I just know Harvey would fret more and more about how the farmer goes down to the mines/skull cavern and literally fights monsters. Especially the closer he gets to them, or when their dating.

Like honey what do you mean you spent your day running from dragons and fighting dinosaurs? Absurdity aside, what happened to your leg?! No, a dinosaur bite is not an acceptable answer!

The days they go he is stressed. He is fiddling with things, knees bouncing. Yes, he's sure they'll be fine, after all they have that crazy galaxy sword thing but still. He always has his first aid bag on the counter waiting just in case.

The relief he feels when they waltz back inside, covered in dirt, grinning ear to ear with all the ore they managed to get is great. But he sees those cuts and bruises that could use patching up.

They always seem to know when he's about to lecture them, because they're pulling out a bundle of Daffodils just for him before he has the chance.

Prompt: they didn't know they were dating lol

oh my GOD yes.

they're always eat each other's places. Charles has a toothbrush at Max's. Max has a drawer at Charles'.

They sleep in the same bed like half the nights of a week. when they're not together, they're texting. Charles sends Max pictures of everything that catches his eye, which is basically everything, and Max always shows the photos to whoever he's with.

"Look at the photo Charles just took," he says proudly to anybody who stops in front of him for two seconds. "Isn't he so talented?"

And it's like a slightly blurry, out of focus photo of a wilted daffodil crushed into the pavement.

and the thing is they're both going on dates with other people, but they always go badly and neither of them can figure out why, and then Pierre is like, "Well, what do you talk about on your dates?"

And Charles is like, "I don't know, just about racing and stuff?"

And Pierre says, "Hm. Does that mean you talk about Max?"

And Charles is like, "Uh, I don't know, I guess?"

And Pierre says, "And then after the date goes bad, what do you do?"

And Charles explains that he'll go back to Max's house and snuggle into bed with him - Max was waiting up, obviously, anxious and feeling sick to his stomach that this might be the time Charles likes the person, but not sure why he feels that way.

So Pierre says, "Mate, do you think maybe people are turned off because you're actually dating Max?"

Charles obviously goes into complete denial, and then he'll go back to Max's (where else would he go?) and take stock and then freak out and be like to Max, "Pierre has this insane idea that we're dating but we're not, right?"

Max immediately says that they're not, obviously, they're just two friends who are pretty close. And, "There's nothing wrong with two mates sharing a bed, Charles. So what if you haven't been to your house in a week?"

Anyway, they'd both then be a little awkward around each other for a while, because even though they agree out loud that they're not dating, secretly they're both like ... "Are we? And if we aren't ... can we be?"

It would all come to head because one of them actually does go out on date with somebody they like (lets make it Max) and then Charles is sad and anxious because Max didn't come to his apartment like he usually does after a date, and Charles feels SICK with jealousy because is Max fucking somebody else? He doesn't want Max to fuck anybody else.

So he rushes over, pounding on the door, all worked up, and then immediately launches into a tirade when Max opens the door and shoves his way in saying, "Kick the other person out, I don't want you to see them again, I want you to be with me."

And Max gently explains that he couldn't go through with it because he's already in love, and then they kiss!

Simon wasn't ready to meet Johnny's family yet. Hell, they'd only been dating five or so months before deciding to stick with each other on leave, and by that point it was far too stressful and overwhelming to think about meeting a whole bunch of new people to mask around and make good impressions. Ghost needed the time off to re-regulate, and honestly, Soap wasn't up to introducing a boyfriend he had barely warned his mother about beforehand.

So instead the two taxi'd over to Manchester from the airport, arriving at a tiny, cheap flat with even cheaper security cameras dotted on each outside wall and above the front door. "Enough of a deterrent, even if half don't work," explains Simon, seeing Johnny looking around curiously. He unlocks the door and pushes it open an inch, baited breath for a couple of moments as he appears to listen for anything unusual, before opening the door properly, flicking on the warm overhead lights and pulling Soap in by the hand, who gazes at the inside of his flat whilst Ghost locks the door again.

"Dinnae take you for an interior designer, Lt," John grins, glancing at the taller man before going back to admiring the space. It's dusty, sure, but otherwise not quite as awful as expected, and although cramped, holds a feeling of comfort and rest. The two are standing in the kitchen, cupboards naked oak wood and counters hand-painted daffodil yellow, the honey-coloured floor tiles chipped but superglued back together. The image of Si sitting cross-legged on the ground fixing them fills Soap's mind, his heart fluttering at how domestic his lieutenant suddenly seems.

