Yanqing and Yunli Appreciation Post
Keep Reading cut due to 2.4 spoilers~ (also relatively long-ish post)
These two bounce off each other so well! As a writer, it feels so satisfying to see their characters shine through the quest and the event in the way their interactions highlight them. So I'm gonna use this space to ramble about it!
My previous post pretty much talked about it already, but Yanqing!!! My son!!! I was quite worried that any potential arc for him would be shoved down the road or to the side due to the scale HSR has, but the game's been actually holding up to his ongoing arc. As a result, at least to me, he's come through as one of the best written/developed characters on the Xianzhou so far.
The nature of the length of the updates lets what we get in previous quests settle in for a long while, and considering the mentioned of flow of time in-game, Yanqing's had the time to think and develop as a person. The fact that so many players have had their view and opinion of him finally turn around in this quest is a testament to that. We get to see more facets of him, as in, doing his job and the responsibilities of doing so, and how his insecurities are mentioned in a main quest for all to see. He's constantly referencing others and his past encounters. You can tell that Jing Yuan raised him with his manner and approach to things, which is highlighted by the contrast to Yunli (will get to that soon).
His position as a child soldier has made him mature faster, be quiet even when he's been wronged (filial piety/saving face (aka thank you person on Reddit who makes the banger character Yanqing (and other characters in general) appreciation posts)), take a step back and have to be able to read the room (though, reasonably, he doesn't catch on all the time), and much, much more. The fact that other official content has described him as being more worried about diplomacy and all that. He doesn't have the luxury to be as carefree or brash for someone his age.
There's a lot to unpack there still, even with the development he's had now and that's good! If the Hoyo writing team was wild enough, it'd be cool to see them address the grayness of his role and Jing Yuan's mindset in raising him as he did (We love Dad-Yuan and he loves his son dearly no question, but it'd be so interesting to explore his flaws/mistakes in this perspective!).
Now onto Yunli.
I'm saying straight off the bat, I'm irritated by her!
And that's a good thing!
Her being annoying or bratty or irritating doesn't automatically make her a badly written character! She only would become one if they don't do anything with her, and HSR most probably will, and she should be given the same room to develop in her own arc.
She acts like her age, and she doesn't have the same pressures as Yanqing does. Just like how you can see Jing Yuan in Yanqing, you can see Huaiyan in Yunli, if anything he says is to go by. She's tempremental and outspoken to a fault, and based on the way how quickly Huaiyan relented when she talked back, you can tell that Huaiyan isn't as strict/stern with her to give her a sense of being humble.
I had this thought that she's technically what the general fandom viewed Yanqing as initially, and I'm not saying that as a 100% thing, by the way. But like by some traits and the vibes. She, of course, has a lot more nuance that will be explored at one point or another.
But back on topic, she's a foil. They represent two different approaches and lifestyles and can clearly learn from each other. Her inconsideration of the fact that she's on the Luofu but enforcing Zhuming practices (which I noticed people were upset by, and same; which I imagine is the point), her bluntness to no matter who she's talking to—there's a lot to work with here.
Just like with their swordplay, Yanqing could learn from her mental strength while Yunli can learn from his focused speed and defense. He can learn to regain a more firm grasp of his recently found purpose while she can learn to mature and take in her surroundings and be more thoughtful in that front.
Another interesting note is that where we are with Yanqing currently is in the middle of his arc, we've had the time to see him take a long route of struggle to get to this point, exacerbated by irl players views of him. He's in the middle of his growth and we've had since 1.0 to get to know him. But with Yunli, she was introduced very recently, so we're technically at the "beginning" of her character arc. In a way, Yunli now highlights how far Yanqing has come and changed, and in a way Yanqing now is a potential show for the arc that Yunli can have (not being the exact same as him of course).
I think the idea with these two is that they develop to be more balanced. Balance is such an important thing, especially in Chinese culture (Daoism (Yin-Yang), etc.), and 2.4 has shown how much potential they have to make for amazing character arcs.
It's cool that while they have such similar base traits, they're so different from each other. Calling Yunli a female Yanqing or Yanqing a male Yunli is simply outright incorrect. Their backgrounds, upbringings, ideals, swordstyles, perspectives, and positions in life are so distinct. I'm looking forward to their futures!

"What they did was wrong, I'm not denying that, but I can understand why they tried to revive Baiheng. She was their friend and she died saving Imbibitor Lunae. If I had the means to do something similar and the General died saving me, I would be very tempted to try and bring him back." Dangerous words, and also not really the same. Baiheng had indeed been Yingxing and Dan Feng's friend, but they were all adults while Yanqing is still a kid and Jing Yuan is the closest he has to a father. Which child wouldn't want to bring their parent back if they died?

I love that you can pinpoint exactly the moment in which Jing Yuan steals that piece (and which one) from the board in his trailer

between yanqing and jing yuan, there are lots of dead flags. mhy doesn't not even just put them on jing yuan but they saw yanqing and went why the fuck not.
and jing yuan's death would be a tragedy but it would also be one that is inevitable. in a way, jing yuan is dead inside. too many hours working and fucking around with the bureaucracy and hierarchy at work... he is at a stagnation and he knows it. and after a stagnation lies what? either growth or decay.
and jing yuan is old. growth is not impossible but it is unlikely.
yanqing's, on the other hand, is in his youth. he has an entire future before him. his death would be a waste, of talent, of youth. and exactly that is why it would also be a tragedy. like imagine someone who shines so bright, who has an promising future ahead and they just... die. it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. a sense of regret, one could say.
yanqing is... underestimating a lot of things which can come and bite him in the ass... and also might lead to his death.

this man is ruining my life. somehow this is 1.6k.
minors and ageless blogs dni. you will be blocked.
jing yuan x f!reader, pwp, sex pollen/aphrodisiac, unprotected sex.
Tumblr media
you stare at jing yuan.
he meets your gaze, the corner of his lips flickering up, a guttering candle flame.
"you were what?"
"poisoned," he says cheerfully. "lady bailu confirmed it."
"so you decided to die in my foyer?"
"apparently it's mild."
"what a shame."
"so cruel."
"why are you here, jing yuan?" you ask.
"ah," he says. "it appears that the poison has...a few side effects. there's a possibility that i could be compromised."
you tilt your head. "compromised?"
"i am rather susceptible to certain stimuli at the moment. there's a possibility that—in the correct circumstances—i could give away a few things that should not be divulged."
you study him. he stays smiling, but he shifts in place minutely. he's flushed, a pale pink the color of the dawn in two spots high on his cheeks, and there's a thin layer of sweat gathering at his temples. it's starting to darken his hair to the deeper silver of the artificial moon.
"jing yuan," you say slowly. "what, exactly, are the side effects?"
"similar to a strong aphrodisiac."
