Since I drew Yuki and Utsuro as Pyra and Mythra, the idea kept nagging at me. Haven't been able to do as much digital art lately so here's a self indulgent doodle of Tsurugi Kinjo as the esteemed special inquisitor of Mor Ardain.

with some digital collage elements again because while it's fun haha.

If anyone is curious about my AUs, here's the obligatory quick ramble.

In this one, Tsurugi would be the one getting stabbed and needing a core crystal heart transplant like Rex. However, since he's in Morag's place as well, he already has a blade prior to this event. Brighid's counterpart, Mekaru! Since he 'dies' Mekaru retreats to her core crystal, and probably ends up with a different driver than Kinjo later. But rest assured the two of them were the fiercest driver and blade from Mor Ardain and are still more than capable of wiping the floor with their opponents even separately. I'd imagine Kinjo could also still act with her thanks to him being the driver of the Aegis as well later on.

Brigid's flaming whipswords suit Kinjo and Mekaru fairly well. I don't envy anyone facing both the Flamebringer and the Jewel of Mor Ardain.

My design for Seraph’s Monado for my fic SIN. (Context: Seraph is a clone of Shulk made by Alpha).

It's mainly based on the Monado II but with a little some inspiration from Malos' Monado, N's sword of the end, and Mythra's Monado (specifically the handle part). I tried working in elements from Zanza's Monado but was having too hard a time (his sword is ugly) so instead I just made sure to have gold on the sword and spikes of some kind.

When activated, the blade is pale blue. I debated on gold but this fit (I really liked my partner's suggestion that it's pale blue because Seraph is a pale imitation of Shulk.)

Clearly Seraph tells N that he isn’t cheating on Mio because Seraph isn’t a person so it doesn’t count.

I've been thinking about posting my views on their relationship so thanks for giving me an excuse to do so.

First up, I've messed with the timeline since I was having a bit of hard time telling how much time had passed between certain things. However, I noticed that N died when Ghondor was a small child but then attacks the city when Ghondor is an old man. That struck me as weird and, while it could have been that Z resurrected N and made that deal years after N's death, it's more interesting if N is brought back and turned into a Mobius immediately but not M. So that leaves what like 60-70 years between N becoming a mobius and M being resurrected. This also a similar time I'm having between the og Alpha fight and Future Redeemed.

Why are Shulk and Rex not super old? Cause the Liberators (the ones who are from the og worlds and don't have flame clocks) don't age the same as those in the whole eternal cycle of reincarnation thing. They age much slower in the eternal now. That's my head canon right now.

Anyway, it's in this 60-70 years that Seraph/N happens while Mio is dead. So can you cheat on your dead wife? Idk but N is the main one doing all the mental gymnastics between them.

So what happens is that Seraph finds out about N's motivations and why he's trying to kill Seraph + Alpha. He finds out about N making the deal to resurrect Mio and since he has Shulk's memories, Seraph ends up trying to talk N out of it, tries to get him to make the right decision because Seraph remembers walking down a path of revenge after Fiora died and how all that made him easy to manipulate by Zanza. If Shulk hadn't found out Fiora was in the Mechon, hadn't thought to question what was really going on with Egil and the Faces, then he would have failed in opposing Zanza. So Seraph is very aware that N is making a mistake. Furthermore, Seraph knows how much Fiora hated being in a Mechon body. She was alive but she was kinda depressed about the mechanical body. So Seraph can be like "Are you sure Mio will want to be resurrected? Will she thank you for what you've done?"

N will counter with his own words or not say anything and just try to fight Seraph instead. Especially in the beginning. N will double down because he needs M and because he's already consumed lives as a Mobius so he's not backing down. However, imagine several years of fighting and continuing to be a Mobius alone, without support. The only person that cares about him (because Seraph at least shows concern about N's choices), the only one that's constantly interacting with him is Seraph. So N is the one that initiates the relationship because he's mentally drowning and needs an anchor of some sort. It's not healthy and he also still tries to kill Seraph sometimes (or at least they have some brutal battles where they almost but never quite kill each other) but no one said N was sane or healthy.

Seraph goes along with it because he's also mentally drowning with everything going on. Plus, he never stops trying to convince N to make a better choice (it doesn't work tho). Seraph has pretty much no choices so it frustrates him to watch N who does have more freedom than him make the choices he does. If Seraph is doing any mental gymnastics/excuses about the whole cheating thing... it's probably cause he thinks his fate is to die when Alpha gets defeated. Plus, N is the one that started it. (Maybe Seraph puts up with being a sorta Mio stand-in for N's fragile mental health... it hurts but you're right that he wasn't really meant to exist/not a real person so it's ok...)

Also, another thing, while N never does make the choice to walk forward until canon, Seraph's words do half get to him. Z made a deal with N to kill Alpha and Seraph in order to get M back and then later Z switches it to destroying the city. So Seraph is an obstacle to N getting his Mio back. Yet, N is also subconsciously terrified that Seraph is right, that M will not be happy about what he's done to get her back and give her eternity. So N stalls and he ends up in the relationship with Seraph during this stalling period. It allows him to remain in limbo where he can continue justifying being a Mobius because he hasn't gotten M back yet and since she isn't back there is no need to confront her unhappiness.

Background for Old Hyrule and Altea (part 2):

Altea:

The planet of Altea consists of five kingdoms, Hyrule already being mentioned. The other kingdoms are:

Ylisse: a beautiful place with forests and amazing farm land. In the north, there are snowy mountains, while in the west it has deserts. Its capital is Ylisstol.

Crimea: a land of plains, as some would call it. It has grassslands as far as the eye can see, and its few forests have the most beautifully colored trees in the Galaxy. Its capital is Mor-Adain.

Nohr: a cold kingdom made up of mostly tundra and is not the best place for growing crops (except at the border). It has large, snowy mountains that connect with Ylisse’s. Its capital is Windmire.

And finally, Hoshido: a place made up of farmland, lakes, and cherry blossom trees. It is considered the most peaceful kingdom of the five. It also has snowy areas in the mountains which are connected with Nohr. Its capital is Shirasagi.

Now, there are other areas that no kingdom has control over. The two most prominent are the Great Sea and the Lanadin Sand Sea. Combine the two and they take up half of the planet overall. The Lanadin Sea dried up long ago l, becoming nothing but sand. It is connected to the Gerudo Desert in southwest Hyrule. The Great Sea lives on, with dozens of little islands on it. It’s connected to the south of most of the kingdoms.

Summary:

The fight with Egil went better than Shulk could have hoped. Peace was within his grasp. Then everything slipped through his fingers. The voice in his head was never his own. Who will protect his friends from the god wearing his face?

This is a Xenoblade Chronicles fic. As soon as I played this part of the game, I was obsessed with the whole Zanza reveal and the fact that he looked just like Shulk. Talk about horrifying. So I thought, what if I explored a version where Dickson never shot Shulk but instead Zanza took control of him as he originally intended too. So it's a possession fic. However, Shulk isn't just gonna let this happen. He's gonna fight back. And Alvis is gonna come up with a creative solution (because lets be real, he does not want Zanza to win) which I'm super excited to write. :)