There isn't a wall between the kitchen and living room, and Johnny takes that opportunity to wonder straight through, taking note of a comfy-looking secondhand sofa to cuddle up on together later. An old TV with a jumble of cables is stood upon a coffee table, which simultaneously doubles as an actual coffee table, evident by a few mismatched coasters with just as many water marks as the surface they're supposed to be protecting. Splintering wood in the tried-to-be-aesthetic bare floorboards are covered by a granny rug which contrasts the baby blue walls surprisingly well. Two doors lead off from the living room, and Ghost walks over to the first one, opening it to show the other.

"Bathroom," he comments as if it isn't obvious. There's nothing extraordinary about it, but Soap does notice his unwavering loyalty here and on base to his very specific shower products - of course. He nods and they move on, entering the fourth room. Si hovers at the doorway whilst Johnny wanders inside, taking in the bedroom.

Most of the space is taken up by a double bed pressed up in the far corner, white paint on the metal frame missing in spots, showing its age. The bedding is black with little bone prints patterning it, soft cotton and all matching. Shoved next to the bed is a chest of drawers, one of the handles missing and replaced with a nail bashed into the wood. Hung up precariously on the picture rail over it is Simon's formal uniform - clearly unused for years due to his skilful avoidance of social events. Again, the floor is stripped of carpet (the bedroom in slightly safer condition than in the living room) and the walls are painted, this time a pale pink and dotted with glow-in-the-dark plastic stars.

"Never got them as a kid," Ghost mutters, gesturing to the stars and then the general soft colours of his flat. He shuffles awkwardly on his feet, avoiding eye contact - and subsequently his boyfriend's loving smile too. "You want something to eat? I don't have anything," he adds quickly.

"We can go doon to the chippy?" John suggests, walking over to kiss him tenderly. "Or if you don't feel like seein' people, I could order us something." The taller man nods at the second option, then proceeds to wrap his arms around Soap's waist, burying his face into the crook of his neck and pressing his lips to the skin, simply savouring his warm embrace.

"I love you, Johnny. I'm happy you're here."

The next few days go by far too quick for either's liking. They're spent with long mornings just laying in bed, doing fuck all on their phones in the oddest cuddle positions known; alternatively, smothering each other in hugs and kisses until they have to give them attention until they're satisfied. Time is spent plodding around the flat, wearing pyjama trousers and fluffy socks and with blankets draped over their bare shoulders.

Meals are cooked with very little skill but a whole lot of try, so at least that's something. Neither go out much; just to the shops when they need something or one night to get fish and chips from the good place across the street. They eat sitting on the countertop or the sofa, watching some shitshow with a laugh track that winds Simon up.

Evenings involve making out during conversation, quietly murmuring and laughing between kisses, chests pressed together so their hearts can talk directly. Ghost realises he's never felt so safe and content on leave before this one night when they're lying in bed, a dim lamp the only light in the room as he runs his fingers through Soap's hair, now slightly curly from growing out whilst not on base. It's quiet, but not in the lonely, terrifying way it usually is when he's alone in the flat, left to his own thoughts for however long between deployments.

Maybe, just maybe, leave will become something that he doesn't dread anymore. And perhaps next time - he thinks, pressing a kiss to his boyfriend's forehead and flicking off the lamp - it might be nice to meet Johnny's family.

mahonia ⇢ I try to take inspiration from literally everything. So... anything you can imagine lol. Whenever inspriation hits me I just start talking out loud. Usually it becomes a line for a poem. And i just recite that line out loud over and over until i get more lines. And then repeat. Usually i end up with a couple stanzas, constantly editing and revising in my mind the entire time until it's perfect. Or, near perfect as it can get.

No, he says he believes that we become more people. We’re still the kids we were, but we’re also the people who’ve lived all the different ages since that time. And I think that's a beautiful sentiment.

looking very closely at the website neighborhood and here's some little things i noticed (plus some overthinking & flower symbolism):

~ the only butterflies on the "map" are the ones outside of Frank's house, and the single one outside of Eddie's.

~~ i think the flowers outside of Eddie's are either hyacinths or lavender. given that the flowers are different colors, they're probably hyacinths. which is a Fascinating choice to me, because hyacinths can symbolize regret, devotion (especially beyond death), love, forgiveness, and jealousy - depending on the flower color. Eddie has light blue, dark blue, and purple. The butterfly is landing on the purple one (sorrow, mourning, forgiveness, regret, devoted love).