"similar? or exactly like one?"
he huffs out a laugh, but it's strained. "astute as always," he says. "exactly like one."
you can't help but glance down.
he's hard.
heat suffuses your cheeks, burns hot like a supernova. you look back up at him immediately. his golden eyes are gleaming, his pupils dilating, a black hole devouring the sun.
shameless, you think.
"what do you want from me?" you ask bluntly.
"nothing untoward. just your company."
"i'm not sure i believe you."
"i just need to be with someone who won't take advantage," he says. "and i don't want to expose yanqing to this."
you sigh. "fine," you say, beckoning him deeper into your house. "come on."
the two of you settle in your living room. jing yuan sighs, closing his eyes and tilting his head back into the cushions, exposing the long line of his throat. the sweat is beading more heavily at his brow now, shining in the afternoon light, and you gnaw at your lower lip.
you pick your book back up as his breath evens out, his broad chest rising and falling with it. his brow furrows more deeply; the set of his lips looks pained.
you put your book down.
"does it—"
"it's merely uncomfortable," he says, cracking open an eye. "please don't worry about it."
you chew on your lip again. "there has to be something i can do."
he pauses for a moment. "i don't want to ask something of you that you're not willing to give."
"you won't know until you ask."
"i'd like to hold you," he says, shifting slightly. "nothing more."
it stokes the heat in your cheeks; they feel like they're on fire, burning merrily. the usual tease in his voice is gone. somehow, it bares something in you, flays you open. your traitorous heart flutters.
without a word, you stand. jing yuan raises his head, watching with interest as you cross to him. you stand in front of him for a moment, dithering like a moth, before you sink down next to him.
it takes a moment to settle into a comfortable position, but you end up with his arms wound around you as you lean back against his broad chest. you're not quite in his lap, but you're close.
he presses his cheek against you. "thank you," he says, his voice rumbling through you.
"don't mention it," you say, cheeks still suffused with heat. "really. please don't."
he chuckles, arms tightening around you. "shouldn't i be the one embarrassed?"
"nothing ever embarrasses you."
he laughs outright at that. you squirm as the sound vibrates through you; it sends a gust of damp, hot air against the sensitive shell of your ear. jing yuan is warm against you, the gentle heat of sunbaked stones, and you're not immune to the hard press of his body against you.
you shift again, settling back against him further. you take in a sharp breath as his cock—now pressed flush against the small of your back—twitches. his arms tighten around you as his breath hitches. his fingers sink into the softness of you before he lets go.
"perhaps this was a bad idea," he says, sounding strained. you're not sure he knows that one of his thumbs is stroking along the waistband of your pants, just shy of the skin beneath.
"maybe," you agree, voice breathy.
he shifts; it brings you entirely into his lap. you take a deep breath.
"tell me to stop," he murmurs, pressing close and nipping at the shell of your ear. his cock throbs against you.
you take hold of one of his big hands. you bring it up to your breast; it takes only the slightest flex of your fingers for him to cup it, his palm brushing against your hardening nipple.
"i don't want to," you admit.
he squeezes at your tit. it sends sparks skittering up your nerves. he slides his hand down and plucks at your nipple. the sensation is blunted by your shirt, but it arrows through you anyway.
"i'll struggle to control myself," he warns, his other hand sneaking between your legs to palm your dampening cunt. it presses the seam of your pants against you. you chase the feeling with a roll of your hips.
"good," you say, and that's all it takes for the world to spin as he flips you beneath him, pinning you down against the couch as he slips between your legs. you lift your hips to press up against his cock, and he groans before dipping down to kiss you.
he's soft with you for a breath, and then he devours you, all teeth and tongue, spit starting to drip messily down your chin. he shoves your shirt up over your tits and tugs down the cups of your bra until your breasts spill out.
before you can even protest the rough treatment of your favorite bra, he's ducking down to close his hot mouth around a nipple. you hiss out a breath and feel him grin against your skin. he suckles until your nipple is peaked and hard, occasionally grazing his teeth against the soft skin that surrounds it.
you fist a hand in his fluffy hair. he groans as you tug at it, his hands scrambling at the fastening of your pants. he nips at you until you raise your hips for him, letting him push down your pants until they're tangled around your ankles.
he's on you again in an instant, kissing you with deep intent, stealing your breath away, as if it wasn't his already. one big hand slips between your legs to cup your cunt.
jing yuan drags his fingers over the damp spot on your underwear. "this wet for me?" he asks.
"says the one who was hard when he showed up at my doorstep."
"true," he says, and then he descends to your tits again, sucking and biting until you're arching up into him with breathy little whines.
he pushes aside your underwear and sinks one big finger into you. you flutter around the intrusion and he curses under his breath before biting hard between your breasts, making you yelp. he pushes another finger into you almost immediately.
you tug at his hair again and he moans against your skin, the rich sound vibrating through you. your voice breaks on his name as he sinks a third finger into you, thrusting hard and curling his fingers until he finds your sweet spot, making you spasm around him.
"so good," he breathes. "so good for me, that's it."
he kisses you as he pulls his fingers out; you can feel him undoing his belt and then his pants, his knuckles brushing against you.
and then he's in you, and you sink your fingers into his back from the stretch, from the way he opens you so well on his cock.
"jing yuan!"
"you can take it," he soothes, brushing a gentle kiss against your lips even as he snaps his hips in a devastating thrust. the embers of your pleasure begin to spark into a fire, start to run hot through your veins.
he kisses you harshly as he starts to fuck you hard, each long stroke reaching deeply enough in you to make you keen. he presses down on you with each roll of his hips, pinning you completely, until all you can do is take him.
he sinks his teeth into the junction of your neck and shoulder when you tug at his hair again. you mewl at the lightning strike of pain, but it melts away into heat, stoking the fire burning inside you.
you gasp as he fucks you without abandon, each thrust of his hips heavy, bullying inside of you. one of his hands drops to your clit and your voice breaks on his name.
he grates out your name when he cums, his diligent fingers circling harder on your clit until you're shuddering with it, heat racing through you like a forest fire, leaving ashes in its wake, like a landscape forever altered.
when your orgasm fades away, jing yuan kisses you softly. he teases at your lips with his tongue; nips at your lower lip until you bite back. then he rolls his hips again, and your breath catches.
he hasn't softened at all.
he gazes down at you, sweat-soaked, his pupils dilated until there's just a thin rim of gold around them, the sunrise against the horizon.
he fucks in and out of you until you hiss at the way it sparks down your nerves like lightning, pleasure kissed with pain.
"can you keep going?" he asks, drawing his tongue up the line of your jaw. you tighten around him.
"yes," you say, and his eyes flash with something predatory.
"good," he purrs. "because i'm not sated yet."

I can see Jing Yuan pulling off shits like "I haven't been inside my wife for a day I feel like I could get a mara struck😩"
It might be a joke, but to some officials it was serious. They are MORTIFIED.
