TWP: my arthurian headcanon pt.1

Ah yes, another ramble of mine. What a treat!

I have this vague memory of cc saying something about the inspiration for TWP a long, long time ago (my memory is also not that great btw). I'm not sure if she'll actually do it anymore but i've been thinking about this since then. So. This is what i would love to see represented in the books with the little knowledge i have of the Matter of Britain.

Warning: i will over simplify the stories. deal with it.

Ash Morgenstern, the heir of the Seelie Court (arguably turned heir of both courts): i would love to see him as a mix of Gawain and Galahad - two knights connected to the Grail, which in this scenario would be the Black Book of the Dead. Galahad is the epitome of perfection - he is blessed with purity, luck and power form the Holy Grail. He defeats his enemies with little to no effort. The "purity" in Ash is (mostly) gone, i think we can all agree on that. He's survived the horrors of the Unseelie Court, of Thule and Sebastian, of Annabelle's instability, and that cost him. But he is the most powerful mortal character cassie has written so far. No. You can argue with the wall on this, the boy can command all living creatures, can inspire fealty with only a look, his strength is antinatural and he has wings. Not just any type of wings, literal fallen angel wings. He might be able to create runes, he has immeasurable power inherited from his mother, he is the strongest character in the shadowhunter universe right now. Period. Anyway, let's continue. Galahad's perfection and unmatched abilities won him a mystical-ethereal-kind-of-holy glow that few have and on that very exclusive list is my boy, Ash. (If you are, indeed, arguing with the wall you are in a worrying state of denial and i hope you get out of it before twp comes out, xo, with love, - v)

Gawain, the nephew of King Arthur (you can already tell who i'll attribute Arthur's story to in the end, right?) who, in his arrogance, stroke a fatal blow in the Grene Knight had a year to prepare himself to receive the same blow from the Grene Knight. Bla bla bla, he had his quest after the year was up, bla bla bla, adventures in the forest, but wait a minute! he hesitated to receive the blow - an action the Grene Knight chastised him for. He survives but comes back to Camelot wearing a green sash as a token of his failure/shame. Okay, so maybe Ash hasn't gone through an arc like Gawain's but come on. He's changed. He went through hell and back with Annabelle, Sebastian, Janus, the Queen, but first and foremost: Arawan (yes, you lovely genius, i'm implying he's the Grene Knight here). A much worse version of the Grene Knight, for sure, but it works in the sense that after suffering the trials (read: tortures) that Arawan inflicted upon him, he returned home (after a long time and more tortures) victorious but somehow defeated. He doesn't trust his mother anymore, feels as though he has lost parts of himself and senses a strain in his relation with Janus. He has been enlightened, knows more of the world and of people, he has gained much - and has lost even more. The innocence is long gone, he has made mistakes and doesn't know how to acknowledge them, how to fix them.

But there is one thing, one last shred of hope glistening in the distance - the girl in the drawing, Drusilla Blackthorn.

For the character game, Kit?

Sexuality headcannon: People go back and forth between bi or pan and honestly we could do either. But I like bisexual for Kit mostly because of the aesthetic. Like I feel like the vibes are very Kit Herondale you know? The whole cuffed jeans, clear phone case, finger guns, sweater weather vibes feel like a part of Kit and like they jive with his character. Does that make sense? Idk.

And before anyone murders me yes I know these are just stereotypes but sometimes stereotypes are accurate as hell. Like I live in flannel for example.

Ships: kitty obviously. But I'm fine with anyone else being a stand in for Ty as long as eventually they end up together.

Brotp: Kit and Dru!!! I love them. Also maybe Kit and Ash if they bond in TWP. I want them to be Parabatai for some reason.

Notp: Kit and Livvy. The fact that their were some people genuinely shipping them after LOS like get the hetero bullshit away from me thanks.

Headcannon: I have so many. Enby Kit. He/they pronouns.

Opinion: I love this kid but he needs to recognize the damage he did and has the power to do to Ty. He needs to make an effort to understand that Ty won't always be able to be what he needs because communication is difficult for him. He needs to understand that Ty won't always be super open and obviously affectionate and that doesn't mean that he doesn't care.

He needs to realize that his whole "Ty is my everything" teenage Herondale way of thinking is not healthy and he needs to lean on others like his family for example. Like I know that it's difficult to learn that especially with your first love, but it's an importent lesson to learn.

About the discussion of sexualization – I hate it when people sexualize Kitty. And before people tell me I'm being homophobic, I'm not. I hate it when people sexualize Dru and Ash or Dru and Jaime. I just hate people sexualizing children. If the author writes them exploring their sexuality on page, then that's different. Sexualizing is taking something inherently not sexual and making it sexual. Kit and Ty are a) minors, and b) not sexual in the books. As a +LGBTQ teen, I find it disrespectful.

To add on to my previous ask, the reason I find it disrespectful is bc children are generally hypersexualized these days. Yes, teens do explore their sexuality, but that's an active choice made by them. When someone else pushes a sexual image/narrative on them...I hate that. In the case of characters, authors writing a teenager exploring their sexuality would be the equivalent of the character choosing, but when fandom sexualizes them, they're pushing a sexual image on a child...eww.

Thank you for your message and opinion. I’d answer this as carefully as I can, seeing that I'm most definitely not a minor, and your feelings and opinions are something I’d like to answer respectfully.

I agree that it’s unsettling to see people sexualize minors, especially ones so young as the boys and Dru are in the books. I think it’s even more often with queer people because they’re forced to have sexual narratives. Being queer doesn’t mean everything about you must be told through a sexual lens, it’s only part of your identity, not it’s whole. Same with young girls. A girl’s clothing company in my country did a disgusting campaign a few years ago when their main model, who’s a minor, was shown in a very sexually suggestive way in a hot tub, all across billboards in the entire country, I was so mad. I’m all up for girls exploring their bodies and feel empowered by their sexuality, but it’s not up to a clothing company to use this to their advantage by sexualizing these young girls.

I also appreciate you emphasizing how authors who allow their characters to explore their sexualities help young people to feel less crucified by doing it themselves. 

I mostly wonder what form of sexualization you feel these characters are going through in this fandom? I haven’t seen Dru getting any bad treatment - I might have just missed it, but it’s also possible that I haven’t considered something as sexualizing, and that’s why I would really want to know what you mean and feel.

About Kitty: I understand your frustration as a queer teen, to see a ship like Kitty gets so much sexual hype around them. Especially considering how queer reps are looked at as sexual automatically, which like I previously said - is highly dangerous. Straightforward sexual descriptions of such young boys are obviously problematic and highly uncomfortable to encounter. I’m not sure I’ve seen as much here like in fics in ao3... but here the situation is quite different. 

