Ghost Roaster Headcanons
Okay, since that last post/backstory got a lot of people interested, time to post some headcanons on the Roastmeister instead of answering a bunch of asks.
Yes, there’s a Read More. This got long. Again.
*Original name: Olav Ingle Ahlstrom. (for now, this is a work in progress, but something vaguely Scandinavian)
*Original species: Frost Elf
*Age before death: Early 30's, a rising star in the culinary arts.
*Sexuality: Grey ace demisexual. If you asked him directly, he'll shrug and be like "I'm mainly into food". Will joke that he's a little fruity because food humor.
*Before he turned, he was a famous celebrity chef in direct competition to Chef Pepper Jack and the two of them were rivals. Olav saw the rivalry all in good fun and regularly teased Chef Pepper Jack; Pepper Jack hated his ass and thought his methods were the work of a drooling imbecile.
*Olav's style of chef was a Guy Fieri type who regularly traveled the weirdest parts of Skylands and was sampling all sorts of funny dishes. He was an affable and funny weirdo who could make something edible out of ANYTHING and his books were a hit. His sheep wool pizza was actually amazing, even if it was hard to get exactly right.
*Olav and Chef Pepper Jack's rivalry was so strong and public that it's been often rumored that Chef Pepperjack KILLED Olav to explain Olav's sudden disappearance. To make matters worse, Chef Pepperjack has lied a couple times and flat out said "Yeah I killed that loser, he couldn't handle the heat!" just for the lolz.
*He knows that his name is Olav. Ghost Roaster tries to lie and say that he's not sure if he's the famous Olav because Olav is actually a somewhat common name for frost elves, but he has a horrible feeling deep in his stomach that he is that famous guy with all the young budding chefs that looked up to him and has been directly avoiding connecting himself to Olav because he feels guilty and ashamed. So any attempts at returning to the culinary arts is under his Ghost Roaster alias.
*Ghost Roaster doesn't remember all of his previous life or what happened after he transformed. He just remembers pain. And hunger. And ripping things to shreds. But the memories are starting to come back.
*Master Eon met Ghost Roaster because he was told to come down to the Land of the Undead and destroy a ravenous chained up ghoul that was being held in captivity. Instead, Eon took pity on him and made him a Skylander.
*Olav and Ghost Roaster are actually pretty similar in personality, just that Ghost Roaster is more likely to slip into dark humor and joke about eating people. This is another reason why he's avoiding reclaiming the Olav name; he doesn't want to find out about any family or friends that will just see him as a gross monster.
*He's rapidly rising in the ranks in the Undead culinary art world and now has a new rival in Batterson. Thankfully the two of them are way friendlier to each other.
*Ghost Roaster is one of those prickly types where once you push back all the thorns and befriend him, he'll move the very rocks and earth to help you. And send you memes at 3 am with a "this you?".
*Master Eon purposefully avoids sending Ghost Roaster on a mission that involves Chef Pepper Jack because while an encounter with him might regain all of Ghost Roaster's lost memories, it might also cause him to have a Bloodborne-esque rampage as he tries to END Chef Pepper Jack.
*No one except for Master Eon and Hugo have connected the dots between Olav that famous chef that disappeared and Ghost Roaster and he's very reluctant with sharing that information because he feels like if word got out, his old self's reputation would be damaged forever.
*Best Skylander friends: Ignitor, Fiesta, Funny Bone, Grim Creeper, Hex (ironically), Wrecking Ball, Fright Rider, Stealth Elf, Slobber Tooth (who samples his food)
*He's the ultimate in "I tell jokes to mask the pain" silly guys.
Best Friends, NPC edition: Eon, Batterson, Flynn, and Mags.
*Worst Skylander match ups: CAMO, Food Fight (is a tasty food), Shroomboom (same), Sonic Boom (regularly makes tasty foods he can't have), Jet Vac (same), Krypt King (won't let him crack him open and eat the tasty ghost inside like a lobster tail)
#Turquoisephoenix's headcanons#Skylanders#skylanders ghost roaster#ghost roaster#might be adding to this as I go on

So in hindsight this isn’t really that shameful but i FELT ashamed at the time!
so my dad is a teacher, and often when i was a kid (like 4-10yo ish) and had the day off from school but he didn’t (diff school districts) he’d ask if i wanted to come to work with him and i always loved it so my answer was always a definitive yes. like the vibe was that he taught one of those AP classes everyone who takes is really into and likes and he’s really cool, and the students always loved when i came and would ask him like “where’s ryan, when is he coming?” so anyway when i was in first grade there was this really pretty senior named ariana i who was in 2 of his classes (AP + elective) and the whole school day was like 4 periods bc this school is like one of those fancy private-esque public schools, so every time i went i basically spent the whole ass day essentially following this girl around bc i had a MAJOR crush on her. she was really sweet to me and showed me how to play lacrosse bc she was on the lacrosse team. so 7yo me was basically ready to get married at this point. and then….AND THEN! ! one time at the end of the day for some reason (they did shit like this a lot actually and i was disappointed when i got to high school and learned no one ever does this during class) a bunch of the kids in last period elective decided set up like a touch football game and invited me to play w them bc 7yo me pre-adhd diagnosis was like a fuckin caffeine singularity and i could outrun (or out-endurance) everyone except this one guy jacob but he’s not relevant to this story. so anyway we’re playing touch football and i just keep chasing down the other team’s quarterback and he can never get a chance to throw the ball bc he’s busy running away from me. but ariana was on the other team and by this point i would have punched a full grown adult in the face if she asked me to. so one of the other ppl on that team jokingly had this idea to get her to tell me that according to the rules of football i had to keep my eyes closed while chasing the other team or else it wouldn’t count when i caught them. i think they all thought i knew it was a joke but I DID NOT. so i did and i ended up running straight into a tree trunk and then everyone laughed and was like “hahahaha can’t believe you fell for that.” and that has been a core memory for my entire life ever since. some of them were like really apologetic but this one dude who i thought was really cool cause he built legos with me earlier just kept laughing and brought it up every time i went back after that. so until i got to college i was unable to let anyone find out a had a crush cause i thought they’d use it against me. jokes on lego dude tho cause he asked my dad for a letter of rec when he applied to college and my dad turned him down bc apparently he “slacked off on all his work and never got it done on time.” guess that’s why he had time to build legos with me in the middle of class
also i played this video game skylanders in like 6th grade and had a massive crush on this dragon named Cynder cause her voice was hot af. her tagline was “volts and lightning” and she breathed elcitricty instead of fireballs. but sooo hot tho
I love when yall send me memoirs

Random 1 am Skylanders/Legend of Spyro Crossover Idea
Plot bunnies attacked me at 1 in the morning, and I had to write it somewhere before it escaped my brain.
