lottie tells her "confession" about stealing clothes from tj maxx right after laura lee tells the team about calling her piano teacher of "cunt" in her head

so, in a way, it was lottie who started the round of team confessions to show that laura lee wasn't the only "weirdo" and wasn't alone, and helped turning a sort of silly moment into team bonding

this short scene shows both laura lee's guilt and a glimpse into her mental health issues that we see further developed in her flashback on episode 1x08 "flight of me bumblebee" (her clinging harder into religion after her near-death experience due to her suicide attempt), and also the first time we see lottie's observation skills and empathy as leadership qualities of sorts even if she still has the quiet girl status at the time

i love this show's details and i love these two dorks so much

the scene in which laura lee says "maybe someone brought contraband" while looking at nat after misty asks if the plane had any bar and lottie says it didn't bc it was cheaper that way is such an underrated moment in this fandom tbh

because, if it was any other person who said that, natalie probably would start fighting in a second

but with laura lee, she just gets a bit embarassed

this moment, and how nat sort of fakes annoyance at the girls after laura lee starts catcalling her and travis for sneaking out to make out, but other than that just was actually having fun until jackie comes up accusing her of not trying hard enough to find food (out of concearn for shauna and the baby, ofc), these scenes suggest an intimacy that many ppl take for granted

these are the main reasons why i headcanon the two were sort of friends back home

or, at least, were closer than anyone would expect
