Happy Storyteller Saturday; you have so many important items (cloaks, amulets), so many important creatures and plants, so much symbolism, I am giving you a challenge today to either find or write something for each colour of the rainbow in Ascendancy;
Something red
Something orange
Something yellow (or gold!)
Something green
Something blue
Something purple
Best of luck with this challenge!!!
HAPPY STS! Love this question and had a ton of fun writing the answers
Red
Firetongue. A marijuana like plant that can be smoked or consumed to help with sleep and chronic pain. Smoked by a large majority of Anemoians recreationally. Firetongue chews are developed by Jeremias Mccullough first for Crown Mavros, but he refined them to be better and taste better for the sake of his future wife, and Mav's sister, Amara Aeraki. The plant is a maroon and red colour and the products made from them often are a dusty red or maroon. Red dye can also be made from the Firetongue plant but it tends to fade easily.
Orange
Popflowers are large magical flowers that only grow on the mountains near Oriens and Aiman. Here is another STS post about them, their origins, uses and importance.
https://dragonfelling.tumblr.com/post/767328118133407744/sts-time-tell-me-about-a-sedentary-lifeform-in
Yellow/Gold
The Cobra Pendant is a reoccurring phenomena seen all over the world. It is most prominent in Talisum's story but it has surely been seen by many Alchemists and those curious about the origins of Gods. This is a sign by an old... olllldddd God that he is reaching out to you.
Bonus: Kurtys' locket. Kurtys Lutalo carries a golden locket with a small graphite drawing of his mother. This is passed onto his daughter, Ilonia. Kurtys' wife, Taifun, ends up making a small drawing of Kurtys to put on the other half of the locket for her. Ilonia ends up having it put into her swords custom scabbard like a jewel, as she doesn't wear necklaces but she still wants to have it around where she can keep that reminder of her father.
Green
Taifun's painting of Amara Aeraki. When the Anemoian war ended Amara was hailed a war hero due to her efforts in marrying and distracting the Monarch of Midonia, as well as causing disruption in their countermeasures against the Anemoians. Mav commissioned a portrait of his sister in her honour. This painting was created using malachite and jade based green paints, as well as expensive bright cinnabar reds and pop flower orange. "Only the best" was requested.
Blue
Blue is a tricky one, and is more symbolic I suppose. Ishida in so many facets follows the colour blue. Blue is the colour of their God Flower (like pop-flowers. diviniphagous plants.) Theirs is called the I Kaltar flower. It bleeds a deep indigo when the plant is pulled apart. Its often compared to "The Godess' ichor itself" It is considered sacred and tourists are NOT allowed to pick from the fields without special permission. It is refined into various blue pigments and paints. Blue is also the colour of the Dredhe's eyes. They are an icy colour thats compared to a blue moon. Bright and catches the light, and known for how its structural differences helps the Dredhe see in the dark and underwater.
Purple
Fluvius Aeraki's jacket. This jacket had been worn by Fluvius since he was a young man. It has been through hell and back. Its very old but well taken care of and consistently upkept and fixed. its a bit of a ship of Theseus situation though since the whole thing has likely been replaced over the years. Fluvy just insisted that he kept this specific jacket his whole life. Well... until his son, Kurtys' death. When Kurtys died, Fluvius gave it to his grandson, Fluvius jr (Fluvius-dy but everyone just uses jr) The boy always found comfort in it, so Flu gave him the old thing. Its a bit small on him as an adult, but hes had it hemmed and mended just like how Fluvy sr did.
It smells of the sea, perfume and rum and its impossible to get that scent out.
