Ex: Xiao Zhan, Wang Yibo, Dylan Wang, Zhao Liying, Yang Yang, etc are all libra mars just to list a few and then there's Bai Lu (Cancer Mars), Angelababy (Taurus Mars), the list goes on and on and on.

BOJUNYIXIAO’s Weibo Night 2024/2025 Part I 🔮🟡🟱
here we are again with the boys’ yearly same-event appearance. a tradition of sorts at this point that cpfs look forward to. It’s fun to clown and speculate on what is happening behind the scenes cause they most likely will not be in the same frame. if you wanna look back on last year’s events then go here.
i know i said this recap will be done by the end of the night but i thought about how it would be too long to read. also, this is a breather why we wait for them be onstage cause thus ceremony is too long. lol. the next post by end of day will focus more on candies that happened during the show.

I. Getting tickets and Rumors of them going
as with other wb nights, tickets can be achieved through fan voting. compared to last year that was competitive for cpfs, this one was more relaxed. or maybe fans weren’t that interested in attending. cause there was so little news if the boys will even attend the event initially. i wanna say it was a pretty good mix of fandoms on the list. for cpfs, it was the fansites dominating as usual.
by 1/8 in the morning, we saw that both of them have won awards in their respective works: Xiao Zhan for his song "wo me " as Favorite Music of the Year" & Wang Yibo for starring in the movie "formed police unit" for "Weibo's Favorite Movie of the Year"; his personal documentary "Exploring New Unknown" winning "Weibo's Favorite Variety Show of the Year". these are automatically posted by weibo via the respective accounts involved and people can see it in the voting site for the event. then in the afternoon, melons started coming out that they will be going. and this is further solidified by wb night’s teaser post that seem to allude to gg & wyb. so before announcing, wb night shares cards with statements on it. each card representing a celebrity. and here comes the hilarious part, their cards were posted side by side on 20:32 (p1). for yibo it’s a short one, i am here. which alludes to his new song. and for gg it’s smooth sailing and good health which is his wish for the new year.

then at 1/9, very early into it, the re-issued the card sets and this time the two were separated. your guess is as good as mine on why this was done. lol.

weibo night never shied away from the whole xz and wyb cp before when it was considered “acceptable”. here is an example of an actual post back in 2020 where they even used the GGDD nickname for them. at the time, it was okay cause they were the hottest “pair” with cql as a breakthrough drama. personally, i think weibo night was being very sneaky initially posting it that way. trying to drum up an audience but then so/os had to go ahead and be salty about it so it had to be split. i’m not gonna stop saying it, a reason why very little interaction is done between them — it’s partly to not upset their “fans”. it is what it is. solo fandoms in c-ent is serious business & something very understandable in an industry perspective.
but again, that’s just me and maybe cpfs reading too much into it. feel free to have your own interpretation.
II. The Official Announcement
On 1/9 at 11:30 yibo posted that he is attending the event. yibo-official also shared some reminders to not gather and disrupt public order when they go. A coincidence cause at the same time XZ posted about his Portrait magazine. which makes sense and may not be even about cpn but it’s still nice to get notifications from them on weibo 😂😂😂
Then at 15:54, XZ finally posted. XZS also came in and shared it with the reminder.

and so it was confirmed that they are both attending the ceremony. this day was also kinda busy for them cause wyb’s loewe campaign was also released and gg had his portrait magazine interview also out.
it’s safe to say that cpfs were pretty busy ^^
after that, later in the evening, their video messages were also published by weibo night. here is a combined video of that:
1/10, as expected, there was a lot of chatter on who will be attending — particularly the CPs who will be there. it is relevant in the sense that there are a couple of hot drama CPs that will be attending. but with all the polls from various blogs, the top vote is always BJYX. lol. so strong!

III. Pre Show
WYB started off pretty early by posting a teaser of his look for the night. some are saying it reminds them of what he wore for 11.11 night when XZ was also there.

There was also a video showing the seating arrangement. It appears that they only have 4 people separating them. tho it’s not a guarantee of anything but this is close! some don’t like the number assigned for yibo tho cause it’s row 2 seat 27. 227. ugh.
It doesn’t stop there tho!!!!!
there is a photothat the number was folded up so it won’t be visible. it was removed by staff (video). cpfs are crying over this cause it may have been requested to be removed by wyb due to the negative connotation. he also changed positions with LX. he really went that far! people are saying that it’s easy to change seats, so why did the number have to be torn apart? there is no need to do that. also, changing seats with LX means WYB will be away from the center so it does not benefit him. idk who gave that number to WYB, but he definitely won’t be used to bully XZ or start some bad rumor. he is truly a boss! he protects xz in ways like this. i cannot 😭😭😭😭😭
i love this comment about it: wyb is not only sitting in that position, he wants that number to disappear.
and oh, Tod’s is one of the major sponsor of Weibo Night. XZ’s ad is playing on the big screen of the venue. Will WYB see it? lol

i’m gonna put this candies here cause they seem to be “red carpet related”. but i’m really cackling over how we manage to put their outfits together as “marriage” outfits once more 😂😂😂😂 lol. cause xz is in red and wyb in black.

