distracted, xavier thorpe
xavier thorpe x reader
summary: xavier couldn’t help but do what he wants to do
warnings: it’s literally just fluff, use of baby?
a/n: first fic, please be nice. Apologies for any grammer mistakes oops
☆
You could feel his eyes on you every now and then, alternating between his homework that he held up with his hand and you who’s sitting across from him. You didn’t bother to look up, putting all your focus on the essay you had to write as homework.
The library was quiet, only the sound of you and Xavier’s pen scribbling on paper and the occasional sniffing. You and Xavier would always go to the library to finish up the homework you two have for the day. It was your routine even before you and him started dating.
Unfortunately, Xavier isn’t the most responsible student. He would often goof around, trying to distract you and would do anything but his homework.
Today was no different.
“And… done!” You sighed, dropping your pen onto the table and leaning back against the chair. You let your eyes relax for a moment before peeking to see Xavier still focused on his homework. “Are you almost done?”
He bit his bottom lip, ignoring your question, too wrapped up in his work to answer you.
“Maybe we can swap our essays and spot if there’s any mistakes?” You asked, pursing your lips as you wait for Xaviers response.
He hummed absentmindedly, his eyes never leaving his notebook. You smiled, admiring your boyfriends pretty features when he concentrates. You were proud to see that he was actually putting in effort on his work.
Xavier finally stopped writing, placing his pencil down and picking up his notebook and admired it before giving himself a content nod.
You bounce eagerly, “Can I read yours?”
His eyes finally met yours, a hint of mischievousness behind those eyes. He smirked, clearing his throat as he sat up straight and swapped notebooks with you.
You were practically gleaming with excitement, excited to read his essay and actually feel like you have a real study partner to learn and point out mistakes with.
Until your eyes landed on his notebook.
Your smile has never dropped so fast. Your shoulders dropping, and you couldn’t contain the gasp that left your mouth.
A snicker came from the man you were about to murder.
“Xavier Thorpe I swear to fucking god—“
“—I love you, baby please—“
“—All this time I thought you were writing the essay—“
“—You’re so pretty I couldn’t help it—“
“—And you were drawing instead?!”
You stared at him incredulously, your nose flaring at him due to how pissed off you were. He was enjoying this, his cocky smile still plastered on his face as he laughed at your reaction.
“I’m sorry, baby. In my defence, I did try to write the essay. I just got distracted…” Xavier said, his hands holding yours as his thumbs rubbed your hands softly.
You blinked at him, sighing as you look down at his notebook to see at the top right hand corner he did wrote a few words before giving up.
“As much as I want to scream at you right now, this drawing is beautiful,” you sighed with a small smile, studying his artwork.
It was a drawing of you reading your textbook, you nose scrunched and your hair a mess. He managed to enhance your best features, capturing every little detail about you. He was truly talented.
“Thank you. Please don’t be mad, i’ll start on the essay right now,” he said softly, ensuring you aren’t upset with him.
You playfully rolled your eyes at him, sighing loudly. “You better do it or no cuddles for you tonight.”
You ignored his protests as you get up from your seat to find a book to keep you company. Safe to say Xavier was diligently doing his work with a determined face, and within thirty minutes he was done and started begging you for a hug and a kiss.

hello gorgeous! love your writings! thank u so much for your works! if you don't mind, i have a mini crack thought about witch!reader x xavier maybe friends to lovers? they're casually hanging out together and witch!reader asks out of nowhere "are u a virgin?" xavier is confused like "why?" "need some male virgin blood for a potion/ritual" idk why i've been thinking abt this mini dialog for weeks but i've found it hilarious. it's ok if it doesn't inspire you or something, though. thank u in advance!
to keep thy young
summary | you make a joke at xavier who just gets more and more confused
pairing | xavier thorpe x fem!witch!reader
warning | fluff, humor, mentions of virginity, mentions of blood
word count | 435
Your nose was deep into your spell book, looking up occasionally to your caldron, Xavier hearing you mutter something under your breath before going back to reading.
Xavier was used to it whenever he came to your room, unless it was an emergency, you’d be into your witchy powers as Xavier would like to call it.
The two of you had an odd friendship, while you kept your nose in a book, in the library whenever you had the free time, while Xavier kept up with his art, attending the Nightshades, meeting you for the first time in front of the Poe Statue.
“Xavier.” You called out to him. It was a shock that he saw you out so late and that neither of you hadn’t been caught. “I need a favor from you.”
“Uh.” He muttered, feeling conflicted.
“I know about the secret library, and I need to get in.” You went straight to the point. Sharing a few classes with him was probably the most you knew of him, and the drama that went around Nevermore when he and Bianca broke up.
Xavier was enchanted when he first met you, he always thought you held a certain aura around you, and you were more beautiful than he could ever imagine, there was no way he could say no.
Meeting that fateful day was when your blooming friendship developed, something Xavier dreaded because he wanted to be so much more than friends.
Hearing a loud groan from you, Xavier pulled out one of his headphones. “You okay?”
Sighing, you turned around looking at your best friend dead in the eye, not wanting a second, “Are you a virgin?”
Stunned, Xavier was shocked what you asked him, completely off guard. “Um.” He licked his lips, “No.”
“Great.” You muttered under your breath, rolling your eyes, “Guess I could go find Eugune.”
“Why do you want to know?” After you mentioning Eugune’s name Xavier was just more confused.
“I need the blood of a male virgin.” You shrugged, “I need to keep myself young, wrinkles are starting to show.”
Xavier was to the point beyond confusion, starting to gear towards delusion. “What the fuck.”
Hearing you laugh, Xavier watched as you finally turned around to face him. “I’m joking.”
Even hearing you say that, he still couldn’t believe you. “It’s not a youth potion, I’m making a wolfsbane remedy, just wanted to see your reaction.”
Xavier just stared at you, starting to laugh quietly with you. “Do any of your spells or potions ask for the blood of a virgin.”
“Oh yeah.” You grinned, “Tons.”

Can I request Xavier Thorpe x plus!size reader i was thinking the reader and Xavier used to date until she died the reader died in a car crash Xavier is depressed because the love of his life is dead so maybe Xavier is having a hard time grieving over her death but he is getting better at talking about the reader maybe he is hanging out with his friends and they ask Xavier if he had a plan with the reader after they graduated because they would have been adults when they would’ve graduated Xavier told them that he was gonna marry the reader and start a family with her but now he can’t because she is dead even though the reader was his first everything he would always love the reader no matter what life throws at him and no one can replace the reader.
Accidents and Healing
Tumblr media
Pairing: Xavier Thorpe x Plus!Size!Witch!reader
Characters: Xavier Thorpe, Bianca Barclay, Ajax Petropolus, Enid Sinclair, Divina Fisher, Kent Fisher, Yoko Tanaka, Jace (Xavier's dad's driver), Rowan Laslow, Plus!Size!Witch!reader (briefly mentioned)
Warnings: Angst, brief details about reader's death, everyone being supportive and caring for Xavier, Xavier grieving, Reader making an appearance or two, Reader and Xavier missing one another, sad times, mentions of an asshole stealing readers credit card, if the reader lived, they would have had twins, mentions of breastfeeding
Word Count: 2,522
A/N: Reader will be mentioned and I imagine it to be like the other side from TVD.
Nothing like finishing this one up after actually getting into a car accident earlier in the week.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Xavier checks his phone, expecting a text (that won’t be coming any time soon).
He asks his father’s driver, Jace, if they can’t stop by and grab some flowers, needing to stop by the one place that can calm him down before he starts another school year.
-
“Do you remember when I ran into you in the hallway on the way to my dorm room? I found the sketch I made that day. I mean- I haven’t looked at it since our first date.”
He sighs, playing with the fabric of his dark jeans. “I have it framed… I was going to give it to you when we started this year, but… you know.”
You stand behind him, observing him from behind wishing you could hold him again.
“I was wondering if you were gonna run up to me and latch onto me like you always do… did- like you always did. I thought about it on my way over while I was waiting for your yearly “first day of school” text. I was thinking the same thing when you were walking out the door to your car. You know, after we hung up that day.”
His hand touches the dewy grass, tempting him to pick at it but doesn’t, not wanting to ruin your grave site, leaving it as perfect as you were.
His shoulders sag at the thought.
You never wanted to admit that you were perfect even though he argued that you were.
Another thing he misses and puts into the “it doesn’t get easier to think about” category.
You move around him, kneeling in front of him. “You’ve grown so much.” You raise your hand and brush a piece of hair out of his eyes.
He brushes it off and thinks it's the wind, even if you’d always brush the hair out of his face… the thought of you still being here hurts him too much to admit.
He doesn’t want to think you’re here with him when neither of you can be together.
When his phone buzzes again, he ignores it. It’s too soon for him to leave, he’s barely talked to you.
He huffs at the ding of another notification and unlocks his phone to find Ajax and Bianca keeps calling him.
They’re not going to stop calling if he doesn’t leave now and he knows that.
He slowly pushes himself off the grass, the damp spot on his pants begins bothering him because his skin is going to be itchy soon (if he doesn’t take care of it).
He texts the two a quick reply, saying that he’ll be at school in a few, he forgot to grab his school bag even though they know the truth.
No one can blame him for not wanting to go to school when he lost the love slash light of his life.
With his heart still as heavy as ever, he slowly drags his feet off the ground, taking slow steps, as he walks away from… you.
-
Xavier runs his hand through his hair as he stands in front of your dorm room, wondering if it’s been collecting dust over the last few months or if it’s ready for a new occupant.
He knows Yoko hasn’t touched any of your things and put in a request to move into another dorm.
She briefly mentioned she doesn’t like that there’s a lingering energy, whether it be you or not, she doesn’t want it to latch onto her.
And he understood when she told him but, it hurt him when he first found out.
He takes a deep breath and does the one thing he’s barely been able to do since the accident (seven months ago) and walks away.
-
He heads for the mural Miss Weems asked him to do last year, the prying eyes on him don’t phase him as much as they used to.
‘Maybe it means I’m healing?’ He thinks before shaking his head, not wanting to think about how much he’s been grieving (and still is). He puts in his second ear bud and grabs his paintbrush.
Bianca periodically glances over at the tortured artist, feeling the need to check up on him.
She always knew you two were a better match than he and her (if she had asked him out when she had the chance their first year at Nevermore [a year before he asked you out] then things might have been a little different).
Honestly everyone thought you two were going to be the ones to start their lives seconds after graduating and that includes the townspeople.
There wasn’t anyone who had a bad thing to say about your relationship.
And no one could have imagined you’d be gone before you could finish school or start the rest of your lives with him.
-
The school found out three hours after the accident had happened and the only reason Xavier found out was because of everyone posting how they were going to miss you which led to him finding out the truth.
Your parents were barely able to send an email to the school, let alone even try to make a phone call to the one person who gave their daughter the kind of love they only ever hoped she would get once she was in a relationship.
Seconds after he hung up with you, your driver swerved the car off the road which resulted in the car flipping over three times down the small hill beside the road just past the town line.
Your belongings were scattered all around the road and forest, giving some stranger the opportunity to steal your wallet and try to use your credit card for a liquor store run.
It took a lot out of Xavier that afternoon to force his friends to stay and not commit murder as they barely began to grieve.
The windows and windshield were cracked; the side mirrors were barely hanging on. The hood of the car was crunched and bent into itself, not even remotely close to being repairable along with the roof.
Surprisingly, your family’s driver didn’t suffer nearly as much as you did but still took some of the worse wounds since he was the one closest to where the most damage was.
-
Luckily the police kept the images away from any news outlet and social media site otherwise Xavier would have been hurting himself more by examining the photos and reminding himself of how he “could” have prevented the crash (even though he knows he couldn’t).
He shakes his head, upset to see the car driving around the shed before he waves it out of the air.
That's not what he needs to think about after his first day back at school.
He rubs his charcoaled hands over his face, leaving long streaks coming down his cheeks.
You stare at the piece on his easel, wondering how he knows what happened when he wasn’t there. ‘And thank god he wasn’t,’ you think.
He wipes his hands on his pants, not caring about the streaks that are going to stain his dark jeans and ruin his clothes when he washes them (it wouldn't be the first time).
Although it'd be the first time you wouldn't tease him about it. That realization hurts him.
He sighs, wishing you were here with him. 'Is this how it's going to be?' He wonders.
Do people that lose the love of their life constantly think about questions, wondering what would have been different if their loved one was still alive… is this how his dad felt when his mom died, and he was left to raise Xavier on his own?
His phone buzzes again.
His phone has never bothered him as much as it is right now.
Another thing he wonders is if his friends will ever stop checking up on him, as regularly as they have to make sure he's okay.
He thinks about you…again and thinks back to his latest dream about you, the life he wishes you two could have had, if things turned out differently.
-
Your arms wrap around his shoulders. "The kids are getting antsy waiting for their dad to finish and poor mom is getting the repercussions," you tease him.
Your warmth breath hits his ear, sending a tingle down his spine.
He misses that.
"Oh, yeah?" He spins around on the stool, wrapping his arms around your waist.
You nod with a small smile, "yeah. What are you going to do to make it up to me?"
"Someone has no manners," he tells you with a smile on his face.
"You're not the one who has to try and breastfeed two children at the same time."
"Thank God, otherwise we'd be having a different discussion."
"Like whose nipples are going to be ripped apart next?"
He pulls you in close, brushing his nose against yours. "Nice try."
You pout, “don’t be mean.”
“I’m not being mean.”
“Yes, you are, and you know it.” You giggle. “I need you to wake up.”
“What?” He asks, not understanding why you’re telling him this.
“Wake up.”
-
“Xavier, wake up.” Rowan shakes his shoulders. “Wake up.”
The artist pushes his roommate away from him.
“Sorry,” the blond says, taking a step back. “You were saying her name and sounded like you were hurt.”
He slowly pushes himself up, resting against his headboard.
“Are you okay?”
Xavier turns his head. “What?”
“I’m- you- you haven’t been the same since the accident and I wanted to know if you were okay. I don’t think anyone’s brave enough to ask you how you’re doing.”
He shrugs, “I don’t know. I just- I can’t believe it’s been this long. I mean, it feels like it happened yesterday.”
The telepath nods, debating on asking him or not. “Do you think you’re ever going to be able to get over her?”
Xavier doesn’t even have to think about the answer before responding. “No.”
Rowan knows asking more is going to most likely bring his friend back to his previous state, the day he was when you died and doesn’t want that to happen so, he leaves to go to the nightshade society room, wanting to feel closer to his mom.
The artist sighs and flops back onto his bed. He knows he should get up and get ready for school but he just- he can’t.
He closes his eyes, wondering what you two would have been doing right now.
Bianca slams the door open and shakes her head when she sees what state he’s in. “Come on.”
“What?”
“You’re coming with me whether you want to or not.”
He pushes her hands away and his sheets back up, over his shoulder. “No. Go away.”
“Xavier-”
He groans and forces himself out of bed. “Let me get dressed and then I’ll meet with you guys after.”
“No need. I’ll be just outside the door,” she smiles and walks away.
He pursed his lips and searches for his uniform.
You walk by him, narrowly avoiding him as he passes by.
Your scent fills the room, a flash of memories swirl through his mind and he realizes something; his heart doesn’t feel as heavy today but he’s still sad.
Could this be what people talk about when they say they still miss a loved one and are comforted by certain things that person enjoyed or like?
He slowly drags his blazer over his hoodie, you’re favorite one, in fact.
He stares out the window and realizes, it’s rainy days like these where he needs a little more comfort and security.
-
He sits at your guy's table in the courtyard, mindlessly sketching something new in his sketchbook.
Ajax sits down next to him. He catches the sight of Xavier’s dull and methodically designed pencil. “Hey, isn’t that-”
Divina and Kent kick his shins, to which the gargoyle groans and rubs the now sore spot. “What?”
They shake their heads.
He huffs through his nose. “You guys don’t need to worry. I’m fine.”
“You said that before and walked out of class,” Bianca points out, sitting down beside Divina.
“Okay, fine.” Xavier sighs. “But I mean it this time. Today- today… feels different.”
“Good different? Or bad different?” Yoko asks.
“Honestly, I don’t know. I’m just trying to make it through the day so I can go back to bed.”
A couple of gasps could be heard a few of his friends at the table.
“Did we just hear resident tortured artist make a joke?” Enid asks, setting her lunch tray beside Yoko’s.
He chuckles through his nose, “you’re still rolling with that nickname?”
She shrugs, “that’s what we always liked to call you.”
No one says anything or nudges her to stop talking.
“It’s my title.”
Her lips curve upwards, enjoying their small familiar banter; something they haven’t done in a while. “It is… and it’s never going away.”
“I wouldn’t expect anything less.” This is nice, this is what everyone’s been wanting to happen but knew it had to come on his time and couldn’t rush him. They’re just happy they can see a little bit of a happier Xavier even if they still miss you.
