Repeating on a theme on Seven's Borg implants (read here for previous posts)
Because I'm still obsessed with Seven's Borg tech and how much of her is organic. Supposedly EMH took out 82% of Seven's Borg tech and took out many over the years Seven still has a lot of working Borg tech and nanoprobes more than other xB around.
One thing I just noticed from Equinox, part 2 is how we see Seven's ocular implant without the casing:
Tumblr media
This is where it makes it so obvious that Seven's head is mostly metal because that is a skin cut out showing what's underneath that skin. Also that there are various lights under there we didn't know about.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at how shiny Seven's metallic skull is without skin.
Tumblr media
The configuration of Seven's head is mostly just metal.
In this Picard s2 prop - this Borg skull only has a fraction of what Seven has underneath her skin:
Tumblr media
Seven's entire cranium is made of metal.
That is why when Narissa bashed Seven's head on the console Seven didn’t lose consciousness and only made Seven a little dizzy, and pissed her off more tbh.
An organic person would've had a concussion and maybe even died.
I wonder if Seven looks like a Terminator beneath the skin.
(This is brought to you by having just rewatched Terminator 1 & 2).
Because as we saw in Imperfections scratch the skin underneath and she seems to have metal exoskeleton as implants.
Tumblr media
Speaking of further body horror-- Even when the Borg deadened Seven’s nerve endings, Seven still felt the pain of having her occipital ocular installed:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
During or after her procedure, even with all the precautions that the body wouldn't feel a thing, Seven remembered feeling the pain. (It makes me wonder if Unimatrix!Annika felt the pain or it was something she could block out).
A fan theory I subscribe to posited that Seven is a Borg Queen candidate.
This would go a long way explaining why Seven has some form of individual identity and why the Borg Queen has a special interest re: Seven.
Aside from being assimilated at a young age, this would also account for the number of implants in her system.
Even among her own unimatrix, she was the one calling the shots and enforcing the Borg rules.
All the Borg Queens we've seen only have their heads and upper torso.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seven might have been on her way to a similar fate. Her spine's already reinforced.
Tumblr media
I'm pretty sure one or both of Seven's legs from the knee down are prosthetic legs ala Edward Elric.
(Also there was a VOY writer who seemed keen on blowing up Seven's legs -- the first version of The Raven has Seven becoming a terminator and to stop her the crew apparently needed to blow up her legs, and she had to crawl her way to Janeway—thankfully someone in the writer’s room said “WTF??”, Because WTF???I'm so glad someone went: No, dude).
Tumblr media
As possible evidence that one or both of Seven’s legs are prosthetics: when she was unconscious during The Gift we can see there are wires on Seven's left kneecap.
And I don't know if that shin armor is exoplating or if prostheses have replaced her legs.
There's so much about Seven we don't really know about and I really want to know more about her functional Borg components and to settle, once and for all, if by Picard's time, she still needs to regenerate.
I'm on the camp that Seven still needs to regenerate.

A few years ago (*cough* at least a decade ago at this point), I made a proper "tags" page for this blog so people could look for specific Peter x Olivia things to their heart's content. But that was back when people mainly used their computers to go on tumblr, so I'm aware no one has seen the actual look/structure of this blog in a long time. So I created this pinned post with the tags to help you navigate this page :)

Welsknight Season 7, EP 3 and 4 a Rat's report
So I guess I am doing this, I am watching the entirety of Wels Hermitcraft Season 7 series and doing a actual written report on it.
First / Next
Deep Storage Warehouse | Hermitcraft 7 - Ep. 3
27:41 lenght, posted 29 may 2020, watched 30/01/2023 and 31/01/2023
He clicks record button and it starts raining. He complains that this is "Just his luck" and I agree, this sums his lucky very well. (Personal note: I had a brief flashback to Doc in season eight talking about the fact of how hard is to see rain in Hermitcraft, and I find it amusing that Wels is one of the culprits, as one of the local sleeping maniacs.)
He is tiding up his river "Basically you are trying to avoid the appearance that you just spammed bonemeal, even though you just spammed bonemeal everywhere" (Time stamp 3:50)
"So I don't think there is a rule against two timelapses in a single episode, lets do it!" Stares in House Flipper series at this 3 year old video.
