Sweatshirt
(Oh My God, they were roommates.)
Hypnos x male!reader
Fluff, hurt/comfort
1.5k
Heavy Kissing, family issues
roommates/friends to lovers, modern AU
A/N:, for the prompt: sweatshirt, hope you guys enjoy it. It was fun to write. To the Anon, hope this was what you're looking for.
Quickly, you sipped it on and got your backpack on your way out. Just this once, you told yourself.
You didn't plan to take it. It's just so cold out and you haven't done your laundry in a week. It wasn't your fault the bright red sweatshirt was tossed over an armchair, looking better than the only thin shirt you had. It wasn't like Hypnos, sound asleep in his warm bed and would be for the rest of the day, needed it.
💤
You could smell his cologne all day, warm and inviting. You tried to study the textbook and forced yourself to read the words. Dumb words that you need to know for some dumb reason. Why did you think grad school was a good idea?
You looked up from the textbook and its horrible letters, and saw the library was empty.
With some mile guilt, you buried your nose into the collar of the sweatshirt and took a deep breath. It felt dizzying and you closed your eyes.
You didn't have a crush on your roommate, who has been your friend since the first day of college you told yourself firmly. You just really liked his cologne, a lot.
You totally haven't thought about kissing him for years.
You're going to ask him for the cologen name afterwards. And you would never sniff or steal his sweatshirt ever again.
You were such a lier.
💤
You almost didn't make it back in time. With twenty minutes of you tossing the sweatshirt on it's spot on the armchair, Hypnos stepped out of his room with a wide yawn.
"Oh, Y/N, you're back already?" Hypnos asked sleepily, scratching at his chest. Your eyes followed the movement and you had to pull your eyes away from Hypnos.
You went back poking the diced chicken around the pan.
You didn't have a crush on your roommate. it's just been a while. A very long while.
You noticed Hypnos grabbed the sweatshirt and paused. You held your breath; there's no way he could know right?
Hypnos took a sniff and your heart almost fell out of your chest before he shrugged and pulled it over his head.
"Hey, I'm making some butter chicken if you want something before you start streaming." You called out, trying to sound calm.
You blushed at Hypnos' grin, "Aw, Y/n. Did you do that just for me?"
Hypnos peeked over your shoulder at the chicken frying in the pan and wrapped his arm around your waist, his head on your shoulder. "Too bad you're not my boyfriend or otherwise I could ask for this every day."
"Oh my god, Hypnos. Back off, man." You pushed at his forehead. After a moment, he let go with a laugh
"Yeah, thanks. It sounds great." Hypnos said. "Have I told you what happened on twitch last night?"
"Hmm, no I don't think so." You said, secretly enjoying how domestic it was between you two.
"Okay so get this-" Hypnos rambled on and you tried to listen. You really did even all you could think was how much you wanted to kiss him.
Stupid Hypnos and his stupid sweatshirt.
💤
You weren't trying to make this into a habit, you swear after the fourth time. You just saw it tossed over Hypnos' computer chair and took it without thinking.
Which was a mistake because now your professor was explaining something you needed to know and all you could think about was how good you felt in the sweatshirt. The cologne was still just as intoxicating as before and you kept reminding yourself that you were in class.
Just half an hour to go.
💤
When you came home, the first thing you could smell was smoke. You rushed into the kitchen in a panic and pulled the burnt pot off the stove.
Quickly, you tossed the pot into the sink and ran cool water over it. You stared down the burnt noodles that had become one with the pot.
Did Hypnos forget he was cooking again? You sighed, you were going to have to talk to him.
It's when you went into the den where Hypnos normally was, that you saw him. He was shirtless and only wearing a pair of basketball shorts. It was dipped low enough that you were very aware that he wasn't wearing underwear.
And Hypnos was pacing around, holding his phone and pitching his face.
Hypnos was a lazy creature by nature and you knew if he didn't have any biological needs,he would just sleep all the time and never move.
Your heart sank a little, there were only two people in the world that could get a reaction like that.
And apparently, you had just walked right in the middle of it.
"Mom, do we really need to have this fight once a month? I- no it is! This isn't a fun little chit chat. That's the problem with you guys, you never just say stuff as it is." Hypnos snapped back quickly.
He saw you and gestured to his phone, aggravation was sharp on his face but you knew wasn't at you.
You nodded and stepped out. After a moment, you pulled out your phone to order pizza.
You could still hear the argument in the background as you lay down with your textbook on the sofa. Not that you will be able to pay attention to it. You kicked off your sneakers carelessly, trying to listen in on the phone call.
"You know I have a job, just because you don't understand- I don't need to, I graduated too! just because I didn't become a lawyer like mr.perfect -"
You grimaced at Hypnos' tone. You had the misfortune of getting to watch his family's relationships slowly become more strained over the years even with Hypnos' best attempts to bond more. Charon, his husband Hermes and Zagreus were the only ones whom Hypnos talked to regularly now.
Silence filled the apartment and you looked up. When Hypnos didn't come out, you got up.
"Hypnos?" You called out, "Hey, dude. I ordered pizza!"
After a few moments, you walked into the den.
Hypnos had his head in his hands, fingers in his messy curls. The computer was turned off and you could see the phone thrown on the desk.
Quietly, you walked over and placed a hand on his shoulder, "Hey. It's gonna be okay."
Hypnos sighed, tension mostly leaving his body.at your touch. "It's just… I don't know, Y/N. I'm just… It's always one step forward and two backwards with them."
Finally he looked up to You. Hypnos' eyebrows raised in surprise. "Y/N, are you wearing my sweatshirt?"
You could feel the blood rushed out of your face, with everything going on you had forgotten you were wearing it.
"No?" You whispered.
Hypnos stood with a slight smile on his face. "I think you are, Y/N."
"I'm sorry. I won't -" You went to pull it off but Hypnos grabbed your hand to stop you. His other hand cooked a finger into your jean belt loop and tugged you closer. And you obeyed before you even thought about it.
You flushed, not quite able to look at Hypnos or even think about what was happening.
"It looks good on you. I like it." Hypnos murmured softly.
"T-thanks. I won't steal it again..." you trailed off.
"You can keep it. I want to see you wear it." Hypnos said. He let go of your hand, and placed his hand on your hip, it felt so big and warm.
"Do you want it?" Hypnos asked after a moment.
Do you want me?
You met his golden eyes, it was only because you knew him so well that you heard the unask question.
You placed your hands on his shoulders, and nodded.
The both of you meet in the kiss at the same time. Hypnos kissing you felt like most natural thing in the world. Hypnos pulled you flushed against him to deepen the kiss.
You hummed, fingers stoked his chest, loving how he felt against you. Hypnos pushed at your hips as he took steps forward and made you take backward steps.
You broke the kiss to try ask him what he was doing but he catched your mouth into another kiss.
Your back meet the wall and Hypnos blocked you in his arms by your head.
You gasped against his lips when you felt Hypnos press his body against you. You somehow flushed even harder when you felt his hardness against your thighs.
You pulled away from the kiss, desperate for breath. "Hypnos." You said but you couldn't think what else to say.
Hypnos was just as flushed, his white curls mussed. "You don't know how long I've been waiting to do that."
You nodded, "Me too." You kissed him again, slower and sweeter. You wanted to take your time, it still doesn't feel real.
Hypnos broken the kiss and his golden eyes studied your face.
You smiled, "You are never getting this sweatshirt back." You told him happily.
Hypnos just laughed and pulled you into another kiss.

Chapter 13: Welcome Back
Chapter 12 Here  Chapter 14 Here
Later that morning, after a good long snuggle session, you finish packing for your trip. You find yourself back in your office with Yondu so you can lock everything up before you leave. Kraglin is the only one with a key to anything, but the captain wants to be sure no one can get in your office to snoop around.
He wanders over to your desk to make sure the drawers are locked, and he finds something odd in the top drawer. “Whatssis?” he asks, picking up the notebook and flipping through some pages.
You gasp and quickly pull the notebook from his hands. “Nothing! It’s nothing. Just some doodles and notes. Nothing important.”
“Notes about what? Doodles? Why can’t I see it – huh?" He presses.
“It’s just nothing important. Doesn’t matter.” You turn to stuff it in your bag and hope he lets it go. You’ll never admit it, but you’re a little embarrassed. These notes and doodles were from when you first starting falling for Yondu, and they were kinda dorky. Little planets, stars, hearts and Yondu’s arrow piercing through a larger heart was scribbled all over various pages. You even started writing his name in cursive on some of the pages.
“Uh, no. Hand it over missy. No secrets 'tween us.”
You reluctantly hand him the notebook and hope like hell he won’t taunt you for it.
“I dunno what yer worried about. It’s just little shapes and planets and stars on here. And an arrow? What’s this stuff on the side?” Yondu points to the cursive writing on the page he is referring to.
Of course! Yondu can’t read English cursive handwriting!
“You mean you can’t read that?”
“Those are letters?! No, I can’t read that. It ain’t like no language I’ve ever seen.”
“Yondu, it’s called cursive, or script. It’s a form of English Terran writing. I learned it when I was really young. I love writing this way, it’s really relaxing.”
“Okay, so whatsit say?”
“That’s your name. Those are planets and stars, that’s your arrow, and those are little hearts. Your arrow is going through that heart like Cupid’s arrow. I think I actually doodled some of this the night I went to the bar with you for Geff’s birthday.”
“What’s a Cupid?” He asks.
“Oh, Cupid is…well, he’s Roman. It’s a long story involving Terran history. Basically, it’s symbolic of love. If Cupid, an ancient Roman deity, shoots you through the heart with his arrow, the first person you see after he shoots you is the one you fall in love with. It’s totally a myth, but that myth goes back thousands of years. When you fall in love with someone, people will sometimes say – ‘you must have been shot by Cupid’s arrow!’ Kinda silly when you think about it.”
“So ya drew all this ‘cause you were thinkin’ about me?” He continues to flip through the pages, and each one is a little different than the last.
“Well…yeah. I did. But this was all before I had the guts to come out about how I felt. So, I poured it all into my notes. I never thought you’d find it.”
A little smirk appears on his face as he marvels at the pages. He snaps the notebook closed and throws it back into the drawer before he locks it. “Let’s keep this safe here until we get back. Then I wanna bring it back ta our quarters so I can look at it whenever I want.”
~~~
The two of you pack up your belongings into the Warbird before you head out. Kraglin shows up in the docking bay to see you off. He greets you with a smile and a friendly hug.
“You better get back up here soon. The boys’ll miss ya too much.” Kraglin is only half joking. There is no doubt that there has been some worry among not just Yondu and Kraglin, but a few of the guys that you won’t come back, but no one has said anything. What you didn’t know, was that you really had made a big impact on the whole crew. Your outburst in the mess several weeks ago made the crew start thinking about who they are, what they stand for, and what they want out of life. Not that much has truly changed, but the seed was definitely planted thanks to you.
“Awww. What would you guys do without me?” You tease. You hug Kraglin back and Yondu tells you go ahead and get comfortable on board. He’s got something to discuss with Kraglin.
Yondu watches you step on the Warbird and he turns back to Kraglin. “Alright, so I’ve programmed our comms to have a little bit farther reach so I can still get ahold of ya if things go sour. I don’t think anything is gonna happen down there, but I wanna be careful. Terrans are s’damn touchy. Keep this on you at all times. Same goes fer me. If anythin’ fishy happens on board while I’m gone, you comm me and I’ll be up here quick as I can. I trust you and the boys to keep this place handled and I trust you to choose second in command while I’m not here.”
“Yessir. We’ve got it handled. Don’t worry about a thing. Go down there and make the most of it. We’ll be in touch if we need anything.” Kraglin pats Yondu on the back with a reassuring smirk. Yondu rolls his eyes and smirks back before boarding the ship.
Yondu sits next to you in his pilot chair and hits the ignition. Before long, you’re out of the docking bay of the Eclector, and off into open space. The two of you are silent for a few minutes until you hear Yondu speak up first.
“So – uh…I know yer really excited, and I know how much ya love yer Earth and yer family…but there’s somethin’ that’s been on my mind fer a while. I gotta just get it out there.” He hesitates for a moment while he programs the ship to auto pilot. “If we get there, and all goes well, and ya start feelin’ like ya wanna stay, I won’t hold it against ya. I know how much it all means to ya, and I won’t be mad atcha’ if you decide to stay with yer family.” He notices you start to protest, and he raises his hand so you let him finish. “Honey, you were kidnapped. You were stolen from yer home and yer family. You were sold and traded and bartered for like property. Ya got lucky when you escaped from the Skrull, and ya did pretty well fer yerself on Krylor. Yer a tough woman – you’ve proved that. I just wonder if being back home and with yer people won’t make ya wanna stay with ‘em.”
“Yondu, I understand your concern, but I am not leaving you. Ever. Yes, I love my family. Yes, I love my planet and everything that comes with it. But, after all I’ve been through I think I’ve realized that I love you more. My life has changed drastically over the past few years, and I don’t think I would change a thing that happened. Every single step I’ve taken since that morning by the river has brought me to you. Since finding you, I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. I don’t think anything can change that.”
Yondu just stares at you. The happiest she’s ever been? With me and that sleezy crew that calls 'emselves Ravagers? Even after what happened with Trenvik? He doesn’t say a word. Instead, he simply takes your hand and brings it to his lips. He then covers your hand with his, and sighs. You stand and walk to him. You carefully nestle yourself in his lap, snuggling your head into the crook of his neck. Yondu wraps his arms around you, and you feel him relax beneath you.
“How long until we approach the solar system?” You ask.
“It’ll be a couple hours until we reach that first little planet’s orbit, and then several more hours ‘til we close in on Terra’s atmosphere. The Warbirds thrusters are wide open, but it’s still a good distance. Gotta hand it ta ya Terran’s…ya’ll got a big solar system fer sure. Have ya even explored all of the planets here, or are they too far apart?”
“We know a lot about the other planets and their moons, but we haven’t visited them other than sending rovers to take videos and photos. They’re too far apart for what technology we have. Our rockets are super slow, and we burn through too much fuel. But, we do know a lot about the different atmospheres of each planet. We know their surface temperatures, and which ones might have had liquid water at some point. Not a single one is suitable for much life, but there is talk about the possibility of colonizing Mars.”
“Hmm.” He says simply. “Tell me somethin’ about Terra.”
“Like what?”
“Anything. What’s the first thing ya think of?”
“Hmm. Well…when I think of Earth, I think of the trees. I think about the forests, rivers, waterfalls, and wildlife. Sometimes humans forget that we aren’t the only ones who call Earth home, but I never forget. Each creature has value. From the tiniest bird in the sky, to the largest whale in the ocean. We are all connected, and we all have something to give.”
“What’s a whale?” he asks.
You simply giggle and rub his arm. “I’ll show you when we get there. Anything you wanna know, I’ll teach you. I can’t wait to show you everything.”
A few more hours go by with idle chit chat, and occasional comfortable silence. You tell him all about your home, the city you lived in, and what it was like growing up on Earth. You catch Yondu smiling at some of the stories you tell and he thinks your sister sounds annoying, but nice nonetheless. You begin to yawn and doze off a little in his lap. “Hey, why doncha’ go get some sleep in the bed back there. I’ll be fine up here – ain’t tired yet. We’ll be there before ya know it.”
“But I don’t wanna leave you all alone up here.” You say.
“It’s alright baby, I’ve flown a lot longer than this in my time. Go on now, getcha some sleep. I’ll be up here if ya need me.”
“Mmmmokay…I’m goin’, I’m goin’.” You mumble as he lifts you from his lap. He watches you make your way to the bedroom. Once you’ve closed the door, he picks up his comm off the control console and gets in touch with Kraglin to make sure all is in order back on the Eclector. Kraglin assures him that everything is fine, and the crew is content with their time off to just play games and drink as they please. Some have even taken to doing some odds and ends jobs to improve their cabins or M-Ships.
Before he knows it, he spots a little blue dot. The Warbird is closing in on your planet. He waits a few more hours before he decides to wake you. The closer the ship comes to Terra, he decides to engage the signal jammers so Terran communication systems and satellites can’t pick up any signals or sounds coming from the Warbird.
A while longer passes, and he heads back to the bedroom to wake you. There’s already a pretty good view of Earth out the front window, and he can’t wait to surprise you. You wake at the feeling of a large hand tapping you on the shoulder. You sit up and try to let your eyes adjust to the dimply lit room. Yondu has a very mischievous grin on his face.
“What’s going on? What are you up to?” You ask.
“Come here, there’s somethin’ you gotta see. But first, you gotta close yer eyes.” He insists.
“Close my eyes?”
“Do ya trust me?”
“Of course, I do!” You say with a smile.
“Well then c’mon! But keep yer eyes shut.”
You close your eyes and giggle lightly as you take his hand. Slowly, he guides you to the front of the ship where you can feel him position you in a specific spot.
“What are you up to, Yondu?”
“You’ll see, you’ll see. Okay…open.”
You open your eyes, and a gasp escapes your mouth before you have time to stifle it with your hand. Tears are immediately filling your eyes, and you can’t keep a few from falling. You shutter a little, and your breath is completely taken away. There it is. The oceans, the clouds, the beautiful green continents. Earth. After all this time, there it is. You can’t believe what you’re seeing, the beauty of your planet is stunning.
“Welcome back sweetheart.” Yondu says as he quietly presses a soft kiss to your temple.
Manon prepares to spend Christmas alone. Little does she know Elide has other plans...
Tumblr media
«Are you sure you’re fine with being alone on Christmas?»
Manon couldn’t help but sigh, hoping that Asterin wouldn’t hear it through the phone. She appreciated her cousin’s worrying, but calling four times a day to check in was a bit excessive.
«Yes, Asterin.» She twisted in her office chair, opening her laptop. «It’s not as if we ever did anything special for Christmas anyway.» Manon glanced at the clock, then at the amount of unopened emails. It would be a while before she was done for the day, but she didn’t mind. No one was waiting for her.
Elide had left this morning to spend the holiday with her family, and without the presence of her cheery girlfriend, Manon didn’t really see the point of celebrating Christmas. She had received an invitation to join Asterin, but she had a family of her own now. Manon would only feel like an intruder the whole night.
As if she’d read Manon’s mind, Asterin said from the other end of the line, «Not doing much for Christmas isn’t the same as being alone.»
«I know that, but-»
Before she find a way finish that sentence, Asterin interrupted her again. «Can’t Elide-»
«Elide has already left to celebrate with her family, as she should.» Manon tried to ignore the sound of defeat in her voice as she yet again was reminded of how empty their apartment would be. Maybe that was why she’d decided to work overtime on Christmas Eve.
Saying goodbye to her girlfriend earlier today had been torture, and all Manon had wanted was to pull Elide into a tight embrace and spend all of Christmas cozied up in bed, just the two of them.
She didn’t though. Instead she put on a brave smile and held back her tears as her favorite person walked out the door.
Rolling her eyes at her own dramatics, Manon said to Asterin, «Christmas is overrated anyway. And I mean it when I say I don’t mind being alone.»
Liar. Dirty, filthy liar.
«Okay,» Asterin sighed at last, obviously spotting the lie, but playing along nonetheless. «You’re probably happy to finally have some peace and quiet.»
«Damn right I am,» Manon smiled, her heart once again filling up with love for her cousin. Before Elide, Asterin had been the only person Manon had. The two cousins had been raised by the same cruel grandmother, and it had made them inseparable, always looking after one another.
«I’ll leave you to it then. I need to take a long nap before I can do anything else. Willow kept us up all night.» Asterin yawned, and Manon chuckled slightly at the sound of her tired cousin. Being the mother of a one-year-old wasn’t easy. Especially not when that one-year-old was also the daughter of Fenrys Moonbeam.
Speaking of the devil… «You still talking to The Grinch?»
Manon tipped her head back and laughed as Fenrys’ voice filled her ear. The nickname was one he’d lovingly began to call her after she’d voiced her aversion for the bright and merry season.
«Hello to you too, Fenrys.»
«Wait a moment,» Asterin suddenly said. «I’m turning on the FaceTime camera.»
Manon could hear some shuffling coming from the phone she’d pulled away from her ear, and then the small family filled her screen. She smiled warmly at the sight of a very tired Willow, who looked like she’d just been woken up from a nap of her own by the way her soft curls stood in every direction and how she clung to her father.
«Hey Willow,» Manon cooed, and the little girl’s face lit up at the sight of her auntie.
She babbled some nonsense, and Asterin handed her the phone, which she immediately put in her mouth.
«No!» Asterin was quick to steal the phone back, but the glare Willow gave her had Manon laughing again.
«Alright, it looks like someone is hungry, so I’ll hang up now.» Manon waved at her niece. «Bye, Willow!»
«Can you say bye to auntie Manon?» Even after a year, she still filled with pride whenever anyone called her that, and as Willow waved enthusiastically, Manon forgot all sadness from earlier.
Pressing a kiss to his wife’s cheek, Fenrys took Willow and left the frame. «Let’s go and feed The Kraken!»
«Fenrys!» Asterin called after him, but she was grinning.
«Merry Christmas, Asterin,» Manon said softly, ready to turn her attention back to her work.
«Merry Christmas, Manon. I love you.»
«I love you too,» she replied, and hung up.
Manon debated calling Elide as well, while she was at it, but it was getting dark outside, so she decided it was best to just finish for the day and go home to suffer through Christmas alone.
-
Three hours later, Manon was finally finished with her workload. There was only one last thing to do…
Groaning as she got up from her desk, Manon made her way towards the office of the only other person grumpy and joyless enough to spend the holiday at work.