As far as I’ve seen, most of the more sexual content related to this ship circles around the older versions of Kit and Ty. Now, some people think that aging up characters in fanfiction is morally wrong. That it’s an excuse to sexualize minors and that it’s the work of sexually frustrated old ladies. I think it’s ignorant, offending, and dangerous to say. 

I, for instance, write Kitty fanfiction. I don’t write about them at 15, I’m more interested in exploring what the time they spent apart could emotionally lead them to be as young men. Is it okay for them to be sexually active in those situations? in my opinion, yes. They are no longer the Kit and Ty you know, and they’re old enough to be allowed to follow this narrative in a healthy way. Am I writing them because of some depraved need to write them as sexual? No, I often just let them pine over each other. I and probably many fanfic writers, write because we feel hallowed by the way the story ended and need to creatively let our emotions out. I see nothing wrong with that.

So, my question to is - is that sexualizing a character? I don’t think so, but I’m not in yours or any other teen’s place. Maybe aging up characters makes you feel like you yourself are being forced to age up. I can’t say, and I’m not entitled to, it’s not my place. All I can say is let’s all try to be more considerate and cautious with our words and actions, knowing that there’s a lot of eyes reading them, and maybe affected or even hurt by them. And by all, I mean all of us, no matter our age.

WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO WRITE WHEN IT COMES TO SHIPPING?: I love all of it, really - the fluffy, soft things, the domestic life, the first kisses, the crushes, the smut, the dramatic falling outs and the angst. The various AUs that can be made from it. I just love exploring the concept of my favorite ships experiencing everything that comes with ships. Even if it feels like I’m writing the same love story over and over, I just adore it.

HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE?: Lucie is young, in The Last Hours, she’s sixteen, though I will play her in younger years and older years as I do the majority of my muses. I prefer to stick with people in her age group - her elder brother is seventeen and I don’t think she’d personally go with anyone much older than him. Though, when it comes to Jesse, being he has two ages, as he puts it, seems to be the sole exception since he died close to that age. Even when she’s an adult, she probably wouldn’t go much higher than two or three years older, maximum. But that’s just my thoughts.

ARE YOU SELECTIVE WHEN SHIPPING?: I say I’m selective but then every time someone plays a character I’d ship with my muses I’m like face against the glass at them it’s shameful. I’ve been scrolling through some Shadowhunters Chronicles blogs (because a few always end up popping up in my recommended section; lol, my love for this universe will never die) and I keep seeing posts about Dru and Ash possibly having romantic feelings towards each other in TWP (though it’s already been made clear that Ash already feels something for Dru). And I’m over here like: have you people forgotten about Jamie? Dru and Jamie?

I remember Cassie answering an ask on her tumblr, a long time ago, saying Jamie comes back in TWP and Dru is older and feelings change.

Fuck yes. I ship it. I am ride or die even though there is sparsely any proof for romance between them at all.

QOAAD

*SPOILERY REVIEW/THOUGHTS* 

I finished QOAAD a couple days ago and I’ll say I have some mixed thoughts on it. I am somewhat disappointed tbh but it also DID have its moments.

I have to say I felt this book had too many POVs. I didn’t like that. I didn’t feel like they were all necessary. All the POVs only ended up with me feeling very disconnected from the story as a whole, and the characters, even my faves at times. I think the POVs where one part of the problem, the other I am not sure. Maybe Cassie has too many projects on her plate or idk but something impacted her writing. Not just for QOAAD but I felt it in Ghosts of the Shadow Market stories too. It had a few exceptions but compared to The Shadowhunter Academy short stories overall, they just weren’t as good. :/ As much as it pains me we gotta wait like 4 yrs for TWP maybe its a good thing? The onslaught of books may have passed and TWP will get more focus. Im just gonna tell myself this to get through the waiting time OTL. 

I will start with thoughts on Emma and Julian as they are the main characters. 

I like both Julian and Emma’s characters, but I think they lost me somewhere at some point in this series as a couple. I can’t say exactly when but reading QOAAD I realized I didn’t care for them as a couple. I’ve seen this is the case for many others too. Was I very intrigued where the parabatai curse would lead? Yes, but that’s it. Now the parabatai curse, I wasn’t too satisfied with how that played out. I kinda was and I kinda wasn’t. I guess I was expecting something bad to happen some consequences but the rune just burned away and that was that. I loved when Julian got his emotions back and went all into head of the institute since I was a child mode. Like I know my shit I know what I’m doing. Then Dru being like “good to have you back, I missed your lunatic schemes” xD I love Julian scheming ok, lol but like with emotions.

I gotta say one of my favorite things about TDA and what I felt like was one of its strong points is that togetherness the Blackthorns had as a family. My favorite thing about Julian was his love for his kids cause they are his kids!! BUT I just didn’t feel it in this book. When looking forward to QOAAD I was looking forward to how they were all going to deal with Livvy’s death. The kids where gonna need Julian so much but he just wasn’t there for them ALL throughout the book which was my BIGGEST disappointment. At first he wasn’t there because he took away his emotions and separated from them, then he got back and because he was emotionless he couldn’t be there for Ty when Ty reached out to him clearly troubled and broken. Now, I don’t blame him. He was emotionless after all, but after he did get them back I feel like he didn’t make the effort to be there for them. It was like he didn’t remember the way Ty reached out to him before and the things he said to him about his plan. After he got his emotions he was all busy with the Horace-Cohort situation and his situation with Emma but what about the KIDS JULES?! ;_;  It was Ty who again sought him but he didn’t really try to pay attention to what was going on with him, during and after their little convo. It felt like

Jules: ok im here btw 

Ty: K

Jules: K 

And that was it. He never found out about the necromancy or biting and just *sigh*. At least the biting is something he should’ve and would’ve noticed as Dru pointed out. Everyone was on their own basically and then in the end he and Emma are going on a travel vacay. Like what?! There was Helen but Helen is not Julian. She is trying to get to know them but Julian is the one who is basically their parent. There are 2 things I loved about Julian best, one was his willingness to do what needed to be done, and second was his care for his family and like I said, I did not feel it here. :[  I’ll say I do love Julian’s character, and more than Emma’s actually. Emma is just fine, but there is a lot more going on with Julian. Though neither are my faves in this series. But I love Julian xD 

