coyotes are powerful hunters. though they don’t look like they could pack a punch due to their cute and fuzzy appearance, they are some of the most vicious predators out there. coyote!natalie is a prime example of this. she looks approachable with her cute pointy ears and fluffy tail, but she’s really a creature of the night.

After defeating Pariah Dark, Phantom -High King of the Infinite Realms- joins the JL or YJL.

Danny is a great addition to the team, he’s surrounded by other people with powers (even if they didn’t have to die to get them), he doesn’t have to hide who he is. Nobody is hunting him anymore. The Anti-Ecto acts have been abolished and so has the GIW. He can still help people but the pressure isn’t just on him anymore. His parents accept him. Danny is happy.

But one day, one fateful day…

Pariah rises again.

The magic users are scrambling. The JL and YJ are frantic. Danny is…

Pretty calm, actually. A little annoyed, perhaps.

That kinda tracks. He’s the high king of the infinite realms and all the dead. He’s defeated Pariah before- and now he’s older, more experienced, with a team that he’s never had before. He’s explored his powers and authority to an extent his past self could only dream of.

So when Pariah Dark, former Tyrant of the Dead, storms the watchtower where the heroes have gathered, they’re a little off-put by it but ready to defend their home with all their might- a newfound confidence from Phantom’s nonchalance.

But who would’ve guessed that Pariah Dark, former Tyrant of the dead, would ask Phantom..

If he could adopt him?

Danny guessed, it seemed.

“No.” Danny glared at him.

“I can give you-“

“I don’t want anything from you, you frootloop. Piss off.” Danny said pointedly, tapping his foot impatiently.

“I can offer you wisdom to lead your kingdom that you won’t find anywhere else!” Pariah said exasperated, waving his arms around.

“I don’t want a tyrant’s advice.” Danny sneered. The rest of the heroes exchanged glances. This certainly wasn’t on anybody’s bingo card.

“Alright, that’s fair, but-“

“Ive been ruling my kingdom just fine. Piss off.” Danny jabbed a finger at him. “I will eat your core if you ask again.” Pariah paled, (as much as a ghost could), then grumbled about getting him eventually before finally, finally leaving in a swirling, neon green portal.

Danny left in one of his own, after bidding goodbye to the rest of them. Nobody wanted to ask what that was about. He seemed pissed.

A little while later, the heroes finally got around to processing what exactly happened that morning.

The.. former king of the dead, known tyrant, the one who Danny defeated.. came back to ask??? If he could adopt Danny???? Again???? As in he tried asking before????????

There was much pandemonium for the heroes that fateful day.

bart isn’t invulnerable but is fast enough to dodge almost anything and heals super fast, anita has magic, slobo, cassie, and kon are all super-strong and near indestructible, and greta is made of mist so not really an issue

which is how “code r” is born

short for code red, and also code robin, it is the protocol for keeping squishy, human tim alive in the field. it’s not that he’s not capable, but it’s the simple fact that the rest of them can survive things that tim very much can’t. imagine an explosion going off and tim being tackled from three different directions (bart, cassie, kon, in order). he hated it at first because he thought it meant that they thought he wasn’t capable, but has since realized

there’s nothing he can do about it, no matter how much he complained he can’t actually stop them

they aren’t exactly wrong, and it’s better for him to be able to remain on the field than get serious injuries

most importantly, he will be able to lord over jason that he has never died in an explosion

Tim always borrows Kon’s clothes, and Kon thinks it’s the cutest thing in the world, seeing Tim clad in his too-big shirts and his jackets- and Tim always looks so goddamn happy about it so… Kon decides to give it a try

Enter Kon wearing one of Tim’s shirts that is way too small on him, fitting him less like a t-shirt and more like a crop top.

Bart can’t stop laughing, Cassie is taking a million photos, and Tim takes one look and thinks perhaps it is possible to die from embarrassment.

so this is another hc for my codename: nightingale series, but this is the first time Dinah introduces Birdy to people outside of Star City, and it's the root of Robin's crush on her, but also the root of her friendship with Wally.

so dinah brings her to her first meet up with Wally, Dick, and kaldur.

and in the way the numbers have been crunched via fic magic — there is no roy yet (more to come on this later)

Nightingale has not made her official debut just yet, so she’s just going by Birdy.

Which explains the nickname a little

Dinah shows up with this little girl and she's dressed in black leather, black combat boots, and black lipstick. She looks like a little mini Canary, and it's adorable, because she's small

she has about 3 to 4 inches on Robin since girls grow earlier.

she’s just barely shorter than wally who’s a few years older

Dinah introduces her to everybody, “I’d like everybody to meet my new partner in crime, everybody this is Birdy. She hasn't made her official Star City debut just yet, we’ve got a bit more training to complete, but she's getting there.”

