INTERESTING QUESTION. I don't think she did, because the Houses may be an absolutist theocracy but their society exists outside of the patriarchal framework within which “girl power” is defined as a concept—e.g. a social context characterised by sex-based gender discrimination.

HOWEVER. If we consider girl power in the sense of “girl (gn)” as commonly understood on tumblr dot com, meaning whatever you, the blogger, personally find interesting or lovable—e.g. “cannibalism is like a girl to me”—then Mercymorn does in fact have girl power. TO ME.

That said. She did not successfully utilise girl power when she was committing deicide, because EJG is also a girl (gn) to me. The biggest babygirl of them all. This was a case of girl-on-babygirl violence, and as much as I stan Mercy for it, I cannot condone it.

Waljas being claimed as a dominant as a tiny baby brings some concerning questions to mind. We've seen over and over that if a dominant loses their mind, they lose control of their dominant.

Here's the problem with that: young kids lose their fucking minds over anything. What happens when Waljas needs to fart but it won't come out? Or when Shula gives him the wrong cup? Or after a tiring day Shula gives him water but he wanted apple juice, even though he asked for water?

We didn't save that village. We just kicked the can down the road. The first time Shula tells him he can't eat pretty rocks, that village is going down in a tidal wave.
