poolverine is one of the MANY xmen ships that has eaten at my brain of late, and now u indulge me with asking abt them???? YOU my friend are the delicious one. i will do my best to make this a reasonable length and also understandable.

ok here are our players: you have deadpool aka wade winston wilson and you have wolverine aka logan.

wade is a vigilante who started as a hitman. he has basically no morals except for his soft spot for abused children as he was one himself. he talks to much and copes with immense amounts of trauma via humour. he harbours a need to be needed + also a slight hero's complex but has been rejected from every cool and reputable superhero team there is (on account of the no morals). but, occasionally saves his dramatically and heroically saves his loved ones and more recently, the entire universe. wade has stage four terminal cancer but also the ability to rapidly regenerate his cells, thus, he not only is constantly surviving his cancer, but literally anything else. severed arm? no problem. body full of bullets? sure, give him like 30 seconds.

logan is 200 years old and has fought in literally every war ever. he is deeply traumatised (see: every war ever) and considers himself no hero, preferring his whole 'im a lone wolf i need no team' ideal. unlike wade, he IS a foundational member of one of the coolest superhero groups; the x-men, though he is adamant that he doesn't care for the team or actually want to be part of it (see: lone wolf, deeply troubled). like wade, logan can regenerate from almost anything. he has a near-indestructible metal welded to his skeleton as a result of a crazy scientist, metal claws that protract like a kitty cat's, and generally wolf-like instincts. these abilities are on account of him being a 'mutant'.

mutants are born with/have developed special genetic mutations (like claws or regeneration or laser eyes, etc). they are, generally, hated in this world. if the x-men series does one thing right, it makes for a wonderful analogy on fear-based discrimination on account of human differences (being a queer person and an x-man fan is not for the faint of heart, man). mutants and humans are constantly pitted against each other. groups like the x-men try to bridge the difference by proving they are not dangerous but only trying to live regular lives without having to hide. you can guess how well this goes (not at all well).

i hope you're with me so far.

now, logan eventually ends up (spoiler alert!) dying despite his healing factor by sacrificing himself very heroically and tragically - proved to be the x-man he always claimed he wasn't. he is remembered as a hero, THE x-man, etc. wade, not accepted into the x-men, has this one sided beef with dead-200yrs old-superhero logan.

cut to years later. wade has given up his vigilante/hero ways on account of all the rejection and everyone's disbelief that he could ever actually save the world/do anything remotely serious and genuinely heroic. however, all of wade's loved ones will die if he can't save the world this time. no one trusts he can actually do it, but it's all down to him. uh oh! dilemma! even worse? wade needs logan to save the world. logan who is still super dead, which isn't very helpful.

fear not! multiverse! long story short wade searches a bunch of parallel universes until he finds A logan that might work with him. unfortunately for the both of them, he ends up teaming up with who is known as the 'worst wolverine'. if logan from wade's timeline was traumatised, this guy's on a whole other level. worst!logan is responsible for the death of all the x-men in his universe, those who he definitely loved but refused to show he did - preferring to be an angry alcoholic over any kind of hero. if original!logan had few morals, this guy has none. he's not a nice guy. but that's okay, wade isn't really one either.

the fun dynamic we now have at play is: wade, not a hero, wants to be a hero, needs to be a hero but can't be. logan, a hero in literally every other universe, refuses outright to be one. both: sad. both: also capable of regenerating no matter what. both: with anger issues and violent tendencies and can be stabbed by the other a million times and never sustain lasting physical damage. aka: your match made in heaven. wade needs logan to become a hero to save all his loved ones. logan's loved ones are all fuckin' dead, why should he care? the parallels are beautiful and unending.

in the film that has just come out, the whole thing is basically a gay sex metaphor where they stab each other a bunch and definitely fall in love a bit (a lot), ending with worst!logan leaving his own timeline to permanently join wade's (which they did successfully save after they BOTH make the hero play and sacrifice themselves for each other yet both managing to survive). in the fics that have since further developed this dynamic, you see a lot of two men who have never known kindness or gentleness in their lives learn that they have to be slightly gentle bc they're both traumatised and unloved af (but also, not too gentle, they're both literally indestructible). and of course, you get some really delicious and artfully grotesque smut because they both have massive pain kinks and are, again, indestructible.

and that's the gist! logan generally can be shipped with quite literally anybody on account of the fact that he is a canonical whore and also the whole x-men team is a disaster of homoerotic relationships. however worst!logan x wade has a very special place in my heart.

