Sparkstember Day 30: Whatever!

Unbelievable... I told myself that I'd do something (something pretty damn ambitious for what I usually manage to do at that) and then I actually did it! I hope you liked the posts because I really loved preparing them!! <3 Sparks mean so much to me, which is probably very easy to see by now, haha... So I'm glad I could celebrate that with you all for this entire month!

I think this is also a good time to say thank you to this whole fandom... Because as someone who was once seriously the MOST anxious person on earth that you could possibly imagine, who couldn't even bear to be perceived by anyone or participate in any community, I feel so lucky to have you all!! I've been here for only about 4 months, but it feels like much much longer than that, because my life is completely different now in a major way. I'm no longer so terribly scared to do things I want and express myself openly, and this whole month was also an amazing opportunity for the latter! And now I truly feel stronger and more ready to face new challenges and try new things than ever before! <3 Also, thank you to the folks who have shown me support when I really needed it over those past couple of months, because without you it would have been a much much harder time :) :')

Thank you all once more and see you NOT next year, I mean, yeahhhh I'll see you next year during the next Sparkstember that's true, but I can assure you that I'll still be sparksposting and sharing more doodles in the meantime!! Never putting a stop to that! :] Hooray for Sparks and this amazing fandom! ✨️✨️✨️

SURPRISE! Did you think the day would come when we would cover Love Live on this blog? I didn't!

Yohane the Parhelion: Blaze in the Deepblue is the Metroidvania-style game based on the fantasy spin-off of Love Live Sunshine, but you probably don't care about that! Statistically speaking, our target audience is Bogleech readers who are deeply revolted by anime girls!

So why bring up? Why bring it up? The answer is 🐠 FUNNY FISH! It's Funny Fish Friday!

Since this game is set in an underwater temple, the enemies this game are all based on sea creatures, and that's cool! Again, statistically speaking, you probably think sea creatures are cool. I really liked seeing the variety of enemies when playing through this game, so I thought it'd be fun if I could share them with an audience of people who otherwise wouldn't care! None of the enemies really have names, as far as I'm aware of. But I'll do my Rubesty...?

Our first guy we encounter in the game is the sort of guy who emerges from the ground like the Zombies from Castlevania, and wow! A good first impression I think. It is sort of a squid mantle, if the mantle was also a cloak for a spooky sort of wizard! The way it doesn't really have a 'face' in the hood and the eye is below really makes it seem like a weird mimic creature. Cool!

They also get a tough lategame variant which looks like a mix between a flapjack and a vampire squid. You don't often see flapjacks be designed as scary!

Next is Barnacles! A whole clump of them, like a cake. They shoot Energy Balls at you. Is this what Barnacles can do if they combine their powers...? The top actually opens up, and it looks a lot like a sea urchin's mouth! So maybe it is some sort of naked urchin creature covered in barnacles? Game Theory!

There are also barnacles with Ice Powers. Like real life!

Let's give it up for Garden Eel!!!!

What a fine Garden Eel it is! Complete with the sort of grumpy face, and with the addition of two little arms that make it look like it's praying or maybe a bit shy. But it is mean! It also spits energy balls at you, then hides in the hole so you can't hit it. How very sneaky!

SO sneaky, in fact, that these eels have mastered the art of ninjutsu! The ninja eel shows up for a split second in one single room, before smoke bombing away. You'd have to use a time freeze power to get him, but I never got around to doing that. I don't have any beef with a ninja eel! I respect him and his training!

Did someone say CTENOPHORE? I hope you did, or my hearing has really gotten worse. This thing is a grade A ctenophore, only with a ring of Scary Teeth! A little scary to think of a ctenophore who could Bite you, but nonetheless this deserves a :ctenopog:!

Let's not forget Fish Vortex! Fish Vortex was the first guy to make me go 'wow, this game's enemies really are awesome!' So of course I had to put him at the top of the post! He is my selling point! I am selling all these enemies to you. For 4.99 a pop!

Anyway. This design is just so funny and cool at the same time. A swirling school of fish that leads into an endless dark abyss, and in the middle, a big eyeball. Also covered in fish. It shoots fish at you! Yay!

