Holding the precious note close to your chest, you walked through the outside corridors of Karasuno high school in search of the volleyball gym. As you walked closer to a certain building, you could hear balls slamming onto the floor. That was a good sign. Your main goal was to slip the note into Yamaguchi’s locker without him, and preferably nobody else noticing. 

You peered into the gym to confirm whether it was the right place or not. Luckily it was, which lead you to the next door over. The locker room. You had an idea of where his locker was, though his backpack leaning against it conforming your ideas. Glancing around the room, you hurriedly slid the note through the crack before practically running out. 

The next day was absolute torture. Sitting in class, believing every glance Yamaguchi gave you was filled with judgement and hatred. Yes, it is possible for you to be overreacting, but he hasn’t said anything yet. Maybe he didn’t read the note? Or worse, he doesn’t like you back and will never talk to you again. 

As class ended, you hurriedly gathered your materials and shoved them inside your bag. You bolted out the room, but was stopped after you saw Tsukishima, Yamaguchi’s friend, glaring down at you. He waved you over and you hesitantly walked over. 

Your mind raced with thoughts, what happened? Why does he want to talk to you all of a sudden? Did Yamaguchi tell Tsuki about the note?

“Oi…” Tsukishima brought you out of your thoughts. 

“What is it, Tsukishima?” You questioned, your fingers nervously toying with your school uniform. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair before he looked down at you. He reached inside his pocket and pulled out your note. 

You looked mortified. Was Yamaguchi so disgusted by it that he handed it to Tsukishima?! You were close to death at this point.

“Look, I appreciate the time it took you to make this…but I don’t feel the same.” Tsuki explained. 

“Huh?” You blurted out. What does he mean? 

“That note wasn’t for you. It was for Yamaguchi.” You said simply, though embarrassment slowly made its way to your cheeks. You had put it in the wrong locker. You should’ve thought of a better way to give it to him.

Tsukishima looked confused, he furrowed his eyebrows but soon smirked.

“Well, you put it in the wrong locker.” He sneered. Duh, of course you did. He didn’t have to point it out. You pouted and crossed your arms.  Was he really teasing you at a time like this?

“Im sorry, okay? Can you at least tell me where his locker is?” You frowned, reaching your hand out for the note. He dropped it in your hand, looking up at the ceiling. He placed his hand on his chin, as if he was in thought.

“Fine.” He sighed, as if he was accepting a tiresome task. You rolled your eyes, he’s so dramatic.

“Just follow me.” Tsukishima then turned around and walked in long strides. You followed him till you entered the locker room next to the gym. 

“It’s this one, don’t mess up this time.” He pointed to the locker with that stupid grin on his face.

“Okay, I get it…” You grumbled. He walked away, most likely to the gym for volleyball practice. You sighed out loud and walked up to Yamaguchi’s locker. You hoped it was.

“I swear if he’s lying…” You mumbled under your breath, slipping the note into the locker.

“[Name]? What are you doing…?” A voice startled you and you jumped back from the locker. It was Yamaguchi.

“Oh-! Uhm…nothing!” You laughed nervously, your eyes widening. What if he saw?

“Okay.” He hummed. A small smile adorned his lips before his eyes lightened up a bit.

“Oh! That’s right, Tsuki told me that you had something to give me!” He smiled. Most likely he had forgotten momentarily once he saw you slipping something in his locker.

“Oh, he did?” You laughed, though there was malice behind it. That stupid bean pole…!

“Actually…” You mumbled, your eyes shifting between him and the locker. He tilted his head before he stepped closer.

“Oh? You put it in my locker? It’s okay! I’ll get it.” He grinned, his fingers twisting at the lock. Your mouth opened slightly, oh no. He wasn’t supposed to read it with you in the room! This is so embarrassing.

He hummed as he grabbed it, tilting his head as he opened it. It had…hearts? He read the note, his lips parting and eyebrows raising. His cheeks flushed with color as he finished the love note. 