If Manon was the Grinch, Lorcan Salvaterre had to be something far, far worse.
She knocked on his door, and he responded with an annoyed «What do you want.»
Stepping into his office, Manon scowled at the sight of her least favorite person in the world. She really didn’t have the patience to deal with this today.
«I’m done for the day, so I just wanted to check if you got the files I sent you,» Manon stated, examining her nails with a bored look on her face.
Lorcan’s signature frown entered his face as he checked his email, then looked back too Manon. «Yeah, so you can leave now. I wanna work in peace.»
«Too bad I came here to chit-chat then, since you’re like, my favorite person in the whoooole world,» Manon deadpanned, turning on her heel so she didn’t have to stay a minute more in his miserable presence.
Manon and Lorcan saw each other an awful lot for basically being archenemies. It wasn’t enough that they worked together. No, two years back, Elide had been taking her to a party so she could finally meet her friends, and none other than Lorcan fucking Salvaterre had greeted them, his smile quickly shifting to a scowl as Manon had muttered a not-so-quiet you’ve got to be kidding me.
Thinking about the memory, she stopped in the doorway, her longing from earlier having returned at full force. A small smile played on her lips as she looked over her shoulder. «Have a shitty Christmas, Salvaterre.»
Lorcan let out a small chuckle. «You too, Blackbeak.»
-
Sitting on the train, Manon suddenly began to regret not decorating the apartment. It felt wrong to know that she was on her way to an empty apartment, as ordinary-looking as always, when she was surrounded by so many people dressed in finery, on their way to see friends and family, twinkling lights passing in a blur.
A wave of sadness rushed through her. She would have given anything to have Elide by her side right now, holding her hand, talking about her day, smiling, laughing, just being there.
Actual tears burned behind her eyes then, and Manon silently cursed Christmas for making her so emotional. She never cried! And now she was being all sappy because she’d been away from her girlfriend for a grand total of ten hours. What was wrong with her?
Her phone chimed in her purse, interrupting her sad music video moment, and when Manon saw who had texted her, she had to fight even harder to hold back the tears.
Elide<3: You on your way home yet?<3
Manon: On the train now
She thought for a second, before sending another message.
Manon: Thinking of you<3
Elide<3: Thinking of you too, can’t wait to see you again<3<3
Had her younger self seen this, she would have snorted at the sappy words and heart emojis, but there was no denying it, no one could resist the charm of Elide Lochan.
Looking up once more, Manon saw that it had started to snow, the world already covered by a white blanket.
Next year she would accept Asterin’s invitation, Manon promised herself.
-
Standing before her door, Manon spent longer than necessary fumbling for her keys. Maybe some part of her didn’t want to enter the empty apartment, she was mature enough to admit that.
Because whether she wanted to acknowledge it or not, it was Christmas, and she was sad because Elide wasn’t there, and her home wasn’t decorated and her dinner was a miserable plate of yesterday’s leftovers and her only plan was to watch a movie, alone.
Manon let out a sigh as she let her head hit the door, needing a moment to gather herself. «it’s your own fault for trying to be so fucking independent and untouchable the whole time,» she whispered.
She gave herself one more second to brood, then she twisted the key and eased the door open.
A few steps into the hallway, Manon stopped short, a confused look on her face. She’d turned off the lights this morning, hadn’t she? And was that…?
It was music, the soft tones of some Christmas song, coming from the kitchen.
Looking around, there were even a few decorations put up, a mistletoe hanging over the entrance to the living room.
«Hello?» Manon called, not letting herself really think about who this had to be. Not letting that kind of hope come to life.
Heart pounding in her chest, she stepped into the living room, and could do nothing but gasp in awe as she took in her surroundings. A Christmas tree stood in the corner, the room lit up by its softly glowing lights, and everywhere there were little trinkets and other decorations. On the mantel of the fireplace was a picture of her and Elide that hadn’t been there before. It was from last week, Manon recognized, when they’d been at the Christmas market, and on the frame were the words: Make the yuletide gay. A bubbling laugh escaped her, and she couldn’t hold the tears back this time.
A voice sounded from the kitchen, and Manon turned around, only to be met by a pair of shining eyes and a bright smile.
«Merry Christmas, my love.»
Spencer Reid x F!Reader
Warnings: Fluff, Angst, Smut, No happy ending, Oral sex(Male receiving) vaginal penetration, unprotected sex. graphic crimes.
***Flashbacks are in italics***
Sirens are roaring in the distance, red stained clothing, blood pools into the grass below. Morgan is kneeling over Y/N trying to apply pressure to the wounds gushing blood. “Just hold on, Y/N help is on the way. Hold on.” Morgan says to an unresponsive Y/N. He looks up to see the ambulance approaching, “OVER HERE!! WE HAVE A FEDERAL AGENT DOWN AND NEED MEDICAL.” Morgan yells to the medics approaching. He looks down to Y/N her eyes start to close, “NO NO! COME ON NOW. KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN. YOU’VE GOT TO STAY AWAKE!.” He shouts. The medics rush over to get her on the gurney and into the ambulance. Morgan climbs in the back with them as they speed off to the hospital.
Four month earlier: Spencer and Y/N were spending the night separately in their own apartments. Y/N is repacking her go bag enjoying a glass of wine as she dances through her apartment listening to music she knows Spencer doesn’t like when the phone rings. She looks at the caller smiling before answering, “Hello my beautiful buzzy honeybee.” She says into the phone. She is met with a deep sigh, “Why do you call me that?” “Honeybee’s are essential to life and you are essential to mine.” She giggles out. Spencer is happy she wasn’t there to see him blush, he had luckily gotten it under control after the first few weeks of dating. “So you finally take some time to yourself and you what? Want to spend your night on the phone with me?” She asks. “I was reading The Magical Mathematics of Quantum Physics but I kept thinking about you.” He replied. “You know I think about you too when we’re not together but we decided that a night apart would be a good break. You are still welcome to come over if you like. I would come to you but I’m on my second glass of wine.” She says waiting for his response. “No it’s ok I just wanted to hear your voice, I’ll um I’ll see you in the morning right?” “Bright and early, sunshine.” She sings out. “Goodnight my love.” He laughs out before hanging up. The next morning just like she said she picks up Spencer and they head to work. The young couple walks into the office hand in hand, which they have been doing since the team found out about them dating. The team doesn’t have a current case and very little paperwork to get done so they are hanging around the office mostly chit chatting. Spencer, even though he doesn’t need more coffee is on his third cup of the day. Y/N is sitting on his desk talking with JJ and Prentiss when Spencer comes over with his coffee. After he takes a sip and sets it down Y/N picks up the mug taking a quick sip before scrunching her face at the taste, “My god how do you drink that? I think I can feel a cavity forming as we speak.” She chirped. Spencer picks up the cup and takes another sip, “Taste fine to me.” He grins. “Um are you not going to say anything about the amount of germs that spread from you two sharing a drink?” JJ asks. They look at each other before sharing a quick kiss, “I don’t see why that would be a problem with her.” Spencer says smugly.
Now at the hospital Morgan is pacing back and forth arms and torso covered in Y/N’s blood. The rest of the team has rushed in taking in the scene before them. “What happened? Is Y/N alright?” Spencer is the first person to say anything. “She is in surgery right now and they haven’t told me anything.” Morgan responds. “Morgan what happened at the park you two were supposed to be surveying the dump site?” Hotch asks. “We were, um we got to the park and she was saying there was something strange about the dump site and the unsub that something was off that it didn’t feel right.” Morgan starts thinking back to the earlier events, “ We headed down the ditch where the body was left and Y/N said the staging seemed off. She said she couldn’t figure out exactly what it was but it wasn’t making sense. When we walked back up we were discussing the case. I didn’t even hear the shots the next thing I knew she was on the ground and I was trying to stop the bleeding. I’m sorry Reid.” He tells them. The comment directs the team’s attention to Reid; he jaw is clenched tightly teeth grinding, eyes red and filled with tears refusing to fall. “We are of no use to her here, we need to find the unsub.” Spencer sniffled.
The team was on the jet flying home from a successful case, Y/N and Spencer had been in a heated argument since the case was solved. “I don’t want to watch Doctor Who. I understand that you and Garcia are fans of it but that doesn’t mean I have to watch it.” Y/N whines while yawning lightly. “It’s a great show, you should at least give it a chance.” Spencer responds. They were sitting side by side with her head on his shoulder still arguing. “Just one episode I promise you’ll love it.” He bargains. “No because I will keep watching it because I love you and have an issue telling you no since you’re so cute.” She says deep yawn coming out afterward. Spencer smiles at how adorable she is. “It will be fun Garcia can join and she’ll make it more fun.” “Uh uh and don’t you dare tell her she never gives up she…..” Y/N trails off falling completely asleep on his shoulder. He wraps an arm around her shoulder pulling her in closer to him and gently kissing the top of her head. “Oh you two are grossly in love. Get a room.” Prentiss jokingly gags out at them.
The team is back at Quantico since the original case they were working on was local. “So are we looking for a different unsub or are these two incidents related.” Rossi asks. “If they are related and had something to do with the BAU why would the unsub only choose to shoot Y/N, I was right there they had a clear shot.” Morgan questioned. “Ok if you’re up for it we need to do a cognitive interview and see what Y/N was trying to tell you.” Hotch says. “The case started that morning and we were brought in and briefed. This was the third dumped body found just outside of a park in the DC area. You split us up into teams, me and Y/N were sent to check out the dump site.” Morgan starts by saying. “Okay, so what happened next, I need all the details, even the ones unrelated to the case?” Hotch asks. “On the drive up I was giving her a hard time. You know, asking about how things were going between her and Reid, they are practically attached at the hip these days. “So what’s going on with you two? Getting ready to head down the aisle soon?” Morgan laughed out. “Shush it, we are not there yet don’t try to pressure us into anything.” Y/N retorts. “I’m just saying I’ve seen how he looks at you since day one. I wouldn’t be surprised.” “Oh and how is that?” Y/N asks. “Like you are the answer to life itself. I mean seriously what’s the wait?” “What’s the wait? Are you ready to get married?” Y/N argues. It didn’t seem like much at the time we all know she isn’t very forthcoming with personal information but now I don’t know. When we first got to the park she looked around and said something was wrong. “What was wrong?” Hotch asks. “These are all very remote parks off of hiking trails and in wooded areas, but the bodies were all found relatively fast within a few hours of them dying.” Y/N said as they walked down into the ditch. “I mean look at this it was definitely just a disposal site there is nothing suggesting the victims were killed here.” Y/N adds. “No tire tracks so our unsub has to be physically fit enough to carry a dead body into this ditch.” Morgan said. “So it’s possible our unsub was the person who called in saying he found the body. This is not a well trafficked area and it would be slim chances that the bodies would have been found so quickly.” Y/N said as Morgan helped her out of the ditch. Standing and surveying the surrounding area Morgan turns to look at Y/N and sees as the first shot hits her in the chest, the second in the shoulder and the final shot hits her in the head. Blood sprays as she falls to the ground. It happened so fast I didn’t even hear the gunshot.” Morgan finished explaining tears spouting from his eyes. “This isn’t your fault Morgan, you couldn’t have possibly known what was going to happen.” Hotch says. “I was standing right there and did nothing. If she doesn’t make it. Reid, he’ll never forgive me.” Morgan muttered. “Y/N is a fighter and so long as there is hope we can’t give up.” Hotch says. Spencer had looked through the case file so many times looking for more information hoping to find something, anything really. He was trying to keep it together, to keep his mind off of Y/N for now, if he focused on her, he would be of no use to the team and they needed to find out who did this.
The team did not have a current case, something they were all thankful for. They had back to back cases for weeks, lucky if they got a few hours to go home before almost immediately being called back in, but today they were catching up on all of the paperwork they had put off over the weeks. The day had been relaxing, as relaxing as paperwork could be but no one was complaining. Y/N had disappeared for a while claiming that she was looking for something related in the archives and Spencer decided to go look for her. Spencer walks in to see Y/N pulling file after file out of the cabinets grumbling to herself. “Hey, I thought you came to get one file what are you doing?” Spencer asks. “Ugh, none of these are in the right place! What is the point of filing them if you’re going to do it wrong?! So now I’m fixing it!” Y/N yelled. Spencer walks up behind her, rubbing her shoulders and moving down to rub down her arms and taking the file out of her hand, tossing it onto the cabinet in front of them. “It’s going to be ok, sweetie.” He says soothingly, wrapping his arms around her waist and placing a kiss on her neck. “Mmm, don’t start that.” She huffs out. “Start what?” He asks, placing more kisses on her neck, “I’m just trying to help you relax.” “Relax huh, if that is what you want then you need to get your lips off of my neck.” She whines. “If you say so.” is all Spencer says before turning her around to face him and pulling her into a kiss. It’s feverish and messy, teeth clacking and panting as he bites down on her lower lip. “We have to stop… anyone can walk in.” She moans out. Spencer attaches his lips to the junction on her neck biting down and sucking hard making her whine and moan loudly. She is tugging on his shirt when he abruptly moves away. With a smirk on his face, “We should get back to work before someone comes looking for us.” Y/N rolls her eyes grabbing the file she originally came in to get. “Hey wait.” She says to Spencer pulling him back towards her. He looks at her questioningly waiting to see what she is going to say next. “That was not very nice of you, honeybee.” She says while pulling him back towards her, she reaches up to caress his cheek before bringing her hands back down and readjusting his tie. “I’ll get you back for that later, you’ll never see it coming.” They leave the archive room walking back into the bullpen when Morgan pokes at Y/N’s neck stating, “Hmm, did you two have fun in there? You didn’t have that when you left.”
The team had received little information on Y/N’s condition from the hospital; so far what they had heard was that the bullets in her chest and shoulder had been successfully removed and they were still working on the one in her head. “So there is information on the bullets that Y/N was shot with.” Rossi says, pausing to look at Reid before continuing, “The bullets used were .338 Lapua Magnum and they had her first and middle name engraved in the bullet.” Rossi finished. “A sniper?” Spencer asks. “Those rounds are common among military snipers,”Morgan adds. “There is more to it, there is something you all don’t know about Y/N.” Hotch tells the team, “Something like what?” Prentiss asks. “Before Y/N came to the BAU she worked with the DoD (Department of Defense).” Hotch says, “Yea we know, when she first started Garcia looked into her.” JJ says. “We know that but even you don’t have access to what’s inside those DoD files. What you hear here right now does not leave this room. Y/N worked specifically for the NSA. Her work with the NSA included the creation of specific programs that can be used to spy on citizens. Alongside that she also for a short period of time was a sniper with the NSA. There are no specifics on her work, none of us have clearance for that and she is not permitted to speak on any of this.” Hotch finished saying. The team is silent, still taking in the information. “So you’re telling us this for a reason?” Morgan asks “When Y/N was working as a sniper she had a very specific way of taking down a target. She used .338 Lapua Magnum bullets and she hit every target in their joints to insure survival so they can be interviewed later on. So this looks personal. I think that the unsub had encountered her beforehand and killed those other people to get us to come out until he could get a shot in and in this case it worked.” Hotch explained. “But if this has to do with her work at the NSA what can we do? They aren’t going to give us any information.” Prentiss asks, “We just have to work with the bit of information that we do have.”
Spencer and Y/N were on a hill of a local park. Spencer had set up a night time picnic for them. They laid on the blanket looking up towards the sky, they had binoculars as they looked at the night sky. “So of course we have Ursa Minor by far the easiest constellation to find.” Y/N says looking up at the night sky. “And there is Regulus leading into Leo” She said next. “Stargazing was a good idea. You look so beautiful in the moonlight.” Spencer says, smiling at her. She puts down the binoculars to look over to him reaching out and running a hand through his hair. “This was a nice change of pace. We are practically inside all of the time nowadays.” She says The moment is nice it is as if time stills. They scooch in close to one another kissing as they lay on the blanket. The moment is sweet but ends quickly when a bug lands near Y/N causing her to jump and screech fleeing from the bug. Spencer wants nothing more than to come to her rescue but her reaction is so endearing and he just lays there and laughs. She picks up a pillow to wack him with, “It’s not funny Spence!” She yells. He stands up to hug her, “I know I’m sorry. We can pack up and go home.” They drive back to Spencer’s apartment to retire for the night. After showering they climb into bed. “Are you wearing my shirt?” Spencer asks even though it is obvious. “Yes, it smells like you. If you want it back by all means.” She says with a wink. Grabbing the back of her thigh and pulling her legs to wrap them around his waist. “You’re so beautiful you know that.” He says. Y/N wraps her arms around his neck, “I love you.” she whispers. “I love you too.” Spencer whispers back before taking her lips into his kissing her passionately. His hands run under the shirt and her back gently caressing her sides. Y/N tightens her legs around Spencer flipping them so that she was now straddling his hips. She leans down sucking on his neck leaving a bruise in her wake. She raked her hands down his chest reaching the hem of his shirt and pulled back taking the shirt to pull off of his body. Y/N kisses all over his chest, light gentle kisses trailing down to his happy trail. “So are you up for something more?” She says between kisses. He looks down making eye contact groaning at the sultry look in her eyes and nods. She taps his thigh signalling him to raise his hips so she can pull off his pajama pants along with his boxers. Laying herself between his thighs she kisses the tip of his semi-hard cock making his breath hitch. Wrapping her lips around the head and sucking gently until he becomes fully erect. She continues to tease him pulling off of him before licking down the underside of his cock and coming back up tongue swirling around the tip of his cock. “Stop teasing. Y/N” Spencer moans out gripping her hair in his hands.
She wrapped her lips around the tip again, tongue swirling and she bobbed down engulfing him inch by inch. She moaned the vibrations sending shivers down his spine. Heat took over her body arousal soaking the thin cotton panties she wore. She swallowed the last few inches before she felt tightness in her throat causing her to gag. “Can’t take it?” He challenges laughing. She squeezed her thumb before surging forward taking all of him in hallowing her cheeks and sucking hard receiving a strangled noise and he bucks his hips up into her mouth. She pulls up sucking the entire way before pulling off with a pop. Spencer’s chest is heaving as he pants. Y/N had slid off her panties but kept his shirt on when she climbed back onto the bed. Spencer who has caught his breath is now sitting up back against the headboard licking his lips at the sight before him. Y/N gets to the head of the bed and straddles his lap once again scooting close to him but not touching. “Tell me honeybee what is it that you want?” she says as she runs her hands through his hair brushing it back. He grabs at the hem of the shirt she is wearing pulling it up off of her. Reaching out to take a nipple between two fingers pinching and rolling the nub eliciting a moan from her, “I want you to ride me, kitten.” She surges forward to kiss him and when she does he lifts her hips up bringing her closer to his cock rubbing between her slick folds. She lowers herself down on him, a muffled groan into his mouth. She raises herself up before lower back down again setting a steady pace. Spencer pulls on Y/N’s hair exposing her neck to him and he latched on suckling leaving a bruise. She reached between them rubbing circles on her clit. It wasn’t long before she quickened the pace and tilted her head back in ecstasy panting roughly with each thrust. She can feel her orgasm rapidly advancing. “I’m close” She whispers in Spencer’s ear putting an arm around his neck desk pulling them chest to chest. Spencer begins thrusting upwards meeting Y/N’s thrusts feeling his orgasm close approaching. He digs his fingers into her hips lost in pleasure. He can feel her walls squirming around him and with a few more thrust he leans in for an open mouth kiss as she cries out her orgasm ripping through her body. Her body trembles and shudders sending Spencer over the edge as he releases his cum into her eager hole. Deep inhales and exhales are heard as they come down from their collective high foreheads touching. Y/N pulls off Spencer laying down on her side facing him. He reaches over gently pushing her wet bangs out of her eyes. He looks into her eyes, always bright but he can see the glazed over dew before they flutter shut and she drifts peacefully to sleep. Spencer awakes the next morning bright sunlight shining through the windows. He looks down to see Y/N asleep on his chest, her hair is a mess but to him she is gorgeous. He kisses the top of her head, “Good morning love.” He says voice horse. She turns and her eyes open before immediately shutting back closed wincing at the sunlight. “Shush, go back to sleep.” She says groggily.
The team has not been able to find any new information on the unsub. There was no evidence left at the park crime scene suggesting that anyone had ever been there. They even tried to talk with NSA but if they had any information at all they weren’t offering any assistance. Hitting wall after wall Hotch sent Garcia and Reid back to the hospital to wait and hear about Y/N. Hours later a woman in scrubs came out to speak with them. Her face was red and her eyes looked as if she was trying not to cry. “Dr. Reid, Agent Garcia. I’m Dr. Y/L/N I’m Y/N’s mother.” They knew her mother was a surgeon at this hospital but none of them thought she would be the one performing the surgery. “We got the last bullet out and intracranial pressure is coming down. But she is still unresponsive.” She explains. “So what does that mean? Is she okay?” Garcia asked. “The bullet tore through her frontal lobe. As of right now we don’t know what is going to happen. It could be a day, it could be a week. There was a lot of damage at this point and she is lucky to be alive.” She sobs out. This information is the dam that breaks Reid, tears uncontrollably flowing from his eyes as Garcia hugs him in an attempt to comfort him. Days had passed and the case ran cold, no new leads, nothing to connect the unsub. Spencer spent every chance he could visiting Y/N at the hospital. She hadn’t shown any signs of waking soon, but Spencer spent his time with her talking and reading hoping that it brought her comfort. A week later while the team was dejectedly filing the paperwork from the case they were working when Y/N got shot since there were no new leads they were told they had to move on and take a new case until new evidence presented itself. Reid is sitting at his desk, he would only talk if someone started a conversation with him. Garcia had been trying to keep his spirits up bringing him colorful figurines from her office and placing them around his desk. He is sitting at his desk staring off into nothingness when he hears the phone ring. “Dr. Spencer Reid” he grumbled into the phone. There was a nurse on the other side of the phone informing him that Y/N is awake. He jumps from his seat rushing out of the door telling no one where he is going. Arriving at the hospital he dashes down the halls towards Y/N’s room and when he opens the door and sees her sitting up, eyes open he runs over and throws his arms around her. “I’m so glad you’re awake.” He whispers. It wasn’t until he pulls back and makes eye contact that he realizes something is wrong. She smiles at him but it’s not the smile he knows, “Um hi.” She says, sounding confused. He doesn’t get a chance to ask her anything before, “Do I know you?” and those four words break his heart.