There is also a pink variant - it shoots fish that give you the Solitude status effect, which basically just makes Yohane too depressed to summon her friends. Meaning? They are Depression Fish! Maybe she just becomes so jealous of the unity and teamwork of these sardines. She's me like just for real! ^_^

This slug is an umbrella. That is ridiculous! Ridiculously EPIC! It does the opposite of shield you from rain, which is create rain, that kills you. But I would still want one as an umbrella.

When I first saw this thing, I thought it was some strange round Echimoderm I had never heard of. But upon further inspection (I actually asked Mod Chikako shh), it is obviously like a Brittle Star, with each arm folded round to form a wheel! How creative and fun! It even has a bunch of eyes like a starfish!

Last but not least- sushi! There are sushi guys and they are cute. They don't really do much and are typically found in their own rooms, so I'm not sure what the point of them is. But finding a funny walking sushi should be a reward in of itself, I guess! Look at their funny rice feet! Or the one with the roe eyes!

I happened to use fire magic on one of them and this happened. Oopsies...

Now I am sure you are saying, thank you for showing me all these funny enemies. But are there any cool bosses? Of course there are, me! What's a Metroidvania without cool bosses? So I shall show you my favorites without delay!

First is this freak (affectionate)! It is a sort of amalgamation of lots of different animals and I think it just looks plain cool! Two squid mantles combined into one, a bit of a sea angel shape, bug legs and of course a great big eyeball!

If it is not freaky enough for you, let it be known that the bug legs turn into big green skeleton hands, and it also keeps getting pinker, and it grows new eyes and then extra horns grow out of those eyes. If THAT is not freaky enough for you then I am sorry but I cannot do anything about that.

Now, how about a sampling of this Freaken Thang? It honestly doesn't seem that sea-creature themed, but it uses seashells so I guess it counts!

What is really neat is that this boss has two different forms, upside down and rightside up! When it is upside down it looks a bit like a Magolor type creature. And of course, I really like the flame thing in the middle as well, that really feels like a Kirby enemy or something! Like a wisp made of plasma!

Fans of Anomalocaris won't be disappointed by this one! It's a big Anomalocaris tank and boy is it cool! There's something for everyone here, whether you're an Anomalocaris purist or you've always wanted to see it turn into a sort of futuristic beast with a screen mouth that shoots lasers! It really is the future, zura...

After covering all these wacky creatures, I'm going to have to end it off with the final boss! What could the big bad, the ultimate boss of all these sea monsters even be, I wonder? Well, it's...

...a coelecanth. Just a big coelacanth! It is big and blue! And really, does it need to be anything else? It is such an honor to make the biggest ultimate boss a coelacanth. It is even pretty cute!! Think he's smiling! 😊

Uh oh! Is it still cute? I guess so. My first thought seeing this was of course the world-renowned tongue eating isopod, so I really hope it was an intentional reference! It probably just wants to shake hands. Still, a pretty simplistic design for our final boss, right?

Buu buu! Its true form actually looks like this! Actually, it's kind of doing too much. Like let's tone it down a little?

So!! We beat the mega ultra coelacanth, and now we can find out what his motivation is! And it is... that he is the memories of the people of the past or something. And they all didn't want to be forgotten, so they turned into fish monsters! But we forgive them!

It doesn't really matter. All the girlies gather around and sing him a song. Look how happy he is! I forgot I was talking about a Love Live game until now, actually. All's well that ends well, the end, et cetera! Hit it, Yohane! [imagine this is like the end of a kids movie where all the Love Live girls are having a dance party and there is a shot of the big coelacanth in jail and he's tapping his mouth fingers along to the beat]

Okay, I'm gonna post these I've had since Christmas, and then I'd rather not do anymore "kink confessions." Like I've said I was never actually doing that in the first place, some people just talked about their kinks and then people started sending in more. I have ZERO problem with kink talk and actively encourage you to talk to me about your kinks, but the issue with sending in just to say "I have this kink!" is that then everyone sends in more and more for the rrrrrest of eternity. mould kink guy. big thing for me is like growing mould? and like it slowly consuming me. like I notice there's mould growing on my feet and then later it's up my legs and then before long it's grown all over me and i'm no longer human I've been consumed by the mould. or like some sort of food-themed degradation about how I'm not good anymore cause I'm growing mould now. there's someone who draws (very much non-kink) art of fruit people going mouldy and I guess one day I was looking at it and I was like. wish that was me.