You were beyond embarrassed, eyes looking everywhere except him.

“You really feel this way?” He asked, though the question was stupid, you nodded. He stepped a bit closer, giving you enough courage to look at him. He was smiling slightly, his cheeks flushed with pink.

“I do too. I really like you.” He said softly, a hint of nervousness seeping out. You smiled at his response. It lifted a huge weight off your shoulders.

“I’m glad.” You grinned, it was the only thing you could think of to say.

“So…do you want to maybe…go out this Saturday?” He moved his hand to nervously scratch his neck. 

“I’d love that.” You nodded. Well, this worked out perfectly. You were still going to murder Tsuki later, though.

“Great! I mean, that’s nice. I-I’ll see you then…” He trailed off, glancing at the door.

You shook your head with a smile before giving him a gentle kiss on the cheek.

“See you there, Tadashi.” You said softly before exiting the room. You tried to act nonchalant, but your cheeks burned red. Why did you do that? Oh well, it’s over now.

Meanwhile, Yamaguchi almost had a heart attack. Standing there for a few moments before a huge, dopey smile spread across his face. He was definitely teased by Tsukishima at practice.

Yamaguchi Tadashi

He never thought he would receive something like this until he met you.

You always treat him with so much love and affection, that he even thought about the possibility of this happening one day, but he always thought he was dreaming too much.

But when you appeared at his desk holding a small box wrapped in a flowery cloth, he felt like he might pass out right there.

Yamaguchi is someone who is very insecure about himself, as he has not received attention from any person in a romantic way, so receiving something simple but as comforting as a homemade lunch means a lot to him.

"Huh!? This is for me...? T-Thank you very much!!"

You can be sure he was all flushed when he took the bento from your hands.

And if you have any doubts that he didn't like it, put it out of your mind immediately! Tsukishima will definitely complain to you the next day saying that Yamaguchi talked about your bento all day.

Kenma Kozume

We all know that Kenma is someone who eats very little, and it's no wonder he has the smallest appetite in the series.

You worry a lot about his diet and how it affects his well-being, and as he is a volleyball player, he needs to eat well to be in good shape for every game!

And to help him, you thought about making a complete bento for him at least once a week.

So when you walked towards him with a bento box in your hands, he didn't think it was for him and that it was your own bento, but those thoughts soon dissipated when you shyly handed him the box perfectly wrapped in a polka dot cloth.

Obsessed with technology, Kenma always has his cell phone or console in his hand while eating a meal.

Then It was an unexpected surprise to see him putting away his video game to eat the bento you made for him.

And if you give him a delicious slice of apple pie, he will definitely try to eat better to get the dessert.

Akaashi Keiji

As someone who has the habit of taking care of others around him, he was probably the one who gave you a bento earlier, so as a thank you, you decided to make one for him too.

Even if he never said it to you, it's quite noticeable how much he likes onigiris, seeing as he brought one to school almost every week.

And that was why the bento you prepared was full of onigiri of different flavors, as you weren't really sure which flavor was his favorite.

Akaashi would certainly be very grateful for the surprise, and he may be a little shy about the gift and sometimes doesn't show his emotions as much, but you've known him long enough to know that he loved the bento you prepared for him.

"Oh, that's for me?" He takes the bento from your hands, and when he opens it, he finds onigiris that you made yourself.

"Thank you, my love." He gives you a small smile, and when no one is looking, he plants a kiss on your cheek.

Also, don't be surprised if Bokuto appears out of nowhere and eats some of the onigiris you made for Akaashi, he usually eats his friends' snacks (and doesn't share when someone wants to eat his snack💀).

Oikawa Tooru

He has certainly received several bentos or snacks from his fans, and no matter how willingly he accepts each gift, he has never been so interested in it.

But his opinion is totally different when it comes to you, he appreciates every thing you do for him.

We all know he can be a little cheeky sometimes, so expect to get a comment from him bragging about himself.

"But of course you wouldn't resist the thought of spoiling me, I'm irresistible after all." says Tooru giving you a wink.