Basically, what if the Legend of Spyro trilogy and the Skylanders series were the same timeline? My more in-depth ideas are below the cut.
So after Spyro puts the world back together in the wake of the whole Destroyer debacle, he and Cynder end up in a weird time dilation purgatory(this is important, so bear with me).
In the wake of what happened, the Skylands begin to form from the floating pieces of the planet Spyro didn't quite pull back in. Later, the Skylands are fully formed.
Eventually, Spyro and Cynder are believed to have sacrificed their lives to stop Malefor; their names and stories immortalized by those they fought beside, and passed down through the ages.
Eventually, the Skylanders form as evil reemerges, a group of individuals coming together to follow in the Skylands' first heroes' steps and protect the world.
Spyro and Cynder finally emerge from Time Dilation Purgatory an undetermined amount of time before the Core of Light is destroyed by Kaos. For them, about ten years have passed, so they've grown(now 22). Not fully developed, but definitely grown up from when they last saw their home. They've had that time to master their powers, work through their respective trauma and go over their relationship. Whether platonic or romantic is up for interpretation.
They meet Eon, only to discover hundreds, or even thousands of years have passed since they defeated Malefor. They're both distraught to learn that everyone they knew before is now dead, but they're offered a home and meet the Skylanders. They're also given the opportunity to meet their friends' descendants, should they so choose, but they decide to wait so they can process and prepare.
Eventually, the two dragons start training the Skylanders, developing closer friendships with some than others. Cynder starts out wary, but eventually makes friends aside from Spyro, and vice versa. It's very good for them and their mental health, especially meeting the other dragons on the team.
Eventually, they do end up going to Dragons' Peak, which has become a sanctuary and safe haven for dragons. It's built from the remains of Warfang and the Dragon Temple, and their history is exceedingly well preserved. They're both a little bashful about the giant mural based on their battle against Malefor.
Kaos attacks the Core of Light, and Cynder and Spyro fly away in search of backup. This, they're spared from the explosion, but they both feel something terrible happened, and return to a decimated landscape, with no sign of the Skylanders, Eon, or the Core. Luckily, neither of them go into their Dark forms, having learned to control them in Time Dilation Purgatory.
In the wake of the Core of Light being destroyed, the two decide they have to defend the Skylands from Kaos as much as they can, working with Hugo, Flynn, Cali, and others to help the inhabitants of the Skylands and fend of Kaos completely overtaking the realm.
And yes, Kao is stunned by these two clearly ticked off dragons coming for him. He most likely heard stories of the two dragons who defeated the Dark Master from his mom.
Then the time comes, and the group of Skylands freedom fighters all get a message from Eon. The Skylanders are returning.
Then we get to the actual game! Just gonna do Spyro's Adventure, but I may reblog and cover the other games. Or you guys can, up to you. I have only played up to Trap Team, so someone else would need to cover Super Chargers and Imaginators, anyways.
So Hugo acts as an informant, while Flynn is transportation for non-flying individuals, and Cali is a covert operative. You throw your Skylander onto the Portal of Power, putting them into the game.
Hugo is shocked, then greets the Skylander you begin with. While introducing himself, Hugo mentions how "Mister Spyro and Miss Cynder will be quite pleased to see you, again!" Hinting at the above lore, that Spyro and Cynder are both in the game and familiar with the Skylanders.
The first level then proceeds the same is usual, and you meet our two dragons at the ruins after the cutscene going over what happened before the game and how the Skylanders ended up in our world.
Both Spyro and Cynder are shocked, but ultimately elated to see their friends again, then you go to rescue Cali with Flynn. Afterwards, Spyro and Cynder are in the ruins as well as joining you on various levels. They have a lot of witty banter with both the player and each other, showing ease and comfort in their relationship they hadn't had the chance to explore during the war. Again, platonic or romantic is up for interpretation.
What would they do in the game? My idea is that at the ruins, you can interact with one of them to challenge them to a training fight. Once you've been defeated, your Skylander doesn't die, though. You just end the training fight, and can try again. If you win, you get XP, buffs, and/or some loot for upgrades from Persephone.
In the levels, however, it's a little different. You can call on whichever of the two dragons accompany you. When you're good on health, they will act as a guide if you get lost. If you're low on health, they will fly in and fight the enemies for you until you can get a foodstuff to regain your health. They may scold you, referring to your training with them(reference to before the Core of Light was blown up, mostly, in case you don't do training fights), or giving you words of encouragement.
Levels they would be on? Spyro would be on the levels relating to Water, Earth, and Fire. Cynder would be on the levels relating to Undead, Air, and Life. Tech and Magic are undecided. Maybe they both accompany you, or maybe neither of them do. Maybe both for one and neither for the other? Then they say they'll be external support when you go to fight Kaos.
Bonus Levels: Darklight Crypt would feature Cynder, Empire of Ice would feature Spyro, neither join you against the pirates, and both join you to Dragons' Peak.
