okay here's a concept: vampirism but it doesn't change the way blood smells or tastes to you at all. you know that you're hungry, you know that this is what you need, but the sensation is still that of biting down on salty skin and flesh and muscle. your teeth aren't so razor sharp that they piece skin like tissue paper, you have to apply force with your jaw and deliberately rip a hole into someone. blood tastes like blood, hot mouthfuls of it pouring down your throat, and if you don't manage to keep it down then you'll just have to repeat this whole process again almost immediately. vampirism that is simply really not pleasant and makes you feel as animalistic and unclean as possible.

After the murder of her husband Amelia had to leave her house - his house - take all of his money and disappear for good somewhere nobody knew his name. Luckily for her the Count was extremely wealthy and left all of his money to her in his will, a weird gesture she still doesn't understand the meaning of, but thanks to it she managed to acquire a proprietary in the –shire, an old mansion overlooking a hill and an enormous park that was part of the property. Moving there as soon as she possibly could, she now likes to spend her days painting in the garden or wandering in the park, never venturing out into society in the daylight.. only at night she left her premises sometimes, to feed on the poor souls in the nearest village.

An unexpected visit from one of her neighbours, Mr Pembroke, changed the peace she had managed to built for herself, cause after that soon started the visits of his wife, a delightful young lady who took a liking to her and especially her artistic talents, she wanted a portrait of her own. It was easy for them to bond over their unfortunate situations, their dreadful husbands, the neverending small town gossip… it was even easier for them to develop feelings for each other and for over a year they managed to hide their secret affair and the secret of Amelia’s true nature (that she didn't reveal to anyone, not even Louisa)

Unfortunately for them the husband found out that they were lovers and was keen on putting an end to it and his marriage in the way men do most things, with violence. Unfortunately For Him Amelia wasn't the sweet lady she appeared to be and stood to defend both of them from him, killing him in the end and also revealing her true nature to Louisa, who at first was scared shitless but then she did what every silly little girl in vampire stories does: she asked to be turned yay ! and so on and so on come back later for more
