gonna be honest I see anyone talking about this "my gender is more complicated than yours" shit as someone who genuinely cannot comprehend that other people that don't share certain traits with them can still in fact have rich interior lives. as an agender trans woman who uses she/her I've never had anyone say it to me who wasn't (usually unknowingly) transmisogynistic
see but im not talking about "rich interior lives" and the assumption that i am is exactly what im talking about. i am talking about the actual physical way that reality treats and percieves me in comparison to the way it treats and percieves you. saying my gender is "more complex" means to me that i am physically incapable of existing in a strictly binary world and that there is no thing i can pass as bc "binary man" and "binary woman" are both incorrect for me. and the Cisiety in question does not allow androgyny to exist - it is exclusively the timeframe people have to decide whether they think you are a cisman or a ciswoman, or a failure and a freak. i dont subscribe to that "binary privilege" shit, thats not how privilege works. but there are differences in the ways both you and i can navigate this strictly binary Cisiety!!! and those differences deserve to be named, imo
like. again. i dont have to comfort you about your own internal sense of gender before youll listen to me about my experiences in the real world as genderqueer. as a different sort of transsexual than you.
(and bc i Know what binary ppl love to say: i know not everyone is 'capable of passing'. what i am talking about specifically is the difference between being unable to pass as a cis woman or a cis man vs being unable to pass bc what i am does not exist AT ALL in a binary society, and both of those things are incorrect ans unattainable.)
(anyways if that language is too imperfect for you thats like fine but. its just confusing to me, i dont get why its hard to understand what we are talking about here. our experiences w our nonbinary genders are completely different! why do i have to discuss them like theyre the same?)
#do you consider yourself transfem first or agender first on an internal level?#do you feel like you are predominantly treated as a trans woman in your day to day? does that hurt the part of you that is agender?#< not trying to grill u or anything im genuinely curious#ive had similar convos w my transmasc and transfem nonbinary friends as well as like. my gnc binary trans friends#i am just curious bc. like i said 'binary' isnt a bad thing to be and frankly since u identify urself as agender ur not really the target a#dience here anyways?#the idea that theres no such thing as a binary trans person just#fundamentally misunderstands the extremely broad swathe of nonbinary experiences and treatments#my passing transmasc enby friends dont particularly feel touched by transphobia unless theyre clocked or unless our areas laws changed#but some DO feel like they r effected by exorsexism on a day to day by being assumed to be binary men and having the other parts of their i#entities erased#while others are completely comfortable being percieved as strictly men and moving through life strictly as men#which is sounds like. i would guess youd have a similar position since u exclusively use she/her?#like.. it sounds to me like your 'rich interior life' doesnt really have an outward effect on the way people percieve and treat you and the#way you react to it which is very different from my experience#binary doesnt mean your gender is 'simple' it just means that you are comfortable within a binary system even of you dont personally identi#y with it. and maybe this is a case of 'political identity vs personal identity'??#and all of this is FINE its just. literally every time i talk about my own unique positioning my transandrogyny or whatever gives me#people crawl out of the woodwork to tell me my experiences are not actually unique#do u see what my issue is? my own trans experiences are erased bc other people 'disagree' with . what. my perspective as an 'unaligned' enb#? when its like. literally none of us are gonna have the same needs or experiences as trans people#and if 'binary' works to show that you are fine and comfortable being percieved exclusively as a woman#and 'nonbinary' works to show i am not#i dont really see what the issue w using the word 'binary' is#like i said. its not a slur. its not a bad thing to be.#and tbh i think this insistence that 'unaligned' nonbinary ppls perspectives arent actually unique to binary or 'aligned' nonbinary ppls is#directly contributing to like. lateral bigotry coming from said 'unaligned' enbies. like if u put urself in my shoes for a second and u gre#up being constantly told you were either a cis invader who didnt actually have any trans experiences and that only people who want to 'full#transition' were REAL transsexuals then. youd be kinda jaded too right? and im sure you ARE kinda jaded lol.#anyways. sorry for rambling at you i dont have any more tags left lol

7 things that affect your vibration frequency from the point of view of metaphysical concepts.