-
Extended ending You smile and watch as he has lunch with your old friends, now you can stop coming around so much to check up on him. “He’s tough,” you whisper to yourself.
He’s going to be okay.
You turn around and walk away, wiping your cheeks knowing you won’t be together for a long time but hope that he’s able to live a long and happy life without you in it.
As long as he has his friends by his side, everything will be a little better for him.
You decide to spend the “rest” of your days at the art shack, wanting to feel closer to Xavier. You wander around and trace every one of his sketches with your finger, still as fascinated as ever by his skills.
The door opens; Xavier removes his blazer, tossing it off to the side so he can tie his hair back and work out his feelings.
He stops at the sight of one of the flowers from your bouquet, laying on top of his most recent sketch book.
He picks it up and sets it to the side when he sees a card that says, “I’ll be waiting. Take your time. I’ll still be here.” He squeezes his eyes shut, holding in his tears.
You step forward and place an arm around his shoulder, resting your head against his.
You have to let go of Xavier in order for him to live his life.
“I will never forget you,” you whisper before kissing his cheek, something for him to remember you by.
He can feel that your presence disappears, and the tears roll down his cheeks.
Neither of you would have admitted it, but it was necessary.
You had to leave him in order for him to grieve properly and not hold onto hope that you would somehow come back to him.
Sometimes people leave and sometimes they don’t. In this case, it's both.

Bloodied petals - Xavier Thorpe x reader | Part.4
Summary: You remember memories of your childhood with Xavier, hoping to get some courage from it to talk things out with him. Wednesday starts to suspect something, and Principal Weems isn't happy with either of you.
Warnings: angst, mention of blood, underage drinking, swearing. IMPORTANT: the last part of the taglist had made my tumblr bug so hard so it didn't work, I'm sorry for those who hadn't received a notification while being tagged. If the problem continues for further parts, I'll consider deleting the taglist bc fuck I just lost 40 minutes re-editing this chapter 3 times before finally achieving to post it
[Masterlist] [Part.1] [Part.2] [Part.3]
Tumblr media
Xavier had been your first kiss. You doubted he remembered it but you definitely did. When your aunt had dropped you at the Thorpe manor for the first time, you were just turning 6 and had that funny haircut that almost hid your eyes. Your aunt Cordelia wasn’t so fond of this hairstyle, but things had been hard for you since your mom’s passing less than six months ago; taking care of the birdnest you were calling hair could wait for the situation to settle down.
Aunt Cordelia had explained to you that you were going to live with a dear friend of hers for some time because she couldn’t take you with her to an upcoming witch congress on the other side of the world. Couldn’t or wouldn’t you didn’t know, to you the only thing that mattered was that you were going to a foreign place, and your mom wasn’t here anymore to comfort you.
“You’ll be fine here,” had assured your aunt while your luggage was taken out of a car by the butler.
“Can’t I come with you?” you had asked again with a wobbling lip and watery eyes.
“You know you can’t pumpkin,” said Aunt Cordelia. “Mr.Thorpe has a son about your age, I’m sure you’ll become friends very fast.”
And just like that, she left, and you found yourself alone in a manor you didn’t know.
Mr.Thorpe had been intimidating but the good thing was he hadn’t more time for you than your aunt did, and as soon he introduced himself to you he left too. So you had fled to your new room and hidden in the closet to cry. You didn’t want to be here, you didn’t even want to be raised by Aunt Cordelia ; you wanted your mom, but that was impossible now.
Then, you had heard the creak of the closet’s door being opened and you had timidly peaked up from behind your hand. A little boy was crouching down to your level, looking at you curiously with his big hazel eyes.
“Why are you sad?” he had asked with his childish voice.
Taken aback by his question, you had wiped the tears on your cheeks, “I’m not sad, I’m just lonely.”
He had looked at you curiously; then he had raised his little hand to brush away the hair that was obstructing your face. The gesture had made you flinch a bit, but he was gentle and somehow, you had felt like you could trust this boy. He had beamed, exposing the gap left by a missing tooth.
“You have pretty eyes!” he had exclaimed.
“Thanks?” you had said unsure, still sniffling.
He nodded vigorously, his smile plastered on his chubby face. Then he extended his hand to you. “Wanna get out of here? I know where the cookies are hidden, we can search for them together, it’ll be fun!”
This brought a small smile to your face for the first time in weeks, and you had taken his hand. Within the next few days, you had your hair cut. That’s how you met Xavier Thorpe.
From there, your friendship bloomed. Aunt Cordelia tried to spend at least six months a year with you, and you lived at her house for that time. Well, she tried, and sometimes you found yourself dropped by the Thorpe manor more than intended. This didn’t bother you, you enjoyed Xavier’s company, and you were best friends after all. And considering his own father was also absent frequently, he loved when you were there. When you turned 12, your aunt brought you along on her trips to make a sort of pilgrimage around all the important sites of witchcraft around the world. According to her, it was time for you to learn more about your history and soak up their energy. The trip was so long, you didn’t see Xavier for two whole years. And when you came back to the Thorpe manor at 14, the both of you had changed a lot. Gone was the little boy with scraped knees and round cheeks, the teenager you met at the door was lanky and definitely taller than you now.
“Hey,” he had greeted you with a lopsided grin. The twinkle in his eyes though hadn’t changed the slightest.
“Hi,” you had smiled back. “You’ve let your hair grow,” you noticed.
“You lost the braces,” he counter-attacked, not losing his smile for a second.
He opened his arms and you didn’t lose a breath before diving into the hug. Oh, you had missed him. You had thought that everything would be like usual, but since puberty, you definitely noticed that things had indeed changed between you two. Your aunt asked a little more about Xavier when you went home, and you didn’t look at him the same way. He was more…attractive somehow; you loved the long hair. The same week you came back, the two of you went to a party with some of his friends from the normie school he went to. This wasn’t the first time any of you had alcohol, but it definitely was the first time you got drunk. A silly game was suggested and in your already advanced tipsy state, you and Xavier had thought this would be fun. You remembered vaguely the rules being to spin a bottle and then kiss someone or drink to avoid it, or something. To be honest most of your memories of that night were kind of blurry ; but when the bottle had pointed in your direction and your eyes had met Xavier’s, you distinctly remember your heart missing a beat. Maybe you had thought about protesting or something, maybe your mind had been too cloudy to properly ponder whether or not you should do this. It didn’t matter, because the next thing you knew then, Xavier had leaned to you and had pressed his lips against yours. That’s how you got your first kiss, by kissing your best friend during a drinking game.
The next day the hangover had been so hard, Xavier didn’t remember half of the previous evening, not even your kiss. But you definitely did. Over the years you had forced yourself to push it down, thinking it was only a silly teenagers game and that you shouldn’t get too excited about this.
Thinking about this now, you thought that you had been in love with Xavier for far longer than you imagined. You should have seen it coming, and yet here you were, with flowers slowly growing in your lungs because of your feelings.
You were wandering in Jericho as the other Nevermore students were dispatched in different areas for Outreach day. Principal Weems had reminded you that everyone’s presence was requested for the inauguration ceremony at the end of the day – that yes, even you miss L/N are to attend this. Then she had let you free for the remainder of the day, and you were glad she did. You had a few things to buy at Jericho, this could be the occasion. But while you were making your purchases you were starting to realize that you were only postponing the moment when you’ll eventually have to talk with Xavier.
He had left the Nightshades’ crypt quite upset, it pained you even more to know that he was mad at you. You needed to fix this and fast. So you ended up pushing the Weathervane’s doors  open, eyes searching for familiar hazel hair. Enid had texted you where Xavier had the displeasure of working that day and reading the coffee shop's name had made you wince. Hopefully, Tyler won't be working today.
“Hey L/N,” you heard from the counter and you cursed internally. Turning to the counter, you narrowed your eyes at the curly-haired boy.
“Galpin,” you greeted him half-heartedly as you came closer. Ever since what he and his friends had done to Xavier on last year’s Outreach day, you despised him.
“Do you, uh, want to order something?” he asked.
God, the way he acted all innocent and kind made you want to punch him in the face. On any other day you probably would have, but right now you were just drained.
“Sure,” you finally let out, “I’ll have a large cappuccino with two shots of espresso, please.”
“Coming right up,” he said before starting to make your order, and you find a seat next to the window.
For a moment, you put your face in your hands like it would give you some peace for a while. Everything had escalated so quickly, you didn’t even know if there was going to be an actual end to all of this.
The sound of a mug being dropped in front of you on the table made you look up, and the sight of Xavier surprised you.
“Tyler mentioned that you had ordered something,” he explained to your surprised expression.
Glancing to the boy awkwardly standing behind the counter, who tried to look like he was busy and not looking at the two of you, you gave him the slightest nod of the head as a thanks. Xavier sat on the opposite bench, arms plopped on the table nervously.
“Look I–”
“There’s something–” you both started at the same time. It made you chuckle nervously, “Go on,” you pressed him gently.
He passed a hand through his hair nervously, “I- I’m sorry I’ve been such a dick yesterday, okay?”. The guilt in his eyes was evident and you were relieved to hear that he had calmed down. “I shouldn’t have called you a liar.”
“No, that’s on me,” you muttered, playing with the still untouched mug. “I’m…not feeling well these days,” you finally admitted.
Xavier’s eyebrows knitted together in worry. To his knowledge, you never had any serious health issues. The flu once in a while maybe, but nothing that sounded that bad. He leaned closer to you over the table, a serious look on his face.
“What’s going on?” he asked in a hushed, yet gentle voice.
Suddenly, all the courage you had built up vanished. You had been so confident that you were going to tell Xavier everything, that this was the only way of making things right. You felt like you owed him that, after all, he had everything to do with your condition.
But as you were about to expose the truth to him…something stopped you.
The feeling of a warm hand on your trembling ones made you snap back to reality. Xavier’s face was fully painted in worry now.
“You okay?” he asked. “You zoned out for a second.”
You nodded slowly, gulping. No need to lie to yourself, you knew exactly what was stopping you from telling Xavier everything. The fear of losing him. Deep down you were afraid that if you told him about the Hanahaki disease, and what – who – caused it, he would end up leaving you. And you were far more afraid of losing Xavier than you were of coughing flowers. Because without Xavier, you feared that you'd end up alone again. And you never wanted to ever feel like that again.
Licking your lips, you wondered what you should say to him. So you lied again.
“I’m ill,” you blurted out. “I got sick around a week ago, that’s why I’ve been so distant lately.”
Technically, you weren’t really lying to him. It had been more than a week since the first symptoms, but the rest was true. You simply choose…not to disclose everything.
“Shit,” he swore under his breath, “are you feeling okay? What is it?”
“I’m fine,” you squeezed his hand in reassurance, “I had no idea of what it was until recently so…”
“Is this serious?” he inquired again.
Flashes of the pages mentioning the inevitable death of patients appeared in your mind.
“No,” you finally let out. “I’ll get better at some point I’m sure. Bought a few things to make a potion to ease the symptoms.”
Xavier glanced at your bag and nodded. Whether or not he believed you, he didn’t press the matter further.
“I should have been honest with you sooner, it’s just…it had been a couple of rough weeks,” you said with a weak smile.
He nodded in understanding, still you could see he was still worried about you. “Yeah, I get it…between that, Wednesday's arrival and the whole monster thing it had been a little bit crazy, right?”
You slightly frowned at him. It wasn’t it, he was misreading the situation completely! As you were about to say something, you suddenly became very aware of faint whispers around you. So did Xavier apparently because the two of you whipped your heads around at the same time. Glancing behind your shoulder you noticed a group of normies teenagers throwing glances at you, whispering and giggling among themselves. Some of their words reached your ears.
“...think…’re together?...”
“maybe…freaks…from Neverm…”
“...kinda cute…couple…”
You felt your face burn. Not in shame, but for the first time in the possibility of what it implied. Many people had mistaken Xavier and you as a couple before, but it was the first time you truly felt flustered by the idea of it.
Then Xavier pulled his hand off of yours and the sudden loss of contact made your heart drop. He sank into his seat further, putting more distance between the two of you. Eyes flickering to him in disbelief, you only met his sorry expression.
“I didn’t want to make you uncomfortable,” he muttered while casting his eyes away.
You wanted to protest, to say that it didn’t make you uncomfortable at all, but words were stuck in your throat. As were petals.
“I should probably go back to work,” said Xavier while getting up. “But I’ll finish in an hour, if you want to wait?”
“Sure,” you mumbled.
Tears started to burn behind your eyes. This wasn’t how it was supposed to go at all. The light ring of the doorbell made both of your heads turn to Wednesday who had just arrived. Her sole presence, usually not unwelcomed, was dreadful to you and you felt like you were becoming lightheaded. The burning inside your chest bloomed and the whole coffee shop felt suffocating. Raising from your seat abruptly you gathered your bag and vest without a word.
“Where are you doing?” asked Xavier lightly touching your shoulder.
“I’m- I’m not feeling well,” you excused yourself, which made Wednesday raise her eyebrow as she came to your side. “I need some air.” Feeling Xavier’s worried eyes on your back you squeezed the hand on your shoulder. “We’ll talk about this later, okay?” you whispered to him.
He seemed to hesitate, but between your pleading eyes and the intense bored expression on Wednesday’s face, he finally conceded.
“Okay,” he said softly. “I’ll see you later.”
You smiled weakly at him before rushing to the exit, head low. Walking rapidly through the streets you hurried until you found an empty alley which you immediately rushed into before throwing up in a garbage can. The flowers and blood mixed together regurgitated from your sore throat, as quickly as they had appeared within your chest. Tears flooded down your cheeks as the last petals left your mouth. Coughing fits were getting more and more unpredictable. You choked on your own breath, mouth tasting bitter and throat ablaze. If you didn’t do something real quick, you were going to die. But for now, you just felt so, so tired. Weems and the inaugural ceremony be damned, you were going back to Nevermore to sleep your problems away. Then, you’ll take it from here.
Tumblr media
In the end, returning to the school to sleep and avoid facing your problems gave you more problems. A few hours later you were standing in Principal Weems’ office alongside Wednesday, getting a lecture about setting Crackstone’s statue on fire.
“For the hundredth time, I didn’t set fire to that statue!” you pleaded to the principal.
“And what evidence of your innocence do you have, miss L/N?” snapped Weems back. “Should you have attended the ceremony like you were supposed to, we wouldn’t have this conversation.”
“I attended this ridiculous ceremony,” noted Wednesday out loud, “yet you’re suspecting me too.”
She shot a deadly glare at your impassable roommate, “And I have every reason to miss Addams. The two of you had good motives to set this statue on fire, and miss L/N had mysteriously disappeared just before the ceremony.”
“I wasn’t feeling well that’s all,” you tried to defend yourself. “Do you really think I’d brand myself a witch in front of all of Jericho? Those people hate my guts, I don’t want to have anything to do with their shitty town!”
Weem’s hand hit her desk with force, “Mind your language, young lady!”
Wednesday only rolled her eyes at the whole ordeal. You on the other hand, were pretty sure she had something to do with it – but unlike you she had a solid alibi. And surprisingly, she stepped in your defense.
“Y/N is right about not feeling well these days,” she interjected, making both Weems’ head and yours snap to her. “She sometimes coughs in her sleep, this is very unpleasant.”
Principal Weems narrowed her eyes at you, “Is that true, miss L/N? Have you fallen ill?”
You nodded slowly, “Just small flu. Must’ve caught a cold during the Poe cup.”
The principal looked pointedly at the two of you, breathing hard through her nostril. Then she threw an accusatory finger at your pair.
“I want,” she articulated slowly, “the two of you out of my office. Now. And I don’t want to ever hear about you either.”
None of you needed to be asked twice. Once in the corridors and far enough from Weems’ office, you turned to Wednesday.
“Thank you for having my back with Weems,” you said quietly, “you didn’t have to do that.”
“No I didn’t,” she repeated. “I was right, you do cough at night and it is unpleasant.”
That made you frown slightly. None of your roommates shouldn’t have been able to hear you, you still casted the silencing spell every night.
“Since when?”
“About a week,” she said, while narrowing her eyes.
You started to think hard. It had been far more than a week since you had started to cast the spell. This was basic magic, a simple but efficient spell that you had been practising for years. There was no reason for you to fail it. The only logical explanation…was that your magic was weakening. The natural reaction for your mind would be to list every reason for it not to be possible, but then you thought about the sudden stop of your spell during the Poe cup, which had made your boat stop dead in its tracks; and so it added up. The disease had not only damaged your body, but it had also consequences on your powers. This was definitely concerning.
“You are indeed sick, aren’t you?” asked Wednesday. At the surprised look on your face, she quickly added, “Don’t think I care, I’m just readjusting your position on my suspects' list by considering all the parameters.”
You scoffed in disbelief “I’m on your suspect list? No shit, Wednesday?”