Personal note: I was building a puzzle with friends while watching it and I zoned out a bit, when I zoned back he was so amused talking about his own building that it just put a big ol' smile in my face.
Fwhip mentioned! He built one of Fwhip's boat designs and gave credit, he started talking about Fwip and how he likes his videos and how he watches it! Idk it just made me soft seeing he talking about Fwhip, knowing that in like 2 years? The man would be steeping in Hermitcraft ground, its a shame Wels wasn't active and didn't got to interact with the Empire people.
"My knight time senses are tingling" *proceeds to spam clicks a bed
"My sleep sense are tingling again" *proceeds to spam clicks a bed (I guess this is his superpower now)
He needs to make a shop
-Wels: No one sell leather and I need a good source of food -Me: Nodding in redstoner "Okay so he will make a hoogling farm, sounds fun" -Wels: I need some cow -Me: Excuseme what? -Me: Stops and thinks for the exact amount of 3 seconds, oh yeah the nether was still bad.
He will vote for Joe as dog catcher! Good to know!
He bought the Hermit Heralds!!! The only thing I managed to read was "Unsanitary Scar"
Wels is talking about cow, stops mid phrase "Problem must sleep" Sir just admit you have a problem.
Wels is doing a cow pen (This is where I suffered from multiple organs failure) "Ha you are mine, forever forever, forced to live a life of breeding" SIR (pERSONAL notes: Yes I am one of the mods in correct Hermitcraft quotes, and yes I have posted worst things there (It was Keralis and xB), and NO, I will not post this in the blog, for the sake that my little rat hearth will NOT survive receiving this quote as a notification.)
FULL House Interior! | Hermitcraft 7 - Ep. 4
25:12 length, posted 5 june 2020, watched 01/02/24
This is a interior decor episode, this Brazilian redstoner Rat will do some comments about Wels decor, be prepared.
Decor talk: I love what he is doing with the ceiling, I could never though about that, I would have let it as it was and sulked.
"If I decided to put a basement in this house, this would be the ideal place to put it, and if not, this can be storage, closet, stairs, you know; Harry Potter could live in there or something" (Time stamp 7:30)
Decor talk: Ok that bedroom is gorgeous, the bed isn't functional, but at least he can sleep in the bench (that is actually a bed)
I will describe the next sequence of actions because it's funny
Goes to the shopping district to buy skulkers
Sees the free samples barrel
clicks on it
Zombies appears out of nowhere
It's a trap.
False for mayor trap!
She kills the mobs and walks away looking honestly cool
It actually worked! Wels retreat his concrete vote for Stress
He realizes that got distracted and goes and buys the shulkers
No free samples for Wels
The great entrance hall is attached to the wrong door, the main entrance door is connected to the kitchen "Planning 10/10" At least it's pretty?
Decor talk: He keeps making benches, he doesn't have a functional bed, but he has a lot of benches.
One of his goals for season 7 was to get better at doing interior!
Decor talk: He is doing great, all he builds is so good omg. For all that I joke about his house flipper, this man knows how to decorate and I really appreciate his buildings.
Beef tunes! He is buying a piano!
So I will cut a bit here, to say that Wels did a honestly moving speech about things that were happening at the time in the world, and I feel like are relevant to today 3 years latter.
I urge everyone to go watch it, because it's truly powerful and it was a good reminder of why he is one of my favorite youtubers.
Its starts roughly at 16:53 and ends at 20:06
I will now transcript part of it here, but I can't stress enough, go watch the whole thing, it got me really by surprise.
"However I will say this, I don't give a damn, and I use that word deliberately, because this is important enough to warrant it.
I don't give a damn about the color of your skin, who you love, your religious beliefs, what political party you belong to, or other description that people may use to categorize you, good people are always welcome in my community, and all it takes to be a good person in my book is to follow the golden rule of treat other as you wish to be treated."
The speech is way longer, and I got really really touched, I am still looking at it and reflecting.
Anyway back to normal now.
Some time and world observation:
In the Hermit Heralds it was written "Get gorgeous" I am curious how much it cost Stress to put this there
Shopping district remains a ugly mess
I did this at 2 am, good night.