BONUS: Black
Black
This is a mirror to Fluvius' jacket. Chien always wrapped himself up in his grand-uncle Xaviers cloak. This cloak is as old as that jacket and just like that jacket it has been through hell but has been maintained. The cloak is full of stories. It was once traded between lovers who had very similar cloaks to the point that nobody noticed they swapped so they could keep the other's smell close. It wrapped around a girl called Janu (Mav's aunt) to temporarily shield her from the dangers of terrible old men. This cloak was worn through a tyrant kings short reign and followed Xavier to Ishida. It picked up the smell of wine and burbon as Xavier learned from his grandfather how to make liquor. This cloak has seen the fall of a second king: Edgar Derre. (Taifuns father) as he was part of the raid to dethrone him. Xavier brought this cloak to Aeraki and used it once to wrap up Chien's father, Mavros when he cried and screamed. The cloak has seen the deaths of many men: killed by Xavier in his rage. The cloak went back to Midonia when the war started. It returned with him and became the comfort item for Chien. He'd inherit this cloak when Mav and his mother MIrka ""died" (fled Anemoi) and then Xavier died.
Chien would wear this thing until its thread was bare. Even then: he'd hang it at his bedpost and hold onto it some nights when he couldn't sleep. This cloak has seen everything and would continue to see more until Chien would be entombed in it.

Mental breakdown and colour pencils
Today, I woke up feeling an inexplicable urge to escape, as if a fear of the unknown was gripping me so tightly that I didn’t want to continue living or even witness the twinkling stars. I wished that writers like myself had the privilege to end their life sentences with just a full stop.
When I woke up, my parents had gone out for some errands, and my sister had gone to school, leaving me alone in the house. I didn’t bother brushing my teeth or taking a shower; I simply put on my yellow hoodie. It felt like a beacon of brightness in the darkness of life. I felt hungry but didn’t know how to cook, so I attempted to make tea, only to realize I had run out of regular milk. I was frustrated that I couldn’t enjoy a warm cup of tea on this rainy day, so I decided to order something. I downloaded an app called Blinkt and ordered Shin Ramen and a packet of bread. After 10 minutes, I prepared the ramen, and it tasted heavenly. Ramen never fails to disappoint—it’s the only “men” that can be trusted, haha. As I savored my meal, I watched the movie “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” because the character Naina resonated with me deeply. I slurped my ramen with gusto.
Later, my parents returned home, and something happened that triggered me immensely. I couldn’t speak; instead, I started throwing things at them. I messed up the neatly folded clothes on the chair and punched the bedroom wall so hard that it hurt my hand. Then, I noticed something nearby and impulsively hit my arm with it. Self-harm has become a bad habit of mine when I’m angry or sad. I still don’t know how to overcome these anger issues and depressive episodes. It’s high time I told my therapist that I want to restart my medication because I’m losing control. This massive mental breakdown in front of my parents wasn’t an uncommon occurrence. With tears streaming down my face, a runny nose, and a messy hair bun, I decided to leave, as I knew staying would only lead to further harm to myself.
It was pouring rain outside, and I was wearing track pants and a short kurti. I had a bag with my diary, drawing book, and colored pencils—my therapist once suggested finding different ways to calm myself down. Soaked from head to toe, I made my way to the book cafe that always made me feel at home. Upon arrival, I ordered my favorite ginger tea. I went to the washroom, splashed water on my face, but my eyes remained red. Then, I took deep breaths and sat near the table fan, eagerly awaiting my tea. In the meantime, I pulled out my drawing book, which I hadn’t touched in ages, and felt the urge to create. Even though my attempts to draw the cafe itself failed, making me question what was wrong with me, I decided to scribble with colored pencils instead. Despite my trembling hands, I gave it my all and completed the drawing.
Finally, I could breathe and calm myself down while savoring my ginger tea. Looking out the window, I saw that the rain was still pouring, and a thought came to my mind as I sat cross-legged on the couch: “I long for the blossoming of flowers within my heart, even if visitors come and pluck them to gift to their beloved, share with friends, or preserve within the pages of a cherished novel beneath their beds. I believe that every human heart possesses such beauty, remaining both untouchable and capable of both healing and causing harm.” This thought emerged while I listened to “Evermore” by Taylor Swift. I adore the song “Gold Rush” in particular.
Somewhere deep within my thoughts, I had a sense that this mental breakdown was a necessary release. For the past 20 days, I had been engulfed in feelings of numbness and anxiety, and it became overwhelming. I’m relieved that this emotional pressure time bomb has finally been released, allowing me to breathe again. However, I now find myself experiencing pain in my arm due to the forceful impact of punching the door.

