- he honestly enjoys the way you light up talking about the media you’re into, even if he isn’t quite retaining the information

- he doesn’t mind asking about it again just to hear your piece

- he thinks it’s sort of sweet that you get so heavy into a piece of media that you’d defend it to the ground, especially if its media that isn’t too widely liked or known or have much of a fanbase. he thinks it’s cool that he’s that person for you, like he’s getting insider information from a reliable source

- he finds himself seeing the media in the wild and immediately thinking about your thoughts on it, if he sees a figure of a character you don’t like or a poster of an arc you loved he’d be sure to point it out to himself

- will find himself going “man, fuck this character” to himself because of you, immediately shaking his head and wondering what was wrong with him. He didn’t even know the character, but he subconsciously has an opinion on them because of you

- back to you though, he would have a hard time physically sitting down to watch or read what you’re into, or try out a hobby you like, but when the moment comes where you offer watching the series with him he will jump on it without a second thought

- you do talk and pause to rewind certain parts in it, which he usually wouldn’t like people doing, but it doesn’t matter to him. it’s not like he’s watching the show anyways, he’s too fixated on you and how close you two are on his couch

ALAN:

- now he would ACTUALLY know what you’re talking about and pay attention to the movies and series

- usually he would just state he’s seen it or doesn’t care for it, but he’s breaking habits if it’s something you’re visibly excited about

- of course he’s happy to rewatch it though

- “no, I don’t know about it, is it good?” he’s seen the movie four times

- alan the type of man to stare at you blankly and resist the urge to add his own opinions and facts, but stays quiet for the plot

- he does genuinely enjoy having you so vocal about a subject you’re so passionate about, you’re somehow one of the only people he doesn’t get too overstimulated around, plus this way he doesn’t have to talk as much

- the day you offered a movie marathon at his place was a turning point, him taking the day off before just so he can clean and make the place acceptable, going the lengths to get usual movie snacks and blankets and such. this, and him hiding his books and dvds so that you wouldn’t stumble on them and find out he’s been pretending this entire time

- for the sake of the plot we’re ignoring alan being a morning person, in this universe he’s a night owl hence the eye bags

- the marathon goes on for later in the night than you both anticipated, after the first several hours and rambles of explaining you find yourself more and more tired and you pause the movies less and less

- it doesn’t take Alan long to notice that you fell asleep just like that, the blanket around the two of you and the bowl of chips discarded beside you

- he doesn’t care about that though, what he does care about is your head centimeters away from his shoulder

- not feeling even a little tired, he pauses the movie and carefully grabs his phone, sure not to move himself or you and writes down the time and place he paused, sure that you’d want to continue in the morning or another day. he’s also sure to write a small summary of where you two left off, now that you both “watched it together” he can talk back in infodump conversations and not give away that he knows the parts you two didn’t watch

- he’s quick to move when you shift in your sleep, him carefully but rapidly moving his hand from between you two and scooping his shoulder right under your head. you didn’t seem to wake or notice, a small lazy smile of success on his face as the two of you spend the rest of the night on the couch, him on his phone and you resting peacefully on his shoulder.

I will never get over the injustice of the fact that we never got a mutual hug between Sofia and Cedric. Not once, in all the times she hugged him, has he ever hugged her back.

Not even in season 4 when he finally turned over a new leaf and truly accepted/embraced his friendship with her, and how much he cared about her.

In season 2's 'Winter's Gift', there was a deleted storyboard/scene where they would have actually shared a hug at the end after Sofia gave him the homemade wand case for Wassailia, (which he was canonically overjoyed and touched to receive in the actual episode, saying it was the best present he ever got; it would have made the mutual hug all the more precious and meaningful, a milestone in their relationship, showing how much he truly had come to cherish her friendship). But I can't see any logical reason it would have gotten cut for time, because I don't see how that would have taken up any time at all, especially if it was meant to take place during the sweet "Happy holidays, Mr. Cedric" / "Yes, well, it is happy, isn't it?" exchange right at the end. And I can't see why the Disney higher-ups would have disapproved it, because it would have shown even more growth in Cedric's character. And not only were we deprived of a mutual hug, but there was no hug at all in the actual episode (it would have been so sweet to at least have Sofia hug him).