In metaphysics and quantum physics, vibration refers to the energy inherent in all aspects of existence. Each entity, from particles to thoughts, emits its own frequency, contributing to the interconnected web of energy that surrounds us. These frequencies influence how we perceive and experience the world around us. Vibration in quantum physics means everything is energy. We are vibrant beings on certain frequencies. Every vibration is equivalent to a feeling, and in the world of "Vibrational," there are only two species of vibrations: positive and negative. Any feeling makes you broadcast a vibration that can be positive or negative.
1. Every thought emits a frequency to the universe, and this frequency returns to its origin. If you have negative thoughts all of this comes back to you. Take care of the quality of your thoughts and cultivate positive.
2. The people around you directly influence your vibration frequency. Surrounding yourself with happy and positive people elevates your vibration. Conversely, being around people who complain, gossip, and are pessimistic can lower your frequency and hinder the law of attraction.
3. Pay attention to the lyrics of the music you listen to, as they can influence your feelings and vibration frequency. Remember, you attract what you feel in your life.
4. Be mindful of the content you consume. Programs that focus on misfortunes can lower your vibration frequency. Opt for content that uplifts and inspires you.
5. A messy and dirty environment can affect your vibration frequency. Take the time to organize and clean your surroundings.
6. Be mindful of the words you speak. Avoid complaining and speaking negatively about others.
7. Cultivate a habit of gratitude by giving thanks for both the good and challenging experiences in your life. Gratitude opens the door to more positivity.
In this interconnected web of energy, our choices ripple through us and the universe.

thief of blood
a thief of blood is a character who is inherently tied to the progression and development of the narrative. as a mutualist student, they are changed by their aspect (blood) in a way that benefits both their personal growth and the overarching story. the thief's journey is shaped by the forces of established meaning, connections, and traditions, and as they navigate these concepts, they grow and evolve as a character. in turn, this growth directly contributes to the advancement of the plot and the ultimate conclusion of the narrative.
the narrative itself warps and bends to justify the thief's actions, regardless of their morality, as their personal journey is essential to the story's progression. this doesn't necessarily mean that the thief is always right, or always wrong, or always bad or good- they may make mistakes or act selfishly at times. however, their experiences and the lessons they learn from these actions are crucial to their development and, by extension, the development of the narrative.
in a gameist sense, as an active relocator, the thief of blood may literally steal the loyalty of others or break bonds to empower themselves, or do other crazy wack shit like being a motherfucking vampire, very literally stealing blood. they might start as an outsider to their group but gradually become the center of attention by manipulating the connections around them, and can use this ability for good or for ill, but either way skaia will bend over its own nuts to make sure that whatever the thief does it will advance the plot.
real-life individuals assigned the thief of blood classpect may have a strong desire for connection and belonging, but might seek it out in unhealthy or manipulative ways. they may be drawn to powerful symbols and traditions, using them to define their identity and purpose. as they navigate their relationships and the social dynamics around them, they will likely face challenges and make mistakes. however, it is through these experiences that they will grow and develop as a person. the key is to learn from these experiences and use them to become a better, more empathetic version of themselves.
ultimately, being a thief of blood means that one's personal journey is deeply intertwined with the broader narrative of their life. as they are shaped by the forces of blood - the connections, traditions, and meanings that surround them - they will grow and change in ways that propel their story forward. the challenge is to ensure that this growth is positive and balanced, and to use their experiences to become a stronger, more compassionate individual.
Dio Brando is a classic Thief of Blood for many, many reasons, especially in JJBA part 1. I think you could also make a compelling argument that Venom Snake is presented as a Thief of Blood.