Why Angrakha Kurtis is a Must-Have in Your Festive Wardrobe
Festivals are a time of celebration, joy, and tradition. With every festival comes the opportunity to dress up in attire that reflects cultural heritage and makes a style statement. Among the many traditional outfits, the Angrakha Kurti Design stands out as a quintessential piece that perfectly blends elegance, comfort, and tradition. This blog will explore why Angrakha Kurtis are a must-have in your festive wardrobe, delving into their history, versatility, and styling potential.
The Historical Significance of Angrakha Kurtis
The Angrakha Kurti is a garment steeped in history, with roots tracing back to the royal courts of Rajasthan and Gujarat in India. Originally worn by men, the Angrakha was a protective garment that wrapped around the body and tied at the side, often adorned with intricate embroidery and embellishments. The word "Angrakha" itself comes from the Sanskrit words "ang," meaning body, and "raksha," meaning protection.
Over time, this traditional attire evolved into a more feminine form, giving rise to the Angrakha Kurti we see today. The modern Angrakha Kurti retains the classic overlapping design, often featuring ties, tassels, or buttons on the side, making it a unique and stylish addition to any wardrobe.
The Versatility of Angrakha Kurtis
One of the most appealing aspects of the Angrakha Kurti is its versatility. Whether you’re attending a formal event, a family gathering, or a festive celebration, the Angrakha Kurti can be styled to suit various occasions. Angrakha Kurti Design allows it to be paired with a wide range of bottoms, including palazzos, churidars, leggings, or even skirts, making it a flexible choice for any festive outfit.
Suitable for All Body Types
The Angrakha Kurti’s design is flattering for all body types. The overlapping panels create a slimming effect, while the flowy silhouette ensures comfort and ease of movement. For those who prefer a more fitted look, these Kurtis are available in various cuts that can accentuate the waistline. Additionally, the option to tie the Kurti at the side allows for easy adjustments, making it a comfortable choice for women of all shapes and sizes.
Day-to-Night Transition
Another reason Angrakha Kurtis are a must-have in your festive wardrobe is their ability to transition effortlessly from day to night. A simple cotton or silk Angrakha Kurti can be worn during the day for a casual look, and with the addition of statement jewelry, a bold dupatta, or heavier makeup, it can easily be transformed into an evening outfit. This adaptability makes it an ideal choice for those who want to look stylish throughout the day without the need for multiple outfit changes.
The Cultural Appeal of Angrakha Kurtis
Festivals are a time to celebrate culture and tradition, and what better way to do that than by wearing attire that reflects your heritage? The Angrakha Kurti, with its traditional design and cultural significance, is a perfect representation of India’s rich textile history. It’s a garment that not only honors tradition but also embraces contemporary fashion trends.
Traditional Embroidery and Designs
Many Angrakha Kurtis feature traditional embroidery techniques such as zari, gota patti, and mirror work, which are often associated with festive occasions. Intricate Angrakha Kurti Designs add a touch of elegance and sophistication to the garment, making it ideal for celebrations. Whether you choose a Kurti with subtle embroidery or one with elaborate designs, the craftsmanship involved in creating these pieces makes them stand out in any festive gathering.
Vibrant Colours and Fabrics
Festivals are all about colour, and the Angrakha Kurti doesn’t disappoint in this regard. Available in a wide range of vibrant colours, from deep reds and royal blues to bright yellows and emerald greens, there’s an Angrakha Kurti to match every festive mood. The choice of fabric also plays a crucial role in enhancing the overall look. While silk and brocade Angrakha Kurtis are perfect for formal occasions, cotton and chiffon options are ideal for more casual celebrations.
Styling Angrakha Kurtis for Festive Occasions
Styling an Angrakha Kurti for a festive occasion is both fun and exciting. The key is to balance tradition with contemporary fashion elements to create a look that is both elegant and trendy.