One of the confessions a while back about normalization kink made me remember something I used to fantasize a lot about as a teenager (and am now fantasizing about again, lol) where it was totally normal to have the option to sign away all your rights and become basically a human sex toy.

There was a virginity element, where people would pay extra for each avenue of virginity (anal, oral, and vaginal) and they referred to the hymen being intact and un-stretched as the tamper seal. (Not exactly anatomically correct but ya know, fantasy land.)

Sometimes a toy could be returned for a partial refund, and the more times they’d been used and returned, the more desperate for stimulation they’d be, to the point where some of the toys needed to plug up their holes when they weren’t actively being used.

There was just this big wall of glass display cases with naked toys, with a price, their virginity status, and for a few “No Returns, No Refunds” warning, because they were getting too slutty for the facility to manage after too many return cycles.

The salesperson would walk customers down the line and talk about each of the products. How “this one is expensive, but as you can see, it still has its tamper seal in tact! Completely virginal, or your money back!” or “If you’re looking for a discounted option, this toy was lightly used, but is still tight,” or “This one needs a lot of extra care. We’re no longer taking returns for it, but if you want something you can be rough with, then it might be the toy for you! Plus it’s a real bargain. We’re practically giving it away at this point!”

Some buyers would pick virgin toys just to return them completely fucked out and worth half their original value.

Never could quite tell if I was supposed to be the toy, the buyer, or the salesperson in this fantasy, but I sure had fun either way!

yay another art plan is done (hoping to not lose all the other ones in my head)

at first i just wanted to make a post with only Zeefarer, and specifically tell a story about why a version of her as a sequencer is even scarier than ONE OF THE SCARIEST canon variants, and how did we even come to this

but another idea with this suddenly happened, and i love it so much too (i've had an idea of making references for fl/ss characters like i did for Kys, and i think that's when i'm gonna explain everything, THERE'S GONNA BE A LOT OF TEXT, AGAIN)

actually it's a silly trend that i've of course MISSED, but today i'm gonna talk about those two BECAUSE!!!! ABSOLUTELY SUDDENLY THIS PAIR TURNED OUT TO BE MORE INTERESTING THAN JUST A "HEEHEE I LOVE THOSE CHARACTERS, THEY'RE A COUPLE NOW"

at first it was actually like this, that's a normal situation for me

BUT HERE'S AT LEAST TWO SITUATIONS THAT MAKE THEM AWESOME

(I have to cut posts so often, I LOVE WRITING LETTERS SO MUCH)

if you've played through icarian cup, you know that the main thing about Zeefarer is her neverending lexicon of zailor speech, which is not just a fun detail, but also a part of her drama as a character, because the only one who understands her and is her only actual friend (and a translator) is a boot from Polythreme, but here's a thing, SHE LOSES IT TOO (by her own will) AFTER THE RACE (in our variant) as well as her crew, which could at least half understand her, and which probably ended up becoming sequencers

that's already a situation

BUT WE ALSO HAVE DIPLOMAT

who doesn't keep diplomatic notes in principle, either because of their boundless cunning, or because of their excellent memory, honestly I think both

AND LITERALLY, when they talk with Zeefarer, they could memorize her speech expressions and sooner or later start to understand her without any help

THIS IS VERY CUTE

i especially can imagine a situation in which the Zeefarer notices this herself, specifically when Diplomat translates her words for another person, just like the helpful boot in the ES (would be nice to draw this too but i'm not promising this)

AND HERE'S A SECOND SITUATION, that happens somewhere in the middle of the first one

as you could guess, in our variant the Zeefarer "wins" but manages to get saved, it's a spoiler, so i'm just gonna tell that despite being saved and the fact that the winner gets to their senses, is actually going through a sort of an adaptation (which is still a headcanon but takes root in many reasons, such as the fact that when he's saved, the Excursionist mentions that his dreams haven't went back to normal) and it's impossible to save them from becoming at least a normal sequencer

and i've already told that the Zeefarer is already in a situation, and that adds more to it, because even if the person can resist it, it's inevitable, and the more they resist the worse is their mental state and this makes it easier for a person to just break and get back to the machine (in our thoughts, you need to at least just get back to the geode)