hello, i’m immensely enjoying Decidedly Motley Stories! if i may, i’d like to request “how long have i been asleep?” with hugh borg & seven or hugh & soji
Oh! 🥹 Thank you so, so much, @clinttbartton! 💕 I’m enjoying getting prompts — and this is a great one! I went with Hugh Borg & Seven, and I hope you like it.
For those who prefer to read on AO3:
For those who prefer to read here:
And When We Awaken, Eyes Open to Possibility, We Find Our Voice in the Night
The doctors at Starfleet Medical marvel over the increased acuity in her artificial eye, the nanoprobes in her bloodstream, the cortical node that replaced the cortical node that regulates the implants that forced their way in where her childhood should have been.
The doctors don’t ask if she likes music. Or Kadis-kot.
But they seem pleased to inform her that the eighteen percent of her that is Borg hardware within her skin, her bone, her very marrow, has been sufficiently cataloged and studied to allow her a choice.
A proportionate amount of humanity, perhaps.
So they ask as if offering a prize, would she like to sleep instead of regenerate? A procedure can tie the electromagnetic activity in her brain to her Borg systems, a one-time algorithmic upgrade — a ticket to dreamland, one doctor says as a joke and she does not laugh.
It’s tempting to agree, to sever her need for the regeneration alcove moved into her hospital room from Voyager’s cargo bay 2, a monolith to her onetime monoculture that subsumed even her slumber.
But more change is frightening.
So she tells the doctors that she needs to think about it.
She’s never had trouble with a decision before.
Crew from Voyager visit her, query as to her thoughts and feelings.
She talks with them, but not about this, this opportunity to rewrite her most basic of functions, this potential deepening of her supposed humanity at the very time she’s both surrounded by more humanity than ever and acutely aware that the ideals she was made to believe pertained to humanity may be lacking in practice.
And not just medical practice.
But a knock taps against her door — not a chime, an actual knock — in a sequence of bursts. Borg alphabet. The letters “x” and “b.”
Curiosity triumphs over wariness and she calls out for the person to enter.
The door opens and he steps in, fluid movements, almost graceful, the metal fragments that pierce his skin evidence of experience akin to her own.
“I’m Hugh.” He doesn’t ask to sit the way most people do, seemingly preferring to stand the way she does. “Formerly Third of Five. I heard you were here and came as quickly as I could. I wanted you to know … you’re not alone.”
She’s been told this before, mostly by members of the Voyager crew.
But she believes it now.
He teaches her the word “xB,” an identity, a resource, a decentralized community of individuals who are happy, angry, hurt, healing, afraid, brave — and ready to help those like them.
Her ocular implant is not malfunctioning, though her fingers brush the tears away as if there is something wrong when, in fact, this is finally something right.
She asks questions.
He answers.
And when she wants to know if xBs regenerate or if they sleep, he seems to understand that she’s not just inquiring about rest cycles, she’s seeking information to help her get closer to leaving Starfleet Medical so she can meet those among whom she can be understood, not former drones who still use identifiers forced upon them, but xBs who created their own terminology, their own comfort with each other, their own — individual — place within what they were, what they were before that, who they are, and who they wish to be.
“Some regenerate. Some sleep. It’s not an easy decision for anyone, Seven.” The vestiges of an implant on Hugh’s cheek shift upwards as he smiles — a supportive smile, empathy. “But if you choose sleep and want someone here when you wake up — and that first time can be disorienting, it’s true — then I can promise that I’ll stay with you.”
She accepts Hugh’s promise, regenerates one last time, her back straight, the familiar before yet another everyday aspect of her life changes. And there’s the upgrade, a doctor tapping at a console, no change, she feels no change, but it worked, the regeneration alcove rejects her attempt to interface, and how will she do this? How will she know if her rest cycle is complete if the computer doesn’t tell her so?
“You,” Hugh speaks softly, carefully, “will adapt.”
She attempts it. A pillow under her head, a blanket tucked around her shoulders, the bed soft under her as she … is the human phrase “tosses and turns”?
