okay so I don‘r play DBD. frankly, I’d rather shuck myself like a cob of corn than subject myself to whatever nonsense rhe game’s playerbase is up to. the lore’s not my thing and some of the character choices make me wrinkle. but I like horror things and I have a vague understanding of how they play. and I have some opinions. so i’ll throw them here.

thsi only includes the original guys made for the game. no liscensed visitors! (If you are wondering though I like myers and pig for their gimmicks and xenomorph because I love women)

evan macmillian - the trapper

i am excruciatingly neutral on this guy. he is kind of John Killer, which makes sense for how much I dgaf, but still. his mask is cool as fuck, but his lore really doesn’t resonate with me. trapping is a fun gimmick but apparently he lends himself to a lot of campy playstyles, which doesn’t sound too fun. he just exists to me.

philip ojomo - the wraith

this guy’s just really downright miserable. he doesn’t even wanna be here. he just wants to work at a Denny’s and live alone with a cat or whatever. invisibility is neat and the big stupid bell ring for whenever he does it is really funny though. cool guy I just feel bad for his existence

max thompson jr - the hillbilly

iunno this guys concept and lore just rub me the wrong way. just feels tone-deaf. much like wraith i think we should just leave this guy alone and let him farm in peace. he’s had a rough go of it. letting him be just some normal guy would make everything feel less. ew.

really strong design-wise. really neat looking fungus plant lady. another one that really doesn’t wanna be here. like holy hell ma’am. maybe she and billy can go grill things together away from killing people for a big spider demon. otherwise I’m neutral on her too.

herman carter - the doctor

oh YEAH baby. this guy’s my MAN. he’s a complete SHITHEAD and is TERRIBLE and he’s very fun to watch. Electroshock Andy over here is the giggliest guy on campus and has some really funny builds and gimmicks and is also unreasonably complicated. jumpscare doctor is so fucking funny plus electricity themes are cool even if it is the endlessly fucked up existence of electroshock therapy and military-funded abuse, but what is horror without being a little slice of messed up reality? I never want to go near this man in my life.

anna - the huntress

I like her!! she’s pretty and fucked up. i like predator/prey motifs and she’s got a nice voice. my fav thing about her is the existence of orbital huntress. hilarious as hell. you can just cross-map bean someone with a hatchet to their skull. fuck yeah.

jeffrey hawk - the clown

he’s not even the cunty jester or joyous giggler kind of clown. he’s a freako with a thing for fingers that drugs people. i don’t want to be anywhere near this man in my life. fun short film though. damn good horror villian I just. ewwwwwwwwww

rin yamaoka - the spirit

she should be allowed to kill people actually. literally just some kid as far as I know. i’d be pissed off too if my dad got so fucked over by a company that he started killing people. living in the scary dimension and stabbing people sounds like a way better time than that. saw someone cosplay her once at a convention too and that was pretty neat.

the legion

genuinely wonderfully funny concept. these lot are just some kids that kill people as a hobby. they have a logo and listen to mixtapes while doing it and all. they’re spy mains that think they’re hot shit. the title is unreasonably cool for what they are. the fact they just have to like lie down and take a moment to go wheeze after using their ability is great too. they forgot to pack an inhaler or four to the scary dimension

adiris - the plague

frankly unreasonably badass design. ancient mesopotamian preiest that just like.vomits on people. i'm not too invested in whatever she's up to religion-wise i just think the fact she horfs up blood as a projectile weapon is sick as fuck. the censer as a melee is cool too

this is the spirits great great peepaw or something aparently. i do love the aestehtic of traditional japanese masks i just wish the mask here had the big ol' eyes and bigger teeth. he hits people with a big club too i guess. neutral on this bloke.