Self-care habits
Self-care is essential for high school students to maintain their mental and emotional well-being amidst academic pressures, social challenges, and personal growth. Here are several self-care habits, practices, and techniques specifically tailored for high school students:
Establish a Routine: Create a daily schedule that includes time for studying, hobbies, relaxation, exercise, and sufficient sleep. A consistent routine helps in managing stress and maintaining a sense of control.
Prioritize Sleep: Ensure you get adequate sleep each night (around 8-9 hours) as it directly impacts mood, concentration, and overall well-being. Maintain a regular sleep schedule, even on weekends.
Mindfulness and Meditation: Practice mindfulness techniques or meditation to calm your mind and reduce stress. Apps like Headspace or Calm offer guided meditation sessions suitable for beginners.
Physical Exercise: Engage in regular physical activity or sports that you enjoy. Exercise not only improves physical health but also releases endorphins, boosting mood and reducing stress.
Healthy Nutrition: Eat a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Avoid excessive caffeine and sugary foods, as they can negatively impact energy levels and mood.
Limit Screen Time: Reduce the time spent on electronic devices and social media platforms. Constant exposure to screens can contribute to stress and anxiety. Take breaks and engage in offline activities.
Creative Outlets: Explore creative activities such as painting, writing, music, or crafts. These outlets offer a means of self-expression and can serve as stress-relieving hobbies.
Journaling: Maintain a journal to express thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Writing can be a therapeutic way to process emotions and gain clarity on various situations.
Set Boundaries: Learn to say no when you feel overwhelmed by commitments. Establish boundaries in relationships and commitments to prevent burnout.
Social Connections: Nurture positive relationships with friends and family. Spend time with people who support and uplift you. Surround yourself with a supportive community.
Relaxation Techniques: Practice deep breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation, or visualization techniques to reduce stress and promote relaxation.
Take Breaks: Break up study sessions with short breaks to prevent mental fatigue. Incorporate activities that refresh your mind, such as going for a walk or listening to music.
Seek Help When Needed: Don’t hesitate to seek help from a counselor, teacher, or trusted adult if you're feeling overwhelmed or experiencing persistent feelings of anxiety or sadness.
Self-Compassion: Be kind to yourself. Embrace mistakes as opportunities to learn and grow rather than being overly critical. Practice self-compassion and positive self-talk.
Engage in Nature: Spend time outdoors, whether it's a walk in the park, hiking, or simply enjoying natural surroundings. Nature has a calming effect and can reduce stress levels.
Remember, self-care is an ongoing practice. Experiment with different techniques to discover what works best for you. Consistently incorporating these habits into your routine can significantly contribute to maintaining a healthy and balanced life during your high school years.

5 Types of Surveys You Should Participate In—And Why It Matters
In today’s fast-paced world, businesses, organizations, and governments rely on accurate data to make decisions. One way they gather this valuable information is through surveys. You might have encountered many types of surveys online or in person, but did you know that your participation can significantly impact change? In this blog, we’ll explore five types of surveys, highlighting why they’re important and why you should consider participating.
1. Customer Satisfaction Surveys
Why They Matter:
Ever wondered why companies ask for your feedback after a purchase? Customer satisfaction surveys are a tool businesses use to gauge how well they meet customer expectations. The insights gained help companies improve their products, services, and overall customer experience.
Why You Should Participate:
Shape the future of products: By providing honest feedback, you influence how companies refine and develop their offerings.
Get better service: Your input helps businesses identify areas where they can improve, which could result in better services for you in the future.
Exclusive rewards: Many companies offer discounts or rewards for completing these surveys, making it a win-win situation for both you and the business.
2. Employee Engagement Surveys
Why They Matter:
Employee engagement surveys are conducted within organizations to understand how employees feel about their workplace. These surveys cover job satisfaction, management, work-life balance, and team dynamics.
Why You Should Participate:
Voice your opinion: If you’re employed, these surveys provide a safe platform to express your thoughts on management, company culture, and work conditions.
Improve your workplace: Honest feedback from employees can drive positive change, improve work environments, and increase job satisfaction for everyone.