So they make sure you, his darling, his wife, his lover, his everything, give him his daily cockwarming or even better, letting him fuck you every time he gets the chance. It became a common occurrence for Bailu to visit Jing Yuan's residence 2 or even 3 times a week because of how hard the general has been fucking you every day (hell, she might as well stay at the mansion).
The only time he will stop breeding your eggs out is when you are finally pregnant. He will become hapi hapi guy, willingly take the suppressant to suppress his libido so his baby won't get hurt if he were to fuck you during pregnancy. But in exchange for having your pussy no longer bullied, you will get nausea, back pain, and so many things altogether.
At least after the baby is born, the amount of times he needs to fuck you a day is reduced as now he likes to spend more of his time with his baby.
Yet be ready, when the baby is big enough to even go training with Yanqing, Jing Yuan will look at you and be like; "another baby?🥺"
Tumblr media
-CW: yandere, dub-con, breeding, pregnancy, humiliation
Wait…it's so humiliating that the officials arranged for us to be fucked by Jing Yuan…I love this 😣😩🥺💦👉👈 Like you knew you were inevitably going to be creampied by Jing Yuan… but now you were being fucked for a greater good…?
Jing Yuan…maybe just jokingly complaining about not having you by his side - you, his destined, only spouse and lover. The seat of divine foresight cannot cease for a moment. Although the general does not have to decide or be present for everything, the workload is still a heavy and irresistible burden, like some tangled threads. Sometimes the general can only give you a holographic kiss on the forehead and go back to work. Once, after a meeting of high-level officials in Xianzhou, Jing Yuan had a faint smile on his lips as he listened to how the officials responded to people's mara and their greetings to the general. General sighed, shrugged and said.
"I haven't been inside my wife for a day I feel like I could get a mara struck😩"
The officials were shocked by Jing Yuan's outspokenness. Remembering how the general was rumored to be doting on and attached to his wife, they all avoided his eyes in embarrassment and changed the subject. After Jing Yuan left, they slowly realized that this was a serious matter related to Xianzhou's foundation. Jing Yuan is one of the seven Arbiter-Generals. If the general gets mara struck now, who else has the talent to succeed on Luofu? Fu Xuan is indeed talented, but She is still… young and not as experienced as him.
Generally speaking, as a general's wife, you are not supposed to be present at the seat of divine foresight while he is at work to avoid distracting him. But you…shouldn't you have such an obligation…? To comfort your husband?
You don't know when, but you find that you are often sent to the seat of divine foresight or teleported to any planet where Jing Yuan is located. You are like a little hamster that is soft, sweet, and can be carried around, put in the general's pocket. Sometimes he wants to be considerate and give you private space, but in the end he can't help but want to bury his head in your chest and rub it. Jing Yuan really can't let you leave.
The officials studied your schedule and it was all sorted. According to Xianzhou's time and calendar, there won't be a day that goes by that you don't get fucked by Jing Yuan's dick. If there is a schedule mistake, they are remiss.
How humiliating was it to be wheeled in front of the General to be fucked…? You may have your own ideals and hobbies, but these must be put behind the daily schedule of "warming your husband's cock." You stood aside uncomfortably, listening to Jing Yuan correcting documents and giving instructions to his assistants. Your private parts heat up due to the uneasy waiting, knowing what you will face after his work is temporarily over…
Sometimes, Jing Yuan just pretends not to care. With no change in your expression, the general grabbed you and pressed you against his cock to keep you warm for several hours, until you burst into tears uncontrollably, begging him to move even a little bit... What’s more, the general even had a special room, put you there, and tie your legs apart and lock your hands on the head of the bed. All you need to do is open your legs and wait for conception...Those balls press and slap against your swollen petals, loudly, cream swirling inside.
Bailu was too pure to understand what was happening. She just checks on you. She thought that pregnancy was about returning to Vidyadhara's egg or something.
Until…you are conceived, and a little life is growing inside you. Jing Yuan sometimes thinks about using artificial wombs or other technological alternatives. Witnessing your nausea and discomfort, Jing Yuan felt really uncomfortable and asked for leave to take care of you (even though he was the one who impregnated you…), but at the same time… Jing Yuan really wanted to taste the sweet milk flowing from your breasts. … He can only suppress his desires. He knows he has to be a responsible, trustworthy husband to you.
After the baby came into the world, both Jing Yuan and Yanqing were overjoyed. Their small palms wrapped around Yanqing's fingertips. They inherited that beautiful white hair, the most striking appearance feature, but some look like you. They waddle and explore the world with their palms outstretched. Looking at the baby, Yanqing and you, Jing Yuan's face shines with pride and happiness.
As your baby grows up, Jing Yuan ravages you less frequently… But don't forget that after Jing Yuan fell in love, he decided on the name of the third baby in the family. With earnest hope, he caressed you again. "Another baby…? 🥺"
At the same time, Jing Yuan's health report is as usual, even better than before, without any signs of mara. The plan worked.

His darling, his love, everything you do attracts him to you. That kind nature and sweet personality mixed in with your little to no social cues.
You always ask questions—not that he minds—just seeing your expression turns into confusion one when you don’t understand something like the little birds that land in his hair.
Brushing through his hair, just to get bitten by a small little bird in his hair. You completely stop and look at his hair in confusion before pulling out the bird
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
“Ow!”
You yelp, and you snatch your hand away from his hair, looking at your finger to see a little red bite mark on your finger.
Looking back at Jing Yuan's hair to see a bird pop out…you look at the bird in confusion—not anger, just confusion—“Are you alright?”
Before answering, you just grab the little bird from his hair, to hold in your palms, looking down at it with blank eyes.
He just lets out a light laugh, seeing your expression when looking at the little bird. “How did that get there?”
𝒴𝒶𝓃𝓆𝒾𝓃𝑔
When the general doesn’t have time to train with him you do instead, which is why it frustrates and confuses him so much!
Honestly, you basically have no knowledge of social cues at all! You're like a child! Even he had to help you understand what people say yet your skills could match even the general!
Of course, he knows not to judge people and assume they can’t do certain things, he just finds you so odd, even with slight cold behaviour you still care for him, give him tips on his sword work, and even go shopping with him.
He feels bad for being frustrated at you when you do so much for him.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
“Are you alright?”
“AHH—“
Yanqing immediately jumps off of the bench in shock, staring at you with wide eyes yet you notice his hand was injured—loose bandages wrapped around that he didn’t have the chance to tie them up.
Sitting down on the bench and motioning him to sit back down next to you. When he does, you take his wrist and begin to take off those bandages and rewrap his wrist. Observing everything hand the injury looked to be on his wrist but he was bandaging his entire hand.
“You twisted your wrist, you shouldn't be covering your entire hand instead it should just be your wrist.”
He just silently looks at his wrist while you fix it up for him. “Understood…” you hear a murmur leave his lips.
“It's fine everyone makes small mistakes like these.”