Near the end of season 2's 'The Enchanted Feast', after Sofia and Cedric manage to defeat Miss Nettle together, Sofia hugs him. And... it's not totally obvious, because Sofia was kind of in the way of his arm, but it does look like he either gave her a one-armed hug or at least affectionately patted her on the back (either way, it's absolutely adorable, and I can't stop rewinding it to this part every time I watch this episode). In any case, it's the closest we got to a canon shared hug between them (and maybe it was one), so it's one of my favorite scenes in the series! I don't know how to make gifs, so I'll try to show it in this clip (it's at the 0:34 mark) and in a couple screenshots:

The only time he TRULY hugged her back wasn't even 100% canon! It took place at the end of that cute 'Rain, Rain, Go Away' nursery rhyme short on Disney Junior's Youtube channel:

Now, if only that's what we'd got at the end of the series finale ('Forever Royal') after she thanked him for saving her from the amulet!! But not only did she not hug him at all one last time, but it would have been a perfect opportunity for him to be the one to initiate a hug, showing even more of his incredible character development and their bond:

It also was a missed opportunity for them to share a mutual hug at the end of the first episode of season 4 'Day of the Sorcerers' after Cedric earnestly expressed his gratitude to Sofia for defending him and advocating for a second chance to Roland (during the scene where Cedric was still on his knees after pleading for forgiveness to Roland, and Sofia returns his wand after Roland agrees to reinstate him as royal sorcerer). It really was a missed opportunity, because that the was the episode where Cedric finally truly chose friendship with Sofia over his evil dreams. But again, there was no hug at all:

And another fantastic opportunity would have been in s4's 'In Cedric We Trust', after Cedric sacrificed his safety to save Sofia's life, nearly injuring him. ("I can't believe how you saved me like that! You could have gotten really hurt!" / "So could you, Sofia."). Once again, zero hug at all (but it was so adorable how he took her by the hands, at least):

I would certainly hope that if Sofia had hugged him in all those scenes, he would have finally hugged her back!!

And again, him finally being the one to first hug her would have been FRIGGING EVERYTHING.

some season 7 thoughts mostly focusing around the disaster that was Runaan's second trip to Katolis...

buckle up lads, it's gonna be a long one

First of all, do i think Ezran was wrong for locking up Runaan?

absolutely not

This kid just had his entire kingdom burn down and is now staring at the man who killed his dad seemingly but that's another matter. He's allowed to be pissed, and he's well within his rights to arrest Runaan. I was honestly shocked he was the ONLY one acting upset. I thought for sure the second Soren saw Runaan that he'd be drawing steel, since if I remember correctly (and i could totally be wrong, it's been a while since i watched it thru from the beginning, so have mercy), Soren actually fought Runaan while trying to defend Harrow??

So Ezran's actions are not what bother me about the whole plot point. What bothers me is that this is only happening now??? Like, I'm not even convinced Ezran fully knew who Runaan was other than the assassin that killed his dad. Did Rayla ever tell him that's her dad and I just forgot? Did Callum ever tell him 'hey we're trying to free Rayla's dad (the man that killed our dad) from his coin prison that Viren put him in, just a heads up so you can digest that'? That seems like a massive thing to just spring on a person when you've been planning it for several seasons at this point. Couldn't have written him a letter even... smh

And then on top of that...they bring Runaan to Katolis like absolute dumbasses. Like if you're not going to have the decency to warn your brother that you're planning to break Rayla's dad out of coin jail, the least you could do is just let Ezran keep his blissful ignorance and peace on the matter. It was just an objectively stupid move from all three of them (Callum, Rayla, and yes Runaan himself like wait outside my dude). As the saying goes, play stupid games win stupid prizes. Naturally you bring the guy who killed the king to the kingdom...he's gonna get thrown in jail, and it was all perfectly avoidable if they rubbed even two brain cells together.

okay maybe that was a little mean, but it was a stupid thing to do and i hope we can all agree on that.

but it's what happened so we move on to the next domino in this disaster: rayla breaking runaan out.