“It is perfectly plausible,” she said plainly. “With your powers and knowledge in potions, you have the ability to increase your strength I suspect, and you know the school’s grounds by heart,” you heard her listing, “you’ve spent more time alone than usual for the past weeks, with no one to testify of your presence elsewhere than on the crime scenes, and when I started to suspect Xavier you immediately fled to his defence without proof, like you knew for sure he couldn’t be the monster. So tell me Y/N,” she continued while looking at you dead in the eye, “why couldn’t you be the killer?”
Struck by her question you could only blink in disbelief. What. the. hell?
“Excuse me what?” you articulated after long seconds of silence.
“You should be honored,” she said flatly, “it requires some skills to be added to a potential suspect list.”
“I don’t want to be on a fucking suspect list,” you spat, “you’re delusional Wednesday.”
“My observations and suppositions are rarely wrong, I’m not the one burying herself in denial.”
Stepping closer to her you gritted your teeth together. “I can’t be the monster, I literally can’t.”
“What proof do you have of that?” she retorted.
Fuming, you tried to not play her game. But staying calm in front of her insolent lay back behavior was starting to be incredibly harder. “Drop it,” you spat.
“You’re just proving me right.”
That’s when you lost it, “I CAN’T BECAUSE I’M FUCKING DYING OKAY?” you roared at her.
For a moment, nothing but echoes of your words resonated within the corridor’s walls. Your ragged breaths contrasted with Wednesday’s neutral expression, unfazed by your scream. Only after a few seconds of a mortifying silence did you realize what you just did because you had lost your nerves. Shutting your eyes tightly you internally prayed that no one around heard you.
“I don’t think you’re lying,” simply said Wednesday.
You let out a scoff, “I’m not, trust me. I’m sick, and my health is deteriorating every day. If you don’t want to believe me that’s fine but leave me the fuck out of your stupid list.”
She raised an unimpressed eyebrow at you, “Until you’re blessed with black plague, I doubt you’ll die because of whatever sickness you have.”
“God, can you stop being that infuriating for once?” you snapped bitterly. “I’ve done every possible research on the subject and I know I’m doomed, okay?”
A silence took place between the two of you. You whipped away tears that had gathered at the corner of your eyes. It was the first time you had admitted it out loud ; it hurt more than you thought.
“I’m sorry to hear about your condition,” said Wednesday quietly ; and now matter how surprised you were by her words, you still thanked her quietly. “Does a cure exist?”
“Not that I’m aware of,” you muttered. “It…healing doesn’t depend on me.” At her frown, you lightly shrugged. “Flowers are growing in my lungs because of unrequited romantic feelings,” you explained quietly. “Eventually, I’ll either die from internal bleeding or choking.”
This time, it was her turn to scoff, “You’re plagued with a deadly disease because you have feelings for someone? You just gave me the final proof that feelings are indeed useless, thank you.”
“I don’t fucking need your sarcasm,” you seethed, “if you want to be a stone-cold bitch that’s on you, but no need to mock me for having actual feelings. I didn’t choose this.”
She looked at you closely, like she was trying to figure out something. Which she apparently did rather quickly: “It’s Xavier, isn’t it? He’s the one you have…feelings for.”
You turned your face away, licking your lips. Wednesday was really the last person you wanted to have this conservation with.
“You’re getting weak and you’re losing your powers because you have feelings for a meaningless man,” she repeated. “I thought you were better than that.”
“Fuck off Wednesday,” you cried, finally reaching your breaking point. “I’m not asking to understand, I’m not even asking you to be compassionate but shit, for once in your life be respectful of someone’s privacy.”
With that, you turned away and rushed into the corridors. You didn’t want to hate Wednesday, she had done nothing to you ; even regarding Xavier’s feelings, you were confident that her arrival hadn’t triggered your condition. Maybe it had accelerated it, but sooner or later Xavier would have fallen in love with someone else, and you would have been doomed anyway. So yeah, you didn’t want to hate Wednesday Addams ; but she definitely didn’t make things easy.
Tumblr media
A little less than an hour later, you found yourself walking through the school’s woods. The heated discussion with Wednesday had strangely given you enough courage to go and find Xavier, and finally explain everything to him. Weakened by your feelings? My ass! you thought. You were going to tell what was going on with you to Xavier, and to hell with the consequences on your friendship.
You soon reached his artist shed in the middle of the woods. Its reassuring aura made you a little more at ease than the very public space of the Weathervane. Knocking on the door, you waited for Xavier to answer you. When he opened the door, you let out a loud gasp at the wound on his neck.
“Holy shit, what happened to you?” you asked while pushing him back inside immediately before coming in. You immediately went to take a look at his bleeding jaw, carefully tilting his chin to the side.
“Just an accident with a painting, nothing too bad,” he tried to reassure you.
“Nothing bad? Xavier, you have claw marks bleeding on your neck, this isn’t some small scratch!”
You could see that he was trying to brush it away, but you forced him to sit on a stool while you inspected the extent of his injuries. It didn’t look so bad, you could probably do something about it. Carefully dragging your fingers on the outlines of the claw marks you whispered a healing spell. The bleeding gradually stopped, and the cells of the skin started to slowly repair themselves. Though it started here, and the marks were still here looking like fresh scars. You gritted your teeth in frustration. With the full extent of your powers, you could have probably healed him completely.
“That should do,” you muttered with a small smile.
“Thanks,” he smiled back. “So,” he said after a few seconds of silence, “guess we need to talk, uh?”
“Yeah,” you chuckled awkwardly, “guess we do.”
You fidgeted with your sleeve, toying with words in your mind. It was always more difficult to launch a subject when the time had come.
“I’m not doing well,” you said, trying to resume the discussion where it had been left out back at the Weathervane, “and I’m not sure if I can really get better…on my own.”
Xavier leaned forward, fully focused on the matter. “How can I help you?”
You almost wanted to cry. He wanted so much to help you while having no idea of how bad the situation was.
“This is…kind of complicated to talk about,” you hesitated. But to your surprise, Xavier gently took your hand into one of his bigger ones.
“Hey,” he called softly, “you know you can tell me anything, right?”
After a slight hesitation, you nodded slowly. Yet words didn’t seem to come out of your mouth. You started to open your mouth to finally confess, but something caught your eye. A large canvas hung on an easel, all in black and white tones. Like pulled by the invisible force of curiosity you slowly approached it, your hand slipping away from Xavier’s. As you approached and noticed who was painted you felt your heart sink into your chest. The painted figure of Wednesday playing her cello was taunting you, and it painfully reminded you of that night in Xavier’s room, when he had started to sketch it. It reminded you that you had no chance.
Xavier called out for you from behind. But when you turned back to him, he was met with the look of your teary eyes.
“You see, that’s why I can’t tell you,” you whispered sadly, “I can’t spoil this from you.”
“What are you talking about?” he frowned.
“This,” you said, gesturing at the portrait, “I can’t ruin your happiness with my burden, Xav.”
“Y/N please,” he said getting up, “please tell me what’s going on.”
You shook your head, defeated. “I can’t,” you whispered weakly. “Sorry I- I got to go.”
Before Xavier could react you slipped away and rushed outside of the shed. Tears were running down your cheeks but you couldn’t care less. It was clear that you could never interfere in Xavier’s feelings for Wednesday, so why bother saying anything to him at all? You heard him call you as soon as you had crossed the door but you didn’t dare to turn back and face him. He managed to grab your wrist when you were barely a few meters away from the shed.
“Please don’t shut me out,” he begged you. You still couldn’t face him on your own, so he gently tucked on your hand, turning you to him. “Please Y/N, tell me what’s going on with you, ‘cause I can guess on my own.”
Hesitantly, you looked up at him. Even though your eyes were blurry because of tears, you couldn’t help yourself but lose yourself in the admiration of his face. His brown eyes, so deep and full of compassion, his sharp features framed by soft hazel eyes…you wanted to print this image in your mind for however long you had still to live. Just like that night in his room, your eyes flickered to his lips. This time you didn’t hesitate, and you leaned forward and pressed your lips against his.
He flinched slightly, for the first second. But then he surprised himself thinking how soft your lips felt against his own.
You stayed like this for long seconds. Keeping your eyes closed and savouring the moment, you then realized that Xavier wasn’t moving at all. Biting back the bitter feeling within your guts, you slowly parted from him. Xavier simply stood up there frozen in place ; not understanding why you had kissed him so suddenly. At his lack of reaction and dumbfounded expression, you wanted to cry again so badly. Instead, you looked up at him.
“I wanted to do that at least once,” you whispered. No matter how you had tried to keep them at bay, tears were flooding down your cheeks now.
Still stuck down in place, Xavier didn’t know what to say. But the face of his best friend, teared apart by pain and sadness, was already too much to handle for him.
“I- I’m sorry Y/N,” he muttered, “I don’t…I like you, I truly do but…but not like this.”
Through your tears, you tried to smile ; it was a pathetic attempt. “Yeah…I know,” you whispered weakly.
It would have been easier if you had the ability to vanish away on the spot. It would have made you avoid moving away from Xavier and returning to the school painfully slowly, each of your steps burdened by the weight of your broken heart and the knowledge that Xavier hadn’t even tried to stop you. It would also have saved you from running into Wednesday once again, and hearing her asking Xavier out for the ball in the distance. It would have.
But you couldn’t vanish, instead, you were here shedding every tear you had along bloodied flowers, not even trying to stop either of them.
You just had your heart shattered into a million pieces and the confirmation that there was no hope for you. You were doomed, and the flowers growing inside of your lungs would soon reach your body’s breaking point.

"Here you are!"
You thank Thornhill before stepping into the empty classroom. The bag on your shoulders is heavy as it is filled with countless jars of ingredients, incense, candles and different types of water. To top it all off, it had a thick book filled with all the spells and sigils you know.
There was a history test coming up, and you thought of the perfect way to learn from it; seeing the past.
Sure, it might be a bit extreme, but if you have the power to do it, you might as well use that to your advantage. From what you know, you have everything to perform the spell.
No one else was going to enter the classroom any time soon, so you could use all the tables to put your stuff down. Jar after jar, candle after candle came out of your bag before it neatly got placed in its own spot. For a spell this hard, you needed all the space and organization you could get.
You had performed this spell once before, but it had been a while. The last time, you only went backward a week. You only wanted to know at what time you were going to meet your friend later that day.
Now you were going to try to go back to the 1600s to learn about Joseph Crackstone. Sure, the entire city knew of the history, but none of them have truly lived it. Pilgrim World is just a poor excuse for trying to remake it while selling fudge. You are not a Crackstone fan considering he would have killed you back in those days, but he wouldn't be able to see you in the past anyway.
With the spells that you performed, you turned invisible when being in a place where you shouldn't be. It is like watching a movie. You see them, yet they don't see you. You open your journal, flipping through the pages before seeing the one you need. It had a sigil on it already, one connected to the Retrocognition spell.
Just as you light your first candle, the door swings open. You look up, slightly annoyed. Did Thornhill rent the room out to another student?
"You're here?"
Out of all students, it had to be Xavier.
For some reason, the two of you never got along. Not because you didn't want to befriend him - no. He just decided to be a complete ass to you since the beginning. The two of you were in the same friend group, yet he never spoke a positive word to you. It would always be something snarky or negative.
"Yeah?" You raise an eyebrow. "Thornhill told me that I could use it. It was going to be empty the entire day anyway."
"I was allowed to use it for my Botany homework."
"Xavier," you groan. "Just use the other half of the classroom. Just... Stay out of my way. I have a History test that I need to learn for."
He circles your table as you only keep setting things up. You can't have him messing up your spell. More candles get lit as you crush up some flowers and herbs.
"Is this your homework?" He lets out a laugh. "I wish my homework consisted of scribbles and some seasoning."
You roll your eyes as you place each ingredient in its designated spot. If he messes up your spell, you will kill him.
"It's not just some scribbles. They're called sigils, dumbass," a sigh leaves your lips. "And they are for history class. There is a test coming up."
Another laugh leaves Xavier as he flips through your journal.
"How are some pen marks and rose leaves going to teach you History?"
"Xavier, we both know you're too dumb to understand this. Just go to the other side of the classroom and don't bother me."
The last thing you needed was the journal. You had to place it in the circle of candles, drawing the sigil while saying the incantation. But, considering the tall boy had your book, you couldn't get the spell started. He is flipping through the pages with a big grin on his face.
"Oh, look at me!"
He takes hold of some rose petals, sprinkling them around on the table and the floor.
"I am Y/N," he lets out a laugh before grabbing more ingredients, spilling them on the table.
"Xavier, stop it! You're messing with my spells!"
"That's not true," he takes hold of your hand before pushing a pen into it. "I am merely helping with your 'oh so important' History homework!"
He takes your hand to write on the paper, making random shapes and lines.
"Look! I could be a witch, this is easy."
"Xavier! Stop being so annoying!"
You take the pen off of the paper as Xavier's hand still holds yours, but to your surprise, the paper actually starts glowing. No way that he had activated a spell.
"Retrocognition?"
A bright light exploded in the room, making you shield your eyes with your hand. Xavier also lets out a yelp, what the fuck happened?
When the light dims, you finally open your eyes again.
"Where the fuck are we?"
In front of you is a house. A beautiful one, but certainly not one from the 1600s. Music can be heard from inside, together with some talking and you even hear a meow.
Someone walks past you, carrying a bag on their shoulders. He is tall and his hair flows to his shoulders. The man is not that old, though older than you and Xavier now. A smile is on his face as he walks up to the house.
"Wait a second," you let out a giggle. "Is that you?"
Xavier walks up to the guy as you follow him. It certainly was. His face looks almost the same, yet a bit more mature. It is like he is looking in a mirror, one that shows him his future.
"You look old," you laugh, elbowing the artist.
"Shut up," he rolls his eyes. "What happened with that stupid spell that you were trying to cast?"
"Someone happened to fuck it up," you narrow your eyes at him before nodding to the door. "I'm going to see what your old ass is up to."
Future Xavier unlocks the door, allowing you and Present Xavier to slip inside. Not that they would see you anyway. The music gets a bit louder as you hear some movement from what seems to be the kitchen.
"Love? I'm home!"
"Aw," you look at Present Xavier, trying to hold in your laughter. "Someone is dumb enough to be stuck with you. That's sweet."
"You jealous?" Xavier raises an eyebrow as he looks down at you. "At least I know that I won't be alone in the future."
You roll your eyes, slowly following Future Xavier around.
"Look! He is even wearing a wedding ring!"
The house truly is beautiful. It is filled with plants in different corners, a cozy couch, a big kitchen, and huge windows. If you didn't know any better, then you would surely have said that this is your dream house.
"I'm in here!"
Your eyebrows furrow when you hear the new voice. It is strangely similar, but... it can't be, right? Xavier catches up to you, not fully sure what to do. He has never been in a spell like this before. Hell, he didn't even know any spells. Sure, he would say 'open sesame' when trying to unlock his door if his hands were full, but the door never swung open.
You stop in your tracks when your eyes fall on the new figure.
In the kitchen is a shorter girl, one looking exactly like you. Her height, her body language, her voice, and her face. What are you doing here with Xavier? A high-pitched laughter can be heard as Future Xavier hurries to the table, dropping his bag before picking up a small girl.
"There's my favorite girls!"
Future you also has a ring on her finger, one that fits together with Future Xavier. Present Xavier stops walking as he takes in the three figures.
There he is. Holding a young girl with one arm while the other is resting on your shoulders, pulling you into him as Future you lets out a giggle.
"What the fuck?" Xavier whispers.
It was weird enough to see himself in the future, even if he didn't change too much. But it is even weirder to see himself together with you, and with a child. You are also frozen in place, your eyes fixated on the three figures in front of you. What type of spell is this? Is this actually real? Or is this only your imagination playing tricks on you? Surely not. If Xavier can see it, then it must actually be happening, right?
"I'm getting out of this," Xavier groans, turning around to walk back out of the front door before his eyes fall on an item.
On the wall hangs a big canvas with a very specific scene on it. Future him in a neat, black suit. Next to him stands Future you, dressed in a long gown. Both have big smiles on their faces. His fingers twitch, did he paint that? The picture almost seems to move in front of him as the figures get closer and closer, sharing a soft and loving kiss before returning to their original positions.
"Y/N, get us out of here!"
Xavier is confused and even slightly scared. You break your stare as you look over to the tall artist. With only a nod, you take his hands in yours, whispering an incantation to break whatever spell you were in right now.
Another bright light makes you close your eyes as you return to the Nevermore classroom. Xavier pulls his hands out of yours harshly.
"What was that!?"
"I don't know!" You let out a deep sigh.
Your journal had stopped glowing, only pen stripes from whatever sigil Xavier had come up with are left on the page. You run your fingers over it, confused as you try to read off of the pages.
"It's precognition," you let out a whisper. "We were supposed to see the past, but instead... it was the future."
Xavier lets out a short laugh before shaking his head.
"Whatever that was is not my future."
He slings his bag back on his shoulders, glaring at you as he backs up.
