persona 4: general date headcanons (yu narukami, yosuke hanamura, kanji tatsumi)

notes: gender-neutral reader, fluff, reader implied to be a part of the investigation team

yu narukami

kind of a classic romantic. starts with going out to a movie. will take you out to dinner and buy dessert. maybe even a quick trip to the hot springs to unwind before going home.

holds open doors for you and stuff (bc he's a GENTLEMAN!!!) and insists on paying when he can. but, if you really insist, he won't put up much of a fuss.

will stop on a walk to pet a cat he sees across the street. you join him (unless you're allergic in which he will carry some hand sanitiser on him at all times to wash his hands before going back to holding yours)

gives you a hug and kiss on the back of your hand before saying goodbye, but doesn't keep up the gentleman act seriously for long before bursting into giggles.

he's just a rlly sweet boy

yosuke hanamura

a bit less formal than yu, but still tries his best.

as much as he'd like to go all-out, taking you to the nicest places and spending the night dancing under the stars...... he's still just a part-time worker.

so he'll have to settle for something a bit more homey. buys all your favourite snacks and candy and invites you over to play video games with him.

does the thing where he sorta-spoons you (sits behind you, wraps his legs around your torso, and rests his chin on your head as you two play games). it makes him feel like The Man in the relationship, irregardless of your gender. you keep telling him he doesn't have to be this macho image of a strong, providing boyfriend, but he feels confident when he's the big spoon so yk, you go along with it

steals kisses whenever he can (usually to distract you from your game (bastard.)), but again, he's just too cute to get really mad at.

kanji tatsumi

cooks for you! he's actually a pretty decent cook (not as good as yu though) and along with cooking dinner, will probably have made something for you beforehand and gives it to you.

i imagine you and kanji would really be into stuff like journalling or colouring books. a date with kanji is Floor Time(tm) with some tv on in the background and doing a colouring date.

sometimes you'd do the thing where you put on a timer and after it goes off, swap drawings and finish what the other has drawn. kanji, despite being amazing at fabric arts, isn't the best artist. he tries his best though!!!!

sooner or later you'd probably end up cuddling with a mountain of plushies or other soft material while talking. such is life at the tatsumi household.

Kanji

It takes some time for him to get used to. He's an intimidating guy so for someone to want to be touchy or affectionate with him, well, it's definitely a change of pace.

I don't think he minds something like handholding. But he might act a bit pouty if he's held or given kisses in public because it's a bit embarrassing. He's not embarrassed of you being his S/O, but he's embarrassed of others seeing him being held and stuff.

In private, he prefers being held over handholding. Just cause he likes to use his hands and make things. He'll gladly let you koala hug him if you want, so long as he can keep working on his sewing.

Yosuke

It's a bit for him to get used to with your affection. He likes it, but he's also just not used to being so openly affectionate. Would be okay with handholding and small gestures before he gets more adjusted.

With what happened with Saiki, I feel like Yosuke is also rather affectionate and clingy with you in private. Just because of that tiny voice in the back of his head not wanting to lose you and being afraid of not spending enough time with you.

Is a lot more shy about PDA than he lets on. Especially in front of his friend group. So if you are being clingy then he might be a bit of a flustered mess.

inaba is a small town, so it's not too strange that people end up falling in love with the same person. but nobody, not even the investigation team itself, would've expected that they'd all fall in love with you!

there were a lot of new faces in inaba, but you were the most recent person moving to inaba and attending yasogami high school! all eyes were naturally on you, as the new kid, but some eyes lingered on you even longer than the rest…

yosuke and rise were the first ones to develop a crush on you! as soon as they saw you, they were drawn to your looks and only began to like you more the more they got to talk to you!

for yu, chie and yukiko it took a little more time to fall for you, as they had to get to know you better first. sure, they could see you were good looking and kind, but only when they saw more of you did they end up developing feelings for you

teddie gets to meet you last, as he doesn't attend yasogami high, but he's the first to actively flirt with you! (because of course he'd do that…)

while most members of the investigation team try to keep their crush on you a secret, teddie doesn't just reveal his own feelings to you, but those of the others as well!

especially yosuke and kanji get called out the most by teddie, who likes to tease them about their very obvious crushes on you! seemingly obvious to anyone but you…

the girls are a little more kind to each other! rise is the one who notices first that chie, yukiko and naoto have a crush on you as well, but she only lets the girls themselves know that she knows, instead of parading it around like teddie does with the boys!

rise makes it clear that she's a rival to the girls, but also supports them wherever she can. she believes there's a chance for all of them to find a way to work out a relationship with you, perhaps by sharing you between each other…

the boys are a bit more competitive, but that's mostly due to teddie pitting them against each other! yu and yosuke support each other and even across genders there are alliances, like naoto and kanji, who try not to get in each other's way or hurt their friends feelings on their way to win your heart!