Was I all for it?

Yes. Let me be very clear, Runaan is my favorite and he and Ethari's reunion was literally the only thing i cared about this season

I wanted to strangle someone.

The only good thing, imo, is that she did tell Callum ahead of time. That's growth! She knew what she felt she needed to do and let him know. And very critically, she did not want him involved because she knew this was going to hurt Ezran and didn't want to put Callum in a position to directly pick her over his brother. It is so clear that Ezran is in turmoil and he deserves to have his brother there with him. Callum SHOULD have stayed with his brother, but they had to be stupid and stage a prison break in broad daylight like absolute bafoons. I just...it's so dumb.

I get that the idea is to not keep Ethari waiting 'one minute longer' than needed, but come on guys. You can still race back to the Silvergrove while taking reasonable precautions to ensure you actually make it back to Ethari alive. I think he'd prefer that actually.

It just all felt contrived for drama, at the cost of characters acting reasonably intelligent especially my man Runaan who's a fully grown adult and should have known better than just walk into Katolis, ffs man critical thinking skills

What's my take away from this long mess? That this should have been a building conflict within our original trio starting from the moment Rayla got the coins and understood what they were. Ezran should have been involved in the discussions on freeing Rayla's parents, especially Runaan. If that's too much to ask for, we should have atleast seen some conflict out of Callum on the matter (Harrow was his dad too). It's a fumbled arc in my opinion, thru and thru

but hey that's just me, just needed to put some thoughts to paper as it were. hopefully this mess makes sense

Marinette is such a disappointment of a lead female character in a western magical girl cartoon. She isn't a good leader and all her team consist of yes men and women and sidekick Chat Noir where her real partner Alya is standing over to the side. I liked her in the first two season and maybe some in s3 but the s4 and onward just got to me ngl. It's her world and we're all just living in it. Miraculous is so weird when it comes to team dynamics because I get she's guardian but I really wished it were someone else and not her because she chooses people she already get along great with. It fun for team dynamics to add be different and broader.

The whole she's just 14 the fandom spouts only goes so far how many messes do you do until you realise you need to own up to them even at that age when you should know better on your conduct ?

I get it hard to communicate but onwards I always thought the bigger of the two in the conflict was her because of her secrecy and her controlling tendencies. I disliked it so much in the ephemeral episode and her betraying her partner disgusted me. Sorry to those who like or defend her character this much but I can't stan or like a character that does this much crap to a friend let alone a love interest and then gloss over or minimize it and not be called out for it. Like, are people standards that low they think she's a good leader or a good proper representation on feminism when this show reeks of misogyny and misandry. She's the ultimatum voice for Astruc.

A communication issue with her Chat was fine a long time ago but now in s5 she crossed it hell nah how do people still support a ship with her knowing she followed Hawkmoth command for Adrien. I literally can't anymore with this show. Every guy she likes gotta be so 100 percent in effort and like in the Shadybug special him always comforting her makes me so jaded whenever she cries what about a change in dynamics had we ever seen her comfort him in turn how are people invested in this ship? Like that time in the bench and she just thought of ways to woo or give presents instead of just comforting him is so sad to watch.

She really followed in Master Fu steps. The bar is in hell and she crossed it in the finale. There is no excuse no handwaving it away and i know in my heart they gonna minimize it for Adrien own good. Everything is for his own good huh? What good is it rooting for a ship that just reeks of pity points. Like, she was never my favorite but who knew 8 years ago she'd pull a stunt like this and people bending over and doing mental gymnastics to rationalise this insanity. She really is a good foil to Gabriel ironically to bad she has no sway in this family drama we call the Agreste.

I know she has good intentions and it's not wrong for her to wish to save her prince but like thats all that is intention. Her actions are also important and the effects she's done is so bad that if she weren't the Main character and we haven't spent the chunk of the majority in her pov alone she'd be disliked.