"We will never talk about this. Ever."
You weren't in the mood anymore to try any other spell. Instead, you just cleaned up the mess of flower petals and herbs before retreating to your dorm.
-
The spell had really messed you up.
After that dreaded day, you had tried multiple times to find out what happened. To find out if it was true. But no matter which color of candle you used, or what type of incantation, they all gave you the same answer.
This was your future.
Xavier Thorpe.
You tried to talk to him, maybe if you did, you could avoid the future that he seems to hate so much. Sure, Xavier wasn't your best friend either, but at least you don't despise him as much as he despises you. He is pretty and mesmerizing, but the way he treated you was just the worst.
He would sit on the opposite side of the table during lunch breaks, and would completely ignore you before, during, or after classes.
"Xavier looks even angrier than usual," Ajax snickers. "What did you do this time?"
You roll your eyes as you read through your journal. Is there really not any other Truth or Future spell out there?
"Absolutely nothing," you shrug. "Maybe he is in one of his moods."
"I don't know," the Gorgon chews on the end of his pencil. "He's been really moody this past week."
You don't really respond. What are you supposed to say? 'Oh, he found out that he and I are married in the future and he absolutely hates it.' That sounds incredibly stupid. Even if it is true.
-
Later that night you sat in your dorm yet again. Around you is a circle of candles in all sorts of colors, their flames the only source of light. It feels like you have read every single page of all your Witchcraft books at least five times, yet you still haven't found any spells to help you out. There has to be something that can show you a different future, right?
A knock on your door pulls you out of your focused state. Who would be at your door right now? You don't have a dorm mate, and from what you knew, most of your friends were out to Jericho. You stand up from your seat, walking up to the door to open it. Behind it stands Xavier with a tired look in his eyes and his sketchbook in his hands.
"Can I come in?" He mumbles softly, looking down at you with the softest look he has ever given you.
You step to the side, allowing the artist to enter your room. He stays silent. No snarky comment, nothing mean. Just silence.
"Have you found anything else?"
The only answer you give him is a shake of your head. You had really tried. Xavier his reaction during the spell was enough - he didn't want this future. At least, not with you.
"Can we try again?"
His question shocks you. He wants to enter the spell again? Go through more scenarios of the two of you together?
"Are you sure?"
He nods, placing his sketchbook onto your bed before stepping into the circle. You just quickly follow him, opening the page of scribbles that Xavier had drawn before. His hands are already reaching for yours when you speak the incantation.
Another bright light.
This time, you aren't in front of the house. Instead, you appeared in it, already. There is no furniture around you. No curtains, no couch, no table, not even a wooden floor.
"I can't believe this!"
Future you squeals as she runs around the house, inspecting every room once more.
"Look! This one can be your art studio, and then the room next to it can be for my spells and potions!"
The woman pulls Future Xavier with her, holding his hand tightly as she spits out different ideas for the space.
Present Xavier swallows thickly, his hands balled up into fists.
"Are you okay?" You whisper, looking up at his taller figure.
"I have seen this before."
How would he have seen this before? He knows nothing of witchcraft - the spell he performed before was just a simple accident. The spell ends quite quickly, returning to just you and Xavier in the middle of your bedroom. It stays quiet. The only movement comes from the lit candles whose flames are moving in the non-existing wind.
"Why did you want to see it again?" You softly speak up. "You hate the outcome. It didn't change one bit."
The boy shakes his head, reaching for his sketchbook before flipping through the pages, stopping at one specific drawing which seems familiar.
"I haven't been able to sleep this entire week," he admits. "I had these dreams. Dreams that felt like the one spell. I drew all of them."
He holds his hand up on the page, the figure of you pulling Xavier with you before disappearing behind one of the pencil lines. You can almost hear your excited chattering and Xavier's laughter. But that is not the only thing he drew.
Different dates, your wedding, even sketches from the little girl.
Everything was exactly as the spell had told you.
"I convinced myself for so long," he mumbles. "I tried to tell myself that I didn't like you. That, if I ignored you, you would stay out of my way. But I don't want to do that anymore."
You let out a giggle, looking up at him.
"Alright," you whisper. "We can start over?"
Xavier looks at you, a relieved look on his face as he nods. Though the future scared him, he now does truly want it. He felt like he didn't deserve a future with you after how he treated you. But, he might change his mind. He might be able to change himself and make up for all the times he wished he could hold you, kiss you, be with you.
"Yeah," he nods with a smile before he holds out his hand. "Xavier Thorpe. Nice to meet you."

Snuffles
Pairing: Xavier Thorpe x Hispanic!Reader
Summary: witch reader makes a potion so she can be able to shapeshift into an animal but she forgot to tell anyone she was making this potion.
Warning: italics are going to be the readers inner thoughts
A/N:Yes, this is basically the Marauders turning into animagi BUT different steps, Masterlist pinned on my blog if you want more
It was a Saturday afternoon and Y/N was in the school’s conservatory brewing her potion. She had a vial with a strand of her hair, 5 drops of blood, and a mandrake leaf that is soaked in her saliva from being in her mouth for a week. She went outside the conservatory to find the pot she left in the field to collect the rain water she needed, she adds the rain water into the vial and the mixture turns into a pale red color. The last step was to say an incantation and cast it on the vial.
“Animoza Espinoza” Y/N said and the potion turned into a dark wine red color, signaling is ready drink. Y/N drank the potion while she was outside in the field, she felt a little tingly, and started to get shorter. That’s when Y/N checked her reflection in glass of the conservatory. Y/N has turned into a (your hair color) cocker spaniel (or a cavalier king charles spaniel, your choice. I chose spaniels because their eyes are the first thing you notice). Y/N was loyal to her friends, happy-go-lucky, outgoing, and trustworthy, all traits of a dog. Her favorite classic Disney movie was Lady and the Tramp, so it made sense that she was turned into a spaniel.
“Oh my god, it worked!” Y/N said, but it came out as little barks. Great, I can’t transform back now because my body needs to get used in its animal form before transforming back. So how do I get to my dorm if I am a lap dog? I’ll just go to the art shed, I’m sure Xavier is still painting something. Y/N is now on her merry way to the art shed with her ears flapping in the wind. When she made it to the art shed, she heard Chase Atlantic playing, meaning he was still in there. Y/N scratched at the door first but apparently Xavier couldn’t hear it so then Y/N howled. If he doesn’t open this door for me, I swear I’m going to kill him! Y/N heard Xavier turn the volume down so she bowled again. That’s when Xavier opened the door and Y/N did a little bark.
“Hey little guy…are you lost?” Xavier asked. Y/N barked and began scratching at his leg. Xavier decided to pick her up. “My bad, little lady, you’re lady.” Xavier said, checking Y/N’s anatomy. “You Don’t have a collar on you, do you, lady? Did you escape or something?” Xavier asked, placing her onto his table and looking into Y/N’s eyes, “Your eyes are so familiar to me, you got human like eyes, little lady.” Xavier said. Y/N started sniffing around Xavier’s work place. When she reached the strong smell of acrylic paint, she sneezed 5 times and then rubbed her nose with her paw. God, I hate my allergies. “You a sneezy little lady, huh? I’m gonna name you Snuffles, that okay with you?”
“Yes!” Y/N barked and she licked his nose when he got close to her.
“Aww, Well aren’t you friendly? Come on, let’s go to my dorm, you can meet my friend Ajax, he probably waiting for me to play video games.” Xavier said. He took a hoodie that was on his chair and wrapped Y/N around it, carrying her. “Don’t want you getting cold now do we.” He entered the building and started walking to his dorm and when he opened the door, Ajax was on Xavier’s bed.
“Hey man, how did it go in the art shed? Painted a new portrait of Y/N?” Ajax asked and Y/N immediately lifted her head. Como dices que dijiste, Xavier painting a portrait of me, why? “Aww, you got a puppy! He’s so cute.” Ajax said as soon as he saw Y/N.
“The dog is a she and yeah, I found her outside my art shed. She’s cute, isn’t she?” Xavier said, placing Y/N on his bed and watching her smell it. Damn Xavier, you really need to wash this comforter, o sea no manches, mi pobre nariz está sufriendo.
“She is. Did you name her?” Ajax asked as he went to pet Y/N. Okay, fine, you’re allowed to pet me, but no belly scratches, that is a line we both don’t want you to cross.
“Yeah, she was sneezing in the art shed so I named her Snuffles. Isn’t that right, Snuffles.” Xavier said in the voice you use to speak to babies and cute animals. Y/N’s tail started wagging as she left Ajax to go to Xavier, earning pets from him.
“So what are you going to do about Snuffles? Like does she have her vaccinations, where is she going to do her business, what is she going to eat?” Ajax asked. Y/N was staring at him,. “Don’t look at me like that! Xavier, I swear Y/N looks at me the same way when I say something stupid.” Xavier then takes a closer look at Y/N.
“I guess Snuffles does look like Y/N a bit. The same color eyes, same color hair, but Y/N has cute little beauty marks on her face, her smile is so pretty too.” Xavier said. Y/N was so happy she was a dog because if not, she would be blushing. But her tail is wagging right now.
“When are you going to ask Y/N out? I’m positive she likes you too!” Ajax said. Y/N then nudged her head against Xavier’s hand. “See? Even snuffles wants you to ask her out.”
“I’ll ask her out when I see her, okay. I got a little lady to take care of, don’t I Snuffles?” Xavier asked hypothetically and again, Y/N wagged her tail (whenever I talk to my dog in a baby voice, she wags her tail, but I think that’s normal for all dogs) “You’re going to sleep with me tonight, yes you are. But you need food. I’ll just give you my food.”
“Too much human food means an upset stomach, especially in small dogs.” Ajax stated, Y/N looked at him. How do you know that?
“How do you know that, Ajax?” Xavier asked.
“My sister has a shih tzu okay, I visit her sometimes.” Ajax said. (I believe Ajax would have older sisters and younger sisters, which is why he seems very sensitive)
“Okay fine, I’ll just give her some of my food when I’m eating, can’t be that bad.” Xavier said.
As the day went on, Y/N received pets from Xavier, Ajax, and Enid. Enid even knitted her a cute doggie sweater. Xavier took Y/N for a walk so she can do her businesses, cleaned up after her, it was a very good day.
“Alright Snuffles, it’s time to go to bed, little lady.” Xavier said said as he got into bed and made space for Y/N to so she can crawl under the covers. Omg, he’s so warm. Y/N snuggles against him, the next morning when Xavier woke up, he saw Y/N next to him on bed BUT she had her clothes on from yesterday. “Y/N? What are you doing here?” Xavier said as he moved her.
“Oh, I forgot to tell you, yesterday I made a potion so I can shapeshift into an animal! But it reflects my personality so I ended up being a small dog which apparently you loved so much. I would have shifted back to human but it’s better to stay in animal form until you control it.” Y/N said.
“So you heard me say everything when you were Snuffles?” Xavier asked.
“Yep! So yes Xavier, I like you a lot too, and I would love to go out with you.” Y/N said.
“Okay, that’s great. I am so calling you Snuffles all the time now though.” Xavier said and Y/N covered her face. “Aww, don’t be embarrassed Snuffles.”
“Stop it!” Y/N warned Xavier. Xavier just laughed and hugged her.
“Come on, let’s go get something to eat.” Xavier said getting up from the bed.

Nevermore Witch
Pairing: Xavier Thorpe (Wednesday) x f!Witch Reader (Harry Potter’s universe)
Plot: After traumatic events at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Y/N Y/L/N joins Nevermore Academy to start a new chapter. She didn’t expect to become certain long haired boy’s enemy.
Word Count: <9K
Warnings: enemies to lovers, wizardry, use of magic, mentions of death, crying, mention of Harry Potter characters, cursing, traumatic experiences, grammar errors, let me know if I forgot about something.
A/N: Remember that Xavier is Xavier and Percy is
Percy. Character ≠ actor.
I’ll also be very thankful for letting me know what you think. Honestly, I’m sobbing especially because of the ending
Tumblr media
After all those incidents at Hogwarts, after Who Must Not Be Named came back to his powers and our castle collapsed, we, wizards had no place for ourselves. We were left alone, with no teachers to help us with magic and no relatives to support us. But it’s not important now. We (those who survived) had to find a new place to continue our education - if no magical by any means, then just a muggle one. I myself found a school for outcasts. United States, far away from my home, far away from everything and everyone I loved. I had no other option than just start attending Nevermore and start new, unknown chapter in my quite young life.
“I can’t believe it! I always thought that wizards don’t exist!” A blonde girl screamed while holding my wand. Phoenix feather core, apple wood, 11 ¾”. I remember the day of buying it as if it was yesterday. “I’m so excited! You have no idea how many things and places I want to show you and-“
“It really is nice to meet you too, Enid but can we please slow down a little bit? I just came here and I feel like I really don’t belong here so I would be thankful if you gave me about an hour to get used to this place, please.” I said sending her a shy smile and she only nodded, still smiling widely.
“What exactly happened? Why are you here? Aren’t there any magical schools?” She asked sitting on my bed while I was focusing on unpacking my suitcase.
“Well, not anymore.” I whispered. I was about to start crying. What happened in my life was very bad and I couldn’t agree with it. “You see, wizards can be good or bad. I think it’s quite clear. Like any other no-maj, we want a normal yet successful life. But unfortunately those dark wizards want to control the world. And that’s why my beloved school doesn’t exist anymore. It’s pretty heartbreaking for me now but I promise to tell you everything about it when I’ll feel a bit better.”
“Honey, you don’t have to push yourself into doing so. I understand and I get that everyone is going though many difficulties. I only want to assure you that I’m here and you can count on me even if we only just met. I feel like we can become very good friends if you only want to.” She added, hugging me tightly and after a while I hugged her back.
***
“So this is the last place and we call it a Quad.”
“Isn’t it a pentagon?” I asked and she only giggled. “So, what kind of outcasts are here? I know about werewolves already.”
“Psychics are the most predominant species at Nevermore. They have different abilities from visions to telekinesis. Then we have Vampires or Fangs, whatever you want to call them. Of course Werewolves like me. Shapeshifters, Gorgons, Sirens, Faceless students and a Witch of course. You’re the first of your kind which makes you very special and I believe you’ll have a huge group of admirers anytime soon.”
“I’ve never been new at school. Being the first one of a specific specie isn’t good either. I don’t even know how I feel about it.”
“Don’t worry, Y/N. You’ll soon find out that Nevermore is wonderful and you are gonna love it.”
“Hope so. So is there any head girl or or head boy or someone I just should avoid?”
“Well, let’s start from Fangs, shall we? You should definitely keep as far as possible from Simon and his group. He always is unbelievably dumb and horny.”
“For blood?”
“I said horny, not thirsty.”
“Clear enough.”
“Then Bianca. The so called Queen bee. She used to date our Academy Turtured Artist Xavier but they broke up in September. Reason unknown.”
Tortured artist?
“Why tortured?” I half-whispered.
“His works are usually sick. Bloody and mysterious. But continuing, there also is Wednesday Addams. She came here about a month ago and is spooky. I mean I like her and she’s my dorm mate but you may be a little shocked. Next, a werewolf Lita Greyback. She’s-“
“Greyback?!” I screamed with my eyes widening. Happily I didn’t catch too much of attention.
“You know her?” Enid asked a bit surprised.
“Her surname sounds familiar. You see, I knew a werewolf back there in Scotland. He was on a dark side and I believe he could have a child. I have no idea if he ever had someone but if he actually has a child and it’s Lita, then we’re all in a danger.”
“Okay, I’m starting to freak out. You must tell me what actually happened before you came here.”
“Hey, but it may be my mistake. It’s just a surname, isn’t it? I only-“
“We should definitely go and have some mellisa. You know, to calm you down a little bit. You’re literally shaking.”
“I don’t need melissa. I’m just trying to tell you that-“
“Another newbie?” A tall boy asked. Considering the fact that Enid became red all the way, I assumed she liked him. Or maybe even more than just like.
“Hi Ajax!” She screamed with pure excitement. “This is Y/N and yes, she’s new. And this is Ajax. A gorgon, that’s why he’s wearing a beanie.” The blonde explained and the both of us only smiled to each other.
“So you’re a siren or-“
“Even better! She’s a witch. Like a real witch. She can do magic and-“
“I know what a which means, Enid.” He added offering her a friendly smile and then his attention was back on me. “I hope you’re not going to jinx us, are you? I promise to never piss you off.” Ajax laughed.
“Dark magic isn’t something I work with. Of course there are many let’s call them friendly jinxes for example tickle jinx but I rarely use any of them honestly.” I said.
“Wow, impressive. You seem very interesting. What about hanging out sometime?” He asked and I felt a sudden change of Enid’s humour.
“Well, that’s very nice of you but I must say no. I still haven’t agreed with what happened in my previous school and I really don’t want to bond to anyone yet. But I think you may hang out with Enid, wouldn’t it be wonderful? She’s much more cheerful than I am.” I said and when he blushed I knew exactly what game he was trying to play. Asking me out to make the blonde jealous. That was so obvious.
