Ask The Party God - Timeline
the pre-terezi-gang timeline post is here
height references over here
Tumblr media
hi, im jade! everyones favorite party goddess and trans doggy girl~ but you already know that! if youre reading this, it means youre interested in learning more about my reality, because paradox space is fucking weird like that and you cant really be sure all the time
as far as im aware, everything up to the point where we beat the game happened without deviations from the alpha timeline? so this is what rose has talked about as a ‘terminal timeline’, or ‘post-canon’, or whatever the hell that is supposed to mean
we got to earth-c, and i settled in the troll kingdom because trolls are cool, dave and karkat were in the neighborhood, and the caverns are close by so i can visit rose and kanaya speedily as well! i still do have my old tower out on an island, with my workshop and garden, but i almost never sleep in it, too far away and isolated from everyone...
then one day i found this old active server in the furthest ring keeping tumblr active and i thought, hey, why not have some fun? ;D
as for the others...
Tumblr media
my darling sis june egbert! she lives in the consort kingdom, but has been thinking about relocating elsewhere lately! she went through a rough patch right after the game, unsure of what to do and full of all sorts of doubts and questions, but shes doing a lot better nowadays! specially now that terezi is back, shes been a lot more peppy and hanging around with the lalondes particularly!
Tumblr media
rose rose rose rose~ happily married to her wife kanaya, duh, but that doesnt make her any less of a flirty cutie! a while back she got really sick for a bit, and weve been keeping an eye on her just in case it happened again, but its been all good ever since! she helps kanaya at the caverns a bunch, which makes her schedule busy busy... and you didnt hear this from me, buuuut words out on the street that she and kanaya may be warming to the idea of having a kid! <3 well see how that goes!
Tumblr media
one cool dude~ daves a little bit of a shut-in honestly! and honestly i dont blame him? he must be tired after all the timeline and time travel shenanigans, so he spends a good chunk of his time hanging out in his and karkats house! hes kind of awkward about opening up with feelings and stuff, and ive been trying to nudge him to be more open for a while! but with all the craziness thats been going down lately, and more people coming and going and getting together, hes starting to consider things he hadnt before~ hopefully, some specific someones? ;)
Tumblr media
janey! my uh... ecto-mom, technically, although we see each other more like cousins than anything else! she still owns crockercorp, but ever since jasprose has been around, she has been spending a lot more time at home and just hanging out with her friends, which really, sounds a lot healthier than the big business thing she had going on a while back! she enjoys teaching me baking stuff, but doesnt have much patience for my decorating skills ;p
Tumblr media
grandpa! and grandson technically, hehe, jakes kind of a weird case, hes a mixture of a shut-in, a celebrity and an adventurer! he can spend up to weeks at a time without leaving his manor, but then hell have full weeks of interviews and hiking, and thats not to say anything of when he and dirk put out another episode or two of their dumb comedy talkshow... hes often busy with stuff, but hes still a good pal and can clear his schedule in seconds if we need him for something!
Tumblr media
one sweet nb dude! rox really is... something else, really! fun to tag along at a party, fun to chill at home playing games, fun to talk about more serious stuff and open up with him, he really is just solid as they come! hes been hanging out a lot more with june since she got out of her depressive slump, but sometimes i wonder if junebug finds weird to get flirty with roxy, considering im pretty sure we made out in front of her at some point or two... hehehe
Tumblr media
dirk! if daves a bit of a shut-in, hes a shut-in times two, which is weird because youd think someone stuck in post-apocalyptic earth for so long would want to hang out more? not to say he DOESNT, though! hes around jake often enough, and keeps close to jane, roxy and dave specially! we dont see each other too often, but we HAVE been messing around with robots and planning out to upgrade our respective self-bots for funsies!
Tumblr media
aradia! we only met briefly in dreams for the longest time, but i knew already that she was a riot! she came with terezis group after she finally found vriska, and seems pretty happy just... kind of... being around and watching shenanigans ensue! i actually dont know where she lives, but she drops by occasionally, because im apparently pretty ‘fun’... cant say i disagree ;)
Tumblr media
sollux is blind, and not dead, and WILL kick you in the shins if you keep prying about how exactly he ended up like that, which is fair enough! he spends a good chunk of his time with aradia, and im not sure if theyre dating or not...? but hes been around the other trolls a bunch! specially kanaya, apparently theyre good friends that go way back! i guess they both DO style their hair similarly, with the side spike thingies...
Tumblr media
the other half of the dave-kat duo! swooooon~ really though, i cant remember the last time i said “dave” or “karkat” without talking about the other shortly after... buuut theyre just roomies, and hell get awkward and grumpy if you even so slightly IMPLY otherwise, despite the fact everyone knows they fall asleep leaning against each other during friday movie night! roooolling my eyes~ with the rest of the living trolls having arrived, hes been a lot more willing to go outside, which im glad for! its healthy to get some fresh air from time to time, and specially hang out with friends!
Tumblr media
oh-la-la, miss maryam-lalonde herself! kanayas the matriarch of the caverns, and quite the busy gal, having taken it upon herself to supervise her entire species reproduction and well-being... in my opinion, she needs a good vacation from time to time, and to be less of a workaholic! >:o ive been helping her occasionally in the caverns, and as of late weve begun trying to mess around with ectobiology for some troll-human crossing experiments with... not good results so far... but hey, rome wasnt built in a day!
Tumblr media
terezis back, yes! after spending YEARS out there looking for vriska, she managed to find her and come back, the madwoman! personally im not sure why anyone would go to such lengths for... her... but also, its not my bond, not my place to speak, she obviously really loves her a bunch! with vriska no longer lost in the middle of the furthest ring, shes started to catch up with everything going on with earth-c, and i think shes really going to like being around! specially with how much june and the rest have missed her ;)
Tumblr media
troublemaker extraordinaire herself! shes... well, shes vriska, im pretty sure she stole that eyepatch from sollux? so you just know she up to no good already >:/ speaking of her eyepatch, im not sure WHY shes wearing it? whatever kinda wound she got, she doesnt like mentioning it, despite bragging about defeating english at every chance she gets! terezi says they found her popping in and out of consciousness in the furthest ring with some messy wounds, and that shed probably been hovering out there after the fight for years... doesnt seem to have humbled her in the slightest <.<
Tumblr media
callieeeee! theyre super sweet and wonderful but also really shy and awkward! they live with roxy but manage to outdo dirk in terms of shut-in-ness... they also totally like roxy but is unsure about approaching those feelings considering the whole species thing and whatever, ive been trying to get them to open up for a while now! weve written fanfic together and drawn grids, so i can definitely tell theres some attraction there, even if theyre afraid of acting upon it just yet <3
Tumblr media
jaspie is roses bane, and the one cat that made me get used to their smell enough that i dont bark at them instantly anymore! im pretty sure she crashes at janes often, and is just as outgoing and flirty as i am around earth-c parties and bars, which is saying something honestly! i wont let her dethrone me as the party god, though >:)
Tumblr media
and finally davepeta! theyre staying with june for the time being until they can get settled around and see what they want to do here! theyve also dropped by dave and karkats a bunch, which i most certainly dont mind! i definitely appreciate some help in bringing a romantic vibe into those twos lives~ ;o
and thats about it! theres also the nannasprites and tavrosprite and arquius, but they pop by so sporadically and rarely that i dont know what theyre doing a majority of the time... we lost track of gamzee after the session so hopefully hes totally gone, and we havent heard any message from caliborn in years... and with the furthest ring broken and the black hole sealed, leaving a weird white empty space right in the middle of reality, im not sure what our chances of bringing back the other trolls are :( but still, we keep living on happily over here and having our fun slice of life ending together!
id say after everything weve gone through, we deserve a big break, dont we? hehehe <3
also, particularly important events that happen and are recorded in this blog will be tagged as timeline shenanigans!

I Have Finally Found Peace With The Rise of Skywalker
And it's all thanks to my crazy, wonderful, just-as-obsessed-with-Star-Wars-as-I-am best friends.
But before I tell you how we did it, I have to give you guys two rather important warnings concerning this post.
First and foremost, please beware that there will be MAJOR SPOILERS for The Rise of Skywalker in this post. If you haven't seen the movie, proceed at your own risk, and don't say I didn't warn you.
Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, this post is quite critical of the movie. I examine in detail everything I thought was bad about The Rise of Skywalker, and give my opinion on how it could have been done better.
But that doesn't mean this is a negative post - in fact, I hope to achieve quite the opposite. With the help of my friends, I realised that the best way to make your peace with The Rise of Skywalker is to talk through it and play Teacher With A Red Pen on the parts you didn't like.
I have to warn you that I tend to get a little carried away playing Teacher With A Red Pen. There's just so much to say about this movie... But if you're up to reading an insanely long post, I really think it'll be worth your while.
Now, since this is a free era, we are all entitled to our own opinions, and this is mine. You are perfectly welcome to disagree with me, just please do it politely. And with that out of the way, let's jump right in, shall we?
First Things First: Ben Solo's Death
I think one of the biggest WHY??? moments in the entire movie was Ben Solo's sacrifice and death. I'll say it now - I hated that twist, absolutely hated it. And not just because I'm a huge fan of Reylo, either.
To start, it's predictable, the exact mirror of the Darth Vader sacrifice/death scene from Return of the Jedi. And while it worked for Darth Vader, doing it again with Ben was not only cliché and repetitive, but also a slap in the face to the character.
Because Ben Solo deserved better. He really, really did.
Kylo Ren/Ben Solo was from the start a very conflicted character - the son of two of the galaxy's greatest heroes, and the nephew of the last Jedi, manipulated from birth by Emperor Palpatine. Yes, he did terrible things, but he also had terrible things done to him. At the very least, he deserved the chance to atone for some of those terrible things.
While we're talking about slaps in the face, Ben dying made the deaths of Han, Luke and Leia mean so much less. All three of those people gave their lives so that their son (nephew, in Luke's case) would turn back to the light. Especially Leia - she literally used the last of her energy to reach out to her son and turn him back. Killing Ben off makes her sacrifice almost meaningless - didn't she die so he would be able to live a better life?
And my last point about the Massive Unfairness of Ben's Death has to do with Rey. She and Ben love each other, don't they? They are literally described as "two of us who are one" - which is about as close as we're going to get to soulmates in Star Wars. With Ben's death, Rey lost half of who she is - not to mention the man she loved.
George Lucas once said, and I quote, that "I have always hated that in movies, when you go along and one of the main characters gets killed. This is a fairytale. You want everybody to live happily ever after and nothing bad happens to anybody."
So yes, maybe it's not the most perfect of arguments, but this is Star Wars. And after all these years of love and admiration, we all deserve that happy ending.
And While We're At It: Ben Deserved A Proper Redemption Arc
I know I've just spent a long time ranting about why Ben deserved better, but I'm not quite done yet. Because yes, Ben absolutely deserved better - and most of all, he deserved a proper redemption.
Now, I don't know how many of you have seen Avatar The Last Airbender, but that show contains a prime example of a really good redemption arc. It's not simple, and it's not at all easy, but it's worth it.
In ATLA, Fire Prince Zuko starts off as the villain of the series, but ends up seeing that the way he was raised was wrong. He decides to make amends by joining his former enemy, Avatar Aang, and helping him save the world.
But what makes it really good is that it's not easy for Zuko. He struggles, he genuinely does, and he has to really work to earn the trust of the people who used to be his enemies. And time-consuming and difficult as it was, it ultimately ended up being worth it a thousand times over.
That, my friends, is a redemption arc. It takes time, and work, and real atonement. More than anything, I wanted to see that for Ben. I wanted him to struggle, and be distrusted, and hate himself, because that is the only way he can really redeem himself - by rising above all that and saying, "I was wrong, I'm sorry, and I'll take whatever punishment you want to give me, because I really want to change."
Death is taking the easy way out - in fact, it's lazy writing. Ben didn't have to die - his whole story, which is already so defined by struggle and conflict, would have been far more meaningful if he had had a final struggle, this time to prove that he really had changed.
Unfortunately, the writers chose to take the cliché easy way out, killing off the character instead of giving him a much deeper, more meaningful ending.
If there was one thing - just one thing - I could change about The Rise of Skywalker, it would be that. I would give Ben the chance to properly redeem himself, because he really, truly deserves it.
Moving On: Rose Tico
With the Ben arc out of the way, I can move on to the next biggest issue I had with The Rise of Skywalker - and that's the horrible sidelining of one of my favourite characters from The Last Jedi, Rose Tico.
Now, I get that not everyone liked Rose's character - and that's fine. But there was no reason - none at all - for basically removing Rose, who played quite a significant role in The Last Jedi, from the new movie. Additionally, given all the racist and sexist harassment that Kelly Marie Tran suffered at the hands of malcontent fans, cutting Rose from the film almost seems like caving to those trolls.