Pairing with the Right Bottoms
The beauty of the Angrakha Kurti lies in its versatility, and pairing it with the right bottoms can elevate your entire look. For a traditional appearance, pair your Angrakha Kurti with churidars or straight-cut pants. If you’re aiming for a more modern look, palazzos or skirts can add a contemporary twist. Additionally, you can experiment with dhoti pants or shararas for a more eclectic vibe.
Accessorising to Enhance the Look
Accessories play a vital role in completing your festive look. When styling an Angrakha Kurti, consider the occasion and the level of formality. For a grand celebration, opt for heavy jewelry such as jhumkas, chokers, or statement necklaces. A beautifully embroidered or printed dupatta can also add to the festive charm. If you prefer a more understated look, simple stud earrings and a delicate bracelet can do the trick.
Footwear Choices
Footwear is another important aspect of your festive ensemble. Traditional juttis or mojaris complement the ethnic appeal of the Angrakha Kurti and are comfortable enough for long hours of wear. For a more modern touch, you can opt for heels or wedges, which can also help in accentuating your height and posture.
Hair and Makeup
To complete your festive look, don’t forget about hair and makeup. A well-coiffed hairstyle, whether it’s a sleek bun, loose curls, or a braided updo, can enhance the elegance of the Angrakha Kurti. As for makeup, opt for a look that complements the colour and style of your Kurti. Bold lip colours, winged eyeliner, and a hint of shimmer can add a festive flair to your overall appearance.
Why Angrakha Kurtis Are Perfect for Festive Gifting
In addition to being a must-have in your festive wardrobe, Angrakha Kurtis also makes for an excellent gift during the holiday season. Their timeless appeal, coupled with their cultural significance, makes them a thoughtful and stylish gift for loved ones.
A Gift with Tradition and Style
Giving an Angrakha Kurti as a gift is more than just presenting a piece of clothing; it’s about sharing a part of India’s rich heritage and textile tradition. Whether it’s for a family member, a friend, or a colleague, an Angrakha Kurti is a versatile and thoughtful gift that can be cherished for years to come.
Customisable Options
Another advantage of gifting an Angrakha Kurti is the availability of customisable options. From selecting the fabric and colour to choosing the type of embroidery or embellishments, you can personalise the Kurti to suit the recipient’s preferences, making it a unique and special gift.
Bottom Line
Angrakha Kurtis are more than just a piece of clothing; they are a celebration of tradition, culture, and style. Their versatility, cultural appeal, and timeless elegance make them a must-have in any festive wardrobe. Whether you’re dressing up for a Diwali party, a wedding celebration, or simply enjoying a festive day with family, Angrakha Kurti Design can help you look and feel your best. So, as you prepare for the upcoming festivities, consider adding an Angrakha Kurti to your collection – it’s a decision you won’t regret. Visit Jadau Jaipur today to get details about our collection!

The handmade art made with love
The most vibrant of colours and beautifully made products by hand found in rajasthan had caught my eyes during the summer of this year. The use of these colours has been here for ages and now have come to fashion industry once again with a new enhanced trendy look.
Rajasthan is known for its textile industry and how this art has been passed down to generations from decades. I decided to take the handloom from here as it has the most unique way of handling fabric with different methods which are the most authentic handicraft skill in this age.
Its very fascinating of how the artisans here have a sharp eye for fine details with incredible precision of how to mould a simple fabric to a beautiful product.
There are different kind of handloom arts present in this state of India.
The use of tie-dye has been used here for a long time and is the most worn type of pattern here. BANDHANI is one of the type in which a cloth is decored by plucking it with fingernails in different shapes and forms giving it a figurative design. It comes in sarees , dupattas, dress materials which after worn enhances the look of the dress. the colours of these dresses are mostly contrast.
There are emotions behind every form of art piece, every design in a bandhani cloth shows one's feeelings at that moment, like red represents a bride ,for yellow represents maternity.
Every design is made with pure form of love and respect for the technique which has been used for over 5000 years now.