During the fight with Kaos, however, they do end up joining during the final phase. They attack the hydra, yelling for you to attack Kaos while they hold off the hyrda.
Boom, Kao defeated, order restored, onwards we go!
Also, random tidbit for Trap Team, specifically the Mirror of Mystery bonus level! Both Spyro and Cynder are corrupted into their Dark forms here, though how voluntary it was remains unclear. Perhaps Evilon used their sorrow of their lost time to get such powerful beings on his side, promising to help them when he really only intended to use them. Or perhaps something else happened. Just a random tidbit there, food for thought.
Thoughts?
Feel free to use it if you want. Whether in fanfics, or art.

As someone in a few fandoms where critical consumption is required, it's not uncommon to see people blowing up about shit that isn't even an actual issue with the media just because they want to appear like the better media consumer or something. Being this way about funny portal game is even goofier than what I'm used to though, the most you can say is that a few characters for sure make use of offensive stereotypes but it's nothing to clutch your pearls about (especially with how common those tropes were in kids media at the time, not saying they were okay though obviously). This person is literally making up problems to look smarter. I've seen it so many times in fandoms that actually require critical consumption and it's insane seeing it in a place where it's really not needed at all
Yeah, the thing with those sorts of grab bag "This series is problematic and here's why" posts is that you gotta ask yourself this question; was this post actually made to educate/debate on a problem, or was it posturing to make yourself look so much smarter than everyone else, oh look at me, I consume my media critically unlike the unwashed masses who are dumb and did not see the flaws in their blorbos.
Judging by the way it was written (where there are some good points but also some incredibly wild swings like how the main heroes are colonizers when they're....fighting back against people who have armies and tanks???) and their actions and how they've responded (they never tried to talk to Blue or anyone else who didn't like the post, everyone was just lumped in with "people who are mean to me"), it's the latter.
As I said in tags, I've encountered this user before. I told them that they made a bad point by saying that Glumshanks was antisemitic in one of their older grab bag "this series is bad and here's why" posts by saying that I'm Jewish and no, goblins are NOT inherently antisemitic, they're just often CODED to be antisemitic, and their response was to...withdraw, vaguepost about me, and then top it off with "well it was a game made by a big corporate entity, why are you critiquing me more than the big corporate entity".
They do make some good points! Yes, there are elements of antiblackness in the way Nightfall is designed. Yes, there are some offensive stereotypes in Skylanders like with Double Trouble and Voodood. (Which, as you said, are still distressingly common in kid's media) Yes, the USAmerican hegemony can infect its way into this franchise the way it does with every other franchise made to appeal to a wide audience in the English-speaking world.
They just need to...focus on the things that they actually know what they're talking about, rather than fluffing up each post with these really bad points. Because if you follow up "High Volt is a border patrol agent and that's eww" with "the group of teenaged dragons are colonizers because they "invade" the castle of "bad guys" to "fight them"", people are going to ask what the hell was up with that second point.
#also like...bringing up what's happening to you irl because you received some blowback on your critique post is kinda tacky#I am not excusing the actual hate that this user got#but I think they just have a pattern of responding to people who question their posts#reply post#not tagging this

Hirogaru Sky Impressions (2/5)
Full starting team now assembled. Yay~!
That said, I'm going to keep this "short" as I'm not feeling well. Also got some other things I need to finish but I can't concentrate on that if I don't get this post done and out of the way first.
Overall, the season is continuing to be a very delightful watch. I'm pleased with the pacing and that the writers are diligent about not giving away too much of the main plot just yet. There will be a proper time to dive into that later.
In the meantime, dedicating all the fillers to further fleshing out the Cures and building their team rapport and bonds with each other are exactly what we should always see from Precure.
Sora certainly holds the MC role the most prominently out of all her friends since her arc is tied closely to the main plot. So it's just a matter of waiting until the story returns to that for her arc to move forward. Namely, the reason behind the conflict between Skyland and the Undergu Empire (aka this season's lore), what Ellee-chan's significance is in the grand scheme of things and where the hell Captain Shalala is.
Though I think most of us have already theorized that her sudden disappearance is a setup for the eventual reveal that she is actually in league with the villains and will re-emerge as the third general. Or perhaps even the big bad boss because c'mon, you don't hire a veteran seiyuu like Mitsuki Saiga for only two or so episodes and call it a day.
Villain roles are mostly performed by well-established seiyuu in the industry so we can definitely expect Shalala to return in a fashion that would shake Sora's core beliefs (i.e. the broken pedestal trope). Which will then push her to re-evaluate what it means to be a true hero and come back even stronger after recovering from the shock.
On another note, I have my doubts whether Shalala is really the boss because the superior we heard Kabaton conversing with in ep 11 is actually voiced by Takako Honda, another veteran, and not Mitsuki Saiga.
...maybe Shalala is playing a double agent in order to get close to the Undergu leader and get rid of the threat once and for all that way?
Possible. But we don't have enough clues or evidence to confirm that yet so we'll just have to wait.
On another note, I like that they're doing something new again with this season by having the villain generals retire from their post right after their last defeat. Not sure if Kabaton will return as an ally in later episodes or not but it was heartwarming to see him turn over a new leaf and aim for a new and better purpose after he's been spared from death.
Back to the Cures.
Sora and Mashiro's friendship is just beautiful to behold. Thanks to Sora's arc being set aside for the moment, there's more time to focus on developing their relationship. Noticeably, it's during these fillers that Sora has increasingly become the one to support Mashiro rather than the other way around while Mashiro takes her own lead in finding her own path and discovering what she wants to do and what her dreams are (so yes, she isn't a Cure without a personal story arc, that's such a relief!).
Their partnership is quite balanced in that respect and I couldn't be happier.
Adding onto it, they're continuing to pay tribute to the original Futari Wa pair through Sora and Mashiro this way without disrupting the team camaraderie which is also a plus.