can this game be normal about facial differences for two fucking seconds . anyway te concept is neat i guess and i like how kicking the infant is so tempting within this game that theres apparently entire meme playstyles based aroud baiting people into kicking the baby, thus getting them out of position for you to go hit them with your scythe

ji-woon hak - the trickster

shame that yet another title that couldve been used for a cunty jester has been taken. oh well. at least we have this guy who's pretty neat. a whole thing based on the k-pop industry is a rlly oddball choice for a horror game, but i dunno i've heard that said industry can get pretty fucked and exploitative. also i like neon colours a lot. the whole bit with him making his synths out of samples of his victims which he goes on to put into his work is really neat i think. hes kinda just some guy though

carmina mora - the artist

alright. her design is really neat and i like all the ink and strong red and black colours and her weird claw hand she turns her hand into. but she is possibly the funniest design slip-up ever. she's chilean and from chile and her major thematic throughline is crows. apparently, chile is like, one of the only countries to not have crows in it. lmao

dredge!! dredge my friend dredge!! one of the three Creatures Buddies, dedge is like so fucking cute to me. thats a puppies dog. sure this puppies dog was formed from a dark fucked up ritual spawned from a jonestown situation and is the amalgam of hundreds of people stuck in a high-control cult enviornment, but consider that they're a puppies dog. i think if igave them a sugar cube things would be ok

alright she was definitley spawned from the result of a gaggle of designers throwing concepts at the wall and trying to shove them into a pile. a cut-throat millionare who kills ceos for fun, a comic book hero brought to life into a villian by the author's daughter, and a sci-fi high-tech conniving surveillance master murderer. i can respect that mish-mash design philosophy a lot but i'm otherwise also neutral. her little claw arm contraption thing is fun though

hux-a7-13 - the singularity

i really, really like hux! i'm a sucker for evil AI, especally one that's also getting into bioengineering and meaty mechanics. for a heartless killer who's hellbent on the kinda cliche goal of becoming the ultamite lifeform by assimilating others genetic info, he's actually kind of a smug snarky cunt. he calls people worms for no reason. he literally calls people annoying for screaming in pain. i think he and p03 would get along disastrously.

one banger to the next. unknown here is a wriggly strange mass that's a love letter to creepypasta, urban legends, found footage and perhaps even the more recent development of analog horror. a squirmy fella who steals voices and fucks over anyone who comprehends them. doesn't even wanna be in the scary spider dimension if i recall correctly. i love the disjointed voicelines that come across as them mimicking whatever they've heard, but they're definitley like.. sapient. i think they have a dashing smile and a lovely crawl.

this is the newest addition, and she's a doozy. scotish pirate lady with a big ol' dog she loves very much. i don't know much about her.. but apparently her dog's breed is like, a notably loyal and strong one used as a guard dog/ and the lady herself? oh my god she's so fucking pretty. the gold and red on the coat. her badass knife cane. im quaking in my boots for a variety of reasons. i don't find her scary, don't find any of this lot traditionally scary, but yknow. she/s still sick as hell.

okay idk if anyone remembers Ruth's brother Mercy but ive daydreamed more pieces of his lore this week which resulted in this murder-dog! Mercy is a partially zombified homunculus who is still loyal to his (horrible horrible) father despite everything it has cost him. Eventually after many reanimations and modifications, as less and less of Mercy's og body become usable, he is reduced to this sorry (but very cool) state. At this point his body is almost entirely mechanical+magical and his mind has all but gone from the vessel; leaving only a loyal beast. His father rechristened this beast "Lethal"; either to knight one of his greatest mechanical achievements or because even with his cruel apathy he could no longer recognize his son in the Thing he had made.

i imagine he moves in the coiling, twisting manner of the Xenomorph :3c like that gif where it twists outta a vent

i think ultimately i will find a way to give Mercy some kind of happy ending after all things are told. idk why i only make things worse for him.

I thought it might be cool if her blood fully “consumed” her by covering her body and giving her monstrous physical characteristics. conceptually I image the consistency to be a mix of fluidity like venom with hard bone structure like the xenomorphs from the alien movies(?)

omgggg i'm blushing and twirling my hair... you have such a knack for design, i love the idea of corruption progressively warping the user's body in exchange for further strength. since it's a physiological characteristic inherited from the dark continent, i could see that being an unexpected side effect?? the otherworldliness of the design works so well. your linework + inking get across your take on corruption perfectly, it looks more fluid in some areas and harder in others... it feels narratively fitting for her fully embraced corruption form to Literally transform her into the weapon she's always been brought up to be HHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Movie Review – Aliens: Romulus

A Facehugger Love Letter in an Overlong Package

So. Aliens: Romulus.