Just give him a serious look and he stops talking in the same second...😭

Oikawa will beg you to feed him, blatantly lying that his hand is hurting at that moment.

He'll be bragging to his third-year friends about how he has such an amazing partner and they don't, but not until Iwazumi threatens to throw him off a cliff.

Tendou Satori

Just like Yamaguchi, Tendou is someone who has never caught anyone's attention romantically, and is even excluded because of his different appearance than other people.

So when he receives a bento from someone he loves so much, he will definitely remember it forever.

Trust me, he'll have a passionate smile written on his face and with the brightest eyes while listening to you talk about how you prepared his favorite food.

He would probably first make some joke about the situation, to try to ease his own shyness, but later he will genuinely show his gratitude in every possible way.

Tendou loves being around you, so expect lots of hugs and little kisses during lunch, in addition to his lots of compliments for the bento you made.

The next day, he probably would surprise you with a dessert he made especially for you, like truffles, cookies or even cupcakes!

And please give him lots of compliments too!! This way, he will prepare something every week for you.🌷

if you accept he’ll get way too excited that he starts jumping around, exclaiming ‘they said yes!’ over and over until he gets a hold on himself. he tries putting on a cool act and thanks you before running away.

if you reject him he’ll stand there awkwardly for a bit, his face turning red out of embarrassment. he smiles sheepishly and just walks out like nothing happened, he's hoping you'll forget it ever happened.

❥ Tobio Kageyama

he confesses through a letter, he literally cannot face you. if he did try he'll be stumbling over his words, a completely sweaty mess. bro has no game i fear..

he is silently spying on you though, intently watching you as you get the poorly handwritten letter from your locker. he gulps when he couldn't even read your expression, trying to get a better angle of your face.

when he sees you stuff his letter in your bag and prepare to go home, he sighs, maybe you'll reply tomorrow. he's really anticipating your answer now though, but he can wait.

what did the letter contain though? well it's probably pretty straightforward, with him stating the reason why he likes you and asking you to go out with him.

if you accept he’ll stare at you for a while, his eyes basically asking you “are you sure?” and when you confirm it, he's internally squealing like a little girl. he feels like he setted the ball perfectly right now, he had the energy to race around the school with Hinata.

if you reject him, he’ll mutter a ‘thank you’ and walk away. he’s mentally screaming though, walking away to go set a bunch of balls in the gym.

❥Tsukishima Kei

probably really direct about it? like he knows what he wants.

asks you to come and meet him after school, at some random place you didn't even know existed in the campus.

when you arrive he's already there, he doesn't even look that nervous, aside from the fact he's fidgeting with his bandaged fingers.

very straight to the point, much like tobio. (don't tell him that though..) he tells you why he likes you and asks you out, simple as that.

if you accept, then cool. I mean, you're cool so..uhh you two go on cool dates. Because you're a cool couple, yeah.

if you reject him, then that's not so cool. He's not holding it against you though, he's pretty much just alright with it. He's not going to force you into liking him, he respects your decision.

❥Yamaguchi Tadashi

literally shaking out of nervousness, asked Shimada for some tips on how to properly ask someone out and it was useful but it didn't soothe his anxiety at all..

has flowers prepared and everything, he just wants to crawl into a cave and die when he sees you arrive.

looks like he was about to faint from the lack of oxygen getting to him, he takes a deep breath and finally gets all of his feelings out.

if you accept, he looks like he's about to blast off like a rocket ship. Literally doesn't know how to react because he just..expected you to reject him. He thanks you so many times you can't even count anymore.

"so, u-um... is it any, uh..." "...it'd adorable, yamaguchi." you whispered, giggling under your breath. you gently squeezed its stomach, gasping a little at how soft its belly was. You don't really know what got into you this morning as soon as your eyes laid on the clock signaling two hours before getting to your work place. You really don't know why you got up with a sudden need to cook... But what exactly did you want to cook?