[gender neutral! reader] [child 7-9! reader] [platonic]
[warnings; implied for reader to be heavily sick often (natasha)]
a/n; *smacks my head* this baby holds loads of child!reader ideas, thanks to their family being the way their family is. good ol' trauma. you didn't pick any characters in particular other than just non-express crew characters. hope you enjoy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it's a fucking miracle that you're even standing next to this man. kafka just had to give you to him. luckily, blade is less violent than he looks. and luckily for you, you hold no fear.
"you look ugly like that." you point at him, your tiny finger inching a little too close to his eye. "why do you look like that?" kafka stifles a laugh as she watches from afar.
"i can't believe i want to punt a child." he mutters. "i don't know, why do you look like that?" he retaliates.
"look like what? ms. kafka says i'm cute!" your hand goes limp to rest on your lap.
"you are anything but cute, you devil spawn."
you gasped, "ms. kafka! blade is being mean!" you get up to run to the woman, who is laughing silently. "he called me a devil spawn... whatever that means!"
"it means you're tiny. and stupid." blade says, watching as you hide behind kafka's leg.
"no, you're stupid!" you stick your tongue out at him.
"you little sh-"
"curse jar!"
Tumblr media
"yannie!" you cheered loudly.
"y/n!" he cheers back. you run to him as he picks you up. "do you want to walk around today?" you nodded. "let's go get some allowance from the general first!"
"jing!" you and yanqing arrive at the general's office.
"if it isn't our little cloud knight." jingyuan watches as the young blonde puts you down to go run at him. "i could only wonder what you are doing here with yanqing."
"i wan' to explore with yanqing!" you climb up jingyuan's legs as he watches with a fond gaze.
"is that so?"
you nodded, "but me 'n yan need help." jingyuan looks at you confused before turning to look at yanqing.
"we need some money, general..." jingyuan raises an eyebrow, glancing at you who shows him puppy eyes. and then yanqing tries to play off his ask with an innocent grin.
jingyuan can't help but sigh, "for a lieutenant and a little cloud knight, you two sure are sly." he smiles gently.
Tumblr media
"you think we can annoy serval?" an impish grin starts to grow on your face.
"we really shouldn't do that." gepard chides you. you groan.
"but i'm so bored! she's got cool ga- gad-gets."
"gadgets."
"yeah! i wanna see them! i wanna watch serval work!"
"she's probably busy, y/n." you huffed as you struggled in gepard's arms, "stop it!"
"what can we do then?" you pouted. "what do you wanna do?"
awkward silence...
"my idea is better! let's go see big sis!" you tug on his clothes as if it would anything to make him move faster.
"how about we make something for serval? wouldn't that be fun?"
"hm? making something like a gad-gets?"
"gadget. yeah, maybe something like that. or we can draw something for her, and she can put it up somewhere."
"yeah, let's do that!" you cheered, walking alongside gepard and putting your hand in his.
Tumblr media
it's no doubt that your parents would leave you in the care of the nicer-est nurse in town (your words, not hers). even if you were a not so amazing state, you can't help but still be happy.
"i think you're a superhero, ms. natasha. i wanna make a story about you!" you've always been a creative soul, it was one of the few things you can do with being bedridden for days on end. writing was a favorite. but you really liked making comics.
"i'm just doing my job, dear. i think you should make a story about yourself." natasha speaks with fondness as she distracts you from getting a shot. "you're just as strong as a hero." her voice is bittersweet but you don't notice it.
"how about i make a story about us? we can be the best-est heroes in the world!" you beamed at your own genius suggestion. "i can be your sidekick!"
"i would love to see that story someday." she smiles. "i know it will be amazing as always." she places a band aid where your shot was taken. her thumb brushes over it once, then again. "i'll even put it up by your bed. framed and everything."
she just hopes you live to see another day.

𝖌𝖊𝖓𝖗𝖊: fluff
𝖌𝖊𝖓𝖉𝖊𝖗: male
𝖙𝖎𝖙𝖑𝖊: interruptions
𝖕𝖆𝖗𝖎𝖓𝖌: jing yuan x m!reader (+ yanqing and sushang)
"Did you come here for training or did you come here because you enjoy resting on my thighs so much?" Jing Yuan asks you. You were resting your head on your beloved's lap after your training with your student, sushang. You ended training early to see your beloved.
"The second part and I also wanted to see you again because I miss you." You mumbled, keeping up a stoic expression.
"You're good at hiding such emotions, but you're not best at stopping your tail from wagging." Jing Yuan chuckled as he glanced at your fox tail wagging around.
"W…whatever…" you blushed as you leaned up off the male's lap and wrapped your arms around his waist, pulling him close. "No one is watching, I want my kiss."
"Hahaha~ You're so clingy." The general smiled as you slowly leaned in for a kiss, but you were interrupted.
"Eh? Master [Y]? What are you doing here with the general?" Sushang questions, "I thought you said you were going to go grab some drinks."
"You lied to your student?" The white haired male inquired.
"It was to get her distracted…" you sweatdropped.
"Hey! General! You lied to me! You're only doing this on purpose, aren't you?!" Yanqing exclaimed.
"Hey…you two are really close to each other. Were you about to kiss?" Sushang narrowed her eyes on you two.
"..."
"Wait a minute! Don't tell me you two are dating! No wonder why the training was cut short!" The blonde whined.
"Is that the reason you two lied to us because you wanted to keep your relationship a secret?" The brunette haired girl questioned.
"My apologies, Sushang. Just keep this as a secret and I'll buy you some treats." You told the girl.
"Some treats, eh…?" Sushang smirked. "I want a day off."
"You're off for today. Run free, little birdie." You shooed the girl away.
"Strale, please." Sushang held her hand out.
"Eh…?"
"General! You earned me another training!"
"Ah. My apologies. Maybe tomorrow." Jing Yuan sweatdropped.
"But I want it today!" Yanqing pouted.
"I'll give you strale for the swords if you leave us be. We needed some alone time together, you know…?" The white haired male handed a bag of strale to the blonde.
"I can?! Thanks general! Have fun!"
You handed the 15 year old girl some of your savings from your pocket, letting her run off with Yanqing, "Kids…"
"Just let kids be kids. Let us continue before we are interrupted." Jing Yuan chuckled, cupping your face. Unable to hold back, you interlocked your lips with the white haired male's lips. Jing Yuan wrapped his arms around your neck as you both lay down on the ground.
Jing Yuan pulled away, "...Shouldn't we tell them that we're married?"
"We'll tell them later. I'm still hungry, you know~" you lick your lips. "It's not mating season yet, but I'm up for it~"
The white haired male blushed, "Let's take this home in bed."
"I couldn't wait, let's do it now."
"W-what if they come back?"
"Don't worry, they won't be back until tomorrow~"

I don't talk about Dan Heng enough despite him being my favorite so I'm gonna fix that while I'm in my post about HSR mode lol
His character development!!! I love how much more open he is about his love and care for the Astral Express.