Regarding CPN discussions, questions and comments

Several times over the past few days I've had to remind people about a boundary I have around discussions of CPN, so I feel it might be a good time to remind everyone of this so that everyone is on the same page.
I'm always preaching that CPN is for turtle's eyes only. It isn't meant for wider consumption by solos or passersby. This is for the protection of turtles and of GG and DD. When CPN crosses over into other areas, it pretty much always leads to fan wars and anti activity.
One of the measures that I feel passionately about in connection with this is the notion that
CPN should never be discussed in posts that are tagged with GG and DD's individual names.
There are a couple of really good reasons for this:
It's part of staying in our own lane. Solos follow the tags for GG and DD's individual names, and if CPN is discussed in those posts, solos can stumble across it and create problems. I have faced a lot of harassment in the past - including the recent past - from solos because of this very thing, and it's not fun. Fan wars are never good, but especially not when I become a target for hate through no fault of my own. If you talk about CPN in the comments of my posts, I am going to be the one attacked for it, not you.
Posts tagged with their individual names are for celebrating their individual works and achievements. There's plenty of space for clowning elsewhere.
All that I ask is that before you comment to discuss CPN in the notes of one of my posts, please double check that it is not tagged with 'xiao zhan' or 'wang yibo'. If it is, submit your comment or question to me as an ask, contact me privately about it, or find a post on my blog on a related subject that is tagged with 'bjyx' or 'yizhan' and comment there.
You can also feel free to make a post about it in the Yizhan Tumblr community.
Please also feel free to do whatever you want, take whatever risks you want, and embody your own values around this topic on your own blog, including reblogging my individual posts with whatever commentary you want. Feel free to use whatever tags you want and to discuss whatever you want in a reblog. Just please don't comment with CPN in posts on my blog that are tagged with their individual names.
A note on reactions
Some people really take it personally and get bent out of shape when I make this kind of request. This is by no means a rare reaction. The majority of turtles who I mention this to in response to CPN comments in the notes of these posts respond in a negative way. Some even unfollow or block me for it.
I don't understand why anyone would be offended by a boundary I set for my own well-being online, or why anyone would take personally a decision that I have made for my own well-being.
I have had a lot of harassment and hate thrown at me over the years, and due to a lifetime of being singled out, I am especially sensitive to bullying. It's just not something I want in my life, and I will seek to avoid and prevent it at all costs. Please respect my needs in this regard.
As importantly, we really do need to stay in our own lane to try to maintain some measure of harmony between fandoms, and to avoid fan wars.
This is not a new boundary - I've been stating it for years. @accio-victuuri has been saying this for years as well. It is by no means unusual for this request to be made by turtles. It is a best practice for avoiding fan wars.
So please try to be understanding about this. I would never make a request of someone if I didn't have a good reason.
I don't state these things to make you feel bad in any way. Nor do I hold it against you if you make a mistake. I'll just remove that comment and explain to you why I've done so. Don't take it personally. I appreciate people's engagement with my posts, and do not want to make anyone feel alienated. I do my best to express myself in a kind and understanding way.
I hope you will extend me the same courtesy.

Wei Wuxian is keeping himself upright through sheer force of will and his utter refusal to let Lan Zhan be right about anything.
He has been sort of exhausted lately, but he’s been training himself into the ground and keeping to ridiculous Lan morning routines and he has a curse mark slowly killing him, so he thinks he’s entitled. He would have made it to the Jin tower just fine if he hadn’t run into Song Lan and had to hunt down a town fierce corpses and fight Xue Yang. That alone would leave most people exhausted, so he has a perfectly good excuse for his vision to be going fuzzy on the edges.
Except he’d literally rather fall off his sword and snap his neck then admit that. He can’t even let that happen, because A-Qing is flying on his sword with him, and she’s not even a cultivator. Her bones will break a lot easier than his will.
He’s not even injured. Or, well, not any injuries that count. He once fought off fierce corpses right after having his core ripped out, being tortured, and dropped from a height high enough to kill. Some bruises and cuts are nothing, and they don’t feel like anything now. Maybe he should have let Xue Yang stab him a couple of times. It would have made everything more believable and also would have let him nap with his dignity intact.
They land back at the inn and the rest of the Lans look extremely relieved and then confused when they see their newest additions. Except for Jin Guangyao, who only shows that he’s noticed them by raising a single eyebrow and looking to him immediately.
Jin Guangyao is a stone cold bitch that’s too smart for anyone’s own good. Wei Wuxian sort of regrets that they’d never had any reason to really get to know one another during the war. Surely Jin Guangyao could have steered him away from some of his worse decisions.
“We’re bringing guests,” he announces to all of them, jumping to the ground and nudging A-Qing to do the same with a guiding hand on her hip. “Song Lan and Xiao Xingchen, who I assume you all already know. And A-Qing. They’ve had a rough time and we’re going to be very nice to them.” He looks over to Lan Xichen. “I guess it’s a good thing that you brought the carriage. They can ride in there the rest of the way.”
The awkward silence is broken by Jin Guangyao saying, “Madame Jin is not fond of accommodating extra guests.”
Madame Jin is going to make Jin Guangyao deal with it because she’s petty that way. Apparently Jin Zixuan plays interference as much as he can, but considering he’s no longer fighting fit and the perfect heir he once was, his ability to influence his mother has been similarly reduced.
A politician down to her core. Wei Wuxian might be able to admire it if it didn’t make him hate her so much.
“I’m not fond of Madame Jin, so I’m sure it even outs,” he says carelessly.
Some of the Lan go to the effort to pretend to be appalled but most of them seem to have no problem agreeing, regardless of all the rules of propriety and respecting one’s elders that he’s breaking. People take their cue from their leaders and Lan Xichen is straight up just pretending he didn’t say that, probably because he agrees.
He’s treated to the rare sight of Jin Guangyao’s dimples. “Can you at least pretend not to be a menace? I can only put out so many fires at once.”
“I can pretend,” he agrees and then A-Qing is faking a coughing fit to hide her giggles.