i had so much fun with this. even if you read none of this, i thank you anyway for asking. everyone in my real life is sick of me talking about my silly little superheroes.

and fig, if you ever wanted to delve into the realm of tragic gay superhero ships, i recommend something called 'stucky'. it has nothing to do with the x-men but good god does it have the same brilliant awful-ness of wolfstar. i can make a whole seperate post about that some other time.

k so im writing an RTC fanfic that is a Famous AU and I need to spread how I view all the characters in this AU

General stuff -they're all in their late 20s/early 30s -the accident did happen, but there was no musical stuff and they didn't die. they just had bad injuries -the choir has mostly split off. -Ships: Blackrose, Spacedolls, Passionfruit, frenchspace, spacerap, frenchspacerap, Mischa x Talia -Ricky and Penny are married, Ocean and Constance are married and have a son, Mischa and Talia are engaged, and Noel is just fucking alone at the start of the story -Ocean travels a lot but lives with Constance in Uranium -Ricky and Penny live in Ricky's childhood home -Noel lives in his childhood home -Mischa and Talia have a house in Canada and in Ukraine Ocean -Politician -She campaigns for anti-discrimination and environmental stuff often -She is publicly proud about her relationship with Constance -lost contact with most of the choir -sometimes talks to Penny but it's not as easy as it used to be Constance -Baker -She is passively famous and is absolutely fine with just that -hates how people try and publicize her relationship with Ocean, but understands that happens sometimes -consistently talks to Penny, but they aren't necessarily friends Ricky -Sci-Fi author -couple of bestsellers, including his debut novel 'The Space-Age Bachelor Man' -finds speculation about his relationship status funny, but if you asked he would tell you he is happy in his marriage to Penny -tries to talk to Noel sometimes, but only got a response once. It was for an invitation to see the preview of the film based on one of Ricky's books. Noel declined. Penny/Jane -Painter -one of her most acclaimed works is a painting of her and Ricky together. She has one she never finished with all the choir is together. She started it after the accident, but stopped working on it as they all drifted apart. -very happy with Ricky and content to be where she is in life -talks to Constance and consistently eats at Blackwood Cafe. Constance says she doesn't have to pay, but she does. Mischa -Rapper/Singer:has a solo career but also has a duo with Talia -He has a song about his feelings for Noel, Ricky and Talia called 'This Big Heart of Mine' but everyone always assumes it's ONLY about Talia -Loves Talia very much but is also still hung up on his old crushed on Ricky and Noel. He and Talia aren't married yet because they both realized that they don't quite care about the title of their relationship, just that they're togther. -Hasn't spoken to the choir in years but is back in Uranium to do so

Talia -Singer:solo career as well as duo with Mischa -always had a passion for singing but Mischa was the one to encourage it -Loves Mischa and supports his endeavor of trying to win the hearts of Ricky and Noel -never actually knew the choir but thinks they sound nice based on what Mischa says Noel -Poet -most popular works is a poetry collection about the accident and how it felt to see all the choir members drift away after it titled 'Typhoon Mind' -loved Mischa and maybe Ricky, but never did anything about it. Now he beds random men every night. -hasn't spoken to the choir in years and doesn't really want to

Can you help me understand? Why's MHA so bad with discrimination? It's embarrassing how bad it is!

Sorry about sitting on this ask for months but I wanted to get everything in order cause this is a long one!

MHA fence sitting on injustices

My hero tries so very cutely so solve injustices in it's media and does it poorly by having it either happen offscreen or barely addressing it to actually try fixing later. (More under read more)

Things ended so perfectly for the mutants, and all because Shoji told the mutants fighting injustice that they should...stop. Oh shoji, we should talk about his character and the treatment of him and hor Hori just skims the issues with mutant treatment.

A little background, Shoji here literally has no character, it's so bad to the point Hori didn't know how to design his room with the excuse of "Oh I don't have many worldy desires."

what kid talks like this? He doesn't even have training gear or extra mask, or any hero posers- pretty easy to say that hori just didn't have anything planned for a while. Which fair, he had a whole cast of students from two classes, and pro and teachers so...fine right? What was weird is the lack of characterization for several seasons with this character.

So it turns out he wears the mask cause he was heavily scarred and attacked by a mod of adult prejudices as his backstory, didn't want to talk about it nor mention it till it was relevant for him to fight for the side of injustice! He mentions kids being murdered for having mutant DNA! And at first Hori is making a good point here that prejudice is real, there are people who murder, belittle, and treat very real people horribly for the ways they look.