THULE: ok so I was sobbing during this part. I couldn’t control my tears. All this broke my heart when we found out about how everyone’s fates turned out. I felt so sad for Livvy all alone there. Everything was just so tragic ;_;. I do found myself wanting for the POV to switch to see their friends and family freaking out about what happened to Emma and Julian. I’ll say it didn’t make sense to me how Ash went into Thule only like 5 minutes before Jemma and he aged up yrs yet Jules and Emma where there for a pretty long time too and nothing?? It was another reason I wanted the POVs to switch I was wondering if yrs where passing by in their world or what. I’ll say I did enjoy the pain and hurt Thule gave me lol. It was one of those moments where like I didn’t felt disconnected with the characters at all. I was very much feeling all the feels but it also felt like I left QOAAD and was thrust back into CoHF. It felt too much like TMI it was kind of a whiplash, like from TDA i went back to TMI then TDA again. 0.0  

Now to my faves

Ash!: He was one of my favorite things of this book! His character was so interesting. I have high hopes for his character. He is probably not all good or all bad but what I’ve seen of him from boy to teen he is more good and human than meets the eye. Cassie Cassie Cassie! Do we really need a 3rd evil Morgenstern? No, No Nope! He deserves the chance Sebastian never had! </3. ;_;

The way he shook when he was holding that sword with the Unseelie King when he was trying to make him kill Kieran. He clearly didn’t want to and not only that, he questioned WHY, like he thought you can’t just kill someone just because. Then in Thule we had Thule Dru talk about how she noticed he didn’t want to be there for Thule Sebastian’s executions, among the rest of things that happened there.

Now Ash and Dru, omg PLS I ship already! I cant wait for them!  

Ty and Kit!: My other faves, my babies. I am the most invested in them! I just knew they were going to be separated at the end of this. I had a feeling. Then they made that “To never being parted” declaration in the campfire and I knew for sure oh no, they are gonna part. ;_; Their fight in Lake Lyn broke my heart a little bit, tears were shed. It particular broke my heart how while they were both physically fighting, they were crying about it and the whole situation. Though I’ll say I also did like that Kit went to live with Jem and Tessa <3. I feel like he is in the process of finding himself as a shadowhunter and just as a person too. I love that Jessa will be like his family. I cant wait for Jessa being parents! Also the arc of them separating only to meet again yrs later with so much unsaid ugh I cant wait for them either OTL. I could drown myself in feels thinking about all the different scenarios in which they might meet again. ;_; Oh! When they were in the campsite and Kit was wondering why Ty didn’t went inside the tent with him right away was everything. His mind was just reeling with TY scenarios it was the cutest. 

I have to say I hope TY, KIT, and DRU, as they are our main characters are given priority in TWP no 10+ POVs PLS. (Ash gotta be in the POVs though ofc.) We only have 3 books with them. They deserve the focus so we can connect with them the most. Heck if there is no more than 4/5 POVs even better. We can get to know other and new characters without being in their heads as we got to love Ty without his POV in TDA. 

Mark, Kieran, Christina: Other characters I love too. What can I say? I love that this threesome happened. I think the initial delivery coulda been better, but I loved their ending. When I say their initial delivery I mean their coming together as 3. I LOVED that spark they had in LOS when we first could see that there could be something between the 3 of them like ‘OMG what?!’. But in QOAAD I feel like I didn’t get like a full understanding of how and why Kristina and Kieran came to love each other. We could all see the love, feelings, and intense connection between Mark and Kieran since LOS. Also the connection between Mark and Christina, but with Kieran and Christina I feel like it needed more development. They were suddenly very into each other when they hadn’t spent much time together after LOS events and Kieran left with Diego. I’ll say what did help that a bit was that it was actually pointed out by Christina herself, saying how what they might have (Kier+Tina) is probably not close to the connection Mark and Kieran do. Despite this I love how it eventually concluded with the three of them. It was bittersweet, like Kieran my boy <3 ;__; but I liked it very much. Have I said how much I specifically love Kieran and Mark because I do!!

Lastly, woah I did not see that coming with the clave leaving Idris. I’m shocked  they even agreed to that considering how prideful they are of their home. It is also like a safety cocoon for them. Im still processing, this is a huge change. It will be so interesting where the shadowhunter world goes from here.

"I have not tried this waistcoat still" Anna Lightwood thought eyeing the sea green waistcoat-- She thought about the day, when first time her parents encouraged her to be what she actually want.. while thinking this, she started to put on her outfit for today's night. "Today's gonna be special", she muttered. Today she decided to go to a new place in town, a sort of club, which Matthew was excitedly telling to her for somedays. He absolutely liked the place. Anna personally believed, London rises in night. The whole city seemed to have being alive by some enchantment at night. She loves London nights. While thinking all this, she strode thought the stairs. "Going out??" , a feminine voice rang behind her. "Mother", Anna turned, " yes, I am going and will be back in the morning ", she said giving her dazzling smile. "Be careful sweetheart", Cecily kissed her forehead and bade her goodbye. Anna emerged in the living night, for her today's adventure.

The place was called " Midnight's Children". Nice name, thought Anna. She entered the club then. It was a gothic style place, with couches of black , silver and red. Dark velvet curtains were around. While, she walking, she noticed two downworlders were eyeing her desirably. "Werewolves probably", she thought. She half hoped to see Mathew, but didn't have luck. He has places to go, she knew. She set her in a couch comfortably, which was neither too isolated, nor too near in the commotion. People were dancing in the mid stage. She was aware many people were eyeing her. She just ignored. "New here?", a voice snapped her thoughts, a pretty girl with raven black hair just seated by her. "I didn't remember, inviting you to sit by me" she said. "No, you don't and also you don't own this place" other girl said. There is something in her tone which make Anna not to ignore her. I turned to the girl and said "yes, I'm new to this place, but not to this kind of place".... Other girl smiled and Anna saw her canines..."You are a vampire" ...The girl hold her finger in v sign... "Right guess newbie, I am Lily Chen.. I'm also new here and who are you??" Anna paused and said "Hello Lily, I'm Anna.. Anna Lightwood". "Nephiliam" exclaimed Lily in amusement... "You people are rare to come here..,and I think that after yesterday you absolutely should not come here." ..."What do you mean to..." Anna's word remained unfinished as a huge werewolf with some other come to her. "Nephiliam, you are not welcome here, so we order you to leave immediately". There was some rudeness and trifling in his voice, that irritated Anna... She countered "I am not going to take orders from you else you are the owner??? If not then get lost" ....the werewolf said dirtyly "you are not going to take your lessons, little nephiliam. Now today you will know, what we can do" and lunged for her. Anna instantly took her silver dagger out from its hidden place but, there were too many.... She attacked the big one who was bragging and suddenly there were a commotion...she looked in astonishment that Lily was fighting ferociously with the other werewolves... The big werewolf was distracted and using this diversion Anna, attacked him and make severe injury... The whole scene was a blur, suddenly a hand griped her and someone said to her "run"... Just unable to think what to do, she run, which was very much unlikely shadowhunter . After some steps, she saw Lily, gripping her hand and running with her. She stopped abruptly, turning to Lily..."What the hell happened here, I don't understand..." , "Not now, you will know later. But currently, thanks to your awesome nephiliam smell, we are out of that nice place, which is definitely a shame...and I don't want to let this night go like this. I like a place", she stopped and asked Anna "will you want to go with me??? Usually I am pretty harmful, but I somehow like you, and probably won't harm you" .... After being silent for sometime, she said " let's see Lily, what you have in your sleeve".. Lily smiled brightly "here you go Lightwood"...