Director Jiaozi and the Chinese Animation Industry
If you’re on my page it probably means you’ve seen my endless gushing about Ne Zha 1 and 2. I’ve always been a huge fan of domestic animation (domestic for me meaning China) as well as international Japanese and Western animation.
In particular, I admire big blockbuster animated films that managed to both convey cultural, artistic and spiritual messaging through a medium as notoriously finicky as animation.
Some of my favourite animated movies (I think this is an opinion held by every animation fan) are the Spiderverse series (despite not being a Spiderman fan) and the Ghibli movies of my youth. 
Being Chinese, though, I grew up with 2D animated TV shows that cemented their place in my upbringing. Shanghai Animation Studio movies such as Ne Zha Conquers the Sea 1979,

are all iconic parts of growing up as a Chinese.
Chinese animation has never been widely acclaimed on a global scale the way Japanese animation and sometimes Western animation have. The domestic animation industry is made entirely up of passion projects, which can seem great until you realise passion projects don’t typically tend to make money.
In a film industry as hyper-competitive and critical as China, most animation projects never tend to make it far. Art and music, while highly respected once you achieve success, have high barriers to entry. Chinese people are very critical of artistic work because of thousands of years of artistic development.
You may have heard of a recent animated film in China called A Mermaid Summer (or however it was translated). 2 people spent 7 years making it- the movie was bullied to oblivion.

A Mermaid Summer is, quite frankly, shit. It’s terrible. The animation is bad, the storytelling is bad, the voice acting is bad. It was, however, a passion project made by like 2 people on their own- people understand why it’s bad, and it’s not like we expected Oscar-worthy visuals.
Does this seem incredibly harsh to bully these two hardworking people? YES, it does! And it IS harsh and mean!
Understand that thousands of beautiful works (made meticulously and with great care) receive little to no attention in the domestic industry, made by equally small teams as A Mermaid Summer but with much higher quality.
The creators weren’t seasoned pros and definitely didn’t deserve to be bullied so much, but it would’ve honestly been much better if they had scrapped it. (They had actually considered starting over but decided to keep going, which I think wasn’t a good decision). 
Putting out a bad product is never better than taking your time, even if it takes you a lifetime.
I tell you about A Mermaid Summer to establish some baseline rules in the Chinese film industry and how Chinese people want films to be made (both animated and non-animated):
It does not matter how long it takes. The end product has to be good.
If the product is bad, NO MATTER how beloved the director/idea/IP/characters are, it’s going to flop.
In an animated movie: either the animation has to be great, or the plot has to be great. If you have one or the other, it’s meh. If you have both, yay! You cannot, however, get away with having both be mid.
If the product is bad, no one cares how much work you put in or how sad your circumstances are: there is going to be ZERO people complimenting or watching your work. Results speak, not effort.
Doesn’t this seem very strict? That’s because it is, but it’s the reality. Recently a movie came out based on the beloved novel series by Jin Yong, called Legend of the Condor Heroes. Condor Heroes is probably one of China’s biggest ever IPs.

Its fans are everywhere. My parents love Jin Yong’s novels and so do 80% of China’s population. It’s as big as Harry Potter, basically, just for a different audience.
The actors in the movie are all popular too. Xiao Zhan, Leung Ka-fei, Ada Choi are all big-names.
However, Legend of the Condor Heroes completely flopped. The art direction and writing was bad and the acting was mid. The movie industry is not like the TV drama industry: if your movie is bad, NO ONE CARES if the actors are hot or if the IP is big, it will flop.
In this harsh environment, animated films especially struggle. We’ve seen a severe lack of good Chinese animated films. Is this critical culture to blame? Certainly part of the problem, but it’s also (somewhat sadly and ironically) what drives people to want to excel.
A very tough love solution. 
This is why it is especially shocking and especially impactful that Ne Zha 2 is doing so well.
Ne Zha 2’s director’s stage name is Jiaozi (which means dumpling). His real name is Yang Yu. I will call him Jiaozi, though. 
He graduated from med school in a fairly-prestigious university in Sichuan. Everyone knows how rigorous med school is. While he was studying, he spent every night holed up in his dorm figuring out the basics of animation. After graduation, he didn’t go to work- he spent three years living basically in his mother’s basement trying to make an animated film. 
A very, very classically doomed story. However, against all odds, he did it. He released a 16-minute animated short in 2008 called 打打äžȘć€§è„żç“œ (or See Through).

It’s available on YouTube and it has a total of 0 lines of dialogue. This short, however, went viral for its anti-war, anti-hate and anti-propaganda message. It won a lot of domestic and international awards. 
Through those three years he spent making See Through, he lived off his mother’s retirement fund of 200 dollars a month (1000 yuan), bought virtually nothing, and worked 14 hours a day.
See Through didn’t garner him instant success. After all, it was just an animated short. Within a year it wasn’t really mentioned anymore. He did, however, get his foot in the door.
Ne Zha is one of the biggest IPs in China. He has the most film/anime/comic/game adaptations after Sun Wukong (that’s including Dragon Ball and all the Dragon Ball spinoffs). 
Jiaozi basically made Ne Zha 1 on two cents and a dream. The movie was low-budget (I’m talking 22 million) and in interviews, he revealed he had no money to hire a motion capture expert or a voice acting coach, so he did all of this himself. He even voice-acted some of the characters to save on costs.
The entire cast was unknown VAs. The animation was done by newbies just entering the industry. This movie was the definition of cutting costs.
Against all odds, it succeeded. Ne Zha 1 won fans over with its humour, stellar character-building and refreshing message. It became the highest grossing film of that year and catapulted Jiaozi into fame. 
Almost as soon as Ne Zha 1 succeeded (within a year), Jiaozi began work on Ne Zha 2. 
If you compare pictures of Jiaozi before and after producing Ne Zha 2, you can notice he looks like he’s aged a lot more than 5 years.