~~ its also Fascinating because the myth behinds hyacinths is about the greek god Apollo and his (male) human lover, Hyacinthus. they were playing discus (metal frisbee). Apollo threw the discus too hard, and it bounced back and hit Hyacinthus, killing him. devastated, Apollo grew the hyacinth flower from Hyacinthus' spilled blood. SO THE FACT THAT EDDIE, GAY PUPPET EDDIE, HAS HYACINTH FLOWERS OUTSIDE THE POST OFFICE IS UM. INCH RESTING!

~~ (also also in the myth, Apollo wanted to rescind his immortality to join Hyacinthus in his death. and in an alternate version of the myth, Hyacinthus was technically murdered, because Zephyrus was jealous that Apollo preferred a mortal over him & purposefully blew the discus off course to strike Hyacinthus. things to think about. yes, in this whole myth metaphor im viewing Eddie as Hyacinthus and Frank as Apollo. do with this what you will)

~ All of the trees in the neighborhood are in the same general style, except for the tree outside of Sally's home, which is a pine tree. i wonder why!

~ the only buildings with second floors are Barnaby's, Frank's, Sally's, and Poppy's homes. rip the "wally falls down the stairs" memes

~ there's a teeny tiny Home in the post office display window

~ Julie's house has quite a lot of heart symbolism. like, a weird amount. an amount to the point where i now have an entire theory around what her role and arc might be. i Will talk about it with minimal prompting.

~ one of the swingset balloons has a happy face balloon with its eyes closed, which stands out to me (and fuels my julie theory)

~ the only neighbors who don't have flowers outside of their buildings are Sally, Julie (disregarding decoration), and Howdy.

~ Poppy has daffodils, which symbolize rebirth, new beginnings, resilience, and hope. however, they have a negative side of selfishness.

~ Barnaby has red, yellow, and blue tulips. red means undying love, admiration, and truth. yellow means "there's sunshine in your smile", joy, happiness, friendship - But it can also mean unrequited love or jealousy. Blue means individuality, trust, and good luck

~~ note that there's a dead/trampled white tulip. white tulips symbolize sorrow, "my condolences", apology, honor, purity, faith.

~ Frank has sunflowers, daisies, and some others, but those i think are more generic, unspecific flowers for added decoration. i couldn't find a "red flower on vine" that fits the general look of the ones on his house. now, sunflowers symbolize adoration, loyalty, longevity, happiness (also, might i add that these flowers are from another greek myth about apollo, this one where Apollo turns a jealous nymph into a sunflower for snitching on his mortal lover, which got her (the lover) killed. inch resting indeed.)

~~ also blue daisies, which i am assuming are the blue flowers outside his house, symbolize freedom, trust, loyalty, confidence, and honesty. lots of positivity surrounding Frank's house!

~ Wally has daisies. these symbolize innocence, purity, new beginnings, hope, and affection. it can also symbolize the ability to keep a secret. a fun fact i found interesting is the word daisy comes from an old english word meaning "day's eye."

~~ do i believe these flower choices were purposeful? maybe. probably. it does seem strange that there are specific, distinct flowers drawn in equally specific parts of the "map", while a couple of generic "cartoon" style flowers are sprinkled throughout

~ three green apples are growing on the tree next to Howdy's Place

~ it stands out to me that the bodega window above the fruit stands is completely blacked out. no window shine or nothing

~ Sally's "yard" is weirdly barren. everyone else's buildings (excluding Home) has several things decorating the surrounding area. all she has is a spotlight and a tree.

~ Barnaby's house having paint all over it (and a paintbrush & can next to it) is just cute to me. it makes me think that he wanted to paint like his lil' buddy Wally and just went ham with it. or it was a team effort between them<3

~ it took me a while to notice the tiny "Eddie's" painted above Post Office. it gives the vibe (to me) of him tacking on the "Eddie's" to make the office feel more like his. maybe he saw the sign "Howdy's Place" and decided to paint his name on his building to make himself feel more established and at home

~ there's something on / part of Frank's roof. i don't know what it is. if anyone has an idea please tell me its driving me insane. at first i thought it was a chimney but theres two? making an additional symmetrical structure? idk!!