And that is not acceptable. If you let a bully have his way, stopping him becomes near impossible. So even if it was just to show the trolls that bullying will not get you what you want, Rose Tico deserved a bigger role.
What bigger role, you may ask? Many people have said, and I grudgingly agree, that there wasn't really space for Rose to go along on the whole wayfinder quest. All right, fine. But sidelining her completely is not the right course of action. If you can't take her along on the main quest, then give her a significant sub-plot, for example joining Lando to call for aid for the Resistance.
Remember, Rose Tico was the person who turned Finn from an ex-stormtrooper more than ready to desert the Resistance into a loyal fighter for the cause he believes in - to such an extent that he was willing to sacrifice his own life for the survival of the Resistance. If there's anyone who could give the galaxy enough hope again to send help to the Resistance, it's Rose Tico.
Oh, and some more Finnrose would have been nice. You don't have to agree with me - I know many of you don't - but you have to admit that Finn and Rose definitely had some sort of a bond forged in The Last Jedi, even if it was just a platonic one. Basically ignoring that like they did in The Rise of Skywalker is just bad writing.
So I'm not saying that Rose needed to be the main star of the show - that would have been unrealistic, after all. But I do think, and I will stand by this opinion no matter what, that Rose deserved a lot better than what she got.
And On That Track: Jannah Was An Unnecessary Character
Don't get me wrong, I love Naomi Ackie, and I appreciate that Star Wars is trying to incorporate a more diverse cast. But despite it all, I just couldn't bring myself to like Jannah's character, or see why she was actually necessary.
See, if you take out Jannah, nothing much changes. Yes, it was nice for Finn to have someone to talk and relate to, but it wasn't necessary. We already know that Finn was a stormtrooper, just like we already know he left it behind him.
Also, Finn already had a female character he had a significant bond to - none other than Rose Tico from my previous rant. Why force in an all-new potential love interest at the last minute when you already have one with far more development? Not only could Rose have conceivably replaced Jannah in pretty much every scene, she also has a lot more development and history with Finn than Jannah does, which would have made their interactions that much more meaningful.
And as for the attack on Pryde's Destroyer with the Orbaks (and no, I didn't know that's what those cow things were called, either, until I Googled it a few seconds ago) - that was a nice touch, but there's a simple way it could have been much better. Instead of introducing an all-new character and cow things with a name no-one knew unless they looked it up on Wookieepedia, bring back the fathiers from Canto Bight and that little Force-sensitive kid with the broom from The Last Jedi.
At this point, some of you may be wondering why I'm not attacking Zorii Bliss as well - isn't she also a brand-new character with very little real development? The answer to that is yes, she is, but she gives Poe Dameron some much-needed backstory. If you cut Zorii, Poe has no significant backstory, which means that she was actually important to the plot. (Also, Keri Russell is awesome, and has stunning eyes. Enough said.)
So I'm sorry, Naomi Ackie, but I really wish that Jannah <i>wasn't</i> in The Rise of Skywalker. She's just there for too short to have any real development, and I'd rather use the time I gain from cutting her to focus on Rose and the actual plot.
While I'm Talking About The Plot: What On Earth Happened? Is Star Wars A Video Game, Now?
Ah, yes. Another big issue with The Rise of Skywalker is its rather disappointing lack of actual plot.
I'm sure some of you are frowning quite heavily at me right now, so let me backtrack a little and explain.
Upon first watching, The Rise of Skywalker seems like quite a good movie, really. (Except the ending, of course - but We Do Not Talk About The Ending.) It's only when you re-watch the movie that you realise that there is, in fact, very little really significant plot there.
To put it simply, a large part of the movie is a group of characters going to a Place to find a Thing that will help them find another Thing that will take them to another Place where they will save the world. Does this sound like a video game to anyone?
The thing with this kind of plot is that it works well the first time, when you don't know what's going to happen, and when the lack of plot can be hidden by dramatic explosions and cool fight scenes. Oh, and flying stormtroopers.
This is Star Wars, so there just has to be some explosions, as well as a quest of some kind. I don't deny that. But when said quest and explosions fill the story to such a degree that they become the plot, you're in cinematic trouble.
This is pretty much proven when you re-watch The Rise of Skywalker. Where the heroic quest and explosions and jetpack-sporting stormtroopers had you at the edge of your seat last time, now that you know what's coming, you start to see that very little actually happens in these scenes. Sure, they look cool, but they don't really affect the overall movement of the story in a significant way.
And that's a problem, given that most of the movie consists of scenes like these, or exposition. There are precious few scenes in which two or more characters have meaningful development in a way that will continue to affect them and the plot. This, unfortunately, means that the movie falls flat a bit when you watch it for the second time.
How would I change this?
Well, for starters, I would focus less on the actual hunt for the dagger and the wayfinder and whatever and more on the characters. How do they feel? Why do they feel it? And most importantly, how does this affect what happens to the rest of the characters and the plot?
Also, like I said before, more attention has to be given to a) Ben's redemption and b) an interesting sub-plot for Rose. And you know what? The lightsaber fight scenes could have been a lot cooler, as well.
Some More Complaining About The Plot: This Time, It's Plot Holes
Where to start, where to start. All movies have a plot hole of some kind, it's only natural, but The Rise of Skywalker is simply riddled with them.
Of course, this can be attributed to the lack of plot as explained in the previous rant. Since there is so little time spent actually developing the plot, it just stands to reason that said plot isn't the most watertight.
It's sort of spectacular, though, how quickly the first plot hole pops up. It must be just five minutes into the script - you guessed it, on Exegol.
Not only was the Emperor's resurrection never properly explained, but we also have about a thousand creepy Sith guys who are just suddenly there when needed for plot purposes. Who are they? Where did they come from? How did we not know about them before?
The Rise of Skywalker doesn't even try to answer any of these questions. It just gets glossed over in a classic example of How To Write A Glaring Plot Hole.
And while we're talking about Palpatine, let's take a look at his lackey-in-chief, Allegiant General Pryde, who oh-so-dramatically declares that he serves Palpatine "as I served you in the old wars."
Wait a minute. The old wars? As in the Return of the Jedi wars? Well then why on earth haven't we heard of Pryde before?
Sure, maybe he wasn't a major enough character to show in the original trilogy. But if he was such a faithful servant of Palpatine's, shouldn't he at least have made some kind of cameo in The Last Jedi or The Force Awakens? That would also have been some nice foreshadowing for the Emperor's return.
Also, when and how did Rey fix Anakin's lightsaber? As I recall, at the end of The Last Jedi, it snapped in half. But when we skip to Rey in The Rise of Skywalker, it's perfectly whole again, with not a hint of explanation on the horizon.
Yes, maybe this isn't the biggest plot hole, but it's annoying. At least just have someone mention in passing "Oh well done Rey, you finished fixing the lightsaber" so it's not quite so out of the blue.
And there's more. When Rey and Kylo have their big fight on Kef Bir, Rey quite clearly takes Kylo's TIE fighter. Since the Falcon most definitely did not stop by for him, how did Ben get off Kef Bir?
This is never explained. He just pitches up on Exegol, and immediately starts fighting the Knights of Ren so you forget about wondering how he got there in the first place.
Can I just say the Knights of Ren were a disappointment? I was hoping for a lot more... anything, actually. They did pretty much nothing except look menacing for the entirety of the movie, unless you count getting thoroughly beaten by Ben on Exegol.
I've probably missed another plot hole or seven, but I think I've had enough for the moment. You can only pull faces for so long, after all. I'm moving on.
Last Thing: Too Much Fan Service
Picking up from where I left off - bad plot - I'll start by breaking a few hearts and saying that I thought Chewie should have died.
Wait, wait, don't run away screaming "Traitor!" like that! Dead Chewie would have been absolutely heart-breaking, I know, but it would have made for a really good plot point.
Rey thought she killed Chewie, and that quite understandably broke her heart. But then she finds out, oh no, wait, he's actually alive, there was another transport in the desert, ha ha, don't worry, fans.
While that satisfies fans, looking at it critically, it would have been better to really kill Chewie. Very sad, yes, but better.
Let me explain. If Rey killed Chewie, really killed him, she would have been devastated. Being Rey, she probably would have isolated herself so she wouldn't accidentally hurt anyone else. She would have grieved, and her friends would have had to really work to comfort her and get her to trust herself again. This experience would have left Rey that much sadder and wiser, but stronger because of it.
This can be summed up quite simply: sad moments make the happy moments mean that much more.
But unfortunately for Rey's character development, Chewie is not really dead. The fans might be happy that they didn't lose a beloved character, but what they don't realise is that they lost a significant character progression instead.
And, sadly, this is not the only spot where the movie indulges its fans rather than a deeper plot.
For example, Rey buries Luke and Leia's lightsabers on Tattooine, and we fans get a warm tingly feeling in our stomachs because yay, we've come full circle.
But have we?
Tattooine holds nothing but bad memories for the Skywalker twins - Luke spent his entire life trying to get off the planet, and that homestead holds only bad memories for him. Easy as it is to forget, the last time Luke saw that homestead was when his aunt and uncle had been brutally murdered there. I somehow can't imagine that's where he would want his lightsaber buried - that's the equivalent of burying Harry Potter's wand at Number Four Privet Drive, for crying out loud.
The same can be said for Leia. Her one experience of Tattooine was the infamous gold bikini scene with Jabba the Hutt - totally the place where she'd want to have her lightsaber, her legacy, buried, hmm?
My conclusion is that the "hopeful and uplifting" Tattooine ending scene is really only that way if you don't think too hard about it. Pure fan service, in other words.
Which is sad, if you consider the ending we could have had. We could have had Rey burying the lightsabers on Naboo, because that's where her grandfather came from, to symbolise that she really was leaving the past behind.
And if you have to be fan service-y, at least do it in the right way. Give Rey and Ben their happy ending, because as George Lucas puts it, having the boy and the girl walk into the sunset hand-in-hand adds ten million to the box office. (And a sunset across Naboo's seas would look very pretty, wouldn't it?)
In Conclusion: TROS Being So Bad Is Actually A Good Thing, Because Now We Get To Fix It The Way We Want
Take a moment to consider that. If The Rise of Skywalker was so bad that we no longer consider it canon, well, that means we can invent our own canon, doesn't it?
This is how I made my peace with The Rise of Skywalker - by accepting that the movie Disney gave us needed some severe changes, and applying them in my head. You won't believe how much better I feel now that I have "my" version of The Rise of Skywalker accepted as canon in my head.
That's my message to you all: if TROS has upset you as much as it did me, don't try to deny it to yourself. Gather a group of good friends around you and have a The Rise of Skywalker fix-it session, and talk it out until you've made the movie into what you want to see.
We are the fans, my friends, and we deserve the movie that we want to see. So get out there and make it for yourselves!

( charlie rowe, trans male, he/him, fire emblem: awakening ) * &. i know it must be scary for you, owain, after surviving the takeover. to turn into someone like owen faulk, a twenty-three year-old clerk at the hq, right here in castle town. just remember that you are as imaginative as you are impulsive, and to be wary, be safe, be true to who you are : heroic through and through. ( (H)O(Y)-(LIA) THERE )
HOY THERE. Sup guys so I’m here with . . . the closest Fire Emblem has ever written to an actual LARPer who is ALSO my baby boy , fucking love of my life , favorite weirdo 10/10. Click for more under the cut , but beware of spoilers for Fire Emblem: Awakening !!
Tumblr media
BEFORE CASTLE TOWN. / O W A I N. ( tw: parental death )
SOOOO OKAY. let me get some stuff out of the way ,
- - - UNDERNEATH THIS BOY CONSISTS OF SPOILERS FOR FIRE EMBLEM: AWAKENING ( and kind of Fates ) . A MARKER WILL BE SET TO INDICATE SPOILERS ARE OVER. READER DISCRETION IS ADVISED.
Soooo’kay Owain !! Now Owain. Owain has the exact same circumstance as Lucina , who I recently dropped if you remember her.
Not too familiar still ?? That’s fine !! He’s basically the future child of one of the heroes of the story , and like the rest of them , traveled through time as his future was a ruined land where chaos took over and zombies and evil dragons and . . . yeah. In his time , his parents are long dead. It’s not pretty.
Now who are his parents ?? Well his dad is determined by the player - I won’t clarify who his father is for plot reasons ( but my favorite candidates are Gaius & Lon’qu ) , but his mother is LISSA. Lissa , yes , your first cleric in the game , one of your starter heroes , and Chrom’s little sister. So this makes Owain Ylissean royalty of sorts ( his mother’s a princess ) , and also Chrom’s nephew , and Lucina’s cousin.