Jiaozi has said he’s an extremely introverted person prone to anxiety, and that he’s a huge perfectionist to the point where it’s harmed both his professional and personal life.
He outsourced many of the more complicated scenes on Ne Zha 2 to top foreign production companies. You can see their names (Korean, Indian, Japanese, American etc) in the end credits of Ne Zha 2.
However, he said in an interview that because the project was coming from mainland China (which, as we’ve established, has a fairly weak animation industry), these foreign companies sent only their lowest-rate animators despite the high rates Jiaozi was paying them.
As such, Jiaozi had to redo most of these scenes from scratch with domestic groups.
Hundreds of animation studios in China joined to work on Ne Zha 2. Jiaozi invested almost all the money he made off the first movie back into the second one. These workers were young, passionate newcomers to the industry- they once again didn’t have the budget to hire seasoned pros despite the much looser spending constraints.
The studios that joined Jiaozi worked at low rates (sometimes not even breaking even on labour costs) to produce Ne Zha 2.
5 years later it happened. Ne Zha 2 is making an incredible amount of money. 
Most people are worried about the pressure the success of Ne Zha 2 is putting on Jiaozi- about a week ago he officially announced he’s stopping all interviews and publicity for Ne Zha 2 to go into “seclusion” to work on the 3rd movie, before 2 even finished airing. 
He’s been working extremely unhealthy hours for over a decade. However, the results have paid off. That’s all we can say, I guess.
The reason why many Chinese adore Ne Zha so much isn’t just because the movies are good- it’s because the movies are good enough that they basically became hope for the future of the domestic animation industry.
A *relatively* small company (not small anymore, considering how big they’re probably going to get in the future) managed to make 2 of the highest grossing films in Chinese history and one of the highest-grossing films of all time. Jiaozi has made more in box office sales with 2 full-length movies than most directors with over thirty or fourty.
It’s incredible that what seemed like such a doomed journey turned out so fantastically. Many young Chinese animators now dream of working with Jiaozi, or becoming like him.
Of course, Jiaozi isn’t perfect. He’s at the very least extremely talented, probably a “genius” (or however you define genius) and incredibly hardworking. 
His workers describe him as a nightmare director not because he’s rude but because he is incredibly nitpicky and has seemingly impossibly-high standards. He’s also a little bit of a douchebag (he made a short film called The Boss’s Woman that’s pretty misogynistic but it was never formally released). 
However. You can’t deny that Jiaozi has accomplished what decades of animators before him haven’t been able to. Ne Zha 2 is the greatest animated movie in history. That’s incredible for the Chinese animation industry, which before Ne Zha has never been able to get a stable footing.
Some other Chinese animated movies I recommend as well as some notes.
As a general rating marker: I rate 
Ne Zha 1: 7.5-8/10
Ne Zha 2: 9/10
The Shawshank Redemption: 9.5/10
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King: 9/10

All About Virgo Moon in the ‘Mercury Persona Chart’
Persona charts are essentially a mini natal chart for each sign in your chart, and it gives you more insight and depth into each sign
For example: Your moon sign will become your sun sign in the moon persona chart
How to calculate it:
Search ‘Free astrological chart selection’ then click on the one under astro.com website
Under ‘Chart type’, change it to ‘Persona Chart’
Click ‘Show the chart’
I like to think of domicile planets in the persona charts from a natal chart perspective; in the mercury persona chart, any virgo or gemini placements are domicile.
For example, rather than cancer moon and libra/taurus venus being domicile, virgo/gemini moon and virgo/gemini venus would be domicile, specifically in the mercury pc
So Virgo moon in the mercury pc would have an easier time expressing their thoughts bc it’s the ruler of mercury

okay but you know what shocks me? I entered MDZS fandom this year after years of avoiding it. My experience of it from an online perspective was: god. this fandom is insanely loud. With "Sexy Times with Wangxian," erotic fanart, cuts of the scene where Xiao Zhan falls off the cliff, blood om his lips and Wang Yibo holds him (the worst acting and shooting in the whole series) and a bunch of my mutuals from other fandoms going "gege," I thought: must avoid.
But this year, I sorta was done with writing fiction for my main fandom and my friend was watching the Untamed so I decided to watch it with her; and it was like, cool. A lot of cool things. Then I find out the manhua and read quotes of the novel and clips of the audio drama and I'm in - hook, line and sinker. But it's when I get introduced to the main plotline and start dissecting the layers of narration that I realize I've truly found a gem, haha.
Every day I add free time to my sched to just chill; everyday I go like "I'm going to summon my Lan Zhan spirit and get my shit done" and when I'm scared I think of Wei Ying and his dauntless spirit; personally i dont like idolizing people. Wangxian are fictional but they have very complete characters. Being good didn't take away their misery. They weren't stupidly idealistic, in fact, their thoughts about the world were similar to mind but my actions aren't yet similar to theirs; but I'm getting there. It's just comforting to find a novel they captures how you think about the world and happiness etcetera or even love.
I can relate to Wei Wuxian by having many friends and being sort of their caretaker and also to Lan Wangji at being someone who doesn't speak unnecessarily a lot? And how sometimes you wish to find someone who's similar to you, but allows you to loosen up without pushing your boundaries. I can relate on how their love was borne out of firstly attraction, then understanding and respect, shared ideals and how I too avoid saying it's love until it's right in front of my face and then I realize I've been a fool, haha. Like, I call Wei Ying oblivious (I dont) but I was kissing girls and I didn't even know liking them was an option!