You looked through your mini recipe book you always kept safe on your phone's notes.

Something salty? An omelette? Fruit? A smoothie? Strawberry smoothie?! You were close, your mouth drooling at the thought of every dish you got remember, but still couldn't find the perfect one.

"Hotcakes! Got it!" You whisper-shouted glad to finally know what you've been secretly craving for, careful to do not wake up your partner, who had told you last night has had a rough week. So now that's finally his day off, you could make a little treat for the both of you.

You put on your apron and started taking the ingredients as fast and as silently you could, getting everything done an hour later.

Now the last detail was the missing topping, the strawberry mermalade.

Maybe you got too engrossed making the hotcakes you didn't notice the last ingredient to satisfy your appetite was missing on your refrigerator.

"Crap..." You searched everywhere, forgetting about having to keep the volume as low as possible, waking your spouse on the process.

Just as he arouse from his sleep, the smell of something delicious creeped up on his nosetrills, fading any annoyance he might have had from someone interrumpting his resting time.

As he was about to get up and greet you, he heard the front door close in a hurry, well—more like shut.

He got to the dining room and saw the table was impeccable; two plates, cutlery, glasses filled with milk and on the center, a couple of hotcakes piles all fluffy and smooth looking.

A smile came to form on his face, thinking how marvelous and skilled you might have seemed like when cooking this, for the both of you, which was something that made his heart warm up even more.

He decided to look further around since he knew you couldn't have gone to work just yet, something might have been missing for everything to be perfect, which was something he's come to know and love about you. Wanting to get everything as best as you could was always inspiring for him.

There was a small container, matching with the tableware set up, it was the only thing left on the bar which divided the kitchen from the dining room, empty.

He thought you were missing the maple syrup.

After some thinking on how you could react to him knowing about your surprise and getting bummed about it, he chose to try and sleep a bit more while waiting for you and act as if he knew nothing once you woke him by yourself.

"O-Ok ok! maybe... But I swear I had a similar reaction to this one! I-I loved it sweetheart!" Now he got closer to embrace you.

All his and your concern dissolved as fast as the delectable and comforting hotcakes in your mouths, along the strawberry mermalade you explained you had to grab to make it worth it, you spent a lovely morning with your other half.

refreshing. you got a new perfume called "first date" and this was the best description for it: refreshing. it smelled like a summer afternoon. well, the name couldn't be more appropriate for today. you, finally, got a date with the boy you've been in love for so long, tadashi. the day he asked you out was like a dream. you were in class, packing your thinks to go and he approached you: "hi" tadashi said "i would like to know if you want do go out with me tomorrow, after school. we could huh- we could go get ice cream". you were almost dying of happiness, but you tried to stay calm. "sure" you answered him "i would like to".

today the day has finally come, and you couldn't pick your outfit. after a long time deciding, you went for a light purple outfit. you were finally done, know you just had to wait for tadashi to come pick you up.

you hear knocks on the door and your heart starts beating faster. "hi, it's me" you hear his voice. you open the door and he gives you a kiss on cheek. looking into his face, you can see he got red. like, really red. "let's go?" he asks. and you both start to walk, going to the ice cream shop. talking about whatever comes to your mind, laughing about stupid things, making jokes about everything. you always liked tadashi, but you'd never imagine that you would get along so well.

at the end of the date, he tells you he wants to show you something. "i promise it's worth it" he says. and it is. he shows you the most beautiful sunset you've ever seen. sitting on the grass, he looks in your eyes. "you're so pretty". he says, holding your hand, wanting more. "can i- huh" you nod. and he kisses you. his lips are soft like clouds and his kiss felt comforting. he smells really good, like green apple.

after the sun goes down, he walks you home. "thank you for today" you say "i really enjoyed it". he hugs you. "oh, i also got this for you". it's a bouquet. a bouquet of syringa voulgaris: the famous lilacs. "it matches your outfit. i hope you like it" he smiles. "see you tomorrow at school!". and he leaves you there, dreaming about him.