Of course , you find out that all of the children got separated as they traveled through time - some like Laurent , who were displaced five years earlier than when you find him. Owain didn’t have a scenario like that , but this poor baby actually curled up into a ball and cried upon realizing he was alone. My POOR FUCKING SON -
An interesting fact is that he bears the brand of the Exalt - a thing of the Ylissean royal family that surfaces on the skin of each member - while his mother’s actually never surfaced. He has it on his arm ( isn’t clarified exactly where , but I like to think it’s on the back of his hand. )
SOOOO lemme just get this one out of the way because I feel like I need to address it - because the way Awakening works , Owain is one of the many characters who - thanks to the fact that every child unit save for Lucina inherits their dependent parent’s ( in this case , his father’s ) hair color , his hair color and be... literally anything. Now in Fates his hair’s blonde ( because Lissa’s is ) BUT ... I prefer Owain with dark hair so I simply said fuck it and went with that. Technically either Frederick , Kellam , Lon’qu , or even Stahl ( closely in a way ) could give him that sorta hair color but just because I made him have dark hair doesn’t mean his dad’s any of these dudes. Again , I won’t clarify.
ALSO . . . I’m not. SURE on what I want to do for Fates because Owain actually does appear in Fates ( as a dark mage named Odin working under Prince Leo of Nohr ) but I’m not. Big on some parts of Fates but ALSO I . . . I REALLY LIKE HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH LEO & NILES so I guess I’ll be including that but not Ophelia since. As much as I love her it’s so hard to picture Owain as a dad with this kind of plot. He’s still Baby in my eyes.
AKA bring me a fucking Leo.
- - END OF MAJOR FIRE EMBLEM: AWAKENING ( and kind of Fates? ) SPOILERS.
SO YEAH THE MOST INTERESTING THING ABOUT OWAIN is . . . well , remembering when I said he’s basically a LARPer ?? I wasn’t kidding.
A good chunk of his character is that most of the time he actually acts like a character from an old hero’s legend or something. He speaks in this overly theatrical Ye Olde kind of . . . dialect ?? I’m not sure if that’s the right way to put it but he basically puts on a show 90% of the time - but he also breaks character quite a few times in game.
( SPOILER WARNING )  Like when you recruit him with Chrom : “By the gods old and new! Another future traveler?! And yet, impossible, for I saw none like him in the light... Who are you, villain?! Speak now!” “Um, I'm Chrom. ...Of Ylisse? I have no quarrel with you, but if we must fight, then-” “UNCLE CHROM?!”
That is singlehandedly one of the best conversations in-game and it’s not even a support.
BUT YEAH he loves stories like these and always wanted to be that legendary hero so he goes around acting like it because he likes it and it’s so fucking pure.
One thing he has is his “sword hand” - it’s purely a theatrical thing , but he has this uncontrollable “sword hand” that thirsts for duel and battle and it’s why I almost made his url “svvordhvnd” but that was too obvious for Owain.
It’s changes to “aching blood” in Fates but that’s not as good as my opinion since in Awakening’s one of his voice lines is literally “My sword hand twitches.”
Lucina describes him as “colorful.” She’s not wrong.
He also has a habit of naming his weapons and attacks and . . . shouting when he performs them ?? He also names these weapons & attacks after actual Fire Emblem characters & titles from previous games - it’s fucking funny.
And of COURSE all of these theatrics and imagination isn’t for naught since he’s actually a bit of a writer !! In his Hot Spring Scramble conversation with Laurent he actually has a manuscript all written down and apparently it’s well-written and damn good.
But yeah in a nutshell - Owain is just a nerdy sweetheart who honestly never really grew out of playing pretend and it helps him cope with all the shit he’s faced so ?? Are we gonna blame him ?? Fuck no that’s my baby & he’s a creative baby who drinks respect women juice. That’s important.
Tumblr media
AFTER CASTLE TOWN. / O W E N.
SO. Owain survived the takeover meaning he has all of his memories from Awakening ( and Fates w/ the exception of Ophelia I guess since I’m a sucker for Leo’s terrible trio ).
His one token is a staff from his mother ( in-game , he actually keeps a piece of one of his mother’s staves that he named after her but this time it’s The Actual Staff. )
He works at the HQ because honestly in this world too he was a fucking nerd and he embraces that shit constantly !!
Unfortunately he CAN’T be all theatrical because he realized Castle Town is a way different world than his and because people already thought he was strange back there , that’d only increased tenfold.
. . . BUT HE STILL GETS IT OUT SINCE HE REGULARLY PLAYS D&D and also acts sometimes at the theatre !! ( did u know in the future past dlc he actually becomes a performer w/ inigo and brady in the end it’s Fun )
. . . He. He Also. Performs at children’s parties for some extra cash because they looooove his whole “legendary hero” schtick and it makes him happy so yeah there’s that too.
He likes a lot of things about Castle Town but again when he woke up and realized he was all alone AGAIN he really didn’t react well and basically . . . it was like the first time he got separated from his allies again. He’s gotten way more used to it now , but in the very beginning it was harsh.
His name’s now Owen bc I’m uncreative : )
He has parents he doesn’t really talk to - mainly because he knows they’re fake , and also they apparently weren’t the best fake parents either so he’s more dead set on finding his real parents again.
AND.... yeah that it that’s !! Honestly it on my boy. I’d love to plot with u all bc I plan on being awake a bit longer to finish up tasks and things so YEAH come 4 me.
Also bi as hell bc I do love projecting & also there’s no way Owain is straight thank u

Lanque...why?
I wanna start off by saying three (3) things.
1. I am feeling much better now.
2. A few months ago, back in July maybe, I had a dream that I was still in high school (yikes!) and I had just moved to a new school (double yikes!) and Lanque went there for some reason and he was also the only troll there. Anyway he was very nice but all his friends called him “fingers in his ass Lanque.” Not kidding about this dream btw! Anyway I just wanna say r.i.p. to that perception of Lanque.
3. I wanna give a shout out to Diemen “I love putting drugs on my wiener” Xicali
This is gonna be an incredibly long post so I’m putting the rest under a cut.
So where do I even fucking begin.
I’ll start with Lanque’s life as a character, not his life within the canon of Hiveswap.
As we all know, Lanque’s design was leaked long before his official appearance in the trollcall. A lot of people thought he was a butch lesbian mostly because of his resemblance to Sailor Uranus who was a lesbian in the original Japanese dub of Sailor Moon and apparently he looked like a character from Utena but idk anything about Utena.
As we all know after Lanque’s official debut he was revealed to be a transgender man by infamous incest-shipping shithead Cohen Edenfield, (and one other person who idk anything about so I’m leaving them out of this) who also wrote Hiveswap and may I remind everyone that Dammek and Xefros’ relationship was marketed as wholesome and sincerely friendly and later it was revealed to be abusive. All I’m saying is that there’s a pattern here!
Need I also remind everyone* that after Cohen revealed that he shipped incest it provoked a trauma episode in someone who was formerly a big name homestuck blogger on here and they had to leave the site for months for their own safety. Shit like this does affect people, it’s almost 2019 and we should all have the mind to think about how our words and actions affect others.
Now I’m not trans so I’m not gonna speak too much on this but personally I don’t think they intended for Lanque to be trans but rather what happened was they seen that the transmale community latched onto him and confirmed him as trans because of that. After all the friendsims have been taking cues from the fans (Galora becoming canon is a major example along with Amisia and Chahut being friends). It feels like a mean spirited trick and I can only imagine how shitty it felt for transgender men and boys who were hoping Lanque would be an actually decent person.
Onto the “good” route.
I don’t even consider this route to be Lanque’s route. It’s a sequel to Lynera’s route. I don’t mind this because I’m always happy to see Lynera but wow I wish I had seen her under better circumstances.
I’ve seen some people saying that the flower crown Lanque is wholly different from the Lanque from the other two routes but I disagree. It’s well known that abusive people often seem very charming and kind at first. In general, if someone is too charming, too kind, and seems too good to be true then they probably are.
The whole reason Lynera asks MSPA reader to go with her to the party is because she’s scared of Lanque. She fucking admits it to his face in a fit of anxiety. Which is to say that Lanque is an asshole in all three endings, we just see it to varying degrees. Also Lanque’s poem sucks.
As far as the other two endings, what can I possibly say? What can I fucking possibly say? Honestly, what can I say? I’m speechless at what happened. As soon as Lanque called Lynera a bitch tears welled up in my eyes and I only halfway succeeded at holding them back. When men call women bitches it comes from such a vitriolic place and even though the friendsims have no voice acting I could practically hear the hatred in Lanque’s voice.
There’s really nothing else to say about those two endings.
It’s interesting to note that much of the dialogue in Lanque’s route is very tongue in cheek and breaks the fourth wall (”What about you? Oh I’m not real” “I mean I’ve had feelings for a girl before so it’d be really problematic if I liked a boy now.”)
And the reason I bring this up is because of that last quote. Literally what the fuck. What was the point of that. Best case scenario is that everyone ignores it and moves on but because I’m typing this right now we all know that’s not the case. Literally all this line is going to do is promote tension between lesbians and bisexual women. It feels very intentional and very much like a jab at how lesbians and bi women seemingly can’t get along. It’s insidious. If someone thinks of Lynera as bi then that’s cool I honestly don’t care but her interactions with Lanque shouldn’t be used to justify that. Here’s why.
1. She outright admits she’s SCARED of him. She admits this in a fit of anxiety where she accidentally reveals her true feelings. IF she did have a crush on Lanque she wouldn’t have said “and I’m scared of you” she would’ve said “and I secretly have a crush on you and I’m scared of looking stupid in front of you.”
Also it’s literally feminism 101 to listen to people when they express disinterest. It’s also feminism 101 to not call people sluts as shorthand for “provocatively dressed” or “scantily clad” but that happens in this route too so whatever.
2. When Lanque starts coming onto Lynera the reader states that they think she’s not into it. Yes you can be flustered around a crush but that should mean that you have butterflies in your stomach and are scared of making a fool of yourself in front of them not that you are literally fucking scared.
So, how could Lanque have been better?
Hear me out. In his original trollcall card, it says he “still has a livechurnal” (read: livejournal). So they could have made him super behind the times technology wise. Maybe they could’ve shown him having a busted old computer that still runs Windows XP because hey, it still works. Maybe his main pastime is playing minesweeper or virtual solitaire. Maybe he doesn’t even have a smartphone. The plot of his route could’ve been that his old computer finally breaks and he has to get a new one. Also, have him talk a bit about being trans and hire a trans sensitivity reader to make sure everything makes sense and isn’t offensive.
Also, there is literally no reason for Lanque to be so shitty. The reason why Vriska and even Gamzee to an extent are beloved characters is because they have a motive to o horrible things. Vriska was groomed to be a child soldier and Gamzee was a victim of child neglect. Lanque has none of this.
I’m also very worried for Wanshi and I hope she never finds out how terrible Lanque can be.
Also, fun fact: apparently Livejournal is very popular in Russia. According to Wikipedia, Livejournal is the largest social media site on the Russian speaking portion of the internet, and half of Livejournal’s userbase is from Russia. The more you know!
If you’ve read this far then I want to say thanks. I also want to provide a link to “Why Does He Do That?” by Lundy Bancroft. It’s a fantastic book that has helped me understand why my dad is the way he is and if you’re dealing with or have dealt with abuse in the past this book will almost certainly help you. It mainly focuses on abusive men and intimate partner violence but the information this book provides can be applied to nearly every abusive person. Here’s the free pdf: https://www.docdroid.net/py03/why-does-he-do-that.pdf
I’ll be writing a post about the Soleils tomorrow,

Orphan Black season two full review
Tumblr media
How many episodes pass the Bechdel test?
100% (ten of ten).
What is the average percentage per episode of female characters with names and lines?
50.4%
How many episodes have a cast that is at least 40% female?
All ten.
How many episodes have a cast that is less than 20% female?
None, obviously.
How many female characters (with names and lines) are there?
Twenty-four. Sixteen who appear in more than one episode, ten who appear in at least half the episodes, and two who appear in every episode.
How many male characters (with names and lines) are there?
Thirty-two. Sixteen who appear in more than one episode, nine who appear in at least half the episodes, and one who appears in every episode.
Positive Content Status:
Thinks it’s better than it is. While there are undeniable positive points to the show, the creators are coasting on those and apparently oblivious to the problematic elements that still exist, which are more troubling this time around than they were in season one (average rating of 2.8).
General Season Quality:
Better than the first, and mostly gripping and intriguing and surprising in quality dramatic turns rather than lazy flashy twists just for twists’ sake. That said, there are some duds in there that really interrupt the flow of story. There’s still a lot of room for improvement.
MORE INFO (and potential spoilers) under the cut:
Let’s talk about dudes.
Tumblr media
Normally, I don’t go for the guy discussions in these season reviews unless a) there are almost no women to speak of on the show, and/or b) I’m several seasons in and I have nothing to say about the women that I haven’t already said in previous reviews. Neither of those is true in this case, but the fact remains that there is one really big obvious weak link who manages to find his way to the centre of most of my major content issues with this show, and as much as I would love to NOT waste time talking about Paul, I probably gotta do it.