It was… fine.

And I don’t mean “fine” like “it’s fine, I’m fine, everything’s fine” with flames in the background and trauma in the foreground. I mean the literal, textbook definition of fine. Middling. Adequate. Competently executed. Not a disaster, not a triumph. Like someone handed you a fast food milkshake and said, “Here’s dessert,” and you took a sip and went, “...yeah, okay.”

Let’s get the big one out of the way: this movie did not need to be three hours long. I don’t know who at the studio has decided that all movies now must be the length of a transatlantic flight, but someone needs to sit them down with a pair of scissors and a timer. At least a full hour of this could—and should—have been shaved clean off. The middle sags like a neglected space mattress. You feel the runtime like gravity.

Plot-wise? We've got your classic "we're trapped in a terrifying, rotting steel coffin in space with the deadliest apex predators evolution never meant to happen" setup. Familiar ground. It hits the beats. Some good tension. Some great body horror. A few moments where the audience in my theater let out a collective “OH NO” sound that was very satisfying.

But the ending? Needed focus. It felt like they weren’t sure how to wrap it up, so they just... kept throwing things at the wall until one stuck. The climax doesn’t build so much as it snowballs, and then it just kind of stops, like someone tripped over the credits button.

Now. That said.

Let’s talk about facehuggers.

Because this, right here, is the best use of facehuggers in the entire Alien franchise.

Usually, they’re just the pre-show. The warm-up act. The horrific little trailer for the main event: Big Slimy Adult Xeno Time. But Romulus finally gives these spidery bastards their due. It treats them like the threat they are, not just a plot device to get to the chestbursting scene. They're fast. They're clever. They hunt. And the tension around them is real in a way it hasn't been since the very first film.

There’s one sequence—no spoilers, but if you know, you know—where the facehugger becomes this Hitchcockian horror centerpiece. The kind of scene where your brain is screaming “NOPE NOPE NOPE” but your eyes refuse to look away. Pure, brilliant horror craftsmanship.

Honestly, Romulus is less about the xenomorphs themselves and more about the ecosystem of fear they create. And that part? Chef’s kiss. The facehuggers are like tiny apex assassins now, and I want a whole side-quel where they’re just let loose in some horrible confined space and we watch it go full survival horror.

Performances were solid. Set design? Beautifully grimy. Everything looked like it had mold in it and would give you tetanus just by making eye contact. Classic Alien vibes. There's atmosphere for days.

But I still can’t get past the pacing. There's a tighter, meaner, better version of this movie buried under an hour of flab. It's frustrating because all the ingredients are here—tense horror, cool creature work, solid characters, and actual effort—but the editing room failed them.

Would I watch it again? Maybe. Would I fast-forward about 45 minutes of it? Absolutely.

Would I build a shrine to the facehugger sequences? Possibly. Don’t look under my bed.

Opila Bird Reimagined

Okay, Opila Bird, the more or less poster child of the Garten Of BanBan

I decided to reimagine her as well. Just because I had some cool ideas and I wanted to play around with it

I like to imagine that opela views the player as a threat to her eggs. Mama bird and whatnot.

Collecting her eggs with infuriate her and make her aggressive towards the player. She wouldn't be aggressive until the player approaches her children/eggs

Opila bird still can't talk fluently, just making weird bird sounds. Although I think it would be funny if she could mimic words kind of like how parrots do. Could be kind of creepy too depending on the word she says

She would be a semi-constant threat stalking the player and chasing them throughout the game, potentially hiding in places like the ceiling. Similar to the Xenomorphs from Alien isolation, her feathers would fall, being a sign that she's nearby.

To combat her High aggression and in situations where running isn't an option the player can put on a bird mask and trick her into thinking the player is one of her chicks. The caveat to this would be the fact that she instinctively brings her chicks back to her nest.