unfortunately, it's not very easy to break Zeefarer despite the first half of her situation, and she could extend this until something really bad would happen

but thankfully there's a Diplomat who is an informant of the new sequence, they are clearly not allowed to know the true purpose of icarian cup, but here it's obvious that the one who disappears becomes a sequencer (BUT THERE'S A NUANCE, YEAH)

but anyway, we also have the Commodore, who's VERY good at reading people, and definitely knows how does the machine and the sequencers work, so he could understand that the Zeefarer's adaptation would be difficult, and to make sure that everything goes nicely (this is a new sequencer after all, and a useful one), it wouldn't hurt to send somebody to help her (and especially if it's a person who is not a sequencer, i think)

i don't have any ideas of how this dialogue would go, but definitely not that easily due to the Zeefarer's personality and her mental state, but in the end very effective

and despite this whole scary way, we actually come to a happy end, yay

(oh and she also gets her crew back then, not the ship from the race tho, which is kind of funny)

Happy 13th Anniversary Ninjago!

I wasn’t well prepared to celebrate so here’s this little one shot I wrote a while ago and didn’t know what to do with. And this so happens to be my 100th post. Yay!

 Summary: Jay, Kai, and Nya are raking leaves. It's a rather mundane chore, but things get interesting when a prank goes awry.

    Morro is alive and happily living with the Ninja because I say so. And as far as timeline goes, this is set loosely after season 13.

   "Ugh, I hate raking leaves," whined Jay, halfheartedly poking at his meager pile of leaves. He just didn't understand how this many dead leaves could possibly pile up at the top of the mountain!

    "I could burn them all real quick," offered Kai, igniting his palm. His sister immediately doused him, much to his annoyance and soggy hair and gi.

    "No! Are you crazy?!" berated Nya.

    "A little," snickered Jay, but was quickly silenced by a sharp glare from his girlfriend.

    She continued, "We don't need this place burning down again."

    Kai sighed, "Fine. But let's at least use some Spinjitzu to speed this process up."

    Jay perked up, "All right!"

    Just as the boys were about to kick back into their colorful tornados, Nya stopped them again, "No! Spinjitzu is an ancient art. We shouldn't use it for such menial tasks. Besides, Master Wu warned us 'Haste makes mistakes'."

    "Why do you have be such a stick in the mud?" groaned Kai.

    Nya gave a mischievous grin, pointing out, "Actually, if we take long enough doing this, we won't have to help Lloyd do the laundry."

    The boys smirked, catching on. With that, they got to raking at a decent pace (not too fast though). However, just as they were finishing up, Lloyd and Morro walked out into the monastery courtyard, laden with clean laundry to put away. 

    The Green Ninja's eyes lit up with youthful glee as he caught sight of the magnificent pile of leaves in the middle of the courtyard. He carefully set down his laundry basket, and the three rakers caught on a split second too late as he darted toward the pile. 

    Time seemed move in slow motion as Lloyd leaped into the air as Jay, Nya, and Kai frantically screeched, "Noooo!"

    Time went back to normal as the blonde boy landed in the giant pile with a muffled whump. It was rather anticlimactic for the people watching as they expected their hard work to scatter everywhere. Fortunately for them, the large leaf mountain was big enough that it simply swallowed his impact and engulfed the boy whole.

    A few moments later, Lloyd popped his head out, laughing as he carefully extracted himself. "That was awesome!"

    The others snorted at their younger brother's joy. They supposed a few scattered leaves were worth it if they brought him some happiness.

    Morro plodded over, looking thoughtfully at the giant pile. "You think we could all fit in there."

    "Yeah. Maybe," shrugged Nya. "Why?"

    "Wanna scare someone?" smirked the Master of Wind.

    A playful glint alighted in all their eyes. After a morning of dull chores, they were all eager to do something fun.

    Right before he dived into the pile after the others, Lloyd called at the top of his lungs, "Uncle Wu!"

    The hidden Ninja went as still as possible and tried their best to withhold their giggles. They waited carefully until they could hear footsteps right in front of the leaf pile. They sprung their ambush, jumping out and shouting.

    "Yyaaa– ugh!"