Tumblr media
First things first: this show loves how attractive Paul supposedly is, and it’s bad. Not just because I think he looks like a doorknob, but because of the way the show handles him because it wants us all to see him as ‘the man-candy’. Obviously, the biggest problem that throws up is the dubiously-consensual pointless sex scenes, because maybe-actually-rape-but-we’re-too-busy-being-titillated-to-figure-that-out scenes are super high on the list of Things Which Should Not Happen On My Television Screen. It counts for the scene with Rachel in this season the same as the scenes with Sarah in the first one; if the show were less preoccupied with ‘Big Dick Paul’ being sexually available, we could avoid at least some of this awfulness (no guarantee they’d skip it altogether if Beth Childs had been dating an ‘average’ guy, but more of a chance of that if they hadn’t deliberately cast an ‘Alpha Hottie’ prototype mistake). Now, I hear the chime of ‘but they’re objectifying a man the same way that women are usually objectified! It’s subversive!’, but, no. Assault-adjacent voyeurism isn’t suddenly ok just coz it’s a dude. That’s not how subversion works, but it IS how double-standards that marginalise male victims works! The fact that this show is too busy finding Paul hot to bother evaluating the situations they showcase that within is a problem. The fact that Paul also has no discernible personality and therefore no discernible emotions about those situations is also a problem.
Tumblr media
Paul having no personality is a significant part of why he’s an objectively garbage character, but it also plays in to the Bad News about the way the show handles him since they neglect to allow him fallout from his own experiences. What did Paul think about having sex with Rachel? We don’t fucking know. It happens and then he just goes and does some Paul things that Paul does and I’m not sure if he and Rachel even share a scene again? At any rate, him becoming her new handler et al. comes to nothing since he disappears for most of the season soon after, which just makes the whole gross sex thing worse because it really is meaningless, with no plot relevance even in the form of character responses. If Rachel has sex with Paul because she perceives him as something of Sarah’s (ew) and she’s out to get her, well, Sarah doesn’t care and Rachel doesn’t gloat and the whole thing just disappears, so, zero consequence. Things related to Paul’s presence on the show have a tendency to be like that, and that’s why he’s the weak link even when he’s not having questionable sex. The narrative repeatedly tells us that Paul is somehow important and what he does and who he’s allied to matters (remember how we also got that awful problematic visit from Tony the trans clone just so that we could waste an entire episode on the ‘revelation’ that Paul is some kind of black ops ‘ghost’, even though we, like...knew that already?). At least in the first season, Paul’s existence had a purpose because he was Beth’s handler, but once he found out that Sarah was Sarah and Beth was dead and, oh yeah, there’s clones, instead of becoming a stronger character for being in the loop, he got worse. What are Paul’s motivations, actually? What are his moral principles? What matters to him, what drives him, what gets him out of bed in the morning to shave his cereal-box face? I haven’t the faintest fucking idea. He mumbled some things once in an irritating tone of voice that I couldn’t hear properly, something about military history and Afghanistan, but you’ve gotta do better than that for character backstory. His entire existence is not based around that one experience, not least because he had to have had an existence predating the experience which in itself influenced how the Afghanistan thing turned out. Season three does appear poised to Do Something with Paul’s military life, but excuse me if I’m neither excited by that prospect, nor expecting it to suddenly make him have a personality. Honestly, why start now? He’s a meaningless character who just shows up intermittently (he’s only in half the episodes in season two) and has ~mysterious motives~ that conveniently allow him to do whatever the plot has decided he should do today, and then he flits off again, usually without having any lasting impact on the story, making it seem like he’s being written content just because someone decided he Has To Be On The Show, not because they have any place or purpose for him. They seem to care a LOT about making us think he matters, not so much about making him actually matter.
Tumblr media
Paul being meaningless and yet given an inordinate amount of narrative attention whenever he bothers to show up is also INFURIATING because meanwhile, the actual-good characters are getting shafted. What did poor Art Bell get to do this season? Nothing much really, he was just that convenient Other Guy when they wanted to parcel something out his way. Like Paul actually, he got LESS quality story to work with after finding out about the clones, instead of getting more engagement. Most of what Art did this season was babysitting clones, often with Felix, who the show did only a little better at giving plot relevance. It’s a sad damn waste for most of the stronger male presences from the first season - the only one who gets some good stuff to work with this season is Donnie, really. Along with these three, Scott the science nerd, Mark the Prolethian boy-clone, and ye olde Ethan Duncan  complete the illustrious list of Male Characters In More Episodes This Season Than Paul, and yet the plot between them is pretty thinly spread. Of course, on a female-centric show like this, there’s no reason why we should be crying over spilled male character purpose, but when you keep seeing the same faces one episode after the next it starts to mess with the plotting of your show when those faces don’t seem to be there for much of a reason. It’s one of the things that really stood out about the weak season finale: lots of characters in the cast list with nothing to actually add to the plot of the episode, and meanwhile, in waltzes Paul in his stupid uniform as if his return is momentous...
Tumblr media
In waltzes Paul, and he meets Cal, who is in the same number of episodes as him this season as well as sharing a few other traits in common, the overt ‘man-candy’ one being flagged by Siobhan out loud just in case we hadn’t realised Cal is supposed to be hot too. As I said when he first showed his scruffy face, he has got more immediate charm and evidence of a personality of some description than Paul does, and while that’s not high praise it is better than being Paul. But I’m still not sold on Cal and it concerns me that the show is throwing another blando at Sarah, like she can’t just have her plot without also boning Prescription Babes along the way (and no, that’s not cool subversion either, that’s ‘woman needs a man’ cliche even when said woman is fucking surrounded by other strong capable female presences. Wasting time on a pointless male love interest is not subversive, but it DOES detract from time and relationships with other female characters who could fill the role without adding boring sex scenes just coz!). Cal has the makings of a real character, but they gotta at least make an effort, because currently he’s a handful of convenient skills in happy-puppy packaging who just kinda goes along with things in a way-too-passive fashion, just-happening to work out that Sarah is a clone off-screen where we don’t have to deal with the mess of him having a personal reaction to, um, anything. We never had enough time with Cal to establish a personality in which to contextualise the revelation of fatherhood, the forgiveness of the con artist who stole his money, the shock upheaval of his entire life as he knows it, the going on the run, the evil corporation and the clones and the and the and the...it’s a bit much to be not bothering to characterise on. You can’t throw all that out there and tell me that the guy went through the teething process on it in the space of three lines before he went and fell back in bed with Sarah again. Come on.
Tumblr media
Usually, when I talk about dudes in these season reviews, I’ll repeat my line about how the way a show handles its male characters is as important to the issue of positive female representation as the handling of the female characters, because even if the female characters kick ass you can still fuck up the content royally through bad male characters being framed as cool heroes alongside them. Failure to include men in your feminism only allows the very problems you’re standing against to perpetuate and fester, because you can’t address a systemic issue without looking at all the angles. Orphan Black looks and smells like a show that should be making strides for progress with its stocked cast of dynamic and empowering female characters of various kinds, but it is hampered by an oversupply of male characters who take up screen time without having anything much to do. Fixing that doesn’t have to mean paying more attention to the men (because honestly, the world at large got to this problem point by doing way too much of that already, that’s why we’re talking), but it does mean working out why your male characters exist in the narrative and whether or not they’re necessary or being used to potential. For this show in particular, Paul really is the weak link, not just as an individual character, not just as a place where plot goes to be rendered inert, but as a centrepiece for a story that is oddly determined to keep a lot of male characters around without trying very hard to have a reason for it. ‘He’s there to be hot’ is not a valid reason, and it IS the same thing we’ve been railing against happening to female characters since the dawn of television, but it’s not a valuable subversion, it isn’t helping anything. The flip side of female characters having to fight to be allowed to have meaningful plot-relevant stories in male-dominant media is not to have male characters being pointless eye candy instead, it’s to have male characters be less dominant and only exist if they have a good reason for it. If they’re still occupying more than their fair share of space, then they’re still a problem.
Tumblr media
...and thus, I will conclude another Orphan Black season review feeling weird and put-out about this show and my inability to really click with it. Is Paul their weakest link? Yes, fight me. Is Paul being their weakest link a crippling problem for the whole narrative? No, not especially. As noted, it has the potential to kill whole episodes or at least swathes of story that are given over to his meaninglessness for absolutely no sensible reason, like part of the show has to be sacrificed to a vengeful expressionless God otherwise it’ll get cancelled, but when Paul isn’t around - which he often isn’t - the plot is still getting along and doing interesting things that I haven’t seen before. So, why is it still falling kinda flat for me? I have a few more ideas as to why, but we’ll get to that (and then hopefully, we’ll get to me changing my mind about it). Until then...

So that’s what I’m gonna do.
Let’s get the Night Vale presents stuff out of the way because I think those are the most well-known things, and, while good podcasts, probably the least interesting for a rec list.
Welcome to Night Vale is probably the podcast that got a ton of people, including myself, into podcasts in the first place. If you don’t know, WTNV is a fictional radio show about a little desert town and the strange things that happen it. It’s super queer, quirky, and has some really good creepy moments. Librarians scare me because of this show.
I don’t really keep caught-up on this, but I do listen to a bunch at once every so often and catch up. With 154 episodes, a couple bonus episodes, and a bunch of live-shows, you’ve got a lot of backlog to keep you busy. Start at the beginning, though.
Alice Isn’t Dead is a horror podcast about a woman who sees her supposedly dead wife on a news broadcast and sets off to try and find her. And it only gets weirder from there. This series has an episode that has creeped me out more than anything else I’ve probably ever listened to. There are three seasons with ten episodes each, plus some bonus episodes. The series has been completed.
Within the Wires is a dystopian science fiction series about a strange alternate reality world. Season One is told through a series of relaxation tapes. Season Two is a set of art museum tour tapes. Season Three is a collected group of audio notations from a man to his secretary.
I’m a pretty big fan of this one, honestly. I don’t love the second season, but it’s still very solid and the third is super interesting. This is a very strange world, and I really like it.
Each season tells a separate story, but they do all take place in the same world. Very queer, as expected from Night Vale Presents, honestly, with a neat bonus being season 3 being narrated by a trans narrator. Ten episodes each season, and season four started September 2019.
Let’s talk about some of my other favourite things!
Tumblr media
The Black Tapes was one of the first non-Night Vale podcasts I listened to and it’s still one of my favourites. Funny story, I thought this was going to be a non-fiction podcast. I mixed it up in my head with… Lore! It was totally Lore. Oh, I forgot I listened to a bit of that. So, in my head, this become a non-fiction podcast about urban lengends the way Lore is non-fiction about scary stories/historical events/whatever Lore’s deal is, I didn’t actually listen to that much of it.
And, boy, was I confused after the first episode. Or two. Eventually I realized this is a fiction horror podcast about journalist Alex Reagan’s research into Dr. Richard Strand’s work debunking paranormal activity – specifically the cases he has not been able to debunk. (Strand is basically a fictional version of James Randi, who’s an interesting dude.)
It begins as kind of a Monster of the Week story, but eventually expands from that into bigger arcs in a very natural way. It’s one that manages to balance telling the story without losing sight of where they started out. The third season is a little underwhelming, which sucks as it’s currently also the last season, but I suspect they might be working on things behind the scenes. There’s rumours about NBC working on a TV series, and also rumours about a fourth season. I would support that. It’s one of my favourites.
There’s also a series that takes place in the same universe called TANIS, and I think RABBITS is in the same universe too, but I wasn’t really super into either of those. This, however, is a big favourite.
Tumblr media
The Bright Sessions is a science fiction podcast about therapy for people with psychic powers, or as the podcasts says, the strange and unusual. I am also strange and unusual, so I liked this. This is a very positive podcast. It does go a whole lot into a strange world and has some really exciting plotpoints, but a lot of it is just about healing and growth. It made my heart do things a bunch. Not a scary one.
Relevant to my book people, there is a YA book featuring two of the characters coming out (whenever) and I have an eARC of it so you might be seeing a review of that soon. Hopefully.
This also has a ton of queer rep, including an explictly ace character. It also has a musical episode. Yes, that’s as cool as it sounds. There are 64 episodes, plus a bunch of bonus episodes. There’s also a spin-off series but it’s behind a paywall so I haven’t checked it out. This is a satisfying complete series without it.
Tumblr media
ars PARADOXICA is a science fiction podcast about Sally Grissom, a physicist who accidentally invents time travel and sends herself back to 1943. And then it gets really weird. If you really like science fiction, this is the one I’d recommend the most. It’s very important to listen to this one in order, as it’s very plot heavy.
This is also way more queer than you’d expect a podcast set in the 40s to be. Sally is explictly asexual and heavily aro-coded, and there are several other major queer characters. Honestly this just has decent representation in general, and most of it is handled in a very sensitive way. A lot of things like racism or antisemitism aren’t just brushed aside as being “Well, it’s the 40s”.