Build better leadership: When management understands the concerns and suggestions of their teams, they can create policies and make decisions that support a more motivated and productive workforce.
3. Political Opinion Polls
Why They Matter:
Political opinion polls measure public sentiment about political issues, elections, or government performance. Polls like these inform political leaders, policymakers, and the media about public concerns and opinions.
Why You Should Participate:
Influence decision-making: Your voice adds to a collective view that could influence policy decisions and political discourse.
Shape the political landscape: Politicians and leaders often adjust their priorities based on what the public wants. Your input helps ensure that your concerns are addressed.
Understand trends: Participating in these surveys allows you to see where you stand in comparison to others and gain insight into broader societal trends.
4. Market Research Surveys
Why They Matter:
Market research surveys are used by companies to understand consumer behavior, preferences, and market trends. This research helps businesses decide what products to launch, how to price them, and how to market them.
Why You Should Participate:
Influence new products: Companies rely on feedback from people like you to decide what features to add or what products to create. Your opinion can directly affect future innovations.
Stay ahead of trends: By participating in market research, you often get a sneak peek at new products or services before they hit the market.
Get rewards: Many companies offer incentives such as cash, gift cards, or discounts for participating in market research surveys.
5. Health and Wellness Surveys
Why They Matter:
Health surveys are often conducted by government bodies, research organizations, or healthcare institutions to assess public health trends, study diseases, or improve healthcare services. These surveys play a critical role in shaping health policies and medical research.
Why You Should Participate:
Contribute to scientific research: Participating in health surveys can contribute to advancements in healthcare and medical research, potentially saving lives or improving the quality of care.
Raise awareness: Health surveys help identify trends in public health that may need attention, such as the rise of certain diseases or health conditions.
Improve healthcare services: Your participation allows healthcare providers to understand what patients need, leading to improved services, more targeted treatments, and better patient care.
Why Your Participation Matters:
By participating in surveys, you are helping companies, governments, and organizations make better decisions based on real data. Surveys allow decision-makers to better understand consumer and public needs, ultimately leading to improved products, services, policies, and societal well-being.
Here are three key reasons why you should participate in surveys:
Be heard: Surveys provide a platform where your opinion can directly impact the world around you.
Drive positive change: Whether it's about the workplace, healthcare, or politics, your input can lead to real, actionable change.
Gain benefits: In many cases, surveys come with rewards or incentives, allowing you to get something back in exchange for your time.
So the next time you come across a survey in your inbox or on a website, take a moment to consider participating. Your feedback matters more than you think!
Conclusion: From customer satisfaction surveys to political opinion polls, the surveys we take part in help shape our society. By sharing your thoughts and experiences, you contribute to a better future for everyone. Plus, it’s an easy way to ensure that your voice counts, while sometimes reaping personal rewards along the way!

I do think I’m better than other people (I’m kidding) because when it comes to basic truths about life I’m like some of you believe in an insane person world where you have zero practical resolution for systemic power imbalances and also contribute nothing to society and find this justified because you have a victim complex that other people feed into while also understanding nothing about individual communities and how modes of abuse or harm can flourish irregardless of how much you idealize pity or reject that community or members of that community’s position under capital but also how capital can directly influence said abuse taking place and normal people don’t look at marginalized abusers or poor character and make excuses for them to do whatever because their life sucks. Often at least in part of their own volition which leftist/queer communities explode if you try to tell them disenfranchised people can actively contribute to their own demise. It’s no accountability and all so or nothing and no I’m not talking about any one group disability experience as a whole this is the thinkzone

Note from Return Fire
It’s time again to confront the authoritarian turn brewing on the fringes of the climate movement, and here Klokkeblomst reminds us why. The essay’s subject – the academic Andreas Malm, who blows hot air about why pipelines should be blown up but also about the need for a new ‘War Communism’ of harsh State interventions in the face of the ecological (or, in his reductive terms, ‘climate’) crisis – can serve as an initial target, but we publish this contribution we received in the hope that it will also speak to the tendency that is latent in the current atmosphere of desperation, which we should expect to grow regardless of the influence of this particular figure. (While seeming less influential as yet in radical circles, Malm is wooed by certain establishment media in his native Sweden where he cuts the figure of the militant parading his support for Hamas and other authoritarian groups for a bourgeois audience; suggesting, as with his fellow academic – and fellow apologist for the atrocities of State communism – Slavoj Zizek, he seeks his main recognition in an arena that is not involved in the complicated dynamics of actually trying to effect revolutionary action.)