I feel like compared to other respective series Winx Club s1-3 Bloom, Danny Phantom, Ben 10, Totally Spies they have it much more harder and so many more all show the consequences of your actions and how you do them right and they're her age. I feel like whenever someone bring up consequences it's like people in this particular fandom think we do it to punish Marinette but no I just never ever saw it properly done in this show because she's very coddled in the narrative. I don't see other MC as coddled as her before in a show where when they MESS UP it's actually integral and important.

You encapsulated all my thoughts perfectly, anon. I've said so many times before that I loved Marinette from Season 1-3 and even during Season 4 as it aired. What made me fall out of love with her character post Season 4 was the utter lack of acknowledgement of her actions and the insistence in portraying her as in the right at all times. Like you said, it's not just your intentions that matter. Your actions and the effects that they have on the people around you also matter. The writers don't seem to understand this, and it hits Marinette's character worst of all. She had so much potential to be such a great character, which is why I feel so sad seeing just how badly the writing failed her. Marinette deserved better.

Warren hate has always been ableist in the very beginning. He gets too much shit for not understanding Max's body language. He gets a lot of hate 'for not taking a hint' or understanding social cues. Hell in the very beginning of the fandom like in 2015 i think i remember there were angry pricefielders calling Warren the literal r slur because he's 'so stupid'. Their words not mine. l I've seen people talk about how they're convinced he's a s*ciopath or a n*rcissist or a ps*chopath which I find ableist and uncomfortable. I think the biggest red flag from the fandom is how there's a lot of shit talk about Warren is an 'obsessive freak/stalker' in their eyes to talking in general about how 'obsessiveness' and 'obsessions' are red flags and are signs of 'evil' apparently and not symptoms of mental illness or neurodivergency apparently. I really relate to Warren and I also suffer from obsessive and actual intrusive thoughts, so i find this fandom to be extremely cruel and alienating toward people with stigmatizing illnesses which I find explains the Chloe demonization bc she is so BPD coded. I don't think Warren is autistic coded like Max but I do think he's ADHD / OCD coded in a way I can't explain. Sorry to drop this really long rant in your inbox, but you're not wrong about the Warren demonization and I just wanted to say something about it. Becauze the demonization of all these characters go back to ableism and the Life Is Strange fandom is the most ableist fandom I've ever been in at all and that really speaks volume about how atrocious it is.

He very much struggles with social interactions, very evident by the way he only talks teachers or people that are into the same stuff as him, he can become very chatty, sometimes too much, when it comes to things he likes which comes off as "annoying" and "obsessive" when he just wants friends.

I share. Alot of the same traits as Warren, with myself also having ADHD and liking science and talking excessively to the point where I find MYSELF annoying.

It's so upsetting too that the developers leaned INTO the stalker/obsessive Warren allegations that I can't even fucking talk about him or mentioning that I like him on certain platforms without the fear of people saying I "support stalking" which I don't. I can't defend him and say that he wasn't stalking without someone going, "but it's canon, the developers confirmed it!!" Yeah well, Mark and Nathan have done some more fucked up shit and I still see people defend them. (I love Nathan too for his complexity and ability to become better. He just needed help, but it doesn't excuse anything he did.)

Warren is the best character. He had so much potential to be an amazing recurring character, but he was their simply for plot convenience or to make the player not suspicious that Mark could be behind everything because Warren was "creepy"