~ there are only three buildings with straight up rainbows. Eddie's post office (hanging from the roof and in the window), Sally's house (the entire front), and Frank's house (butterfly on the door wreath. i almost didn't catch it, it's a sneaky one!)

What are some resources you would recommend for learning about npd?

Hello hello, before I link anything I want to preface that finding anything about NPD (or stigmatized disorders in general) that isn't biased or misinformation is incredibly difficult, (which if you've tried looking for stuff you've already figured that out lol). Honestly, tumblr blogs are seriously one of your best bets. When researching disorders I feel like a lot of people tend to only look at professional medical articles and the like, which yes, you should do, but it should be done alongside primary resources too - any source coming directly from someone with NPD. I see a lot of people rag on about how people are getting information from social media, but I'd say it's actually a really good place to find people talking about their own experiences, whereas sticking only to secondary sources (a source created by someone who does not have first-hand experience with what they're discussing,) especially with NPD, can end up with a really biased and one-sided view of the disorder. Anyway, that being said, I tried to link a mix of both in this post. There's quite a bit, but I'd rather that than not enough. These three links are good for looking into the symptoms of NPD:

I just wanted to ask it you're still doing the Animutant thing, I'm getting back into it now and I had a few questions

First was if me and a friend were allowed to make an OC for it, and I just wanted to ask permission, and second was what kinds of jobs could they get?

Yes, I have two slow-process on-going fics of the FNAF Animutant AU (A Not so Sunny World & My Dear Daffodil). And then I have my original Animutant story "Dreamflower" slowly in the works too, hoping to post a couple of the first chapters before the year ends!

Both, the original story and the FNAF AU are open for people's OCs! Just be mindful of the universe when designing your OCs. The universal rules for the original and FNAF version are a bit different.

If you want to make an OC to the FNAF AUs, here's a quick recap of the basic concept of Animutants:

Animutants are always created in laboratories. All Animutants are adults (with very rare exceptions).

Animutants come in 3 sentience levels: 1 is the lowest, close to a plant sentience, level 2 is like a trained animal sentience, and level 3 is human sentience.

Animutants are a mixture of different DNAs; mutated alien DNA is their base, some human DNA and various animal and plant DNAs are used to create individual-looking mutants.

Animutants don't get ill with human illnesses, and they live 10 times longer.

Animutants can work almost any job, as long as their owner is a human, or a company.

Animutants come in all mixtures of animals or creatures. All animutants are about 5'10-10' tall, but some exceptions exist (like DJMM).

Level 3 animutants have fake reproductive systems, but none of them are fertile. Female mutants have periods and wombs, but the womb is used only for surrogate pregnancies. Female mutants are more expensive to make.

Non-animal animutants are called celestials, and they're always intersex.

Animutants are treated like "robots", so technically as objects you can own and sell. Sometimes the world is very cruel to them.

If you want to make an OC for the Dreamflower original story, I'd suggest checking my other blog @pixel-chills where I answer questions relating to it. These Animutants differ from the FNAF Animutants a lot:

Animutants are mutated humans. They act and look more human-like, but might have some animal or plant genes mixed in their system, thus giving them ears, horns, tails, or weird skins.

Animutants are a small minority of humans. A person might mutate if they die, if they happen to carry the mutant gene. Most animutants are early embryos who died in the womb, but mutated and were born as an animutant.

Animutants work very similarly to humans bodily, they can get pregnant, get ill, have chromosome-based genitalia etc.

imagine my surprise when the issue started WHOLESOME!!!!!! sure it was advertised as a baby issue but STILL!!!!! i fucking love cormorantpaw playing with them and giving them the childhood he couldn’t have, it makes me so happy. and he’s happy, too!! i’m sure if he heard what cootstorm said about them, he would have thrown hands. begging for more scenes of corm babysitting/playing with the kits, even in the bg. him being this happy about the babies being happy is just. AAA!!

of course, in patfw, wholesome bits can’t last forever. daffy is in the issue at what cost !!!! i love how she just casually drops it and YES I WANTED TO SEE HER REACTION BUT IT HURTS IT HURTS SO BAD. i love how complicated it is, daffodil’s feelings and pinepaw struggling to apologize due to how neither of them did wrong.. aagh. i love this causing daffodil to realize that she kinda forced herself to love cormorantpaw due to the circumstances, and her opening up about how she really thinks about romance! i know she deserves the love she can so easily give to others, and i love how just.. the cycle is still kinda referenced in this issue? not with dustfeather, but with cashew. i never thought we’d touch a cycle of abuse other than familial but i’m really happy we did now and it makes so much sense? abuse comes in many forms, after all!

mallowstar’s struggles of being a leader and blacknose’s struggles of being a mother, aaaaa. it’s so intertwined and so different and they really need eachother. also, more cycle discussion!!! mallowstar wanting to break free is sooo important to me, everyone needs that. hopefully the green isn’t defiance territory, though.. maybe if it is, throw cootstorm as a sacrifice and run

Hey, sometimes I do wholesome issues! They're not all depressing!