    Morro's yelling turned into a sharp gasp of pain as someone's fist collided very hard with his midsection. Apparently, it wasn't Master Wu who they had managed to surprise but Pixal instead.

    The silver-haired girl had a mixed expression of concern and annoyance as she and the others stared down at the downed Master of Wind. "I thought you were supposed to be finishing your chores."

    "We did." Lloyd looked at the scattered leaves and laundry that had yet to be put up. He amended, "Er, are going to."

    "I haven't seen you do anything useful today," wheezed Morro accusingly as he slowly stood, trying to act nonchalant and shake off the pain.

    Pixal crossed her arms, and the others could tell she was about to go off on Morro. "Actually, while you were off gallivanting in Shintaro and then decided to stay out for an adventure for another entire month as you all traveled 'wherever the wind took you', I was left in charge of the upkeep of whole monastery as well as covering for all eight of you in defending Ninjago City."

    "During the time of your absence, I managed to clean and organize every single one of your sleeping quarters—which need I remind you, were downright filthy—, update the defense systems in the monastery, do the dishes, and answer 162 distress calls. With that data, I say you have very little left to do and nothing to complain about."

    Morro's resentment had definitely melted away into respect. He simply gave a nervous "okay" along with the others after her mini rant.

    As the Samurai walked away to finish enjoying her day off, Lloyd murmured, "I think Pixal's a little salty at us."

    "Ya think," snorted Kai. "Zane definitely rubbed off on her. Remember when he would passive aggressively do the chores while slamming things around to remind us how we weren't helping him."

    After they all finished sharing a good chuckle, Nya clapped her hands. "Okay, boys. Let's finish this."

    "One more jump," said Lloyd quickly as he leaped into the leaves again. 

    Just to humor him Morro and the others followed suit. However, somewhere in the mix, a leaf tickled the Master of Wind's nose, and he couldn't stop a sneeze from coming out. For some reason, the sneeze triggered a slight Elemental reaction which sent leaves flying in every direction.

    "Morro! C'mon!" cried Jay in dismay.

    Kai sullenly surveyed the damage before exclaiming, "All right. Spinjitzu it is!" In less than five seconds flat, he had cleared the courtyard of leaves, throwing them over the side of the wall.

    He dusted his hands off proudly until Lloyd suddenly brought up, "Hey. Where'd all the laundry go?"

    The Ninja stared at the spot where the two baskets used to be then let their gazes travel up to the top of the wall where a pair of blue underpants were snagged and flapping lazily in the breeze. It was clear where the rest of their clothes had gone.

    "Don't suppose anyone will really miss those? I mean, a wardrobe replacement is always good, right?" chuckled Kai nervously.

    The others groaned and glared at the Red Ninja. Now it was going to be an even longer day.

Protea Prime next this week

Protea Prime herself and her awesome trailer have come out since I took these notes, so I'm just going to link the prime access trailer and website promo instead of my usual preview descriptions. Definitely watch the trailer, it's....inspiring. We've had such banging soundtracks for the prime trailers lately!

May 15 "Interim" Update:

Will bring next season of Nightwave; the current season will end on that day, and the next will start two hours later (on the same day; how nice, I hate waiting that extra week). Comes with a set of "daybreak" skins for the nukor, glaive, kubrows (?), and the ✨CEDO✨(my Lavos bias comes through)

Some tennogen skins, nice to see skins for less represented boys Revenant and Baruuk. There will be another batch of tennogen in the Jade Shadows that includes a skin for Lavos (hype).

They wanted to include more direct visual inspiration on the Stalker's weapons but they were determined "too edgy" lol. But they're still Stalker-inspired. She has Evensong (Jade!Dread, which I'm especially excited for), Cantare (Jade!Despair, which I hope has better stats than the OG), and Harmony (Jade!Hate)

The Stalker has a Landing Craft Skin called "Terror." Which is very cohesive with the rest of the Stalker aesthetic.

Operation: Belly of the Beast: A clan operation that will launch with Jade Shadows.

Alchemy in the circuit! As an enjoyer of both the alchemy game mode and the circuit (and not a fan of its defense or assassination), this is welcome for me!

Apparently the AI level changes are important for crossplay; "a bouquet of QOL" that will bring a better experience for many.