Tsubasa and Ageha as the beta pair provide very fun interactions, too, and I think I favor them over Sora and Mashiro. Whereas Sora and Mashiro are best friends who strive to do their best for each other, Tsubasa and Ageha have a more sibling dynamic between them with all the fond teasing and nagging.
The only complaint I have about them is their duo attack.
I mean yea, Wing looks so cool in his phoenix form (I'm calling it that, you can't stop me) but that shouldn't be a trade off for Butterfly getting all the lines while he becomes her nuclear pudgy mount.
I'm afraid that for all the progressiveness Toei has shown with HiroSky, they're still too chicken to go the full mile with the changes they implemented just yet.
We took two steps forward by finally including a male member to the main team...but took one step back with them still placing more importance on the girl cuz it's easier to sell her than the boy when their positions should be equal.
Granted, it's just one stock footage that only lasts about a minute but...it just bugs me, that's all.
That said, Butterfly's debut was omg, so awesome?!
The whole transformation sequence captured Ageha's vivacious personality perfectly.
She was already more than qualified to become Precure with her natural confidence and heroic drive. To see her slip right into the call like a duck taking to water (or er, a butterfly to the air) and then proceed to kick utter ass in her alter ego form...
Absolutely WONDERFUL.
I also love that though they constantly refer to Ageha as an adult and regularly show her dedication to her studies and jobs, they don't let her duties be the only things that define her.
Yes, she is mature and responsible but she's also living her best life and enjoying herself right now. She's interested in fashion, make up and has other personal interests outside her aspirations. She looks out for the kids who are younger than her while also having fun alongside them.
Yes, she's 18 and still in her youth but the point about Ageha/Butterfly's character is that there's no limit on choosing what you want for yourself. Just like how gender should not be an obstacle to becoming a magical girl (the metaphor for one's dreams and wishes), age shouldn't be one either.
Wear the accessories you want, pursue the hobbies you like, dance and sing without a care in the world.
As long as you're not hurting anyone, do what you find is fulfilling for you and do it without shame. You can be 30, 50, or 80 years old and that shouldn't matter in loving what you love.
Be like Ageha.
Act your age but don't be that. Be yourself foremost.
And that's all for now, I guess.
I suspect that midseason Cure debut will happen sometime before ep 30 so that we can have the ultimate forms + whole group power up attack around ep 40.
And then the remaining 8 episodes will center more or less around the main plot.
K, bye for now.
#yea i'm sorry i really don't know the meaning of 'short' lol#anyways the fact that i can still find it within me to appreciate this show in spite of my current state of mind#just proves that this season is a very good season indeed#i'm glad cuz now i'm mostly free of worries that the rest won't be satisfying#hirogaru sky precure#cure sky#cure prism#cure wing#cure butterfly#sora harewataru#nijigaoka mashiro#yuunagi tsubasa#hijiri ageha#ellee-chan

I feel like skylanders trap team is such tv show material. I mean you have snap shot the leader of the trap masters that also happens to be experienced in monster hunting as well as hunting down villains. You have food fight who's literally a talking ardichoke that was created by trolls when they attempted to fertilize the ground of the farms with gun powder (yes I'm serious that's actually his backstory man what is with trolls and bringing plants to life?) And you have the doom raiders and kaos and not to mention the light and dark elements like bruh! The theme song would be so legendary! This how I would like them to look by the way
#skylanders#skylanders trap team#food fight#snap shot#want a skylanders trap team tv show sooo bad#like really i have a feeling food fight would be funny as hell somtimes#and yes food fight is my favorite skylander#the CGI is on point like seriously this looks better than academy!

5th Review - Hirogaru Sky! Precure
I have said, many a time, that I think there is no bad season of Precure, and I stand by that. However, something has to be on the bottom, and, unfortunately, I think that’s this season. It doesn’t help that, along with this season, I was also watching Otoha ‘23 and Yes! 5, which were both better seasons of the show, IMO. That being said, there’s still quite a bit to like about this season.
The Characters: I really enjoy that Sora actually wants to be a hero. While Precure is by nature about heroes, the nature of being a hero is usually an underplayed element, so having this small change ends up meaning a lot, especially in something like the 20th anniversary season. And when Sora got to star in an episode, they were often some of my favorites, with the baseball episode in particular being a highlight. Also, having the ace be blue is pretty cool.
However, when the focus wasn’t on Sora, she was the most background character of any Precure ace, period. She often felt like a second or third stringer, being very one note when anyone else was in the spotlight. There were even some episodes near the end where the focus switched half-way through and it was actually jarring how her character shifted. It doesn’t help that she only had strong relationships with Mashiro and Elle, meaning she had less people to develop her character off of. She did have the most associated side-characters, but all of them were from Skyland, and as we barely spent any time there, those side characters don’t amount to much in the end.
Mashiro was a very strong character, having the most developed relationships, with Sora, Elle, Ageha, and the villain Batamon. She also had the strongest individual plot with the most notable development and episodes devoted to it, and a good chunk of the final few episodes were devoted to her winning over Batamon. She often felt like more of a main character than Sora did, as her connections to more characters let her play bigger roles in others’ stories.
There aren't a lot of negatives when it comes to Mashiro, though if I had to complain about anything, it’s that for such a developed character, she has the most boring concept of this team. Sora’s an other-worlder and a hero, Tsubasa’s the first male Precure along with being a bird, Ahega is our first adult main-cast Precure, and Elle is an actual baby. Compared to everyone else, the fact that Mashiro was the one who got so much more focus is a bit disappointing.
As I just mentioned, Tsubasa is our first male Precure. It opens a lot of avenues for future character ideas in coming seasons. And while not the most exciting character on his own, Tsubasa has strong relationships with both Ageha and Elle, and his personal stories often added to Skyland’s lore, and I do love me some lore.