They had come to a small place covered with railing near the London bridge. Thames water flows there and Lily found a high place, where they can sit. Both of them sat cross-legged. Anna first noticed the day was a full moon. Moon had it's bright reflection on water making everything silvery... She thought about Lily, how she helped her today... Some spoilery opinions on QOAAD

- First things first I need to talk about the one thing that's been bothering me all along. Yes, you guessed right, it's the parabatai curse. LM and LoS raised my anxiety level on this issue so high I didn't even know how to handle it. I honestly couldn't imagine how Cassie brings Emma and Julian together without stripping their marks. Imagine my little disappointment when things turned out the way they did. I mean, I LOVE Jules and Emma and I am happy that they can be together at last, but... you know, I feel like there should have been more explanation done on the issue of the curse. Like why did their love conquer it all, but in all those years married couples weren't able to overcome the curse. It just seems a little unrealistic to me. And why did their runes just disappear? I would've expected a little more information on that one.

But ok, I love them and I'm happy for them and I will come around.. eventually.

Also I kind of missed the tension between Jules and Emma that was present in LM and LoS. Mainly because of the "no feelings" spell on Julian, but I would have expected more feelings from Emma. More hurt about the situation.

- The whole Alicante thing confuses me so much. Like... why? Why would the cohort lock themselves up in Alicante? They can't fight demons like this which makes them no true shadowhunters. It's kind of stupid and I hope there will be more explaining in The Wicked Powers.

- Kierarktina... wow. Never would have thought they would be end game. I've never read anything quite like this before and don't know what I'm feeling and if I like it. But I think I do. I enjoyed this love triangle a lot and am probably just too shocked right now to know my feelings.

- Ty and Kit. The fairy blood thing with Kit still confuses me a little. I can't believe Livvy's ghost is tied to Ty. My sweet precious Ty. I somehow wish she'd just rest in peace and he would move on with the help of Kit by his side. The tragic ending of Kitty is something I am so sad about. How dare you Cassandra? My heart is broken.

- I somehow didn't care as much about Helen and Aline in this book as I did in the others. They were boring me.

- Dru. Through the first half of the book I was confused why Dru never really appeared much in the book, she's an interesting character and I like her a lot. So I was pleased to see more of her in the second half because I feel like people don't give her enough credit. She's smart and brave and deserves more. ALSO I SHIP HER WITH ASH HARDCORE. And with Jaime, a little bit😄

- I wish we would have more story to Ash, because his appearances were very brief and not so important. Till the last page I wondered what happened to him.

- Thule. I actually enjoyed the alternate universe twist very much. It was fun and interesting to read of what could've been. I actually thought Livvy would come with Emma and Jules, especially when Cameron oh so conveniently died in the silent city since he was the love interest that I thought was holding her back. But nope, didn't happen. I'm not sure if I'm disappointed or glad. A little bit of both I guess.

- Alec and Magnus... what do I say? I love them so much and the wedding was beautiful.

- Thule Jace at the end of the book... meh. I mean, it's cool and all, but like "do we need another Clace book?" Forgive me, but I don't need more of them. They should stay in TMI where they belong. Okay that sounds rude since I do like them, but I've had enough of them already🤷🏼‍♀️😅

- Also Annabel deserved a decent storyline. I feel like there was so much going on about her in the last books that in this one she felt like a shadow of herself.

- I was so glad Emma got Cortana back😭 and I think I'm gonna celebrate the day when Zara dies.

- Jem and Tessa ARE HAVING A BABY. Wow. I did not see that coming.

- Emotionless Julian. I really didn't like him. I missed my old precious sweet Julian and wished the time when he had no emotions was shorter.

- The bonus Clace scene at the end was wonderful and nice even if I'm tired of them, i liked it.

All right that's all I remember for now, but I might edit later. I know it seems like I'm only criticising here, but I genuinely loved the story regardless of everything and will enjoy rereading it in the future.

December End of the Year Media Madness!

It’s a new month and a new year! And what a crazy month it was what with Tumblr imploding and all. But I’ll still throw this on here just because I’ll be on this site until it literally boots me out. But I do have a twitter now…@metalandmagi where I’m also barely active at all.

Anyway, why make top 10 lists for the entire year when I can just ramble about all the media I consumed this month? There’s only a marginal amount of holiday things on here by my standards!

Give me some credit there’s only four Christmas movies on here.

Won’t You Be My Neighbor?: A documentary about Mr. Rogers starting with the birth of the television show to his death. This is the fluffiest most heartwarming thing I could have possibly picked to watch on Christmas, and I encourage everyone, even people who hate documentaries and/or never grew up with Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, to watch it. There’s a lot of important messages about acceptance, dealing with tragedy, and mental health that people can learn from and feel good about. Not to mention how he completely revolutionized children’s television. So yeah, he was awesome.10/10

Spider-man Into the Spider-verse: When a rip between dimensions is opened, a bunch of different spider themed superheroes from every comic fan’s wet dreams all get together to close it. Guys I’m not that big of a Spider-man fan, but dang this movie was a ton of fun. I came for the amazing visual effects and stayed for the amazing...everything else. The music, the performances, and the story were all top notch. Also I now have a new favorite Nick Cage role. If you thought the trailer made the animation look interesting, it was just the tip of the iceberg because it is the most visually interesting movie I’ve seen in the last three years. I strongly suggest any fan of animation...or even any fan of great stories and movies in general go see it even if you’re not that big on Spider-Man. Now I’m demanding a Spider-verse Aunt May movie because I have so many questions! And the post credits scene was the best out of any Marvel movie. Period. 10,000/10

The Wiz (2015 musical): I should start making a section for musicals or plays instead of just lumping it in with the movies. It’s the Wizard of Oz...but cool. I’ve never seen any iteration of The Wiz and it seems like I’m constantly hearing about it. So I watched the 2015 version of the 1975 Broadway musical that NBC aired. And yeah it’s good. There were some great performances. But I wasn’t very impressed with the songs themselves, and it’s not really the same without a dog along for the ride, but whatever. 7.5/10

Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle: The surprisingly fun reboot/sequel thing of Jumanji where four teenagers get stuck in a video game that follows every “stuck in a video game” trope you can imagine but actually does it well. It’s a sweet, funny romp through the jungle with some great comedic performances. I really don’t have much to say about it except that this movie is better than it has any right to be. 8/10