“W-What?” You shuttered out. “There’s no way. She looks so young and flirtatious with you.” You pointed out as Wonwoo lets out a chuckle, making you even more messed up.
“She looks young. She’s actually almost 20 years older than me.” Wonwoo explained as you took a step back, shocked. “How about we go back to the restaurant and I’ll explain everything properly?” He takes a step forward as you stuck your hand out, feeling your face flush in embarrassment.
“Wait... Let me just... process this thoroughly” you whispered as you tried adding the pieces up of what he just explained. Wonwoo crossed his arms looks at you with a small smirk on his face, looking amused at your state.
“Wonwoo baby you’re back already? You’ve never shown that much love before.” his aunt brought out the dishes, smiling lovingly at him before glancing at you.
“I told her everything already so you can cut it with your act.” Wonwoo picked up his cutlery and started eating. You looked up at her as she pouted.
“Aww, why’d you always have to take away the fun?” She whined as she took a seat beside Wonwoo. You slowly started eating, staring down at your food to avoid any eye contact but you could see her resting her elbow on the table, her chin on top of her palm, observing you.
“Since you ruined all the fun, I guess i should properly introduce myself. I’m Wonwoo’s aunt, Seri.” You looked up at her, nodding as you smiled awkwardly, not knowing how to act in this situation.
“Nice to meet you Miss Seri-”
“That makes me sound old! Just call me “Seri unnie!” She brightly smiled at you. Somehow, you drawn to her bright personality.
“But you are old, Seri.” Wonwoo state matter-of-factly as she nudged his shoulder, glaring at him. “I already told her your age-”
“YAH! But I look a lot much younger than my age don’t I?” She leans in towards you, making you almost choke on your food.
“When I first met you, I thought you were around the same age as us.” You confessed as she lets out a satisfied chuckled.
“And I bet that when you first met me, you also thought that I was his girlfriend as well. Am I not wrong?” She raised an eyebrow with a smirk, as Wonwoo stops eating. You met his eyes for a second before looking away, letting out a weak chuckle.
“I think you got it wrong.” You tried to remain as confident with your words. Seri looks at you with a smug look before giving you a wink, as you looked down on your plate, feeling your cheeks redden.
Once the you were finished with your food, Seri started chit chatting with you as Wonwoo quietly scrolls through his phone, join in the conversations here and there.
“You know what’s weird is that Wonwoo told me that I was his ideal type.” She  spoke. “Even though I’m his aunt, it definitely feels weird hearing it from him. Maybe he’s into older woman?”
“I can totally see it.” You thoughtlessly spoke while taking a bite of out the melon she brought out. Wonwoo and Seri froze as they looks at you before you realized you spoke out loud.
“You can totally see it?” Wonwoo questioned, taking his eyes off his phone for once.
“Uh... I recall hearing it in one of your interviews... I think? Haha, must be a mistake.” You nervously laughed trying to cover it up.
“What a stalker.:
“It’s not my problem it was the first thing I saw when I turn on the TV” You lied
“It’s not my problem Seventeen is popular. Or in this case, I’m popular.”
“You? Popular? My ass.”
“You should see how many DMs I get. I can’t help but to be that breathtaking.”
“Yeah wait until I tell them that your ideal type is your aunt, let’s see how that goes about.”
“Alright alright alright. And hey, I’ll say that I’m a pretty hot aunt.” She cuts between the two of you bickering. “How interesting. I’ve never seen Wonwoo fuss with someone this much. Or even talk this much. Especially towards a female.” You crossed your arms, sitting back on the chair as you looked away, feeling annoyed.
“I don’t understand why either. It’s not like he’s winning or anything.” You mumbled.
“...Don’t tell me you guys are acting like kids, fussing around when you secretly have a crush on each other.” She narrowed her eyes, moving her head to you then Wonwoo.
“I’m going to use the washroom.” Wonwoo stands up and left without another word, leaving you and Seri alone.
“This is my chance.” Seri smiled and rushed over to you, telling you scoot over to the next seat.
“Yes?” You asked with confusion.
“Wonwoo and I hold a very special relationship. I know he doesn’t have a lot to say but trust me, when he’s around someone he’s comfortable with, he can surely speak a lot. Now, I’ve been seeing him grow up as a baby and he has never brought over a girl, or even mention a girl. Until you.”
“Until me?”
“Wonwoo mentioned your name. He’s been acting quite weird lately. He came to be the other day, expressing how he’s feeling some pain in his chest and that his mind can’t stop wandering. Next thing you know, he just blurted out your name. I tried asking why but he was just so confusion in his feelings.” Seri explained.
“That’s weird... I’ve been going through something similar as well.” You thought out loud, deeply trying to figure out why when you heard Seri let out a chuckle.
“Then it all makes sense.” You tilted your head, brows furrowed in confusion. “The both of you are in love with each other.”
“What? No. I don’t see how any of this makes sense.” You scoffed at her nonsense.
“It does. You or Wonwoo just won’t admit it. Your heart is telling you to accept it but you keep on rejecting it. Which is why you’re messed up in your feelings.” You looked at her, trying to not believe in her words. “Y/N, I’m not saying this because I’m his aunt. I know Wonwoo comes off a little cold but he is honestly the sweetest person ever. He’s a little emotionless, especially around females only because he doesn’t know how to act and that he’s nervous. But if he cares for someone, he becomes really attached to that person and slowly loosens up. And I think Wonwoo is feeling a little something towards you. Even if it doesn’t look like it.”
“I don’t think so. There’s no way.” you rejected, not allowing your thoughts to consider it.
“That’s just you saying that. Maybe if you give a chance and listen to your heart, you’ll feel something else. Both of you have fragile hearts and I know both of you are a little puzzled and scared.” You heard the inner doors of the washroom opening, signalling that Wonwoo is coming out. “But at the end of the day, both need each other.” She patted your head.
“What are you two taking about?” Wonwoo approached the table as Seri stood up, smiling. You couldn’t help but to stare at Wonwoo after what she said.
“Nothing. She was just sharing some secrets on how I can still even more youthful.” Seri patted her face, letting out a giggle.
“What, Is there something on my face?” Wonwoo touched his face, snapping you back to reality.
“N-No.” You looked away, gazing over at Seri who was behind soft smiling.
“Well, as much as I want to keep you guys here. I’m sure the both of you are tried with the awards show coming up.” She clasped her hands together as you took this as a signal for you to leave. She walked the two of you out the door nagging at Wonwoo to take care of himself.
“Bye, Seri. Thanks for the meal again.” Wonwoo waved and started walking with you behind. You quickly turned around, mouthing a ‘thank you’ for the chat from earlier. She nodded her head, understanding what you meant as she gave you two fists as a ‘good luck.’ Though you haven’t come to a conclusion to your feelings, you definitely found something new about Wonwoo. As you walked behind Wonwoo, you observed his broad built shoulders, his tall height and his... eyes?
“Why are you looking at me like that. If there’s something in my face just tell me.” He was facing you. Your eyes widen, as you didn’t even realize when he turned aorund.
“There’s nothing in your face. It’s perfectly fine.”
“I know it’s perfectly fine. I am perfect after al-”
"Okay okay, I get it. You win. I’m too tired to even finishing hearing your useless statements.” You flapped your hand while letting out a small yawn.
“So you’re full of energy before you eat but all tried after a meal? That’s a bit odd.” He spoke as you rubbed your eyes.
“What do you mean?”
“Back at the park. You were going on and on blabbering about your assumptions of my aunt, cutting me off, not listening to what I have to-”
“I don’t know what do to me back there. Sorry.” You quickly spoke, confused at yourself on why you acted that way as well as you mumbled the apology.
“Right. Why were you acting that way? Does Y/N.... Have something to say to me?” Wonwoo suddenly leaned down towards you face. Your eyes widen from his sudden movements as you stepped back, almost falling. “I’m just joking.”
“Taking advantage of me because of my exhausted state, huh?” You nervously laughed while your felt your heat beating extremely fast. He hummed as the two of you quietly walked back, beside by beside, speaking in short conversations here and there.
“Thanks. You didn’t have to walk me home.” You thanked him as you approached your dormitory.
“It’s not like I have much of a choice. I live a few houses down anyways so I kind of have to pass your house to get home.” He rolled his eyes you gave him a glare.
“I was only trying to be nice, for a change.” You mumbled
“I know. But it takes more than that for me to consider that as nice.” He teased
“Fine, I’ll wait for you to walk to your dorm then. Since you always wait for me to head in first.” You crossed your arms, almost challenging him. He eyes gazed over your head before looking down on you with his blank expression. “What? You don’t have to feel like a princess for once?”
“No. But I don’t think your members will let either of us live if we wait for one of us to leave.” He gives a small wave as you turned your heel and noticed all your members crowded on the living room window that looks out to the front of the building. You could already hear their voices of their conversations in your head. You let out a sigh as you turned back to face him as he lightly shrugs his shoulder.
“Right....”
“But I mean, I don’t mind feel like a princ-”
“Forget it, bye.” You turned and started walking as you heard him chuckle, followed by his light footsteps. You had a sudden urge to turn and look back but you pushed the feeling away and unlocked the door, hearing your members run down the stairs like animals.
Belladonna was sitting in her Mothers room. She had been there since she awoke she looked over to her Mother who seemed to be scanning a document while writing something down. She missed the privacy of her own room but understood their fears and concern. Valkyrie was on the bed with her as she pet over her. She had gotten a little stronger in the last couple of days but not enough to feel safe.
She sat there thinking, Amara and Ameiral came to eat and see her as her aunts and uncle. The only problem was she was growing restless and on top of that bored her Mother went everywhere with her even the bath but she could understand that since she had a problem moving still. She had fallen stiff in her joints and she was slower. Gideon said it would take a few weeks to get back up but she didn’t want that she wanted to move now.
Since she had awoken her Mama seemed to be in meetings from the time she awoke till almost time to sleep she knew she was stressed they both were. Her thoughts had started to creep back in. She wanted to speak but was afraid to break her mothers concentration. “Mother?” She asked softly looking at her. Her Mother put the document down “Yes darling?” She asked “I’m sorry about everything" She said looking down “This is all my fault" She said softer.
Xenia was shocked she quickly got up and went over to her sitting down and taking her hand. “No this is not your fault it never was. You are a target you have nothing to be sorry for my sweet girl" She said. Belladonna frowned “Everyone is stressed and overworked” She said “Mama, Aunt Ruelle, Amara, Ameiral and you" She said. “My sweet girl overworked yes but only because we want to see you safe" She said softly rubbing her back. “I know you hate staying with us, I know you enjoy your privacy. I also know you are bored but your body is still healing" She said.
Belladonna nodded “Do you think we can go to the garden today I would like some fresh air" She said softly. “Of course darling I think it would do you good" She said smiling. Belladonna bit her lip “Are you upset that I turned down your old title?” She asked in a soft tone. Her mother shook her head “I was actually relieved in hearing it. I have done things I am not proud of. I’ve hurt people close to me to keep up a façade once and I never want you to ever do that" She said. She nodded “I understand" She said closing her eyes “Can we visit the garden after dinner with Mama, I miss her" She said. “Oh course darling anything you want" She said. Belladonna pulled away yawning “Unfortunately, I think a nap is in store" She said.
Her Mother smiled and nodded “Sleep is good for a healing body" She said softly “Get some rest I will see if your Mama will eat lunch with us" She said as she stood. Belladonna laid down and it didn’t take long for her to succumb to sleep. Her mother covered her up and she heard a familiar pattern on the door. It opened and Ruelle came in. “My queen there has been a break through and also a loss" She said she looked over seeing Belladonna asleep. Xenia motioned her to come over to a corner where they could talk. Ruelle followed “What is the news first?” Xenia asked. “We were able to get some information out of them using one of your many talking agents. They come from the kingdom of serpents. Their was a priest or wise woman that had a prophecy it included the Wolf of Autumn and the location of our Princess. They did not go into details other then a mention of a sacrifice.” She said softly. Xenia frowned she didn’t like any of that, it meant this was no random attack but a planned one. “And the loss?” She asked concerned even more. Ruelle frowned “Our captive burst into a blue flame, nothing is left but ash" She said.
Xenia frowned that was not news she wanted to hear. “I see but at least we have a kingdom to search and look for" She said that was good. “How is she doing?” Ruelle asked looking over to the sleeping Belladonna. Xenia frowned “She’s growing restless and bored, though stronger every day. How are the talks going in the council?” She asked, normally Xenia would be there but with these circumstances she was not. “So far our idea has everyone on agreement to get her out of here but where is what everyone is fussing over" She said. Xenia nodded “I understand that" She said. “She is worried about everyone other then herself.” She said softly. Ruelle smiled “She has a heart of gold" She replied “I will go back to the council and urge them to recess for the day everyone is stressed” Xenia nodded “Belladonna wants some family time so I believe that would be in our best option" She spoke Ruelle bowed and left. Xenia went over sitting on the bed gently. “My sweet girl" She said softly. She started to remember when she was young how carefree she was always wanting to be by their sides doing what they were doing.
Xenia was extremely worried now a kidnapping she could handle but a sacrifice that chilled her. She watched as Belladonnas chest rose and fell. She had no idea how much danger she was in and yet for once in sixteen years Xenia was unsure if she could keep her safe. That fear paralyzed her the thought of losing her the frown was evident on her face. Would she wear a mourning veil once again would she ever take it off this time. “Get a hold of your self" She whispered to herself. Belladonna shifted from the whisper and Valkyrie looked up yawning she went over to Xenia to comfort her. “Please keep her safe in my absence young one" She said. The door opened and she was ready to pull out a blade when she noticed her wife. She shut the door and walked over. She knew that look the news she had received from Ruelle. She sat on the bed putting a hand on her daughters sleeping face.
“ I have always came to you for personal council but now I am unsure what we can do" She spoke softly. “I can tell you are just as worried possibly even frozen with anxiety of the future “ She spoke. Xenia nodded resting a hand on her wife’s back “I’ve always played a deadly game but this is one I wish I could opt out of" She spoke softly. River turned to her and buried her head into her chest as the tears flowed freely. Xenia rubbed her back “We will think of something darling” She said softly. “What if it’s not enough I cant….I don’t want to lose her" She cried harder. Xenia held her tight “We wont” She said “I will not allow it" She whispered. She held her wife for a long time it seemed time had frozen and she wish it could. River pulled back “How is she?” She spoke softly drying her tears.
“She is growing bored and quite restless. Then again she’s been a handful ever since she could walk. Always on the go but she is growing stronger which is a blessing" She replied softly. Belladonna started to wake up she could hear voices whispering she started to rub the sleep from her eyes and rose up. As she did Valkyrie started to lick her face and she laughed “Good nap for you to girl?” She asked petting the pup. She looked over and was surprised she seen a medium size table in the room with her mothers', aunts, Amara and Ameiral “Did I miss a memo?” She asked as she got up and started to stretch. “We all wanted to have lunch with you" Ruelle said “Also we have come to a solution, come sit and eat with us as we explain" She said smiling. Belladonna nodded as she came over sitting in between Amara and Ameiral. “We are opening trade back into the city, people can come and go as they please.” She explained. Belladonna nodded “That’s wonderful but I feel there is a catch to this all" She replied studying their faces. Amara looked over “You will be in a trading cart going away for a while some where safe" She said. Belladonna bit her lip “Just where is safe exactly?” She inquired. “My home town no one really visits it except traders and on top of that it’s in the middle of no where no one would think to look for you there" Ameiral said. Belladonna was quiet as she started to nibble. “Mother, Mama will you be safe?” She asked her Mama was shocked “Of course we will be your our main concern. You wouldn’t be going alone either Ameiral and Amara will be accompanying you” She said softly.
Belladonna nodded as she ate more “When do we leave?” She asked softly. “In a few days” Ruelle said. She nodded “Alright if you all believe this is the best course of action I will go with it" She said. She was sad in a way but understood they were thinking about her and her safety. As they ate there was small chit chat, Belladonna kept drinking the strange blue liquid Gideon had made and it seemed every bite and sip she took she was starting to feel like her old self again. After lunch Amara and Ameiral stayed in the room as her Mothers’ went to make the final preparations. She sat on the bed cuddled into both of them she had missed human contact “So are you two ready for our adventure?” She asked softly. Amara smiled “I am, a change of scenery is always nice and healthy" She said. Belladonna nodded “So what’s it like there?” She asked “Its medium sized, a lot of mines lots of farm land as well. Beautiful mountains, lakes and waterfalls.” Ameiral said. “It sounds beautiful" She said softly. As she laid with them “So where are we staying?” She asked curious. Amara was curious as well. “I have a small house there that I was renting out not like anyone grabbed it up but there.” Ameiral said. “This sounds fun" Belladonna replied and then sighed “Do you think anyone will know who I am?” She asked. Ameiral shook her head “We know of the royal family but that’s it, I mean we’ve heard stories of Amara but yeah. If anyone recognizes you I will be amazed" She said. Belladonna smiled “Then Alpha has a fresh start" She smiled. Amara laughed “True but your armor is not coming with us" She said. Belladonna whipped her head around “What! Why?” She asked. “Your still weak I fear if you wear it you will get worse or sickly" She said. Belladonna sighed “Anything else I should know?” She asked. Ameiral smiled “Well you wont be able to wear those nice suits either trust me you would stick out like a sore thumb" She said. “Well I’m not wearing a dress either" Belladonna said.
Ameiral laughed “I never expected you to dear" She replied as she kissed Belladonna on the lips. She smiled kissing her back “So did you guys volunteer or were you promised something to go with me?” She asked. Amara kissed her shoulder blade “We volunteered plus there was no way I was leaving you.” She said. Belladonna smiled she felt tired again “Please stay while I sleep?” She asked softly as her eyes started to close. As she slept both Woman held her close as if she would float away if they didn’t keep her there. Ameiral ended up falling asleep as well. Amara laid there smiling watching the two.
She heard the door open seeing the Queens return. “How is preparations?” She asked softly. “Finished when the shipment comes in, in two days you will all be set you and Ameiral will act as guards. Belladonna will be in the cargo chamber with what few things of hers.” Xenia said. “I promise I won’t allow anything to happen to her. I promise to protect her with my life" She said in a serious tone. “Amara we don’t blame you for the attack for her getting hurt” River said. “I feel like I failed, I’ve done it once before and this time with the one I cherish and love. It will not happen" She said. River thought “Will you stay for a bit longer I want to go to the winter temple with Xenia for a little bit" She said. “I will gladly stay you two need to relax together I will stay here till you two return” She said smiling
Belladonna opened her eyes a few hours later she seen Ameiral asleep and felt Amara drawing patterns in her back she smiled “Amara?” She asked “Yes darling” She said softly “Did you nap?” She asked softly. She chuckled “No but I relaxed so it was good" She said softly. She nodded “Where are my mothers'?” She asked. “Winter temple to relax in the bath house” She said softly. She nodded. Ameiral moved a little and opened her eyes she blushed “I didn’t mean to fall asleep.” She said softly Belladonna smiled “You needed your rest nothing wrong with that" She said smiling.
Belladonna rose up and started to stretch she got up and got a drink she took a sip of the blue liquid and smiled she felt good. She heard the door open and seen her Mothers' they smiled “Feeling better?” She asked them. They smiled looking at her “Much better" They replied “Are you still wanting to go to the garden?” Her Mother asked. She nodded “I would like to have some fresh air" She said smiling. “Amara, Ameiral would you like to join us?” Her Mama asked. “I would love to my Queens" Amara said. Ameiral nodded “As would I" She said softly.
As they all made their way to the garden Belladonna smiled. Once out she smiled the fresh air made her smile more she missed going out. Valkyrie and Leoa were running and playing around. She went over to her usual seat and sat down enjoying the sun on her skin. She smiled she had no idea her Mothers’ were briefing Amara and Ameiral on final arrangements she just sat there enjoying herself. That was till she heard Valkyrie and Leoa growling and hissing. She opened her eyes going to where they were she seen a very odd looking snake one she had never seen. She thought this was curious as she leaned down to look at it the snake tried to bite her Valkyrie jumped at it. Biting it and started to shake her head beating it on the ground. Belladonna was pulled back by Amara and held so tight she didn’t think she could breathe. Xenia was over in an instant and grabbed it she had something in her hand and jabbed it the snake went limp. “We aren’t even safe in the garden" She growled “Amara, Ameiral follow me” She said. Belladonna was taken back to the room and she sat there with her Mama and Valkyrie. She sighed what little air she had gotten had been nice. She sat on the bed and started to write her thoughts she was frustrated. “Mama, why am I being targeted. What do they want with me why am I so special?” She asked looking at her from her journal
River looked up “I'm not sure my darling” She said lying she knew the reason so did those who needed to know. She would never tell her daughter though never. Belladonna nodded as she looked back down as she wrote. She missed her freedom and she hated that. Did the enemy want money? Supplies? What why her. She sat there thinking she wanted to know more about the snake What had her Mother done to it. She sat there watching Valkyrie she seemed to be on edge and that worried her the door opened and her Mother returned both Ameiral and Amara were in their armor she frowned. “I’m sorry Belladonna but I believe you need to leave tonight" She said.