From a cot in her room set up for his own rest, Hugh talks to her, asks if her parents ever told her a bedtime story, requests that she tell the story to him — the tale of the brave ballerina who flew a starship to the science conference to share her hypothesis.
Her words slur and there’s darkness.
Not scary.
Gentle. Like a hug from inside.
The hug slips away.
“How …” she speaks into the dim light of her hospital room, “how long have I been asleep?”
From his cot, Hugh answers, “About four hours.”
It’s as if she’s been pushed into cold water.
She didn’t complete her first attempt at a rest cycle.
It’s the middle of the night.
She failed.
“Remember, Seven,” it’s as if Hugh knows — and he probably does, “you can choose how to feel about this. Standards of Borg perfection don’t apply.”
Her first attempt at a rest cycle.
And she made it more than halfway to human sleep requirements.
She … succeeded?
“Thank you, Hugh.” Seven adjusts her blanket, curls onto her side. “I will resume this rest cycle and … see you in the morning.”
“Sleep well, Seven.”
“Sleep well, Hugh.”
And she does.
———
Send me an ask with character(s) and a prompt and I’ll do my best to write up a gentle hug for your people. ❤️
✨ All prompted Picard ficlets are also available on AO3 as Decidedly Motley Stories. ✨

The interception of the Rex was a training exercise and military aviation achievement of the United States Army Air Corps prior to World War II. The tracking and location of an ocean-going vessel (the Italian liner SS Rex) by Boeing XB-17 Bombers on 12 May 1938 was a major event in the development of a doctrine that led to a United States Air Force independent of the Army.[1] The mission was ostensibly a training exercise for coastal defense of the United States, but was conceived by planners to be a well-publicized demonstration of the capabilities of "heavy bombers (as) long range instruments of power".[2]
The flight was conducted during coastal defense maneuvers held by the Air Corps without the participation of the United States Navy, and apparently without understanding of their purpose by the Army Chief of Staff.[3] Both had continuing disagreements with the leaders of the Air Corps over roles and missions, with the Navy disputing its maritime mission and the Army seeking to limit its role to that of supporting ground forces.[4]
With a characteristic flair for creating publicity,[5][6] the Air Corps' General Headquarters Air Force (its combat organization) not only successfully made the interception at sea, but exploited both live radio news coverage and dramatic photographs. Although the publicity resulted in a short-term setback for Air Corps ambitions, within a year both U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt and future Army Chief of Staff George C. Marshall became new proponents of long-range air power.

There’s something almost funny about the progression of XBs worm diorama in season 8 because he started with this very grotesque model of a dead worm carcass that had chunks of rotted flesh and blood dripping from it and he VERY QUICKLY changed it because he was afraid of what parents would think if they saw their kids watching it. The original model was featured for less than half an episode before he changed it into something far less grotesque, even changing the blood and flesh to blue so that it looked less realistic.
And then he hires CLEO of all people to do an action sequence for the diorama. Cleo, who gives him people being impaled on teeth, and some guy huddled up in the corner unceremoniously shoving his organs back into his stomach, and the remains of a singular severed torso that still has its blood and guts and organs and nerves leaking out of its sides, and bloodied flesh dripping from the jaws of the monster while some poor soul has literally been ripped apart on the ground beside it. And XB is ecstatic. He takes one look at it and spends the next 2 and a half minutes raving about how fantastic it is and is suddenly just like, ya know what? The children will cope.

Spoilers for Xenoblade 1 and 2
With Xenoblade Chronicles 3 being out soon, I was trying to remember all the things regarding Klaus, the Conduit and how the worlds are connected, so I rewatched a lot of scenes. Thought I might as well share in case anyone else needs a refresher:
-In 20XX the Conduit, a mysterious thing that in theory allows interdimensional travel, is being found in Kenya, Africa.
You will say "wait, that's not from Xenoblade" and you are right. It's actually from Xenosaga, but I heard some booklet that came with one of the XB2 figures confirmed these events for XB too.
-The organization Aoidos is formed to research the Conduit.
-The unified world government builds three "bean stalks", space elevators that connect to an orbital ring around the planet. They are named Rhadamanthus, Aecus and Minōs. The Conduit was transfered to space bcs it was deemed too dangerous to stay on the planet.