The Christmas Chronicles: Two children stow away on Kurt Russell’s, I mean Santa’s sleigh and go on a dangerous, balls to the wall adventure throughout Chicago trying to save Christmas or something. After everyone started talking about how crazy this Netflix movie is I had to watch it to verify if it is indeed as wild as they said. And yes...yes it is. It is so laughably ridiculous and questionable that it’s impossible to actually hate. The elves are some unholy mixture of minions and gremlins, one of the children is a literal felon that no one is concerned about, and Kurt Russell is super into the role but has some sort of thing about fat-shaming Santa. I just...have so many questions! But it was certainly a trip, so I’d have to recommend it just so you too can witness the insanity. -10 “savvy, straight-talking St. Nicks”/10

Arthur Christmas: No, it’s not a Christmas special related to the aardvark cartoon! This is the 2011 animated movie that no one remembers exists. Santa’s clumsy but enthusiastic son Arthur must deliver a forgotten present in less than two hours while the rest of his family deals with some Arrested Development style family drama. This is by far the most underrated Christmas movie of all time; even I didn’t realize it was actually good until I watched it for the first time in 2016! The fun road-trip style plot and the entertaining characters were victims of bad marketing. Arthur is hilariously endearing, and there was so much heart and effort put into it that I can find new things to notice every time I watch it. Not to mention the amazingly animated opening spy sequence! And also Mrs. Claus is secretly a total badass and Bryony the elf is the coolest female character in a Christmas movie ever. The movie’s message of old vs new is nothing we haven’t seen before, but I really don’t care because at the heart of it all, it’s about making people happy on Christmas. If you’re like me and just assumed this movie would suck...or didn’t know it exists, please give it a chance. It’s not perfect, but it’s worth seeing. 9/10

Neo Yokio Pink Christmas: Yes, it’s the Christmas special for Neo Yokio. No I cannot accurately describe it with mere words. There’s a rich bachelor gift exchange, demon possession, and pompous French aunts slinging insults at each other. It is unironically my favorite holiday episode of a show ever, and to me it’s the best Christmas special ever made. I thought I was prepared for the absolute bat-shit ride I would go on, but no...I wasn’t even close. At this point I don’t know if it’s written like this on purpose or if some divine twist of fate made the executives believe this is truly brilliant television. Either way, it is a masterpiece in its own right. There’s even a somewhat intriguing plot and a message about gift giving and capitalism under all the crazy! If you haven’t jumped down the rabbit hole yet, I implore you to watch the insanity that is Neo Yokio and follow it up with Pink Christmas because it will truly make your holiday season. 100,000 demon DNA drugs out of 100,000!

Die Hard: Nothing says Christmas like terrorists taking over a skyscraper and Bruce Willis having to take them all down by himself. Yeah...so I’ve never seen Die Hard before, but this is one of those movies that is so famous that I felt like I’d already absorbed everything important through cultural osmosis. And even though it’s pretty good, I would have liked it better if I didn’t know what was going to happen. My only real complaint is that I think it goes on way too long. More than anything it just made me sad to remember that Alan Rickman is gone. And it bothers me so much that John McClane goes through this building that’s under construction WITHOUT SHOES! 8/10

Books!

The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis: The 4th/6th book in the Chronicles of Narnia, in which Eustace Scrubb and his classmate Jill Pole go to the underworld to find King Caspian’s long lost son. Even though my children- the Pevensies aren’t in it, I actually think this book is my favorite of the series so far. Jill and Eustace are both sassy enough to play off each other, Puddleglum absolutely hilarious, and the book actually has a clear cut plot! It reads much more like a Greek myth than a children’s fairy tale since there aren’t nearly as many of Lewis’s trademark author interjections, and you know...it’s a literal journey to the underworld. And can I just say that it’s super refreshing to have an author write two main characters WITH ZERO ROMANTIC INTENTIONS! Especially since they’re freaking children! Now I just wish Disney had continued the movies even more! 9/10

Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare: I’m going to do this with only minor spoilers. It’s the final book in The Dark Artifices trilogy. Will Emma and Julian break the parabatai bond? Will the reflection of the modern day American government- I mean the Cohort/ the Clave fuck up the relationships between Shadowhunters and Downworlders forever? You’ll have to suffer like the rest of us to find out! In my opinion, 99% of this book is amazing, but in the last 50 pages there are some...bullshit ways of solving problems. Like everything that went down with the Cohort in Idris. Not to mention we’ve been so invested in the parabatai curse and how Julian and Emma’s bond would go down and...let’s just say the resolution was way too easy. And if you thought Clare’s other finales were jam packed, you ain't seen nothin’ yet. My copy is 880 pages and there was still more stuff that I wanted to happen...like any sort of scene between Dru and Ash...or an ending between Kit and Ty that doesn’t make me want to cry (the Wicked Powers is going to be brutal). But the rest of that 99% is mind-blowing! There’s so much good I can say that it mostly outranks anything I didn’t like...I mean we finally got a Malec wedding and a proper polyamorous relationship for the Angel’s sake! It may be my least favorite of her finales by default but it was still a fun ride! 9/10

TV shows!

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (2018): An elite soldier finds a sword that can transform her into a super buff magical girl who helps princesses take down the forces of evil. It’s a reboot of the 1980s cartoon, and holy crap it’s AMAZING! I have a whole new group of children to adopt, each episode is entertaining in its own way, and there’s so...many...good...ships! And it gives Steven Universe a run for its money with the care that went into making every character a different kind of warrior, which I love because the cast is 99% female. My only real complaint is that I never warmed up to Catra because she wasn’t particularly sympathetic to me from the beginning. But I understand why some people love her. If you love well crafted adventurous character driven cartoons and haven’t watched it yet WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?  10/10

Nailed It Holiday: Yes, my favorite baking show (and by that I mean the only baking show I watch) has a holiday season out on Netflix, in which newbie bakers are tasked with making incredibly professional desserts with a very short time limit. And whoever makes the best treat gets 10,000 dollars. I’ve talked about this show before in my June media madness, and I don’t know what it is but I’m so addicted to it. 10/10

Brooklyn nine-nine (season 5): Come on we all know the cop sitcom. It’s the best sitcom. Just in general it’s the best. Great characters that subvert expectations, great humor, and a lot of heart. I’ve known that this show is supposed to be amazing for years, but I only started watching it a few months ago. And since I couldn’t find season 5 anywhere...I got a Hulu subscription just to watch it before season 6 comes out. That’s how good this show is. 10/10