Bad Habits Chapter 16 Preview
I know I left on a tough cliffhanger and I've been a bit busy...February is a tough, busy month for me, but I hope you all enjoy! A little clip from Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji's talk...
When Wei Wuxian stepped inside, golden eyes shot up looking at him cautiously. He couldn’t blame the man. After all, he had driven him away and kept his distance. Lan Wangji had been respectful of that. He had given him time. Wei Wuxian tried to give him a reassuring smile as he walked up, but he knew it fell flat. He didn’t know how to put a good mask on in front of Lan Wangji and he found he didn’t want to hide himself.
“Lan Zhan,” he said in greeting. “Thanks for meeting me.”
“Of course,” Lan Wangji said. “You asked for time, but I’m grateful that you’re keeping your promise to talk.”
Of course Lan Wangji would think he was making good on a promise. He didn’t know where to begin, so he deferred to the menu.
“Let’s get some food first. You said you hadn’t eaten and I could eat too. What’s good here?”
Lan Wangji made some recommendations and Wei Wuxian and him settled on what they wanted. The food arrived and as Lan Wangji said, it was delicious. Wei Wuxian actually enjoyed a meal for the first time in weeks. He could feel Lan Wangji watching him while they both ate and he tried not to let it bother him. Once they were done, he knew he couldn’t avoid the conversation any longer.
“Lan Zhan,” he said, getting his attention, not that he had lost it in the time they’d been here. “I’m so sorry about what happened. I know we talked about me having panic attacks, but things were going so well that I didn’t look ahead and prepare you for how bad they could be.”
“You did warn me, Wei Ying, but I could have done some of my own research on it. I’ve been looking into it since then that way next time I can help you.”
That made him feel a bit worse. Xiao Xingchen was right that Lan Wangji had been ill prepared to help him. He was trying not to let the guilt eat at him though. He couldn’t linger on how he failed, only that he learned from it and moved forward.
“I’m also sorry that I hurt you. I really wasn’t in my right mind. I’m ashamed to admit it, but it was a nightmare with Wen Chao
I really couldn’t differentiate between reality and my dream. Even when you were talking all I could here was his voice. I was
embarrassed by the whole thing.”
“Wei Ying,” he said reaching out to carefully lay his hand over Wei Wuxian. The contact made his heart flutter a bit. It was warm against his skin and helped to ground him. “I can understand why you reacted the way you did. You thought that you were in danger
that your son was in danger. Preservation won out.”
Wei Wuxian shook his head in denial. “It still doesn’t change the fact that you were hurt by it. I fought you, Yuan kicked you, and then instead of facing you and explaining, I forced you out
.kept my distance. I only thought about myself
my guilt and embarrassment. I’d understand if you were upset with me
if you decided I was too much trouble. You deserve better.”
He felt a gentle pressure on his hand. It wasn’t constricting and in fact it was reassuring. He let his eyes finally take a look at Lan Wangji. While the other man had a concerned look on his face, he was calm even relieved. Wei Wuxian expected him to be angry, upset even.
“You went through something terrible and it’s only been a few years. Healing takes time, some days are better than others. Even I struggle with my own personal experiences and traumas. I cannot
will not be angry or upset with you for needing space or needing whatever it is you need to work through your own thoughts and emotions. I was upset, more at myself for being unable to help you when you needed it. I did not like how helpless I felt during and after. For the first couple of days after, I kept wondering what I could have said or done to have the events turn out differently. Now that I have seen it, I have a better idea of what to expect and now that I’ve researched it, I know how to better help you.”

What big day is August 5? Last year, this day was the 12th anniversary of the New People's Party; it was also the birthday of Wang Yibo, a top star in the mainland.
Wang Yibo has a deep connection with Hong Kong. He was born in 1997, when Hong Kong returned to the motherland. I still remember that he sang a song "Stand Up" for Hong Kong on the 25th anniversary of the return; on July 1, 2023, he personally came to Hong Kong to attend the "Greater Bay Area Film and Music Gala" "The Moon Rises in the Bay Area", but unfortunately it did not cause much response at the time.
Although he is not a popular idol of Hong Kong people, friends who pay attention to the mainland entertainment industry know that Wang Yibo is a top star in the mainland entertainment industry; he has extraordinary dancing skills, and his status as the "King of Dance" in the mainland is unquestionable. China’s “danmei” genre is booming in the West
The article “How to Tell Chinese Stories Well” (July 14) overlooks an important genre that is growing in popularity in the West and is more reflective of contemporary Chinese life than works from decades ago such as Shanghai Life and Death or The Wild Swans.
I am referring to the danmei genre of online novels. Danmei is a term that originated in Japan. This new genre has spawned a number of very successful online novels that have been adapted into extremely popular Chinese TV series and translated into English. A prominent example is The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, which was adapted into the Chinese TV series The Untamed in 2019 and translated into English and is available on Amazon.
Untamed made two young actors, Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo, famous in China. Another very successful work is Erha and His White Cat Shizun, which made the New York Times bestseller list in English. The English version has a wide readership in the West and is available in paperback.
Danmei novels celebrate “boys’ love”, which is officially frowned upon. A major production based on Erha, produced by Tencent, has been shelved. But the genre has a large following in China and abroad, inspiring fan art, fan works and merchandise.
Many danmei online novels are written by women for women. Why are they so popular among Chinese women? Their popularity reflects the frustrations of contemporary Chinese women: they are trapped between traditional, realistic, family-oriented marriage concepts and a desire for romance and true love, as celebrated in danmei novels. Such novels have become a channel for their fantasy and escapism. Surprisingly, these novels have also been loved by Western audiences.
While TV series based on such novels have been banned, animated versions of some popular works are still in production. The resilience of the genre, which is seen by the authorities as a departure from the official "main melody" works, reflects the delicate relationship between the authorities and the artists who create them. Most of the time, the authorities have the upper hand, but the ban has not stopped private enterprises and creative talents from finding space for the genre to thrive. Can we call it the authorities' "one eye open, one eye closed" attitude?
* this is a short but very interesting take on the whole thing. she is not even mentioning how TGCF is so popular in the mainland and continues to do so with it’s donghua and manhua. i guess it’s really one eye open and one eye closed and i hope it stays that way so that this genre will continue to thrive! i’m not holding that much expectation for the live action versions tho.