Cormorantpaw is the best babysitter ever, he's great with kids. He knows how to vibe on their level, and his lack of self-consciousness means he can really get into the spirit of a game or a kid's conversation.

PATFW when they ask me for emotional weight: hey what's all this emotional weight doing here??? Haha, I'm glad you liked the section with Daff, it wasn't always something I had planned to include in this issue but it ended up being necessary to resolve. Since Daff and Slugpelt are both very romantically-inclined characters (when Slug was young, at least), they share a lot of similar worries and needs, and having those problems that her mother faced unconsciously be consciously present in Daff's head has made her do a lot of thinking.

Mallowstar and Blacknose really are so good for each other, they're so sweet,, it's fun to write their interactions because it's just totally interpersonal drama-free. Mallow's been thinking about leaving for awhile, largely buoyed by Blacknose herself (the biggest BarrenClan radical), and I can confirm that the "western border" is opposite Defiance's territory, which is past the eastern border of BarrenClan territory. Hopefully they can get out in time!

But I can't end an issue in the second half of the comic without a little Horrors. :]

Peonies

Mainly because there is just... so much flower per flower packed into those buds. Look at them. (Downside: ants also love them so they're hard to bring inside.)

Lobelia

Partly for childhood associations (my mom has gotten blue ones and white ones almost every summer of my life) but also they're so little and blue. (A flower worthy of Lobelia Sackville-Baggins.)

Alstroemeria aka Peruvian lilies

My experience is you can find these in every assorted bouquet at the grocery store, but that's for a reason. They're pretty.

They're little mini petunias in a variety of bright colors and they make me happy. :)

He pulled it up handful-by-handful in small tufts, offering it to Cordelia as though unformed grass and occasional weeds were a gift fit for a queen. She took them, because if she rejected them...

"He's a little hellion, is what he is," Alastair said, sputtering as Zachary threw grass at his face. "Do remind me why he is so kind to you while he chucks that wretched stuff at me, handful by handful. Have I committed some perceived offense?"

Cordelia whacked her older brother lightly. "I think he is simply expressing his affection for each of us differently."

"You, the queen," Alastair said grumpily, but there was humor behind his tone. "Me, the servant forced to collect and store grass for him."

"Well, he seems to have moved onto flowers now," Cordelia said. "Perhaps you could weave yourself a crown, as you did for me when we were children? No one could argue that you were anything but regal then."

Alastair glared at her pointedly. "I am not wearing a crown made from daffodils, Layla. And even if I were..." He trailed off.

Cordelia turned toward Zachary, following Alastair's gaze. He did not seem inclined to chuck the blooms unceremoniously at Alastair; instead, he stuffed three daffodils into his mouth, chewing thoughtfully.

"Zachary," Alastair chided in a sugar-sweet voice that Cordelia privately planned to mock later. "Do not eat the flowers. They cannot taste good."

"Good," Zachary repeated. "Eat."

"What makes them good?" Cordelia asked, and Alastair glared daggers at her.

"Yum," Zachary said, and Alastair reached out and removed the flowers from his brother's mouth.

"Suppose I take your 'yum' argument as a given," Alastair said, waving the flowers toward Zachary. "These still are not food. They're likely toxic. Bad for the digestion. Not, as you say, good."

Zachary giggled and picked another flower, which Alastair reached out and took.

"I have rather a better idea," Alastair said. "Pick these and hand them off to me kindly, and I will make you a flower-crown. Would you like a flower-crown?"

Cordelia turned to Zachary. "Dadash makes the best flower crowns," she told him. "You ought to seriously consider his offer."

She was sure that Zachary did not understand a great deal of their conversation, but he smiled. "Yes," he said. "Flower crown. Like a hat."

Alastair sighed. "Like a hat," he agreed. "Of course, he thinks that."

And, as Zachary giggled again and threw himself into Cordelia's skirts, Alastair began to weave.