But as I alluded to, Tsubasa isn’t very interesting as an individual. I have a hard time pinning down what his character is supposed to be outside of “male caregiver.” And while I’ll address this more later, I feel like the main reason they chose to have Tsubasa be male is so Elle could have a male caregiver that was on the team and not a side character like Rosemary or Harry.
Ageha was a similarly strong character to Mashiro, having strong relationships with Mashiro, Tsubasa, and Elle. She was also legitimately charming and well written to a notable degree higher than some other characters. The couple times we see her at work are very cute, and at times quite heartfelt. Furthermore, while we’ve had some high school age Precure before, Ageha is our first working adult on a main team (as we’ve had retired and ancient Precure in previous seasons), which is another cool idea that could add to future seasons in big ways. I’ll also add that having her be an early introduction, but not having her become a Precure until after the defeat of the first General are fantastic story beats.
But even Ageha is not without criticism, as her being an adult and a Preschool teacher both felt like they were more in service of raising Elle than furthering her own character at times. Also, as a big part of this show was raising Elle, and she was the most knowledgeable on raising children by a large margin, she was disproportionately featured in the show, further overshadowing the other members of the team.
And last we have Elle. I’ve said my piece on several occasions on how I don’t like babies in Precure, but to Elle’s credit, she was very cute. Her doing things like charging into battles, wanting to share her toys, and specifically her trying to save the rabbit during Minaton’s first appearance were all very nice moments.
But Elle was also the biggest hurdle this show had to overcome, and I think it failed to do so. As I mentioned, certain decisions, like Tsubasa being male and Ageha being an adult, felt like decisions catered to raising Elle before anything else. And that’s another problem. This isn’t a season like Tropical Rouge where Laura was the stealth main character; this season was primarily about raising Elle, not Elle as a character, so despite being the primary focus of the entire show, she has very little actual character to explore. It also doesn’t help that they didn’t give her the power to age-up until the very end of the show. There was such a huge jump in character moments after she got that ability that it’s a shame they waited until the last, like, four episodes to give it to her. I feel like almost every issue in this show could be traced back to accommodating Elle in some way. It sucks that this very unneeded subplot and (most likely) company mandate had to drag down the 20th anniversary season.
The Plot: There are elements of the story for Hirogaru that I really enjoy. The opening series of episodes are really good, and the fact that they really pace out the introduction of each Precure gives us opportunities for stories most seasons only give an episode, if that, which is neat. The ending arc is also very good, with good animation, a decent villain, and fun lore. And on top of that, there are a number of excellent individual episodes sprinkled throughout.
Unfortunately, the story does drag a lot. They always create a new reason for things happening, from generals switching out, to collecting sparkle energy, but when Minaton shows up there really isn’t anything going on; everyone’s just going about their business. From the point when Ageha becomes Cure Butterfly until the point where they decide they want to redeem Batamon, nothing really happens. I mean, there are events that happen that tie into the story, but there’s so much downtime in between moments, and for some reason it’s more jarring than with seasons like Tropical Rouge since only Mashiro has an individual subplot. There’s also so many missteps, like not introducing Kaiserin until the last few episodes, to having all the supporting characters being from a rarely visited other world.
Precure All Stars F: Just because I want to inject a bit more positivity into this review, and because I watched it right after finishing the series proper, let’s talk about the 20th anniversary crossover movie!
It was super fun! While it seems to be slightly bogged down by the voice actors they could get from each previous season, it was still a very well done film. They did get a lot of characters back, even if a lot of them didn’t have a lot of lines, and the characters that did get more screen time were done well, even if they did seem a bit random at first. There’s also a ton of cool crossover attacks, a lot of pivotal moments from previous season got redrawn, and the animation and action were great.
The thing that stood out to me the most, though, was probably the villain. Cure Supreme was an excellent idea for a 20th anniversary villain; a being seeking power that tries to emulate the powers of the Precure, only to not understand how they work. Also, Supreme and Puca being a team of black and white Precure was just a nice callback right at the end.
Overall, Hirogaru Sky! Precure is a season filled with good ideas, but doesn’t live up to its potential. While it’s filled with plenty of cute moments, it’s bogged down by the team needing to raise a child, a task that, ironically, gets in the way of said child’s development. I think a lot of the new ideas it brings to the table will positively influence future seasons, but for now, of all the seasons I’ve finished (that being 14), this one is definitely my least favorite.
As for Wonderful Precure, making the ace an actual dog is so left field and hilarious that I’m quite pumped. I’m really hoping this season takes a cue from the recent Sentai and Rider shows and does something a bit more story driven, but even if it remains episodic, it’s such a batty premise that I think it could work in either format. I hope the fifth member is a chinchilla.

15 Questions (Tag Game)
Thank you for tagging me, @athenswrites! (The post I was tagged in is here!) I'm gonna gently tag (with no pressure) @harleyacoincidence, @my-cursed-prince, @maskedemerald, @amaiguri, @fire-but-ashes-too, @taveren-writing, and anyone else that sees this and wants to do it!
I'm going to be slightly chaotic and answer this in a more "conversational" style with the main characters from Stained Integrity! (Excluding Mirak because he doesn't interact much with the others.) I'll put it under the cut since it's going to get pretty long.
Also, for context: Clover is incapable of lying, LeRoy is able to lie but typically does not since he grew up in a place where no one can lie, and Laurie... well. He can certainly lie if he wants to.
Are you named after anyone?
Clover: "My parents named me after my mother's favorite plant." Laurie: [trying not to laugh] "Her favorite plant is clover?" Clover: "Yes. And what are you named after, Laurence?" Laurie: "No one, actually. At least—not to my knowledge. How about you, Blondie?" LeRoy: "I'm actually named after a somewhat-famous journer. He was the first to cross the aether straight across instead of by skyland-hopping." Clover: "You never told me that!" LeRoy: "I guess it just never came up?" ~ ~ ~
When was the last time you cried?