“Uhm.. Yeah. Actually it would be even better than just wonderful. How about that, Enid?”
Nobody could imagine her happiness. She couldn’t even speak and only shook her head and then Ajax left as happy as her.
“You really set us for a date, did you? Oh Y/N, I can’t believe it! I’ve been trying to get his attention for AGES and he never noticed me and now-“
“I get it. And personally I think you two will be a perfect match. Can we come back to our little trip, please? I would love to come back to my dorm and take a nap.”
“Right. You asked about Xavier, didn’t you? Here he is. The one painting the mural right there. Come on, let’s say hello. He’s gonna be amazed.”
I was trying to recall memories from Hogwarts to find a person similar to Enid but it was useless. I swear I’ve never met anyone as energetic and joyful as her. She was a pure happiness, sunshine, she was smiling almost all the time and was so honest.
“Xavier!” She said proudly, catching his attention.
Once he looked at us I got a feeling that he must be a very nice person. But unfortunately I couldn’t be more mistaken.
“This is Y/N and she’s our new student. And guess what specie she is.” She added giggling while the long haired boy was looking me up and down.
“A nymph?” He said almost with no emotions.
“Silly you! She’s a witch!”
“I would say a hag but what you prefer.”
Hell no.
What the hell was that?
“Excuse me, what did you say?” I asked, yanking his brush from his paint covered wrist.
“I believe she said you’re a witch, not a deaf.”
How rude.
„Xavier! What has gotten into you!” Enid shrieked with her arms resting on her hips.
“Do you really trust her? I remember my granny’s stories about witches. They are bad and untrustworthy. One spell and you’re dead. I prefer to stand face to face with a skin walker than with her. I think she should spend time with her own wrong sort.”
“I think I can tell the wrong sort by myself but thanks for a wonderful speech.”
“Could you give my brush back, witch?” He added with a bored expression, watching me scoff.
“Aport if you need it.” I said then throwing it away only to leave the both of them after that.
Enid was screaming at him like a psycho and then she joined me during my way back to my dorm.
“I’m so very sorry. You see, he usually is a sweetheart and I don’t know what-“
“I believe he can excuse himself well enough. He doesn’t need you to do that for him.”
“I thought people get excited when they meet a real witch. That’s amazing and your ability to cast spells is just out of world.”
“You see, Enid. Some people dream about being magical. Some still live in the Middle Ages. Some are afraid and some just hate us with all their might. Some may even think that their relatives have been killed by wizards. You’ll never predict what the reaction is going to be.”
“That’s so unfair.”
“I need to take a nap. I knew it would be difficult to fit here but I never thought about this kind of difficulty. Have a good day, En and I’m sorry but I don’t want to see anyone today.”
***
I woke up the next day, almost late for my first class. Back then at Hogwarts, our house prefects used to scream and wake us up but here at Nevermore we had no prefects. I had so many new stuff to learn and what was the worst for me? No magical classes. Only muggle ones like Maths, English, Biology etc. The only subject which was kinda similar to my previous classes was botany with Mrs. Thornhill. I used to learn herbology so I was ready for whatever was about to happen there. I arrived at the greenhouse punctually at 8 am only to be welcomed by Xavier’s unpleasant expression. He truly looked like he hated me with all his might. Unfortunately for the both of us only one seat beside him was free and we knew perfectly well, it’s not going to end up happily.
“Hey, uh..-“
“Wednesday Addams.”
“Right. Could we switch places, please? He doesn’t seem to like me and I really don’t want to fight with him.” I said looking at the black haired girl with a deadly pale skin and zero emotion on her face.
“Just ignore him. He’s going to get bored and won’t hurt you. You’re the witch here. You always can jinx him.” She responded and believe me, I’ve never felt so disappointed in my life.
“Yeah, right. Thanks for helping.” I whispered and took the free place after that. I tried very hard to avoid Xavier even though I felt his deadly glare all the time.
“And what exactly is that?” He asked pointing at my scroll of parchment and a quill.
“I have to make notes, right?”
“Can’t you just use a notebook and a pen instead of these funny objects? You’re no longer in your damn magic school.”
“You have a problem, not me so I would be damn thankful if you shut your mouth.”
The whole class laughed. Thank you all.
“You’re the newbie and yet you’re in the centre of students’ attention. What if you lost your lovely magic stick?” He laughed pulling my wand out of my uniform pocket.
“Give it back.” I hissed when he stood up spinning the wand between his fingers.
“Aport if you need it.” He added wanting to throw it.
“Xavier, give it back to Y/N.” Mrs. Thornhill said harshly, entering the classroom. “Are you mad? It’s a very powerful magical object. You have no idea what kind of consequences you’d pay for throwing it. Our whole school might even explode if you’ve done it. I don’t want the two of you to cause such of a problem. Hand it back to Y/N and may you please stop arguing for god knows what?”
“Sorry, professor. It’s not going to happen anymore.” He said and gave me my wand back. Then he sat next to me and leaned closer before whispering. “Don’t be too happy too soon.”
“Oh fuck you, Thorpe.”
“Miss Y/L/N, I will not accept speaking this way.”
“Sorry.”
“I hope so. So maybe if you’re here with us today, what about saying something about your previous school and subjects?”
Merlin’s pants, why?
I took a deep breath before standing up and feeling many pairs of eyes on me.
“I used to attend Hogwarts. A truly magical place which felt like home from the very first day. Every magical person belongs to this school after being born and there’s no way to change it. Or at least if you don’t have enough Galleons, our wizarding currency. You have no idea how amazing if feels to get an acceptance letter. I remember if as if it was yesterday. I still keep it. If you want to do shopping for the school year or just any magical ones you have to go to a certain place full of all kinds of shops from clothes to wands. Then, on the 1st of September you have a train from London to Merlin knows where. Probably some part of Scotland but our location is unknown even to us. Any electronic stuff like your smartphones would not work there due to the whole lot of energy going on there. That’s why I don’t own a phone. I use my owl, Snow, to send letters so don’t be afraid if one day my winged friend will visit you.” I laughed and all of my classmates did the same. Well, maybe not all. Xavier looked unbothered. “There were better and worse days. I had many enemies but also the best of best friends I could wish for. We’ve gone through the worst together and… Well, let’s just not talk about that. However, I had many exciting classes. One of them was pretty similar to botany. I’m talking about herbology. You have no idea how many wonderful plants surround us. Have you ever heard of a mandrake? A baby like plant whose screams may even kill if you don’t use earplugs while replanting it. Its juice is used to cure petrified people.
That’s scary.” Enid said almost pale.
“We also used to learn potions. That was my favourite subject. Brewing luck, love, death or pollyjuice potion is amazing even though it’s very difficult.”
“Do you have any spare death potion?”
“I-“
“Joking. I’ll find out myself.”
“Don’t worry about Wednesday, honey. She’s specific.” The teacher giggled.
“Well, okay. Continuing, we were also studying care of magical creatures, charms, history of magic, flying, defence against the dark arts, transfiguration and we could choose any extra classes from the list but there’s too much of them to talk about each one.”
“Wait, you can actually fly?”
“Yes, I even have a broom.”
“Like all those hags from scary stories. Do you eat children as well or maybe you’re a vegetarian?”
“I don’t eat people, you fool. But I may eat you if you won’t stop offending me.”
“You-“
“Stop this nonsense. Y/N, why are you here instead of your previous school?”
“It’s not existing anymore. A dark wizard ruled our world. That’s why I had to find another place for myself.”
“I hope you’ll accommodate here quickly and that Xavier will help you with it instead of arguing. It’s is very nice to have you here, Y/N. Shall we begin our today’s class? I believe you’re all very excited about the test which I was talking about previously.”
The look of utter disappointment was noticeable on each face. Even mine. I had no idea about a test coming. Starting a new school with a negative grade, how wonderful?
“Don’t worry, Y/N. I know you weren’t able to prepare for it so just read through questions and maybe you’ll know the answer, who knows? I won’t grade it if it’s negative, I promise.”
“Thank you, Mrs. Thornhill. I really appreciate it and I promise to catch up with your subject asap.”
Merlin only knew, that I was to get the best grade. Happily every question was about plants which I was studying at Hogwarts. Maybe my time at Nevermore wasn’t going to be fail at all?
Well, not exactly. Maths was my personal hell. I had no idea what was going on and nothing made sense. Xavier was making fun of me all the time especially when I made a mistake. And that happened plenty of times. But happily I beaten him in other subjects and that got on his nerves.
He then started trying to make my life a real hell.
The day of the Poe Cup came pretty quickly and I was absolutely terrified yet excited. I had my wand so we were to win. I knew it. That’s why other teams were kind of worried. Bianca was plotting against us but I knew that whatever she wanted to do, wouldn’t work. And I was right. Just before the official beginning, my team and I took a sip of Felix Felicis, luck potion. No rules meant no rules so we gladly used this opportunity and thanks to that, we came as second ones to the island and there I sprinted as fast as I could to the Crackstone’s crypt.
But where the hell our flag was?
“Looking for something, Y/L/N?” Xavier’s drawling voice echoed from behind. I turned around immediately to be met with his smiley yet ridiculous expression.
“Turned into what you really are, didn’t you Thorpe? I always knew you’re a clown.” I said sarcastically and he scoffed.
“I may be or not be a clown but I for sure will be the one holding the cup.” Xav laughed.
“Where’s my teams’ flag?”
“You said you can fly?”
I looked up and there it was. Hanging on a branch.
“How could you do that? What I’m going to do now?” I asked playing hurt. At this moment he was no longer happy at all. He knew too well that I had something on my mind. I reached for my wand which had a special place in the inner corner of my costume and then I pointed at the flag, whispering quiet “accio flag”. It sprang to my hand with a light speed which took Thorpe by surprise and just when he was almost ready to come back to his boat, I decided to slow him down a little bit. That’s why I pointed my wand at him and used a reduction spell so in a matter of seconds he became tiny.
“What the hell Y/L/N! Change me back, it’s not fair!”
“What are you squeaking about? I almost can’t hear you, doll.” I laughed lifting him by his costume collar. He was kinda cute with his arms crossed against his chest, legs dangling and furious expression. “That’s exactly what you get for offending me.”
“Change me back or-“
“The only thing you could do now would be biting the tip of my finger which I believe won’t happen because I would have to let go of you and that might cause and unpleasant injury. Let me take you to your boat so you won’t get lost in here, what about that?”
“You’re unbelievable.”
“Nothing new, Xav.”
And I did what I said. His friends were shocked seeing him in that state and I even heard some mocks towards him which made me burst out laughing but we won after all.
He was absolutely furious and I swear that I’ve never seen anyone this mad in my life.
Then the outreach day came and to my unhappiness the both of us were assigned at the Weathervane. He only rolled his eyes on me so I kept talking with this cute barista, Tyler.
“Would you mind to stop your silly conversations and help me maybe? I want to remind you that we were assigned here to work not gossip or even flirt.” Xav said.
“Fine. So Tay, what’s my job considering the fact that this poor artist is wiping dirty tables?”
Xavier’s scoff almost made me laugh. I truly loved getting on his nerves. He deserved it.
Tyler quickly showed me how to use this weird machine which was professionally called a coffee express and I only hoped to remember everything. My face expression was for sure worried as hell.
“I think it’s not the best idea to let her work with it. You see, she used to live under the rock for the past few years and she doesn’t even have a smartphone which means she may not get well with this yet shitty express.”
Well, he was kind of right at that point.
“I propose to let her wipe the tables and collect orders and I’ll be working with electronics. Are you into it, Y/L/N?”
“Yes.”
“Do whatever you want. Just please don’t destroy anything and try not to kill each other since I feel the unpleasant pressure between you two.”
“You should talk to her. She’s a hag here. But be careful with her or she’ll change you into a doll.”
I could say that this day was really good and even cooperating with this brat was successful. He tried to make me a fool many times yet he never succeeded. We spent many hours in the cafeteria but unfortunately right before closing Xavier spilled his hot coffee on me and that was indescribably painful.
“Xavier!” I shrieked wiping as much of a black liquid out of myself as possible. With my bare hands which resulted in burning them too.
And yet he was only standing in front of me with and unbothered face expression. How could someone be this emotionless?
“Don’t shriek. Just use your wand.”
“Are you serious? Do you really think that there is an uncountable amount of spells? I’m not a healer for Merlin’s sake, I didn’t study healing spells!”
“What kind of a witch you are then? I thought that with your help, all orders will be floating around the local and yet you had to walk around to give them to the customers. It’s-“
“You don’t understand anything.”
“So maybe enlighten me?”
“Honestly Xavier, I really don’t have any interest in explaining anything to you. Tell Tyler that I left.”
But what happened some time later, was absolutely unforgivable. Imagine that Kent invited me to the RaveN Dance and for some reason Xavier wasn’t too happy about that. He himself came with Bianca, his ex which was just as much prejudiced against me as he was. I had a truly the best time ever since the muggle music was fantastic. Even too fantastic because after about three hours due to a huge headache I needed to left the party. I was met with Bianca furiously looking at me with her shoulders crossed over her chest.
“Kitten got on your tongue?” She said burning holes in my head.
“What’s your problem? I just need to rest. Besides I have no reason talking to you, do I?”
Her scoff was so venomous that I thought I’m no longer talking with a siren. More like with a snake. She would for sure join Slytherin if it only still existed.
“Xavier’s talking about you all the time. He seems to be fucking mad at you and hate you, yet he can’t stop eyeing you.”
“There is a true hatred between us and I believe whatever he says is not too nice. There’s nothing you should be afraid of. If you still want him take him. I don’t care about him neither about you.”
With that I turned around and wanted to leave, but
“He asked me to use my amulet to make him forget about you.”
What the hell?
I looked at her again shocked.
“And did you do that?”
“Are you mental? My power was the main reason of our break up. He never trusted me and thought I was manipulating him. Yet he wants me to use it so he can no longer have feelings towards you.”
“Woah, slow down a little bit, okay? Firstly there’s no point in being mad and secondly he doesn’t have any feelings towards me, you get it? He hates me and I hate him and the only thing he may want to forget is all that hatred. I saw his expression while looking at me and believe, he is not interested and-“
“You’re so dumb girl. Go and have a rest now. Maybe you’ll understand everything better after few hours of sleeping because your brain clearly isn’t working. Have a good night.”
That was weird, saying delicately. What kind of feelings might he had towards me? Come on, he would destroy me if he could. I remember when he put a dog’s shit into my bag. Everything was smelly as fuck but happily I knew a cleaning spell which helped me with it. Do you think this kind of action means liking me?
“Leave me alone, Thorpe.” I heard from behind. It’s was Xavier and Bianca of course. He probably wanted to apologise to her yet she didn’t want to talk with him and came back to the Dance. Xavier’s and mine eyes met but when he wanted to say something, I left. And that was a huge mistake.
On the very next day, loud banging to my dorm room woke me up. I had got up and then opened the door. It was sheriff and probably his coworker.
“What’s going on?”
“Miss Y/L/N, you have to go with us.”
“I’m sorry Y/N.” Wednesday spoke with her usual emotionless expression. “…but I know it was you who attacked Eugene yesterday night.”
I had no time to discuss yet to fight against them. I was taken to the sheriff’s office and I spent several (or more) long days in prison with chains hanging from my wrists. In officers’ eyes, I was a monster which was haunting the woods in the area. A real hag which was looking for a revenge for her death relatives which were burnt alive for doing magic. It made no sense however they had a point. Eugene was attacked on the RaveN Dance night at the time when I left to take a rest. Bianca and Xavier saw me and I was sure it was Thorpe who framed me. At last he was the one who welcomed me with his unhealthy fright of witch monsters from his grandmother’s stories. Nobody could defend me at that moment and possibly prove that I came back to my dorm that night. I had no roommate. Besides I was horrifically worried about Eugene yet I had no clue how to contact with anyone. Sheriff had confiscated my wand before I hid it. To say more I had no visitors since I was considered dangerous and everyone was afraid of me. Wednesday was sure of me being the monster. Enid as her good friend for sure believed her. Xavier probably was happy as ever that he doesn’t have to look at me anymore and that he was right judging my witchy roots. After spending a few days there I broke down completely. I was sitting there in the corner, not wanting to speak or eat. My whole attention was focused on this one little window in the office and at my lovely owl Snow which was sitting behind windows’ glass, observing me. I don’t know how much time passed. It might have been two or three weeks but honestly I don’t know because I lost the track of time.
“Hey, Y/N!” Somebody hissed. My eyes widened seeing Lita Greyback herself, kneeling behind bars. She was the last person I could have expected to see.
“What are you doing here?”
“I came here to help you. You see, I know it’s not you who attacked Eugene.” She said. “We may not have met officially but I overheard Enid’s conversation about you and she said that you know my father.”