Bruce, who knows exactly who Birdy really is, is watching her with his analytical eyes, because he wants to see how she's doing, how she’s adapting, to ensure that she really is ready for this. It’s the first time he’s seen her in person in a while, probably since the trial of her parent’s murderers.

Flash manages to make a small crack about replacing GA that gets a ghost of a smile on yns lips

“Finally get sick of GA, Canary? You know we’d have been happy to replace him ourselves,” he flirts a little, but all the adults know it’s completely playful. “Then again, if I had to stare at his ugly mug everyday, I’d probably want to find someone else to partner with too,” he sighs, pulling a light chuckle out of Aquaman, and a small smile on your face.

which B is very happy to see, because frankly, he’s not sure he’s seen birdy smile since before her parents deaths

The kiddies on the other hand, are in awe, they want to know more about this new person, because oh my gosh, it's a girl! and oh my gosh she’s kind of adorable!

without a doubt they’re underestimating her the slightest bit— except rob, because he knows that looks can be deceiving, because Bruce had taught him not to underestimate anyone.

So maybe, Flash gets a little cocky. He looks at Birdy and sees she's small, and realizes know she hasn't actually said anything yet and she's standing just to the side of Dinah, but a few steps behind, almost like she wants to hide behind her mentor.

So flash looks at the kid and looks at KF and then looks at Dinah and is like “what about a little action, huh, Canary? 10 bucks that KF can take your baby bird,” Dinah raises an eyebrow and looks at him, and she's like “really flash? Betting on the children?” The flash shrugs, “we’re here to see their skills, make sure they’re up to par, no?” he adds, defending his offer.

Before anyone else can say anything Oliver saunters up and is like, “I’ll take that action,” looking straight at flash, “but only if you make it 50 bucks.”

and robin who is analyzing the new girl sees as her lips turn up just the slightest bit, and how she stands just a bit straighter, basking in Oliver’s confidence of her.

Flash accepts.

Dinah’s like “all right boys before you go and pull your wallets, why don't we actually check with the kids?”

KF says he's down, absolutely underestimating Birdy

The boys pull him over to them for a second, and whisper in their little huddle

robin: you sure about this man?

KF: shes little, she’s new, it shouldnt be too bad

aqualad: perhaps we should not judge this particular book from her cover?

KF: maybe someday, but look at her? she’s like 10!

But then everyone shifts to look at Birdy because again she still hasn't said anything yet.

YN raises an eyebrow at KF, looks him up and down, and then turns to Dinah and shrugs

safe to say, she lays him flat on his ass despite his powers. and she does it quick.

Kaldur and Ollie are laughing

Bruce has got this lil quirk of a smile at the corner of his mouth

Barry’s caught between laughing and awe because that little girl who’s less than half his height, just took his boy down.

Wally’s on the ground groaning, but he looks at her when she steps into his line of sight, blocking the ceiling, and offers her hand to him to pull him back up.

and instead he says “marry me” gaining a slightly bashful smile from her, and a new round of laughter from the boys.

Birdy, ever a team player, sobers her look just a little, and finally says something.

“your stance was off from the very start. Speedster or not if you don't have a good footing you'll never win in a fight.”

But Dinah?

Dinah’s so proud of her kid. Not only because she won, which is huge, but she did exactly what D would want her to do, she helped her ally improve, and you can be damn sure that Wally’s careful with his stance going forward, and Dinah knows it’s because of what happened that day.

leaving Rob, who, at first bust out laughing watching his best friend go down to the floor so fast, but he’s also in awe because omg she’s so cool!

flash hands over the $50, and ollie takes it winking at Birdy, ruffling her hair as dinah rolls her eyes but squeezes Birdy’s shoulder appreciatively so Birdy’s smiling because she made them proud..

GA: way to go kid, how about we get aqualad next, huh?

So every scene I’ve been introduced to dp x dc, or more specifically in this case, young justice and dp. I’ve been thinking about the fact that yj Wally west purposefully recreated his uncles lab accident (Idk if this is the case with other Wally west but I know it is for yj so) to become a speedster.

Well imagine Danny finding out about this and losing his fucking shit. I’m someone who always headcannons that Danny was a lot more affected by his accident than he let on, so imagine mr emotionally repressed Danny learning that Wally not only willingly but purposefully recreated a dangerous lab accident just bc he wanted power.

Imagine Danny losing it as Wally. Screaming at his things like, what were you thinking? Do u understand how dangerous that was? And, you could have died!!

To the last one Wally says he had it under control and while there was a risk it was minimal. “Plus fatal lab accidents are a lot rarer than you think. Think about it. How many people do u know that died in a lab accident.”

Technically you weren't his 'child' just another experiment that had failed, but you looked like him and the public adored you so keeping you locked up in a lab was out of the question.

To the world, you were your father's child, rich, disconnected from the rest of the world and spoilt

but to those who knew you, you were the direct opposite. Whatever money was given to you you'd donate or organise food drives for the underprivileged in Metropolis.