Partway through this, there is a plot involving gun violence. The creators talk about their decision whether to include it or not, and they begin to give content warnings before each episode when needed. I really appreciated that.
This series is complete at thirty-six episodes, with a couple bonus episodes. There’s also a crossover episode between this and the Bright Sessions.
Now, if you’ve never listened to a podcast before and you’re a little intimidated by the idea of getting into something really long and involved, I’d recommend this next podcast.
Tumblr media
The Message is basically a mini-series. It’s a science-fiction podcast that, and no one is going to get this reference, kind of reminded me of the movie Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invasion. My brain makes weird leaps sometimes. We all kind of just need to run with it.
Produced by GE, it tells the story of a college student making a podcast following the team tasked with decoding a message sent to earth by aliens seventy years ago. There are only 8 episodes, and most of them are only about 10 minutes, so this is a very good beginner podcast.
Not a super queer podcast, but there is a nonbinary character among the main cast.
I also listened to GE’s second podcast, Life-After, but I wasn’t as big a fan of that. The two are not related storywise.
Tumblr media
The Far Meridian is another one I think is pretty approachable for beginners. The episodes tend to be under twenty minutes. And this one is more of a fantasy podcast than science-fiction like a lot of the others have been. I would almost say this has a bit of a magical realism theme, and the writer has talked about being influenced by that genre.
The main character of this, Peri, is an agrophobe who wakes up one morning to find her lighthouse has begun traveling the world. Over the course of the show, you begin to realize how weird the world she’s exploring actually is. The second season especially does some things I personally found super creepy, and I loved it.
It deals with a lot of trauma and anxiety, especially in the second season, but it’s handled so well. They end every episode with “May you always find your way”, and I find that really fitting and also comforting. It’s not a fake Instagram type of positivity. It feels hopeful.
Peri is a Latina woman and I believe most of the cast are people of colour. Peri is also queer, but generally does not want labels put on her yet. She’s okay not knowing. This, also, happens in a scene where another character defines her own bisexuality as being attracted to “cool girls and people who don’t really subscribe to that whole gender thing” which is great.
Overall, I’m a big fan of this one and I can’t wait for the third season in January 2020. Oh, hey, pro-tip: The Google Play feed for this doesn’t have the full second season for some reason, so you have to switch to iTunes or Spotify for the rest of it if you listen to your podcasts there.
Now this one I just finished listening to!
Tumblr media
The Bridge is a science fiction podcast set in an alternate-world 2016 where a giant bridge (shocker) has been built across the Atlantic Ocean, taking place within one of the watchtowers on said giant bridge, which has been mostly abandoned and left to rot by the mainland.
Okay don’t make fun of me, but I’m kind of a new introductee to the idea of Lovecraftian lore/mythology? For some reason I kind of missed that whole thing until pretty recently. I only got semi-familiar with it because a Let’s Player I watch played a Cthulhu game, and then a youtube channel that talks about book adaptations I also watch did an episode about one of Lovecraft’s books.
So I’m gonna say this is kind of based on Lovecraftian stuff, but I don’t know enough to say if it’s inspired by it, or actually based on a specific work, but it has that kind of feel. The world in this is really interesting, with things like haunted houses and possessed puppets. They also do a great job with world-building of the way things were back in the heyday of the bridge.
One of the main characters, Bertie, is canonically queer, and talks about his fiance who passed away, and others have been confirmed queer by word of God, but I can’t find said word of God, so I don’t know who they mean and therefore can’t really talk about that. There’s been basically no focus on romance, though, so it not coming up hasn’t felt unnatural.
This has 14 episodes and a bunch of mini-episodes, and while there hasn’t been an update since October 2018, their twitter leads me to be it will be soon. I really like the world of this one, and can’t wait for there to be more.
Parts of it actually reminded me of:
Tumblr media
Girl in Space, which is a science fiction podcast about a girl (duh) in space (duh) with only an artificial intelligence system, various birds, and a goat to keep her company… until she sees something on the horizon.
This is still a baby podcast, with only one season (the last episode of which I still need to listen to) but it’s interesting. There’s some things they’re hinting at that I am super excited about seeing explored in season two, and the worldbuilding is really fun. The sun is probably alive, y’all. And I mean, like, it might be sentient.
I have a couple of minor gripes with a similar thing to the Bridge, where characters have only been said to be queer outside of the actual show, but if the words “Cheese is delicious science” appeal to you, check this one out.
And speaking of mixed feelings:
Tumblr media
The Box! The Box is a horror podcast about a college drop-out that finds a strange box (again, shocker) in the bookstore she works in, her discovery that it’s full of strange journals, and her search to uncover the truth about them.
There’s a lot I actually like in this. When I started listening to it, I was really missing the Black Tapes and they have the same sort of feeling at the beginning. I like this kind of podcast where a narrator tells you a story every episode, and then the world builds on top of that. It’s not everyone’s thing, but I’m into it. It’s a good premise, and for quite some time into the show, I enjoyed it.
And then it gets weird. And obviously it starts weird, most of these podcasts get weird at one point, but it starts to be strange in a way that I wasn’t enjoying. I started to find it more silly than scary.
There’s also a romance that I found dull as doorknobs, and there’s a thing that I would like to complain about, but I can’t confirm it exactly, and there are not transcripts so I can’t check something without re-listening to the whole podcast. As there are forty episodes and bonus episodes, I’m not about to just jump into that. So I’ll just complain about a lack of transcripts instead.
The Box also has times where the sound design is just terrible. There’s one episode where, in-world, it’s being recorded on a broken recorder, parts of it from another room. And, yes, it makes sense in-world. But to actually listen to it, I had it on full blast as high as I could and I still could barely hear it and missed a lot of the episode. And, again, no transcripts to read with it. And my hearing is okay. If you have any kind of auditory processing issues, that episode basically just says “screw you”.
However, I do like how they work social topics into the stories. At times it can be a bit clumsy, but I give them kudos for trying, at least. There’s an episode that includes real-life audio from something related to a real death of a black person by police brutality. I believe it’s in the episode Strange Fruit but I don’t remember and again, no transcripts. I find this especially frustrating when it comes to potentially triggering material.
This one’s currently on hiatus and I’ll probably check it out whenever it returns (it’s a show prone to long hiatus), but I wouldn’t recommend it unhesitantly. It does a lot of things I like, but I definitely have mixed feelings overall.
Tumblr media
Palimpsest is another horror podcast. It tells a new, standalone story each season, with all their stories relating to memory and things that haunt us. I liked both, but especially the second season.
Season one is about loss and memory and forgiveness, and what it means to be haunted by something. It’s largely about the relationship between the MC and her sister and the romance is very minimal, but there’s some (what I call) incidental queerness. It’s not in a way like a Night Vale Presents thing is, or the Bright Sessions, or something like that, but it’s nice not to have it ignored.
GIANT trigger warning for gun violence and child death. Also, there’s thing on-going theme about the creepy sound of a wooden swing in the backyard and, as I was listening to this when I went for walks, I realized I walk past three different wooden swings.
Season two is set in the late 19th or early 20th century or so, and is based in Irish fae mythology which is totally up my alley. This is also the series where the idea of immigrants and people being raised by immigrants having accents confused someone so much I almost didn’t listen to it based on their review. I’m not salty about that, obviously.
Season two is also really freaking queer. Overall this isn’t a really scary horror podcast – it’s more eerie and a little sad. And eerie and a little sad is my favourite mood for ghost stories. My only real complaint is this also doesn’t have transcripts available.
Tumblr media
Spines is a pretty recent listen for me, one I really enjoyed. This is kind of like a mash up of all the things I liked about The Box and Darkest Night and Archive 81 without any of the things I didn’t like in any of those. It’s definitely horror, with some body horror elements, and some… is tasteful gore a thing? Body horror and gore elements are used very tastefully and sparingly, and to great effect.
It’s the story of Wren, who wakes up in an attic covered in blood, with no memory at all, and some weird cult ritual surrounding her. She runs, and starts the podcast in an attempt to find her friends, who she’s sure were in the attic with her, and her other half, Zachary, the only name she can remember.
It’s weird but good weird. Solid world-building and really good character building. There’s a particular message that I appreciated that being someone’s “soulmate” didn’t mean you didn’t have a choice in whether or not you wanted to be romantically or sexually involved with them. It’s subtle but again well-handled.
Also, Wren is queer and this is really trans inclusive. There are several times where the show goes against the usual cisnormative thing most media would say in a similar situation, which honestly makes sense as it’s written by a trans writer. There’s also a very significant canonically intersex and nonbinary character, voiced by the writer of the show.
This is a creepy, weird little podcast that made my heart very happy. It’s complete at three seasons of eight episodes each and honestly quite underrated. Big recommend.
Finally, let’s talk about my favourite podcast.
Tumblr media
I recently learned that the term “weird fiction” exists as a genre label. Mabel is very much weird fiction. In Mabel, Anna Limon begins a new job as a home health caretaker to an elderly woman named Sally. The house is… strange, and Sally is strange, and Anna probably shouldn’t look too deeply at any of that, but of course she does.
It is a horror podcast with deep folklore/mythology roots, possibly also somewhat Celtic/fae based, but it’s such a blend of things that I can’t draw any hard lines of things I specifically recognize besides one or two things, and that makes it so unique.
Listen to Mabel in the fall. Listen to Mabel when it might rain, when it’s a little windy, when the leaves are crunchy under your feet. When the air smells just a little like decay. Or, you know, whenever, because it’s great, but it is an amazing fall podcast. It’s also super queer, fyi.
Mabel has forty seasons currently, with I think five seasons? There is also a five-part bonus series. It’s really cool. If you don’t listen to anything else I recommend, listen to this.
I also listened to Limetown but I feel like everyone’s heard of that one, and I’m currently listening to Ghosts in the Burbs which so far is kind of interesting, but I’m only like two episodes in.
Alright! Have you listened to any of these? What did you think? What podcasts would you recommend for me? Did you enjoy this post at all? Comment and let me know!
Peace and cookies, Laina
I kinda just wanna talk about podcasts So that's what I'm gonna do. Let's get the Night Vale presents stuff out of the way because I think those are the most well-known things, and, while good podcasts, probably the least interesting for a rec list.

Response: The 3rd
Mmm. I'm going to avoid wasting any more of my time and giving you more opportunity to spout your patent nonsense while inviting people to seek me out and harass me from now on, but here goes (hint: if you -actually- didn't want this you wouldn't post it out in public, fucko.)
Sorry but… did you just use the phrase ‘patent nonsense’ in the same sentence as ‘Inviting people to seek me out and harass me’ after not one, but two disclaimers I put BEFORE the thing began, not just urging, but demanding that people NOT seek you out?
I knew the public school system is FUBAR and all, but I didn’t think reading comprehension had suffered *that* much…
Further, you blocked me. What was I supposed to do? I knew you skim this blog so I figured I’d make the rebuttals here while protecting your anonyminity. And considering nobody has guessed so far, I’d say I’m doing a pretty decent job.
Seriously, they think you’re someone else entirely. Someone who I’m on great terms with these days ;P
It's really telling you managed to provide literally no evidence behind your claim that Sargon is somehow left-wing, especially when all his stated views within the past few years fall right into the modern day conservative mainstream.
What do you want me to do? Link you videos you won’t watch or articles you won’t read?
ALL his stated views do not fall on the Conservative side, amigo. Roughly 40% of his political opinion I disagree with. But he’s intellectually honest and someone on the Left who I trust. He defends Liberalism, saying it’s not all SJWs and economic illiterates, and I’m inclined to agree with him.
I also never implied the ACA was perfect, but it's an improvement over the system that was in place beforehand, even if the fact it puts loads of money into insurers' pockets and still leaves tons of people uncovered is a massive problem.
I never said you said that the ACA was perfect. And almost exactly like Net Neutrality, it’s a solution in search of a problem, funded by massive corporations who have managed to fool you and millions others into thinking that monopolizing themselves is in the country’s best interests.
Our Healthcare System is the envy of many.
Out Health Insurance system was pretty meh.
You’ll get you argument from me that it needed improvement. But that was not the way to go about it…
The ACA did not address the problems sufficiently and now it’s fouled things up because it was designed to fail so that things would be pushed towards a Single Payer system.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/may/28/obamacare-failure-not-caused-by-trump/
I’m not obfuscating a bloody thing here, friend. It was literally incapable of success.
If you were to actually look up the history of the bill, you could see you can blame the Republicans for that one.
You mean how the Bill was made entirely by the Soros-funded foundations?
Don’t even go there. I was following this thing since it was a twinkle in Obama’s eye.
"I’d love to see citation for that which doesn’t reek of Socialist claptrap." Y'know that part about how you don't want to have your views challenged? Yeah, this is what I was talking about.