She nodded “I understand" She said as she rose from the bed and hugged her “Stay safe my sweet girl" She said. Belladonna turned and hugged her Mama as they left. Xenia led them through a secret passage and to a place that Belladonna had never seen she seen a carriage just a regular one nothing fancy. Amara and Ameiral got in and she hesitated for a moment. Before picking Valkyrie up getting in as the door closed and they were off. Belladonna watched her Mothers’ get further and further away till they disappeared. It was quiet and she looked down at the floor “So our adventure has begun" She spoke softly.
“How are you feeling?” Amara asked Belladonna shrugged “Wishing my mothers were here honestly. I’m just glad I was able to have lunch with everyone I guess" She said. “Don’t worry we'll be back before you know it" She said. Belladonna nodded she truly hoped so. It was a quiet ride and she was growing sleepy. “ We will be at a inn soon we’ll get food and drink and beds there" Amara said. She nodded “Ameiral will it still be a two weeks journey with carriage?” She asked. “No just about a week and a half I would think. When we get there I’ll show you one of my favorite trails I like to take to the lake" She said. Belladonna smiled that cheered her up. As they sat there Belladonna pet Valkyrie who was sleeping by her side
Luckily the trip only lasted a week it could have been shorter but everyone needed breaks to walk around. When they arrived at the house Ameiral smiled as they all got their luggage and she showed them in “Its not much but its home" She said as she went in and went to the bedroom it was nice and large with a giant bed the three could easily fit them. “You two relax I’m going to go to the market and get food for us for the next week" She said. Belladonna looked up “I want to go" She said. Ameiral chuckled “Tomorrow I’ll give you both a proper tour. Rest it will be good if you want you can look around the house" She said. Belladonna sighed but nodded “Alright” She replied as she kissed her. Ameiral kissed her back and kissed Amara on the cheek as she left. Belladonna went exploring the house the kitchen held a small table that was perfect for the three and the bath was medium sized she wanted to go outside but waited for Amara as they went; she found a forge near the barn and that made her smile. The barn housed their horses that had been brought along who were resting eating oats and drinking water.
Belladonna yawned she was still sleeping she hated that. She was still not at full health either. They returned to the house where she laid down Valkyrie next to her and she fell asleep. Amara watched over Belladonna she had to protect her Ameiral and her had decided they would protect her with their lives and she would not know the full truth. She started to unpack their things to give her mind something to do. She worried for Belladonna since they had not had time to make the potion even though Gideon had wrote everything down it would take time to make and Amara was not good with things like that.
When she finished she laid down. Belladonna snuggled into her and held her close. She closed her eyes to rest them Ameiral had promised them a small adventure when they got here but it was getting late and she didn’t know if Belladonna could go in a small hike her health was slowly getting better but she knew even little things wore her out still. She heard a wagon and horse she got up going to the door looking out she smiled seeing Ameiral back. She watched as Ameiral unhooked the horse and took them to the barn. Valkyrie was next to her and she whined Amara looked down “What's wrong dear?” She asked. Valkyrie pulled at her pants to come back in she followed and she was led to the bedroom. Belladonna was up looking around she seemed frightened.
“Dear?” She asked, Belladonna turned looking at her “Your okay" She said “Is Ameiral back?” She asked. “Yes she just returned what’s wrong you looked frightened" She said. Belladonna wrapped her arms around herself “I had a nightmare" She said softly. Amara came over wrapping her arms around her “Its alright my little wolf everything is alright we are safe" She said rubbing her back. She nuzzled into her “My mothers they were dead, so was Ameiral and you.” She said as she nuzzled into her “It was so real" She said. “Everyone is fine dear, how about we go help bring supplies in" She said. Belladonna nodded “That sounds good" She said as she followed her to the door. Ameiral was bringing things in and they went outside to get the rest.
After everything was in they started to help put things away with Ameirals help and guidance . Soon the three of them were cooking. A knock came to the door and Ameiral went to see who it was. She opened the door to see a tall man with grey in his black hair and gold eyes “Dad?” She asked. “ I heard from going to town you were back I had to come see my baby girl" He said hugging her.
She hugged him back as she let him in “Who are these two?” He asked “My traveling companions" She said “Master Alpha of the Autumn and Amara of the summer" She said. He smiled “Nice to meet you both I am Ameirals father they call me Stone" He said. Amara and Belladonna shook his hand “So what brings you back dear the city life too much?” He asked.
“I’m only back force couple of weeks Master Alpha and Amara wanted some time to relax a bit before the winter so I offered them to come here for a few weeks" She said smiling. “ That’s great we never get visitors” He said smiling. Valkyrie didn’t leave Belladonna side Amara noticed she felt Valkyrie was trying to tell them something. “You three should come to dinner at the house sometime your mother misses you terribly" He said. Ameiral nodded “We will" She said. He smiled “I’m going to go home and tell your mother your home" He said. He hugged her again before leaving.
Belladonna sat there she felt drained and had no idea why. Amara noticed “ Ameiral do you have a place I can grind up those ingredients?” She asked. Ameiral nodded “Yes, follow me" She said as she took her to a small room. Amara thanked her and she went to get the bag that Gideon had made. Ameiral looked at Belladonna “So you met father I guess next mother and maybe my older brothers" she said. “ Your father was charming I cant wait to meet the rest of the family" She smiled.
“Thank you" She said as she and Belladonna continued to cook Belladonna smiled she liked this. Most of the time the cooks shooed her away when she wanted to make food. She adored this honestly she knew Amara was worried but she was fine. “I seen you had a forge maybe I can help you with your smiting I’m not a master but I do a good job" She said. She smiled “If you like but when your stronger" She said. Belladonna sighed “ What If I don’t get any stronger?” She asked “Its been two weeks" She said.
Ameiral shook her head “Your getting stronger everyday just be patient." She said. Belladonna nodded “Mother always told me I was always getting into something when I learned to walk” She said. “That’s a rather adorable image" Ameiral said smiling. Ameirals imagination went wild as she imagined a little Belladonna. Soon the two were plating up the food and sitting it down. Amara came from the room smiling “Try this” She said handing the blue concoction to her. Belladonna sniffed it before sipping it. “It’s just like Gideon but extra berry tasting its amazing" She said. Amara smiled “I added a bit more berries then Gideon did he said just a few but I know you like berries so I added a bit more" She replied smiling.
Belladonna smiled “Can we do something tonight?” She asked them. Ameiral smiled “I was hoping you would ask that, there is a hill not to far from here that is perfect for star gazing" She said. Belladonna smiled and so did Amara “That sounds fun would you like to do that Alpha?” Ameiral asked. She nodded “Yes I love looking at the stars" She said. Ameiral smiled “Then that’s what we will do" She said smiling. As they all sat eating Valkyrie and Leoa were eating together they seemed to be taking turns out of the same bowl. Belladonna smiled as she ate it was good food and all three of them had made it. She couldn’t wait to see the stars either she wondered what it would be like out in the country.
When they finished they all cleaned up. Ameiral went and got cloaks just in case it got to cold. The three of them left the house going up the hill finding a perfect place to sit. Belladonna had the cloak on looking up smiling. Amara and Ameiral stealing quick glances at her smiling. “Have you always liked stars?” Ameiral asked. “Yes me earliest memories are of my Mothers taking me out to look at them. When I was a little older I would sneak out and watch them. I don’t know how many times I fell asleep watching them but I always woke up in my bed somehow" She said softly she laid back on the ground watching.
Valkyrie started to howl and Belladonna smiled “You like the night to don’t you girl" She said smiling Valkyrie ran over getting on her chest and laying there she laughed as she pet her looking at the stars smiling. They stayed like that for a while and Belladonna fell asleep. Amara and Ameiral looked over “Amara I’m scared” She said watching her sleep “I’m scared we'll lose her” She said softly “I cant imagine a life without her, it really wouldn’t be a life. She has taught me so much in these past few weeks" She said. “We wont lose her I wont allow it. We'll keep her safe and protected were the royal guard it’s our duty" She said. “Plus she’s not defenseless she can handle herself.” She said softly.
Valkyrie got off as Amara picked her up letting her head rest on her shoulder as they walked back. She seemed to smile. As they walked back into the house Amara took her to the bed and gently undressed her putting her in her robe as she and Ameiral started to undress. They dressed and Amara put Valkyrie on the bed she laid at Belladonnas feet. As Amara and Ameiral got in they cuddled up to her and fell asleep.
Belladonna woke up in the morning with arms around her. The last thing she remembered was looking at the stars. She smiled as she looked down at Ameiral who was asleep and she felt Amara stirring from behind her. She felt Valkyrie walking up her legs sitting on her legs. She smiled she wondered what they would do today she had an idea and she wiggled out of the twos hold; she dressed silently and went down the stairs she then entered the kitchen looking at what they had. Eggs and meat sounded good for breakfast so she decided to start making that. She was cooking away with Valkyrie and Leoa watching what scraps of fat she cut off the meat she gave them.
Amara opened her eyes as she finally woke she seen the space between her and Ameiral empty she then seen Belladonnas robe hanging up. She wondered where she was and she nudged Ameiral awake she opened her eyes “Where’s is she?” Ameiral asked. “I’m not sure I just awoke" She said. Both got up and dressed and went down stairs there they found her cooking and they let out silent relieved breaths. She looked back seeing them. She smiled “Good morning you two come sit I almost have breakfast finished" She said both nodded going over sitting down Amara noticed she was sipping the drink which was good. Soon she had everything plated up and brought the three plates over she sat a plate down in front of everyone before she fed Leoa and Valkyrie then sat down.
“You didn’t have to make breakfast you should have waited for us” Ameiral said. She smiled “I wanted to surprise both of you" She said softly. “Well a surprise it was, next time please wake one of us we were worried” Amara said. She nodded “I’m sorry" She said as she started to eat. They ate in silence enjoying the food. “Since we slept in we’ll clean up" Ameiral said smiling and you make a mean breakfast" She said laughing. Belladonna laughed “Thank Amara, when I was younger my mothers' let me spend the night with her and in the morning she let me help her" She said. Amara smiled “You always loved helping me in the kitchen when you were younger" She said softly looking back on the memory. Belladonna smiled “While you two clean up do you think I can sit outside I really enjoy the sun" She said. They nodded “Of course just stay by the door" Amara said
Belladonna nodded “I will" She said softly as she finished up the last of her food. She picked up the plate and put it in the sink she then poured another cup of the potion and went outside sitting next to the door with it and Valkyrie. She sat there sipping it thinking hopefully they could go into town. She sat there as Valkyrie sat on her lap she smiled. She felt better with the sun on her skin and then wondered if she could eavesdrop on Amara and Ameiral talking. She closed her eyes focusing she heard nothing. She sighed as she decided to enjoy the sun.
It had been a while out in the sun she had finished the drink and was growing a bit sleepy she felt Valkyrie get up and she rose up as she picked the glass up going inside. She seen them both sitting at the table. She smiled as she sat with them getting a half of a glass of the potion. “Do you want to go into town?” Ameiral asked. Belladonna smiled “I would love to can we Amara?” She asked looking at her. Amara smiled “I don’t see why not" She said smiling. She was excited all the drowsiness gone from her “I thought we could have lunch at the tavern as well I think you’ll like it" Ameiral said. Belladonna nodded as she sipped the drink.
They loaded up in the wagon Leoa and Valkyrie in the back with Belladonna. She sat there watching the scenery she liked the country the life of the city was always fast paced. as they got closer she smiled seeing the town insight. Once they stopped at a building Belladonna jumped out of the back followed by Leoa and Valkyrie. She stretched and followed Amara and Ameiral inside a shop. Belladonna looked around it held different things from weapons to jewelry. “My baby girl" She heard a woman say. She looked up seeing a woman come from behind a work bench she had pink hair like Ameiral and the pointy ears. Her eyes were gold as well. She watched her bring Ameiral into a tight hug that made her smile. “Hey mom it’s like you haven’t seen me in years it’s only been a month in a half" She said hugging her in return.
“It feels like forever, your father said you were in tell me about your friends" She said as she looked at Amara and Belladonna. “Mom give me a second this is Amara of the summer, this is Master Alpha of the Autumn" She said. Her mother was shocked “You mean Amara of the summer the captain of the royal guard. And Master Alpha the wolf of the Autumn “ She asked she seemed visibly excited “Yes mother captain Amara and Master Alpha of Autumn" She said Belladonna didn’t know what to expect next other then she felt herself being pulled into a hug “The guards told us of your fight Master Alpha they say you were impressive" She said. “Thank you but you have to thank Amara I’ve been training with her since I could hold a stick" She said laughing.
“How have you been mom since I’ve been gone?” Ameiral asked. She sighed “Swamped with commissions, the local guard was able to pull money together to get new armor and weapons and I just cant get everything done” She said with a sigh. Belladonna looked up “If you have a forge I can do it. I have training in it. I’m not a master but close enough" She said. “Oh Alpha thank you but I don’t know if I could pay you" She said frowning. “No payment is needed as a Master and knight it is my duty to help those in need of help” She said. “Well… If your are sure getting that out of the way would be a great help" She said. She smiled “It would be an honor to help you" She said. She smiled “Thank you" She said. Ameiral smiled “I’ll help as well" She said. Amara nodded “And I" She said. “Oh girls you make an old woman want to cry" She said hugging them again. Valkyrie was chewing on something and Belladonna leaned down getting it, it was a small piece of snowflake obsidian Valkyrie whined and took it back swallowing it. Belladonna freaked out and then watched as she started to grow blue she started to grow a little. She looked to be a few months older maybe more. “Darling didn’t you know when a wolf like hers is ready to grow they eat the gem” Ameiral mother said “No, I didn’t that’s amazing" She said. “ what is their name their so cute I've seen them far away but never up close" She said. “Her name is Valkyrie “ She replied smiling. Valkyrie ran over licking her face she was happy which made her happy. “Tonight you girls come to dinner I’ll make it like a holiday meal" She said smiling. Ameiral nodded “Alright mom I’m going to continue showing them around we'll be here bright and early in the morning" She said. Her mother hugged them all again before they left.
Ameiral showed them around all the shops and market place she smiled as they went to the tavern for lunch. They sat there laughing as they ate and drank. “Alpha are you sure about helping my mother your still healing” Ameiral said. Amara looked at her concerned as well “I’ll be fine plus it will be good I can teach you more about blacksmithing.” She said. Ameiral nodded “Promise you’ll take breaks" She said. She nodded “I will, promise" She replied. After they ate they were on their way back. Belladonna was exhausted she had so much fun plus they had an excellent lunch. She laid back with Leoa and Valkyrie she smiled as she relaxed she was excited about tomorrow as well. Finally she was able to do something that was physical. The sun made her sleepy as she closed her eyes. Once back she hopped out going to the door Ameiral unlocked its they went in. Amara smiled “I don’t know about you two but I could use a nap" She said yawning. Belladonna nodded “I second that" She replied yawning.
Ameiral smiled “Let’s take a nap" She said. They went up the stairs to the bedroom Belladonna got in the middle. Amara at her back and Ameiral at her front as they put there arms around her. She closed her eyes “That was fun but I cant wait for tomorrow to be able to do something" She said. “Just rest now dear" Amara said as she nuzzled into her back and Ameiral under her chin. Belladonna fell asleep first then Ameiral Amara was starting to doze when she felt Belladonna shake she opened her eyes. She watched her for a moment Belladonna was indeed shaking. She knew from when she was young she was having a nightmare. She rubbed soothing circles in her back and started to whisper in her ear that everything was fine and they were both there.
Belladonna started to calm down and she kept it up till she was still again before drifting off to sleep. When Belladonna opened her eyes she was alone in the bed other the Valkyrie she rubbed the sleep front her eyes and seen Ameiral at the mirror putting something away. “Hey" She said softly, Ameiral turned smiling “Did I wake you if so I’m sorry" She said. Belladonna shook her head “ Nope woke on my own" She said smiling.
She rose up and started to stretch “Where is Amara?” She asked. “Making more of the potion for you she wants to get a few jugs fixed for tomorrow and when we help mom" She said smiling. Belladonna smiled as she got up “I cant wait to help" She said. She walked over and smiled “How are you feeling?” Ameiral asked Belladonna smiled “Much better after a nap" She replied as she wrapped her arms around Ameiral “How was your nap?” She asked. Ameiral smiled “Just what I needed as well" She said smiling. Belladonna nodded as she stood straight again “So how far is your family estate?” She asked “Not very far actually I think you'll like it" She replied.
And the strange thing, your life could end up changing while you're dancing
"I don't understand why I have to go to this ball, Tony. If Bucky's there and he sees me he might start…" You start to ramble to Tony, trying to find any way out of this Avenger gala. Saying that your last encounter with Bucky was awkward, would be an understatement. But despite all of your reasonings of why you shouldn't go to the gala tonight, Tony wasn't having any of it.
"Nope! You're a part of this team and you're going to be at this gala with all of us. As for the rejected Manchurian candidate, don't worry about him. I see that he is giving you any grief, any at all, I will personally through him out of MY building." Tony reminds you of your position in the team. And you sigh, knowing that there is no way that you're getting out of going. Not when Tony Stark has already decided that you are going. He leaves you alone to get ready. You go to your closet, in search of the perfect gown. You have no idea what is acceptable clothing for a gala. Let alone a Stark gala. So, slowly but surely, you start to whittle down your options.
"Fuck off Steve! I already told you I'M NOT GOING!" Bucky yells from underneath his comforter and blankets. Bucky has no desire to go to this stupid gala that Stark is hosting. Especially now that there is a chance he'll run into you. The last person he wants to see tonight is the person that fucked with his brain and caused him years of pain.
"Well, I'm not leaving until you get changed for the gala. You can't just lock yourself up in your room now that Y/N is part of the team," Steve says while sitting down into a chair next to Bucky's bed.
"Don't say her name! Not like that, with such normality! Not after what she did to me!" Bucky yells at Steve, bolting up from his blanket nest.
"I get that she hurt you, Buck. I really do. But maybe for the benefit of the team AND yourself, you should talk to her. Burry the hatchet, in so to speak. You can still feel hurt and mad at her, but at least be civil with one another. Now, get dressed. We can't keep Stark waiting all night long," Steve half-orders Bucky, while putting a friendly hand on his shoulder.
"She wasn't civil when she tortured me," Bucky mutters while searching for his tuxedo that he keeps in his closet, for occasions like this.
Tumblr media
You fiddle with your dress collar in front of the mirror, trying to waste as much time as possible. You really didn't want to go to this.
"Stupid Tony, making me socialize with people," you say out loud while walking towards your door. Just go down, drink a few glasses of champagne, then head back to your room. That's your plan, and you were going to stick to it, even if it killed you.
"Y/N! You made it! Tony was going to send me to find you," Wanda calls out to you as she grabs your arm. "We're going to have fun tonight. You always work and never play. That changes tonight!" Wanda squeals, while giving you a glass full of champagne and taking you further into the dance floor.
After a few more glasses of champagne, you were finally starting to relax. You make your way through the crowd, dancing with some of the guests the team is trying to impress. You dance with some of your fellow teammates, but for the most part, you stay with Wanda, partying throughout the night. You've never had a sister growing up, so, naturally, you always wanted one. And finding Wanda was like finding your long lost sister. Its while you are dancing with here, with her twirling you around, your dress wishing through the air, that you spot Bucky. Staring you down like prey, Bucky's stare reminds you of your place, or at least what you think your place is.
"Wanda, I've really had a lot of fun, but I think I'm going to go back to my room. I'm kinda done for the night," you tell Wanda, wanting to just run away to your room and crawl under your sheets.
"What! You can't go Y/N. The party's not over!" Wanda begs for you to stay. But you can't stay. Not with Bucky hear. The emotions and memories he brings back to you are just too hard for you to process.
"You stay here and keep on partying. I'm just not feeling too good," You lie to her, making your way to your room.
Tumblr media
"Are you just going to stand there and stare at her for the whole night?" Steve asks Bucky, who's leaning against the wall, away from as many people as possible.
"I'm not staring at her," Bucky lies, flatly. Truth be told, he's been staring at you since you came down. What first started as stares of hatred and loathing, soon turned into stares of admiration. He notices how pretty your smile is, how it can light up the whole room. Or how heartwarming your laugh is. Except he can't admire these traits for too long. He can't allow himself to feel these things towards you. Not after what you did to him. No, the only feeling Bucky will allow himself to feel towards you is hatred.
"You should go and talk with her. It'll do you good," Steve nudges Bucky towards your direction.
"You're not going to let this go until I talk to her, aren't ya?" Bucky asks Steve, groaning with the idea that he has to face his past head-on.
"You know it, pal," Steve confirms to Bucky while patting his shoulder and leaving to find Nat.
"Ugh," Bucky groans. "Tonight is going to be a long night." He says as he walks towards you.
Tumblr media
You're almost out of the ballroom when a hand grabs your wrist.
"We need to talk," a far too familiar voice growls to you. "Someplace private."
"Okay, lead the way," was all that you managed to squeak out. Bucky pulls you away from the hustle and bustle of the party and sits in one of the empty chairs in the common area.