While in this case in favour of such actions (purely theoretically) if only they fit into his hierarchical schema, we can place Malm on the same spectrum as the UK academics Paul Gill, Zoe Marchment and Arlene Robinson of Univeristy College London’s ‘Department of Security and Crime Science’, who published a paper last year written to offer clear recommendations to the repressive organs of the State as to how to equate anarchist sabotages – legally and propagandistically – with terrorism: he is an enemy of our struggle. His vision insists on quantifiable movement growth as standard for an action’s effectiveness rather than chaotic flows of desire and affect which these sabotages often spring from, achieve, and unpredictably inspire; instead insisting on seeing their ‘results’ in a vacuum (following the well-trod elitist path of other eco-authoritarians Deep Green Resistance). As such he’s a good example of Leftist (and sometimes Left-anarchist) obsession with what the author of excellent third part of ‘After the Crest’ series – reproduced in a forthcoming chapter of volume 6 of Return Fire – calls ‘geometrical growth’, a logic of accumulation: in resistance like in capital.
Now like always, justification is never lacking for his politics of ‘emergency’ that would justify totalitarian State measures; once you’ve accepted the price of such intervention as justified and likely to achieve the results you want, in today’s world there’s no shortage of issues to tack this lust for iron-fisted measures on to. The logic of urgency, however, is a poor metric for the ecological struggles we need. The idea that we have only so many years, decades, or “chances” left only obscures the effects of the crisis that are already happening; just disproportionately to the poor, non-Western, non-human. Such clock-watchers base their forecasts on technocratic measures like CO2 particles that are determined on levels utterly out of our participation, leading us directly away from our own judgment and experience: for instance, in the ongoing struggles to defend land and simultaneously rejoin the life of what actually sustains us beyond the supermarket and internet, or against capitalist extraction projects; which such academics and (wannabe-)politicians haven’t been positively contributing to but now want to co-opt and lead, straight into the dust. And, as this reduces the successfulness of these resistances when we let this happen, it gives even more grounds to the authoritarians (Left or Right) who propose their more ‘radical’ solutions...
In Malm’s take, the anti-nuclear movement is ‘naïve’; yet his model rests on technologies that don’t even exist yet in forms that have shown results, and he ignores efforts like re-vitalisation of indigenous lifeways, restorative agro-ecology, commoning, etc. This isn’t surprising for the legacy he likes to see himself as representing: the Leftist project of seizing the reins of a global industrial order, the results of which he hypocritically decries; yet remains utterly attached to its world. This is far from an isolated symptom these days; it hits a nerve for the terrified citizens who buy his books. Furthermore, his strident defence of the State – and insistence on the primacy of its agency vis-a-vis the ecological crisis – comes at a time of a crisis of governance worldwide which anarchists would do well to push away from the State-form; but Malm offers the contenders for the outcome of this power vacuum a new legitimacy, an ‘eco-Marxist’ flavour serviceable for the same project of infinite technocratic accounting that the progressive (we don’t mean this in a positive light) parts of the capitalist system are already clamouring for. He ignores the actual fault-lines like borders – which, as a Statist, he can only favour – which have been and will be some of the first flash-points as ecological collapse gains speed. Each argument for totalitarian responses invigorates others; we can see for example how in Germany among the supporters of the most restrictive COVID-19 regulations was the federal leader of the Green Party, proposing the governance of the state of emergency as “the model” for “the configuration of climate change”, praising Chinese “management of the pandemic”...