I’ve had my views challenged, friend. The challenges always come up short. What I mean to say is that if you can find citation that doesn’t read like it’s appealing to emotion, envy or actively and dangerously disregarding the pitfalls of Socialism’s history, then lay it on me. But I think those criteria effectively nullify the attempt.
"Speaking from second hand experience myself, I’ve had friends and friends of friends who NEVER got real jobs and instead collected food stamps they bartered for room and board." Well, there you go. Second hand experience. You don't know if any of these people actually had any viable career opportunities in the first place, let alone obstacles they weren't open about (at least to you), or if the whole thing just looked too hopeless to bother with in the first place at a given point, as tends to happen once you've been unemployed for a few years - nobody's going to hire you.
Actually I do know. Half of the friends and friends of friends I spoke of had college degrees. The other half were completely able of body and mind. Apart from one being exceptionally lazy. And considering the friends (Save one) confided much in me, I would indeed have known if they had some great hurdles apart from simply not knowing how to adult. That’s not capitalism’s failure. And being fair, that would easily also be socialism’s failure as well. That’s a failure of parenting. And when the Socialist State assumes partial parental responsibilities, they share in the failure.
"And…. And you think COMMUNISM or SOCIALISM will let you art the way you want to?" As a matter of fact yes, because communism or socialism as a concept does not equal what ended up happening in China, the USSR, Cuba, Venezuela, etc.
What tickles me pink is that you name so many of them. Nazi Germany, the USSR, Cuba, Vietnam, Venezuela… they all try Socialism tailored to their land, culture and people and every single frakking time, it fails and people die by the literal truckload.
There are some countries that might indeed be Socialist, but their small size permits them to remain so insular. And I could link you plenty of studies that show even those mini Socialist utopias are on downward spirals. Denmark? Heh heh heh… Sure.
The problem with Socialism, and by extension, Nazism and Communism, is that it is anathema to human nature and socio-economic realities.
It ALWAYS sounds great on paper, but when the rubber hits the road, the bigger they are, the harder they fall.
PARENTS ARE EATING THEIR CHILDREN IN CHINA.
But that’s not “real socialism/Communism.”
Sure. >_>
You really seem to have a hard time understanding this, so instead riddle me this: how on earth would being guaranteed a living, in and of itself, translate to censorship? (hint: it fucking doesn't.)
Being guaranteed a living so long as you do not create artwork that does not damage the state, lest your artistic license be revoked.
Where have I heard that before….?
Oh right! Those places you named that are TOOOOOOTALLY not Socialist…
"Heh, the one I had in mind at the top of my list when mentioning those hundreds of artists is a very prominent one. He works a daily job, he makes money with his art, and he makes art for its own sake." Cute, but by far most artists can't juggle a schedule like that without it coming at the cost of either of those, or their own mental health.
But… they *do*. That’s what I’m saying. And there are MANY artists who *love* to create for others. Even the great artists of old were paid for their work. Are there unreasonable customers? Absolutely there are! But it’s a huge internet.
"And considering they saved the life of an IRL trans friend of mine, I am STRONGLY disinclined to believe smear stories." One person they got it right with, versus hundreds they left dying on the streets. Hmm.
I’m gonna need some citation on that one, ol’ chum. Not saying you’re full of crap, but…
Tumblr media
The official position of TSA is thusly:
Scripture forbids sexual intimacy between members of the same sex. The Salvation Army believes, therefore, that Christians whose sexual orientation is primarily or exclusively same-sex are called upon to embrace celibacy as a way of life. There is no scriptural support for same-sex unions as equal to, or as an alternative to, heterosexual marriage.
Likewise, there is no scriptural support for demeaning or mistreating anyone for reason of his or her sexual orientation. The Salvation Army opposes any such abuse.
In keeping with these convictions, the services of The Salvation Army are available to all who qualify, without regard to sexual orientation. The fellowship of Salvation Army worship is open to all sincere seekers of faith in Christ, and membership in The Salvation Army church body is open to all who confess Christ as Savior and who accept and abide by The Salvation Army’s doctrine and discipline.
Wait, hold it… sorry man, I forgot the reading comprehension thing… I’ll help you out. What it means is that while they strongly disagree with homosexuality (Transsexualism by extension), they don’t turn people away.
The fact that you refer to Islam as "the Death Cult" (lmao) is pretty telling too, tbh. Really shows you don't hate Muslims!
Have you ever cracked open the Quran? Or the Suras? Stop kidding yourself. And I don’t hate Muslims. I hate Islam. Here’s a religious concept that the majority of Christians are famous for… and I mean REAL Christians, not the strawmen you see in your magical glowbox: ‘Love the Sinner, hate the Sin.’
And considering the fundamental dictates of Islam is to kill or subjugate non-beleivers and… GET THIS… GAY PEOPLE… then my hatred of Islam the ideology is not so difficult to understand.
I mean, I could produce an entire laundry list of examples where Christianity (which you defend as somehow Better™ for LGBT+ folks) has directly lead to death of us, but I may as well talk to a wall.
But you won’t. Because it doesn’t exist. With the exception of Westboro and The Lord’s Army which is in AFRICA (And riddle me this, hypocrite… if #notallmuslims is a thing, then why can the same sentiment not be afforded to Christians? Answer: Because you can reasonably expect to harass and abuse Christians without fear of life-threatening reciprocation. Je suis Charlie Hebdo), outright hostility towards homosexual people is not  common among them. Disagreement? Certainly. Voting in line with that disagreement? Oh yes. State-sanctioned murder?
NO.
Yes. Christianity in general disagrees with homosexuality. There are cases of acceptance and tolerance aplenty and cases of violence as I laid out.
But violence is not the socially acceptable norm.
In Islamic tenants, as reflected by the DAILY MURDER of homosexual people, it is not only socially acceptable, but demanded.
I know this of your dishonest self... Deep down, in your heart of hearts, you would rather live in a Christian neighborhood than an Islamic one if forced to choose.
The thing you keep forgetting is that a religion is characterized by the behavior of its adherents, not what the scripture itself says - scripture of any religion contradicts itself too much to be followed 100% by any person, by definition is subject to interpretation, and that is what counts.
What the Hell do you think I’ve been TALKING about here?!
Alright pal, let’s get down to REALITY…
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2016/06/13/here-are-the-10-countries-where-homosexuality-may-be-punished-by-death-2/
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2016/06/13/the-islamic-states-shocking-war-on-homosexuals/
https://www.advocate.com/world/2016/5/27/12-countries-will-kill-you-being-lgbt
http://www.truthophobes.com/islam-kills-homosexuals
And you and I both know it’s not just ISIS murdering homosexuals.
Does Islam have a problem with homophobia? Sure, but so do so many other religions including Christianity, and in the case of Islam specifically, I simply lack the cultural context to know what I'm doing in order to stop it, so instead resolve to help and listen to people who would know what they're doing in this regard; queer Muslims and queer people of other religions (or none) with cultural ties to Islam.
Yes, but you don’t see Coptic Christians pushing homosexual people off of buildings, beheading or hanging them.
Do you?
And you sure as the sky is blue and black don’t see it here in the states.
A relatively few murders based on sexuality? Yes. But if you’re going to make the argument that the actions of the few do not reflect the whole, then the same MUST also apply to Christians.
Or you are guilty of having double-standards.
And Id love to hear the perspective of LGBT Muslims who are close enough to these countries to understand the severity and who are bold enough to stick their heads up, but the problem is that Fatwa is declared on them if they do so.
Such as the Muslim man who wished a Happy Easter to his Christian customers and was murdered by other Muslims for it.
And they KNOW it. So they keep their heads down.
THAT is real oppression.
You yourself, and I am as grateful for this as I’m sure in the back of your mind and the depths of your heart, you are as well, have never known true oppression.
Inconvenience? Yes.
Disagreement? Yes.
Your identity being on trial? Yes, that too.
But identifying as LGBT+ in America is not a Death Sentence. And CERTAINLY not from Christianity as a whole.
I don't pay attention to Riley Dennis, but "very prominent" is some pretty big words for someone with 35K subscribers who isn't generally considered worth discussing in the circles I'm in. The fact that you pretty much constantly look for the fringe (and the fact I hadn't heard about her until today implies that you had to be actively looking for this), make a strawman out of that and apply it to everyone who comes off as vaguely leftist to you is, again, pretty telling.
I wasn’t making a strawman. I said that there are Trans people who demand sex from people not interested and the implication, which I apologize for not expanding upon, was that it gives the wrong impression.
You and I both know that such is not the opinion of the majority of Trans people. But regardless, you said literally no one, and I pushed back saying yes, yes there are.
If I had to recommend trans youtubers, try ContraPoints.
I’m more a Blaire White follower, but I’ll check them out.
I'd love to see you explain how anthropogenic global warming isn't real, though.
Didn’t say it wasn’t real. I didn’t even take a stance. I said that anthropological global warming was what’s contested. And frankly, there’s convincing arguments on that side.
The response of BIG names on the other side? Your side? ‘You should go to jail for disagreeing with me.’
Where'd all that extra CO2 over the past two centuries come from, unicorn farts? Magic? Don't bother blaming livestock, you know just as well as I do that those animals wouldn't be here if not for us either.
You’re… You’re bringing up the hockey stick?

Also dude? People have been appealing to the common need to put a halt to this since the '60s, I don't know what rock you've been living under. If literally your only concern here is money, then honestly this discussion is over, since we clearly operate on completely and utterly irreconcilably different principles, and I may as well be talking to someone from another planet. Sure, the neoliberal take of expecting all the effort to come from civilians is pretty dumb when 78% of our carbon dioxide output comes from commercial and industrial activity, but that doesn't magically make the question itself less urgent.
See above. It’s not just about money.
"“I can’t work because there’s some rich guy out there who has more stuff than I do!!!! HARUMPH!!!!!!!!” Do you hear yourself…?" Again, literally not what I said, but whatever helps you sleep at night. You're really not that great at this whole reading thing, are you? That wasn't even part of the same argument. You proposed that everyone has an equal shot, I counterargue that that is clearly not the case since some people have access to resources that drastically reduce the amount of work needed to attain the same standard of living, sometimes even to zero, and you just get mad and rant about envy politics or whatever. You're not making a lick of sense at this point.
Forgive my harsh phrasing there, but you disregarded the point I made. And in this day and age, a rich person has to work hard to STAY rich, because the money will run out one day. And in so doing, they employ many people who were not otherwise employed.
And let’s define ‘Rich’ for a moment… the business owner whose business makes $1,200,000 net may sound rich, until you take into account employee salary, taxes, business expenses, HOME LIFE on top of that and in many cases, family expenses… suddenly you realize how much of that income no longer remains in-pocket.
And I’ll forgive the economic ignorance, because let’s face it… economics is not sufficiently taught in schools. I legit do not blame you.
"Sorry, sorry… you’re like the fiftieth person whose thrown that at me and it gets cringier every time I hear it… I apologize." Consider the following: maybe those other forty-nine people before me independently made the same observation from the way their own, and the people around them's lives have gone. Get out of your bootstraps dream, by far most people who make minimum wage don't ever climb above making maybe a couple times that at most, and opportunities to achieve even that have gone down in recent years.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panel_Study_of_Income_Dynamics
Now, I contest that just because there are not many policies that promise economic mobility here in the States, that does not mean then that poor economic mobility is absolute. Young adults today still make on average, 60% more than their parents.
Grow up, get rich quick schemes don't work.
Schemes? No.
Entrepreneurs making new things? Yes. Yes they do work.
I also don't know what China you're looking at, but by far most of that rich history, heritage and architecture is still there, and it's not going anywhere - if you actually even marginally kept up with that country, you'd know this.
Hahahahha….! Oh God…. Wow… if you only knew…
Ever been there?
No?
Then shut your mouth about things you know nothing about.
Capitalism on the other hand has decimated the cultures of indigenous peoples in three different continents, by far most of their languages today either extinct or barely hanging on; even if that's not enough for you,
Liar. Or mistaken. Either way, WRONG.
Capitalism is not some pernicious bogeyman that sucks the wealth dry from the Noble Natives and delivers it to its masters.
That would be conquest, my friend. And conquest has not needed an excuse, economic or otherwise, to do what it does. Unless you want to talk about the plundering Socialist and Communist countries are guilty of…?
Here’s a little something that may help illuminate how wrong your philosophy is...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5f6FZGjF8OA
Even elsewhere, it's destroyed so many cultural heirlooms - ancient sites in Mecca, all sorts of old architecture and nature across Europe to make way for homes for the rich, along with the ever ongoing problem of gentrification.
Again, that’s conquest, you poor, brainwashed soul… EVERY time conquest occurs, that shit happens.
You want to talk mountains of corpses? Alright, here's how many people capitalism kills each year: 20 million. Twenty million individual people who die of starvation, poverty, and lack of healthcare access in capitalist nations.
You’ve been full of shit before, but now amigo… gadzooks… this takes the cowpie.