"We're alone now. What do you want to talk about?" You ask Bucky, confused as to why the man that almost killed you a few days earlier is now sitting down with you to chit-chat.
"Why did you do it?" Bucky asks, his voice barely above a whisper, and looking down at the ground.
"Do what?" You ask, wondering what he is referring to.
"Why did you torture me, Y/N?"
That caught you off guard. It was the first time Bucky called you by your name. You sigh, knowing that this is going to be a long and hard conversation to have with him. But it was one that was needed.
"You don't know who I am, do you? The first thing I want to make clear is that I did not join HYDRA willingly. I'm Dr. Y/N L/N. I got my MD from Stanford and then later went on to get a P.H.d in neuroscience. About 5 years ago I started to do some research about the human subconscious and being able to control it, to cure different types of mental disorders. I had great results from the test rats and was ready to start a clinical trial on some humans when HYDRA got to me. I was walking home from work one night when a black van pulled up. A group of HYDRA's men grabbed me and threw me into the back of their van. That was the last time I was seen for 4 years."
"I-I didn't know that, Y/N." Bucky looks up at you, with tears starting to form in his eyes. He felt a pang of guilt, for being so mad at you for doing HYDRA's work when you were forced to do it.
"It's okay that you didn't know. No one really did. That's why I was missing for 4 years." You tell him, not wanting him to feel guilty about anything. He was not at fault here. If it was anyone, you felt that you were to blame.
"So what did they make you do then?" Bucky asks, clearly wanting to know exactly what you did to him.
"They put my knowledge to work. They had me working in the Winter Soldier program, making new Soldiers for them to use. But, I spent most of the time working on you. They would make me erase your memory, and when needed, fix the implanted code words. The thing that HYDRA doesn't know, and what you don't know either, is that I messed up the erasing process. Every time they would want me to erase your memory, I would erase enough of the short term memory so that they wouldn't be suspicious of anything. That's why you can remember some of your memories from before the war, and some of your more recent Winter Soldier memories. While HYDRA might have been using me as their tool, I never wanted to be like them. It hurt me every time they called me down to work on you, Bucky. I hated seeing you in pain. Pain that I caused."
This time, when Bucky looked up at you, tears were flowing down his face. "You really did that?" He whispers while looking you straight in the eyes.
"I did, Bucky. I'm sorry for any pain that I caused you. And I know I might be overstepping, but I hope that you will forgive me. That we can become friends, or at least just good co-workers one day. I understand if you can't do that, but I really hope we can get there." You tell him, this time you were the one with tears.
"I think I could do that," Bucky says, smiling at you, while he rubs at his red eyes.
"Now enough about HYDRA and all this sad talk. Tell me about you, Bucky. The real you." You invite Bucky to share what every he is willing to share with you.
"Where do I start," he chuckles as he starts explaining his life to you.
Tumblr media
Hours are spent with Bucky and his childhood stories. You've learned quite a lot about him and what he was like before the war, before HYDRA. He talks about what he is doing now, and how he is trying to readjust to the world of the living. You've enjoyed talking with Bucky more than the gala that was now wrapping up. You yawn in the middle of yet another story about how pre-serum Steve picked yet another fight when Bucky looks at his watch.
"Wow, it's getting late. Sorry for wasting hours of your time." Bucky says shyly.
"It's okay Bucky. I've enjoyed talking with you. Though, if it is all right with you, I should probably hit the hay before it gets even later." You respond to him as you get up from the floor, where the two of you have been sitting.
"No, of course. Let me walk you back to your room." Bucky offers.
"You don't have to do that. You've wasted enough of your time with me already." You tell him, not wanting to be a burden on Bucky.
"What kind of a gentleman would I be if I didn't walk a beautiful dame like yourself back home? My ma raised me better than that." Bucky tells you, his checks slowing starting to blush.
You give in, and let him walk you back to your room. You walked in comfortable silence, not needing to say much to each other after your marathon chat session. You get to your front door, where Bucky wishes you a good night.
"I appreciated this, Y/N. I really did have a good time with you, and I'd love to do it again soon," Bucky tells you, as he plants a quick peck on your check.
"Good night, Y/N." He says as he leaves you, a blushing and dumbfounded mess.
[29 May, 233 Before Age. Yetitan.]
Wampaaan'riix was tired. He had spent much of the day on the windswept pastures of his ancestral farm, clearing brush and counting livestock. For a man of his extraordinary strength, this was physically simple, but the tedium of it had a way of wearing him out. He had gone straight to bed upon returning home, barely making time to say good night to his wives and children.
When the communications terminal alerted him to a priority subspace call, he expected the worst. When he saw it was from Luffa's star-yacht, only for Dr. Topsas to appear on the viewer instead, he was even more concerned. He knew Luffa's Federation alliance was at war, with Saiyans battling on both sides.
"She is recovering in a stasis tank," Topsas explained. "I expect she will be completely healed in two months' time."
Wampaaan'riix stroked the long white hair that hung from his chin. There was long white hair covering the rest of his body as well, but the chin was the part he always reached for when he contemplated grim tidings. "In warfare, two months is an eternity, doctor" he said. "I'm surprised you were able to talk her into it."
"I suspect her injuries were more persuasive than anything I might have said," Topsas replied. "Individually, these enemy Saiyans are no match for her, but she has had to fight groups of them, on planet after planet, with little respite. I think she understood that if she didn't take this opportunity to heal, there might not be another chance later on."
"Is there something I can do to help?" Wampaaan'riix asked. "I've all but retired from fighting, but I owe her my life, after all."
"No, nothing like that," Topsas said. "I simply needed some... advice."
"Advice." he repeated.
"I spoke with one of my sons a few days ago. He wasn't very happy about my presence in Federation space during wartime," Topsas said. "He practically begged for me to come home. He arranged a transport ship to arrive at Woshad in four days."
"Then I think you should take it," Wampaaan'riix said. He first met Luffa and Topsas in a Deathmatch tournament on Plutark VII. He had been so certain of his fighting skills, and she had defeated him with ease, then she toyed with him to test her abilities. Then she accidentally read his mind, and after seeing his regret for walking out on his family, she decided to spare him. "I'm positive that she would understand if you left the war to go back to your loved ones."
"I don't know that I can do that," Topsas said.
"Doctor, you just told me that Luffa will be in a stasis chamber for the next several weeks," Wampaaan'riix said. "I've seen how those things work during my time in the Yetitan military. They're very low-maintenance. Now that you've set it up, you could probably show Zatte how to handle the day-to-day operations. And there's no shortage of doctors in the Federation who could take over for you."
"I'm not so sure..." Topsas said. "The statis chamber is one thing, of course. Plenty of others could handle it."
"Well, what else is there?" Wampaaan'riix asked. It was difficult for him to keep his patience. Bad enough that he had been woken from his sleep, that he was sitting at his desk instead of the warm rugs of his den. But Topsas was never very forthcoming about his feelings. Always masking everything with dry humor and sarcasm. He had never known the arachnoid to ask for help like this, and now he was beginning to understand why. It wasn't stubborn pride so much as the doctor just couldn't quite spit out what the problem was.
And when Topsas finally answered, he only said: "Mycotherapy."
Which told Wampaaan'riix absolutely nothing. "What?" he asked.
"There is a particular species of fungus," Topsas explained. "In the wild, it has the ability to alter its DNA to mimic plant or animal tissue. This allows it to graft itself onto a host while avoiding any immune response. Three years ago, a team of researchers found a way to modify the fungus for medical applications. Genetic engineering, you know. A few fungal cells are applied to the site of the injury, and cultivated to replicate. If managed properly, they'll form a structure to fill in the wounded tissue. Then the fungal mass can be made to transform itself into part of the patient's own body."
"That sounds unbelievable."
"It's a rather new form of medicine," Topsas said. "I only learned of it myself very recently, while I was researching possible treatments for Luffa. I... began casting about for more... radical ideas."
"Radical," Wampaaan'riix said. "As in 'dangerous'?
"The graft has to be carefully monitored. Left unchecked, it could grow out of control, and consume the patient. And it hasn't been tested on many species. Until... recently, there's been no testing on any mammalian species at all."
"If you don't know what it could do to Saiyan biology, then why risk it?"
"Because I do know how it will interact with Saiyan biology. I... performed my own tests, using tissue samples from Luffa herself. I only did it to set my mind at ease-- to prove that it would never work, so that I could stop second-guessing myself. But, the results turned out to be more promising than I expected. There's a very strong chance that I could heal her wounds in a fraction of the time it would take for conventional stasis chamber therapy to work."
"Why haven't you told her about this?"
"I only obtained the results a few days ago, right before she went into the chamber. Before that, it was only an experiment. Besides, there would still be an immense risk. I would need to apply multiple grafts to her body and monitor them all simultaneously. No one has ever attempted this before, on any species. No one would."
"Then why consider it at all?"
"Because when I look at the work that would be involved, I cannot help but think I might be able to carry it off. It's not a certainty, but I've carried out delicate operations that humanoid physicians wouldn't dare attempt. The researchers who devised mycotherapy techniques were all vertebrate doctors. Greater minds than I, but even so, I believe I have abilities they did not. And while I lack experience in this specific therapy, I dare say I know Saiyan physiology better than anyone. If it can be done at all, then I believe it must be I."
Wampaaan'riix stroked his chin again. "And if you try this, you definitely won't make the transport your son sent you. But that's not what's bothering you. Otherwise you would just take the transport and let Luffa heal for two months under someone else's care. That would be the best thing for everyone, right? So why are you even considering this fungus of yours?"
He didn't answer right away, and Wampaaan'riix wasn't terribly surprised. He hadn't called from so far away for idle chit-chat.
"I became a doctor because I wanted to help people," Topsas finally said. "In my religion, it is said that my people were blessed with eight eyes so we may always see when others are in need, and eight limbs so that we may always have one ready to lend aid. I was fascinated with vertebrate anatomy, and I thought becoming a doctor would enable me to see more, to help more. Do you remember when we met?"
"On Plutark. You were patching up the competitors in the Deathmatch tournaments. I never did understand how you ended up there."
The tournament organizers paid handsomely for my assistance," Topsas said. "And my practice needed the funding. Besides, I felt that if I could at least tend to your injuries, then I could know that the competitors received as much genuine care as possible before most of them met their end. Another doctor might not bother, since he would expect most of you to die by the end of the day anyway. But I could hold myself accountable at least."
"But Luffa changed all of that."
"She spared you, and in the process, she defied the tournament organizers, and ended up shutting down their entire operation, thereby saving the lives of the other fighters who still had matches that evening. To say nothing of the fighters who might have participated in future matches that will no longer occur. Before, I had written you and Luffa off as little more than brutes. Yet you returned to your homeworld, to your family. You've raised your son into a fine man, from what I can tell. I trust the rest of your offspring have been just as fortunate."
Wampaaan'riix was honored by the compliment, but he was also wearied by the late hour. "What are you getting at, doctor?" he asked with a loud yawn.
"For a time, I saw my work in those dreadful tournaments as an unpleasant chore. I was less a doctor and more of a priest, administering last rites for the condemned. Oh, one fortunate soul would live to see the next day, but I always knew that survivor would die in some other battle, thinking his victory made him invincible. But Luffa was special, and in discovering that, I realized that I had been remiss in my duties, both medical and spiritual. That was why I came to her aid on the Tikosi Hiveworld. It was the right thing to do, of course, but I wonder if any other doctor would have felt such an obligation. You owed her your life, Wampaaan'riix, but I owed her my soul.
"And now, it seems that she blames me for her overzealous crusade to defend the Federation. I comforted her in her hour of need, you see. I held her hand and calmed her down after the battle with the Tikosi, after she killed her own father. She reminded me so much of my daughter. Nwitt died of a terminal illness. In the final stages, it affected her brain, made her a danger to herself and others. In the end, she was so terrified, and all I could do was euthanize her. I couldn't hold my own daughter's hand in her final moments. She had to be restrained, you see. When Luffa first transformed, it seem as though she might explode at any moment. I thought that if this were to be the end, then comforting her in her final moments would be a fitting way to die. Instead, she lived, and she apparently has taken my gesture as an example of courage.
"I never considered the things my patients might do after they leave my care," he said. "Their lives are their own business, of course. I was content to help them with what I had. But there is a ripple effect to it, isn't there? The person I mend one day may help someone else another day. And another. Perhaps someone down the chain actually manages to save someone's life. It's a frightening thing to consider. And Luffa is no mere pebble tossed into a pond. With her power, she's more like a meteor crashing into the ocean. I cannot bring myself to think of hers as a single life. There are so many other lives that she has influenced and may still influence in the future. A week or two months might mean the difference between life and death for countless people. And I can choose. A week or two months. I can play it safe, or I can dare to perform a challenging procedure that might kill or cripple my patient."
"Cripple?"
"One of the potential side effects of mycotherapy," he explained. "Even if the fungal growth is kept under control, the drugs used to maintain that control can affect the patient's senses. Her sight or sense of smell might be permanently damaged."
Wampaaan'riix leaned back in his chair. "High stakes," he said. "Knowing Luffa, she would probably just as soon fight blind, and she might even win, powerful as she is. But her enemies would just injure her again, and worse than before."
"I trust you see my dilemma," Topsas said. "I asked Ms. Dotz for advice. The woman is a fortuneteller, but she has a psychic blindspot where Luffa's fate is concerned, and she seems to have no idea how many people will live or die as a result of my actions. It serves me right for trying to peek ahead a few pages in my own life. She told me that I would certainly do the right thing, but it isn't that simple. I... I don't know what the right thing is."
"And that's why you contacted me," Wampaaan'riix surmised.
"There was no one else to ask. I wanted an objective opinion from someone who knows her," Topsas said.
Wampaaan'riix sighed and considered the matter carefully. "Doctor," he finally asked, "what do you think Luffa would say to all of this?"
"I haven't discussed it with her yet," Topsas replied. "Knowing her, she would probably insist on taking this gamble. Which is precisely why I am so reluctant to suggest it. For me it's an ethical problem, but for her! As far as she's concerned, even a disabled Super Saiyan would be better than an injured one. All she cares about now is time. The young always worry about running out of something they have in abundance."
"No, that's not what I'm asking," Wampaaan'riix said. "Suppose Luffa were in your position. How do you think she would approach this dilemma?"
"I don't understand... you mean, if she were a doctor treating a patient?" he asked.
"Yes. What would she do?"
His fuzzy pedipalps twitched as he wrestled with this scenario. Wampaaan'riix never quite learned to read Topsas's alien body language, so he watched uncertainly as the doctor thought it over. He was mildly concerned that he might drift off to sleep while he waited for Topsas to respond.
"I suspect," Topsas finally said, "that she would find a way to push herself to her limits. The difficulty of the procedure would only be a challenge for her. She would rise to meet it, unless she were absolutely certain that it was beyond her ability."
"Very good," Wampaan'riix said. "Spoken like a true warrior. I think that is the way you should decide. If you truly believed this plan of yours is unsound, then you would have abandoned it a long time ago. Instead, you've slowly talked yourself into it, until now, you stand at the threshold, but you aren't sure you're ready to commit. You're asking the rest of us for permission to try, but this is your battlefield, doctor, and yours alone."
"I will... consider what you have said," Topsas said after a long pause. "Though, to be honest, this was not quite the advice I was hoping for."
"We have a saying on Yetitan," Wampaaan'riix said. "'Advice is what we ask for when we already know the answer, but wish we didn't.' I don't know Dotz, but she sounds like a wise woman. So I agree that you will do the right thing, whatever you ultimately decide. Good luck to you, doctor."
They exchanged a few pleasantries before terminating the connection, leaving Wampaan'riix sitting alone in the darkened room. He thought about returning to his den, but somehow he doubted he would get much sleep, knowing what he knew of Luffa's condition.
*******
[30 May, 233 Before Age. Pillimede Asteroid Belt.]
Topsas did not decide right away. He resolved instead to wait another twenty-four hours and see how Luffa was responding to conventional treatment. The results he obtained from the sensor scans was less than encouraging.
"This isn't working," he said as he read the results. Luffa could not hear him. She floated in a suspension of medicated statis fluid, kept in an induced state of unconsciousness. Nor was there anyone else in the sickbay of the Emerald Eye to hear him. He continued speaking anyway.
"Your injuries are responding to the treatment, but not nearly at the rate I had hoped for. My own fault for being overly optimistic. I expected you to produce another miracle. Somehow your Saiyan biology would repair itself even more quickly, and you would break out of this tank in a mere ten days.
"But no. The inflammation in your feet has barely changed. Your cracked ribs have only just begun to knit. What is wrong with you, Little mammal? Are you so determined to keep fighting that you defy medical attention, even when you're unconscious?"
He had originally projected her full recovery would take at least two months. Based on the data he now had, that estimate would have to be revised upward. Three months, maybe even four. The bio-regenerative gel was working. He had used it on her in the past, after all. But it wasn't fast enough. Something about her condition was slowing down the whole process.
"My apologies. It is a poor physician who blames his patient. And yet, I cannot fathom what is going on in those cells of yours. Is your body focusing itself on increasing your power? The 'zenkai' as your people call it. Am I seeing a physical manifestation of that right now? Ninth Eye, are you so starved for combat that your body would fight itself? Half of you is trying to use this treatment to repair itself, and the other half is working on making you stronger."
He had prided himself on his expertise in Saiyan biology, but that honor was mostly by default. He was the only doctor who had spent this much time on a Saiyan patient, but there was still much that he didn't understand about how their bodies worked. The light of the full moon could make Luffa grow into a gargantuan ape-creature... unless her tail happened to be injured or amputated. It sounded like pure fantasy, but it was well-documented fact. They were so unlike other vertebrates, and Luffa was unique, even among her own kind. She never spoke of it, at least not to him, but he often imagined that being the Super Saiyan made her very lonely.
"I pray that I am wrong," he said. "Perhaps your body simply doesn't have the necessary compatibility with the medication. It can't be that your power is resisting the healing effects. It would be dreadful to be so devoid of peace. I think you crave peace as much as the rest of us do. Perhaps you only want it as a respite between battles, a good night's sleep, a quiet evening with your wife. I wish I could give these to you. As it is, I cannot even give you a swift recovery."
He stooped down in front of the chamber and looked at her through the transparent surface.
"I am not as oblivious as you might think," he said. "I know how important it is that you return to the front lines. Even now, I feel like your expression is daring me to do better. I don't know that I can. Is it worth the risk? Is it worth your life?"
He had gone over the mycotherapy procedure several times after speaking with Wampaaan'riix. He thought he could do it. What troubled him was that it had never been done quite the way he had in mind. As he regarded Luffa's face, he thought of his son, Turner, begging him to take the transport he had arranged to get him out of the warzone. He thought of his daughter, Nwitt, desperate for help, when the only thing he could offer was a painless death.
Then he put his hand on the control panel of the chamber, and activated the program to revive the occupant.
"I'll need to interrupt your sleep," he said. "I have something to discuss with you, and you may want to talk it over with your spouse."
*******
[31 May, 233 Before Age. Pillimede Asteroid Belt.]
They said yes. Of course they did. Topsas never doubted it. Luffa was a warrior anxious to return to her war, and Zatte was... well, she was something of a fanatic where Luffa was concerned. She insisted on performing some Dorlun ritual to honor Topsas before he began his work. It involved some sort of liturgy, and burning bits of her own hair in candle flames. Zatte could be very strange at times. But Luffa was the one that made him the most nervous. When he had explained the risks and difficulties of his proposed mycotherapy treatment, she simply grinned at him with that savage smile of hers, and shook his hand.
"I can tell how fired up you are about this, Doc," she had said before being sedated. "This should be fun."
It was as if she couldn't tell excitement from apprehension. But something about the conviction in her voice made him wonder if maybe she knew his feelings better than he did. Perhaps he was the one who had been mistaking enthusiasm for fear. Luffa had a peculiar talent of making him question himself.
And so far, it was working. Dr. Topsas wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not. An early failure at this stage would at least put the matter to rest. He could say he tried, and move on. But it was working, at least for now, which mean that he had to keep going, and brave the potential failures that might still lie ahead.
He had never used seven hands at once. Not for surgery, not for anything, until today. Now, he rested his cephalothoarx on a barstool he had borrowed from a lounge on the ship, and used only one of his limbs to steady himself on that perch. The other seven limbs loomed over the stasis chamber, operating controls, dispensing drugs, and occasionally probing surgical incisions. His eight eyes observed all of this: his own movements, computer monitors, vital sign readouts, and more.
His two greatest points of concern were a hole in Luffa's left foot, and a damaged section of her right kidney. The foot had the largest injury, which required the largest fungal graft. If any of the grafts were to grow out of control, that was the most likely to do so. The kidney, on the other hand, was the most vital organ he had grafted. The graft was small, but if anything went wrong there, it could lead to more serious complications.
There were fifteen other sites to consider as well. Tendon damage in the right tricep. Puncture wound in the right foot. Left ring finger fracture. Three cracked ribs. Anterior cruciate ligament tear on right knee. Six lacerations in the abdomen, all damaging the large intestine. Large contusion on left thigh. Tendon damage on right shoulder. But he was certain that if the left foot and kidney could be made to recover, the others could be made to recover as well.
The first seventy-two hours were the most intensive. Normally, a team of doctors would carefully monitor the patient's progress and make adjustments as needed. He would need to do this alone, continuously. And he would probably have to be more nimble, since there would probably be unforeseen complications. He could slow down and take a little more time, but this carried a risk. If Luffa's organs rejected the fungal grafts, or vice-versa, he would need to take quick action, or risk undoing his progress. Better to exhaust himself across three days than to pace himself across four or five.