Hearing it, I came closer to her, wanting to know more. I sat right in front of her while she reached her hand to me.
“I’m Lita Greyback, nice to meet you officially.”
“Y/N Y/L/N. Nice to meet you too.” I said shaking her hand.
“Look, sheriff doesn’t know that I’m here. I gave his coworker certain something to put him to sleep and I sneaked in. But I have a proof that you’re innocent. You see, since I’ve overheard Enid speaking about you, I kept observing you and saw you coming back to your dorm. I even thought about talking to you that night but then this whole incident happened and I was just shocked to say the least.”
“What’s your proof?”
“It’s my conversation with Sienna about you. I wrote her that I was hesitant about knocking your door and she wrote about the attack. She then sent me a voice message that Xavier thinks it’s your fault and I wrote that it’s impossible because you’re in your dorm. And if it’s not enough which I believe won’t be in this case, I also have a-“
“So you say she’s innocent?” Sheriff Galpin spoke and Lita immediately stood up.
“Yes, sheriff. I’m sure of that.”
“And your only evidence is a stupid conversation?”
“You may call it stupid but it actually is important. You see, Y/N and I aren’t friends. I mean not yet so I have no reason to help her. To say more I heard that Eugene’s scratches were nothing like injuries which could be made by a spell. Whatever attacked him it wasn’t Y/N. Maybe a bear or another monster?”
“What can you say about it, miss Y/L/N?”
“I’m innocent as I said plenty of times. You know, I wish Dumbledore- I mean a principal of Hogwarts could be here with his pensive. I could show you my memories and that would be the best proof yet it can’t happen without him.”
“And where is he?”
“Dead.”
“Or maybe it was a werewolf? Maybe that’s why you want to free her? You feel guilty so you came here and-“
“No, sheriff. It’s not me neither her. Please, show mercy. She spent almost 3 weeks here being innocent.”
“Why did you show up now, not those 3 weeks ago?”
“I knew I should have done it sooner but I was said by others that it’s not my business and-“
“Could you do something for me, Lita?” I asked and she only nodded. “You have to go to my dorm room and find a truth potion. It’s called a veritaserum and I keep it in a trunk under my bed. You’ll find it quickly because it’s the only transparent potion and it looks like water.”
“You think I’ll believe in it?” Sheriff laughed sarcastically.
“If you think I want to trick you, you’ll be the first one using it and you’ll see yourself that this potion can make you reveal the darkest secret of yours. It’s very powerful and if it won’t prove my innocence, nothing will.”
“Fine. Let me give you a ride to your school of freaks and we’ll both go to the damned room to find it. I’ll call the backup to have more witnesses.” He said to Lita and then turned to me. “Is that fine enough or maybe miss witchy wants something more?”
“I want to be free again. That’s it. And could you free me from those chains, please? They’re so heavy.”
“You really expect too much, lady.”
Happily it didn’t take too much time until they were back. The bottle of veritaserum was halfway empty so I had to be very careful with it because it was the only way to prove them wrong. As I said I wanted to use it on sheriff first however he didn’t agree and instead one of his workers took a sip of tea with the potion. After that he was brutally honest and I was sure that he’s to lose his job. Yet, everyone believed that the potion works and to their dismay they had to free me after I told them everything what happened on that certain night.
„It’s true then. Fenrir Greyback is your father?” I said during the way back to Nevermore.
“Yes, yet I’ve never met him. My mum is a normie or a muggle, whatever you call them. They met by an accident and had a short affair. Short because when she discovered what he was, she left UK and moved to the USA. She was really afraid of and unfortunately she found out that she was pregnant. With me obviously. So I’m a half-werewolf. Kind of cool yet it’s really painful to change during every full moon.”
“He’s a bad person, your father. He’s on the dark side fighting against the good one. He also killed many people.”
“I’m so ashamed of having such a father.”
“You shouldn’t be. You’re not him.”
“Do you think he would want to meet me if he knew he has a child?”
“I don’t know, honestly. I didn’t have an opportunity to meet him officially. Happily to me. But I think it’s better for you that he doesn’t know about your existence. Don’t get me wrong but Who Must Not Be Named would kill you and your mother in a matter of seconds. That’s what he did to most of people I knew.”
“I can see you suffering. You lost someone you loved, didn’t you?”
I only nodded not being able to talk about that. Once at Nevermore, we said our goodbyes and I came back to my dorm room. The next day was supposed to be quite chaotic due to the family weekend but I didn’t expect anyone. That’s very complicated and I thought I will never have to talk about that with anyone however it happened very soon. You see…
Saturday, the first day of family weekend. Everyone was over the moon and no one noticed my coming back. Happily for me actually. I felt betrayed for some reason so I didn’t want to talk to anyone anyway. I decided to spend my day in the school library which was totally empty this day. I had my fave spot there from which I could observe what was going on on the quad and in the academy park the same time. I sat there cross legged with my spell book which I was studying in the free time. Once I tried to flip to the next page, several pictures fell from it and made a small mess on the floor. I loved keeping photos in every book I owned. But once I saw all those smiling people waving to me from the pictures my eyes started to water. I felt my heart breaking once again. I don’t know when I bursted out crying. What happened was still unbelievable and I couldn’t agree with it. I don’t know how much time I spent there crying my eyes out, yet somebody joined me.
“You’re sad because nobody came to see you?” Xavier spoke leaning against the book shelf. He wasn’t sarcastic like always. I saw a guilt in his expression. “Just joking. My father left me alone too. Doesn’t have time for his crazy son again. But there’s no need to cry, believe me.” He said eyeing me. I swear that I saw a glimpse of tears in his eyes too. “I wanted to apologise for framing you. I was just mad and-“
“I don’t care about that anymore.” I said coldly. Once he noticed many photographs on my lap, he sat beside me, reaching for them. He was visibly confused seeing them moving like a video.
“Wow, that’s crazy.” He whispered. “Who are all these people? I can see you on this one but the rest?”
“My friends.” I replied not bothering to look at him.
“Where are they?” He kept asking.
„I don’t know.”
“I get it. It’s pretty difficult to keep in touch if you don’t have phones.”
“That’s not it, Xavier!”
I swear I never used to raise my voice at anyone and I was as shocked as he was. Yet I couldn’t stand being silent and left alone with my thoughts.
“They may be dead, you get it? Back then, when the Dark Lord tried to come back to ruling the wizarding world, my friends and I used to have a lovely life full of silly adventures. We had no idea about Vold- Dark Lord’s raising strength and power and then suddenly the wizarding war happened. He had one serious enemy. The boy who lived even though a death spell hit him. The Dark Lord lost his powers and tried everything to kill him what happened exactly a year ago during the war. I lost everyone I loved. The lovely golden trio is dead. Additionally my lover boy was kidnapped because he failed his mission and I don’t know if he’s still alive or not. And I may never know. The Dark Lord killed every muggleborn due to their filthy blood, he also started killing muggles and that’s why I had to run away and clean my parents’ memory. They have no idea that they have a daughter. They live somewhere in Africa or Merlin knows where and I’m here now.” I sobbed.
“That’s sick…” Xav whispered visibly flabbergasted.
“Sick? That’s what you think?”
“I mean, I’m very sorry. I can’t even imagine how it could be to lose everyone. But aren’t you afraid about this Dark freak finding you here?”
“I am.”
“Can I help you somehow?”
“You? You’re no use. I don’t trust you and I never will. You see, I used to have many enemies back there yet anyone had ever hurt me the way you did. I truly wish I could go back to the UK and fight against the dark wizards even though I know I’d collapse dead before I had a chance to reach for my wand. Yet I prefer to be dead than looking at you. And everything because you believe in those silly stories of your grandmother.”
Wow, that was harsh.
“I know I made a huge mistake and I’d do anything to repair it-“
“Just leave me alone.”
“I want to start once again. Please, at least try to give me a second chance. I’ll prove you that I’m worth it.”
“I don’t know about that, Thorpe. I-“
“Please.”
If you’ve never seen Xavier’s pleading eyes, believe me, it was almost impossible to say no to them. I was sitting there, in front of him with watery eyes and tears ready to spill and I wasn’t able to say a word. I couldn’t believe I actually showed him how weak I was. He was the last person who should’ve seen it.
“One last chance and don’t you dare ever asking me for anything.” I said with a breaking voice and after that I came back to looking at the photographs. I started crying once again. The pain which I was going through was unbearable.
The next days were grey and almost lifeless. I got many apologies from Enid and even Wednesday said she was sorry for accusing me. She told me about Crackstone and some shit about it but I wasn’t really paying attention. My mind was wholly focused on my experiment which was going successfully and I expected positive results soon. Of course I’m talking about creating a time turner. I said I loved potions, didn’t I? I was bloody interested in alchemy and that’s why I knew what substances I’m supposed to use to make it. It took a lot of time however I made it. And after trying I found out it worked so I was able to repair everything and destroy the Dark Lord.
“So what exactly are you planning to do now?” Xavier asked looking at the golden object in my hand.
“It happened about 11 months ago so I have to turn it… 8000 times. Quite a lot.”
“Why so many?”
“One turn for one hour. I don’t plan to do it actually. I know a dark spell which makes a magical object do exactly what I want. Confundus. Very advanced magic it is but I know exactly how to use it.”
“And what’s going to happen after that?”
“I’ll be back at Hogwarts. Me from the past and me from the present. I’ll have to be very careful. You know, I don’t want my past myself to see me. I would freak out. I think I have to go and talk with the principal and prepare a plan. He’s the only one being able to help.”
“And what if it works and the dark freak will be destroyed?”
“I don’t know. I probably will be in the UK with the ones I love. And you’ll never meet me.”
His eyes widened immediately.
“That’s it, Xavier. Are you aware of the fact that every little change in the past makes a huge difference in the present?” I asked a bit worried. “It’s very complicated actually. Playing with time isn’t funny. It’s a serious thing and considering a fact of Dark Lord’s possible death-“
“What if you’ll die during the war?” He hesitated fidgeting with his fingers.
“Well, I don’t know if the war’s going to take place if I tell Dumbledore about Voldy coming back to his powers. There’s nobody more powerful than Hogwarts principal.”
“But potentially if something happens to you? Doesn’t matter during the war or not.”
“I have to take the risk. It’s the only way to save my world and those who I love.”
“And if everything goes the way you want to where could you possibly be now? You know, so I could find you.”
“There’s no need to worry. You won’t remember me.”
The purest shock appeared on his face. I’ve never seen him this speechless.
“You want to tell me that for the whole time I was supporting you and you try to run away from us? From Nevermore? And I won’t even remember you?” He said looking straight into my eyes.
“We both know this school is not a place for me. Why do you care actually? As I said you won’t remember me. Once I disappear everything will change. You’ll forget about me immediately and-“
“I thought you wanted to come back after saving everything.”
“It doesn’t make sense. I’m trying to repair my world so I could stay there forever. Why would I come back here if it’s not my place to be?”
“That’s your revenge, isn’t it?”
“What the fuck are you talking about now?”
“Nothing. You know what, keep doing what you do. I don’t care about that anymore. Have a great time with your ‘Hog-twats’.”
“How dare you-“
“Just leave.”
And I did. Just as he wished.
• Xavier •
She said I would forget her immediately yet I didn’t. And I had no idea why. Did her plan work out? Or maybe she failed? My heart broke just at the thought. The truth is I fell for her not so long ago and my silly actions weren’t supposed to hurt her. I just wanted her attention, that’s all. And she chose being a hero only to have her lover boy back.
I had no time to think about that at all because there were some complications with Wednesday and Crackstone. Y/N was probably starting her new life in the UK and I was to fight with a dead man. Everything happened very quickly. Bianca, Yoko and I escorted students from the academy while Addams was in the quad. I could not let her face him all alone so I came back to her and-
“Petrificus totalus!” Y/N shrieked pointing her wand at this dead bastard and throwing a silver sword to Wednesday. Crackstone went totally stiff and then Wednesday stabbed him with it. He started turning into the dust and then disappeared. I was pale as fuck not knowing what the hell was going on. Why Y/N was there? Did she fail? Without thinking I pulled her behind a wooden pillar to talk, however suddenly Thornhill spoke. She pointed a gun at Addams and just when I wanted to go and save her, Y/N stopped me.
“Stay quiet. Everything is under control.” She whispered. Wednesday looked scared. Probably for the first time since she arrived at Nevermore.
“Expelliarmus.”
Thornhill’s gun flew away leaving her shocked.
“Who we have here. Miss Y/L/N, I see you’re getting better.”
“There’s no need to worry about me.” Y/N said still pointing her wand at the red haired woman. “Incarcerous”.
The tip of Y/N’s wand sparked and then Thornhill was tightly bonded by many thick ropes. Impressive.
“Soon someone will come to collect you, professor.” Y/L/N said before leaving. I ran after her but she was nowhere to be seen. She probably came back to Hogwarts and I felt bad again.
• Y/N •
The last few days were crazy to say the least. Everything was going perfectly, then I failed and then I succeeded again. Due to the last events at Nevermore, students were sent home earlier. I believe everyone was tired after what actually happened. You don’t fight with a dead man everyday, do you? Anyway, I appeared at academy too, to collect my belongings before leaving Jericho for the next few months. To my happiness I was welcomed by Enid’s shrieks and a tight hug. She was covered in bruises and scratches yet she still looked ravishing.
“It was amazing! Wednesday told me about your help with this dead freak and you became a school hero. Would you mind if I wrote about you on my blog?” She laughed with pure excitement.
“You have a free hand, Enid. I’m glad you’re okay. What about Ajax?”
“I think we’ve never been this close with each other. You have no idea how caring he is, especially after my first ever wolfing out.”
“I’m glad. What are your plans for the break?” I asked biting my lower lip.
“Oh, I’m coming back home to San Francisco. You have to visit me. I don’t think I’ll be able to bear few months without contacting you.” She said.
“Sure. Thank you, En. Sorry but I have to go to my dorm. I’m still not packed.” I added with a smile.
“I believe someone wants to see you too.”
With that she looked up at the balcony and Xavier leaning against the railing. He sent me a shy smile and a delicate wave. I knew I had to face the truth. I had taken a deep breath before heading up to him.
“So you’re back.” He said calmly with a slight smile.
“Yeah.” I whispered not daring to look at him.
“Why?”
“You don’t want me here?”
“Of course I want you here. But I just don’t understand. You said that I’ll forget about your existence. Yet you disappeared and I didn’t forget.”
“Let’s go talk to my dorm, shall we? I don’t feel comfortable getting all those curious looks from other students.”
“As you wish.”
We headed to my room without exchanging any word. I was unsuccessfully trying to collect my thought but for some reason I wasn’t able to. The chaos which happened lately was just unbelievable.
“So” I began after sitting on my bed. The long haired boy followed and once we were sat facing each other I knew I had to explain everything. “Let’s say that I failed.”
“You fucked it up even more?”
“Not exactly. You see, right after arriving at the castle, I decided to spend some time with my friends. Merlin, I love them so much and-” I sighed. “I knew I had to go to the principal and tell him about everything that was about to happen. However before I got a chance to do so, my lovely transfiguration teacher stopped me. Unfortunately or maybe fortunately she noticed the past version of myself behind the corner and knew exactly what I’ve done. She invited me to her office and forbade to say a word about the future. I could only tell her that the Dark Lord is back and rules the world but… She told me that I mustn’t change anything. You get it? She was aware of her possible death yet she didn’t let me do what I had to do. She said that the consequences might be too serious and I should give up if I don’t want to wreck the present even more. I also heard that what I wanted to do was selfish and I only thought about myself because I wanted to give myself another chance to be happy without thinking about how others’ life would be after that. And she was right. I was doing it go get them all back because I couldn’t stand my life without them but I haven’t been caring about their possible future. It’s our destiny which decided whether we should be alive or not. I only got a chance to speak to them one last time before coming back here and-“
You know that the tears of sadness are different than those of happiness? I almost coughed feeling the unbelievably salty taste on my lips.
“Shh. Don’t cry, Y/N. You can’t change anything with your cries.” Xav spoke, wiping my tears with his thumb. “I know it’s difficult and I’m very sorry that you have to go through this but you’re very strong and I believe you’ll feel better soon. Try to think positively. It was meant to be like that for some reason. What if you saved them and then they died in even worse way? Would you want them to suffer?”
“I don’t.”
“And that’s it. You have to believe that wherever they are they’re probably happy and they wouldn’t want to see you crying over something that you can’t fight with. Grief is awful, I know it but I promise that I will be here for you all the time if you need anything.” He added grabbing my hand gently.
“Thank you, Xavier. And I’m sorry that I wanted to leave you even though you gave me so much support. I truly was thinking only about mys-“
“It doesn’t matter. I was thinking only about myself too. I knew how much you loved them yet I got mad because I didn’t want to let you go. I like you. Quite a lot actually. I know you’re in pain now but I’d love to try and give you as much happiness as possible. Once again I’m very sorry for everything that happened at the beginning. I should’ve known you before judging.”