Clover: "Two days ago, three minutes after noon, when I finished reading a logbook that ended because the journer that wrote it died." LeRoy: "I think the last time I cried was prob'ly... No, wait." [turns to Clover] "Did I cry that time you and Fritz's father had to drag me out of the tavern 'cause I was so drunk?" Clover: "Yes." LeRoy: "Then that was the last time I cried." Laurie: "You got drunk to the point of crying? You?" Clover: "It was the anniversary of when his mother left." Laurie: [regretting saying anything] "...Ah." LeRoy: "So, what about you?" Laurie: "Well, I was taught that men aren't supposed to cry, sooo... it's been a while?" ~ ~ ~
Do you have kids?
All three: "No." Clover: "But I most likely will someday!" LeRoy: "Even if I did want to have children, I think most others would prefer if I didn't pass on my blood mix to another generation." Laurie: "Oh, look—something we can agree on." LeRoy: "I'm sorry?" Laurie: [gesturing to self] "I'm the illegitimate eldest son of a lord. I don't think my dear lord father would be too pleased with me if I came back with children." Clover: "But would you want to have children?" Laurie: "...I'll get back to you on that." ~ ~ ~
Do you use sarcasm?
Clover: "...Can I ask what sarcasm is?" Laurie: [sarcastically] "No, my dear—you absolutely may not." LeRoy: "...That's sarcasm." Laurie: [dramatically sighing] "Yet another day that I pity you Elmalians and your inability to speak anything but the truth." ~ ~ ~
What’s the first thing you notice about others?
Clover: "Usually their height, then their clothes, then their hair, and then--" Laurie: "My dear, the question was about the first thing you notice." Clover: "Oh." LeRoy: "I think the first thing I usually notice is clothing. The colors, specifically." Laurie: "The first thing I notice is which hand they favor." Clover: "What?" LeRoy: "How do you notice something like that?" Laurie: "It's simple, really—you throw something at them and see which hand moves to catch it." LeRoy: "..." Clover: "..." Laurie: "...I keep forgetting that Elmalians have a very different idea of humor and sarcasm than what I'm accustomed to." ~ ~ ~
What’s your eye color?
LeRoy: "Brown—which is funny 'cause my Elmalian blood is iriseye. I just happened to get my mother's eyes." Clover: "My eyes are green." Laurie: "Mine are blue." LeRoy: [to Laurie] "Really? I'd say your eyes are more of an indigo color--" Laurie: "No, no—my eyes are definitely just blue." ~ ~ ~
Scary stories or happy endings?
Clover: "Either, as long as the story is good." LeRoy: "Really? I prefer happy endings." Laurie: "I find happy endings boring. What's the point of a story if I know that everything will turn out fine in the end?" Clover: "But you don't always know that the story will have a happy ending. Sometimes it can be a nice surprise after so many things go wrong." Laurie: "Ah, now if only life had a guarantee of that sort..." ~ ~ ~
Any special talents?
Clover: "I don't think I really have any talents..." Laurie: "You can breathe fire." Clover: "That's not a talent! That's just an Elmalian ability!" LeRoy: "I can't do it." Laurie: "Well, you're a meld." LeRoy: "...Low blow, Laurence." Clover: "I guess not all Elmalians can breathe fire..." Laurie: "Personally, I don't consider myself a very talented individual." Clover: "I watched you throw a dagger a whole meter into the air and catch it perfectly by the handle!" Laurie: "That's not a talent!" ~ ~ ~
Where were you born?
LeRoy: [bursts out laughing] Laurie: "...Are you all right?" LeRoy: "Yeah, it's just-- I know exactly where I was born, thanks to everyone and their mother telling me the story of my birth." Clover: "Even I know about that." Laurie: "What's the story, then?" LeRoy: "Well, my mother was trying to insist that she was feeling perfectly fine 'cause my father wouldn't stop being paranoid about the whole thing, but then right as they were having their argument, her water broke—which of course sent my father into complete panic, and he rushed her down the way to the Quarters' place—they're the head apothecaries in town—but they... didn't quite make it inside the building." Clover: "He was born on their porch." Laurie: "Is that a normal sort of occurrence for commoners?" LeRoy: "Why—where were you born?" Laurie: "In my mother's quarters in my father's manor. My mother was on bedrest the entire month before I was born." [turns to Clover] "What about you, my dear?" Clover: "I was just born in my mother's room at our old home. LeRoy was also there." Laurie: "Oh?" [raises an eyebrow towards LeRoy] LeRoy: "I wasn't even a year old!" Clover: "My parents watched over him while his father was at work, so he just happened to be there." Laurie: "Ah, yes—you and your absurd 'adoptive sibling' relationship." ~ ~ ~
What are your hobbies?
Clover: "I don't have a lot of free time anymore, but I do like to read." LeRoy: "I also like to read. Sometimes I'll play card games with my father, but that's more his hobby than it is mine." Laurie: "Oh, to be a lower-class citizen with time for leisure activities..." LeRoy: "Can you be serious for five minutes?" Laurie: "Absolutely not." ~ ~ ~
Do you have any pets?
LeRoy: "No pets here." Clover: "I don't have any pets, either." Laurie: "What about that cat that was following you around?" Clover: "What? When?" Laurie: "The other day when you were in the library." Clover: "???" Laurie: "The calico? The one with the green eyes?" Clover: "ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT FRANCIS?!" LeRoy: [cracking up] Laurie: "...I'm getting the feeling that I'm missing some crucial information in this conversation." ~ ~ ~
What sports do you play/have played?
LeRoy: "I never really played any sports, but I would spar a lot with my classmates back in school." Clover: "I started learning how to dance when I came to the castle, if that counts." Laurie: "..." LeRoy: "What?" Laurie: "You weren't required to engage in pointless athletic activities as children?" Clover: "No...?" Laurie: "For the love of--!" [shaking fist at the sky] "Why wasn't I born a commoner?!" ~ ~ ~
How tall are you?