An alert from one of the monitors warned him of an acceleration in growth on one of Luffa's ribs. He applied a dilute solution of R-gel to slow it down. Beside Luffa was a tray of solutions he had prepared at various concentrations before beginning the procedure. Normally, a doctor administering mycotherapy would simply use one of the stronger concentrations. At worst, the entire graft might die, and he would have to apply a new one. Topsas didn't want to wait that long, and so he added his own variation to the procedure. He had to slow any runaway fungal growth, but he would try to use dilute R-gel first, so as not to risk destroying his progress on that front.
It was all experimental and unprecedented. The technique was sound, and he was sure of his abilities, but it had never been done quite like this, with so many simultaneous grafts. He didn't care for blazing new trails. Being the first was a scary proposition. But the situation had forced his hand. How could he turn away from this? He had too many hands, and too many eyes not to try.
Luffa's metabolic readouts were fluctuating, and so he had to divide his attention to modifying her nutrient intake. This, in turn, shifted the delicate balance of the grafts. He was losing one of them, the one on her arm.
No. He refused to surrender. It would be all too easy to sacrifice a few of the mycotheraputic sites and start over on a second session. Easier, safer, and more time-consuming. How many people could Luffa help during that lost time? Was he willing to doom them just to make things easier for himself?
He looked down at Luffa's face. Even unconscious, there was something aggressive in her expression, like she was aware of the struggle he was going through.
He had never completely understood his late daughter. Even before her illness, Nwitt's manic passions seemed alien to him, and to everyone he knew. He had seen some of Nwitt in Luffa, and pitied her for it. But over time, he came to see the Saiyan heart as something more than an engine of war. Luffa had shown him a fiery passion that could do more than kill. She could laugh, cry, love, and draw strength from those intense emotions. And as Topsas came to admire Luffa, he began to appreciate Nwitt all the more. For the first time in decades, Topsas saw his daughter as something other than a tragedy to be mourned. Her short life, and the wild emotions that fueled it, were something to be celebrated and cherished. Even the fear that came at the end, well that had its own meaning, in its own way.
He prayed for some of that energy now. If his skill and steady hands should falter, there was still his pride as a healer to drive him. There was still the thrill of the challenge, the fear of failure. His daughter was dead, but if he could save this little mammal in her honor, then maybe it would give some purpose to her loss.
"I won't lose," he said aloud. Whether he was speaking to himself or to his patient, or to Nwitt's spirit, he did not know. As he worked, he soon forgot all thoughts of the risks of this task. He ignored the fatigue that began to weather his stamina. He simply ignored all other courses, save the one he was on.
Zatte--bless her soul--believed Luffa to be an instrument of God's will. While Topsas respected this viewpoint, he disagreed. He had seen Luffa on the day she had first transformed. He had seen how violent and terrified she was. He had held her hand to calm her down. He still remembered the feel of Tikosi blood on her fingers, the whimpers she made as she fought to regain control of her own body. Perhaps this was the way divine instruments were chosen, but Topsas had trouble believing it. There was nothing glorious or honorable about it. She was compelled to follow an unknown path that was fraught with danger. And Luffa had faced that fate with courage on that day.
He swore to do no less on this day.
And the next day.
He didn't sleep in the way that vertebrates did. When he was tired, Topsas simply ceased moving, and remained still for a time, though he remained fully aware of his surroundings. He was long overdue for this type of rest, but he couldn't stop for long. Having completed his work on Luffa, he was anxious to drain the chamber and revive her, so that he could conduct a more thorough examination, and make sure there were no lasting side-effects. The entire process took forty-five minutes. While mechanical pumps removed the medicated fluid, a tube attached to a face mask removed the fluid from her lungs, gradually reacquainting her respiratory system with air. The mask also delivered a sedative, and when he was ready, he reduced the dosage, opened the lid of the chamber and waited.
She regained consciousness almost immediately, barely giving him time to prepare the med scanner. "Where...? Oh. Right, the stasis chamber," she said, as she came to her senses. "How did it go?"
"Better... better than expected," Topsas said, surprised by the hoarseness of his voice. "I... yes, better than expected. I'll leave it at that."
"Where's Zatte?"
"Oh, I... er, neglected to call her. I imagine she would be on the bridge. I've lost track of the time."
"How long was I out?"
"Three days." Tired as he was, he could not easily forget this, as he hadn't rested in all of that time.
"Three? You said it would take a week."
"Ah, yes, I did. It seems that your body was much more agreeable to the mycotherapy than I anticipated. I still want you to rest, but I don't know that we'll need the chamber for that. How are you feeling?"
Luffa paused for a moment, as though searching herself for an answer. "Sore," she said. Holding her hands in front of her face. "Not as bad as before, but... my vision's all... blurry."
Relief washed over him. Blurry vision, he could deal with. He had worried that she wouldn't be able to see at all, or something worse. He passed the med-scanner over her face anyway, to verify what she had said, but now he could feel more confident about it.
"A side effect of the fungal grafts," Topsas explained. "Your eyesight will return to normal eventually, though I shall have to monitor it carefully before we repeat the process."
"Repeat it?" Luffa asked.
"I think... yes, I think I've learned enough from this first attempt to feel confident about trying again," Topsas said. "The benefits seem to outweigh the risks at this point."
Luffa tried to sit up, and Topsas reached out to hold her back and guide her upright.
"Hold on," she said. "You're telling me that you managed to heal me up from all of that, in three days' time? And you can do it again? Whenever you want?"
"Not 'whenever'," he said with a sigh. "As I just said, I need to monitor your vision first. If we proceed too quickly, use the fungal graft too often, we run the risk of permanently damaging your senses."
"Yeah, but still..." She held up her left hand and looked at it. "It's not too blurry. Not sure why I see this blue tint on my skin..."
"That is the stasis fluid, little mammal," he said. One of his hands was already reaching up with a towel to wipe it off.
"Doc, are you okay?"
"Why would I not be?"
"You just sound tired somehow. It's hard to tell with you."
"I... may have overexerted a little," he admitted.
"You should rest," Luffa said. She planted her hands on the side of the chamber and began to pull herself out. "I can the service droid to bring us some dinner--"
He grabbed her by the shoulder to stop her from going any further.
"You are going to stay put until I am satisfied that your condition is stable," he said, noticing a faltering in his voice. "I just put you back together, and I want at least a little time to savor the victory before you rush off to undo all of my hard work."
"Sure, Doc, whatever you say," Luffa assured him. He turned to fetch something from one of the benchtops, and then he noticed her smiling at him.
"Does something amuse you?" he asked.
"You turned a corner, didn't you?" Luffa asked. "I'm a little out of it, but I can tell that much."
"I have no idea what you are talking about."
"You weren't too thrilled about trying something like this, but now that it's over, you're practically champing at the bit to do it again."
"Oh yes, because I always look forward to seeing you return to this ship, bloodied and battered. Truly the highlight of my day."
"You remind me of when I was a kid, after I did my first Gallick Gun," Luffa said.
He said nothing, and pretended to be preoccupied with his scans.
"It might be a while before you get to do it again," she said. "Now that I'm healed up, it'll take a lot more to wear me down again. Those Jindan-using bastards won't have it so easy next time. Don't get too eager. You might get bored waiting for me to get hurt."
"I shall believe that when I see it," Topsas said.
She kept on gloating, as Saiyans so often do, about how she would destroy her enemies and reign supreme on the battlefield. Topsas simply carried on with his work, and when he was satisfied that there was nothing left for him to do for the time being, he called Zatte, then went to Luffa's bedside, and held her hand.
NEXT: To the future...
Drusilla's Soul Chapter 11 Part 1
Odaiba, Japan
A young boy woke up in the morning. TK was now 11 and it was his first day of school. He got up and yawned as he stretched his body. He had a good night's sleep. He glanced at his clock. It was 7:00 AM. before going to school. He got off the bed and looked at the calendar that marked a circle on schedule.
‘So today is the first day of school, and everything is normal.’ TK thought.
He looked outside the window, it was a normal day. People were busy and the vehicles passing by.
‘It’s been 3 years we've defeated Apocalymon.’ TK thought went to the bathroom to take a shower. He turned on a shower knob when the water was running. He undressed his pajama and threw into the laundry bin, and got into a nice, hot shower to wet his ivory skin. TK sighed blissfully as he grabbed a bar soap and loofah sponge rubbed together as it became suds and washed his body. He grabbed a 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner and poured onto his head and washed it.
After he finished showering, he grabbed a towel and wrapped it around his waist, and got out of the shower, and he began brushing his teeth. When he was done brushing his teeth for 5 minutes, he went to his bedroom to change clothes. He picked out his underwear, shorts, and socks from the dresser. He put on his underwear under a towel, then disrobed the towel. He then put on shorts and socks. He went to the closet and grabbed a yellow, long-sleeved and green torso shirt and put it on. TK brushed his blond hair to make it perfect.
TK went to the kitchen to make breakfast. He opened the cupboard and grabbed his favorite cereal was Honey Comb, then he grabbed a bowl and poured a cereal into a bowl, and then he opened a fridge to grab a milk, poured into the bowl, put the milk back in the fridge. And he started eating his breakfast.
After he finished his cereal, he was ready to go to school.
“I’m done, Mom. I’m leaving.” TK called his mother in her room.
“"I'm sorry that I can't go with you on your first day of school. I have to finish the article today." apologized Nancy, typing the keyboard.
“It’s okay, I can go by myself.” said TK, carrying a backpack while putting on a bucket hat, slipping into his green boots.
“See you later!” He bidded farewell to his mother.
He exited his home and went on his way to the elevator. He met two neighbors inside the elevator. There was a girl with long lavender hair that ran down her waist, a blue bandana that tied over her head, round glasses, wearing a dark pink dress under a light pink blouse, wearing dark purple tights that matched socks, and she had pink shoes.
And the small boy with brown hair in a short bowl cut, wearing a purple shirt, gray pants and brown shoes.
"How's it going?" The boy greeted them causally.
"Fine, thank you." The girl nodded her head at him and replied politely.
"Great!" The blonde boy smiled. "My name's TK, and my mom and I just moved into the building. I'm in fifth grade, class A, nice to meet you."
The girl brightened instantly. "Oh hi! My name is Yolei. Would you like to walk to school with us? We can talk as we walk, so we'll be able to get to know each other better. It'll be fun." Yolei gestured to the boy next to her. "Oh, and this is Cody."
Cody bowed politely, “Welcome to the building. Now come on, we don’t want to be late on our first day.” he smiled at the older boy.
"Let's do it." TK nodded at the both of them, and the lift closed behind him and carried on down towards the ground floor of the building.
"Hey Yolei, can you come over after school and fix my computer again?" Cody asked the lavender haired girl as they neared the school gates.
"Only if I get some of your mom's brownies, you know how much I love them!" Yolei bartered, always ready to jump on a chance for some of his mom's delicious brownies.
"Sure, she always makes extra anyway." Cody grinned. She didn't really, but he'd already asked her to make some for Yolei, having guessed what his friend would want in exchange for her services.
As the trio walked through the gate, they heard the sounds of a football game being played. TK glanced at the players briefly, but stopped dead when he saw sunlight glittering on a player's forehead - more specifically, on a player's goggles.
‘Tai?” TK thought.
Wild, messy dark brown hair, goggles nestled within it, and bright and warm amber eyes, blue t-shirt, brown shorts playing in the soccer field.
‘Am I seeing things?’ TK thought as he blinked his eyes. It morphed into a different boy who had frizzy burgundy hair, and dark brown eyes. He wears a dark blue short-sleeved hoodie, brown shorts, and socks and orange boots.
‘Besides, he’s in high school now. I’m seeing things.’ TK thought.
The player kicked the ball to the googled boy, but the player’s aim went flying straight to the blond boy, and he caught it.
"Thanks. Great catch." Davis walked up to TK, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly.
"You look familiar." TK smiled, and tossed the ball to the football player. "Must be the goggles."
“Huh?” The burgundy haired boy had a puzzled look on his face.
“Hey! What are you doing? Bring the ball here!” The player shouted.
He snapped out of it, and booted the ball again.
TK walked away laughing softly to himself, shaking his head thinking to himself 'How could I ever have mistaken that kid for Tai? Tai's in high school now'.
Just as the bell was ringing for the first class of the day, Davis walked into his classroom. He sighed with relief when he saw his crush was still in the same class as him.
"What luck, you're in my class again Kari!" He called out to her as he went to sit down on the desk to her right. His crush stood and turned to face him. She hadn't changed much over the holiday, still wearing pink shirts, pink long fingerless gloves and yellow shorts, and still wearing the camera around her neck.
Kari smiled at him. "I wouldn't call that luck." And she sat down at her desk, eager to start the lesson for some reason.
"Hey, the weirdest thing just happened. This new kid said I reminded him of someone. Probably thinks I'm a movie star." Davis grinned at the brown haired girl in front of him, but she just cocked her head and made a "huh" noise.
A few minutes later
"I'm Mr. Hamisaki, I'll be your teacher." said Mr. Hamisaki.
Davis slumped in his desk as the teacher droned on. ‘Why did he have to be in the class with the BORING teacher?’ Davis thought as he glanced at Kari.
‘Well, at least I’m in Kari’s class’ He consoled himself.
"And I'd like you all to welcome a new student." He said, smiling.
‘Wait, what?’ Davis was suddenly at attention, staring at the blonde boy who thought he had looked familiar earlier.
"It's nice to meet you. I'm TK." The blonde boy introduced himself, smiling at the class.
"Please take a seat next to the girl with the camera around her neck." As the teacher directed TK, Davis looked around rapidly and groaned. Just his luck, blondie would have to sit next to Kari.
Kari turned and smiled at TK as he sat next to her. That was normal for Kari, she smiled at everyone. The surprise came for Davis when the boy opened his mouth and talked to Kari.
"Together again, huh, Kari?" As he greeted her.
“Just like old times.” Kari smiled.
‘ He’s trying to make a move on with my girl!’ Davis thought in jealousy.
And the teacher began to lecture about the algebra, TK and Kari talked quietly and energetically.
“Our teacher looks like... Ogremon.” joked TK.
Kari couldn’t help but laugh at the joke.
At Lockers Room
"So TK, how does your mom like the new apartment?" Kari asked her best friend as she put her bag into her locker.
"She hasn't seen it yet, she's been on the computer the whole time." TK laughed, doing the same thing. Before they could delve any further into idle chit chat, Davis turned the corner of the hallway, panting incredibly hard.
"Hey buddy!" Davis glared angrily right at the hat wearing boy. Kari and TK stared at him, confused as to why he was so angry with TK.
“His name is not ‘Buddy’, it’s TK.” said Kari, annoyed.
"Alright TJ or JB, or whatever it is. How do you know Kari!?” Davis glared angrily at TK.
TK looked confused. “Huh? How do I know her?” He tilted his head and laughed. “ Oh, I get it! You're jealous of me”
"I'm not jealous of anybody!" yelled Davis.
Davis looked ready to throw a punch, but was stopped by the sound of footsteps behind him. A purple-haired girl holding a folded sheet of paper turned the corner Davis had turned not a long time ago and yelled "HEY!"
TK recognized her instantly. "Oh, hi Yolei."
"You're Kari Kamiya, aren't you?" Yolei asked as she walked up to Kari.
"That's right. Why do you ask?" Kari replied, looking puzzled as to why she was being asked who she was by a girl TK knew.
"Well," Yolei started, then opened the piece of paper. "Are you related to Tai? He sent this to my computer." Kari and TK stared in shock for a moment at the text on the page.
“My brother needs us!” said Kari.
The four of them run down the hallway and along the way they run into none other than the computer genius and bearer of the Crest of Knowledge, Izzy Izumi wearing his uniform and walking up the stairs.
“Izzy!” exclaimed Yolei.
“Hey Yolei, I'm glad I found you. I need to use the computer room right away!” said Izzy.
Yolei clasped her hand in excitement. “You mean the legendary former computer club president is actually looking for me, I'm honoured!”
“What's up Izzy?” asked TK.
Kari quickly showed Izzy the email. “Tai sent us an urgent email!”
Izzy nodded, “Yeah, I know; I got one too! I was just about to send Tai an answer when the battery ran out on my D-terminal. I knew I should've recharged it after I played Trigonometry Privy on the internet last night. Oh, boy, talk about fun. I got him!” said Izzy, sending a message to Tai.
Yolei was intrigued by the Digital World.
“What's the Digital World? Is that a new amusement park? I bet they have some great rides.” said Yolei.
TK and Kari tried to come up with something, not sure how to respond and Davis realized he had heard "Digital World" somewhere before.
“I've heard about it from Tai once, he said there were a lot of Digimon there, whatever they are.” said Davis.
“You know Tai?” asked TK.
“They play on the same soccer team.” said Kari.
“Hey guys, I've got an idea, how 'bout we all go to the Digital World?” asked Yolei.
Luckily, they are saved by the untimely arrival of Cody.
“Yolei, weren't you coming over? Remember you were gonna fix my computer.” inquired Cody.
“Oh…sorry I forgot!” Yolei apologized and went to Cody to fix his computer.
“If Tai's there, the gate to the Digital World's open!” Izzy said. “We’re going back to the Digital World! Prodigious!”
Davis said, “I'm going with you!” He wanted to come to the Digital World, as long as Izzy, TK, and Kari have their Digivices out and they can’t do anything to help Davis right now.
“That's impossible. Not just anybody can go, y'know. You need a Digivice.” said TK.
Davis began to argue. “Listen, TC, if you can go, so can I.”
Suddenly, the screen flashed and 3 beams of light flew out of the screen. The blue light stopped right in Davis' hand and the red and yellow flew out of the hallway into Yolei and Cody's hands.
Davis showed what he just received and it was a Digivice but it was much different. This Digivice was mostly the shape of an oval with a bigger antenna. There were more buttons and blue highlights on both sides.
“Whoa! What’s this?!” Davis exclaimed, holding out a blue Digivice.
“A Digivice!” surprised TK.
“It's a different model than the ones we have.” said Kari, glanced at her original digivice.
Izzy looked at the gate. “We'd better go now while the gate to the Digital World is still open.”
“Yeah, but how long will it stay open for?” asked TK.
“I don't care. I'm going to help my brother.” said Kari.
“Hey, can I get Donkey Madness on this thing?” Davis asked.
Izzy shook his head. “It's not a game; if the Digital World sends you a Digivice then there's a reason and you should take it seriously.”
Kari sighed. “ I'm not waiting any longer!” Kari aimed her Digivice at the screen and it shone with a brilliant blast of light that sucked her in.
“I'm with you!” TK aimed his Digivice as well and got sucked in too.
Davis had his mouth open in absolute shock.
“It's your turn, unless you're scared.” said Izzy.
Davis shrugged it off and aimed his Digivice too.He got sucked into the computer as well and the flash of light can be seen in the hallway. Izzy prepared to go with them until Yolei and Cody rushed in after seeing the light.
“Whoa! What's going on in here?!” exclaimed Yolei.
Izzy almost dropped his Digivice in shock and hid it behind his back with a funny and innocent expression.
“Nothing! Heh, heh!” Izzy laughed nervously.
Yolei and Cody walked up to him in confusion.
Yolei put her hands on her hips. “Izzy, what was that light!?” she asked that she knew Izzy was lying.
Izzy scratched the back of head nervously. “Uh…the computer must need a new screen saver.” He continued nervously laughing, hoping to fool them.
Meanwhile at the Digital World
Kari, TK, and Davis flew through the streams of data in the Digital Gate. Once they arrived and Davis was in awe.
“Whoa, my first time being downloaded, pretty cool. So, this is the Digital World, huh?” Davis said, he took a look around his new surroundings before exclaiming in surprise at the new clothes he was wearing. Davis wears a dark blue bomber jacket with a red and yellow flame pattern at the bottom and over a light green shirt. He also wears dark olive green shorts, dark blue socks, and orange and white boots.
“Whoa! This place comes with a new wardrobe!” Davis liked his style.
Unbeknownst to them, the Digimon Emperor had spotted them and was watching over them.
He had spiky, blue hair in varying shades of blue and light blue, he wore yellow sunglasses with purple lenses, a blue, gray and white jumpsuit, black shoes, cuffs on his wrists and ankles, a dark gray belt with a yellow buckle on it, and also a blue cape with a yellow lining that looked very much like insect wings, with golden-yellow shoulder pads.
Digimon Emperor grinned on screen. “Looks like we have some visitors in my garden and they weren't even on the guest list.”
Kari looked at her Digivice and it was showing 1 Digivice signal that was orange.
“He’s over this way.” said Kari.
“This place doesn't seem so scary; the way Tai put it there are monsters everywhere.” said Davis, he stopped as he spotted a vending machine. “Hey guys, check it out, there's a vending machine. I am a little thirsty.”
Im on as much as I can be, I had a bad few weeks during june where I wasnt able to get on due to personal issues but that is very rare for me. I give 70% of my day to this group… which now that I type it sounds really sad…
How did you stumble upon Walt?
Zane Holtz tag, a true hottie
Did you read the rules?
Yes!
Are you sure?
- and I bet they’d be cute!
Character you want?
