One Dress a Day Challenge

April: Yellow Redux

The Young Victoria / Emily Blunt as Queen Victoria

Victoria wears this very springy and girlish-looking yellow gown, a fine example of 1830s fashion, to the king's birthday party. The sheer outer layer is embroidered with white roses. As can be seen from the sketch above, the final product very closely followed Sandy Powell's design.

As beautiful as the gown is, that amazing hairstyle almost succeeds in distracting from it. It's impressive that they managed to recreate one of the more difficult and complex hairstyles from the 19th century.
