Backstory

Empress of the Galacion kai empire a empire that existed for many years spanning millenniums. Always victories in conquering worlds and such to expand the empire. All done with there army of machine giants called Talos. While she pilot a pilotable Talos. The original model and most powerful. The Galaxion conquer the crown jewel of the empire. When reaching earth she heard of Daijin Kabuki and its pilot. So she went out and challenge them. But learn that Saki couldn't really fit in there mech. Insulted on the thought of able to take over over such nonsense wouldn't do it for. So she post pone everything To get Saki back in shape.

Thoughts on both openings:

Velonica:

The drama of the music as well as the translucent but visually clear silhouettes of Ichigo in the opening sequence are just iconic

Then the beat drop, need I say more

They’re back on the rainbow road from Shoujo S, also with a character focus, but it’s also about character dynamics

I like the two still shots and one animated shot that’s twice as long as as the still shots

The groups of characters that are mostly just Captain and Lieutenant, but sometimes with add-ons

You’ve got Jushiro, Shunsui, and Nanao: the captains who have been close for a long time, as well as the lieutenant who’s a supported them in their less than legal activities

Mayuri and Nemu: a captain and his lieutenant daughter who he created

Renji and Byakuya: one of the main soul reaper dynamics this show focuses on, and it’s such a good one too

Unohana and Isane: a dynamic not explored often, but well established

Kenpachi, Yachiru, Ikkaku, and Yumichika: we know them, we know their dynamic

Tetsuzaemon and Komamura: also not a very explored dynamic. Why is the background just replaced with that one wave painting?

Toshiro and Rangiku: a goofy dynamic, we love to see it

Genryusai, Chojiro, Soi Fon, Izuru, and Shuhei: everyone else just goes here I guess. I was gonna say it’s squads 1&2 plus the orphaned lieutenants, but Omaeda’s not even here, it’s just Soi Fon. It really is just “everyone else ig”

Ichigo walking in the desert (because it’s always the desert) having his allies gradually fading in, starting with the allies he brought plus Orihime and Nelliel, who have gained along the way, and then continuing with the soul reapers who came to his aid? THAT’S THE SHIT

Menacing shot of Aizen, followed by a shot narrowing in on the ally shot, and then going back to Aizen’s with a shot of the 3 traitor captains

The gang! Running! Again! Love to see it!

Really though, I do love them fading into each other and rotating around the screen, it adds more motion to show that they are On The Move

Visored for a moment, followed by Kisuke & co

Love the drawn-style Ichigo animation of him swinging his sword

The shot with everyone on the street, with (almost) everyone grouped up: the Visored and Kisuke & co on the bottom right, the soul reapers who didn’t go to Hueco Mundo on the bottom left, the soul reapers who did go to Hueco Mundo on the top right, and Ichigo’s closest allies and friends on the top left (except Unohana and Isane are there for some reason, and Rukia went to the right to go hang out with her brother ig)

All of these people all looking to the center at Ichigo (except Omaeda, who doesn’t feel like it)

Panning up to the bright sky and sun, a symbol of hope, and then it’s Ichigo

Scar:

I. Do not like this opening.

The music is phenomenal but I just don’t like the opening

First: why pink? There are so many better colors.

My pick would be a sky blue, like the color of reishi, as symbolic of the Quincy focus (I saw a YouTube edit where they made it blue and I can’t find the link, but it looked so much better).

Or red, because that’s been a color associated with Ichigo, his hollow mask and sash featuring that color. It would also look almost like blood, for the Thousand Year Blood War

I would even like yellow better, as they brought that back as the color of Ichigo’s spiritual pressure

But why *pink*?

Anyway, I do actually like the focus on the core 4

The shots of all the squads surrounded by their squad’s flower? Actually pretty good imagery

Ichigo and Shiro taking each other’s hand, surrounded by swords is also good imagery

The way it zooms in to Old Man Zangetsu and continues zooming in to Yhwach? That’s good stuff

The brief focus on Uryu to highlight that he’s impacted by all of this as well

Then the focus of Yhwach zooming out to all the Sternritter (including Uryu) does a good job of showing them all without taking too long to focus on them

However, I do feel that Uryu joining the Sternritter was supposed to be a “Gasp! Why is he joining the enemy?!” surprise moment, but that gets spoiled here

I also have a problem with the fights being canon fights. Which is a weird thing to say, but hear me out. In most of the other openings, the fights have either been non canon ones to show off abilities, or big ones that have been being built up towards (Ichi vs Bya; Ichi vs Ulqui). Or else they’ve been attacks with no target, just to, again, show off abilities

But you’ve clearly got Ichigo vs Ebern, Renji & Byakuya vs As Nodt, Komamura vs Bambi, Soi Fon vs BG9, and Toshiro vs Cang Du, all of which are just canon fights, we don’t need to see them in the opening, we’ll see them in the show when we get there

Shunsui and Genryusai are fighting unspecified opponents, and I think that would have worked just as well if they’d done that for all of them

Brief shot of Squad Zero, which is a good way of saying “hey these are people that exist” without giving them a lot of focus

Fullbring Bankai Ichigo squaring off against Yhway, fading to him with his new double swords.

Final Vote: Velonica

Even if I wasn’t biased against Scar, Velonica is just more iconic and has more complexity, whereas Scar just shows you stuff that happens