Tiana Hudson
Please describe the character for us
Tiana is a realistic dreamer, when she dreams it’s bigger than anyone else’s but she is willing to put the work in. Tiana knows nothing in this world comes free and pours her blood, sweat and tears into everything she does in order to make her dreams come true, She is fiercely passionate and independent, she is extremely sure of herself and sets constant goals. She can seem a little uptight to others but its only because she doesn’t have the time to goof around or take her eyes off the prize. Once she sets her sight on something Tiana will stop at nothing to get it, even if that means missing key moments of her youth. She is a kind hearted soul who really would do anything for anything for anyone, her only flaw is that she’s so focused on her future that she can’t slow down to appreciate her present.
Second character choice
I would be torn between Gabriella Montez and Poppy Lang
It’s time to see that sample para.
The sound of crickets and birds chirping alongside the rising sun mocked Tiana as she reached the front porch, her shift lasted longer than expected as she offered to do overtime and clean the kitchen. It had been a slow night for tips and she needed all the extra cash she could get if she wanted to keep on track for buying a restaurant of her own. Yawning as she entered the family home she shut the door quietly behind her and dropped her bag on the sofa. “Morning baby” her mother called out from the kitchen as Tiana followed the scent of cinnamon and coffee. “Goodnight, Mama” she responded sleepily “I can’t believe you’re up this early” she mumbled taking a seat at the table. Her mother chuckled in her night robe standing over the stove and began spooning porridge into two bowls. “Someone’s gotta’ make sure you eat”. Tiana smiled lazily at her Mother as she placed a warm bowl in front of her “Thankyou Mama”. “You’re welcome Tiana.” The two women ate in silence while Tiana checked her emails and her Mother read the paper. Both too exhausted at this hour of the morning to make chit-chat. Tiana knew her Mother didn’t enjoy waking up this early but appreciated that she would not let her daughter dine alone, eating together was something they continued to do as a family after the death of her Father.
Tiana’s phone buzzed mid-spoonful of porridge and the entire thing dropped to the table with a clatter. “Its the realtors for the Old Sugar Mill!” Tiana gasped, jumping up from her seat. “Gone are the days when they used to mail documents to you– now everything is online” Her mother commented while taking a sip of her coffee. Tiana’s eyes narrowed “Mama stop being so negative– this could be it!” she beamed, feeling her heart pound against her chest. “Well don’t just stand there open it!” her Mother replied, masking her own anxiety. It was tough to watch your child grow up and even tougher to watch them chase their dreams in a world that could be so cruel. “Okay okay– Dear Miss Hudson, we are writing to inform you that your recent bid for Sweetman’s Sugar Mill has been rejected.” Tiana felt her heart sink to her feet as she briefly scanned over the rest of the email, her mother audibly gasped and stood up. “That’s just one realtor, there’s plenty more properties in the City” She said softly, stepping towards Tiana who stood numbly in the kitchen. “It was his dream…” she whispered. Tiana’s mother wrapped her arms tightly around her daughter and kissed her cheek. “Baby you are so young, you’re working too hard. Maybe its time to take a little break– go on a vacation!” she offered. Tiana shook her head. “I can’t. I don’t have the time– I gotta’ make sure Daddy’s hard work means something!”. Tiana’s mother took a step back. “Tiana!” she said sternly. “Your Daddy may not have got the restaurant he wanted but he had something better.” placing a gentle hand on her daughter’s cheek, her voice was soft. “He had love.”
Tiana felt like she was going to burst into tears, she buried her head against her Mother’s shoulder as she hugged her. “I don’t know what to do..” she confessed, feeling helpless, lost, not only was she letting herself down she was also letting her Father down. Her Mother soothingly patted her back. “There there– you learn from it baby. You take the rejection and you let it go. You use it to fuel your fire and you continue to live your life… and maybe you get coffee with the sweet boy from the bakery.” Tiana pulled back from her Mother’s embrace and rolled her eyes. “Quit tryna’ marry me off I’ve got plenty of time to date.” she replied, folding her arms. “So do it then” her Mother replied. The two women were now smiling, though Tiana was faking it to please her Mother. She didn’t understand, she wanted Tiana to date and go dancing, like any of that could mean something when her heart clearly belonged to a different dream.  A dream that was now just out of her reach. She was almost there. “Whatever I gotta’ go email some auctioneers and property scout” she said with a wave of dismissal heading towards her room. “Don’t forget to shower and take a nap!” her Mother called out in response. Tiana grunted some kind of reply reaching her bedroom door, she heard the sound of her mother’s sewing machine buzz in the background. Now she was free to feel her emotions without interruption.
As Tiana shut over her bedroom door she began to tear up, passing her collection of family photographs on her dresser she picked up the one of her Father smiling that they used for the funeral. “Daddy I’m so sorry…” she whispered, wiping her thumb across his face. He looked so happy, full of life and hopes and dreams. She missed him everyday and now she was failing him, it was a disappointment too hard to stomach. “There’s nothing here for us anymore.. I gotta’ go somewhere with real opportunities.” she explained. Tiana placed a kiss on the forehead of her Father’s photo and gently put it back onto the dresser, kicking off her shoes she climbed onto her bed and pulled out her phone. She softly wiped away at the tears that began to fall from her eyes. “No more crying, No more feeling sorry for yourself Miss Tiana!” she warned. “We accept it, we move on and we keep trying!”. In the spirit of looking for a new opportunity Tiana scrolled through her contact list and began to type a new message.
Time Never Stops
Chapter Seven: Just a Bug
Word Count: 2075
Prologue   Ch 1   Ch 2   Ch 3   Ch 4   Ch 5   Ch 6
Tumblr media
Warning: Mentions of getting sick, slight angst (not really)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Alrighty," I rub my hands together as I sit down in front of my computer, "Are we recording Golf with Friends first or going over what we are doing for the PAX panel?"
"Record first," Arya states as Marz plops down beside her with two mugs in hand, "We then can practice our little spiel after the fact."
"Sounds like a plan. We ready for intros?" Kyle asks, stretching his arms over his head.
"Yeah, lets get-" my stomach lurches, causing me to pause and place a hand over my stomach.
"You okay there, TL?" Marz asks.
I shake my head before quickly standing from my seat, hand over my mouth, and sprint for the bathroom, the voices for my friends yelling from Skype behind me. I collapse to my knees and vomit into the toilet, groaning after finally emptying my stomach of what I had eaten for breakfast. I gasp for air, leaning an arm on the seat while laying my head on top to catch my breath and let the lightheadedness pass before flushing the toilet. I stand slowly and move to the sink to rinse out my mouth, then brush my teeth. I take a chance to look at my tear stained cheeks and pale face. I let out an annoyed breath before slowly making my way back down the hallway to the kitchen. I pop the fridge open to grab a bottle of ginger ale from the door shelf and grabbing a pack of saltine crackers from off the counter before walking back to the recording room.
"What the hell was that about?" Marz yells as I plop down in my chair, setting the bottle off screen while I reset my mics, chewing on the crackers.
"I haven't been feeling well the past few days, I'm fine, just a bug." I state quickly, running my hands through my hair. "Am I good to start the intro?"
"Yeah," Jac says with a raised eyebrow, Kyle cracks his knuckles next to him, "start us out, TL, before you get sick again."
I flip him off before clapping my hands together, "What's up guys, you're on with TimeLock,-"
"JacKylegameplays," the boys shout
"Welcome," Arya murmurs directly into the mic
"to Oblivion," Marz rasps
"And you're on," I state
"With GameSquad."
~
"Thanks so much for watching," Arya calls smiling at the camera after a two hour recording session.
"We will see you all, in the next one!" Jac and Kyle call out.
"Don't forget to check out our personal channels if you miss us." Marz states, pouting out her lower lip.
"And make sure to give that like button a little bit of love." I state, smiling at the camera.
"Until next time, this is GameSquad, signing off." We state together before stopping our recordings and giving everyone a thumbs up to show that we are all stopped.
"Okay," Arya groans while Marz moves from her seat to grab her phone from off the charger, "who is editing this bad boy?"
"It's the boys turn to edit the video. I don't know who is doing it, but the we have edited the last 3 weeks." Marz states before sitting back down in her chair.
"I have to pee, I'm not doing the editing, boys." I state, bouncing in my seat.
"Send over your recordings and I'll edit them," Kyle says, running a hand through his freshly dyed midnight blue hair while Jac pushes his chair away from the desk and rolls off screen. The girls and I upload our recordings and get them ready to send while we chit chat back and forth.
"I think this is the first time we have actually recorded since you've been back, TL." Jac yells off screen when I return from the bathroom.
"Yeah, I mean we pre-recorded videos for about a month so we wouldn't have to worry about it while I was gone then when Marz and Arya went on that trip with their family." I yawn, uncapping my pop to take a swig.
"And you haven't told us about your trip with Spiderling, TL." Kyle says, wiggling his eyebrows at me, making me laugh.
It had been five weeks since Tom and I departed from Oregon and went our separate ways since he had to get ready to go to premieres and interviews for late June.
"Sorry I couldn't travel back home with you, love." Tom murmured against my lips while we stood at his gate.
"Not like you could have changed it, babe." I whisper.
Tom cards his hand through my hair before cupping my face. "I love you, (Y/N), so much."
"I love you too, Tom, and just think. In a month and a half I'll be out in L.A. to join you for your premiere for the newest Avengers movie."
"I get to show you off as my girlfriend, and I cannot wait," he whispers, leaning his forehead against mine before pressing his lips into mine again, smiling into the kiss.
I pull away, looking into his brown eyes that in his swim with nothing but love. "You're going to miss your flight if you aren't off." I whisper, only to be cut off again by his lips.
He takes his time, before moving from my lips to my cheeks, my jaw, then my forehead before sighing. "I love you, darling. Call when you get home?" He states, backing up until all he is holding is my hands.
"Only if you call when you do." I whisper, lifting his hand to my lips, "I love you too. Now," I squeeze his hands before spinning him toward his gate, "Go before you miss your flight."
He laughs before spinning back around and kissing my lips. "See you in seven weeks."
"Seven weeks." I repeat before he finally walks to the door, but not before he gives me another wave, and walking inside.
"Everything was super fun, we visited so many places: the Japanese gardens, Mt. Tabor, art museums, the zoo, and more. And as you all know we figured out that we admitted that we loved each other," I muse.
"The ship finally sailed!" Marz yells, making us all laugh.
"Well, we are very glad that you are happy, TL, and that you had a great time." Kyle says, smiling at me.
"I do have a question, though." Arya says, looking intently at me. "How long have you been sick, (Y/N/N)?" She asks, raising an eyebrow.
"Uh, a few days." I state, leaning into my headrest, "Why?"
"Just curious, it seems odd that you are a bit sick five weeks after your trip with Tom." Arya states, leaning into Marz's side.
"And what exactly are you getting at?" I accuse, white, hot anger running through me.
"I think Ari is assuming that you and Tom did a little more than just kissing on your trip." Kyle wiggles his eyebrows, making Jac laugh.
"I'm not pregnant," I state, shaking my head, the group gasping as I roll my eyes. "It's just a bug, probably got it from flying home."
"I know, I mean, it is you. You don't have to get pissed about it" Marz laughs. "Damn, dormant virus," she giggles. I give here an apologetic look before shaking my head and laughing along with her.
Once the subject jumps away from my illness I pull my phone out of my desk drawer while we get ready to perform our little script for PAX. The lock screen revealing a picture of Tom after one of our days 'spent in bed.' I open my contacts and pull up my recent messages, clicking into Izzy's.

-
"TL?" My head shoots up from where I am looking down at my phone to the rest of GameSquad. "You alright?" Kyle asks.
"Yeah. Uh, want me to get started?" I ask, watching as everyone nods. "Alright everybody," I clap my hands together, leaning toward the screen, "storytime."
~
I wave goodbye to the rest of GameSquad before turning off the computer for the night. I run my hands through my hair before I stand and walk out into the hallway and into the kitchen. I glance at the clock, 5:15 PM.
"Time to call for food." I mutter as I grab my phone out of Tom's blue hoodie and dial my favorite Chinese place. Once the order is placed I spend the next twenty minutes moving around the apartment until I find myself back into the kitchen. I play with my lip as I lean against the counter, grabbing a water bottle in my hand and tossing it in the air, flipping it. I jump when there is a knock on the door and I quickly move to answer it. I yank it open and cause the man behind it to jump. "I'm sorry, a bit on edge, how much do I owe you?" I ask, pulling my wallet out of the front pocket.
"Fifteen sixty." The man states, handing me the bag for my food.
I pass him $22 and mutter a quick, "Keep the change." I shut the door and deposit the bag onto the kitchen counter, breathing in the savory smells of the contents. The sound of knocking, the tap, double tap, tap on the door signals Izzy's arrival pulls me from my thoughts.
"Hey there, (Y/N/N), I have the, uh, tests." Izzy calls from down the hall.
"I'm in the kitchen, Iz. Food just got here." I call back. Izzy walks into the kitchen with bag in hand.
"Uh, do you want to do this first or eat?" Izzy asks, setting the bag on the counter.
"Food, that way I can tell you about, uh, why I needed these." I grab the bag and motion for her to follow me into the living room.
"You and Tom what?!" Izzy yells, making me blush and let out a small laugh, "(Y/N/N)-"
"Okay, it wasn't planned, it just kinda happened. And then it happened, uh a few more times-" I shake my head, placing a hand over my forehead.
"I do not want to hear about this." Izzy laughs, then she looks at me seriously, "but you think that there's a possibility that you are pregnant?"
"I'm on birth control," I state, setting the empty to-go container on the coffee table, "but it is always possible that it didn't work." I whisper, looking at a few picture frames that sit on a bookshelf to my left. Showing pictures from my high school graduation, Izzy's first book signing, my first PAX, and the first premiere I attended with Tom.
"Well, I'm not leaving until you take the test. And, you know me," Izzy grabs my hand and smiles at me, "I am here for the long run."
"Thanks, Iz." I lean forward and pulling her into a hug. After a few minutes I pull away, letting out an annoyed groan. "Well, now I am gonna go in the bathroom and, pee on a stick." Izzy laughs as I stand from the couch and walk to the bathroom with the box in hand.
~
I pace the small length of the bathroom while Izzy sits on the bathtub, waiting for the timer on my phone to go off.
"Everything is going to be okay, (Y/N/N)," Izzy states, holding out her hand.
I take it and squeeze, "I just," I run a hand over my face, "I just don't know how I should feel about-" the timer on my phone going off on the counter cuts me off. I look at her in a panic, and begin to shake my head, "I can't look at it, I can't, Izzy."
"We will look at it together, and whatever happens, everything will be okay." Izzy states, holding my hand. The two of us walk over and take the test upside down in our hands. She looks at me, "Ready?"
"As I will ever be." I whisper. We take one more deep breath before flipping the test over.

before I go (part I)
Summary : Your time was running out.
[dad! shawn] , [super sad]
word count : 1286 words
-
As you rested on the hospital bed, you heard a soft knock on the door and it opened. It was Shawn. You looked over to him and let out a weak smile. He was wearing his denim jacket against the cold hospital air. He carried a bouquet of flowers. He smiled to your view by the doorframe and called, "Come on darling!" out the door.. did he bring Beth?
Shawn looked back at you, "Guess who's here to visit you!" You furrowed my eyebrows, "Shawn... she can't see me like this. We talked about it remember?" You said weakly.
"Honey, Beth has been missing you like crazy. The school has been calling like non-stop because she's always crying over the fact that she can't see her mother." Shawn sighed.
"Shawn-" You were cut off by the abrupt arrival of your daughter at the doorframe. You gulped and feared for her reaction. All the tubes, the gown, the monitor, the flowers. You couldn't stand to see what reaction Beth would have.
"Mummy?"
You took a deep breath, "Hey darling." You said, trying to put all your energy to sound alright. Beth hopped over, still confused with the whole atmosphere.
"Uhmmmm what's all this?" She asked while poking on the tubes. "Why is there a tube in your nose?" She asked innocently. All you wanted to do was just hug her in your arms. You couldn't lift myself up so you just stroked her fingers. "Mummy's just a little ill. These tubes are here to make mummy a lot better." You reassured. Beth smiled to the assurance. "Ow cool!"
Shawn walked over and hugged Beth from the back. "Darling why not you sit next to mummy on the bed?" . Beth nodded with excitement and Shawn carried her, carefully placing her beside you. He then took a seat by the bedside. You wrapped my arms around her.
"Mummy you look so skinny." Beth said. Your heart dropped a lil' . You simply smiled, "So how was school darling?" You asked, changing the subject.
"Cool! My school is having a Mother's Day celebration next week. Will you go with me mummy? Pretty please. All mummies will go on stage- Oh! oh! And we have something very special to show you on stage." Beth begged. You chuckled, "Already saying pretty please to everything huh? Who taught you that?" You asked. "Daddy did! He said if I say pretty please to anything I can get anything I want." She innocently pointed at Shawn. You looked over Shawn who put his hands up, "Guilty." He said.
Without hesitation, "Of course I'll go darling. I wouldn't miss it for the world." You said as you reached to kiss for your daughter's cheek.
"Yay! Thank you mummy." she squealed as she wrapped her small arms around your neck and kissed you on your cheek. She was so sweet.
After a while of chit chat, you caught yourself getting more and more weak in the conversation but you didn't fail to listen to every word your daughter had to say.
"That's great darling. I'm so proud of you." You cheered as your daughter just finished sharing how well her performance was in school.
Shawn noticed your condition. He patted Beth, "Hey darling, why not you have lunch with grandma and grandpa outside yeah? They're with Aunt Aaliyah too." Beth simply smiled. "Do you need daddy to accompany you?" Shawn asks. Beth wrapped her arms and shook her head confidently, "Nope!" You and Shawn laughed, "Alright darling, stay safe yeah." Beth looked over to you, "Bye mummy, see you later!" She squealed as she jumped off the bed and walked out the door. You mouthed to Shawn to go take a look at her to make sure she was safe. Shawn nodded and watched her by the doorframe as she left.
"Our little girl is so independent..and strong..and so sweet.." you said. Shawn closes door and walks over to you. He sits on the bed and cups your cheeks, "She is, just like her mummy." Your hands hold onto Shawn's hand on your cheek. You stroke his hand with his thumb.
"How are you? What have the doctors said?" He asks. You sigh. "Not good.." you shake your head. You continued, "It's getting worse Shawn..I-I ..." you cracked. "I don't think I have much time left." Shawn was taken aback, you could feel his heart drop and the tears that were about to brim.
"B-But all the treatment, the medicine, the therapy-" you cut him off, "The doctors tried." Shawn shakes his head in tears, in denial . "No-no.. I'm not letting you go. You're not leaving, not now, not ever." Your heart dropped just looking at him. "I'm going to make sure you get the best treatment and that you have all the support you need. Because baby you're worth fighting for. I still need you, Beth needs you. We all need you. You're too precious."
You rubbed his hands, "C'mere" You said as you brought Shawn in for a hug. You felt his sobs in your shoulder.
-
It was Monday morning. The floral scent from the flowers Shawn gave crept in your nose as you yawned. You were alone, Shawn probably went to send Beth to school. You tried to prop yourself up as you felt the urge to go to the bathroom. You slowly slipped your legs out from the blanket and tried to place your feet on the floor. Once you did , you grabbed onto the pole to stand up. You weakly tried to walk over to the bathroom, putting your grip on the pole as it rolled on the floor.
And then everything went black.
-
“I’m sorry Mr. Mendes her health is declining.”
“Until how long?”
“At this condition, we give it less than a week.”
“W-What?!”
“I’m very sorry, we’ve tried everything. It’s deteriorating to the point that nothing is work.”
“Jesus Christ! We have a family!”
“I’m very very very sorry. I urge your family to spend these last days with her.”
-
You opened your eyes to the moonlight shining through the window. You were confused, wasn’t it just the morning? In panic, you tried to prop yourself up with your elbows.
“Honey, honey, it’s okay.” A voice calmly called. You looked over to your side and saw Shawn, he looked distressed. His eyes were freshly red. “Babe, what’s going on?” You asked.
He sighed. “You passed out. You’re in good hands.” He smiled to reassure you. “Where’s Beth?” You questioned. “It was getting late so Aaliyah took her home. She’ll be coming to visit you first thing after school tomorrow.”
“Right, right...” you sighed. “How are you feeling babe?” You looked over to him. You answered, “I-I don’t know..”
Shawn wrapped his arms around you. You simply smiled. “Can you lay here with me in bed?”. He nodded and got on bed with you. He stroked your cheek. You wrapped your arms around his waist. “Kiss me?” You asked innocently. Shawn obliged and slowly kissed you. It soon started to turn passionate. His kisses went down to your neck. He looked up to you, his hazel eyes staring deep into you. You knew what he was asking for. You nodded, granting his permission. You two got lost in each other. One thing led to another and you both eventually ended up in each other’s arms throughout the night.
When Shawn was fast asleep, you whisper, “I’m going to miss this.” You whisper into his warm chest, drawing circles on his bare back.
-
part 2

Note
hifumi, ichiro, and ramuda when their s/o is obviously super sleepy (eyes can’t stay open, clingy, etc.) but protests going to bed because they want to keep spending time together? lmao ty!!
Here you gooo anon!! This was such a cute request fiufrhjfr I was crying when I wrote this;;; I hope I did it the justice it deserves!!