While we disagree that the struggles Malm should support instead should be “non-violent (but not pacifist)” because we do not find it to be a useful conception or restriction, as we’ve made clear since our very first chapter, and we’re not sure exactly what “climate justice” would mean in this context, we find it important to extend the reach of this piece as much as possible; including, to the degree we can, to the youth and others recently becoming active in the fight for a dignified life and a flourishing ecology we could call home. Artwork was supplied by the author, with a couple of additions from us. We welcome feedback at [email protected] – also, to see the articles referenced by title throughout this text in [square brackets], consult chapters of the current volume of Return Fire (vol.6). Funny how you can’t imagine people caring about things you don’t like genocide, and the only explanation for people talking against the election is that they are psyops, and not because they are upset about how your president is helping a genocide. You stayed quiet about palestine, even though you don’t about other political issues and have been associated with zionists in the past. I’ve followed you for many years and was giving you the benefit of the doubt, but it seems like you’re blind to your own hypocrisy.
honey, you are entirely welcome to leave.
as i've stated multiple times, i'm in no way qualified to speak on palestine or israel or any of it. nothing i say contributes anything of value, especially not here.
the issues i do blog about and speak on i am well informed about with a solid understanding and ability to articulate my positions and perspective. in many cases, they're of personal experience directly, in my own life. yet this discernment is traitorous somehow, okay.
there is too much at stake for me to condone approaching the election as a single-issue matter. there's just too damn much and i'm not willing to write off preserving what we have and making what progress we can just because we can't make all of the progress yet.
wish you the best, dear, go live your life.
#call and response#Anonymous#i am so tired of all of this shit i really am#not one of the people who has decided i am an evil genocide supporter for#*checks notes* keeping my mouth shut on shit i'm not qualified to speak on with confidence#has ever once even tried talking to me one on one; as a person; in good faith with their own name to stand behind them#you don't actually care what i think or believe or support or don't#you're just outraged i'm not declaring it for all and sundry to pass a moral litmus test

Two books on the pathological optimism of mainstream American discourse.
Ehrenreich begins with her experience with breast cancer and the ubiquitous infantilizing teddy bears. One breast cancer foundation distributed gift totes that included rhinestone bracelets and a pink journal with a box of crayons. “Certainly men diagnosed with prostate cancer do not receive gifts of Matchbox cars.”
Bright-sided: How Positive Thinking is Undermining America by Barbara Ehrenreich (2009)
A sharp-witted knockdown of America's love affair with positive thinking and an urgent call for a new commitment to realism.
Americans are a "positive" people -- cheerful, optimistic, and upbeat: This is our reputation as well as our self-image. But more than a temperament, being positive is the key to getting success and prosperity. Or so we are told. In this utterly original debunking, Barbara Ehrenreich confronts the false promises of positive thinking and shows its reach into every corner of American life, from Evangelical megachurches to the medical establishment, and, worst of all, to the business community, where the refusal to consider negative outcomes--like mortgage defaults--contributed directly to the current economic disaster. With the myth-busting powers for which she is acclaimed, Ehrenreich exposes the downside of positive thinking: personal self-blame and national denial. This is Ehrenreich at her provocative best--poking holes in conventional wisdom and faux science and ending with a call for existential clarity and courage.
This reminder of how horribly wrong the economists were in the lead up to the 2008 mortgage/financial crisis from Ehrenreich.
Professional optimists dominated the world of economic commentary, with James Glassman, for example, a coauthor of the 1999 book Dow 36,000: The New Strategy for Profiting from the Coming Rise in the Stock Market, winning a job as a Washington Post columnist and showing up as a frequent news show guest. Escalating housing prices were pumping up the entire economy by encouraging people to use their homes “like ATMs,” as the commentators always put it -- taking out home equity loans to finance surging consumption -- and housing prices were believed to be permanently resistant to gravity.