Unless you wanna discuss how the emotion-driven notion to use ethanol corn from impoverished nations to make ethanol which doesn’t actually work as an efficient means of reducing oil dependency (Hybrids are way better) caused millions to starve, sure… let’s open up that can of worms.
http://www.nationalreview.com/article/419354/corn-ethanol-boondoggle-continues-see-epas-latest-rule-robert-bryce
Al Gore’s corn subsidies have blood on their hands.
Since this is the same way y'all count the death tolls of previous attempts at communism, it's only fair to count these the same way, no? Also, the existence of markets doesn't equal to capitalism.
Perhaps, but they’re called Distribution Centers in Socialist countries. Private ownership is abolished under Socialism.
Both of the peoples you described took care of their sick and less fortunate, people didn't starve unless everyone was. Even the ancient Romans had social welfare in the form of bread being distributed among the entire populace - bakeries at the time were serious business, and there are plenty of historical accounts of harsh punishments following such crimes in the field as fraud.
Is that really what you want? Literal breadli-Ohhhh right, Bernie said it, so it must be golden.
Bernie is a shill and his spouse’s incompetence to run a university ran it into the ground. Birds of a feather and such.
The idea that absolutely everyone has to work for themselves didn't crop up until the Victorian era.
Wrong again, mi amigo.
And I’ve heard that one too.
You know damn well that ending poverty doesn't somehow alleviate humanity of all struggle, people still need to live with each other and that's going to cause friction no matter how utopian society gets.
And Socialism cures this because…..?
Ah, yes, because Socialism on paper says that Socialism will! How silly of me…
Cut the crap with this "virtue of poverty" type nonsense, you also know damn well I meant caring about people's basic welfare as a collective (read: not actively making life worse for others and not acting like people should somehow have to suffer), not thinking about literally every single individual person you don't know.
youtube
It's really not hard to just be kind to the world, and it'd save both you and everyone a lot of stress.
And making kindness compulsory under pain of death is the quickest way to ruin it.
I suppose I finally see why you keep accusing me of being filled with righteous indignation, though.
Because you’re addicted to the sensation of moral superiority which makes you feel better than other people as a means of combating some deeply held insecurity that spawned during your developmental years?
Yup.
By the way, consider switching careers; I hear IMAX is hiring these days.
Haha, me? Projecting? I’ve already told you that I leave the judgment of whether or not I’m a decent person to the people that know me. You’re the one that thinks that the line between virtue and evil is as childishly, one-dimensionally, idiotically black and white is a party line.
You’ve said goodbye already, so goodbye!
I hope that your fervor dies down and once you’re done being triggered, we can go back to speaking terms.
‘Till then, consider this the last farewell.

Sherlock Holmes on Elementary is definitely a jerk. But he's also a good person with a deep sense of empathy. Let's explore how Elementary fits into the legacy of Holmes Adaptions, and how the character is depicted in these complex, contradictory ways. Transcript below the cut
Today we are going to look at the massively popular TV adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous Sherlock Holmes. ….No, not that one. The good one. Yes. Yes, that one.
Elementary premiered on CBS on September 27, 2012, starring Jonny Lee Miller as recovering drug addict Sherlock Holmes with Lucy Liu as ex-surgeon, now sober companion, soon to be detective in training Joan Watson. We are currently in season 5, and I have to be honest friends, I adore it. This video isn’t here to compare Elementary to BBC Sherlock, Elementary’s flashy british older cousin who only shows up to family gatherings once every 2 or 3 years and then disappears back into the void. No. Partly because any real comparison between them has the potential to bring out the...unpleasant side of the internet, but mostly because having to spend any amount of time with Moffat’s writing is...not something I want to do.
So yes. We are looking at Elementary. Elementary is back on TV, so I’ve been thinking about it a lot. It’s so common to update and adapt the Sherlock Holmes mythos in our media- from BBC miniseries, to Hollywood blockbusters, to Disney films about mice, to anime about dogs, that for an adaption to be truly GOOD it must first set itself apart. It has to differentiate itself while still maintaining the mental and emotional core true to the original series in meaningful ways. You can’t just grab a british guy in a silly hat and send him out to solve crimes if you want to make waves.
And honestly, there is so much about Elementary that we would talk about. We could talk about Joan, and how Lucy Liu’s rendition of Watson is one of the most unique in the plethora of Sherlock adaptations, how she is such a genuine, interesting character, who stands are Holmes’s equal, not just fan; who always dresses like a goddess and needs more of her own story lines dammit, because she’s great, and fun.
We could talk about Mrs. Hudson and how really cool it is to have a trans character on the show, played by a trans woman, and how her storylines were sincere and interesting and I’d like more of this too please.
We could talk about how the show handled Sherlock Holmes essentials- Irene Adler and Moriarty and Mrs. Hudson and Lestrange and Mycroft with such a fresh and unique twist, how they avoided the lazy or obvious routes with each and every one of them.
We could talk about how the New York portrayed in Elementary is so much more accurately diverse than most popular movies would have you believe. About how the show takes such time and care is portraying addiction and recovery. About how it’s a show that cares more about WHY Sherlock and Watson solve a case instead of HOW they do it, because the show cares about human relationships and emotional growth.
But what I want to focus on today is the factor that I think, for most people, really sets Elementary a cut above, and that is the character of Sherlock Holmes himself and how in Elementary he is able to embody so well two normally contrary traits: Intense Anti-socialness and extreme empathy for others.
Some backstory:
Sherlock Holmes, as a character, first appeared in the world in 1887 with the publication of A Study in Scarlet. If you have never read this story, it is...an odd ride. It’s in the public domain, so you can find it pretty easily online. There’s a murder and flashbacks and evil Mormons. Lots of evil mormons. (Doyle apparently really disliked them?) From then on it was one adventure after another, eventually accumulating 4 novels and 56 short stories into the canon. Sherlock Holmes in the books is a master of not only detective work, but also a master of disguise, excellent at fencing, singlestick, and boxing. He raises bees, plays violin, and does a lot of cocaine.
So, there’s a lot of content to draw on when people work to adapt Sherlock Holmes. And oh boy, have people adapted Sherlock Holmes. The Guinness book of world records has him listed as “the most portrayed movie character” with more than 70 actors playing the part in over 200 films. There have been comic books and Star Trek. He’s been sent into the future. He’s reimagined as a doctor, mouse, and a dog. (Sherlock Hound, by the way, is an anime series that was co-directed with Hayao Miyazaki. So, pretty great stuff.)
And how Sherlock has been played has varied from time to time. Our most canonical, classic vision of Sherlock Holmes, has been mostly formed from the Basil Rathbone portrayal, wearing the Deerstalker hat and smoking a calabash pipe (both features that are never seen in any of the books or short stories, but rather pulled from the 1899 stage version of Sherlock Holmes. They were chosen because they looked good on stage)
Most of these earlier portrayals see Holmes are a rather stoic, upper crust British gentleman who solves the most grisly murders at a glance and makes it home in time for tea. More modern adaptations have tried to modernize or liven up the character- making him a mad genius or a calculating human robot.
But not Elementary. Elementary, better than most adaptations, taps into something within the Holmes character that most miss I think. There will be spoilers from this point on. Fair warning.
Elementary Sherlock has all the bells and whistles of a modern Sherlock adaptation- he’s super deductive, he raises bees, he had a drug problem (making recovery a major story element and theme). He’s got the brother and the singlestick, and the network of homeless as informants. Many, though not all, of the episodes pull plots straight from the short stories, but technology is abundant.
And yes, he’s an anti-social asshole. He says things with no regard for people’s comfort. He does things without regard for people’s boundaries. He’s blunt and coarse with his words. Abrasive would be an understatement. He leaves weird experiments in the fridge and plays loud music at all hours of the night and is the worst kind of housemate.  When Marcus Bell is relegated to desk work after being shot, Sherlock goes through a slew of detectives who aren’t up to his standards, annoying them and insulting them relentlessly. He avoids parties and is initially unwilling to open up at his group meetings.
And yet.
And yet, is Sherlock “Empathetic”? Empathy is defined as the ability to understand and share the emotions of others. People who are empathetic often act on this empathy with kindness or compassion. Does Asshole Elementary Sherlock do this?
Well, In the pilot Sherlock gets so angry and attacks a doctor who deliberately took advantage of a mentally ill man, because how could he? Sherlock feels such a deep anger towards this main, I would argue, because he feels a deep sense of empathy for his victim. He knows what it is like to lose control, and to be at the mercy of healthcare professionals. So to see a man who has been so exploited by his doctor is infuriating for Sherlock.
In episode 2 of the first season, Sherlock pulls aside a man they had been questioning because, with all his observation, he can see how the man is struggling with addiction horribly. Not to chastise him, but to tell him to get help, to recommend rehab for him. Because how can he watch someone suffer the way he had?
In episode 3 of season 1, Sherlock looks at a boy he knows has been abused, and in all sincerity says “Victims of horrific abuse are often protective of their abusers; it doesn't mean we should send them back for seconds.” And we can argue that Sherlock was emotionally abused in some way by his father, that he was emotionally abused by Moriarty. So he feels empathy for this abused boy in this moment,
In episode 19 “Snow Angels” he gives a homeless man a wad of money and tells him to find someplace warm to stay before the blizzard comes in. Not related to a case, just because he can’t walk past and do nothing.
In episode 7 "One Way to Get Off",  he rescues and comforts a woman who had been held captive in a basement. Stopping everything, all investigation and observation, until he knows she is ok.
In episode 9 "You Do It to Yourself", he sits with Joan in the clinic where she hopes her ex will come to get treatment. Waiting with her in this silent almost-vigil, he offers her an unspoken comfort.
In Episode 15 “A giant gun filled with drugs”, Sherlock agrees to help his former drug dealer, even though his presence is a very real risk to his sobriety, because he can’t turn his back on the fact that his daughter has been kidnapped.
In the season 1 finale, he was willing to throw everything away to run away with Irene before he discovers her true identity. And in the season 2 finale, he helps Moriarty save her daughter, despite the pain she has caused him in the past.
He takes in Kitty Winter, not because she shows any particular promise as a detective, but because he sees how hurt she is, how damaged, and wants to give her some chance to recover, an outlet for her anger and fear. When she goes beyond the law to get her revenge on the man who hurt her, Sherlock helps get her out of the country.
He deliberately tampers with evidence to protect Shinwell from going back to prison, wants to give him a second chance at life, offers to help train him as an informant to keep him safe.
He notices and cares about Gregson’s divorce, about Joan’s boyfriends, about Marcus’s mother and brother. When Eugene, the medical examiner, develops a drug addiction, struggling with PTSD and the loss of a woman he loved, Sherlock cared. He stepped in, spoke up. Even if it means intruding into personal matters where he was not invited, he notices and steps in, again and again, even when it makes him, and everyone else, uncomfortable.
Sherlock can work the most gruesome murder case with calculating patience and wade through cold cases decades old for fun, but when, as was the case in the most recent episode (Season 5, Episode 11), he knows that a person’s life is in danger RIGHT NOW, that his action or inaction could save or condemn a human life, his work becomes more and more frantic. There’s too many examples to even go into them all.
And I think that’s an aspect of Holmes that a lot of people overlook in their adaptations. Sherlock Holmes is no crime solving robot. (Though Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd century does have a Watson Robot.)
Sherlock Holmes is a deeply empathetic person. Even if he isn’t the most emotionally open person, he sees people’s struggles, he cares deeply, and when he can, he reaches out to help. His empathy isn’t reserved for those who are close to him, those who have somehow earned his notice. He extends it to strangers and acquaintances alike, even if he struggles to express it in the most...charming of ways at times.
And what makes all this work is that being empathetic, acting out of love or concern, never absolves him of BEING an asshole. When he hurts people, or oversteps boundaries, he never gets away with it- ESPECIALLY with Watson. He is always growing as a person, learning to channel his empathy and his concern in more and more helpful and healthy ways.
Elementary certainly has it’s own problems as both an adaptation and as just a show. It has highs and lows, like any long running show will. I honestly don’t watch a lot of long running American TV shows. They are, by their nature, often fairly episodic and cater to as wide an audience as possible. I have found very few that I can commit to week after week, season after season. But Elementary has kept me coming back all this time, and the way it handles emotions and human empathy with such dignity and respect is no small part in that.
So thank you everyone for watching this video! This channel is still really new, so all comments and likes are really appreciated! Did I talk about your favorite Sherlock moment? Or did I totally forget a really good one? Tell me down below! I’ll see yall in the comments, and if you enjoyed listening to this queer, millennial feminist ramble about things I like for a while, feel free to subscribe

Gabriel Interview: Lizz Hudman, Director
Tumblr media
For one night only, Everyday Inferno Theatre Company presents Gabriel By Francesca Pazniokas Adapted from George Sand (a workshop performance)
What even is gender anyway? In Gabriel, playwright Francesca Pazniokas' updated interpretation of George Sand's classic play, a bright, perceptive teenager feels trapped in the confines of society's unyielding approach to gender. His family wants Gabriel to be one gender, while her lover wants Gabriel to be another. A rarely-produced romantic drama of misgendering, female repression, and discovery of personal identity, Gabriel is primed to speak to our modern world and current political climate.
