I think if Atem ever found out that Yugi solved his puzzle knowing full well it was likely a super cursed object that was the cause of some absolutely horrific deaths and was genuinely excited about it because he thought it was cool he would have an aneurysm. Like, on one hand he is so so so concerned about Yugi fucking around like that with other ancient cursed things because he's so protective of his other half. But on the other hand, he can't deny Yugi was right that solving the cursed object ending up being a good thing. And he would be so pissed off that he can't argue against that despite how much he really really wants to

Small idea that started out as a silly sketch and ended up as a full AU?? Im not sure if I really like this but it was fun to make! I might make more drawings of them.

Atem and yugi’s relationship isn’t specified because I really enjoy the creative freedom people can have over them. Some think they’re like brothers, some ship them, and some see them simply as friends and i love every single dynamic.

Au where Atem is Seto's cousin and Yugi is struggling because his bosses cousin is to damn hot. Atem is also trying to not bang his cousins employee over a desk somewhere. Seto is in agony over having to deal with them.

I'm having ygo thoughts again and all I can say is that I think people in the DM universe should be incomprehensibly grateful Yugi got the Millennium Puzzle and not Ryou because can you imagine how codependent those two would be? Ryou, local ghost lover permanently haunted (no pun intended) by the fear of being lonely forever, paired up with Yami Yugi (Yami Ryou?), local ghost who is SO determined to make sure all his friends are happy and suffers from a crippling need to be useful and used? Together? Shadi would have to separate them with a crowbar for the Ceremonial Duel and 5 seconds afterward there would be a 50% chance one or both of them would kill him with the same crowbar for making the other sad. They'd be insufferable. Inseparable. Mostly just insane though.

I don't think I ever explained exactly what the this AU entails.

This AU is a darker retelling of the original series that explores themes of abuse and trauma. Yugi is a small DID system who also suffers from other disorder comorbidities. Atem is the main protector of their system and looks after the host very fondly.

I got inspired by S0 darker tone and my own personal experiences to make this AU.

How did Yugi die in the au? Instead of being a king like Atem, was he some sort of mediator for Egypt??? Did he still sacrifice himself for Zorc? Are Jounouchi and Anzu gonna have their AE counterparts from Forbidden Memories instead of it being Mana and Mahad??? Plzzzz I love this auuuu plz post moreeee

HIIII so the way im picturing it is like. instead of kaiba and duel monsters being the source of conflict, it's jou anzu and honda trying to befriend them instead VSBDJJD im ngl i havent thought up specifics of how yugi actually ended up like that yet, i just thought the concept was really funny and thus, (once i do think of details i will let you know tho :D!!!!)

Curses are an unfortunate thing, specially when you can't even tell others what is wrong with you.

Once a great court wizard, his enemies managed to land a blow on Atem by means of a nasty curse: he must roam this world as a kuriboh until he hears his true name from the mouth of a loved one.

Atem always made friends wherever he went, and he certainly had people who he cherished, so this shouldn't be hard - save for a little peculiarity in his culture: telling your heart-name, that is, your real name to anyone outside of your family is absolute taboo.

Thus never would he hear "Atem" in the soothing voice of an friend, or his pupils, or any other acquaintance - to all of them he is "Master Amon", from his face-name Amon-who-dispels-the-darkness.

Would that he could at least get back to the castle, for the young princes he used to tutor were people who had once considered family...