You'd often use your company credit card and the only reason you weren't punished was because PR said it was good for the company's image.

You met the Young Justice team through your powers but not in the way everyone would think.

You were on your way back from one of the drives you'd organized when the city was attacked by one of the many villains that tried to take on Superman but this time it was the sidekicks- or as they preferred Young Justice.

You ran and hid inside a shop but soon the fighting reached right outside and a green tiger was thrown in through the shop's window.

Even though you were panicking you mustered up whatever courage you had and spoke to the wounded animal and it looked surprised and even more so when it roared back and you understood what it- he said.

The tiger then transformed into a human, threw a flirty line at you, and ran back out to fight.

Later that night, you were visited by the very scary, very hot and very concerning Robin, who interrogated you before giving you his 'number' and disappearing.

i'll probably write more about the event that makes birdy's crush really cement, but for now, here's how i imagine it!

birdy has a crush!

like i said, we knew from day 1 she had a crush. and we see a lot of her development of said crush. but what if we take it back a beat. what if we went back to where it started bc i can guarantee it wasn’t until robin did something to prove himself

but there must've been a day or a mission or a training exercise she did with the other sidekicks after she came back from Atlantis.

(you know, maybe when she came back, she was really tan from being in the sun on the beach?)

But whatever it is, that happens after she comes back, and you know everybody's excited to see her obviously, but she notices things cause it's been almost like a year too since she saw anybody but kaldur.

Both boys have grown. wally’s taller than her now, though Robin’s like not exactly, but getting close.

Maybe he does something that shows her the softer side, sweeter side, something other than the show-off that is the Dark Knight detective’s sidekick protégé and she's just a little in awe.

this acts as the root of her crush...

something kaldur mercilessly teases her for especially given how she was basically a gremlin to him when she realized Kaldur had a crush on tulla

"turnabout is fair game, my friend," he says with a smirk, eyes twinkling in amusement as he watches the young girl stare at the boy in question.

I saw this old tiktok from like 5ish months ago about tim drake and saying that they hate him and like his fanon version. And i as a TIM FAN i am on tumblr now to defend the fandom (Im not going to link the video bc if this blows up i DO NOT want the person getting blasted bc these are takes they had in like june of 2024) Also in all fairness this person is talking about the “crazy” tim drake fans (some might even reach to say stans) Im just yapping my opinions as (in my personal opinion) a very reasonable tim fan

Also this is very long so buckle up 🫡

Their first point (stated as 1. (i will be stating their points as “#.” and my response as “-“)) Also i refer to op as “they” and “their” bc i didnt wanna put them on blast, sorry if it’s confusing. I put (op) next to references to them that might be confusing

1. Tim drake is mis-characterized by the fandom which leads to it becoming canon

- They are not wrong with this, HOWEVER please note that a lot of fans who like batman (SPECIFICALLY bat family are reading fanfics or WFA) meaning that their knowledge of what is cannon and what isn’t is misconstrued. (reminder that WFA isn’t cannon to the main DCU (i’m like 90% sure) While i do disagree with some of ppls headcannons (coffee addiction Tim DrakeTM i’m looking at you) I don’t see issue in writers making headcannons cannon. it could mean a lot to the fans AND MEANS THAT THE WRITERS ARE LISTENING TO THE FANS

2. Tim drake fans bringing him up every chance they get (ie: bringing him up with the fact he might have been at the flying graysons routine where they died)

- Yeahhhh i got nothing to say about this.. Tbh ppl just like their fave, i feel like SOME tim drake fans get a victim complex with him (or whatever you’d classify it as) and like feel the need to relate him to every single character

3. The “Timdrakeafication” of every single robin

- THE TEEN TITANS ROBIN LOOKS LIKE TIM IM SORRY SOMEONE HAD TO SAY IT SO DOES THE ROBIN IN YOUNG JUSTICE 🗣️🗣️🗣️

NOW here’s my evidence, also i made an insta story abt this. 1) Tim is THE robin (especially in his first comics) to have changed up the robin suit design

All of tim’s suits (unused and used) were KNOWN for changing up Robins look (Id say that they were making him look more “adult”) (also he’s known (especially IN THE COMICS) for being the robin with the pants. Is it unreasonable for Tim fans to think that hes the robin in the shows?? (ALSO it’s a very fair assumption for tim to be the Robin in YJ bc THATS HIS FUCKING TEAM??? HE WAS THE ROBIN WHO LED THEM!!! TEEN TITANS IS DICKS TEAM)

also tim is explicitly shown using a bow staff in the first ‘Robin’ issue. He specifically picks out a collapsible reed staff from Lady Shivas friend’s collection (which i find hilarious)