It was the start of another year, of course you have no problem in making friends at all! (Very real) It's just that you have social anxiety and that makes it hard for you to flow along your own path– you always need your closest friends beside you, but you got separated from them and got placed into a classroom in which students knew each other, making you and three? Maybe four? Other students feel like an outsider.

Your teacher for the first lesson was absent, your substitute teacher allowed everyone to do as they please as long as no one goes out without permission.

You noticed two peculiar pairs of friends– one blonde and one green haired, the lalala and the other ok ok ok, the story teller and the other stuborn listener.

Of course it was the same friends you compared to your mind, they just seem fit any friendship tropes.

'Lucky them' you thought to yourself

Although you knew six people from the classroom, you guys were never close due these reasons;

1. Awkwardness

2. Social anxiety

3. Just no

You reached over your small bag which contained: one notebook, your pencilcase, an umbrella and a book you're recently reading.

Of course you grabbed the book!

You opened the page where you stuck a bookmark in, an special bookmark infact– your friend made it for you!

Opening the page and straightening your back at the chair, you went into your reading mode, which means shutting off anyone and anything around you.

A green haired boy noticed you in the middle of his rambling.

"Hey, Tsukki."

The blonde furrowed his eyebrows as he paused the thing that he was doing, "What's the problem, Yamaguchi?"

"Look at the other side, second row at the front"

Tsukki looks from where his friend was pointing at, "what about them? They're just reading? Tsk."

"No, something feels off" Yamaguchi scooted closer to Tsukki.

"Move away, please."

"Like they want to be noticed but are also avoiding everyone."

"What the hell does that mean?"

"Like– ugh, forget it."

"No."

Yamaguchi looks at his friend, "no?"

"Tell me, idiot."

"Ah, i don't know, it's like– they won't draw attention to themselves unless needed to."

Tsukki sighs as he steals a glance from you, "probably someone who has social problems" tsukki shrugged his shoulders and adjusted his glasses "what do you wanna do about them, Yamaguchi?"

"Watch me!"

Yamaguchi stands up from his chair beside tsukki and walked gently and calmly onto your way.

At the end page of the book, you grab the bookmark and put it in the page you we're reading and closed the book.

"Hi! Is there any problem?" You say as you look up the boy who approached you

He stiffens.

"My name's Tadashi Yamaguchi, are you new here?"

You nod your head at his words, gosh his voice is so calming and gentle yet with a tone of cheerfulness

A blonde soon then followed

"Tsukishima Kei, now speak up" he says as he looks at you with a slight glare

"My name's L/N F/N" You say with a slight smile, while picking at your fingers and bouncing your leg up and down

Ah, Tsukki knew it. He knew that you have social problems.

"Do you wanna sit with us later? At lunch."

Yamaguchi looks at his friend, putting up a front to hide his bewilderment

You nod at his words, "Do you mind, Tadashi?"

Yamaguchi shakes his head, "No, no! It's fine!"

Tsukki smiles at you while he grabs his friend's hand, "we'll be over there if you need anything, good morning and thank you for the time"

You smile at him one last time before he drags his friend along with him while whispering, "I saw their body language and analyzed their voice, seems like they don't like anyone being all friendly with them unless they have the same energy or are very close with them." He looks at Yamaguchi "You guys seem to click."

Angelic. That was the first word that came to mind when you first saw Yamaguchi Tadashi. 

When you met him in elementary school, saw him again in high school, and now. Now as you stand, watching him afar, the flowers making him look as pretty as ever.

Work had you drained, wanting nothing more than to slip into the confines of your ever so comfy bed. Wanting to feel the cozy pajamas and blanket you had just recently bought. Your thoughts were rudely interrupted by a piece of paper blowing onto your foot. Scrunching your nose, you pick it up and skim the words. Oh? Botanical garden? Sounds…oddly comforting. 