My guy openly expresses how much he wants to be with them and protect them! They're his "once-in-a-lifetime treasures"!!!
He was so ready to summon the literal Xianzhou Luofu the moment he felt his comrades were in danger and had to have Boothill, of all people, talk him down from doing it. His dream in Penacony was that he got to be with the Astral Express forever (he's just like me fr). And despite the Shackling Prison being the place that gave him trauma, he was apologetic that we had to be there and EVEN GENTLY PATTED OUR HAND
Tumblr media
(Which I get a bit sad when I watch people play the quest and they don't talk to him when they get to this part ToT)
LIKE BRO, YOU NEED TO BE THE ONE THAT'S TAKEN OUT OF HERE! YOU DON'T HAVE TO COMFORT ME, I'LL BE COMING BACK HERE LATER ANYWAY ToT LOOK OUT FOR YOURSELF TOO DAN HENGGGGGG
He's also so encouraging! When he tells Sunday that he isn't a bad person so he shouldn't be held back by the past and when he's so openly supportive of Yanqing and compliments him on his drive when he he fought him and Blade! He's. Just. So. Sweet!!!
Dan Heng, you are the love of my life, and I want you to be happy

Ooo i just got called out by that (hook still at Lv.1 at e3)
Well, in the case of Hook, she thinks (and this is reinforced by all the adults) that the Aeon of Fate wants to keep her safe! Because the Aeon knows best, and obviously, this is one of those moments.
While some of the older followers are more saddened by this, Asta and other followers that have responsibilities are thankful that they were given the strength and use it to do their duties more easily.
Teens like Clara, Yanqing, and HuoHuo, however....
Tumblr media
Silence falls upon the teens as they take a break from training on the Astral express, seeing the adults come back from another successful adventure with their grace, the faint feeling of divinity that enveloped the train leaving it soon after they settled in.
Yanqing looks over at the other teens in envy as they talk about the small adventures they sometimes joined their Aeon on.... Lynx looked particularly pleased as she recounted a valiant fight against a silvermane commander that she participated in.
It had only been a few hours since she became a vessel of Fate, quickly gaining power, and only a few of them could imagine of, unless you were Qingque or Pela, though the latter had confessed that her growth had been stopped as soon as a certain member of the Nameless reawakened his Vidyadhara powers.
Still, surrounded by other vessels that were younger than him, though being a teenager himself by the Xianzhou standards still stung. Was he not strong enough? Not capable enough? He knew that Sushang felt the same, but she still had something that he envied, she was at least a vessel with multiple glowing eidolons. He wasn't even chosen.
.
.
.
The Aeon was there when he fought the Stellaron hunters, when he fought Jingliu and he still lost, despite how their grace had done their damndest to help him triumph, guiding Pollux as she fought him under the control of that wicked woman, Kafka... were those battles, tests?
Did the others have to face such things before they became vessels? Has he failed in the eyes of Fate? Was it the will of Fate that he could never be chosen? He sat there polishing his swords as doubt continued to swirl in his mind, he has to get better, for himself, and to prove that he was worthy enough for the Aeon to look upon him as a vessel worth relying on. The deep-seeded fear of abandonment rearing its ugly head the longer he dwelled on it.
He needed to train, get his mind off of it.
Silver Wolf was getting bored, her games had gotten boring, and having no part in Elio's current script aside, she had to start from scratch, thanks to Herta and Screwllum* removing her accounts... along with the fact that she wasn't chosen as a vessel,
It shouldn't bother her. This was fine, even Kafka wasn't chosen, the gacha didn't roll in her favour and all that. But it did sting, especially when Blade became a vessel, one of the main vessels, always returning back to base healed and with an expression of peace, unnerving to those who hadn't spent any length of time around him.
Sending a hologram to the Astral express, she had the chance to talk to Pollux, to connect to their Aeon before the faint divinity she could feel faded away.
She could never get used to it, the feeling of something watching you from every angle, seeing you, and through you. As the 'hacker', being unable to hide behind a screen, a hologram never sat right with her... she would only show herself when she wanted to cause chaos, or something really peaked her interest.
But lately, it seemed like the world was shifting again. The way that the other vessels moved seemed to be more.... lethargic, like their god had gotten tired and bored of them, it was unnerving to see the usually chipper and smiling members of the Astral express like this.
Until she found out the reason for this development, their god had encountered a lull in interest, much of the content had become tedious, boring, and much like a chore. But it would be alright, surely this game world would expand and bring their gaze back to her.
Just need to wait for the next update.
-
Clara always strived to be a good kid, caring for everyone in the vagrants' camp, making sure all the machines were in working condition and such.
It was always her dream to have everyone get along, no fighting or resentment, so she was overjoyed when the Aeon set their sights on her home, maybe they could really help unite everyone, sure they fought with Mr. Svarog, but it was a misunderstanding!
And after they came to help life had been slowly improving for everyone in Belebog.
They no longer had to fight with the other miners, and they could finally see the sunlight, feeling the breeze from the overworld. As a whole new world of opportunities opened up for her and the people of the Underworld.
But as she saw the others become blessed, blessed to help, blessed to make a difference in their slowly recovering planet, she felt empty.
Why was she not allowed the same? Was she not good enough? Had her efforts to help those she cared about lacking in the eyes of their Aeon?
Even if the other vagrants and robots assured her of the contrary, that seed of doubt would stay in her heart, taking root and slowly growing.
Nourished by the passing of time, as their Aeon moved to help other worlds, akin to a wound left to fester.
She hoped that one day she would be good enough to be seen by their god.
All she could do was wait.

angst? me? haha... 2.4k words of it actually c:
cw: slight sensory deprivation (blindfold/mention of going non-verbal)
Tumblr media
you still remember the first time it happened. how could you forget? the sheer panic and rapid thoughts racing through your mind when the itch in your throat had produced a single, golden ginkgo leaf from your tongue.
in the stages of grief, it states there are five. you beg to differ since you spent so long staring at the yellow leaf in your palm for so long your eyes felt irritated from the lack of blinking. you couldn't just deny that something was so very wrong when the evidence had come out of you.
you didn't feel anger either. confusion, fear, the deepest pit you've ever experienced in your gut? that's what you felt, but not anger. this was something that was bound to happen one day if you lived long enough to see it, so it shouldn't anger you anyway. still, that doesn't mean that that stage was skipped.
no, jing yuan felt it for you.
jing yuan hated yaoshi, the adundance. he loathes them from the deepest, darkest and most tainted part of his soul. the loathing he felt no doubt could even be felt by the continuously passed on entity of his Lightning-Lord. it was a sick twist of fate that he had been with you when you coughed up that leaf, stood so closely within your personal proximity when your life started ticking away from him.
jing yuan was not a loud man when it came to his negative emotions. he- in fact- made a bad habit of keeping most of them internalized and kept solely to himself. may haps he would tell you or yanqing that which would plague him to the point of bursting- but those rare moments only happened well away from the public eye of the luofu residents. no, jing yuan is a man who radiates anger like a brewing lighting storm devoid of rain and thunder. it's quiet and heavy and skin crawling.
you were younger than him, you still had time to enjoy your long life before having to worry about the effects of mara. you should've still had time to enjoy your long life beside him.