So when first seeing Robin in Teen Titans (and Teen Titans Go) It’s not unreasonable to assume he’s Tim (Now to be fair i haven’t seen all of Teen Titans (fake fan ik 😔) So take my opinion on this with a grain of salt)

Though, ppl still getting them confused about who is who is on them especially bc they’ve had multiple instances where it is confirmed (in both season 1 yj and teen titans) who is who (Tim is literally in season 2 (and kinda 3) of yj

ALSO they bring up the fact that Damian is starting to look like tim and i have nothing to say to that bc im not a super huge damian fan (other than WFA which imo does justice to his character) and I couldn’t tell you shit about it BAHAHA

4. Tim being ‘underrated’ in the fandom

-Tim is not underated in the fandom. HOWEVER because rn it is Damian’s turn to be robin it is difficult to find main stream comics with Tim (Batman: Failsafe my love) And i believe that in a lot of Tiktok’s and fandom media about the birds and bats skip out on Tim bc he is seen as overrated so they just skip over him (which bruh what???) Nightwing literally has a comic series currently still releasing. Damian had the batman and son comics, and his own robin comics.(im pretty sureee) Tim (and dick) both have a compendium out (i love my Tim Drake Compendium 🫶🫶) Jason has the death in the family book, and other red hood comics (however his character tends to get boiled down to just the angry robin, and he doesn’t have a currently airing comic series). None of the 4 boys robins are technically under rated.

Real underrated batfamily members: Duke Thomas, Stephenie Brown, Cass Caine. (i swear if anyone says Duke was a robin it’s on sight/lh)

5. Dick threatening to send Tim to Arkham bc he thought bruce was alive

-NO DICK NEVER IN CANNON THREATENED THIS. This was a fic, meant for tim drake angst. Their (op) argument that Bruce (i’m going off the failsafe cannon idk if their is another instance where bruce gets lost in the time stream/ multiverse) was buried and gone (they don’t have a funeral for him girl (gender neutral) what?? Also no one argued that Bruce wasn’t alive, Tim didn’t even go to the league with this one he talks to Jon, Dick (dick actually believes that Bruce is alive) And Mister Tarrific (Michael Holt)

Dick believes that Bruce is alive BUT doesn’t think they can do anything about it. Dick isn’t stupid, there’s very little chance that he’d actually think Bruce is dead. HOWEVER where is your whimsy?? Where is your want for angst?? Tim being thrown in arkham came from a fic (im pretty sure) it wanted to push the idea of everyone thinking tim was crazy like he said in exhibit h, top right frame: “I’m tired of everyone looking at me like i’m crazy.” The point of fandom and fanfiction is to take your own idea and make it into a story about characters that already exist. Tim haters using this au (we’ll call it) as an excuse to hate on tim “🤓☝️bc it’s not cannon that Dick threw him in Arkham” boils my blood (not literally i try and be a passive guy)

6: Tim fans “villainizing” other hero characters (ie: Dick Grayson)

- One of their points is that Tim fans villainize Dick for choosing Damian as his robin. All i have to say to this is: If your older sibling who you explicitly looked up to chose your younger sibling who is know to be a brat (not saying that Damian is actually a brat BUT (and maybe i’m projecting) Tim would probably see him as a brat bc that kid tried to kill him before, because he thought that tim wasn’t fit to hold the role of Robin) you’d probably be hurt, and pissed. SO ppl “villainizing” Dick aren’t really, they are showing (in my experience at least) that, that is how Tim views Dick at that moment bc he’s pissed off at his brother.

7. They (op) says that they’ll get so much hate for their tim drake takes, but literally all the comments agree with them. As a closing thought they said that they wouldn’t be making this video but it’s so prevalent now (in the fandom ig??) and that it’s (tim drake’s character??) so hard to ignore that they had to rant a make the video

- I have one thing to say: WHERE IS YOUR WHIMSY???

In conclusion, I wish no ill will on this person, they seem chill, and like a good fan. However they talk very condescendingly (Someone pls lmk if i sound the same lol) and ignore the fact that it is called FANNON for a reason. It is the fans cannon and we can add what ever head cannons we want. It is very easy to ignore a characters fandom, block the tags on tumblr, click ‘not interested’ on tiktok like- girl (gn) you just need to do the work and your life quality will be so much better PLEASEEEE. Well I agree with some of their points (like tim not actually being underrated) it is hard to ignore that there seemed to be very little research done for this (It’s a tiktok so it not that big of a deal lmao) but when taking about the cannon and fannon i believe that you need to take into account the cannon comics, and make a distinction between fannon and cannon. I do not like the commment about Bruce being dead, and saying that they watched him get buried. He was technically incinerated by Failsafe, they (atleast in the failsafe and the bat-man of Gotham) didnt hold a funeral.

Chip Zdarsky and Jorge Jiménez i love you, pls read the fail safe and the bat-man of Gotham comics they are beautiful and very well written imo.
