honestly, i think one of the reasons i can tolerate julian’s early seasons' behaviour towards jadzia is the way he approaches miles in an almost identical way, being annoyingly persistent, desperate for any chance to spend time alone with them, incredibly uncomfortable moments of trying to get miles to use his first name, etc. etc.
and whether I read that as julian having a similar puppy crush on miles as he does on jadzia or interpret it as a platonic desperation to make friends, either way, it at least tells me that for all julians faults (and boy are there plenty to go around—) he at least… isn’t Like That towards jadzia because she’s a woman, y’know? he’s just Like That with everyone because he’s overenthusiastic and lacking in social graces.
like, his behaviour towards jadzia is super uncomfortable and all, but the fact that he then turns around and acts the exact same way to his middle aged male coworker just… it adds something in context that shifts it from “wow julian is really creepy with women” to “wow julian is an idiot with people” for me.
i mean he is still pretty creepy with women a lot of the time and has obvious issues with toxic masculinity but at least his horrendous ‘wear them down until they say yes’ approach is apparently just the only way he seems to have of getting to know people and making friends.

no ok because forevers solo mission into the nether and all the vague ‘if I don’t return’ and ‘I’m sorry’ messages he’s left behind is made all the more heart wrenching because he wasn’t meant to be the martyr.
bad has been setting himself up for tragedy. it’s in the self destructive choices he makes, his hyper paranoia, his self isolation, the way he’s literally turning blue and can’t seem to notice it himself. and from a meta perspective, it’s obvious - he talks about lasting consequences, he makes very clear framing and music decisions, the story arc has been setting up for something big. he’s got a book that says it’s for forever’s eyes only and hinted at him needing his help. he’s said to tina that he’s 100% sure of one person ending up dead at the end of all this. he’s made it clear he’d do anything he thinks would get the kids back - self sacrifice included.
it’s been an anxious build up as bad gets worse and worse. as his friends pick up clues and notice. bagi says she knows that bad lies and can cause havoc, but she’s not going to leave his side because he is too sad to be left alone. foolish takes note of his color blindness before anyone else. forever demands his time and reassures bad daily that he is there for him. gives him a flower every day. makes an entire party just showing how much bad is cared for and loved. keeps talking and visiting even when he’s ripping out his hair with annoyance because bad just won’t quit being a nuisance, or argumentative, or a probable kidnapper.
it feels like love and doomed endings. it feels like a build up to something tragic. it feels like trying to save a drowning man who won’t let anyone pull him up. because bad is ready to work for the feds, torture people, burn down anything in his way, sacrifice himself in his desperation and grief.
but now its forever who’s gone and decided any danger to himself is worth it for his son. who’s left behind vague goodbyes and see you soons, unsure if he’ll survive but set on the kids surviving at the very least. he’s already decided his death is worth it.
and while it’s not a surprise, it’s enough of a script flip to punch us all in the gut. because we expected tragedy, we expected uneasy goodbyes and self destructive choices and that effect felt across the island - but we didn’t expect it to be forever.
and neither did bad - who relied on that flower every day
#maybe it’s more of a twist from bads perspective but like. in the roles their characters play in this story it’s now up in the air#this is like more meta analysis but like I’m fucking. freaking out about it#it’s an example of a twist that makes sense because we have seen evidence to make this believable. since the eggs first day gone forever has#been dead set on finding them. going explosive at first. he doesn’t know who he is without richas and the federation twists arms like none#other. so it’s set up. it was just half forgotten because of how much bad has been taking that role on stage yknow#if this makes any sense jfjskfkr idk it’s like yeah I was expecting 4halo bullshit angst and bad being a source of tragedy but not this#not this#mcyt#qsmp#q!bbh#bbh#forever#q!forever#qsmp meta#z speaks

it kinda bothers me when people say that tubbo snitched, because that's not what happened
Cucurucho came up to Tubbo while he was building and gave him a book with instructions that he had to go get any illegal items Ramon was in possession of and give them back to Cucurucho after, offering a grappling hook and 5 duck coins for his help
Tubbo asked if he could say no or what would happen if he just didn't, and Cucurucho pulled out a gun. Tubbo then asked if he even had a choice, and Cucurucho said no. Then he asked why Cucurucho couldn't just do it themself and it just laughed, so then Tubbo gave in and went to go get them.
Tubbo then removed the Blazecakes,but realized that also got rid of what was powering them so he just placed them back (which might have consequences in the future) and checked out other areas because of the instructions
Tubbo did not want to do this, but he did anyways because his life was being threatened the second time in two days. He also mentioned (i think?) that he didn't want to get ramon in trouble with cucurucho because he cares about Ramon
He also said that he will absolutely tell Ramon what he did, because he is not two faced
So TL;DR: Tubbo didn't snitch, Cucurucho already knew about the illegal items, he just used Tubbo as a way to get rid of them because Ramon clearly trusts Tubbo and Cucurucho hates when people are happy (the last part is /hj)