"y/n," his voice calling you is breathless as he moves swiftly to stand in front of you. he takes your wrist gently- you can feel his fingers tremble ever so slightly- and he brushes that yellow leaf onto the ground under his boot. "let me see," he says. finally registering back into reality, you lift your chin and he's immediately searching your face and eyes for any signs of... just something.
maybe he was looking for something that was invisible. a way to prove that what just happened before his very eyes was a trick of some sort- maybe a sick prank you'd be begging him to forgive you for later. or maybe he had already reached a state of dreary understanding and was searching for a timeline of how much time you have left.
"jing yuan," you softly call, and he flinches when he hears the drag of your voice that indicates your painful coughs from a moment ago. "it..." you take a deep breath, "it's going to be fine. let's just go to lady bailu and-"
"no," he quickly shoots down before his brain could think otherwise. his outburst startled you both, and if it weren't for such a dire situation, his wide eyes that quickly scrunched closed may have been cute in a way. "no, just- nevermind." he lets out a deep sigh. "we should go see the dragon lady, you're right. and i-" should contact the ten-lords commission. but he doesn't want to. if he does, then you'll be taken from him and imprisoned with every other marastruck xianzhou native they've taken under his order.
his hands that were wrapped around your wrists grow slack and you easily slip free from his grasp. dropping one hand, the other raises to brush back the wild, white treses that always cover his right eye.
"we'll start with lady bailu, okay?" he just nods, not able to formulate words anymore. he had a letter sent to the alchemy commission announcing his visit along with you for the following day, giving him some time to compose himself. a single day would do you no harm after all.
Tumblr media
"is there still nothing that can be done?" jing yuan knew the answer already. of course, there wasn't. there hadn't been for as long as he's been general- which was longer than most of his predecessors. the best 'solution' he had at this point was the small gourd gripped tightly in his fist. this had been his second time back to the alchemy commission, the first time had been with you but now he stands here alone.
"you know as well as i do," bailu's voice spoke as she stood in front of him with her hands on his hips, "this is the most advanced treatment i have. the alchemy commission is still no closer to finding a real cure, so please make do with this for now."
"i understand," there was no point in trying to converse longer. the longer he spent here the longer you waited for him back at home. he had contacted bailu with means on the downlow and had even attempted to keep who the afflicted person was if word did spread.
of course, that didn't work out like he wanted and just by his mannerisms alone, the young high elder knew it was you. she had never seen the luofu's general so disheveled before- normally able to keep a better lid on his emotions.
"you have my gratitude," he said before dismissing himself.
this small gourd could last a patient anywhere between a few days, a few weeks or at worst a few hours. your mara hasn't been active for long, just a day or two before jing yuan could get his hands on the elixir she uses for the marastruck soldiers she comes across.
"only administrator one ochoko of elixir a day! no matter how bad it gets, you cannot exceed that amount!" were bailu's specific instructions. he dares not go against them. at the very most he could stretch the treatment up to around 40 days if he was lucky.
and then there was the probability of you losing your mind quicker than he could treat you. so, he took another precaution.
when jing yuan returned back home, back to you, he had found you sitting on the wooden veranda surrounding the house. the breeze was something you always enjoyed. your head was angled up towards the sky, but you saw nothing behind the blindfold covering your eyes.
sensory deprivation. in cases of mara, cutting off senses of the body can slow the spread of it. surely with this and the dragon lady's elixir...
"y/n," he calls and you swivel your head towards his voice with a smile. one that was so innocent and warm he wished he could see your eyes.
"welcome back," you greet him as he pads softly over to you. running the pads of his finger across the skin just below your blindfold, his chest tightens. its not fair.
"i'm home." jing yuan is glad you cannot see his frown.
Tumblr media
the time it took for the alchemy commission to finally find out jing yuan had been seeking bailu's guidance for a marastruck xianzhou native was more than his pessimism expected, but less than his desired yearned. he was cornered at the seat of divine foresight, surrounded by alchemy commission enforcers and yanqing who had been privy to the secret considering he lived with the general and you.
the general sat at his desk, his fingers weaved together and propped up by his elbows. his forehead lowered and resting on the backs of his hands with his scrunched-up expression hidden under his white mane of hair that had been tied up messier than usual- if one could believe it with the nest of hair he normally had.
hearing the underlings of bailu chew his ears off, he could only catch a glance of yanqing at his side. arms locked at his sides with his fists clenched- jing yuan could only imagine the face he was making.
"y/n must be apprehended and relocated to the shackling prison, general. you're aware of this."
"all too well," he whispers to himself, but with the heavy quiet everyone can hear him. "yanqing," he calls without lifting his head.
"general?" the general had never heard the boy so soft spoken before. all his bravado seems to have shrunk.
"i will be contacting the ten lords commission," he swallows. "please make preperation for it."
"yes, general." the painful swallow in the young boy's voice was enough to tell jing yuan that he understood.
'go spend time with y/n before they're gone.' that was what jing yuan really said.
soon, jing yuan's office was clear of all guests and he finally lifted his head and leaned himself back in his chair. letting out a breath, he knew it was coming. you had been coughing up more leaves than he had expected and despite everything he tried, the affliction was ruthless.
it wasn't fair.
the next day, jing yuan had decided to do one finally task. for himself and for you. instead of waiting for the ten lords commission to come knocking at his doorstep, he was going to take one last final measure. even if it changes nothing and you're still taken away from him- perhaps it could extend your sanity just a little while longer. that alone would give jing yuan the smallest peace of mind.
your body had been getting weaker, and patches of yellow gingko shaped markings had spotted all over your body. jing yuan had to practically carry you all the way to the divination commission to meet with fu xuan.
"general," fu xuan's soft voice speaks as he undoes your blindfold but softly instructs that you keep your eyes closed for him. "are you sure you want to do this?"
"i've made my decision."
replacing your blindfold, the general places his palm across the span of your eyes. your hand reaches up to gently rest on his wrist and he can see the cursed yellow blotting you under your sleeves meant to keep it hidden. he grimaces.
"you're taking my memories... aren't you?" your voice had gone scratchy and distorted a few days ago, so you had refrained from speaking. another pointless suppression tactic.
"yes, my dear," he brings you down to your knees beneath the matrix that was ever turning. he kneels with you, keeping his hand over your eyes. "i am."
"yanqing?"
"he knows. i... i asked him not to come." he didn't want you to look that boy in the face and not know who he was. "after this, you'll be taken to the shackling prison." jing yuan closes his eyes and lets out a heavy breath. "i'm so sorry."