-Aoidos create an AI, called The Trinity Processor. It's made up of three cores, named Ontos, Logos and Pneuma. These three parts have been raised in VR to obtain a personality which was necessary so they could properly maintain the Conduit. The Trinity Processor is located on Rhadamanthus where the Conduit is as well.
-In order to protect the Conduit and the orbital ring, the Trinity Processor uses energy from the Conduit to create Artifices, huge mechs.
-As the orbital ring is being attacked by rebels, a researcher named Klaus defects and locks himself in the control room for the Conduit, planning to activate it bcs he believes it will help humanity become Something More. Another researcher, Galea, tries to stop him but fails.
-The Conduit gets activated, portals appear all over the planet and most of humankind vanishes to who knows where. Most places on Earth also seem to disappear. Galea and Klaus' half body also disappear to another universe (half his body remains (no he's not dead)). There they take the forms of the gods Zanza (as the soul of the titan Bionis) and Meyneth (as the soul of the titan Mechonis) which leads to the whole story of the first game.
I won't talk about the cycle of life in XB1 as I think that won't be important (if any of this will be important at all lmao).
-The half of Klaus that remained becomes the Architect from the second game.
-He regrets what he did and wants to atone for his sins. So he wants to recreate life. First he creates a "special particulate substance with the ability to restore deterioated matter", called the Cloud Sea. It dissambles matter and rebuilds it in its original image. That is supposed to restore the world (buildings, etc) to their former state.
Then he creates miniature vessels containing memories of all the planet's former lifeforms, Core Crystals. He scatters them in the Cloud Sea.
The crystals bond with it and become the titans, who were originally not at all titans but tiny creatures. As they evolved they grew larger and lager and became like the huge titans seen in the game. However, the tiny creatures didn't JUST lead to the big titans, but actually to all living beings, including humans.
Worrying that one day someone might be as stupid as him and cause another apocalypse, he creates the Blades to take care of humans and prevent the worst. The first ones were Ontos, Logos and Pneuma. However, Ontos triggered a space-time distortion and disappeared to the world of XB1 (he's Alvis/the Monado). Logos (known as Malos) and Pneuma (Pyra and Mythra) were supposed to manage all other Blades. The Blades relay all kinds of information to those two, who then process this data and return it back to the Blades' Core Crystals, allowing them to come back in a more evolved state. As Blades "die" and go back to the state of a crystal and get awakened again and again (everytime this happens they lose their memories) they eventually become titans, which in return again create new life and also serve as the living space of other beings.
-Core Crystals were originally not meant to become Blades and titans. They were actually an invention by the last remaining humans, living in what is later called the ruins of Morytha. They were meant as replacement for human brain cells. People wanted to use them to become immortal. However, that failed and they mutated into monsters. Klaus then used their technology as the starting point for the creation of Blades and titans.
-Klaus senses that he will soon cease to exist. He knows Shulk and the others are about to defeat his other half, Zanza, in the world of XB1. As Shulk's words can be heard in XB2, Klaus grants the people of this new world a final gift: he orders all of the huge titans to move towards the world tree (which is the space elevator leading to Rhadamanthus), below the Cloud Sea, to form new landmasses above the ocean.
-He also knew the Conduit (which, yes, was still There) would soon disappear into another dimension. Ontos, Logos and Pneuma were all originally powered by it. As was the space station. Logos/Malos died. We don't really know what happened with Ontos/Alvis in XB1. Pneuma (Pyra/Mythra) sacrificed herself to blow up Rhadamanthus so it doesn't crash onto the Earth. She returns as two separate people in a post-credits scene.
My assumption here is that Pneuma and maybe ALL Blades lost their powers after the Conduit disappeared. This would mean there could be no more new titans, so turning the existing ones into landmasses might have been the only way to save everyone's future. This could also explain why there are no Blades in XB3 (not in the same sense as in XB2 at least. Some characters very much LOOK like Blades).
-With Zanza dead and Shulk as new god, at the end of XB1 Alvis asks him what he wants to do with the world, now that the Mechonis has been destroyed and the Bionis is collapsing as well. Shulk wishes for a new world without a need for gods.