I'm probably gonna have people saying I'm being a baby over this and that he's a fictional character and stuff, you can totally have your own opinion on Warren Graham, I'm not telling you you can't, just please stop calling people who like him "stalkers" or say they support stalking and creepy behavior, when that isn't true. The amount of hate towards anyone that isn't Max or Chloe, and then the immediate hate on YOU for not liking them or liking/defending another character makes me sick, as well as the flat out abelism. The reason why I left the fandom in the first place before picking it back up because of Warren<3

as someone whos got a romeo and juliet adaptation/sequel on the backburner, i have a question for you: What is your favorite part of this play? It can be themes, a scene, or a character or whatever else! Personally my favorite thing in it, at the risk of sounding cliche, are the themes of destiny and doom. I also like benvolio (totally didnt get him in ur quiz lol)

oooh!! well i mean the obvious answer for me is equally obvious i think lol

i fuckin love mercutio. so much so that even if im watching a version of r&j i don’t care for i’ll stick around at least until he dies lol

he really just cements the tragedy of it all to me. if the story were a romance he’d just be the silly best friend comic relief character, and, aside from the opening narration and a couple fights, r&j really can seem like a romance… up until mercutio dies. his death is a signifier of the tonal shift. the happy-go-lucky guy who brings romeo to a party and cracks jokes just died. you want comic relief? he’s dead.

and of course there’s the fact that he shouldn’t even be involved. he’s not a capulet or a montague. he’s related to the prince. not a part of the families. he’s a casualty. he was a friend to romeo and benvolio- two montagues- and he was invited to the capulet party! he’s how they got in! he had no enemies- he shouldn’t’ve died! hell, had romeo not come between him and tybalt, he might have lived. then romeo wouldn’t’ve killed tybalt, he wouldn’t’ve been banished, juliet wouldn’t’ve had to fake her death leading to well… everyone knows that part.

he only got into the fight to defend his friend’s honor. (well, to be fair depending on how you read the dialogue before the fight, mercutio might be pretty ready to jump into a fight for any reason lol) but still, he got into that fight because tybalt wanted to fight romeo, and he only died because romeo intervened.

what really gets me too is… no one seems to mourn him. sure, yes, romeo kills tybalt in revenge, but then immediately tybalt’s death takes priority. everyone’s freaking out about how tybalt died- tybalt is mourned. i don’t recall if mercutio is ever mentioned again. (edit: mercutio is mentioned when paris dies, romeo calls him mercutio’s kinsman, but that’s. still not much)

there’s also his iconic quote as he’s dying- a plague on both your houses. as he dies he goes out screaming about how both families are at fault, how it’s their own stubbornness that is causing all this. and if anyone listened to him, maybe things would’ve been different. but still, romeo and juliet (…and paris i guess?) have to die before anyone actually listens.

also, on a more lighthearted note, he is fucking hilarious. his whole queen mab monologue to make fun of romeo is a personal highlight, as well as his line like… quoting from memory here, “here comes romeo, without his ‘ro’ like a dried fish.” okay okay so this is when they still think romeo is into rosaline, hence the “ro” but also “roe” like fish eggs, but also meo is a word for “sigh” so he’s sad because he doesn’t have his crush with him all told with a fish pun. love this guy i aspire to be on his level

ooh, also, when a staged production (or other kind? it’s most common staged) uses red for the capulets and blue for the montagues, i love when mercutio wears purple. goes back to my earlier point about him not being either but still being friendly with both.

also speaking about very specific productions of romeo and juliet some mercutio highlights:

-in rómeó és júlia (personal fav version of mercutio) when mercutio gets stabbed, he bleeds, gets his hand covered in blood, and slaps romeo before he dies, so romeo goes through the rest of that scene wearing his friends blood and it really adds to it

-also in that version they give mercutio a rap verse that is in no other version and i think of it constantly

-he also keeps flirting with everyone and kisses both romeo and benvolio and tries to with tybalt

-i made a compilation of him in that version i never posted actually i should see if i can find it

-in the italian version of romeo et juliette mercutio kisses romeo as he dies and it’s really intense lmao

I think it’s clear she’s powerful but the moment when she survived Homelander’s blast if he was trying to kill her is something that I think is okay to question bc we don’t know how she survived it. Yes, I saw it, and I actually watched the latest episode last night. So your question comes at the right time!

Overall, I have a fairly neutral impression. I don't find it bad, nor do I find it stunning. There are some pleasant surprises and moments that let me a bit perplex regarding the narrative choices, which I will elaborate on.