“It’s fine, really. I wasn’t too friendly myself.”
“I’ve never noticed.” He joked containing a laugh and I smiled delicately. “I have something for you.”
A bottle green box came to my view. It had a big ribbon on it and was not too heavy. I opened the lid slowly, expecting something to jump out of it however what I saw was a phone.
He gave me a phone.
“Xav, but I-“
“I’ll show you everything. Living among so called muggles have its own rules. One of them is having a cellphone so you can keep in touch with people. Don’t get me wrong but Snow is way too slow so she may feel free from now on. She deserves it, doesn’t she?”
“Thank you. Very much. It’s so new to me and.. I think it will take me half of my life to catch up with all those technologies surrounding me.”
“You have me, remember? Besides, I still don’t understand what actually happened during yesterday’s night. How did you know how to destroy Crackstone?”
“I told the transfiguration teacher about him. She couldn’t help me with fighting for Hogwarts so she told me all about him. That’s it.”
“You’re a hero.” He laughed, playing with my fingers. Wait, I haven’t even noticed him still holding my hand. “And where do you plan to spend the break?”
“No idea.“
“What about staying at my place? My father rarely is at home so he wouldn’t mind. And I could keep my eye on you in case you needed help.”
He was so soft and adorable at that moment. I couldn’t believe it was the same boy who used to tease me and put a dog’s shit in my bag. It may sound funny but I swear I wanted to murder him for doing it.
“That would be lovely if it’s not a problem.”
“Silly you, of course it’s not.” He laughed then eyeing my lips. “I know it’s probably too soon but can I… you know.”
Oh boy, what now? He was attractive but did I want it?
“Okay.” I said quietly and then he pecked my lips delicately. It felt like a sweep of butterfly’s wings against my skin. So quick and soft yet so satisfying.
“Let me help you packing your things and then I’ll buy us train tickets.” He said kissing my knuckles and I laughed at him which confused him a bit. Pulling wand out of my jacket‘s pocket, I pointed its tip at my belongings and said “pack”. Xavier’s expression was worth every Galleon. He was so focused on all floating objects that I felt better immediately.
“Intriguing. So if it comes to the tickets-“
“We don’t need them. Hold my hand and and close your eyes.”
I forgot to inform that the teleportation may be rough for those who had never experienced it before. His head was spinning for the rest of the day so our smartphone classes ended up with his head resting on my chest during his unexpected slumber. Happily his sofa was pretty comfortable and I fell asleep as well. There we were, both calmly snoring in each other’s embrace.
And in my dream, my lovely friends from Hogwarts were waving at me happily, saying their goodbyes. I knew, they were in the better place and didn’t want me to suffer anymore.

The room smelt like incense whenever Xavier came over, your crystals were laid on a special table you brought, the incense burning. Before meeting you, Xavier didn’t know much about spiritual guidance, meditation, any of it, and he still really didn’t.
He’d just quietly watch you intently, trying to figure out on his own what you were doing. Couple months into dating, he noticed how you started leaving crystals in his room, sometimes putting small ones in his pockets. There were a few crystals that he knew and what they meant, the first was a rose quartz.
It had been his favorite because you gave it to him explaining how it meant unconditional love. He kept with him constantly, making sure it would never leave his body, whether wearing it as a necklace, or just leaving it in his pocket.
With all your powers, it puts a mental drain on you, leaving you tired and stressed by the end of week, which was when you started meditating.
Your grandmother taught you how to meditate when you first started showing your powers, she explained that not only it calmed you down, slowed down your heart beat, practiced breathing exercises but it also heightened your spiritual awareness.
You loved mediating, you started and ended your week with it, and always invited Xavier to join you who always declined.
As the semester started getting tough, midterms coming up, everyone at Nevermore was on their last string, stressed to the max.
Xavier was one of them, he had an exam on a project on exams, his work piling up on him, barely seeing him the past couple weeks. It hadn’t been on purpose it was just Xavier never had a time to take a breath or relax.
Taking the time when he was out studying with Ajax, you snuck into his room, moving all your mediation stuff into his, setting it up into his room. Your little rug was on his floor, setting up candles and crystals around the room, the lights off, the blinds closed.
Coming up to his room, Xavier smelt that familiar incense that was always in your room, smiling to himself before opening up the door. Seeing you on the floor of his room, smiling at him.
“C’mon.” You gestured, Xavier just nodded, pulling off his jacket, setting his stuff down before joining you on the floor. Mimicking your legs, crossing them over, resting his hands on his knees.
“Let’s meditate together.” You smiled, Xavier just nodded, following your instructions. Leading him through a short breathing exercise, you kept your hands on your knees, your eyes closed, breathing in and out.
Peaking your eyes open, you already saw Xavier looking at you, smiling softly, before closing your eyes again.
As you finished explaining what to do, both of you were quiet. You tried as best as you could to explain, muttering soft words of encouragement to him, reminding him.
The room was quiet when you heard it, it was a little hiccup, followed by a sniffle. Peaking your eyes open again, you saw Xavier starting to cry.
Not being able to hold in anymore, Xavier let out a cry, gasping for air. Coming up to him, you wrapped your arms around his neck, letting his head rest on your shoulder.
“Shh.” You cooed, “It’s okay.”
Holding him as his sobs turned into sniffles, you pulled him away from you, cradling his face.
Smiling softly, you wiped away his tears, kissing the tip of his nose. “Do you want to talk about it?”
Xavier was quiet for a moment, trying to figure out the right words, “I-just..”
“Hey it’s okay, take a deep breath.” You placed your hand over his heart, “Take your time baby.”
“I never felt like that before, and it was overwhelming.” He confessed softly, his eyes closed not wanting to see the look of disappointment or anger on your face.
“Can you explain what the feeling was?” You were delicate with him knowing how your first time was, similar to his.
“I felt calm, at peace and I never felt like that before and it scared me.” He said. Holding him tighter, you kissed his forehead, pushing some of the hair that fell on his forehead, tucking it behind his ear.
“I know it's your first time.” You whispered, “All your emotions come crashing at the same time and you don’t know how to react but you did amazing Xavi, I’m proud of you.”
Xavier just smiled shyly under your gaze, hugging you tightly. Staying there for a moment, you started to pull away, Xavier not liking any of it, hugging you closer.
“I know, I know,” You laughed, “I need to clean up and we can cuddle.”
Keeping your promise, you tidied up, joining Xavier on the bed.
Shifting around, you leaned against the headboard on his bed, Xavier sitting between your legs, his head rested on your chest.
Running your hands through his hair, you massaged his scalp lightly. “You need to stop pushing yourself like that, you need some time to yourself to calm down.”
Xavier just hummed, his eyelights becoming heavy, fluttering shut. It didn’t take long for him to fall asleep, hearing how his breathing started to become deeper and slightly slower.
Looking down at him, the pad of your thumb just runs down the bridge of his nose, kissing the crown of his head, before falling asleep yourself.

Yoko: If something breaks?
Enid: We try to fix it before Y/n gets here.
Yoko: If it doesn't work?
Wednesday: We blame Xavier.

Hello!! Happy Holidays! I saw that your requests are open so I decided to send you an ask if thats allright.
May I request Xavier Thorpe x Vampire Female Reader ? She can read minds, she controls water and she is new student at Nevermore Academy along with her werewolf male best friend Mike.
Thank you so much !❤️
Sorry that I was bothering you
Hey, i wrote my own plot cos you didn't really give one. Hope you like it lovely :)
Xavier Thorpe had always been fascinated by the supernatural. As a student at Nevermore Academy, he had encountered all manner of creatures - from witches to demons to ghosts. But when a new student arrived at the academy, he found himself intrigued in a way he never had been before.
The new student was a female vampire, with H/L H/C and piercing E/C. Xavier couldn't help but be drawn to her, even though he knew that she was dangerous. She could read minds and control water, two powers that made her an even more formidable opponent.
Despite his reservations, Xavier found himself getting to know the vampire, drawn in by her intelligence and her charm. She was unlike anyone he had ever met, and he couldn't help but be captivated by her.
One day, Xavier found himself walking with the vampire along the banks of the river that ran through the academy grounds. He watched in awe as she manipulated the water with ease, creating intricate patterns and shapes in the flowing currents.
"How do you do that?" Xavier asked, his eyes fixed on the water.
"I control it with my mind," the vampire said, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of her lips. "It's one of my gifts as a vampire."
Xavier couldn't help but be impressed. He had seen many supernatural abilities in his time at Nevermore Academy, but this was something truly unique.
As they continued to walk, Xavier couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. He glanced around, trying to sense any danger that might be lurking nearby.
And then he saw them - a group of werewolves, led by none other than Mike, the vampire's best friend.
"What are you doing here?" Xavier asked, his voice tense.
"We're just passing through," Mike said, his eyes fixed on the vampire.
Xavier could sense the tension between the two groups, and he knew that things could turn violent at any moment. He stepped forward, trying to defuse the situation.
"Let's all just calm down," he said, holding out his hands in a gesture of peace.
But it was too late. The werewolves and the vampire were already circling each other, preparing for a fight.
Xavier knew that he had to act fast. He called on his own powers, summoning a burst of telekinetic energy that knocked the werewolves back and sent them flying.
The vampire looked at him in awe, a smile spreading across her face.
"Wow," she said. "I knew you were special, but I had no idea."
Xavier smiled, feeling a surge of pride. He knew that he had done the right thing, protecting his new friend and standing up to her enemies.
As they walked back to the academy, Xavier felt a sense of closeness with the vampire that he had never felt before. He knew that they were from two different worlds, but he couldn't help but feel drawn to her.
And when they finally reached the academy gates, he knew that he had found something worth fighting for - a new friend, and perhaps something more.

GETAWAY CAR !
reader gets upset, when xavier pays no attention to her at the raven’s, but when things get complicated, and her best friend is in the center, she lets down her grudge.
notes: xavier thorpe x reader. reader is a witch. best friends to lovers. mentions of alcohol (wine), underage drinking, probably a few curse words, characters might be a little off tho. SPOILERS for wednesday finale! read on your own responsibility. NOT PROOFREAD
masterlist • taglist (click to be added!)
in the depth of your heart, you’ve always known that you’d end up with xavier thorpe, or have a high school love story with him, so there was no surprise for anyone that knew you, that when he finally asked you out to be his date on the upcoming ball, you were on cloud nine. almost as if he knew that you’ve rejected at least four boys that invited you.
suddenly becoming involved and interested in anything that revolved around the dance, looking out for a dress with enid, and wednesday was much more fun than you anticipated, asking yoko to help you out with make-up, and hair. you were ecstatic — happier than you’ve ever been.
it was finally your turn, after so much time of sulking, you got a chance.
at least you thought so. xavier thorpe has been your friends ever since your parents put you together in one crib, during a spontaneous meet-up with his. you were always there for him, hardly ever putting yourself before him. it wasn’t a shock, when you developed a crush, you could say it was expected.
and then, when he put down another of your offer to have at least one dance, you realized what was going on. your best friend wasn’t as happy as you, whenever the topic of the ball was brought up, changing it as soon as possible, he wasn’t keen on dancing, his mind definitely somewhere else. his eyes tracing around wednesday addams.
your heart clutched in your chest as you shifted in your chair, ready to stand up. “maybe you’d stop sulking if you asked her, instead of sitting here.” you rolled your eyes, the happiness far gone on your face. “do it. i’ll be outside if you were looking for me.” he just nodded his head in reply.
sneaking out noiselessly, you managed to climb upstairs to your dorm to quickly find a bottle of wine, you’d hit under your bed earlier. as soon as your dress touched the wooden floor, your eyes filled with tears — how couldn’t you think about it? even for a second? it was so painfully obvious that he was using you to get her jealous.
the bottle emptied pretty rapidly, but it wasn’t the only bottle you had hidden somewhere in your room. sobs, accompanied by the tunes of a song playing from a random, heartbreak playlist, filled the quiet room as you poured another glass of the liquid. you were just a pawn in his game, a small chapter that didn’t matter, not as much as he mattered to you.
you didn’t even think about washing off your makeup, as it only reminded you about the humiliation you faced after putting it on. you didn’t even put the dress back into the wardrobe, nor clean the empty bottles of your favorite wine.
yet, even though you were hurting so much, all you could do is wonder if he looked for you after your sudden disappearance, did he care enough to be at least a little worried, although you wouldn’t like to know the answer, it didn’t matter anyway.
when your roommate finally came back, her white dress soaked in red paint, she didn’t even care that your sheets would get stained, she didn’t even ask about the reason of your current state, she just pulled you into a hug, and didn’t let go for the next hours as you poured out your heart.
“why do i keep doing this? why do i keep running back to him, whenever he gets upset? why does it hurt so much, when i should’ve known it would end up like that.” you cried, head resting on her laps as you sipped the sweet liquid from the bottle. “will it ever be me?” you asked.
on the next day of classes, you weren’t really yourself. you were rarely bothered by anything, always trying to bring a good mood wherever you went, now — you were the complete opposite. earphones plugged in your ears with music blasting so loud that you barely heard your own thoughts, sunglasses resting at the bridge of your nose to hide the puffiness, and redness of your eyes, not even a single word coming out of your mouth.
“earth to y/n.” bianca tapped your shoulders lightly, grabbing your attention. you two weren’t exactly best friends — she was an ex-girlfriend of a boy you were so obviously interested in, yet you managed to hold everything in for the period of their relationship. “what happened between you, and xavier last night?” she asked, a worried expression painted all over her face.
bianca respected you more than anyone that could possibly be a threat to her relationship with thorpe, when they were still together. which was weird for anyone around you, knowing how inseparable the two of you could be, yet you never wanted to be the one to ruin their best friend’s relationship. so when bianca questioned your motives, not believing any of your words until you asked her to use the siren speak on you to learn the truth. that you backed out the second he told you, that you kept your feelings and affection for yourself.
“nothing.” you shrugged. “i was just a pawn to get wednesday’s attention, something i should’ve expected.” you cracked a sad smile, fixing the sunglasses on your nose. the girl seemed to be… shocked, a frown appearing on her face.
“he was unable to stop talking about you, when we were together yet now when he has a chance, he pulls out shit like that?” a sigh escaped from between her lips, arm threw over your shoulder. “i’ll swing by our room tonight, i’ll make sure you’ll be busy with something else.”
you smiled at the girl, accepting the offer, before she got back to her friend group. a notification popped up on the screen of your phone, a humorless laugh leaving your lips immediately.
xav: need 2 talk, my shack in 5?
as a rational human-being you were (with additional psychic abilities), you left him on read, and never stepped into his art studio. well, at first you were convinced to do it, but your legs decided upon going there — so again, you were running back to him whenever he wanted.
“hey.” you spoke out softly. “you said you needed to talk?” you added, the dim lighting of the room making him almost invisible. his head shot to you immediately, determination painted all over his face.
“where were you after you left?” his words sharply cut through the thick tension built around you. you were about to part your lips, and reveal yourself, when he added. “were you in the woods? that’s why you had to run away so fast? because you are the–”
so this is what it was all about — he didn’t want to see you to check if you were fine, he wanted to see you to investigate if you were the hyde that hurt eugene, and killed rowan. you let out a humorless chuckle, turning your back on him, ready to leave, though his hand gripped on your lower arm.
“so you are the hyde.” he stated, eyes burning with fury. “you left to run after eugene, because he found out about your little secret, so you had to cut ties?” his words incredibly pained you, cutting your heart like a knife, proceeded by stabbing.
you let out a long sigh, looking him dead in the eyes. “i was in my dorm, bawling my eyes out while drinking the wine my sister sent me, because my date didn’t even bother to look at me for a second, even though i spent my last savings to buy a dress, so maybe for once, he would look at me and think that i look pretty, that i did it for him.” you felt the tears filling up your eyes, yet you kept going. “i’ve spent the entire night, wondering when my role as a pawn in his game will end. and i’ve come to a conclusion that it won’t happen, there’s always gonna be someone above me in his hierarchy, even though we were friends for more than i can remember.” he let your arm out of the grip, a confused grimace on his lips. “why didn’t you just ask her? oh wait, i know, i’ve already been told why. you did ask her out, but she refused to go, because tyler invited her earlier, so i was just a getaway car as always.”
when he didn’t break the silence after you finished your monologue, you left, running away to the woods to gather your thoughts, and cry for the fifth time that day. you clearly weren’t in a mood to talk to anyone without a sip of wine. you felt invisible, when you found yourself a seat somewhere in the forest. you were sure that your roommate would ask the teachers to give you a sick day, firmly explaining what happened.
xav: yn,,, im sorry, can we talk it through?
you didn’t reply at all, starting to hold a silent grudge against him, for once, placing yourself before anyone else. until the classes were finished, you were walking around the woods, gathering herbs for your potions, trying to calm down.
throughout your whole life, you believed that your mom has linked your souls together at the very young age, so you could be some sort of anchor for each other, whenever something overwhelmed you, nonetheless it was a double-sided sword. he could mess you up to the point, where you had to take a calming potion (and vice versa), or he could be the one to calm you like no one other could.
so when the evening came, you found yourself dressed up in your favorite pjs, which some time ago belonged to your best friend (now it’s yours, of course), standing at the door leading to bianca’s dorm. two bottles of wine, hidden in the depth of your bag.