Here's a bit more fandom history for everyone.
It's been a long time since I've heard this incident talked about, but I guess turtles are reminiscing a bit about the kind of things GG's fans subject him to, and this has come back up.
Back in 2019 when GG was in Nanjing for The Untamed fan meet, a hotel staff member left this adorable Jianguo pillow with a little note 'from Jianguo' wishing him success with the concert. GG clearly enjoyed it because he posted it on his Oasis.
At first shrimps were enjoying it because they assumed it was a shrimp who'd done it, but when they realized it was a turtle they freaked out and launched a major cyberbullying campaign against the turtle and flooded the hotel with hundreds of phone calls complaining and trying to get her fired. Some of them threatened to keep calling the hotel every day and overwhelm the phone lines until she was fired.
GG had no choice but to delete the photo. He replaced it with a solid black image, and put the line, "post whatever you want" in his profile.

Just imagine how awful he must have felt, that his fans attacked and harassed a sweet fan who'd made him a lovely gift, nearly getting her fired - all from a post he made showing his appreciation for this cute, thoughtful gift.
If you wonder why GG and DD don't acknowledge turtles and why GG hasn't mentioned XFX by name in years, this is a bit of a clue as to why. GG especially has a lot of reason to be wary of being too personal and open with fans (and no doubt 227 didn't help with that at all). GG and DD know that acknowledging turtles will only harm them and lead to more hate and war from solos.
And GG has repeatedly said - including in his statement on the anniversary of 227, which was the first time he made a direct personal statement about it - that he doesn't believe anyone should identify as "I am ___'s fan."
"I want to tell my fans, everyone has the right to like and hate. No matter if you like or hate, it should be respected and allowed in their own spaces. Of course, this right should be based on rationality and not hurting other people, while following accurate values. I hope that my fans can understand that no matter what field or age, your personal likes and actions shouldn't cross the line or go against that field's ethics or morals. No matter if it's on the Internet or in real life, everyone should be responsible for their own actions. Even more, hope that none of us should be represented by the label 'xxx's fan.'"
GG realizes something that XFX can't seem to get through their heads: when you speak of "fans of Xiao Zhan," that is not synonymous with "XFX," no matter how much they would like everyone to believe that they're his only fan group. Actually, turtles are GG's fans also, as are all people who love and support GG, regardless of how they identify themselves and regardless of how deep or casual is their appreciation for him.
So pretty much ever since this era, and especially after 227, you never hear GG refer to his solo fandom by name. And I don't think that's because he has contempt or disregard for them (although I don't doubt he must harbor 'feelings' about everything they've put him through), rather I think it's because he wants to be inclusive toward all of his supporters, and not let it be thought that he doesn't appreciate everyone, regardless of 'affiliation'.

BL I think is overrated:
SOTUS - please don't come for me! I just can't get along with the whole hazing rituals thing, and they were very much the focus of a lot of this. There was a lot of yelling. And it's so vastly different from the way they do things in this country. And Krist is a sweetie IRL but this character was just not for me, you know?

BL I think is underrated:
To My Star - it has a more nuanced take on adult relationships and communication difficulties than a lot of BLs, and I really enjoyed that. The pain of wanting something and yet somehow sabotaging yourself is so real, and the sequel was a similar exploration of the mess we sometimes make as adults just from anxiety and being bad at communicating, and the interesting way it's filmed as well. I just really loved them both so much. The absolute heartache of this moment when SeoJoon decides to look through the old photos... 😭

Favourite trope:
If it's done well, hands down it's enemies-to-lovers. The more realistic the enemies part feels, and the longer it takes to resolve, the more delicious the payoff when they finally, finally cave. When they just absolutely can't overcome their feelings any more. That final submission is so, so sweet. The anticipation of it arriving... ugh, I love it. Even better if it's something like the Bad Buddy rooftop scene, where they both finally give in, but one of them is happy about it and the other is devastated. The sweetest trauma. I love it.

Favourite male actor:
Gods this one is difficult. For BLs... Tul? Ohm? Jeff? I'll basically watch anything they're in because they don't miss. I would also possibly kill a man if it meant they'd give Earth Katsamonnat some kind of Diva role because I haven't always liked his other roles but it's so clear he would absolutely slay if they gave him the opportunity to top.
Just generally though, I have tremendous amounts of respect for Wang Yibo. I mean clearly he's a snack, but after Untamed it seemed a little like he was less respected than Xiao Zhan because he was portrayed as a bit more laddish and less serious, but he worked so fucking hard for everything, and has carved out a really respected place in the dance community as well as in tv and film. He can do stoic, panicked, fighting, funny, cool... the man has range. I like it.

