Reading your posts made me realise how incredible Carlos' and Lando's relationship is. And how funny it is that Carlos always corrects interviewers when they ask about his friends on the grid. He is so determend to call it a relationship rather than a friendship when what him and Lando have is closer to family than professional relationship. The majority of other drivers play group padel/golf outside of track but these two do solo dinners/celebrations and weddings. How is that a professional relationship only haha (+ I get the vibe Carlos' family, especially dad adores Lando). But I guess it's Carlos' way of protecting his heart - if he doesn't say they're friends out loud, then it cannot go wrong.

i know the world got sick of big carlando and as time has passed it's faded a bit into the background, but it's never gone away and just keeps chugging along strong. they remain friends in a way that is genuinely heartwarming, like carlos is protective of their private relationship and lando is too, and i am just thrilled that they have one worth protecting. i want them to have time together that we never know about, secret and just theirs. the amount that we already see is like the tip of an iceberg and that's profoundly satisfying. it's been years, but i'm not over it, and i'll probably never be over it. i hope they never get over it either, and we get to see them playing golf and bickering in their 60s, you know? just to know something that lasting came out of those early years at mclaren, it wasn't just a pr contract, all the affection and connection we saw was very real... it's lovely.