First of all, I'm quite pleased with the casting. I found the actors to be convincing for most of them, especially considering they don't have long experience.

The special effects seemed a bit cheap to me compared to what the numerous trailers had led us to believe, and the lighting is rather poor. It's too obvious that it's shot in a studio. I found some of the choreography awkward, for example, during one of Azula's training sessions when she fights an earthbending prisoner and defends herself with a leaping kick. It looked like someone was throwing a panicked cat in front of them and I almost barked out laughing!

Regarding the plot, I initially enjoyed it but gradually began to doubt the decision to merge several episodes into one. The action unfolds a bit too fast to my taste and the characters passed by without us really having time to feel attached to them . It feels like Aang, Sokka, and Katara met three days ago at the end of the season, which doesn't make Katara's rapid progress very believable. I understand she's prodigious, but the fact that she becomes a master in just a few weeks thanks to a scroll and some silly and dubious advice from Jet isn't very credible.

I was a bit upset that Aang never tries to waterbend in 8 episodes, not even once, and doesn't try to encourage Katara to fight against the outdated traditions defended by Pakku, although his intentions (protecting his friends and preventing them from fighting) are understandable. They eventually gave this role to Sokka, which didn't bother me. I know many fans objected to the authors removing Sokka's sexism. That's not the only thing that changed about him. The new Sokka is imbued with much more responsibility and shows a maturity that we didn't see in the original show. Here, I say, why not? Although I sometimes miss Sokka's jokes.

I'm tired of secondary characters who seem to be there to amuse the audience while enhancing the other characters great qualities. Not that Sokka is that simplist in the cartoon but still...

Momo is ugly. As well as Appa. But I won't dwell on it. It's a matter of fact.

Aang is quite convincing but a bit too serious compared to the one we knew. However, it makes sense given his backstory.

Let's move on to my favorite part: the Fire Nation! I'm absolutely convinced by this new Iroh, and I totally share June's opinion: he's si cute. I want him to bé my uncle! I like that they accentuated his grandfatherly side and his relationship with Zuko, which is very touching. They still managed to maintain some ambiguity in him during the scene where he shows no remorse when an earthbender who captured him conducts his "trial."

I really liked all the scenes with Zuko, which respect the original character while adding more humanity to him. Making him the captain of the division he wanted to save from the general's Machiavellian plans was a good addition imo.

Zhao annoyed me much of the time, but I never liked this character who, for me, does nothing but delay Azula's appearance. Making him Azula's pawn was interesting, however, even though I sometimes found him a bit ridiculous and unbelievable and Azula's intentions seem unclear sometimes.

I am absolutely under new Ozai's charm, and it's not just about his abs (although...), but this new, more nuanced and manipulative version of the character makes me want to explore him in a whole new light and change his role a bit from what I usually assign him in my fics.

Finally, let's finish this review with my favorite of all time: Azula! I obviously love the fact she appears in the first season and the background given to her, a brilliant foreshadowing for the breakdown that inevitably awaits her. You feel the writers saw her potential as a redeemable vilain and I'm here for that. I wish there were flashbacks of her past and how her relationship with Zuko deteriorated and was once. I appreciated that she doesn't smirk when her brother is burned but her eyes shine with unshed tears insteaf. I love that we are able feel the pressure and terror Ozai inspires in her. Even though I had doubts at first, the actress plays the range of emotions that the princess experiences very well, and I think it was a good choice, even if she is physically quite different from what I imagine. (But I don't want to get into that territory).

Yet I regret that they reinforced Azula's "power-hungry" side that much, and I hope they will nuance this aspect of her character in the upcoming seasons. Especially to maintain her ambiguity and the complexity of her relationship with Zuko. Needless to say, if there isn't an adaptation of the episodes "The Beach" or "The Awakening," I'll make a scandal. Similarly, Zuko better show love and kindness towards her in the end and not be the insensitive jerk who gets rid of her without a word about the fate he reserved for her!

