Evelyn Katherine

I’ve never done an update for Evelyn so I thought I’d do one.

Feeding

Evelyn started on solids a few weeks ago. She has been quite a fussy eater. She keeps pushing the food out of her mouth or refusing to open her mouth. She prefers finger foods and feeding herself. She has about four bottles of formula a day, usually on this schedule: 6:30am, 11:30am, 3pm and 7pm. She has water with her solid meals. She usually has two solid meals a day, sometimes it will be breakfast and lunch, sometimes breakfast and dinner or lunch and dinner.

Sleeping

Evelyn sleeps about 12 hours at night. She wakes up once for a feed and nappy change. She is a really sound sleeper and goes off without any problems. She sleeps in her own little room. Her bedtime is usually 8pm. She has two naps during the day; one in the morning about 9:30am/10am and one in the afternoon between 4 and 5pm. Occasionally she will have a third nap, depending of the day.

Growth and Development

Evelyn currently weighs 13lbs 12oz and is 23 inches in length. She is 3-6 month clothing.

Evelyn started crawling just after turning six months and now she’s always on the go. She is sitting up now and can sit up unsupported for about half a minute before she topples over. She can roll over from front to back and back to front too.

She is learning to reach and pick up small objects. I often find her in the parachute pose where she’s resting on her tummy with her arms and legs in the air. She is learning to hold a two handled bottle in her hands but she hasn’t quite mastered it yet.

She really likes toys that make noises. She loves taping the little piano in the playroom. She shrieks in delight every time it makes a noise. She also likes to imitate sounds.

She has started to teeth and is constantly drooling and sucking things or trying to bite things. I make sure she always has a teether and make sure I always keep a couple in my bag and her baby bag.

She’s a very cuddly baby. She loves being cuddled. She always snuggles into my chest and holds onto me. She never makes a fuss when anyone picks her arm. She just laps up the attention.

Baby’s first time in the Jumperoo!

A couple of days ago JJ went in the Jumperoo for the first time. He absolutely loved it. We have the Rainforest Jumperoo by Fisher Price from Mini-Outfitters. I absolutely love this Jumperoo. It is so supportive and it has plenty of activities to keep him occupied. We only put him in it for about ten minutes because he is only five and half months.

Also he tested out his new tummy snug. This he loved too. Although it was soon covered in some drool!

Christmas Eve!

I can’t believe it, it’s Christmas Eve already! We’re all so excited. JJ and Evelyn are too little to understand what’s going on. It is their first Christmas and I’m very excited. I bought them little first xmas onesies to wear tonight.

We’ve had a very relaxing day, well me and little ones. Sean, an electrician, got called into work as, one of his colleagues called in sick last night. His boss asked if he could cover his shift. Sean agreed as it meant a little overtime and was promised that it would be a half day.

In the morning the little ones were all really happy. Milena was really happy, and pretty hyper. She only had half an hour for her morning nap. She wanted to play with all of her toys at the same time, in the living room. I’m sure if I hadn’t said no when I did it would’ve looked like the apocalypse. JJ was lost in a mist of crawling, napping and teething. Evelyn was just content rolling about on the mat.

After lunch I dusted off the stroller and took the three of them for a walk. We took a stroll through a nearby park. There weren’t many people on the park really, so it was pretty peaceful.

We didn’t stay out for too long as it was pretty chilly. Evelyn was the only one who didn’t fall asleep while we were out, as JJ and Milena both fell asleep in the stroller.

I think she wore herself out!

Back home I gave the little ones an afternoon snack then started on the preparations for tomorrow. And Milena insisted she had to watch to make sure I did it right.

Whilst I was getting ready for tomorrow, Sean arrived home. Milena jumped out of my arms and ran to greet him. She was delighted to see him. She is a real daddy’s girl!

About seven I got the little ones ready for bed. 

JJ and Evelyn are ready for their first Christmas now!

Milena and I checked out the santa tracker on my laptop before I put her to bed. She was really excited. I took her downstairs and we put out a mince pie, some carrots and water and glass of milk for santa and his reindeer. Then I took her up to bed and we hung her stocking at the end of the her crib. Then I put her inside her crib and tucked her in with a goodnight kiss. She was already dropping off as I was leaving the room.

I can’t wait for Christmas!

Superdad!

This man his my real life superhero. Running around after three children after two is a hard job but when this man is around it feels so simple. I love him so much.

plus JJ tries out new jumper. tbh I’m not sure he was all that keen on it to start with though!

Special Guest!

This adorable little girl is my cousin Evelyn. She’s three weeks old exactly. She’s staying with us while her mum is in hospital. Her parents were involved in a car accident. Her dad was killed on impact. Her mom was injured badly. We’re hopeful she’ll survive.

Off to Nana and Granddad’s plus What I Packed.

Early this morning we set off for Sean’s parents. We’re staying with them for four nights in their spare room. They live 300 miles away from us so it is a long drive there. We decided to travel early in the morning as there would be less traffic and the little ones would be less craggy. We’re making the trip as Sean’s parents haven’t met JJ yet. We decided to travel to them as they said we can stay in their spare room and Sean can see his brothers and sister. 

This was JJ’s first long-car ride and he did really well. He didn’t cry too much and slept a fair bit of the way. We did stop regularly so I could check on him properly, change him and feed him. We’ve made this trip several times with Milena. The first time we made the trip with her, she cried a lot of the way. I was sitting in the back with her but even seeing my face didn’t calm her. I was in the front this time but JJ coped a lot better than his sister. All babies are different. Milena was ok this time. She’s older now and she had teethers and small toys to play with. We had mirrors on the back of the seats facing the carriers so we could see them and make sure that they were ok and that Milena was doing anything dangerous with her toys.

She slept for the first hour and half then she woke up and was awake for several hours then fell asleep once more. She was awake for the last half an hour of the journey and her face lit up when she saw her Nana’s face. JJ slept for about two and half hours. We stopped around this time and I woke him up for a feed. He stayed awake for about an hour then nodded back off to sleep and slept for the rest of the journey.

After a six hour journey we finally arrived at Sean’s parents house. Their faces lit up when they saw us and their grandchildren. Sean’s sister Bella came running out and cooed over her niece and nephew. I’ll posts some pics of them together soon.
