who wants blood-soaked money from the US government deserves to starve" which. like. goodness that's a lot to unpack. i think we should burn the whole suitcase instead !
#i inserted [disabled person] because they used a fucking slur instead and i didn't want that in my post#like i feel like there should be room for disabled people like me whose lives literally entirely depend on accessing said >#> extremely limited benefits in conversations about whether voting in this election makes you complicit in genocide#which like! i do understand. i do. it's nauseating to think about what this shit ass country is doing. it's horrific. i do not blame anyone#> for not wanting to be a part of that. *and* i am also terrified for my own life because i remember the first time trump won it suddenly >#> became IMPOSSIBLE for ANYONE to get on benefits. EVER. and so many disabled ppl i know went to renew benefits theyd had for decades >#> just to be denied. one of whom was a below-the-neck paraplegic. he died because he lost those benefits!!! because trump won#i really do understand why people dont feel right voting for harris. or why they don't vote at all. i truly do. but holy shit i am so scare#and yes! i am aware that people in palestine and gaza are suffering so much worse. and i wish i could change that#but every single person in power in the US is pro-israel and eagerly drinking the anti-palestine kool-aid. no matter who wins >#> things will not change in that part of the world. and it is infuriating. when the revolution comes this will change. but it hasnt.#the revolution will not save me as a physically disabled person. it will not save any of us. we do not matter to leftists. i am sorry but >#> this is the one thing i have learned after being in leftist spaces for over 10 years. and posts like the one i mentioned prove it#so i am very sorry. i really am. for being physically disabled. but i cannot survive another 4 years relying on my parents for everything#if trump wins i will be killing myself. this is a promise. i cannot do that again#i know it makes me a bad person to be afraid that harris will lose. but people on the left already think i'm a bad person for being disable#i want the genocide to stop. i absolutely do. i also want to survive. i am terrified that the US leftists will sacrifice disabled people#like me so they can feel good about being put in a real life trolley situation#again. im sorry. im so fucking sorry. i wish i was a better person. i wish i was able to give more. i know that if i was just a good#person i would be able to have a job and give to every palestinian gofundme on my dash. i would be able to do more than my daily clicks >#> and reaching out and calling representatives that don't care. if i was a good person i would be able to convince my parents that z*onism>#is deeply fucking racist. and that israel is wildly racist and killing palestinians for fun. if i was a good person i would be able to make#>them leftists too. im sorry. im sorry. im sorry im not good enough. im sorry that im scared. im so scared and it's not right for me to be#when so much worse is going on because of this countrys bloodlust. im sorry that im benefiting from being born here i dont want to be#im sorry for not having any other options. if i was a good person i know i would have them. im sorry. god im sorry im so fucking sorry

Me normally: Let people love what they love
Me, after a Test Match Special commentator expresses their belief that the new All Creatures Great and Small is somehow "better" than the 1978 version: This is pure insanity and TMS can no longer be trusted on anything, how can they even be trusted to know about cricket, do they have no TASTE
#Look it's fine that this show exists and people will watch it and like it and that's ok maybe it's just not for me#But that was like a statement purely designed to piss me off#There were lots of issues with the 1978 adaptation! I still vastly preferred the books any day!#And I actually initially had high hopes for the new one because they at least cast a Scot (albeit a Highlander not a Clydesider) as James#And the actors at least looked a little bit younger than Christopher Timothy and Robert Hardy#And thank god Helen actually sounds like she's a farmer's daughter and doesn't speak RP!#But from the half hour I've seen of it I've had to write off this new adaptation#For two major reasons#First of all there's Siegfried#Siegfried is one of the key central aspects of the vibe of the books and therefore key to any adaptation#Robert Hardy was too short and too old for the part but he lived and breathed the character#The twinkle in the eye bouncing off the walls and in and out of rooms followed by half a dozen dogs utterly full of life even when angry#But this new Siegfried is just sort of... Eeyore-esque; he comes into a room and you can see the flowers droop and the set turn grey#Siegfried was angry Siegfried was happy and the historical character he was based on was no stranger to melancholy#Since Donald Sinclair did commit suicide or rather self-euthanasia after Alf Wight and his own wife Audrey died#But this slow grumbly figure in the new adaptation is not Siegfried Farnon- the book character didn't grumble more often he exploded#And why did the adaptation give him a dead wife that's so weird? What could that possibly add to the source material?#And this brings me onto my second problem which is to do with women and age#Firstly I have no idea why they aged down Mrs Hall or at least made her look younger than a woman her age would have back then#But what really drove me mad was when Heriot goes out to see some old woman hill farmer in the episode I saw#And this woman is far too clean and young-looking and you can see that she's wearing 'natural' look make-up#And a perfect set of clothes that looked like they were straight out of the House of Bruar autumn collection catalogue#Say what you like about the 1978 adaptation but old women looked like old women regardless of whether or not they wore make-up#It may be that the better quality of television screens means that the 'natural look' shows up on screen more clearly than it would have#But natural look make-up was not really a thing in the 1930s and for old women Yorkshire hill farmers I doubt they'd have much on at all#They just don't seem to be capable of allowing people to look old and wrinkled and real or have bad teeth or unattractive clothes#And everything is far too tidy- everybody looks far too perfectly country and quaint#Anyway the moral of this story is of course that I always recommend reading the books because they're much better#than any tv adaptation; but if forced to choose at least the 1970s one felt real and yet didn't have to be grim either#Ok that's my rant over please do feel free to enjoy the show I just got annoyed because the opinion was expressed on TMS

everytime i look at how people compare the way russian citizens are treated in light of the russian invasion of ukraine and the way israeli people and jews are treated after oct 7th and it just.... you know, as a person who belongs to all of these cultures, it always feels extremely disingenuous to me and very untruthful
#just bc slavic xenophobia isnt as extreme and doesnt exist on the scale that antisemitism exists in doesnt like... make it okay#or justified. or means you get to dismiss it.#or that you get to pretend it hasnt been extremely ugly and in fact has existed long before the war!!!!#especially wrt people forgetting that russia's evil government is running an actual country where real human beings live in and suffer#and yes. they do. life is russia for the average person is uh. not good and hasnt been good for decades.#and no i dont think most of these people are any more pro ukranian than the antisemitic leftists are Really pro palestinian#and i think again people like to prop up their egoes by making themselves feel progressive and good. that much is similair.#i think they have just found a new and justified way to hate what they always hated but coated in progressive language#yeah the reaction to the rus-ukr war wasnt nearly as vile as to oct 7th. mostly bc nothing is as vile as the reaction to oct 7th.#yeah its not remotely the same kind of conflict. but that doesnt make it right? or okay? doesnt mean it didnt happen?

It's so hard to explain to my partner, the one who loves me the most, why I feel so much guilt for not abandoning all of the trappings of life in society (job, home, society, voting in elections etc) to become an anarchist living a life as independent from society as possible. This is my main OCD fixation and has been for about a decade, this is the thing I feel the most panic about in my lowest moments and where my mind spirals. I can use tumblr to trigger myself endlessly, if I'm in that place mentally, using the blogs of people who present themselves as living this way, untouched by the impurities of living life as most of us do, the way we interact with corporations and vote for imperfect politicians. Wouldn't it be wonderful to be apart from that, living surrounded by people so radical and pure, I tell myself, and then tell myself i would be immediately rejected.
In my healthiest moments I focus on living my life as it really is, in society as it exists today. The people around me who I sometimes agree with, sometimes disagree with: my colleagues, my family, my lgbtq social group (when I still had it), and above all, my friends, who I love and also disagree with on some things. Practicing healthy relationships without absolutism has been very important to me. (The period when this website was spreading the idea that in order to be a good and moral person you must immediately cut out people in your life the minute they do the tiniest thing wrong was very damaging to me.) Engaging in activism, and just ignoring the fact that tumblr anarchists would hate all of it for not being enough, has been maybe the most valuable thing of all.
So why can't I see that sometimes?
#brain stuff#ocd#if the first part sounds like some christian ideas then yes i was raised like that#but also that is how it feels from the way things are often presented on tumblr from the anarchist side#its not intentional im sure and a lot of it is my perception but i have also had some encounters irl with people#who dont seem able to explain their ideas and the practicalities behind them to people not currently in that world#without inadvertently being...honestly incredibly insulting! to people living like 99.9% of people in this country do#it does come across as a fallen world vs enlightened enclave situation...you know like the worst aspects of christianity.#anyway im not interested in talking about how people living an anarchist life are still actually touched by society/impure#like im sure they are but so are we all lets not play purity politics (lets be anti purity politics)#and also i know some people on here are misrepresenting their life- for the purposes of this lets say its about the ones who are for real