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (season 2): Our favorite underdog comedian is back, and she’s slowly gaining popularity and doing...stuff. Like going on tour. And hanging out with Zachary Levi. Yes, this season is great, but my problem with this series is that every character aside from Midge and Susie are the fucking worst, especially the parents. Midge’s parents suck, Joel’s parents suck, Midge and Joel are appropriately neglectful parents for the time period...I could go on. And it’s not even in a funny way; like it’s just disgusting to watch these power dynamics. Not to mention how old the comedic bits for the parents get (how many times can we hear about Joel needing to date or Midge needing to get married?!) Yes, I realize that we’re supposed to be annoyed AND YES I realize that this is a product of culture and how society was, but none of the parents have any redeeming qualities. In episode one, we’re led to believe that Midge’s parents will grow and change through the season and they never do! At least there are moments where Joel can kind of be redeeming and expand on his actual character before he reverts back to being an asshole. Anyway, my thoughts are pretty much the same as the first season. It’s funny and interesting to watch, but it can be ridiculously frustrating when you hate almost all the characters!  8/10

Fuller House (season 4): Yes I do watch the ridiculous Netflix reboot of Full House. And yes, it is absolutely terrible! I really really hate it! But will I stop watching it? Let’s just say you can pry this pile of garbage from my cold dead hands. I don’t know if I’d call this a guilty pleasure or a hate watch type of show... it’s certainly not so bad it’s good territory like Neo Yokio...but Full House was pretty much my entire childhood. And yes, the original show is also not great. I loved it as a kid, and it was my first real exposure to a non-traditional family in live action, but yeah it doesn’t age well. What I’m trying to say is...I have no good reason for watching this.

I don’t mean to say that there’s nothing good about it, especially this season. They really back off on the more cringe-worthy catch phrases, Stephanie being aware of how stupid the writing is and constantly pointing it out is actually funny, their Christmas episode was surprisingly genuine, and they impressed me by actually make two female characters try and work through their difficulties instead of pitting them against each other for laughs. It has its moments, just like the original but definitely not enough to make up for the worst of it. Maybe this generation of children will like it the way lots of my generation used to like Full House...but yeah it’s awful, I hate it so much. -1 missing Tanner child out of 3

Voltron Legendary Defender (season 8) SPOILERS: It’s the final season of Netflix’s Voltron, and boy it was...something. I didn’t want to make this a big rant/defense of the show...but I feel like I have to highlight some things because this fandom is a shithole that refuses to see the good in anything.

There is so much good and so much...not good I can say about it, so here’s a couple things. I know this show didn’t go the direction anyone wanted, but that doesn’t make it bad. In addition to the stunning fight scenes and music, the performances this season were just amazing! I literally wanted to cry every other episode even though sometimes I didn’t know why the fuck something was happening. I don’t know how I feel about Honerva’s plan. I understand her motivation, but I was constantly questioning how we got from point A to point B... so yeah the plot and writing could be...weird at times. Also everyone seemed to have super pointy chins this season...

Spoiler alert: Not many of us wanted Lance and Allura to happen, but I truly believe it wasn’t done in a half assed way. At the very least, I appreciate that they had a genuine bond that developed over so many seasons. BECAUSE YES IT DID! Anyone who says they had no development or that it felt forced never paid attention. I wanted it to stay platonic; I wanted Klance to happen, but...I can’t be too mad at the writers because they at least tried. I still believe that Klance was endgame and the creators were forced to change the outcome of the show later on. AND YES LANCE DID GET A CHARACTER ARC! It may not have been the one we wanted to see, but I’m baffled that people think Lance living with his family, surrounded by people he loves-which is what he wanted all along- is not a happy ending. I just wish his relationship with Keith wasn’t pretty much ignored all season. But I believe Allura is his past that taught him to genuinely love and Keith is his future who will make Lance his “first choice”. And I’m not even gonna try to explain how I feel about Shiro and Allura’s endings because everything I feel is so complicated and layered. There is good and there is bad.

TLDR: This show teaches us that we’re stronger together, and I think the “fandom” completely missed the point because they do nothing but tear others down and refuse to look at things from other perspectives. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO NOT LIKE IT, BUT YOU DON’T HAVE THE RIGHT TO TAKE AWAY OTHER PEOPLE’S ENJOYMENT AND BE A DICK ABOUT IT. It may not have been everything I wanted, but I’m glad I went on this ride. Besides, there are canonically infinite realities so there’s got to be a reality where all your dreams for the show come true. As a season, I’d say it’s a 7.5/10.

I’m watching Superstore because when another sitcom comes on before The Good Place, why not? Also since I finished season 5 of Brooklyn 99 I had to use my Hulu subscription for something.

Lord of Shadows Review & Analysis! SPOILERS AHEAD, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK

On another note about spoilers, I get that seeking out spoilers as well as snippets, are a product of waiting so long for the next book… but I don’t know that I will treat them the same way going into QOAAD because I almost felt, while reading, that I had read 35% of the book already! I can’t promise that I won’t seek out spoilers or snippets, but I do hope that less are released over the next two years (I know that sounds ridiculous, but I would prefer a surprise!) With Regards to Individual Characters: • Emma: a feminist badass, growing into being the best shadowhunter of her time but not there yet. Her sarcasm and skill has improved since LM, and I literally laughed out loud during her POV’s and while reading her quotes. The scene with her and Diego and the fire ants= pure gold. Her scene with Manuel and calling out the cohort for being fascists= pure gold. • Julian: a sweetheart and I want to cry thinking about how much he has been through. I know “Dark Julian” has been referenced several times throughout the fandom but I really didn’t see too much of a change until- actually- the steamy scene with Emma where he demands that she calls him only Julian. Very sexy, very dark too. • Cristina: deserves better and I am dying for more of her POV’s. I am always amazed by her class and maturity. • Diego: not perfect. I am mad at him. • Kit: surprisingly likeable. I am so glad they included POV’s with him and Jace!! • Livia: underrated as hell, so sweet, so caring, so selfless, her charm and sarcasm= gold. • Ty: I AM SO GLAD WE ARE FINALLY STARTING TO SEE T Y B L A C K T H O R N AND HIS TRUE SELF-A M E N. • Dru- her crush on Jaime is fitting for a first crush and I’m glad he gave her the confidence to speak up. I want to hug her literally all the time. • Tavvy- irrelevant but cute. SHIPS: • I surprisingly loved Mark and Emma’s dynamic. Their relationship reminded me of a mundane high school sweetheart kind of relationship, because you can tell they absolutely care about each other, I just don’t see them as anything more than a bromance. I will however agree with the sentiment, "maybe in another life" because maybe, in another series, in another world, they would have been perfect for each other. • Kieran/Mark/Cristina: I find it significant that no choices were made in terms of canon relationships, which I interpret as a canon friendship because if any of them were going to be romantically involved, a decision would be made by now. I enjoy the friendship they have, I surprisingly forgave Kieran, but I do not expect any of the Blackthorns or Emma to forgive him also. His actions in QOAAD will definitely define how I feel about him going forward. • JEMMA: You all know I am 100% a Jemma shipper, but this time around I was glad that their relationship did not overshadow the rest of the book. I liked how private their relationship was, which is a funny word to use because people become more privy to it in LOS and because it was extremely private in LM, but the fact that they were literally in a different part of their country on their own made me all happy. • I am also glad that I got the B&N copy with the extra scene, which I waited to read because it is right after the ending of the book and I did not want to read anything after finishing LOS, lol. • Kitty: No canon romantic relationship yet, still very cute scenes… Ill talk about this in theories. • Kit/Livia: I am glad that Livvy’s first kiss was Kit, and not some random boy who won’t treasure the memory or look back and think “oh she was sweet, it’s a shame what happened to her”. Kit will always treasure the fact that he was Livia’s first kiss, and will cherish the friendship he had with her. It was platonic, but still special. I know people on tumblr were upset with this but I hope by the end of the book they understood. PROFOUND THINGS IN LOS • Lets talk about the fact that Emma Carstairs literally doesn’t cry….. but she cried over Julian literally 400 times in Lord of Shadows. If that doesn’t show you how much she literally loves that boy idk what will. • CLARY SHIPS JEMMA. During their conversation Clary literally says “who I pictured you with [not Mark or Cameron] doesn’t make sense….” This goes back to my question to CC about whether or not Simon knows about Jules and Emma, since he noticed something off during the parabatai ceremony. She responded “he knows something, he just doesn’t know what he knows”. I think the same applies to Clary, maybe she has even had premonitions about it, and that is so so significant. #jemmaisendgame • Kit and Livia and Ty’s friendship: so sweet and pure and is literally the reason why Kit decides to stay. How will Ty and Kit function without their third musketeer? • DRU & JAIME: Thank you Jaime for giving Dru the confidence to confront her family over her role as a Shadowhunter… but the witchlight you left behind that literally portals to another dimension: WTF? WHO IS ASH????? That scene is messed up because it is so short and therefore, subconsciously everyone looks over it because of how chaotic everything else is. I can’t help but feel like this is going to play a MASSIVE role in QOAAD. • Diana & Gwyn: Thank you CC for trans representation and a beautiful story. The fact that Gwyn accepts her wholeheartedly made my chest ache, and I hope that no one will use it against her please please please. • Jules & Emma’s Decision to tell the Inquisitor: Not sure why they did this tbh, but now that Robert is dead, what are their options??? Did he mark it down somewhere? Will they become so irrational that they consider the Seelie Queen’s offer? Livia’s Death • Months ago I received an anon message from someone about Livvy, which literally said that they felt something was going to happen to her and I completely dismissed it…. Thinking we haven’t seen enough of her storyline yet and it was too soon. I AM SO SORRY, and it’s literally all I have been thinking about for days. • Livia was so so selfless, down to her core, the last moments of her life were spent trying to save the people she loves. • I discussed with a mutual that the fact that Annabel did it was both cruel and also extremely fitting. • When you think about it, Livvy was the 21st century version of Annabel. From their appearance, which was remarkably similar, to the way that they treated outsiders taking refuge in their family (Livvy with Kit, Annabel with Malcolm) down to their deaths, both innocents killed trying to protect the ones they love. • The fact that the Mortal Sword shattered to me symbolized the end of the truth and trust within the Clave. • The amount of guilt that each character will carry following these deaths is heartbreaking… • i sincerely hope her death is not tossed to the side, discussed for 150 pages then only mentioned 4-5 times after that because she deserved better, the entire Blackthorn family did, and peace was completely ripped away from them Which brings me to my first theory: I believe there was a reason that Jessamine was introduced to TDA, not only to highlight Kit’s Herondale-ness, but also as a foreshadowing of another character who is not at peace, feels that there is unfinished business, and a group of people needing to be protected: Livia. Because it was made clear in the book that necromancy and raising the dead is forbidden, and because QOAAD takes place a week later, Livvy’s chances of being raised are very very very slim. I sincerely believe that she will come back, but not to life. It would be fitting of her to come back as a ghost (not at first but definitely later in the story) and for her to protect her family, and give Kit and Ty the OK to do whatever they want to do (whether its be a couple or become parabatai, or go to the Scholomance) More theories: • Though I predict a dark Julian, I do not predict a dark/irredeemable Julian, who digs himself into such a big hole that he can’t climb out of it. Remember he has two anchors: his family, and Emma… • The Rosales brothers, especially with their plans to overthrow the Cohort and fool Zara are going to play a massive role in QOAAD. • I think that Jemma are going to have to confide in Jem and Tessa, and they will end up helping Jules and Emma with the parabatai curse. I am also sure they will play a big role in the next book. • Unpopular Opinion: I do not think Clary will die. I know she thinks she will, but CC did say QOAAD is lighter (in regards to themes) than LOS, and I just do not think it would be a lighter book if Clary, a significant character, dies. I think she will become close to death, and people will become concerned, then she will tell Jace of her fears and say yes to his proposal. However, I could very well be wrong!! •i do predict the Cohort being in power for a short amount of time….. because they represent members of our society, I do not think they will be shut down so easily because that’s not realistic. Despite this, hope and love always win. I trust that this will remain true in the next book. • I do predict the end of the Cold Peace, it was never ever a good idea and no one likes it. • I predict that Drusilla will be a hero, now that her older sister has passed away and she has finally decided to step up as a Shadowhunter, I do not doubt that the role she plays will be significant, it just seems to be a reasonable underdog story. • Kitty: parabatai or lovers? An important decision, because Kit does reference his thoughts about being parabatai with Ty, and Ty finally says yes to being parabatai with Livvy. I think it’s a possible “that’s what Livvy would have wanted” trope, but I could also be wrong and think its about as equal of a chance of them becoming lovers. • Who will the new head of the LA Institute be? I sincerely doubt it will go to someone the Blackthorns do not know or trust. They have had so much taken from them, the Institute does not deserve to go next. Possibly Cristina? Will Jules or Emma be of age? Jem or Tessa following the end of the Cold Peace? We have to see! • ASH… I am just frustrated that we do not know more about him… I don’t even have a theory I just needed an excuse to talk about him again. The ending really got me! • Anonymous: Do you think Jaime and Dru are endgame? She is 13 and hes like 17 but he thinks she’s 16. Idk, they seem to have a nice friendship but not a romantic relationship in my opinion.. ​ >> Agreed! I honestly think CC included this first crush idea as a way of introducing Dru’s further character development, not necessarily to introduce them as a couple… But also think about Cecily and Gabriel!!! They were about the same ages at the time, even though that was a different time period��� anything is possible, but I do not ship them romantically! • VirginaNewman: I loved LOS, however I was indeed disappointed that Helen + Aline make a debut in the LAST chapter! ​ >> I definitely thought Helen and Aline would play a larger role in LOS, they were barely mentioned, barely had any scenes… I was disappointed by their small role too, but I am interested to see how hard they fight to stay in the next book. Ps- the scene where Aline basically tells Zara to shut her fucking mouth is GOLD. • Betweenshadesoftessagray- Since Robert’s dead, its going to be a race to get that spot, with probably Zara’s father trying to become Inquisior. And since Robert was the one who could help Emma and Julian with the exile thing, they really don’t know what to do with it. I think the powers will continue to grow, and since I think the main battle of QOAAd is going to be a battle where the warlocks and nephilim cannot use their runes/warlock magic, maybe their parabatai magic will still work and that’s how they win. I have already stated that I think there is going to be a battle in QOAAD without being able to use rune magic and the warlocks not being able to use their magic, but this didn’t fit in my other ask I just realized something that made my theory more solid: in the beginning, Zara says she went to Hungary because they were claiming their weapons were not working and she said it was incompetence, so the blight is already spreading not only in Idris but everywhere else. ​ >> This is such a well thought out theory and I wish I could give a formal response but I definitely need to go back, reread, and analyze this… I didn’t even realize the significance of Shadowhunters and warlocks including Magnus losing their powers!! Wow! Is this because of the Black Volume? I definitely think Emma and Julian’s parabatai/love powers will play a huge role in QOAAD and maybe even save the day during this second Dark War. Maybe that’s how they will become heros, their bond will be broken as a reward or something and everyone can live happier ever after? Hey so my friends don't ship Druash and I want to hack them into a little bits of flesh and bone so much but before they die I need to shove into their faces a list of reasons why they should ship Druash help (they ship Druaime like WHO DOES THAT HUH)