The Longest Promise - Episode 3

So like I said last episode, I’m not too sure about this drama. So far the story is alright. Xiao Zhan’s great, but we don’t know much of his character yet. Ren Min... her character annoys me. And we haven’t really started yet. So I fear it might be a painful watch. But here, we go through everything, even though it’s painful. I mean, I hated Eternal Love of dream and I went through the 56 episodes. This one has 16 less. I should survive, no?
So last time, Shi Ying was using magic after Chongming told him to kill Zhu Yan. But it wasn’t aimed at her, it was at some dark figures in the back. Probably sponsored by creepy masked person in a black cape. Shi Ying fights against them while Chongming goes to get Da Siming. Zhu Yan is quite useless. She tries to use her fire to stop one of the people, but she ends up burning to ashes Xueying’s dress. Why would you even put it on in the first place? When Da siming and company arrives, the intruders run away. Shi Ying hides away Zhu Yan, since she didn’t leave. He hides the fact that he met with a girl to his master. Turns out the black cloak people are from the Ice clan. They don’t know how they could ever come in there. Wherever it is that Zhu Yan is hidden, she finds a Shi Ying and she keeps touching him, which affects the one outside. Miss, do you know anything about consent? And she wonders why... this man’s eyelashes are so similar to the ones of the prince she met years ago... That’s weird. There aren’t that many types of eyelashes. Definitely not on my list to try and recognize someone.
He gets her out of this hiding place and doesn’t really answer any of her questions. Then he erases her memories of their encounter and takes her back to her room. Chongming is really mad at him for not taking care of her, since he will die to her hand. Shi Ying has no intention of killing her. Chongming goes to check if she could be the one killing him. But she isn’t, according to her birthdate.
Xuelu gets into Diwang cave too. Chongming passes her out. Shi Ying notices she must be his cousin. So he asks her about his mom. She tells him she has no news, but she heard that she’s been mistreated. He erases her memories and sends her away while he goes to Da Siming, because he can’t let his mom live such a life. But then, he learns that in fear that he would put himself in danger to rescue her, Shi Ying’s mom ended her life. So he goes crazy and I’m so... undecided about this scene. I could totally feel Shi Ying’s pain, but at the same time... having him turn around while yelling and unleashing power... it seemed ridiculous. To me, this is like... a good actor’s skills being wasted by bad direction. Anyways, Da Siming says they need to take revenge for his mom. That guy... seriously. When she entrusted Shi Ying to him, she told him not to get revenge and to protect the world. At least respect her wishes when she sacrificed everything for the one goal of protecting her son.
Anyways, Da Siming doesn’t like he’s a good guy to me. He must have his own agenda. Anyways. He makes sure that Shi Ying sees how bad everyone talks of his mother after her passing. So Shi Ying decides he wants to avenge her, because the world doesn’t deserve her kindness since it’s filled with bad people. Rough summary. In anger, he sends Chongming away and even has all dark fume around him. They broke him.
And that’s it for now. We’re still settling in the plot. I don’t really understand the motives of half of the characters. The female lead isn’t very deep. Hopefully it gets better. We’re not impressed so far.

OTW Board Election Candidate Opinion
This is a very long, very opinionated post. A far cry from my usual. I will not be arguing or debating anyone on it. If we disagree, fair enough! I respect that. So all I ask is you not come for my neck either.
NOTE: Some words are fully censored due Tumblrs own TOS. Please note the Q&A is linked at the bottom for the uncensored version of her words.
That said, as I'm sure a lot of people have seen already, voting for the OTW Board has begun. And I've already seen a lot of people shouting not to vote in favor of Tiffany G.
And, I have to agree.
I, unfortunately, cannot partake in the vote, but I've done some digging anyway. Nothing better to do on a Thursday than voice my opinion into the void that is Tumblr.
Tiffany seems to be in favor of censorship. I say seems because this is just based on what's in front of me, she's not outright said so. Just barely brushed the surface of it.
But let's not get ahead of the game. Let's go through a minor breakdown of the Q&A
In the interview on August 1st, Tiffany stated;
"Well, I think a lot of external people are very concerned about the fact that some works contain child ****, p******** content, and other illegal content."
Let's be honest here folks - there's some truth to this. There are some works published on the site that are vile, or downright contain depictions that would be illegal in real-world scenarios. That is the cost of absolutely no censorship. I think the "Other illegal content" is...more of a grey area, considering the basis of fanfiction; partaking in fictional worlds and universes. For example; gambling under a certain age is illegal, but in the context of 'Kakegurui' clearly, their world doesn't abide by that same rule. That's a very basic comparison, but you get it.
My point? I definitely have opinions on the rampant written **** of children and p********, that I don't think should exist, but the third example is just too broad. Not to mention "External people are concerned." Censorship isn't going to solve that problem. External people are concerned with a tirade of things - the real problems, Gay things, violence, etc. That's how people think and act. What censorship will do, is cause a chain reaction.
One of the biggest reasons for this is a common argument; children are on AO3. Here's the thing - it is not the responsibility of the internet to protect or raise your child. It is not my job as an author to limit what I am writing to being "teen appropriate" because little Timmy went on AO3 and found explicit violence. (See; NC-17 ban).
Moving on, the next segment I want to dissect is this,
"OK this is a follow-up to the last question – people think we host child **** content and such things. This issue is actually closely related to the incident when our service is banned in my home country. It might also be helpful to clarify that to the public."
Firstly, let's start with that home country ban. In 2020, the Chinese government banned AO3 due to an incident regarding a drama, "The Untamed" and an RPF written for actor Xiao Zhan. While it does seem to be what initially started that downhill slope of the Mainland China AO3 ban, it actually seems to still exist more because of China's overall censorship.
I don't want to dwell on that particular part much. I don't know much about China's censorship beyond face value, and I don't know much about this incident specifically. If you want to know more, I encourage you to do the research. I encourage that anyway, really.
The second part though, "clarify that to the public", is a bit odd. Who is "the public"? AO3 has its own social media accounts, but I found AO3 through the author's crossposting on FF.net 5 years ago. Who exactly are we clarifying this for, and what are we clarifying? The public's opinion will vary wildly by country, or area, regardless. That's what makes the broadness an issue.
AO3 has always been a '100% inclusive space' which relies on the lack of censorship to sustain that stance. Take one of the biggest points; LBGTQ+ rep. We are constantly filtered out across the web, and across country borders on other sites. This ties into that chain reaction I mentioned, one domino falls and they all come down.
Trucking forward, here's a long segment;
"I support 100% “maximum inclusiveness of content”, yet there is always a boundary to everything. Since OTW is already an influential org, we need to protect our image and hold a better image to the public. I want the public to think of us as an inclusive and socially responsible community. So in general, we have to do something to change. Things like making the rating system more specific and obvious to users will be what I want to do.
Not really restricting the content being posted. I hope it is like more warnings and ratings for posting work so people know what to expect. And all of these are not surprising to people who do not wish to see this."
So, that's a LOT. And my first comment is that it feels contradictory, if only because of its vagueness. You agree with the maximum inclusiveness, but that there are always boundaries. Now, that in itself is true and not the issue - but where is the boundary? Where do you draw the line in the sand?
There is something I do agree with here though; better tagging. Not necessarily revamping what's already there, but giving more. I.e - the 'Underage' tag is very....not explanatory at all, until you open it and find..well, what you'd expected if you've read this far. But there are fiction, written about teens that include scenes like kissing. That's not bad, but it is considered Underage. Sometimes it makes it to the tag, sometimes it doesn't. But that's the issue - with that tag, you cannot differentiate the two except to read through the results.
I can't push this thought enough; I agree that some things on AO3 are just fucked, but censorship is such a slippery slide, that better ratings and tagging seems a much more reasonable route to go.
All in all, I think there are a couple valid points, but there are far to many that vaguely fall in favor of censorship. Once you begin to censor something, the domino effect will occur. Just look at the NC-17 ban on FF.net all those years ago. I was an avid user of FF.net as a kid. It's where I uploaded my first ever fic. But eventually, I moved on to AO3. Not because I was chasing the said NC-17 fics, but everyone else left because of the ban. The once...decently active community had dwindled some.
At the end of the day, it falls to those who can vote, and what you think is best. That's the point of a democratic voting system for the Board. This is just the opinionated rambling of some random guy on the internet.