Hifumi
You’d been visiting Hifumi’s host club for the first time to replace Jakurai, who’d bailed on the visit last minute (for good reason, however)
And of course, the blonde had put in a special request to be the main host of your table
The night had been relatively merry; Hifumi certainly didn’t fail to sweep you off your feet like he normally did, and the atmosphere had been full of jovial chatter
But the alcohol had made you just so sleepy, and before you knew it you’d found yourself struggling to battle your drowsy eyes and imminent yawns
Even if he’s entertaining other people, Hifumi would definitely notice your head drooping from beside him
Gently, he’d tap you in the shoulder and ask if you’re alright
— But it’d make his heart melt to see you blinking determinedly and rubbing your eyes as you mumble “Keep ‘em comin’, I’m still wiiiiide awake…!” in the delirious state of being half-awake and partially intoxicated
He’d ultimately respect your wishes and keep the party going
But if he sees you jolt downwards suddenly, he’d immediately pull you towards him in the most spontaneous way while still managing to appear completely natural to the others on your table
If you instinctively wrap your arms around and snuggle against him like you normally do in private, he’d feel his heart beating much faster than it should be— and it wouldn’t be because of the alcohol
He’d want nothing more than to return the gesture and nuzzle into your hair, but he’d stop himself as there are other customers to entertain
So he’d excuse himself from the table for a while, picking you up bridal-style and carrying you to the staff room where he’d lay you down on the couch and insist you get some sleep
(Of course as much as he’d like to stay with you, he’d likely get an extremely trusted coworker of his to watch over you as he heads back)
But not before pressing an affectionate kiss against your forehead and making sure you’re as comfortable as possible (given that you’d be using the hosts’ spare jackets as a makeshift blanket lol)
He’d come back to pick you up in the morning when his shift is over and carry you back home
Then collapse exhausted alongside you onto the couch in your living room and fall fast asleep without even bothering to change his clothes
But that’s honestly what the two of you do best
Ichiro
Date nights between the two of you were often very simple: if he wasn’t bringing you out to Akihabara or hopping around the different Animates available in Shinjuku or Shibuya, you and Ichiro were often content to simply stay at home
Perhaps playing video games or watching the sappiest of shoujo anime
(Sometimes the two of you would be able to stay up to 2AM binge-watching a particularly good series)
But today had been different: he’d found it strange how your reflexes seemed so much slower during your game on Mario Kart (in which he won for the first time in ages)
Plus he’d been getting worried because of your lack of reaction to the corny jokes being made in Gintama episode 35 that usually made you shriek with unsuppressible laughter
He’d nudge you with his elbow, asking you if you’re feeling unwell
But it wouldn’t take him long to put two and two together upon seeing the sight of you rubbing your eyes before shooting him a wobbly smile
He’d immediately switch off the TV and insist that you go home before it gets late
“It’s getting dark and I don’t want you walking home when it’s late and all the creeps lurk around the streets!” “It’s already dark though?? We’ve been watching Gintama for the past three hours…” “wait what– oH CRAP”
I admit that he’d go absolutely weak if you pull the cute card and cling onto his arm determinedly, staring at him with a groggy little pout on your face as you insist that you want to finish the rest of the episode with him
But at heart Ichiro still is an extremely attentive boyfriend who worries too much over your wellbeing, so there’s no way he’d let you continue onwards when you’re so obviously exhausted
He’d end up making a makeshift fort of pillows and leaning back onto it, pulling you close to him so you can rest your head on his chest
You’d try to protest at first, but the steady beating of his heart you’d be able to so clearly hear would gently lull you into a peaceful sleep
The two of you would likely stay like that for the rest of the night: you curled up and snuggled against him, Ichiro stroking your hair and taking in the calming smell of the conditioner you always use
And he wouldn’t mind the tingling pins-and-needles in his arm one bit
Ramuda
One of the reasons why Ramuda wanted to pursue a long-term relationship with you instead of his usual flings was because he loved how well you were able to put up with his unlimited supply of energy
He’d never have to worry about you tiring out or lagging behind
Or whining at him to “Slow down!” or “Be quiet for a while?” like how the other women would once all the fun and games wore off
Because you’d always be there to battle his affectionate glomps with peppy tackles of your own, and so on and so on
But you’re still human too, and it just so happened that your date night took place after an exhausting day of overworking and staying up late to meet deadlines
He’d honestly be too used to messing around and goofing off with you to notice your little yawns and sudden jolts at first
But he’d soon find your lack of usual spunk rather… strange
He’d squat down next to you and feel your forehead for a fever, asking “Hey hey, what’s wrong~?”
And he’d immediately see the little waver in your eyes as you shake your head to jolt yourself back to reality
“Nothing!” You’d chirp as you blink furiously, and he’d only hum in response
He’d find it fun to mess around with you in your delirious state
Asking ridiculous questions, teasing you relentlessly and poking your cheeks to see if he’d be able to get a different reaction out of you
He’d spurt with laughter if you waved his hand off indignantly and mumbled some slurred replies and comments of your own
Because it’d kinda be like talking to a happy drunk, and he’d find that absolutely adorable
“So what do you wanna do when we get back?” “Mhmm… I wanna cuddle. Yeah, cuddles are nice… Cuddle like a wnsbsn… a plushmochi.” “A what now?? Lol.”
Despite this, he’d still take good care of you; if the two are out, he’d make sure to hold your hand tightly and guide you around safely
If any other man dares make eyes at you, he’d send them the most intimidating glare he’d manage and pull you close to him
He’d make sure to walk you back home, though he wouldn’t tell you because he knows you’d protest returning back so early
Instead, he’d just entertain you with little chit-chat; perhaps keeping your attention by asking you little questions about your day (and not minding your nonsensical replies), or telling you about what he and his Posse were up to this last week
If you fall asleep anyways, he’d carry you back himself (he’s much stronger than he looks, mind you!) all the way to your house
Then tuck you up in bed, but not before kissing you lightly on the tip of your nose
“Rest up lots and get your beauty sleep, m‘kay? It’s no fun when only one of us has the energy to play…”
You’d wake up the next morning to find both a takeaway of your favourite breakfast of hotcakes and whipped cream on your kitchen table, and him passed out in your living room
But you’d leave some for him and let him sleep

------------
An hour later and Nino had made the trip over to Adrien’s house, Alya and Marinette in tow. Their chatting had been less energetic than usual, no doubt because there wasn’t a single person among them who didn’t feel exhausted. A fact that wasn’t at all helped by the late hours that they were arriving at. It may have only been nineteen hundred hours, but when you’d only had a few hours of sleep each night for the past week, it made all the difference in the world.
Despite all that, they were determined. The very thought that they were willing to go through all this just to go further in his campaign was thrilling for Nino, and he didn’t want to let them down.
A wicked grin, looking out of place on him, stretched across his face. With the events he had planned for tonight’s session, he was sure they’d be awake in no time.
They entered Adrien’s room and saw the bounty of sugary treats and caffeine that their host had prepared. After some brief chit-chat, Nino got set up quickly and rolled right into the session. The longer he delayed the more likely it was that his players would fall asleep.
“The forest at last thins as you crest the top of a hill. From your vantage point, you can see the capital city on the horizon.” There were sighs of relief around the room.
“Finally! My character could definitely go for a proper bed after a week of roughing it,” Marinette said after taking a drink of pop.
“You’ll have to hurry, then. The sun is going to start sinking below the horizon. Unless you want to be stuck outside the city until morning, you’d better get moving.”
“My bard starts one last travel song as we rush over.” Adrien opened his phone, no doubt to a lyrics site and cleared his throat.
Alya quickly covered his mouth. “I do not have the time or patience to listen to another of your renditions of Take Me Home, Country Roads, Sunshine. Let’s just get to the city, alright?” Adrien’s eyes darted to Nino in a silent plea, but he simply shrugged.
“Sorry, dude. Babe has a point.”
Pouting, he closed his phone. Beside him, Marinette giggled and patted his back consolingly.
“You reach the city gates without any issue - no bandit or monster is stupid enough to get within stones throw of the capital, not with all the guards on patrol. They were a little suspicious to see you guys so late at night, but… two noble sigils, a bardic license, and my holy symbol put those dudes right at ease. There are still a few rooms open at the inn - how are you guys going to divvy up?”
A trio of blank stares looked back at him. He sighed.
“Each room costs money to rent. You don’t have a lot, so while you could get a private room for each of you, it’s probably better to room with someone else. So who is spending the night with who?”
“Dibs on the cleric!” Alya cried. She tapped her chin theatrically, “I guess that leaves you two together, right?”
“I- I guess so?” Adrien blinked, surprised at Alya’s sudden outburst. Marinette paled a little but nodded.
“Since you guys arrived so late, most of the rooms were already filled up and you had to make do with what you can get. When you finally find your rooms, they are across the inn from each other… and there is only one bed in each room.”
A slight blush, but neither Adrien nor Marinette were freaked out. Alya slumped in defeat - there wasn’t any roleplaying involved in sleeping after all. Unless they decided to do some method acting and have a sleepover.
“The four of us drift off to sleep, which was a totally great change of pace from the creepy woods that you’ve been sleeping in for a week now.” Nino punctuated his words with a yawn that proved contagious. “It was way late at night when suddenly… M, Adrien. Roll for perception.”
Adrien, naturally, rolled a one. Just when Nino was scared he’d accidentally killed them off, Marinette pulled through with a high roll. He breathed a sigh of relief.
“With your keen elven hearing, the creaking of the wooden floor boards was enough to jolt you from sleep. There is a glint of metal above you, and you feel a presence in the darkness. You have just a few seconds to react - what do you do?”
“I roll over!” Marinette blurts out, her eyes wide.
Nino nods. “Right, that puts you right on top of Adrien, who is now totally awake too. It was a good move, though - a knife plunges into the mattress, right where your neck had just been.”
All business now, Marinette asks, “What can I see?”
“Not much. Loose cloaks with hoods pulled up. Knives. Two people. The other person has stumbled back, probs spooked by your sudden movement.”
She taps her chin before her eyes widen again. “Wait, what about the others?! We have to go get them! Or at least get their help.” She shuffles through her character sheet. “Okay, um… I whisper to Adrien in Elvish ‘close your eyes’ and then I toss a flash flare thing at the guy.”
Nino rolls some saves - without the warnings, neither of them stood a chance. He looks up to see Marinette watching him with hopeful eyes. “You got ‘em, M. Now what?”
“I roll off the bed and try to take the guy’s knife.”
“You’ve got it and your turn ends there. The dudes are blinded, but it won’t be long before they’ve recovered. Adrien?”
“Can I cast a spell?”
“Not without your lyre, bro.”
“Fine, fine. I grab it off the bedside table.”
“And why do you think it’d be there?”
“...I’m a bard. Gotta be ready to play, first thing in the morning.” Adrien smirked.
Chuckling, Nino replied. “Alright, fair. What do you cast?”
Adrien stuck out a tongue as he thumbed through his spell list. His eyes lit up as he looked at Nino. “I cast summon monster one, and I summon the Good Boy.”
“Right,” Nino said as the others giggled. “So you’ve got your celestial dog next to you. I figure you want it to attack one of the dudes?”
To his surprise, Adrien shook his head. “No, I command him to go wake up the other two. Probably to go sit by their door and bark in a commanding angelic voice.”
The fight didn’t last long from there - the two of them probably would have been enough to deal with the assassins after they lost the element of surprise. But four against two made it a landslide victory.
“Even though you try your hardest, you weren’t able to catch either alive. One got stabbed and bled out and the other, well… hopefully the innkeeper will understand that it wasnt your fault that the window got broken.”
“Do they have anything on them?” Alya crossed her arms. “I get the feeling someone is after us.”
“You’re immediately proven right when you find a note in the dead guy’s pocket that reads, ‘Information about the Necromancer cannot reach the king. Dispose of the adventurers before they get their audience.’”
The party exchanged looks.
“Spooky,” Adrien said flatly. The others nodded in agreement.
“Do I recognize the handwriting or anything?” Marinette leaned forward, the gears in her head turning. “Remember, I am a court brat.”
“Nope. Looks like it was written deliberately poorly. You don’t know if you’d recognize it normally.”
“Time for the king?” Adrien perked up.
“Yup, it’s time for-” Nino was interrupted by a sharp knock at the door.
Adrien gulped. “Um… hello?”
Nathalie stepped into the room and narrowed her eyes at the dice and character sheets. Belatedly Nino remembered that Adrien usually claimed they were working on a project or homework during these sessions. “It is late. Your friends need to leave.”
Without a choice in the matter, they packed up and had the door shut behind them.
-------------
Nino’s fears were confirmed later that night during a discord chat.
Adrien Regreste: Sorry guys. Looks like we won’t be able to play at my house again Not for a while at least. :(
Lord DM: Don’t worry about it bro Had to happen eventually
Marinoodles: I’m so sorry! :( I hope you didn’t get in trouble because of us
Adrien Regreste: Nothing more than usual They aren’t threatening to keep me locked up at home So, you know Better than usual
Alya’ll Beware: That’s something at least R they going to let u hang out again?
Adrien Regreste: *shrugs* Probably. Anyway… Sorry to be a bummer. Night, everybody!
Marinoodles: Sweet dreams!
Alya’ll Beware: Night, kiddos.
Lord DM: Don’t let the assassins bite! ;) [Three thumbs down, one angry emoji]

The adventure begins!
Ninnaly woke up in cold sweat. Nightmares again, this time about a giant, black dragon attacking Helgen. Why Helgen? Why Dragons?! There haven’t been any dragons in centuries, if there were any to being with! Only stories for children.
She noticed the sun had start to rise, so she sat up in the bed and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes, stretched her stiff body and yawning. She grabbed her worktunic and headed out of her bedroom, and down the stairs. She threw some firewood on the firepit, and casted a simple fire-spell on it. “Being raised by a former battle-mage surely had it’s perks.” Ninnaly said quietly with a slight smile on her lips. She sat down and started heating some water for her tea and grabbed a piece of bread. “I will try to remember buying some food later, before I go home from work” she thought. “but knowing myself, I’ll probably forget.”.
Ninnaly sighed and dropped down some lavender, a few juniper berries cut in half and a few drops of honey in her cup and poured some water on top. She started thinking back to her time in Helgen. She hadn’t been there in four years, since she first arrived in Skyrim. The innkeeper Vilod was nice enough to let her stay for as long as she needed, in exchange for helping him with his inn. It was Vilod who had teached her how to make the Lavender and Juniper berry tea. The honey was her own idea, being a sucker for all things sweet. Well, almost everything. She disliked sweetrolls. They looked weird, and was too sweet. Taking a sip of her tea and relaxed a bit in her chair.
“I should take a week and go visit old Vilod” She thought. “Would be a nice surprise for the old fool”. Taking a sip of the tea. “But that will have to wait until next month. I have to travel to Falkreath and deliver some alchemy ingredients to ‘Grave Concoctions’.” she exhaled and took a big gulp from the cup. “After that, I should have enough coin to buy myself a horse. Which will make my job so much easier, and I can carry a greater shipment”.
She sat down the now empty cup, took her waterskin, coinpurse and headed out. She was greeted by an amazing weather, for once it wasn’t freezing cold and raining. The birds chirped and the town had started to move. Adrianne had already started to hammer away at some order from the Imperial Legion. The children of Whiterun was already running around and playing tag. A great day, with other words.
Ninnaly headed to Arcadia’s Cauldron, grabbed the supplies and headed towards the gate. The pouch was fairly lightweight for once. Unlike that time she had accepted a request to pick up a shipment for Adrianne last month, down in Riverwood. Adrianne had forgot to mention that Ninnaly was supposed to bring Ulfberth with her, for the extra muscle. Oh well. At least now on the way back from Falkreath she could maybe get a foot in the newly opened shop in Riverwood and get a customer there too.
The trip to Falkreath was awfully uneventful, only a small fight between the Legion and the Stormcloaks. Ninnaly helped heal the wounded Imperial soldiers after the battle had ended. Ninnaly, being a half-elf, she didn’t sympathize much with Ulfric and his thugs. The leader of the small group asked if she wanted to join the Legion, but answered that she didn’t quiet make the cut. Ninnaly was both skilled in swordsmanship and spellcasting, but not enough at the time. The captain said he would recommend her, which may give her some extra leverage. After healing the troops and sharing a meal and some stories, the captain asked where Ninnaly was heading. “To Falkreath, gotta deliver a shipment.” “Is that so?” he said. “We were heading there ourselves, and as you probably can tell, that there are Stormcloaks in the area.” “Do you want company, miss?” He asked politely. “Yes, on the condition you don’t call me miss again.” Ninnaly responded teasingly. Together with the small band of Legionnaires, Ninnaly continued towards Falkreath. They continued to share stories, but keeping their guards up.
Arriving to Falkreath, the group of Legionnaires went their own way towards the Jarls keep. And Ninnaly went to ‘Grave Concoctions’. Delivering the goods. She was amazed of just how many kinds of poisons and deadly concoctions there actually is.
Happily leaving the ‘Grave Concoctions’ with a heavier coin purse, she went to the local inn, Dead Man’s Drink, to rent a room for the slowly approaching night, and get something to eat. A plate of potatoes, leek and a steak was laying in front of her, as someone approached her, and asked to join her at the table. “If you are here to flirt, you can go where you came from.” she said mockingly. “Oh no no no, I’m not interested in that!” the person said, “I’m Lucien Flavius. Scientist, philosopher, amateur wizard, and somewhat of a musician... but that’s more of a hobby, I guess.”. Lucien continued. “I am looking for someone to guide me through Skyrim. For academic purposes mainly, but the province of Skyrim is so fascinating! The flora and fauna. All the ruins, both Dwemer and Nordic. It’s architecture and politics.. “ He interrupted himself. “But, I’m not much of a fighter. I know a few spells, and can just about swing a sword. I would of course pay you, more than enough! That of course, is if you are willing to part ways with your current work. Pay would be no issue, I’m coming from a wealthy family in Cyrodiil, so gold is of no shortage.”.
Ninnaly sat quiet for a while, nibbling on her grilled leek. “I will do it. I don’t have any more orders as of now, and I certainly could enjoy some time on the roads!” She said. “And it would be a perfect opportunity to visit Vilod back in helgen. It’s only a days travel from here.” She thought for herself. “Splendid! Would 300 Septims upfront be enough for now?” Lucien said excitingly. Ninnaly almost chocking on her leek. “And compensate you for anything useful to my research.” He continued, waiting for her answer. “Y-yes, that would be enough.” She answered. “I’m Ninnaly, by the way.” “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Lily! Let us get some rest for now and get on our way tomorrow!” “Wha.. No, Ninnaly.” She said, with a look of confusion on her face. “Don’t worry Lily! I just like giving people nicknames. Unless of course you have a problem with that.” Lucien said, with a hint of sadness in his voice. Ninnaly had never had a nickname. So she agreed to letting him call her Lily. Feeling a strange happiness about the ordeal she went into her rented room for some needed sleep. The following morning she stepped out into the main hall of inn and asked for some lavender tea and a piece of bread. “Good morning, Lily!” Lucien said happily upon seeing her entering the inn. “I have arranged a carriage to take us where ever we want to go. How does that sound?” “Sounds great, I’ll just eat breakfast and then we can travel to Whiterun. I need some things from my house, if that’s okay?” “Certainly! I have heard about the alchemy shop in Whiterun. I would like to visit it to buy some supplies, so that’s perfect.” Lucien said. After breakfast they left Falkreath for Whiterun. The trip was uneventful, it was spent getting to know each other better. Lucien came from a wonderful home in Cyrodiil, just as Ninnaly. So they were excited they had that in common. Arriving in Whiterun, Ninnaly was greeted with hugs by Lars Battle-Born and Mila Valentina. Her “best friends” according to themselves. “Hey guys, where’s Braith? She got in trouble again?” Ninnaly said with a smile, but also concern. “No, she’s sick. Just a cold, so she wanted to stay home today.” “I see, let me just get a few things, and meet me outside Braith’s okay?” Ninnaly smiled. “Friends of yours?” Lucien said with a smile on his lips. “My ‘best’ friends!” Ninnaly responded. “I usually play tag with them once a week. They really appreciate it. Most the adults are busy doing their work, and don’t have the time. But they like that someone can take their time to play with them.” “I see,” Lucien said. “so where do you live?” “Right here!” she said, unlocking the door to Breezehome. It had cost her a lot of Septims to buy it, and to add furniture to it. But it had been worth it. “I’m just going to get my sword and bow. Will you be a dear and take some lavender, a few juniper berries and the bottle of honey from the table in the back?” “Of course!” Lucien responded. “What is it for?” “It’s for Braith, one of the kids here in the town. A few snips of lavender, two juniper berries and a spoon of hone-” “For tea? Sounds awfully sweet if you ask me.” Lucian interrupted. “Yes, for tea. But it works wonders, and gets a sick child up on it’s feet in no time!” Ninnaly said while walking down the stairs. Now donning a short sword and a bow in her back. After exiting the house, Lucien was directed to ‘Arcadia’s Cauldron’ and Ninnaly went to Braith’s house. Saffir opened the door and greeted them. “Oh Ninnaly, how good to see you!” Saffir said, and gave her a quick hug. “Braith has gotten such a cold you could almost mistake her for a man!” she giggled. “I see. good thing I brought my miracle tea for her then!” Ninnaly answered.
After giving Braith the tea and some chit chat with Saffir, she headed out. Telling Lars and Mila to keep an eye on her house while she was away. Promising to bring them a gift in return.
Lucien stood by the gate and waited for her, and waved when he saw Ninnaly.
“All good? Is Braith okay?” He asked. “She will be. Just need to rest until tomorrow and she should be up in no time.” “Great! So, whereto now?” “Helgen.” Ninnaly said. “To Helgen we go.” -> Be sure to join in on the adventures of Ninnaly over at twitch to take part in her development, and decide her future!
*Edit: Corrected a few mistakes. cuz.. I’m a pepega.