"i know." your gentle grasp on his wrist tightened and he wishes you'd rip off his gauntlet and embed your nails into his skin just so he'd have something left of you after the day's end. "it'll all be okay."
"no," he refutes, "it wont."
"general," fu xuan wistfully calls. "the ten lords commission will be coming shortly. if you're sure about this, then we must act quickly." the general nods, lifting off his knee to lean and push his forehead against yours one last time. his bangs still tickle your face, and his skin is warm. the way he smells of tea and the elixir you had been taking envelops you and you feel oddly at peace.
the next and last time jing yuan see's your eyes, they're stripped of everything he ever memorized about them. and you didn't recognize him.
the buzz about the general losing you was all hush, like a ripple that kept coming into contact with him. you were gone, taken away from him and all he wanted to do was find a way to get past it. get over it. accept it. but all the outside noise just kept reminding him about how much it hurt.
the buzz turned into murmurs, turned into static and as the days past public life returned to normalcy on the luofu. now, as welt, march and the trailblazer all walk around the divination commission they pass by a small jade plaque that had been placed there several years ago. it looked well-kept and there was a name inscribed on it.
"so, was this y/n person important or something?" march asks, unaware of the intensity that question could hold for some. fu xuan looks at the plaque that used to sit comfortably at the seat of divine foresight before it was moved.
"they were. a very important person who meant a lot to all of us on the luofu."
"did they...?" march's voice was sad, and welt tries to keep her from asking anything more. the plaque was obviously a memorial.
"they were stricken with mara a long time ago." fu xuan takes a deep breath and turns to the curious girl. "i'll be happy to answer any questions you have about them, but you must not bring the subject up to the general under any circumstances."
"the general? but why not?"
fu xuan's face falls and his lips curl over her teeth in a small frown that was biting back too many things she need not disclose to outsides ears.
"it would be pointless." was all she replies.
fu xuan looks longingly at the matrix and can picture the face of the general who had completely recovered from the loss of his partner. the general who will gaze out over his desk at the large star chess board in his office. the general who still entertains his young retainer in both combat training and chess games. the general who still had a bad habit of dozing off and slipping away from his seat and paperwork.
the general who doesn't remember he was ever in love to begin with.
Tumblr media
sometimes, the general of the xianziou luofu finds himself starting out into empty space. the words 'it isn't fair' repeating in his subconscious bring a pain to him. he doesn't know what they mean. what wasn't fair? all he can do to shake the feeling and words is resume meditating.
jing yuan didn't know why he meditated. but he did know that he didn't want to remember why it hurts.

May I please request Aeon of Cultivation! S/o with Emanator Yanqing?
The Aeon of Cultivation isn’t like Abundance. Whereas the Abundance is like the uncontrolled growth of a forest, the Cultivation is like a farm. Something carefully tended to and guided to grow while also allowing for the pruning of what a person doesn’t need.
Sorry, wanted to write a quick description of Cultivation so it’d be easier to understand , but the Aeon! S/O walks among people because they themselves want to know who they give their power to. Because before they ascended to Aeonhood, they want to be good, so they want to choose good people to give their power to.
On the Xianzhou, they meet Yanqing and, after getting to know him, make him their first Emanator as a way to help him grow his own skills (he doesn’t know he’s an Emanator until he finds that he can outpace the general or Fu Xuan tells him or something)
Thank you for all the awesome stories you share here. Hope this makes it before all the Yanqing angst returns.
Hey there, Anon!! I absolutely love this request, so I hope my little one-shot will do it justice!!<33
Content: light-hearted stuff for once, unserious, fluff, reader is an Aeon and Yanqing doesn't know about it at first, established relationship, Jing Yuan being Jing Yuan, sfw

Growing into glory. (Yanqing x Aeon!Gn!Reader)

"You know... I've been feeling odd lately." "Odd? How so?" "Well... would you believe me if I told you that I was able to beat Master Jing Yuan in a duel earlier today?" You hid a small, knowing smirk behind a fan, eyes turned away to slyly glance at the setting sun that was bidding it's last goodbyes over the ocean's horizon. You were both bathed in a warm, orange glow, your thumb idly running over his knuckles with a chuckle.
"Perhaps all the training has finally simply paid off?" You asked after a small pause, yet your lover didn't seem all too convinced. His nose wrinkled, eyes narrowing in disagreement as his head followed your gaze. "No... at least not entirely... I think there is more to it. I have never even gotten close to beating him before." You shrug at his words before you placed your fan down onto the wooden table and raised your teacup to your lips with a hum, unable to hide your amused grin anymore.
"Then I suppose that the seal stuck to your forehead did not solve the issue?"
Yanqing deadpanned at your words, his fingers ghosting over it absently with a shake of his head. He had a long day behind him, one filled with chaos after Jing Yuan for a moment believed that he was possessed again. And to say that the young Lieutenant did not appreciate having a seal slapped onto his forehead in panic by HuoHuo would be an understatement.
"I'm afraid not." He said, the annoyance so clear it made you nearly snort. "I believe he just did it out of spite." "Ofcourse." You agreed easily, enjoying your lover's cluelessness a little too much. You knew it was perhaps wrong to hide the truth from him... but you also enjoyed the smug and proud look on his face, as he most likely replayed his mentors defeat in his mind. As the Aeon of cultivation themselves, you couldn't help but think that letting him figure it out on his own would be the best way to go about it. It will help him grow further after all.
"Ugh... how am I supposed to get this seal off now? HuoHuo said that I shouldn't take it off in case I am possessed... but I'm not!" The boy pulled on it, wincing a little when it pulled his skin with it. You smiled a little, hand reaching out to replace his, before you just simply slid it off with ease. "There." You hummed and ignored the dumbfounded look on Yanqing's face as you decided to retire for the day after a swift and sly goodbye.
He watched you leave for a while, his hand holding onto the piece of Shuen paper in thought. You shouldn't have been able to take it off... but then again, there were many things about you that often left him wondering if you were hiding something after all, just like the general apparently believed.
It began with your rather mysterious origins on the Xianzhou. You never spoke of your past, and in a way, he supposed that that was one of the many things that made him interested in you in the first place. You believed in his strength, in his growth, always so awfully wise for the young few years you were supposed to have, and yet even after a while into courtship, he still felt this air of mystery surrounding you. One last detail to complete everything he knew about you.
But... perhaps he was looking too much into it... right?
--
The days went on in rather... interesting ways. He found himself growing a bigger appetite, often times ending with you and him sitting in restaurants near the ocean side whilst you watched him feast away with a content look in your eyes. All on you, ofcourse.
And then there was his sudden near inhuman strength he never had before. He was able to pick up bolders twice his size, swing heavier swords with ease. His senses seemed sharper, feet quicker, breath more steady, and even with longer lasting stamina. Despite the concern that ran through him at all these changes, he still found himself rather open to it in a way. Perhaps everything he had done over the years was indeed finally paying off! Or maybe... an Aeon had simply blessed him at last? He didn't know which was better... or worse.