I need to scream about Xiao Zhan's acting a little. I'm watching Ace troops and a scene just left me upset. That scene where Gu Yiye has gotten kicked out of the military, and they're about to move and then he freaks out when he can't find his uniforms and when he finally does his hand starts to shake so much he droppes his hat and isn't able to pick it up again. And then he starts beating himself up because his hand isn't working and he can't pick up a damn hat and just... The acting there is so good. All the pain, anger and frustration came through, hit me in the face like a brick, and left me in tears. Also, Gu Yiye and a'Xiu are absolutely precious together and the way she rushed to help him pick the hat up warmed my heart while I was sobbing. I love how she didn't pick the hat up for him and instead helped him pick it up. They are so sweet together.

Yes Xiao Zhan is phenomenal in Ace Troops. The different layers in acting and emotions were in my opinion, his best I've seen in his career till now. He embodies YiYe perfectly. That instance you mentioned when he was forced to quit, I cried so much! He was brilliant, and the actress who played A Xiu kept up with him so well. Xiao Zhan's hand tremors... every aspect of that scene is so precious, how being in the military is etched in every fibre of his being, and A Xiu's desire to support her husband by helping him get what's most important to him, in this case through a simple act of helping him pick the hat up instead of picking it herself. She understands his pain better than anyone.
Honestly this is a very well written and a healthy relationship. The couple actually had a lot to work on, A Xiu had her own insecurities with respect to her status and education, which Gu Yiye helped her through. Gu Yiye on the other had had his own scars, something he mentioned occasionally that A Xiu helped him heal emotionally and physically.
Another instance which I really would like to highlight, will be this one:
"Gu Yiye: The main responsibility for this incident should be borne by me and it must also be borne by me.
Axiu: I just ask you who wronged you? How could they do this to you? Don't they know that you are the most beautiful and brightest star in this unit"
Also I'd like to say I feel really happy seeing this Ask. In this app, not many have actually been watching any of XZ's other dramas other than Untamed. Ace Troops is a very hidden gem that should really not be missed if one is a fan of Xiao Zhan.

Thank you for answering my ask! I 100% agree with everything you said, there are a lot of ooc scene’s but like the one that probably bothered me the most is when Lan Wangji tries to stop Wei Wuxian from saving the Wen Remnants, like Lan Wangji in the novel would never done that in a million years. One of the biggest reasons why Lan Wangji loves Wei Wuxian so much is because Wei Wuxian always stays true to his heart and his beliefs no matter what people say and saving the innocent Wens is exactly doing that. Lan Wangji loves him because he shares the same beliefs as him and Lan Wangji stopping him from that doesn’t make any sense and to top it of they added the dramatic crying in the rain which makes it even more ooc. I have so much to say about cql but i’m bad at conveying my thoughts correctly and writing this has already used most of my mental power lol. But yeah like you said Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo are not to blame for this, they did everything they could and they were doing great at doing it. They did a great job showing the chemistry between wangxian and they deserve every praise they get. I enjoyed cql but it’s probably one of my least favorite adaptations. If people like it for whatever reason they are free to do so but i respect the novel way too much. I hope my rambling made any sense and i’m sorry for troubling you.

The scene when LWJ finds WWX taking the Wen Remnants away from the prison camps is one of the scenes I hate the most. It manages to completely misinterpret the characters of both LWJ and WWX. It makes LWJ seem like a hypocrite and WWX seem like a dumbass with no sense of self worth. When watching cql, I like to ignore LWJ before WWX's resurrection and just mentally substitute him with book LWJ. They didn't understand his character at all. With WWX, on the other hand, they seemed to understand him in one scene and completely misunderstand him in the next.
Book WWX doesn't need anyone to tell him what is right. One of my favorite quotes from the book is: “But, let the self judge the right and the wrong, let others decide to praise or to blame, let gains and losses remain uncommented on. I, too, know what I should and shouldn’t do.”. I feel it perfectly captures WWX's views of his own actions, his trust in his own judgement and, to me, it shows that WWX can give up everything he has in order to do what's right, not because he doesn't value himself, but because not doing so would cost him everything he is, and he knows which is more important. My biggest peeve with cql is that it constantly sacrifices character and plot for the sake of cheap angst (especially wangxian and the jiangs), fan service and to make certain characters more shippable (3zun). All of that would be fine if they didn't do it at a cost to characterization, plot and theme.
I have some fics that I personally like and recommend, but they might not be very new because I don't read a lot of MDZS fanfics anymore 'cause it's so hard to find anything without fannon JC in it. I put the links below:
