Genuinely reprehensible just how much of a mainstream leftist opinion “Jews should just take any abuse and violence heaped upon their heads, and lying down and dying instead of defending themselves is the only moral option they have” has become.
Just say you don’t care how many dead Jews litter the streets of your ideal society and go, you monsters.

I think it's a shame that "Oedipus complex" refers to fucking your mom instead of the actual point of his story, fulfilling your destiny through your attempts to avoid it. It just so happens his destiny was to fuck his mom
#the problem is how many other mythical ancient stories about fucking your mom are out there yknow#obvs theres a few but how many are on that level of fame#cause i know they exist but i cant think of a single one by name#contrast to the amout of stories about the inevitability of fate. featuring a variety of destinies the character fulfilled by avoiding.#like it or not the momfucking was oedipus' most notable accomplishment

I kinda don't know how to feel about being away from Kyiv. Well, first of all, it made me realize how different life can be in other parts of Ukraine.
Me and the fam went on a vacation to Solotvyno, a town famous for salt lakes and salt mines. The hotel we're staying at is just 4 kms away from the Ukrainian border with Romania, a distance you can make in less than an hour!
There are no sirens here, not even when the air raid is announced all over the country. Cars and trucks (feeding my Transformers hyperfixation) are driving all night long! People don't flinch when something loud bangs, when motorcycles drive past, when our air raid notification app makes a signature "danger" sound.
Nowhere is safe but here you can forget war can reach you. I haven't slept in my bed so peacefully for months! The soft soft comfortable warm bed, instead of hiding in the cold subway station, praying it holds under the pressure.
It makes you not want to return to Kyiv for much longer. To hold on to this safety, or the illusion of safety, just not to hear any explosions ever again! Reminds you how deeply and naturally you need safety. I fucking hate russia and russians for taking this peaceful life away from me and from all the other people in Ukraine.
Also a nasty feeling to sleep in peace and comfort while my friends and family are hiding away from drones and missiles in Kyiv.
Btw reblogs are welcome! I'm not ashamed of my feelings and want to share how war makes you feel! I appreciate people spreading real experiences!

Hi Seanan. Sorry to dump this on you, but I'm really getting my knickers in a twist about this bread and ducks thing. It seems to be largely inaccurate in its Tumblr interpretation ("bread will KILL ALL BIRDS"). What was a call for moderation and a slightly better diet for our waterfowl seems to have been turned into a campaign to starve wild birds that have been dependent on human feeding for countless generations.
Multiple swan sanctuaries, for instance, have spoken out against this ill-advised campaign, with one even tracing it to a birdseed company who wanted to sell their product. Here's one:
As many of you know there has been a lot of debate about feeding swans and other waterfowl bread. We have always maintained that feeding them bread is fine, Today we received a this statement from The Queen’s Swan Marker, David Barber, MVO, endorsed by Professor Christopher Perrins of the Edward Grey Institute of Field Ornithology at Oxford University.
“There has been a great deal of press coverage in recent months regarding the ‘Ban the Bread’ campaign which is confusing many members of the public who like to feed swans. Supporters of the campaign claim that bread should not be fed to swans on the grounds that it is bad for them. This is not correct. Swans have been fed bread for many hundreds of years without causing any ill effects. While bread may not be the best dietary option for swans compared to their natural food such as river weed, it has become a very important source of energy for them, supplementing their natural diet and helping them to survive the cold winter months when vegetation is very scarce.
There is no good reason not to feed bread to swans, provided it is not mouldy. Most households have surplus bread and children have always enjoyed feeding swans with their parents. The ‘Ban the Bread’ campaign is already having a deleterious impact upon the swan population; I am receiving reports of underweight cygnets and adult birds, and a number of swans from large flocks have begun to wander into roads in search of food. This poses the further risk of swans being hit by vehicles. Malnutrition also increases their vulnerability to fatal diseases like avian-flu which has caused the deaths of many mute swans and other waterfowl in the past.
Furthermore, there have been statements made in the media claiming that feeding bread causes angel-wing in swans. Angel-wing is a condition where a cygnet develops a deformed wing. Professor Christopher Perrins, LVO, FRS of the Department of Zoology at Oxford University stated, ‘There is no evidence of a connection between feeding bread and angel-wing; at least some cygnets develop this condition without ever having seen any bread’.
I therefore encourage members of the public to continue feeding swans to help improve their chances of survival, especially through the winter.”
Oh, no, please get your knickers in a twist when it's a matter of animal safety! I thought the post I shared was strictly about ducks, who really do not need bread in their diets, and didn't consider the impact on swans and other semi-stationary waterfowl populations. Genuinely, thank you.