Medical debt bond drop rates adjusting includes a replacement for the credits reward in bounties. and there was much rejoicing.

Here Comes Pablo's Rant: impending enemy scaling & status effects rework

As with all of Pablo's mechanics overviews, I recommend watching (or reading) this yourself if you want a deeper look. He's always very informative.

"A lot of this may change" off to a great start

Devs are considering adding a damage cap for enemy armor and adjusting the damage resistance function of armor. reasoning: armor strip should be a viable strategy but not an absolute requirement for higher level play.

Status type mechanics will be simplified: type effectiveness bonuses are now going to be by faction instead of by flesh/armor/shield material -> with exceptions:: Kuva Grineer, Amalgam Corpus, Deimos Infested

Buffing some less used status effects: Cold will now fully freeze enemies, which doubles crit bonus Gas will be more visible visually (but mechanically the same) Magnetic…will depend on how the shield rework goes (yay playtesting). Blast "will be blasty." I've been hoping for a Blast buff for AGES so I'm excited to see what we get from that admittedly very vague teaser.

You can tell he knows the fanbase is already going to flame him for even coming close to nerfing viral/heat/slash, because he said several times they are not being altered. We love you Pablo.

Semi-auto weapons are going to have automatic (not needing to re-click) shooting mode, but (similarly with the shield gating rework last year) you'll be able to keep your semiautomatic flavour with a new mod that disables this new functionality in exchange for a big buff. Effectively replacing Shred with another high-damage, high-punch-through mod.

12. Describe your process while drawing

Ok so it all starts with the sketch. Sketch is usually BAD bc its in front of white so i fill the background with GRay. Then i add light and shadow and its still BAD. I create a new layer and start fixing mistakes on top of it. I cant erase lower layers and it annoys me so i merge everything. Awesome👍. That will not cause me problems Ever! Haha we actually dont need eraser anymore, as it does nothing😁😁😁 yay. Ok so then i try every out of 100 gradient maps on top of it and then return to the one i use every single time because the rest of them look BAD and pick colors manually. I still hate it, so i make a texture out of generated noise and wave distort and put it on top, i hate it every time, i delete it. I try to add more orange, because i really like orange. Does it make it better Not Necessarily but it makes it more orange which i like. Last possible moment i notice that proportions are off and what i do. Of coursee repaint the entire thing on one layer yoppiii yeah then i adjust contrast and levels and everything and then i post it and forget to tag it with my art tag

ive taken a break from writing my newst fic but when school rolls around again i’m gonna start again. it’s in its earliest drafting stages right now and i am horrible with pacing and plot holes but that’s what i’m tying up in the outline. i guess this is like my official announcement for it since i’m working on a prologueish thing for it! yapfest under cut

okay yay this fic will actually be different from the others in its uploading. as ive seen that uploading chapters as i write them does NOT work in the case of my past fics, this one will be prewritten and uploaded on a schedule. sadly until i’m done with it i have to postpone my other fics but idk if anyone would care because neither have updated in months LMFAO

anyways the plot! it’s called televangelism (for reasons revealed later). as the title suggests, it revolves around a lot of religious themes (projecting my religious trauma onto tha Characters), as well as themes of grief and coming of age. AWESOME!

it’s based on my own childhood as well as a collection of music albums and movies and even other fics! it has a little bit of like a road trip in the middle of nowhere (well. that is the setting for most of it) feel? i was in the middle of nowhere in alabama when i wrote the third draft of the plot so like. yeah

it mostlyyyyy centers around misha and noel they split the role of protagonist but the rest of the choir + some other people are pretty major too. You’ll see you’ll see

i’ll be posting a lot of art and promo related to it on my tumblr once i get the first few chapters done and posted. the schedule will likely be a chapter or two a week so that i have plenty of time to work on future chapters. like i probably wont start posting until i’m at least 5 or 6 chapters in. the fic itself will be split up into 3 parts (im not sure how many chapters per part just yet) but im hoping to round it to about 12-14 chapters? idk depends on how long i make the chapters!

im really really excited about this one specifically just due to how personal to me it is. ive had the idea since around april? but i never got too far into it. but now i’m actually starting to make it and this time i will actually finish it (unlike other projects of mine)