Jing Yuan, on the other hand, seemed less impressed by the whole ordeal. Something he only let you know one day whilst you watched Yanqing partake in another much harder training with concerning growth in his abilities. Well, concerning to anyone but you two. "So... what exactly was your reason for doing this?" The older man hummed after a long moment of silence, his sly eyes glancing at you from the rim of his teacup, which you met with an amused smile of your own. It wasn't surprising that he caught on eventually.
"He... is deserving of it." The answer was short, criptic, perhaps not made for non-Aeon's to understand, and yet the general still tilted his head in a silent demand of elaboration. You couldn't help but chuckle at his confidence. "I've traversed amongst the people in search of someone worthy of growth, someone who can appreciate the cultivation needed to hone one's abilities for the good of others." "Is that why you made him a lover, Aeon of cultivation?" Ah, so that's what it was. You figured that he'd grow suspicious of your intentions, that small narrow of his eyes making you press your lips together and shake your head.
"No. My love for him is not relevant to my decision." "Then that's all I need to hear." There was another long pause, one filled with the both of you watching Yanqing fight against some cloud knights in the distance of the training grounds, whilst the sun was beginning to set. Whilst you were happy with your decision, you still couldn't help but begin to wonder what the blonde may be thinking of all of this. Or rather, what he'd think of you once he realizes what you were. You were afraid of his reaction.
"... Are you going to tell him?" You asked, making Jing Yuan hum in thought before shaking his head with a small grin. "No. I'll let him figure it out on his own." He simply said, and you felt the underlying bitterness in those indifferent words. Yanqing apparently smugly celebrated his glory over his own mentor for everyone to see and hear. It was no surprise that the man would use this as a teaching moment of the sort. Even if just to spite him.
"And besides... I'm glad you decided to be different than those that came before you." You gave the man a surprised look at the praise, yet couldn't thank him when the young lieutenant came running your way with a call of your name. You handed him a silken towel to distract from your aching heart, watching as he quickly wiped away the sweat on his forehead with a wide grin. "How did I do today? I did great, didn't I, Master?" "Indeed you have, Yanqing..." A knowing smirk rested on the man's face lazily before he took the opportunity to retire early for the day, leaving you and your lover alone. There was an akward, one-sided silence between the both of you, one that the usually dense blonde noticed immideatly. He paused his boasting to stare at your rather nervous expression that you tried to desperately hide behind a fan.
Tumblr media
He had noticed that you've been acting out of character lately, your usual calm and rather talkative demeanor replaced with something more solemn and guilty. At first, he believed that you were simply feeling ill with the change of the weather on the Xianzhou... but lately, he was beginning to wonder if you were perhaps getting worried sick over his sudden change instead. He knew it was unnatural and that he should perhaps ask the Master Diviner to help him... but at the same time, he couldn't help but near selfishly want to stay this way in hopes of impressing you. He wanted to be strong for you. Someone you can speak of and boast about with pride. Yet when he saw the way you nervously averted your eyes after he asked you if you were okay, he determined that it wasn't worth the heartache you must've been experiencing.
--
That's what eventually led him to stand in front of an unimpressed Fu Xuan, as he spoke of his woes and odd newfound powers in hopes of finally getting to the bottom of this mystery. Her arms were crossed tightly, a brow raised, whilst she secretly questioned how a young boy like him could be this dense. They were standing in the generals office, said man idly resting in his grand chair with a content, smug look on his face that made the woman's temper just rise more. He definitely already knew what was going on. They both figured it out from the start, and yet the older man saw amusement in teaching the boy a lesson one way or another. Even if, in her opinion, at least, it was in nonsensical ways like these.
"- So, with all that said, I hereby humbly request for your help, lady Fu Xuan." The boy concluded with a nod of his head, making the woman deadpan harder before turning to give Jing Yuan a long, hard look. The disappointment and annoyance in her gaze were clear, yet the man chose to ignore it by coincidentally taking a sip of his tea with a smug smile. "... I must say, I'm starting to question many things about your leadership lately." "Hm? Sorry, I can't hear you from all the way over here." Sighing in exasperation, she looked at Yanqing again, who was now beginning to fidget a little nervously at their rather indifferent reactions to all of this.
"You're an Emanator of cultivation. That's all there is to it. I'm afraid there is nothing we can do to reverse it either, if that is your next request." "Huh?" "Don't tell me you're standing too far away to hear me as well, boy." Yanqing blinked once, then twice, before looking down at the calloused palms of his hands. Everything seemed to make sense to him in that moment, as he had heard of that rather new Aeon before and especially about what their abilities entailed... yet there was still one thing he couldn't make sense of. "... How did this happen? I don't ever recall meeting them."
Fu Xuan rubbed her temples in defeat. "Have you never once questioned your own lover's origins?" She asked, hoping it was enough to finally wake him up. And it seemed to be the case when the boy's eyes lit up in sudden realisation, his eyes widening in near disbelief. And yet, that also made sense. All of the signs, all of the little hints... that's the small detail he was missing all along! "I... Thank you, lady Fu Xuan, for your help! Now if you'll excuse me..." The two adults watched the blonde sprint out of the generals office, the silence deafening before it was filled with Jing Yuan's chuckling. Fu Xuan gave him an unimpressed glare.
"I'm unsure of how to interpret the grand lesson you so have bestowed on him this time." The man waved his hand dismissively, eyes turned down to the paperwork laying on his desk. "I just hope it will teach him not to boast anymore over something that he didn't achieve on his own." "So I assume you are still angered over him beating you in that duel?" "Ah how odd... it seems like I can't hear you once more, Fu Xuan..."
--
The ocean waves gently crashed against the stone wall under the pavillion you were sitting in, your lover uncharacteristically quiet as he sat opposite you in intense silence. His hand grasped onto yours reassuringly, trying to remind you that he wasn't angry despite him now clearly knowing who you were, or rather, what you were. You felt nervous, guilty, and perhaps even more scared now. Yet you were unable to look at him as your gaze simply followed the reflection of the moonlight that spread across the ocean surface in the distance. Your lips trembled as you spoke, voice small in a shaky whisper that made his gaze soften and melt even more.
"Are you... afraid of me now? Angry? Enraged?"
Yanqing shook his head, which made you finally look at him. "Not at all. If anything, I'm grateful for this gift you've given me, my dove." You tried to find a lie in his words, yet you couldn't even dare it. He was sincere, truthful. You hummed weakly, a small smile on your lips. "I see... that makes me glad to hear..." A comfortable silence filled the air again, this time one that made you relax and the stress you've been carrying around for a while now finally subside. You worried for nothing and were thankful that your judgment was right.
You chose well indeed.
Alrighttt... I'm not sure if this was good or not, but I really hope it was good enough for you, Anon!! And thank you again for your great request. I had fun writing this, even if I'm not too confident about it.