forever hilarious to me that tennis is promoted as this prestigious highbrow big-brain sport when most tennis fans these days are like. yeah this is my favorite player. yeah i don't know why they're like that. yes they are stupid. no i will not choose somebody else.
#wta tennis#atp tennis#i feel like the era of...shall we say 'federer-esque' players is waning#which i think can in part be related to the loss of the one-handed-backhand#as the sport moves more toward a necessity for fitness and athleticism players do not put as much emphasis on 'art'#which imo is fine! i think the 'art' of tennis is too protected in some ways. which i maybe will expand on later.#but i think it's too much for the tags of a (mostly) silly post#but yeah you can hear a lot of commentators touch on it#i know nadal even said something abt it recently(ish)#but i think as tennis is gradually less associated with this abstract 'image' (e.g. the obsession with federer's 'grace' and 'class')#players are coming in thinking 'this is a physical battle and i am going to win' and very much leaning into the *competition*#which not to say that they're ignoring/denying the mental aspects at all because i actually do think many players are very strategic/aware#and in truth i think many tennis players ARE actually very smart#but i also think it's less apparent because more and more players are able to just hit the shit out of the ball and call it a day#which leaves you with the occasional shot/point/game/set/match etc where it seems like they don't know what the fuck they're doing#but you think about most sports which evolve in phases#it's very normal for certain player profiles to become more or less popular as the landscape of the sport changes#or as new techniques/strategies are developed#or as new communities/populations become interested!#extreme example but think of like. high jump's fosbury flop. that was one guy!#one guy who changed the entire fucking sport! so it makes perfect sense that tennis is continuing to evolve#given how many unique players have come and gone#and how much the sport is changing externally as well as internally#anyways. this got out of hand but i love sports and i love tennis and i love my brainless players.#this whole post was inspired by rewatching sabalenka v boulter and aryna completely missed an overhead by like five feet. lol#love her <3

Honestly getting really fucking pissed at all the people saying "Know someone who's queer or trans? No you don't!" I am not letting this idiocy force me back into the closet. I am not making any of this easy for them. I think everyone should do what they need to in order to protect themselves, and if you feel you need to go back into the closet then I will not judge you, but for the love of god stop telling people they should!!! We don't survive this by fading away into obscurity; if we want any chance at salvaging our rights, we need to be loud. Have you guys forgotten how we got this far in the first place? Hell, we made strides even during the first Trump administration! For fuck's sake, people.
Do what you personally need to in order to remain safe. Do NOT advocate for a country-wide move back into the closet. There are a lot of people who cannot follow you back in there, and they need your help and support. How is the married gay couple supposed to go back into the closet? The trans person who doesn't pass, but has multiple surgeries and all of their documentation changed? Those of us who have spent years in longterm battles with our local administrations to get our correct names, gender markers, and titles recorded? Not only is this "advice" infuriating, it is useless for nearly everyone. You're advocating for the least vulnerable in our community to abandoned solidarity with the most vulnerable, and that will make it so much harder to rebuild when this nightmare is over.

I've been inactive lately because I got sick on friday and it got. worse throughout the days, but this person on twitter basically sums up my whole thought about the whole president debacle
#qsmp#dk if i should tag this as discourse#warn me if yes#but basically yeah its a weird mix of rp and meta#and looking back on it i sooo wish the “the federation can not approve it!” argument didnt exist during the debates#cause#rp aside. lets look on the meta#the admins went through all the trouble to think of the whole arc#the debates; el quackity; the voting system#and then after ALL THAT TROUBLE#they would just deny every presidential request ever???? lol#also this is something i dont think many ppl on tumblr know#because generally pt speakers dont talk about it a lot either#but the reason cellbit and forever disagreed with the council bbh and baghera proposed#was that their council would make it so there was no president#and their disagreement of this council was coming ONE HUNDRED PERCENT FROM META#because when cellbit and forever talked about it at the beginning of the elections#forever mentioned how the admins put limits on what they can do#and gave an example about the day they got felps and cellbit back where they had to do a certain way#and cellbit agreed with him#their logic was just that since the admins went through the whole trouble of coming up with the elections#its because the admins WANT to have a president and they wouldnt allow for the president to not exist#also Cellbit agreed that if you excluded the admins controlling the lore it would make sense to have a council#he said something like “in brazil we have like millions of people and we can't really have everyone give their opinions so thats why we#elect ppl to represent us. its not the case of this island where you can just go for a walk and you find out what everyone wants/thinks in#15 minutes“