(They also apparently talk about this once and...that's it? as a POC person it's never just ONCE, X-men brings it up very well that fence sitting is not acceptable if you care about the lives of mutants, you can't be passive on injustice!)

This is a very sympathetic and relatable bit of characterization- so its embarrassing that Horikoshi uses it to justify said prejudices...Oho I can't wait to explain this one!

Setting writing back 30 years.

At some point in the future Shoji, again the character who barely gets to express himself as a character? Fights spinner, a character similar to him as that he's a mutant and gets very little screentime and engagement in the show/manga. Spinner is told multiple times he's useless and stupid and even one of his allies in Dabi calls him what the MHA mutant KKK call him. A lizard.

"But Dabi's a villain." I'd probably hear people say- Yeah...so were the KKK, doesn't mean you can't be prejudice, and Dabi here shares said prejudice attitude towards mutants that many of our heroes do.

His brother calls the chief of police a mutt after they break some major laws that could of gotten them killed, and later he even sees that this officer (even tho we don't stan pigs here!) was helping them and he even states he thinks he should apologize...guess the did that offscreen, like they do everything.

Shinso calls Ojiro a monkey and yet people ship them, idk how much they look cute together I wouldn't ship anyone with a person calling me outside my name. Now do I think they're full on prejudice? No but they shouldn't also get to let this slide because people like them. (Would of been nice to let Ojiro beat Shinso in a spar as recompense.) but Hori loves letting most of it slide, no one calls out Shinso, Dabi or his brother and tells them to chill. Even Deku gets in on some fence sitting.

This tall woman's getting attacked by heavily armed citizens with support weapons in her introduction- Deku jumps in and tells them to calm down, with them walking away saying the below. Like she can change that.

Now this is a great way to show that prejudice is wrong and that Deku doesn't jive with that shit. I would of had Deku break their support gear, and tell them to find shelter instead of taking matters into their own hands and attacking indiscriminately.

But Deku lets them walk away with deadly weapons that can kill. And when the tall woman tells him that she was trying to find safety and that she was scared by these jackasses, Deku doesn't sympathize with her- he says this!

This poorly worded drivel reads exactly how it does on the page, it comes across as justification for the public attacking innocent mutants based on looks instead of telling them that they were in the wrong? She even gets turned away from many other shelters denying mutants!

I'm aware that many villains attacking heroes at this point ARE mutants but, she's unarmed, begging them to stop, and a guy lines up a killshot before blaming her for how she looks; then our hero goes "Well we're all scared!" Thanks!

That's like me telling X-men's nightcrawler who was about to be murdered by racist. "Well both sides were scared." This is the ultimate fence sitting! Not to mention it's established early on that mutants aren't allowed in certain shops and get slurs and rocks thrown at them; people assume the worst of them and there are even times where some are confused for villains and attacked like Gang orca.

But if you're an attractive enough mutant like Hawks and Miruko you can get away with being a mutant- it's the equivalent of Hollywood saying they'll hire more black people and only hiring the light skinned black individuals. Which could be an interesting discussion to have; The fertilization of mutant quirks, desirable ones vs ones that people show hate towards. Obviously people don't show the same type of prejudices towards Hawks and Miruko vs Shoji and Orca.

This all culminates into the MHA war arc in which many out of pocket things happen, like Hori uses the black lives matter movement and ROCK LOCK- THE ONLY BLACK HERO IN MHA (there's not even any black students and background heroes.) And the mutants turn to him and say things like "we aren't looters" WHAT!? And even worst

"You would never understand." A black person would never understand prejudice? Even if MHA was an idealize world, it's based off our own world and rock lock again is the only one, and them turning to him and saying this comes off as tone deaf. Like why rock lock? How many heroes have glue, tape and adhesive powers that could of had this scene? Not saying I don't want Rock lock, I'm saying having a black person be told they don't get prejudice based on how they look is....idiotic.

And it just gets worse! Shoji finally gets screentime to tell people to stop fighting against injustice.

He finally gets something and it's to tell spinner to stop fighting mutants getting slaughtered, to stop letting heroes and the police sit on their hands and do nothing- everyone knows that if you wanna be good second class citizens and get equality, you have to wait patiently and quietly till people deem you good enough to EARN it.

He does talk about the cycle of violence, but the problem is....hori never has a person like Todoroki or Deku turn towards regular people and tell them that THEY should be ashamed of how they treat mutants as well.

It's so easy to turn towards marginalized people radicalized into fighting against prejudice, but man is it on so hard to turn to the people being shitty and not saying a damn thing! My hero does this so poorly, the people who hurt mutants never have to address their prejudices and they never get called out, or are made to change out of kindness- they just get away with it.

And it ends again as we see at the beginning of this post- offscreen! Shoji brings peace to many mutant locations and we're just supposed to be fine with no one putting in effort but the mutants themselves.

It's the biggest fence sitting the series does, completely putting the onus of change on the mutants! It's a shame too, cause MHA had potential! But it'll end up as a series that just barely involves itself in the struggle and many mutant characters barely get to grow and prove anything.

You probably already answered something like this, but what do you about the Naruto and Sasuke ship? You think it doesn't work, or Naruto isn't actually a good fit for Sasuke? I love a lot of the analysis and the way you write, so I'm curious.

Hi there! Thank you for your words.

I did write something about them here, so you might want to look into that, I don't focus much on the SNS dynamic inside the manga and I might do that at some point (there's a lot of ground to cover) as the relevant points repeat themselves quite constantly throughout their interactions.

You need to take into account how Naruto interacts with the notion of "prodigy" in order to understand his approach towards Sasuke and how his acknowledgment became of utmost importance to him, as such is the basis of their relationship:

Regarding Naruto’s characterization, antagonizing the "prodigy" notion is incredibly important to him, not because he (truly) denies the strength of those who are given the title, but because their existence denies him of the acknowledgment he seeks, as all his accomplishments are "overshadowed" by Neji and Sasuke's sole presence. Therefore being recognized (positively so) by their ninja skills (as such is the political and cultural importance of such aspects inside the Shinobi system) is, to him, the most important category when pointing out a person’s value. To Naruto (and a big portion of the fandom) Neji is not considered a failure (unlike himself, Hinata, or Lee) therefore he somehow has an easier life despite being, in every other manner, oppressed by his family. This is a mindset Konoha in itself teaches to its citizens as this dogma’s value rests on the fact that it guarantees the success and preservation of the status quo established. Therefore, for Will of Fire supporters, Sasuke couldn’t be discriminated against because he was praised for his techniques/was popular, Neji might be a slave but he’s incredibly valuable to Konoha due to his strength, so there is some sort of “retribution”.

Naruto is contemplating Sasuke abandoning him and Team 7, which is the primary fuel in this quest and the reason behind his pain, he mentions the team that Shikamaru gathered (per Tsunade’s orders) to bring him back as these are individuals that put their life on the line to “rescue” Sasuke, yet Sasuke cares not. Naruto’s words are not a coincidence, he never states that the people searching for him are Sasuke’s friends (they aren’t, they never interacted in any significant way), the only thing they have in common is their village of origin and loyalty. For Naruto, that’s enough for a bond, for Sasuke it isn’t. I do believe that this specific claim: “You think I’m just gonna let you go?!” which is the culmination of Naruto’s speech about how Orochimaru will grant him power in exchange for his life (x) is understandable as Naruto is both hurt by Sasuke abandoning them and scared for his friend’s life (Sasuke is even leaving despite being aware that he’ll be likely killed, which is quite worse as not only Naruto feels pain as a result of his only friend escaping, but also him leaving to certain death). Naruto’s primary knowledge about Sasuke’s goal (killing Itachi) is that he’s willing to die for it (x) that, in regards to Naruto’s own goal, it’s unfathomable –as death is not one of the lengths Naruto is prepared for in order to get the acknowledgment he seeks. Furthermore, Sasuke’s death will automatically jeopardize his own objective, as Sasuke’s recognition is the one Naruto craves the most (here and here Naruto remembers Sasuke denying Naruto the equal status he wants, and Sasuke once again refuses: “who cares what you want?”). “You were my Idol, and so… hearing that… I was never happier, with those words, for the first time… you acknowledged I was good.” (x) Can’t make it clearer here Sasuke’s relevance on Naruto’s life and the importance of him staying, of him acknowledging Naruto.

Ok into the IzuOcha ask: I bet you have come across ships where "this girl deserve better" not sure if you read naruto but sasusaku is canon aka sasuke x sakura. Now, some fans of hers (all of them) say she is a poor thing and deserve better (wont enter here how untrue it is as she got her happy ending, its sasuke who is miserable) and ...I can say Izuocha can be the sasusaku of mha.