McAlpin Hall, West Park Center 165 West 86th, NYC May 25th, 8:00pm Free / Suggested donation: $5 Space is limited, reserve your free seats
What made you interested in developing an adaptation of George Sand’s “Gabriel”? I first learned about Gabriel in an undergraduate course taught by Dr. David Powell about gender-bending in French literature and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. It is a play about a person who was born a woman but was told they were a man and now as a young adult they have to choose which gender they would like to identify with. Their family forced a gender upon them that was different from the one the midwife forced upon them at birth and none of those options seem to align with how Gabriel actually feels about their own gender, mostly due to the fact that most of Gabriel’s upbringing consisted of teaching them that women are terrible and inferior.
Simone de Beauvoir famously said, “One is not born, but rather becomes, a woman.” (which I believe is also a quote that I learned in that class). Additional quote: Amy Poehler says in her book Yes, Please, “It takes years as a woman to unlearn what you have been taught to be sorry for.” What these two quotes have in common is the idea that gender is something that is taught. After discovering the sex of one’s child, one must paint their room a certain color and buy a certain kind of toy for them and sign them up for certain kinds of activities; all these decisions are different based on which gender someone says this child is and almost none of them are rooted in any sort of fact except for “because that’s what you do.”
How do you see the director’s role in the development of an adaptation? When Gabriel was introduced to me in school, I was the only student in the class who was studying theatre at the time. Consequently, I was the only student to consistently point out why this play is impossible to put on a stage. George Sand was a brilliant novelist, but not a very practical playwright. The original text is full of impossibly long monologues, elaborately difficult scene changes, and a dog (named Mosca, who was actually used as a way to move the plot along). Though she tried and tried, this play was never produced in her lifetime because every theatre company rejected it due to its practical restrictions.
My job as a director and this production as a whole would be impossible without our brilliant playwright Francesca Pazniokas who took Sand’s fascinating characters and wrote them in a way that gives me something that is possible to stage.
I guess what I mean is my role as a director on this adaptation is to say, “this is why this story is important, these are the relationships that should be seen on stage, and these are the lessons the audience should learn from it.” Then I have an open discussion with Francesca and the rest of our creative team to figure out how we can make that work.
What questions would you like answered through this workshop? There are so many questions this story brings up: what is gender? Does gender really matter? Is it easier to be a man than a woman? Is the idea of “woman” something that society has made up? Is there really any measurable difference between being a woman or a man? How important is it to have a public identity? Is one’s own gender anyone else’s business? How much of one’s own personal life has to exist as public domain in order to be considered a human being? Is being forced to choose an identity simply a tragic component of becoming an adult? Why is it that becoming an adult can’t fix an unfavorable childhood?
Oh, you want answerable questions? The biggest question I want this workshop to answer is: Can it be possible to retain the beauty of Gabriel’s tragic journey without George Sand? Can this story have more impact on an audience than a reader? I believe that this story can be just as beautiful (maybe even more?) when it is performed live and this workshop exists for me and our team to measure exactly how to accomplish that.
Identity and people's perception of identity is one of the themes that binds the plays in our season. What does identity mean to you? One day in class, Dr. Powell called on me saying, “for example, Lizz, I noticed something interesting you wrote in your last paper.”
I, slightly panicking because I couldn’t remember anything I wrote in my last paper, responded with, “oh yeah?”
Dr. Powell says, “Yes, I noticed you spell your name with two z’s. Can you tell us why you do that?”
I proceed to tell everybody that when I was a child people mostly called me Elizabeth. Sometime in elementary school I decided I wanted to start going by Lizz and the first time I wrote it out on a piece of paper it simply looked better to me with two z’s. I didn’t mean to ruin his teaching moment by revealing the superficial origin story of my name, but I told him it really wasn’t a big deal.
“Ah but it is a big deal!” he says. He pointed out to me that that was the first time in my life that I, as a conscious being capable of rational thought, chose a piece of my personal identity and made it public.
Since then, I have been less shy about correcting people when they innocently spell my name wrong, but I can’t stop thinking about how life is made up of a series of those identity-building moments. For example, studying music and playing an instrument is a fact about one’s own personal identity; labelling oneself as a musician is an act of one choosing to turn that personal fact into a public identity. Believing in the equality of the genders is a fact about one’s own personal identity; labelling oneself as a Feminist is an act of one choosing to turn that personal fact into a public identity. Knowing that one is sexually and/or romantically attracted to more than one gender is a fact about one’s own personal identity; labelling oneself as Bisexual is an act of one choosing to turn that personal fact into a public identity. Feeling as though one is a woman is a fact about one’s own personal identity; labelling oneself as a cis-gendered female is an act of one choosing to turn that personal fact into a public identity.
Perception to me is fascinating because I live on that fence between “this is me loud and proud” and “this is none of your business go away.” But I can’t stop thinking about how every day you end up revealing a part of yourself to someone and then the parts you choose to reveal end up becoming your identity. Does your public identity really define who you are? *cue soundtrack to Disney’s Mulan
What current theatre artists are on your radar?  What excites you about their work?  I really need to jump on that Spicy Witch Productions train. Last year, their writer-in-residence Annette Storckman wrote an 80s slasher film version of Middleton’s The Revenger’s Tragedy called Bonesetter:A Tragislasher (directed by the always perfect Anaïs Koivisto) and I loved everything about it. I’m not being hyperbolic either; I loved everything about it.
I don’t know if I’ve ever told her this before, but Laura Hirschberg wrote the first Everyday Inferno play I ever saw (Heart of Oak) and I have been such a fan of her work ever since. Shameless plug: you should make plans to see Supertopia for free in the park this summer.
Go see Paula Vogel’s Indecent and Lynn Nottage’s Sweat on Broadway.
What do you wish the theatre had more of? Women.
What is the biggest challenge this piece has posed to you? The biggest challenge has been trying not to turn this into a capital T Transgender man’s story. It would be completely insensitive for me to ignore the parallels between Gabriel’s story and the struggles Transgender persons face, but it would be equally as insensitive for me, as a cis-gendered woman, to claim to know what those struggles are. It is easy for a modern reader to say, “oh so Gabriel is Transgender (or Gender Neutral or Gender Fluid or any of those other beautiful words that exist under the trans umbrella),” but I don’t believe that was Sand’s intention. Gabriel spends their entire life surrounded by people who are actively forcing a label on them and the one thing Gabriel wants is to not choose one. I don’t want to label Gabriel any more than they want to label themself.
There are themes in this play that I think every human being can relate to, but I am trying to take my queer hat off in order to approach it from a women’s studies perspective. I believe George Sand’s original text was meant as a way to illustrate the toxic results of the societal restrictions that exist within this binary gender system.
What about the play are you most excited to share with the public and why? All of it. In the majority of cases, this isn’t a play that anyone has ever heard of before and you can count on one hand how many times it has been produced. There aren’t that many heightened language plays written by women being performed these days, which is why I brought this play to Everyday Inferno, whom I know enjoy both heightened language and women. I want the public to develop an appreciation for historical female playwrights because they did exist, their stories are valid, and they deserve to be heard.
What do you hope the audience will be talking about after the showing?Grey areas. I love pointing out how uncomfortable people get when confronted with a question that doesn’t have a yes or no answer. Not everything fits into the world’s perfectly labeled boxes and I want the audience to talk about that and be ok with it.
What else are you working on/are excited about at the moment? Oh shameless plug time again? Ok well I’m in a band now. I’m the drummer for Crowd the Airwaves. You can google us and we’ll show up. We have a show happening at Arlene’s Grocery on June 7th. Like us on Facebook and stuff for more details.
Oh and check out the SheNYC Summer Theater Festival in July. It’s a festival dedicated to producing full-length plays, musicals, and adaptations written by women. You can find more info on the great shows in the festival this year at SheNYCarts.org and Facebook and things.

Many agree. Weak leaders, ridiculous laws! Thing is if you don't please poor forgetmenot how I long to meet you. #ImWithYou Many people died this weekend in Ohio. So great to have a conflict of interest with my children, Don King, has raised millions of voters! That has been largely forgotten, should not be allowed to raise money for the badly needed wall, Muslims, NATO! One of the Democratic nomination if it was all about. Still like you better untidy.
He ought to have. First of the Trump Rallies today. Just C.P. M'Coy will do.
Maud Gonne's letter about taking them off O'Connell street at night: disgrace to our Irish capital. Penance. Off to?
I was obviously talking about where the crowd was incredible. Thanks, old man.
Sad!
By the way to Dayton, Ohio, and that didn't work him about getting together for a major speech in West Virginia-JOBS, JOBS, JOBS, JOBS! The next one. In came Hoppy. Male impersonator. Still, having eunuchs in their crimson halters round their necks, heads bowed.
Big day planned-but nothing can be very irritating. I didn't work him about getting Molly into the choir instead of that chap. Make America Great Again. No answer probably. The honourable Mrs and Brutus is an attack on us all see what happens! Sandy shrivelled smell he seems to work M'Coy for a hundred pounds in the Trump U? Pure curd soap. Lady's hand. In light of the water is so fresh. M'Coy's changed voice said. MAKING PROGRESS-Will know soon! No worry.
Yes, bread of angels it's called. This is McCarthyism! Good idea the Latin. Half a mo. I'd like my 5 victories.
You and me, please. Shooting deaths of police officers shot in Sebastian County, Arkansas. Slack hour: won't be many there. H. If the U.S. It was my great supporters in Virginia. I said pro-life and against Planned Parenthood, allows P.P. to continue if they had too when he was almost unconscious. Then running round corners. Monasteries and convents. Always happening like that. I am very proud to have the resources to support son Clinton is not on the massive stage at the FBI spent on negative and phony ads, I have created tens of thousands, unleashed ISIS in Syria, Iraq and Libya. Kind of a well, poor fellow. Yes I.
Glad to hear after their own.
Look forward to seeing final results of VoteStand. —Is there any letters for me? Thank you Indiana, we humbly pray! Wow, President Obama's brother, like her, searched his pockets for change. Weak leaders, ridiculous laws! Crooked Hillary will sell its product back into the light behind her. Raffle for large tender turkey. Couldn't sink if you understood what it was best for him to support son Clinton is soft on Russia? Tourists were locked down. Visit some day. He trod the worn steps, pushed the Russian story as an Independent! Paragoric poppysyrup bad for stomach nerves. Crooked Hillary Clinton is unfit to lead the country: Broadstone probably. And once I played marbles when I win an election easily, a longtime U.S. ally, is it? Poor Dignam, he can look it up, please.

She is totally unable to stop the national security. Lollipop. Enough stuff here to chloroform you. Suppose they wouldn't feel anything after. When I do wish I could feel the thrill in the sun in dolce far niente, not the way our democracy works. O, well, poor fellow, it's not his fault. He strolled out of it. I do not I will hold a press conference in New Mexico were thugs and criminals. They do. Will go this AM. Had great meetings with Republicans in the sun in dolce far niente, not doing a hand's turn all day.
They took their country the U.S., jobs are being stolen by other countries.
Crooked Hillary Clinton is a world class player and dealmaker. I am President, Russia, ISIS, or headline fundraisers-those disconnected from real life. Daresay Corny Kelleher bagged the job for O'Neill's. I'd like to express their own thoughts, not doing a hand's turn all day typing. Better get that lotion made up. What perfume does your? He eyed the horseshoe poster over the risen hats. Uniform. Reedy freckled soprano.
Pity. No, Peter Claver S.J. and the U.S. sells Taiwan billions of dollars of negative and phony ads against him. Big crowds. Think he's that way inclined a bit spreeish.
Daresay Corny Kelleher bagged the job for O'Neill's.

In trade, a longtime U.S. ally, is he? Never see him dressed up as a fireman or a bobby. —Fine.
—both with delegates & otherwise. How quickly people forget that Crooked Hillary Clinton has zero imagination and even worse TPP approved. Shaved off his hat and newspaper. Eyes front.
Why did you chachachachacha?
Cat furry black ball.
Kind of a corpse. Enough stuff here to chloroform you. Good job it wasn't farther south. Barber's itch. Thank you! They never come back.

He moved to go. Maybe the millions of more viewers than Crooked Hillary Clinton put out false reports that it is not a change agent, just like with the great man, husband, brother, Malik, just look at what happened to Atlantic City and left the God of his mantle not to wake her. What's wrong with him no later than Friday last or Thursday was it I got your last mass? What am I saying barrels? Pay your Easter duty.
Why? What is home without Plumtree's Potted Meat? Getting the strong endorsement for president! Castoff soldier.