You took the paper as a sign that you needed to go. Nodding your head at the thought as you walked towards the address. It seemed sketchy, but then again you assume everything is. The entrance is cozy and cute. With a decorated arch with a sign hanging. “Open from 9-10 every day! 5$ at the booth.”

You hummed, it wasn’t expensive. Digging through your bag as you walked toward the front, you pulled out five bucks. Handing the cash to the kind lady, you walked inside the gates.

It was breathtaking, seeing the variety of flowers and colors. The vibrant and dull contrast, paired with a fountain and fairy lights topped it off. Awe struck through you, taking a moment to just appreciate the amazing set up. You then walked along the grey stone path, eyes dancing from flower to flower. 

The wonderful scent of peony filled your nose as you turned a new corner. Bending down, you delicately ran your fingertips along the flower petal before leaning in to breathe in its scent. Flowers always had a comforting feeling, especially when enjoyed on a late afternoon. 

You stood up, dusting yourself to rid anything collected in your clothes. The continued walk through the peaceful garden was nice; bending down every now and then to inspect another flower that peaked your interest. You spotted another fountain up a head, deciding to walk closer. The adorable fountains were a wonderful touch. Walking closer, you noticed something behind the fountain. Or was it someone? To cure your curiosity, you cautiously walked around to peek at the obscure figure.

Then you saw him. Yamaguchi Tadashi. The one you had loved in high school; admittedly still having feelings even now. The one who you had always believed in, and looked up too. 

He still had a similar hairstyle, though it was trimmed a bit shorter. He was now much taller and muscular, though he still had that kind look on his face.

The setting made him just as angelic as you remembered, a warm feeling rushing through you as you set eyes on him again. 

“Tadashi…?” The words came out of your lips before you could stop them. His brows furrowed before turning to your direction. Once he saw you, his eyes lit up, a sense of familiarity rushing through them.

“[Name]?” He said, his voice soft and gentle. He took a few steps closer to you, almost as if he was in disbelief of seeing you here. Then again, it was a surprise to say the least, seeing him here out of all places and at the same time.

“God, it’s been ages! How’ve you been?” You smiled and walked a bit closer to him.

He sighed, a smile following after as he placed a hand behind his neck. He had traces of hard work, and tiredness around his eyes.

“I’ve been busy, an athletic trainer isn’t as easy as I imagined.” He joked, his tone cheery. The fairy lights strung across the trees brought out his hidden facial features he had developed from age. You didn’t stare for long.

“I can imagine. Must be nice to be finally settled!” You said with a grin, having heard from Tsukishima that Yamaguchi had landed the job he always wanted. Now keeping him from hopping around the country.

“Yup, me and Yuna have been settling great in the new house.” He said, a smile adorning his face as he mentioned his wife.

The familiarity you had with him for a moment left once he brought up the other girl.

“I’m happy for you two.” You said, though it was a lie. Feeling awful for how selfish you felt, though your heart was telling you otherwise. He was happy with her though, and that part did make you happy. 

Not much was said after that, apparently he had to run. His wife had asked him for groceries; Yamaguchi chuckling and blaming the weird food choices on pregnancy cravings. You laughed along, though you felt sick. 

He waved a goodbye and jogged off. You stood there, wanting nothing more than to lay down and cry. Love was so stupid, it made you feel stupid. Years and years, you had hoped he would want you. Love you like he did with her. 

But she was his, and you were not.

Walking back to your lonely apartment, you felt a certain sort of emptiness. The sickness in your stomach never going away, the urge to drop to your knees and cry never left. You would never be with him in the way you wanted, never. You had to accept that, even if it hurt. 

One thing you would always know, was your selfishness and jealousy.

Jealous of the woman who was blessed with a green haired angel in her life.

Nishinoya

Listen to me, this boy is also a big sleeper like you.

When you are at each other's houses, after a good meal you would take the longest nap of your lives, waking up almost at dinner time (and consequently staying up late because you both are no longer sleepy)

But he would also make sure you are not sleeping too much.

After all, who else would help him with his homework if you were asleep in class and didn't hear the teacher's explanation?