“i hope you bought more wine, she drank two and a half bottle last night.” your roommate laughed, arm wrapped around your shoulders as you walked into the room.
the time flew by as you emptied at least three bottles, and you were comfortably laying down on divina’s bed, covered in a blanket junpier brought with her. “he accused me of being the monster today.” you spoke out suddenly, changing the topic back to xavier, who endlessly occupied your mind. “and earlier, enid told me he actually asked wednesday to go with him, she just refused.”
“he really has no shame, has he?” bianca rolled her eyes, taking a seat next to you, and gave you the tightest hug it was only possible. “you know, the thing with wednesday will die down soon, and he’ll come back sooner than you think, he always does.” she planted a soft kiss on your forehead to make her words more believable.
“and if he doesn’t, which is doubtful, then you have us, we can find you someone.” divina joined you on the bed, a big smile spread over her face as she watched you let out a light chuckle. “maybe elliott, the werewolf? he’s pretty hot.”
you were cuddling for the rest of the night, sleeping in the most uncomfortable positions that ever existed, surrounded by blankets, and lots of pillows. after that night, full of drunk confessions, words of reassurance, cuddles and lots of wine, you felt confident enough to face xavier.
it happened sooner than you anticipated, you made your way downstairs to see him, waiting and knocking at the door, pale, and shaken up. “hey, looking for someone?” you asked, his large t-shirt hanging loosely on your body.
“yn, can we talk it through? please.” he asked, begged, watching as you walked into the room, and when you didn’t close the door, he took it as a sign to step. “we?” you scoffed. “let me explain myself.”
“i don’t know if i want to hear it.” you smiled at him, before mumbling something under your breath with a hand above a pack of cookies, changing it to a proper meal. “eat it, then we can talk.” you passed the dish to him, crossing your arms afterwards.
there was a thing about xavier that had always extremely infuriated you, ever since you were children. — he was terrible at taking proper care of himself, usually forgetting to have something to eat with him, whenever he went to his art studio. you’d always cast a spell on some of your snacks, you just bought in the city, to change it into something he liked, and then accidentally step by.
“i- i’m sorry that i made the dance miserable for you.” you leaned your back on your desk, eyebrows furrowed as you listened to him speak. “i really wanted to have fun with you, but i felt the presence of the monster there, near wednesday. it frustrated me to the point, where my mind went completely blank, ruining the dance not only for myself, but also for you.”
“and you’ve never been a pawn for me, you’ve always been present in the back of my mind, you are the factor that keep me sane, you’re the only person that brought so much happiness to my life.” he stood up from his seat, and walked towards you. his hands grabbing yours, softly, knuckles caressing it gently. “i’ve always been aware of my feelings for you, my heart has always belonged to you, and it always will, but i’m scared of losing you.”
“then why didn’t you call me, when i didn’t get back? why did you assume i was the monster? xavier, i beg you, stop trying to mess with my feelings, nothing adds up.” your tone was so quiet that the boy had to get even closer to hear it. “all i wanted was you to spend quality time with you, because you ditched me for wednesday a lot, since she got here, and i get that you can do whatever you want, so i was quiet about it, but even at the event you invited me to go with you?” seeing you so vulnerable made xavier’s heart clutch painfully in his chest. it was all, because of him, and he didn’t like a single bit of it.
“i wish everything was different, really. making you cry was the last thing i wanted to do, and you can hate me all you want, i deserve it for treating you like that.” he let out a long sigh. “but i just want you to know that it’s always been you, my head was always filled with your laughter, and memories of you.”
the closeness between you was overwhelming, taking your last senses from you, the same moment, when your best friend closed the gap, kissing you so delicately. feeling his lips on yours was infatuating, and enchanting, nonetheless, you pulled away, his forehead leaned on yours. “no, no, no. you can’t do that right now, not when i’m so angry with you. give me time, please.”
and with that, he stepped back with a simple nod, his eyes didn’t leave your face even for a second. “i’ll give you as much time as you need, i promise.” were the last words he has spoken before leaving your room.
for the next two weeks, three tops, you two barely exchanged a word, everyone around could sense the tension between, but you weren’t ready to talk to him as you still felt the pain from the dance. however, when wednesday announced that xavier was the hyde, you couldn’t believe it. none of these attacks were thorpe’s doing, and you were positive.
“i’ll curse the hell out of you, if you won’t let me see him.” you hissed at one of the cops, before he leaded you to the cell, where they kept your best friend, and seeing him in a state like that was destroying.
“yn?” shocked was painted on his face as you stepped into the room, a worried expression on yours. “it’s not me, i swear. please, someone set me up, please, you have to believe me.” his broken voice rang out in your ears as you nodded.
“hey, calm down and breathe for me, please.” you asked. “i’ll find a way to get you out of here, okay? everything’s gonna be fine, i’ll figure out whose doing it was, and you’ll be clear.” you sent him a reassuring, warm, and soo loving smile that all he could do was reciprocate it. “then, we can go out on a date, but you owe me so much wine, xavier thorpe that i don’t think you’ll be able to pay me back.”
when your time was up, you hang around the city for a while, thinking how could you get xavier out without breaking any laws that would put you there instead. grabbing a quick coffee from the weathervane, before coming back to the castle with xavier being your only thought.
you visited him thrice over the time, promising that if you don’t find the person who set him up, you’ll start breaking laws and free him within a blink.
you were surrounded by a crowd of people during the evacuation, caused by bringing joseph crackstone back to life. you were responsible for the spell that would keep everyone tranquil, and quiet in a place safe enough that the pilgrim’s actions wouldn’t reach.
and then, you noticed the boy you had feelings for, standing further away, making his way towards the crowd of people, and you couldn’t resist — you ran to him, throwing your hands around his neck, pulling him into a hug. when you backed off a few seconds later, your fingers running through his hair as you smiled so widely. “it’s you.” you chuckled lightly.
you remember everything that happened afterwards — mr. galpin handcuffing his son, the funeral the new principal threw for mrs. weens, brewing a potion for wednesday, so her scar from taking an arrow for bianca could heal faster, the end of the school year, and your date with xavier.
some would say you were reckless for not moving on from the blonde boy, some would bash you for giving him another chance, but you valued your friendship, and his presence in your life. so, it wasn’t a surprise for his housemates to see you at his door at one of the last nights of school year, dressed up in the comfiest clothes you had (which were, surprisingly, his).
you both decided that going out to a restaurant was unnecessary, and you could spend some quality time with each other in his room by eating a strawberry shortcake, drinking wine, and watching movies.
it was around first in the morning, when you finished ten things i hate about you, your head rested on his shoulder as you clung to his arm, being already a little tipsy. “i can’t believe you actually hadn’t watched my favorite movie before! julia stiles was so hot, and for what!” you giggled lightly, turning your head towards him.
“waited till i could watch it with you.” he tugged on a smile, and kissed you so sweetly that you felt like dying from the butterflies in your stomach. your fingers grabbed the collar of his shirt as he pulled you even closer, sitting you on his lips. “i love you.” xavier whispered in between the kisses, making your stomach burn on the inside.
it felt like a dream — to be kissed by a boy you pinned over so long, to have his hands on your waist, and hickies made by him on your neck, to be loved by him. even if it was a dream, the last thing you wanted was to wake up.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At times I wished I had the same emotionless expression as my “cousin.” One might ask why I put air quotes around the word, it’ simple.
Her uncle Fester happened to stumble upon myself and mother’s violin when I was merely three months old during one of his “adventures”.
As I previously said, I wish I could copy her expression, especially now. You slam your journal shut, turning to look at your clock.
You grab your jacket and exit the room, making your way towards Xavier’s art shed. Your mind is blank but thoughts float around your mind, you wonder what it is he wanted to talk to you about.
With Wednesday firmly believing that he is the hyde, it makes you more weary of being alone with him… in the woods but if you can talk to him in his safe space so he doesn’t “totally freak out” as Enid would say, you believe it would do you good.
“Do you believe me?” Xavier spins around to look at you.
You gulp, this is not where you saw this going right after entering the shed. “I don’t- I don’t know,” you say, giving him your honest answer.
“What do you mean you don’t know? It’s either you believe that I’m not the monster or you agree with your cousin,” he hisses out the word you’ve grown accustomed to calling the pigtailed girl.
You ignore his gaze and opt to look at the floor. “I- I,” the thought you had written down in your journal crosses your mind.
“I don’t think you’d do all these things, but you have to admit the evidence she has does make it highly possible for you to be the hyde.”
He furrows his brows, face slowly becoming more void of emotion. “If you really believe that I’m the monster then why are you here?”
You raise your head. “I- I needed to see it for myself.”
“See what?” He asks with a tired tone.
“I- what’s that?” You point over to the sketchbook with a flower bookmark sticking out of it.
“That- that’s nothing. Why is that important now?” He’d never admit it out loud, but he was always impressed with how your attention could be drawn elsewhere within a second, even if it isn’t the most appropriate time for this to happen.
You ignore him and walk over towards it, opening the page to find a drawing of yourself playing your deceased mothers’ violin. You reach for the flower and find yourself thrown into a vision.
How odd, Wednesday’s the one who usually experiences these, at least from what you can remember. It is also weird how whenever she would have one, you would pass out.
Eugene’s screams flood your mind.
The cave where the monster hides is on fire.
The hyde’s wide and red rimmed eyes.
Red boots… red boots?
-
You wake up, blinking as your eyes adjust to the moonlit room. “How did I get here?”
The numerous footsteps echoing throughout the hallway draw you out of bed.
You open the door and listen to the scared and panicked shrieks of the other students, rushing over towards the railing you find the red aura of the siren song on the lower floors.
Crackstone.
Your head snaps over towards the side. You furrow your brows at the sight of a pale dressed Wednesday, not your cousin but- “Goody?”
She nods. “You must help her.”
“Help who?”
“The key.”
You remember the pigtailed girl mentioning this to you, you know exactly who she’s referring to. “Where is she?”
“I am going to her now, but you must guide her.”
“Guide her? Guide her how?”
“His black heart will end it… I must go to her now.” She starts to disappear.
“No, Goody. Wait!” You sigh and look down.
Bianca’s head snaps up.
You block her song and search for a window. At times like this, you’re happy you’ve climbed the walls of the school.
 -
You stand on the edge of the roof just before the upper hallway where you can see Bianca and a few others. You don’t feel good, something’s going on with the black-haired girl, the urge to scream is on the tip of your tongue but you fight it as you protect the students.
You place a temporary shield around the area, preventing the fire from reaching any of the students and jump down. “Crackstone!”
He turns to you, the evil look in his eye should send shivers down your spine but you don’t let it, not wanting him to harm anyone.
“Another one. How nice.” The revived Joseph Crackstone taunts you.
“Don’t you think this is a bit much?”
He aims his magical staff at you, luckily you are able to block it. “I am ridding the earth of you abominations!”
“You’re an abomination too!”
“Lies!”
“Your descendant raised you, brought you back from the dead!”
You spin around, avoiding his magic. “You have magic! You are now the very thing you despise yourself! How can you get rid of what keeps your heart beating at this very moment!”
“I am doing what should have been done years ago.”
“You’re going to die, and your magic will not be able to save you.” You raise your hand, trying to telepathically pull the staff away from him.
“Stay away from her.”
Why does this voice sound so familiar?
The arrow flies past your head, in front of the resurrected man, only for him to use his magic and flip it.
You cannot let it hit him or anyone else and put yourself before him to stop it. You spin around, landing on your back unable to catch your breath.
Xavier runs towards you, lifting your upper body off the ground.
“Get the others out of here,” you tell him once you can breathe again.
“What?” He furrows his brows, mouth curling in disbelief.
“You need to get the other students out of here. We cannot lose anyone else.”
“I don’t-”
“I have to help her,” you whisper.
He helps you up, “I don’t like this idea.”
“Good thing,” you snap the arrow and chuck it onto the ground. “You aren’t going to be here to see the rest of it… be careful.”
“You, too.” You push him away when you sense Joseph aiming the damn staff at you.
You stand beside Wednesday. “We have to aim for his-”
“Heart, yes,” she cuts you off. “I didn’t realize you were aware.”
“Let’s say, seeing the dead does have its perks at times. I expect no tears from you at my funeral.”
“Don’t-”
Xavier turns at her shout, his heart drops.
You run at him as Bianca stabs the man in the back. You rub your hands together, thankful for Fester teaching you how to use his trick now more than ever. You hold him in place and call out for her. “Now, Wednesday!”
She lifts the sword and stabs him in his black heart.
You can’t remove your hands from him, not until he fully disappears even then you fall, eyes closing.
The hands on your shoulders and whoever’s attempting to do CPR bring you out of your quick reenergize nap.
You open your eyes and give three a tired smile.
The artist helps you sit up and continues to hold you even as Wednesday wraps her arms around you.
You smile and kiss the top of her head, letting her know it’s over (you hope, unless Nevermore isn’t done with you all).
She forces herself off you, letting Bianca and Xavier help you up.
You nod to the siren. “Let’s go find the others.”
-
The four of you walk out of the school, searching for the waiting party.
You lean against the boy throughout the entire walk.
He hasn’t said a word to you, and you don’t know what you could say to him other than, “I’m sorry.”
Enid rushes over to hug your cousin, giving you a moment to talk to him.
“Why are you sorry?”
“I believed you were the very thing that would terrorize the school when I shouldn’t have. I should have followed my heart.”
“I think I can forgive you. I mean, you did take an arrow to the shoulder for me.”
“And I would do it again if it meant I had your trust.”
He shakes his head, “I wouldn’t want you to get hurt over my trust.”
“I should have listened to you.”
The corner of his lip’s tugs upward, “yeah, maybe. But now that you’ve saved the school, I think I can understand where you were coming from.”
“No, don’t do that.”
“What?”
“Don’t just brush it off, I know what I did wasn’t the nicest or most respectful thing to do when I’ve known you and have been your friend for three years. I know you; I have for years, and I shouldn’t have let someone else’s theories get into my head to ruin that trust.”
He nods, tucking the hair blocking his view behind his ear. “I’ll take that into consideration.”
Your lips twitch, “that’s all I ask.”
Enid rushes over to you, hugging you not nearly as tightly as your cousin but enough to let you know how much she cares about you.
 -
You leave Wednesday to finish her novel while Thing finishes packing for her. You wonder around, waiting until it’s time to leave.
“The feeling of eyes on me brings a chill up my spine and not in the fun way,” you think. “That would be a good thought to right down when I return to my room.”
You turn, facing the stairs to find him watching you which may be creepy to some, but you find it to be rather sweet.
He waves and leans against the railing.
You walk up the stairs, wanting to talk to him before your dragged out of here. “Are your parents coming to pick you up?”
He shrugs, “probably not… I got you something.”
“Really?” You raise a brow.
“It’s not much but it’ll be faster than the letters." He lifts the lid off the box, showing you your new phone.
“Don’t expect a call,” you inform him, not wanting to hurt his feeling. You must really care about him if you’re taking his feelings into consideration.
“I’m not.”
You squint your eyes at him, “seems you know me well.”
“That and,” he tucks his hair behind his ears. “I know you don’t like new things… at least, until you get the hang of them.”
“I guess we’ll have to see about this then.”
“I believe in you.”
“I trust that you’ll have a normal summer?”
“It might be fun if I get a phone call.”
“Don’t push it.”
He smiles, having a feeling that you’ll learn to use the phone faster to call him. “How’s your shoulder?”
“Fine. I’ve decided to let it heal on its own.”
“No magic?”
“I believe it would be wise to save my energy. I have a feeling we’re just getting started with Nevermore and all it has to offer.” You take the phone out of the box and hold it. “How do you use this dark box you call a phone?”
He chuckles, taking it from you, “why are you calling it a dark box exactly?”
“It’s painfully obvious.”
“Alright, I’ll give you that. I already programmed my phone number in here. What exactly you were looking for?”
“I want to send you my aunt Morticia and Uncle Gomez’ address. I will be staying with Wednesday and her family this summer; we believe it would be wise if we stay together.”
“Okay,” he shows you how to use the phone.
“I cannot guarantee I’ll be able to remember all of this.”
“As long as you can turn it on and remember to charge it, you’ll be alright,” he assures you.
“Do you know if you’re ability can work over the phone?”
He shrugs. “I’ve never tried before.”
“Perhaps it could be our summer activity?”
He nods, not at all hiding his smile when you said, “our activity”. It seems as though there’s a chance for him to ask you out in the near future. “Maybe.”