David Lereah, the chief economist of the National Association of Realtors, published a book in 2006 entitled Why the Real Estate Boom Will Not Bust and How You Can Profit From It and became “the most widely cited housing expert” at peak of housing bubble.
And how self-help culture nestles into Christian frames
As sociologist Micki McGee writes of the positive-thinking self-help literature, using language that harks back to its religious antecedents, “continuous and never-ending work on the self is offered not only as a road to success but also to a kind of secular salvation.” The self becomes an antagonist with which one wrestles endlessly, the Calvinist attacking it for sinful inclinations, the positive thinker for “negativity.”
Never Saw It Coming: Cultural Challenges to Envisioning the Worst by Karen A. Cerulo (2006)
People—especially Americans—are by and large optimists. They’re much better at imagining best-case scenarios (I could win the lottery!) than worst-case scenarios (A hurricane could destroy my neighborhood!). This is true not just of their approach to imagining the future, but of their memories as well: people are better able to describe the best moments of their lives than they are the worst. Though there are psychological reasons for this phenomenon, Karen A.Cerulo, in Never Saw It Coming, considers instead the role of society in fostering this attitude. What kinds of communities develop this pattern of thought, which do not, and what does that say about human ability to evaluate possible outcomes of decisions and events? Cerulo takes readers to diverse realms of experience, including intimate family relationships, key transitions in our lives, the places we work and play, and the boardrooms of organizations and bureaucracies. Using interviews, surveys, artistic and fictional accounts, media reports, historical data, and official records, she illuminates one of the most common, yet least studied, of human traits—a blatant disregard for worst-case scenarios. Never Saw It Coming, therefore, will be crucial to anyone who wants to understand human attempts to picture or plan the future.

Tuesday with Morrie a book filled with undiscovered treasures
As we grow older, we often find ourselves grappling with the profound question of life's true meaning. With age comes the inevitable contemplation of our very purpose of existence. We begin to ponder whether we are genuinely leading a meaningful life. In this quest for answers, we may stumble upon the realization that our perception of a purposeful existence was perhaps built upon falsehoods, leaving us burdened with regret. Regret for having invested our time in pursuits and endeavours that we once believed to be meaningful.
The truth is that we are brainwashed by society. From a young age, we are indoctrinated with the notion that true fulfilment can only be achieved by building our own empire. We are led to believe that accumulating wealth, attaining status, and acquiring material possessions will unlock the true purpose of life. Society ingrains in us the idea that our worth is directly tied to our ability to ascend the social and status hierarchy. It subtly whispers in our ears, urging us to keep climbing, relentlessly pursuing the vague gold dust, even if it means trampling over others along the way. The promise is that once we reach the pinnacle, we will be revered as kings or queens, adored by the masses.
The reality is that most of the time, you may find yourself in the top spot feeling alone. While you may have gained admiration from the crowd, you may have lost the true value of life - the love of your co-workers, friends, and family.
Morrie's last lecture aimed to emphasize that building lasting relationships is the key to living a meaningful life. In his own words, "love others or die." Love holds the power to create a happy and fulfilling life. It is through the warmth, friendship, and love of others that we find fulfilment and happiness. Without love, we are nothing. Love acts as the fuel that keeps us going. Through the lens of love, we discover the purpose of our existence - to live in peace, harmony, and love with others. By contributing to our community, work, world, and family with love as our guiding principle.
Morrie wants us to realize that acknowledging our mortality can lead us to live differently. Understanding that we will all eventually die may encourage us to give more and take less. We will slow down and take the time to truly experience each moment, cherishing it as if it were our last, for tomorrow may never come.
Perhaps the sad truth is that we often chase worldly symbols of meaning because society leads us to believe they hold power and significance. However, we can come to the conclusion that we all need a mentor like Morrie to teach us the true meaning of life. Furthermore, we should strive to become mentors ourselves, making a positive impact on the world and leaving it a better place for future generations.