It very much seems like the remains of the titans, including all living beings from XB1 have been brought to the Earth. In the DLC "Future Connected" you can see they now live on a flatter surface, close to the ocean.

Technically Seven of Nine and other ex-Borgs/xBs are disabled. The Borgs mutilated their bodies and actively took off and replaced a portion of Seven's skull, arm, and a lot of her body parts with cybernetic implants.
They don't explore it much but I wish in season 2 of Picard they had the time to explore what it means for Seven to have a fully organic body.
To see out of eyes that's not just a green-tinted heads-up display and see the full spectrum of color. To be not as strong as she used to be, and be physically lighter (not just emotionally lighter).
Also, I'm still wondering if people with normal cybernetics get mistaken for xBs, for example: Rutherford. He has pretty heavy cybernetic implants on his head that are very reminiscent of Seven's implant, except bulkier.

hiding in plain sight (the meaning of trust) - chapter 1
Tumblr media
happy 2 year anniversary to vdhau! the sequel is finally here!
Genre: Comedy/Superhero
Fic summary:
As they charge through the darkened rooms, their footsteps echo against the walls, alerting nearby staff. “Who’s there?” one of them shouts. Another one flashes a light down the hall, illuminating the subject mid-run. They’ve been caught. But it won’t matter. “XS-8 is escaping!” the staff shouts. “Catch it!”
In which a teenage lab rat finally escapes into the real world, gets adopted by two shady shop owners, and starts learning to live amongst normal people. There’s only one small issue: they have superpowers, and they have to keep it hidden to avoid being caught again. It’s a lot harder than it sounds.
Chapter word count: 4,394
Characters (in chapter): Evil X (8), Hypno, xB
Chapter summary: in which a lab subject escapes and finds an unexpected new home.

And another chapter released! This and the next chapter are sort of a part 1 & 2, but they needed to be split up for... reasons that should be apparent 😈
If you've not been following along so far, this fic is an AU set in an undefined Hermitcraft season post 1.19, and Gem might be a little mind controlled at the moment, kidnapping the other Hermits to seal away in another dimension. If you'd like to read from the start, see here!
I'm gon' give it to ya - Chapter 6
6. Fool Me Twice...
Fandom/Collection: Hermitcraft/@hermitgang-ao3
Words: 1037 of 12723 so far
Summary: (Part 1/2) Gem enchants another item. It doesn't go well.
Preview:
The spiral staircase seemed taller than usual, or at the very least it took much longer to climb. Gem definitely wasn't worried about reaching the top. Not at all nervous with how coolly Pearl had received her gift yesterday, again avoiding putting it on before Gem felt she had outstayed her welcome, just like with xB. And she definitely wasn't concerned at all by the previous day's failure.
No, her magics were strong, thanks to her master. She definitely got the enchantment right this time. Yesterday was an anomaly that would not be repeated!
And hopefully Keralis would be an easier target anyway. The question had been more "what to make" rather than "would he wear it". After a serious amount of brainstorming, the only thing she'd been able to come up with was a cap to protect those large, bulging eyes of his. Though again, it was Keralis. He'd probably try anything she'd throw at him if she asked nicely enough. And she could ask very nicely.
The enchanter finally rounded into view, its gentle thrum pulsing through her head as the levels inside her buzzed resonantly with it. She itched absentmindedly at her arms as the levels tingled against her skin. She'd made sure to get extra this time, just to be safe. Not that she needed to be safe. Her magic was perfectly good, after all.
"Everything alright, Gem?" asked Ren, looking genuinely concerned from his position shackled on the floor.
"Of course I'm alright," she said, forcing her usual friendly smile onto her face. "Here's your carrot."
Ren caught the lobbed vegetable but set it aside. "I believe in you Gem. I know you're in there. I know you can do it."
"Of course I can do it. Yesterday was a pure anomaly. I won't fail again."
"You know that's not what I meant."
She reached down and placed the hat upon the table, pricking her finger with the quill. The levels buzzed harder, threatening to break out of her body. She squeezed her hands into fists, breathing deeply to stabilise the power within her. All she needed was 30 seconds to write the enchantment and they'd be gone.