I don't not mean this offensively at all but is blows my mind that you are a lawyer but also writing jjk fics bc I work at a law firm and cannot for the life of me imagine any of the lawyers that work there writing fanfiction LOL kudos to u seriously I know how busy schedues can get due to court dates haha
im working in like. big city criminal law stuff right now and have been told by people in my office that i come off as a very deadpan and straight-laced legal nerd so i don't think the people who know me from my attorney life are imagining me writing jjk fanfic in my free time either
#I've got a friend who's clerking for a federal judge rn who's also a big fandom person tho she doesn't write#the legal sphere in general really does try to consume your entire life and i sort of hate that part of the business#like i like being a lawyer but i don't like how aggressively it tries to occupy your whole life#it makes offices very cultish#i like having boundaries in life and i have plenty of friends in my office but like. i have a life outside of it too that i want to keep.#and lawyers are so up their own ass about professional reputation that fandom shit is almost never discussed in a legal environment#you could not waterboard it out of me that I write fanfic for fun at work oh my god#it's not that i'm ashamed of it to be clear i'm proud of my stories i just don't know any of them well enough to trust them yet#lawyers are assholes so often holy shit#like not all of us. some of the nicest people i have ever met are lawyers. but the culture breeds a lot of very big and fragile egos#probably more lawyers than you'd think are into fandom stuff but they absolutely do not bring that shit up#i'd like to think i'll be doing fanfic and fandom stuff for years. it's just a great community and i really really love doing it.#i'm also a kick ass lawyer tho so i'm probably gonna be doing some pretty serious shit at work and just also being a fanfic writer.#but yeah court is exhausting and chaotic and i've been in it every day for like two weeks now so feel free to shoot me

i really need white liberals to stop telling people who's loved ones are actively being murdered in a genocide funded by joe biden that they still need to vote for him because "trump is worse". I know we are all afraid of what could happen to things like reproductive rights and the lgbtq+ community under trump, that we think that is the worst nightmare to live through, but consider what palestinians are living through RIGHT NOW. they are living through their worst nightmare. and it's being funded and approved by joe biden himself. The local people where I live have a website
USAmericans who are celebrating thanksgiving today (11/23/2023) I encourage us all to find out which native tribe are the historic stewards of the land we're breaking bread on, and then find an action we can take to honor them. beyond buckskin is a great starting point for finding native-owned small businesses you can buy from. native movement has a resources list of various books, articles, podcasts, video panels and short films, etc to educate about decolonization -- not all these resources are available for free online but a good number of them are. you can always google your local tribe(s) and search for nonprofits & other social programming to support with donations of your time or money. please add links to this post if you have other resources to share!
#I actually know about the local people because people in town put up signs about them everywhere and I looked into their website#There's a lot of businesses advocating for them to regain federal recognition#and look it's more complex than that really. We have one activist group of the local people. They've scattered since.#they lost their reservation (rancheria) before I was even born#they hold regular events but it's always in the next town over so I've yet to go but now that I've Mastered The Bus I hope to go#I'm subscribed to their newsletter (one of the few emails I open)#so yeah look into your local tribes#read things you see around take an interest in your community it's the best way to learn tbh??#even my city has permanent information plaques about them though it doesn't mention the fact they lost the right to a small patch of land#The bare minimum they want is to regain Federal Status#land that... is theirs#anyway Land back

my favorite part of being a gundam fan is apparently the take of "zeon are the bad guys" is ridiculously controversial when it shouldn't be

Got a quick, easy action item for anyone with a couple minutes to spare.
The Wildland Firefighter Paycheck Protection Act is back in the Senate. If it does not pass, federal wildland firefighters will be facing a 50% paycut here in a couple months (yeah, I said FIFTY). I don't know about you, but I don't know anyone who would keep working their job if their pay got cut by fifty-percent. And right now, that cut is poised to come right at the start of the worst of fire season. I'm sure I don't need to explain why this is NOT GREAT.
Please use this handy dandy form to contact your representatives and ask them to pass this act. Call them too, if that's a thing you've got the bandwidth for!