LEHERIYA is also a very well known design in rajasthan which is inspired fron the word 'waves' that is the wave type layers which are seen on the sand in the dessert areas. the zig-zag patterns or irregular stripes or waves holds one captivated in its unique look and appear visually fluid. This type of design typically went trendy due to it giving a very mordern look.
These lovely patterns are made with resist-dyeing technique with certain where certain parts of the fabric maintain the original form where the others arrest the hues applied.
These traditional methods maintain the heritage styles of dyeing and are also sustaible or eco-friendly.
Handblock print is one of the most commonly worn prints in jodhpur rajasthan. It is made by carving diffrent motifs on a piece of a wood which is then painted and pasted on a cloth in a particular way .
It usually has intricate yet sober designs which gives the particular cloth a richer look and is also something can can be worn casually for outings or even festive fuctions.
Block prints shirts , kurtis are casual wear for the people living here and is one of the best classic outfits.
Shisha work famous in both Rajasthan and Gujarat, usually worn during festive season and weddings. It is made by sewing small pieces of mirror to a piece of cloth in different type of patterns. The mirror pieces are cut into different shapes depending on what design one wants to create.
It is also used in different decorative items like pillow cases, carpets, small sofa covers and so on, this type of work is famous all over India and is also found in some other countries to.
These material dresses need a lot of care as they could get ruined easily, but the look they serve after worn by one is just priceless!
JUTTI , they have been a part of Indian culture for decades and have still evolved to abetter version of itself according to the changes happenning over the years.
They are either pointed near the toe or are curved or are m shaped, these jutti's are made in such a way that the colour combinations of any jutti are easily paired with any type of ethnic or indo-western clothing.
Usually jutti's come in two to three types of materials, most common are leather, rexine, taiwanese sheet ,where. the leather jutti's are the most preffered one's from my experience as they last longer compared to the others materials, the only backlog you could face with a artificial leather jutti is that the odour at the start of its use is a little irritable.
THESE ARE SOME OF THE CREATIVE AND BEAUTIFUL HANDLOOMS FOUND IN RAJASTHAN , AND I SAY THAT EXPLORING THESE WAS VERY FUN AND INTERESTING!

Transiting Mercury in Gemini - 05/06-12/07
With Mercury in Gemini the wings of Hermes fasten to the mind and spin thoughts and ideas at the speed of sunlight. Think of Mercury retrograde. Now think of the opposite experience. Mercury is home in Gemini. Dualities reveal themselves in Mercury and make cosmic connections, the inherent harmony of everything becomes a game the trickster plays. Like a deck of cards, you never know what cards the mind will pull, and behind every hand laughs the joker. The joker is of course, profoundly sacred in esoteric teachings. The ancients held Mercury in high esteem they placed him on the top of the Tree of Life, and Jung even set Mercury in the midst of the Bollingen stone. Hermes is a magician with a magic wand; mediator between human and divine affairs. He is “like a teacher mediating between the stone and the disciple.” To others the friend appears in the shape of Christ or Khidr or a visible or invisible guru, or some other personal guide or leader figure. Mercury in Gemini is a tremendous time for learning, and this is learning without duty, it’s learning for fun with the insatiable curiosity of a child. If you don’t want to sleep, it’s because your inner child doesn’t want to miss a thing, too much is happening. Gemini remains so young in spirit and body because they keep their minds fresh and active. The genies of Mercury are presently activated to awaken from the cosmic night and teach humans how to travel in the astral body. This is the residence of the hieroglyph, the teachings and wisdom in reserve can be accessed in the space between the two temples on each side of the head - the universal Mind.
To enter this Temple: Evoke the colour yellow, and also amber the shade of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Call for the assistance of Raphael’s healing light and Mother Mary’s presence, call for a message from the Army of the Word on a Wednesday evening-Bathe your hands in water, or resting on the breath of your chest-Mediate on cleansing your mind, stomach, and digestive tract of contaminants, soaking the sacral chakra and region in yellow healing honey Bathe your hands in water, or resting on the breath of your chest Mediate on cleansing your mind, stomach, and digestive tract of contaminants, soaking the sacral chakra and region in yellow healing honey