I liked that they didn't make Azula a simple prodigy but showed how hard she worked to get there. It was nice to have Mai and Ty Lee to convey Azula's feelings, but their role is totally static, to the point that it's a bit caricatural. Speaking about them: There's a problem with Ty Lee's costume and hairstyle, which are great for a cartoon but very unconvincing in real life! But the actress who plays Ty Lee seems perfect for the role!

So, that's my review. I'm pretty happy with what I saw, and I also think there are enough negative points to know that if something displeases me in this adaptation, I'll be able to distance myself. So, I don't feel uncomfortable.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE SERIES I'VE WRITTEN like the whole thing top to bottom bangers imo It's not yet finished, I still have to write my Eli prequel but honestly, if you love Rebels, read this! inside every open eye series! This is a fantasy Magnus Archives fic, in which Sasha steps in to take over the role of the Archivist after Jon goes missing during a ritual for the Beholding. I love a lot of the visuals from this, and I loved writing for Sasha -- plus there's a lot of fun side-stories. This one is complete! Here's tumblr post for the main fic, tiny cracks of light.

my place to land. What is UP SIGNET/ECHO NATION, ALL FIVE OF YOU! I wrote a novel for my rare pair because i am actually three bodyguard AUs in a trench coat captaining the good ship I made up. Twilight Mirage is still my favorite fatt season, because it is exactly my aesthetic and also, Signet is there. This is still one of my favorite fics, even though I can think of many things that i would change upon a rewrite. I got a lot of amazing gift art from friends when I was updating it, too, and I treasure everyone who came to read it!! It is currently still the longest fic in the fatt tag, but not for long it does look like there is someone rapidly catching up with 74k on a 6/14 chapter fic. It was fun while it lasted! Unfortunately, twitter moments went kaput so I will have to figure out some other way to put all the wonderful fanart everyone made for me!

'til my lungs burn bright. Affectionately called my "regency magic spies AU" for Ace Attorney, specifically this is for AA4/Klapollo!! This is a sequel to a fic I haven't finished yet! (Someone encourage me to finish the main fic! it's what i'm supposed to be working on this month!!) I love this setting SO much and I loved making all the little references to in-game moments. Here's the tumblr link to the fic ;) I had a hard time picking between this and my sleeping beauty klapollo au.... Also shout-outs to Joanie for doing the WONDERFUL art for it!!! (I should actually go put it in-line with the fic text too oops)

Honestly I love everything I write because I am an audience of me first. The current version of my masterpost has links out to a lot of my fics from different fandoms -- like some of my other friends at the table content and my jgm labyrinth au and my lockwood fic! That's my best piece of advice: love what you write, and write for yourself first! And then the two little freaks in your group chat second 💞 I wouldn't have been able to do most of these fics without the besties, so thank you to everyone who has read my novel-length fics.

Okay, so @br1ghtestlight made a post recently (you don’t understand how long I spent trying to find it actually losing my mind that I couldn’t) proposing an idea for a Christmas ep It’s A Wonderful Life parody centering around Teddy, and how it could even reveal how Bob and Linda met Teddy in the first place.

And I adore that idea so much. I’ve never even seen the og film, but I know people will automatically say an It’s A Wonderful Life parody is cliché, which is true, but I think that idea is lovely and could absolutely work. Also, sometimes there’s just something comforting about clichés.

That being said, I’d like to propose that same idea, but…

With Gene :D

Yup, that’s right, I have to bring everything back to Gene all over again. I can’t stop thinking about him.

It’s actually an issue.

But just imagine the absolute angst potential. And then the absolute joy when he realizes how much his family truly cares about him and does need him.

Also want this in retaliation for all of the Gene nay-sayers (looking at you, Reddit). Look, having your own opinion is valid. And if someone doesn’t like Gene for valid reasons and isn’t mean about it, that’s totally fine. He doesn’t gel with everyone.