Clover: "I think I'm around a hundred fifty-five centimeters?" LeRoy: "That sounds right. I'm roughly two hundred three centimeters." Laurie: "I believe I'm around sixty-seven inches." LeRoy: "You use inches?!" Laurie: "Most of the eastern skylands do, yes." ~ ~ ~
Favorite subject in school?
Clover: "I really liked literature classes." LeRoy: "Same—but my favorite class was always geography." Laurie: "You both went to a school?" LeRoy: "You didn't?" Laurie: "I had private tutors." Clover: "Did you have a favorite subject?" Laurie: "Oh, I did rather enjoy my language lessons." ~ ~ ~
Dream job?
Clover: "I used to want to be a journer, but I don't think I would last very long." LeRoy: "If I weren't a metalsmith, I think I'd enjoy being a cartographer." Laurie: "When I was younger, I wanted to be an alchemist when I grew up. Quite frankly, I have no idea what I'll do with my life if I don't end up inheriting my father's lordship." ~ ~ ~
I'm giving a gold star to anyone that made it all the way to the end. Thank you very much for reading!! This was a really fun way to spend my lunch break haha

I’d love to hear more about your AU!
Hi!! Thank you!! I have two AUs actually, but I can talk a little about both for now!
Keep in mind this is a long post and that there are spoilers for Superchargers and maaaybe Imaginators here?
The Shattered Earth:
This AU centers around the idea that the Skylands are actually an exploded planet (from the Spyro universe) that is being held somewhat together with magic, and that the further down you go (the closer & closer you get to the core), the more dangerous it gets.
There are also creatures known as Fire Vipers (yes the ones from the game but I redesigned them) who hunt Mabu on the surface but make their home within the Shattered Earth (a lower level of the Skylands that contain more mountainous-looking islands that you see when you get below the surface levels of the Skylands)
This AU works on explaining the Mabu subtypes, and is generally a more serious approach to the series in its tone.
Skylanders: Re-Imaginators
This AU was made simply because I don’t like Imaginators haha, the game wasn’t really that great story-wise to me so my friend and I made our own plot and ran with it! I post the series on my account because my friend doesn’t have any social medias where they can post if, but they do just as much work as I do!
Skylanders Re-Imaginators actually ties back into Superchargers, where it’s explained why Kaos left the Academy after the events of that game. The Darkness is still gone but the events that took place in that game have left the Skylands sorta messed up, so they were being rebuilt at the time of Kaos’ attack. Also there are some fun (free) DLCs we have planned, although it’s difficult to make DLCs for a game we don’t know how to make, so for now we’re just making the whole game in book form haha.
I can’t talk too much about Re-Imaginators because it’s in it’s early stages, but do keep an eye out for that! Also, both of these AUs are on AO3! (Although Shattered Earth just has a short story collection and not a book)

Here is a Question for you and it also brings us back to Rayman Raving Rabbids, namely a very cool machine:
Pink!
To the left: His prototype version for the Rayman 4 early version that would be somewhat used in the GBA version for RRR, but without that spider-machine and his left eye has a eye patch. To the right his Wii version without the Pink fur
He is machine Rabbid you meet in the Rayman Raving Rabbids version for Wii and GBA! Let us start with his first entry:
He appeared in Rayman Raving Rabbids first on GBA, where the sad Origin Story is mentioned. You encouter him on your escape from the Rabbid's hideout, the Dark World, which is unsuprisingly the final world you visit, a dark and gloomy undergroud, serving as their home after they were driven out from the Glade of Dreams due to bullying!
Before you could free Ly the fairie, you meet him as your first boss, he summons a Giant Mecha Anti-Toon (does this sound familiar?) and let it loose on Rayman, who defeats it, afterwards he smashes his control device and Rayman runs away...thus we never see Pink ever again!!!
In Rayman Raving Rabbids you have to fight him some times in the arena in all the Plunger shooter games, where he creates a barrier that makes him immune to Damage, safe for his own rockets he throws at you. You see, he is actually very timid and mute, he can only say "Hey Mate, what's up" by launching heat-seeking missiles at you...which he does constantly, so he always says to you "Hay Mate, What's up" repeatedly...he needs professional help...
What do you think of him? Could he join our crew and help the heroes against any of Cursa's evil? What would Edge think of him, namely that he like Sergeui also worked for the Rabbids Army back then and what would the other Rabbids think of this fellow? Would Beep-0 and Jeanie help him to speak more sentence rather than his uniquely pronounced sentence? Well Kanya would get jelly for obvious reasons and Momma might help him, he is after all a Machine...
So should we accept him or not? Rayman might be on board, given that he loves Rabbids now and can settle old grudges...he after all beat Pink in the arena, so if he went rogue, he knows how to deal with him!
I hope he is a good guy and will help us dealing with evil forces from on now!!!
What do you say? Friend or Foe?
I have heard of this guy before yes. as for being friend or foe. I kinda have some mixed emotions with that.
personally i do see him as a villain since, well he is in the Rayman games. but there could be a silver lining to that.
this could be my lack of knowledge for Rayman talking, but if Pink is meant to be a slightly sentient robot. then it's possible to reprogram him into joining the crew. and since he's able to summon mecha's that are similar to Kanya's mecha's, maybe taking down Cursa would be slightly easier.
i'm pretty sure everyone would be pretty confused at first since they've never really met a robot of their race before, because they were never part of the Rabbid army. even wondering who created this little guy in the first place.
obviously Momma would be the one to tinker with Pink's currents, maybe even giving him some new upgrade's while she's at it.
if Beep-O and Jeanie do teach him to talk, i like to imagine that he would sound like either Kaos from Skylander's or Angel Dust from Hazbin Hotel
and i don't think Kanya would be jealous. considering she failed twice to kill the heroes, she need's more improvement's on her mecha's, and Pink is the perfect being to go to in order from said improvement's to happen. she would defiantly try to take him and have him help her work on her mecha's.
and as for Rayman, that's going to be complicated. Rayman would not trust this guy since there were times were he almost killed him. it's going to be a long process for Rayman to trust Pink. considering that he's actually starting to understand the Rabbids mores when he realized that not all Rabbids were bad.