So while the player would be safe from harm, she could drag them further away from their destination and still make the game harder as she would put them in any of the nests hidden throughout the chapter, which can cause the player to feel disoriented/lost

Admittably it would be kind of hard to implement something like this, but I think it could be cool if done well. It's probably important not to make the nests too far away from the objective, that way it isn't overly aggravating. Plus, a player could potentially use this to their advantage, if they are being pursued by a different monster (like Jumbo Josh for example) they could put on the bird mask, and Opila could rescue them.

Making noise could also potentially draw her in, which can be either helpful or a detriment

Used my free movie ticket to see Alien Romulus and it was so good! I really loved it! The first Alien movie since the first two to be more than just okay (or bad in the case of 3 and Resurrection). It only took like 40 years to do again lol. I really liked some of the things they did in this movie, like the face huggers make for some really good visual horror. They really shine in this movie. Which is cool because I always thought that the face hugger was the scariest phase of the xenomorph. The movie itself felt like a really interesting blend of Alien and Aliens, kind of a best of both worlds. You have the intense, claustrophobic horror of the original and some action with hordes of xenomorphs (though not at the same level of action as Aliens). Overall a good movie, they finally did it. This is maybe my second favorite or maybe tied for first favorite movie of the year, I'm not sure yet. Also I would die for Andy, I love him

'cause i feel like it's pretty rare that tpc or game freak Actually confirm what their designs are based on, even if they're obvious—which is why bulbapedia usually lists things as "appearing to be based on" as opposed to "being based on" something. big if true is what i'm saying

the queue is already into galar, so i'm already starting to do galarian pokémon. halfway through galar, i don't know if i'm going to be able to continue, because the models for anything past silicobra seem to not have been ripped yet or something like that. at least not on the models resource where i typically get the models. i would say i'd do gmax forms, if i hadn't already skipped them thus far—perhaps that'll be something to do at the end of gen 8 or at the end of the entire pokédex if there's enough demand for it. i doubt i'd be able to find all the gmax models for every pokémon, though, if i can't even find every gen 8 pokémon's model

no yeah this is cool trivia. i'd gotten used to mid-generation pokémon introductions since i only got back into pokémon proper in gen 8, so i'd seen this as (somewhat) normal—it's cool that this was what set the precedent. also i ended up going with the middle one :)

honestly we have to admit a pokémon without a type would be cool, and also should have been terapagos. should've been that instead of just a normal type when it's not terastalized. literally their way of introducing a """new""" """type""" even though it's really not and is just a special terastal form but they wanted to hype it up like it was a new type to get everyone talking about it. and by golly they did because i loved seeing people's faces when i told them "hey did you hear they added a new type" only to tell them about it and watch them progressively get more disappointed. because that's how i felt when they introduced the stellar type

btw alien romulus was like mid. I mean I felt nothing after it. and I think that movies shall trigger EMOTIONS. or an ABSENCE of them. I mean the emptiness because of what happened on the screen. this one rather felt like a dumb failed attempt to create smth cool. too netflix-ish. and I'm not talking about diversity here. hell, diversity is cool. it's just that the movie feels fucking meaningless. a bunch of kids refusing to act like they have a working brain. the main idea indeed is to show that humans are vulnerable because they are too emotional and unable to act reasonably when their loved one is in danger. okay. movie still felt meaningless either way. they failed to give those characters some deepness. they meant nothing to me. they also made it all cringey af. it's like. og alien wasn't like this. I actually cared about ripley AND JONSEY. hell I love that red furry bastard. I was so fucking nervous about them making it out alive. and w this movie I was like too tired of their dumb emotionality and unreasonability. hyperbolized empathy of characters there is... annoying. as fuck. like bro literally saw how his sister got pierced by xenomorph's tail and still tried to save her when it was obvious that she's doomed. and there was more actions like this that actually made no sense. just to show how much of dumb creatures humans are. amen. I didn't expect much from this movie and that was right of me. tho idk why ppl are rating this movie highly it's probably like 2/5 I'd say