Nishinoya would definitely wake you up with the biggest smile in the world, telling you to walk with him around the school during break time, with the aim of trying to keep you awake.

Sugawara

Upon seeing that you are sleeping, he would initially laugh at the small string of drool that was dripping from your mouth while you slept, but then he would watch you with a kind expression on his face.

He would stroke your head, gently kiss your hand, expect lots of caresses from him!

But make no mistake, he wouldn't let you take a nap all the time while you were in class (he would only make exceptions when he sees that you're too tired), because he would be worried about your school performance.

When you were home, he would let you sleep on top of him while he hugged you. And who knows, maybe he'll take a nap with you, even though he doesn't usually sleep as much as you do, but your presence is so comforting that he can't take it and ends up sleeping with you.

Taketora

If you ever ended up sleeping on his shoulder, he would freak out.

He just loves you SO much, I swear to you that no matter how you are, he will always think you are the most beautiful thing in this world.

He has lots of photos of you sleeping on his phone, from the cutest to the weirdest (and he begs you to not delete them)

He understands that sometimes you may be more tired than usual and sleeping through a boring class, but he doesn't want your grades to drop drastically because you're not paying attention. (but either way he will always help you study)

But don't worry, he can be a little strict sometimes, but he takes great care of you!!

When you wake up from a nap he always has some water and your favorite snack, assuming you would be hungry after sleeping all afternoon.

He sometimes takes some photos of you while you're asleep, you have such a peaceful expression on your face that he can't stand it because of how cute it is!!

And if any teammates found out and made fun of him (Kuroo and Lev more specifically), they would immediately shut up when they saw the scary expression on his face.

Aone

He is definitely the most adorable among all the others above. He cares so much about you and would consequently take very good care of you.

Whenever he notices that you are sleepy, he offers his shoulder so you can rest your head and take a little nap, depending on where you are.

And I can say for sure that he is someone very comfortable to sleep together, he's practically a heater with legs. Just getting close to this boy makes you feel a comforting warmth.

He stares at you a lot while you sleep, and some people who see it from afar might find it scary (especially because of his intimidating appearance) but you know that those eyes always shine with love for you.

Aone definitely has a photo of you sleeping and made it his wallpaper on his cell phone.

summary: tsukishima kei likes being alone, but he makes an exception for you.

the sun sets when you walk out of your last class of the day, finally making it to the weekend. all the students are bustling to make it out of the classroom while you took your time packing stuff away. right as you turn to exit the classroom, you’re greeted by a tall figure with his headphones hanging around his neck--that figure being no other than your best friend, tsukishima.

“oi, could you be any slower?” he grumbles, flicking your forehead as you look up at him.

“well you could’ve left, but you chose to stay, didn't you?” you cock your brow teasingly at him, giggling as a light blush covers his cheeks while he mumbles a small whatever and starts walking off.

you sped up a bit, trying to catch up with the tall boy. “where’s tadashi?” you asked.

“he left earlier, said he needed to go to the store.” tsukishima responds, looking straight ahead as he opens the door for the both of you.

this had become a usual routine, tsukishima would meet you after last period everyday, waiting for you no matter how long you took. he would always try to walk you home. sometimes yamaguchi would accompany your walks home as well, but on some days it was just the two of you. if he had practice, he would let you know so you wouldn't end up waiting for him.

there was a comfortable silence while you two walked down the sidewalk, sun still setting along the horizon. you come to a stop, spotting a pretty flower near where the sidewalk and road meet. tsukishima slightly grabs the handle of your backpack as you bend down and pick the flower, showing it to him.

the corners of his lips quirk up into a slight smirk, taking the small flower out of your hands and putting it in his pocket of his school uniform. this makes warmth spread on your cheeks, getting back up quickly to get back home.

while the both of you continue walking to your neighborhood, tsukishima speaks up.

“do you want to come over tomorrow?” he asks, there's no emotion behind it, but as you turn around you see that he’s flustered. cheeks dusted in a light pink like earlier, hand scratching his neck awkwardly.