......but since Pink is a robot.......
i do think Pink could be considered a friend, but you know a lot more about him than i do. so i'll leave that up to you.
this is what i personally think tho :)

Skylanders Review: Boomer
Remember when Boomer used to be like, an actual name someone would have. I mean, it was mostly used for slacker characters in 80s cartoons and the occasional 90s surfer. Then old people tried to start fights with the kids they abandoned to screens and a bad economy and now we're here.
Yeah, that's a Boomer alright.
[Image: Boomer is a squat green goblin-like Troll whose head is is nearly the same size as its entire body. He has bat-like ears as long as his upper arms, and short furry legs the same color as his beard and ear hair tufts. He also wears blue metallic gauntlets and clawed boots. It appears he wears no other clothing, as its mostly just more copper-colored fur covering his body. His Troll nose is almost carrot-shaped, while his large copper-colored eyes have different sized irises that make him look a little unhinged. He carries a bag on his back full of dynamite sticks.]
An odd little guy, Boomer is a Tech Elemental due to being a demolitionist. Trolls are said to love explosions, but Boomer strays from the pack due to his distaste for war. He turned his back on his own battalion to protect a town, soon becoming the first and only troll to become a Skylander.
He has typical gremlin characteristics, being too manic for his own good. Despite this he's remarkably kind, and it's stated this was the main thing that made him misunderstood by other trolls - though it's stated that before joining the Skylanders that his favorite past time was blowing sheep up.
He still does it; he just denies it when asked now.
He went through a few redesigns since being Bomb Troll, one of the beta five alongside Red Spyro and Tarclops. He started off much meaner looking, and even older. It's stated in the reference book that he's fairly young, in a way that implies he might be underaged (though not a child).
This won't be the last time the Skylanders employ child labor.
He also got a Leprechaun skin in the app game.
Motto: "Bring the Boom!" Basic but good. 3/5.
2/5. He isn't bad, just not all that much if you can tell by how little the franchise does with him. He's a fine character, even if he looks more like a goblin than a troll. Yes, there is a difference.

my love my dear <3 blows u a kiss. 1, 20 and 30 for the asks :-3?
HIII MWAH!! I push you down the stairs beloved!!!
1 . what are 3 things you’d say shaped you into who you are?
Oh you had to pick the hard one huh. | I really have no idea about what shaped me... I suppose that dinosaurs did? Classic kid thing to start fixations with, those things consumed my childhood and I still love them. It's thanks to them that I branched into drawing dragons, then got to where I am. Casual eldritch/biology enjoyer. Games for sure, 100%. Honestly I think my neighbour falls into this place too. He was the younger brother but I got on way better with him. I'd say we were almost best friends, we'd spend majority of our afternoons throughout all his primary school years (+2 of my high school years) playing Skylanders together and talking about Pokemon. We saw each other almost daily!! I don't know where he is now or how he's doing, but I hope he's doing great out there. He was a good kid, I wouldn't want anything else for him and for how much he helped me become who I am today. I hope he knows how much he still means to me after all this time.
Music. I think would have to be the last thing I can think of. My music taste has changed so much since the start of high school but regardless it was my crutch. My silence was always filled with music if I could help it. On the bus, in the car, at home. It's still the same now too. Music stops me from overthinking and fearing and I always tend to tear up at random moments listening to random songs. I would and do always daydream to it and it powered/powers my thoughts like nothing else. Music kept my creativity alive, especially when I developed some intense anxiety/depression during early years of high school. For that I owe it everything.
20. favourite things about the night?
Oh yes an easy question, PHEW. It's dark, quiet, peaceful, nice on the eyes and generally peak hours 'cause everyone's asleep. Nothing is nicer than having a window open to the darkness outside, hearing the wind blow a cool breeze by. Orange streetlights over the road or Christmas decorations in the dark. Nothing quite as hypnotizing as driving at night and seeing the lights go by in spotty patterns. During the day people are active and about, supposed to be awake and full of energy. I'm a very chill, tired person most of the time and the night is so much less stressful to me. It's down time for everyone and that means I can vibe at my most comfortable. Did I mention it's dark? Light hurts my eyes </3 That's also why I love cloudy af days.
30. what’s one thing that never fails to make you happy/happier?
Cat. My cat. Idk how you're supposed to not feel happy when you're near a little, fluffy creature that loves you. Easy mood booster.

Hough... This one ended up a little more than I meant. Actually I think both asks did, my bad dfgnjdfh
Thank you for asking though!

Can I get 💖💜 and 💝 for the Skylanders Ask Game 👀?
💖 YES I DO…. 😳 i don’t talk about them here but i’ve been slowly making a whole bunch of them. i don’t like posting unfinished designs though so most have been “marinating” lol.
the 2 i’ve actually acknowledged are milkweed [x, x] and road kill [x]
💝 i’d entice others with my beautiful collection of little guys. but fr, a big strength is that there’s a lot of variety. a lot of characters to choose from and the games range from dungeon crawler to platformer to racing. i think that’s a neat aspect, it feels almost experimental and that seems like a good draw for people.
also cannot emphasize enough just how absolutely charming it is. listening to the people who worked on it really shows how much love was put into this series and i feel that it’s really worth checking out <3

#peps.txt#ask game#i promise i’ll post about my guys someday but they are stuck in development hell rn 💀