But just saying, completely out of nowhere and unprovoked, that he adds nothing and should be killed off?? (Yes, I am never letting that go). I also saw a video just earlier tonight where someone (won’t say who for privacy’s sake) compared him to Chris Griffin?? I mean, I haven’t really seen any Family Guy, but I assume that’s not a good thing based on people’s reactions (thankfully, most people in the comments defended Gene). And, even though this was clearly meant to be a joke this still bothered me a ton, said “No one likes Gene. If you like Gene, I don’t like you. I actually dislike you as a person.”

Not the worst part, though. They also made jokes about killing off Gene and muting him and just editing him out of the video and other things like that, like COME ON. I understand if you don’t gel with him as a character and that these were all just jokes for the video, but just—those comments just made me ☹️

Anyway, I want to make that episode happen to help some people soften up towards Gene. He’s so baby he doesn’t deserve the slander 😭

I did see another reaction video where “Gene is my early favorite” was in the title, and that healed me a bit.

what r your opinions on heather…..I know she’s your favorite and I wanna know your thoughts….please yap to me about her….

Heather is my FAVOURITE character and yet I never talk about her so I’m actually gonna talk about that.

I’d argue heather is the best written character, and I’d also argue she has overall one of the best fanon interpretations. So, I never really have much to say about her

Heather is a great tdi character, and a great character overall, and in my opinion her writing might be the best we see. There’s other characters like Courtney, Alejandro and Scott who all also have great writing (for total drama at least) but all fall down somewhere. Courtney’s writing is all over the place and you really need to make some excuses to defend her, Alejandro while great in world tour definitely declines in all stars, and can’t be defended nearly as much as heather can be, and Scott is also heavily derailed in all stars.

Heather however, while I wouldn’t say she gets better every season (my personal ranking of her seasons are WT, TDI, TDA, AS) she definitely stays consistent. In island this is really gonna annoy you all but she’s a good villain and a GREAT start for tdi. you can argue Alejandro is a better villain and id probably agree, but they’re both very different. Heather is the classic mean girl her performance isn’t anything too flashy with strategy and overall she just plays the bully role. She does this great though, being so fun to hate and so annoying to love. She’s, dare I say, iconic. She has some of the funniest lines and despite all her actions being entirely selfish you can never find yourself truly hating her.

Her eventual downfall is amazing and no other villain dethronement comes close (action does a good job but is nothing on heathers). Being so vain and obsessed with her looks, and said looks being the main reason she gets away with so much, having her head shaved and losing off a technicality is absolutely perfect.

When she comes back for action, she takes the comedic side character plot instead. She’s not the main villain but isn’t the hero (yet).

Something that I will always praise heather for is her ability to work as many different roles throughout. In island she’s the main villain and threat, in action the punching bag side character while never being derailed (AS Scott take notes), in world tour she gets her redemption arc as the “hero” that takes down the villain, and in all stars she works as a good.. idk what to even call it. Minor villain? Side character? Whatever it is it works and is the best role she could’ve taken in AS (maybe with some added writing but for td standards this is fine). She never feels misplaced in any season, never feels like they’ve had to derail her character to get her to fit in a specific role and she always feels very natural in every season.

And the fans (mainly) seem to be able to appreciate this.

For the total drama fandom, everyone seems to get at least a baseline understanding of her character. Yes I’ve seen people say some wild stuff but overall I think she has one of the best fanon interpretations I’ve seen, especially for a character as popular as her.

And that’s why I don’t talk about her.

I mainly talk about things that I can critique for tdi writing, fanon interpretations that are wrong and the more unpopular things (roti defender here). I rarely gush about things I think are good because there is not much to say. I bet y’all didn’t know that tawog is my favourite show. That’s because I never talk about it because it’s just good.

Yeah heather I do have opinions and things to say about her but I never feel like I need to jump to talk about her. I’m not constantly ranting in her defence or ranting against her, I more talk about her when it comes up since there isn’t much that needs to be said.

So uh TL;DR - heather is such a good character I don’t have much to say about her. Well I do but I mainly complain about things of defend things and I have to do neither for her. If some day someone makes a hate post that causes the fandom to turn on her I’ll be there with my flag waving in the wind but until that day, she’s just a good character that I’ll occasionally talk about