Admittedly I ship everyone with everyone (think about Ash and Jaime together) So everyone can ship anyone with anyone….

But Morgenthorn(lets not call them anyting that sounds like drash that reminds me trash) is the only ship I write pages and pages about Can you show these to your friends…

From a past ask: Why do people ship Dru with Ash:

That is one valid question since they haven’t even met yet. Its because Cassie has implied there is a possibility of a love triangle between Dru, Ash and Jaime. And she said several times both Jaime and Ash will have important roles to play in TWPSince Ty&Kit is a ship set to sailOnly other three people left are them. You know…Also small note on Dru’s first introduction said something like “she’ll have an interesting love story in the future.” before CoHF was released just before we learn Sebastian’s affair with the Queen. (she was eight and a thin girl in first drafts) But for me shipping Dru and Ash is purely based on characters.Here are my reasons why 1)They both grew up lonelyDru had her loving family but Julian always saw Emma as his other half and Ty Livvy. We know Livvy was the sibling who spent most time with Dru but Ty being dependent on Livvy and their undying love always made Dru feel left out. Like in Los during those beautiful funny twin moments Kit felt lucky to be involved he also observed how much Dru was left out. So Dru hold on to Tavvy more tightly and read books watched movies more. Because you can do those things alone too.How happy she was when Kit and Ty wanted to let her be involved in their schemes in Qoaad Ash was always alone as far as we were shown because first his mother kept him away to hide his existence. Then unseelie king locked him on that tower, put Raiders of the Mannan as his guardians. Ash never had friends of his own age and any other noble child of court wouldn’t go near him because of the spell(and they probably weren’t allowed).2)They’re both good actors. If you saw my asks about how all twp characters were morally gray then you know what I meanDru unwaveringly lied to Barnabas Hale’s face and then kept it cool when he made that disgusting kinky comment about “her curves”. I wanted to strange the guy but our 13 years old Drusilla was all bussiness. She also hid Jaime in London institute for days with Noone noticing. Ash openly turned a blind eye to Emma and Julian not being endarkened in that nightclub scene. During his unseelie scenes Emma pointed out how cold and calculating he was even at age 12-13. But that was about his survival King kept him as a prisoner. 3) They grew up over protected with not much of choices of their own. Dru due to Julian’s inability to let other people in the Blackthorns life’s because of Arthurs illness. Ash spent his first 13 years locked up in Seelie court first and unseelie court second. Wearing a crown  holding a title, being heir to the both thrones was nothing compared to not being able to decide what he wanted to do. Ash was expandable if he wasn’t to do what King wants like any prisoner. He never had a chance to decide for himself even in Thule where Annabel dragged him to another cage keys held by Sebastian this time. Again prince, recpected, feared but not free. 4)They’re both have strong emphaty Dru always helped Julian with Tavvy even though she herself was 8(yes Julian was 12 but there wasn’t someone older than him). She understood Ty was different but the good kind and she gave Ty&Livvy the space they needed and she was not jealous.Ash described Dru’s mental state so accurately I felt liked someone just hit me. Even Julian or Livvy would never do such an observation (if they did they’d know she needed more people in her life)

Dru turned out to be an outgoing person an entrepreneur like Jia said and she’s free to move away to make friends, rise and shine amongst her peers. And Ash broke his cage in a way when he choose to help Emma so he’ll be able to do more choosing in his life Thule Jace abd Seelie Queen will play effective roles but he’s not a child anymore and surely can defy tyrants.

From what we know from drawing scene he’ll see Dru as a symbol of hope and a friend coz she’s probably closest to a friend he ever had.

Lastly when they met in Los Dru’s open defying made Ash smile because that doesn’t happen muchI see a paralel here with Auraline-Roland Herondale she fell in love with him because he made her laugh.All these powers Ash has makes life harder for him(like it did to Auraline) and he already had enough suffering but as long as the powers will threat him and others it isn’t very likely he’ll smile much.

Dru would find him interesting when she gets over his all over copy of Sebastian looks. Dru was the only one who saw Sebastian besides Emma and Tmi gang and survived. Ash’s smile brought back that memory for Dru but she didn’t remembered it was Sebastian’s.

Also there is that weird travel to Unseelie which is not normally how Eternidad can be used (it was as if the stone wanted Dru to go to Ash maybe to bring him hope in the future). I can tag you to the post if you like to read

But these are all theories off course.

Still them being together and Dru being able to stop Ash if powers blow up is important (I mean she litterally did the same for Jemma in Qoaad). Because Noone can take all that responsibility alone he needs to be loved to be saved and Thule Jace’s love may not be enough to save him….