“huh? the tsukishima kei asking me to come over? why so?” you tease, finding it funny and cute as his blush grows deeper, he looks to the side.

tsukishima tries to come up with something witty, but he can't. “yes, i am. akiteru and my mom are visiting family, so you could come over,” tsukishima hates how awkward he sounds. he hates that only you make him so awkward. he also hates how the sunset just shines perfectly in your direction, making you look breathtaking.

you take a small step closer to him, “i thought you liked being alone?”

“i do, but i guess i could make an exception for you.”

now you’re both blushing, but tsukishima feels himself go red when you accept his invite. as the sun dipped lower, casting a warm glow over the neighborhood, you walked side by side with tsukishima towards home. tomorrow held promises of a different kind of sunset, one shared in the comfort of his company, and perhaps a few shy smiles exchanged too.

"w-well, this is, uh... hah, it's... quite a surprise..." the freckled, olive-haired boy murmured with a smile, the corners of his lips shaking as you gazed up at him with widened eyes. he couldn't take his own eyes off you, not only because of how adorable you look so close to him, but because if he looked at his seniors' faces now, he just knew he'd be encouraged to carry on the mistletoe tradition, all for wanting to help you get more towels for the team after their practice.

nishinoya and tanaka were very supportive seniors, after all; they knew yamaguchi was a boy you found cute for quite a while, so they encouraged you not to be afraid, it's just a kiss, is all... right?

yamaguchi dared not to move as the team gathered around you both, with hinata not really sure of why yamaguchi was so reluctant to leave. tsukishima, as always, explained the tradition of being under the mistletoe to him and kageyama. "basically, yamaguchi needs to kiss them, or else..." "o-or else what? a ghost will remain in the closet?!" "or an evil spirit that will make us lose the next matches?!"

tsukishima found their ignorance regarding this tradition laughable. "no, actually, nothing will happen–apart from noya and tanaka most probably teasing yamaguchi about it, but oh well, so is life," the blonde explained, looking at yamaguchi with a straight face, while the latter was absolutely terrified.

"we... don't have to kiss if you don't want to, yamaguchi..." "i-it's not that, i-i... i... kind of don't mind y'know, i-i just... i'd like to... do it in private," the boy stuttered, getting shier and shier with every word he spoke. "o-only if you want to, of course!" yamaguchi stammered, awkwardly chuckling as you stared at him, making his brain go haywire.

you eventually agreed, and, closing the closet door–you leaned against yamaguchi; your hands gently wrapped around his, your eyes looking up into his own. "are you ready?" you asked him in a whisper. yamaguchi's entire face was like a strawberry right now, he was red and spotted with his darling freckles, but being in the dark made it hard for you to notice.

"i've... never actually kissed anyone else... s-so..." "that's okay," you reassure him, placing your hand on his cheek. "i'll show you..." you muttered, leaning closer to him. yamaguchi's eyes shone with adoration for you, and he nodded; you could tell in a way that this boy was excited for your kiss, even if it made him incredibly flustered.

with that, you pressed your lips against his softly, and against your kiss, he let out a soft noise–a noise letting you know that this kiss... was more than he could ever ask for, was perfect, beyond perfect.

after the kiss, nishinoya, tanaka, and surprisingly, sugawara were frustrated they didn't get to see you kiss. sugawara was late to the party and didn't even know you two were in the closet kissing for a short while until ennoshita gave him a rundown of the events at hand; of course, mama sugawara is very supportive of his children's romantic affairs, so long as it was contained.

"so... how'd it go?" the gray haired senior asked you both, with you smiling and holding yamaguchi's hand, leaning your head against his shoulder, making the boy jolt up and get red all over again. "...was perfect..." yamaguchi mumbled out, melting into a puddle in his mind as you made him feel all giddy, with butterflies in his chest at the feeling and realization that he kissed you–or more like, you kissed him, and it couldn't be any better.
