One of my favorite things about Neku is that the game is very deliberate. He seems like just another edgy loner protagonist but then you get absolutely slapped in Another Day. Neku is actually depressed, nothing else, he faults himself so much for the death of his friend that he alienated himself from everybody.

Like... the game does this with Shiki and Beat also but the Neku one is just so... cuz yeah, the three of them are character archetypes very common in anime and JRPGs but then you get dragged for it. Cuz you, just as Neku, flattened their characters when they are complex people on their own.

smthn i think about a lot is in just the opening of the game where neku says "i got my values, so you can keep yours alright?" it just sounds like you can hear a hint of sadness after you know his full deal. the way he pauses whether intentional or not makes it seem like hes not sure if this is the right way to protect himself either but its all he can think of.

he tries so hard to bite at people to keep them away bc hes a kid hurting! he thinks if he lets anyone else close again he'll end up all alone. and i get it. i get it way too much bc thats exactly how i was and tbh i see myself still doing it now to a degree! no matter whether ur 15 or 50 we do things to protect ourselves no matter how nonsensical they really are bc pain is scary. no one wants to be left alone, so to make sure no one leaves you dont let anyone in TO leave. its miserable and i glad twewy also shows that theres still hope.

it doesnt just stop at being depressed and alone. you're not the only one and if you take that step no matter how terrified you are and make a connection? it gets a little easier to bear. the pain doesnt go away but there will be someone who can share it or at least support you and they will show you love and care in the meantime and even after that

“I seem to have been taken hostage.” Batman’s words almost had Superman panic if not for the wry tone, a tone which the others didn’t know if their freaking out was to go by. Clark sighed through the comms, tired after battle and honestly wanting to go to bed now.

“I’ll be right over, what child has latched onto you now?” He asked while switching to a more private channel. 

“I can already hear you making fun of me…” Wha- Oh. Clark bit his lip to keep himself from laughing as he took to the air. “They appear to be a pair of twins with…” 

“You gotta’ say it Bruce, you gotta’,” Clark couldn’t stop the chuckle when he saw his friend on the top of a building, cape curled around his form in a way usually reserved for the robins. 

“... with dark hair… and blue eyes…” That was it. Clark absolutely lost it in laughter.

Hi folks! Sorry I've been a bit awol lately! Holidays and all that. Also I've been going through a bit of a digital detox and I've been feeling INCREDIBLE because of it. It's making me feel more free. Makes me want to step back from the internet even more. I've gotten much more physically active, I've been working out and reading books and learning to cook... developing my own novel that I've been wanting to do for years! MAN. It's been really nice.

I don't have any plans to just stop Something Wonderful and not continue it, but it might be a while before the next post!

I have four additional (lower effort) doodles for the concept done cuz god DAMN did yall go nuts over the last post and while im slightly overwhelmed by the attention i am VERY appreciative of it

ANYWAY, TO THE DOODLES & CONCEPT RAMBLES

Firstly, i've decided that the Cosmo player will be able to move, but with a VERY limited range - a similar model to Razzle & Dazzle's vines but with thorns and maybe single thick vines rather than several smaller ones? That would act as how far Cosmo can go, and the place for other players to avoid or else they'll be damaged by Sprout

I also had the thought of maybe, Sprout could heal the Cosmo he takes? But only when he attacks one of the other players - so like a reverse of Cosmo's usual mechanic! One heart healed per player hit, maxing out at 2 hearts since the Cosmo can't get damaged while in Sprout's circle

Speaking of his heals - He wouldn't be able to do so! Even if he's able to reach a player without leaving the circle nor the other person getting damaged, he'll be stopped from using it since healing people damages him

And finally - The cosmo can try to leave, technically. But will be stopped each time up to a point. Eventually, though.. Sprout will become agitated. Why is his friend trying to leave? Why is he abandoning him like this? So, after enough attempts, he'll let him go... but he'll go on a rampage trying to kill everyone in sight. It is INCREDIBLY difficult to outrun him, and he has a very high attention span too. He's P I S S E D.

It is not advised for the Cosmo to try to leave Sprout

This is my first true comic I've ever made. I'm much too used to just doing character designs and portraits, so I'm stepping out of my comfort zone for this. Getting to blend my hyperfixations is the best part of being an artist ^_^;