Will be canon? Sure.

Will be happy for Izu? NO. Not in canon. Not by Hori.

They had a cute meet. Sure, but it never developed more than that.

1) she calls him deku. Do I know Japanese? No. So I give a pass and maybe deku and dekiru are similar speaking. Ok. The issue here is not that...is how Ochako sees BK calling Izu deku with 100% hostility and ...head empty. Its sus. Its also not cute Izu accept the name deku.

2) she makes no attempt to know him. Grant Izu doesn't either but he does have an excuse as social cues are smth he struggles thanks to 10 years of abuse...amazing how that is smth Hori remembers to give to Izu😒

3) the LN, it paints their relationship so bad. I dont need to point out the obvious.

4) the aftermath of Ixu vs bk. Izu was punished for defending against his abuser, Iida didnt let him see his notes and treated him as a criminal...sure it was to be comical but falls flat as Iida wanted to commited murder (hated he punched Izu) byt Ochako didnt even approach Izu and asks whats up. She also blamed him. "This is a problem of both" and runs with that.

5) Mina and Aoayama have to tell her, and subsequence us, she likes Izu. Otherwise, we wouldn't guess. She made the decision to hide her feelings for Izu...and why? Is not as if she lost a big chance to win money by blushing to Izu.

6) I dont like how the girls in class A1 are taking Ocha's side here in relation to the ship. The movie where Izu meets Melissa...when Izu returns to class A1 the girls seems upset as if he did smth wrong...I find that unfair(I never saw the movie and have 0 desire to do so as BK is there. And sure that scene may have context...)

7) She never even attempt to know Izu. But she is ok in being Toga's blood bank. Togaochako may not be canon and she may have rejected Toga...but the point is not "Ochako wants to kiss Toga" is how Ochako makes no effort for Izu...but we are supposed to see her as this great love interest. In canon, she really isnt. It kills me how she makes 0 effort for Izu...didnt smile when she corned Izu with bk and others...didnt look happy to see him...but is willing to die for Toga. Like....does Izu has a love interest?

8) she called him plain...when she has a plain design. The things she says and does could have land her "mean girl" title

9)"you wont fight quirkless are you?" While I dont subscribe to "quirkless discrimination " as everyone does...I do think it makes sense for only quirked people to be heroes...so with that in mind, Ochako is somewhat saying is ok for Izu to break bones but fight quirkless is wierd? That is intersting to explore but would make her look bad...and by consequence bk and we know who Hori loves.

Not saying Ocha should do anything and everything for Izu...but this story only allows the shallow forms of "love"

I've answered an IzuOcha asked before so if you wanna take a look at that for more of an insight feel free to.

1. It actually used to irritate me that she called him Deku too BUT someone pointed out to me that Uraraka is from the Mie (?) prefecture and can tend to mix up the pronunciation of "Deku" and "Dekiru" due to her accent. So when she wants to say "Dekiru," it comes out sounding like "Dek'u." This person also said that it gives meaning to their relationship that Izuku decided to keep this name because of this and I actually do somewhat agree. I think Horiloshi's execution of this could have been better (show don't tell Hori), but I don't mind it as much as I used to.

2. I would actually say Uraraka does make a decent attempt to get to know him at least in the beginning. Sure her questions and conversations aren't super deep, but she goes out of her way to make conversation with him and get him to open up. She is only 15/16 too after all so I give her a lot of grace.

3. For my own sanity, I choose to ignore the light novels. If I read them I'll come out disliking 98% of the characters🙂

4. Yes this... Isn't great for either Iida or Uraraka. It actually feels like flat out character regression for Iida (done for a cheap laugh). Uraraka (and all of 1A including All Might and Aizawa) has a kind of warped view on Izuku and Bakugou's relationship. I don't think she's aware that their toxic relationship goes past rivalry, probably because Izuku never says anything bad about Bakugou and doesn't open up. I'm not defending what she says here because it was wrong, but she doesn't have the full story. If she did, her reaction would be very different (she is one of the few characters that will call Bakugou out, even if it isn't as harsh as it should be). I don't even think Horikoshi himself understands the power imbalance between Izuku and Bakugou, so it makes sense that his characters don't either.

5. So Uraraka does this because she doesn't want her feelings to get in the way of becoming a good hero. It's not a bad approach to her character in theory, but Horikoshi's execution of it is horrible (which is true for most of his characters). The problem isn't necessarily that she does this, the problem is a) there was nothing leading up to her having feelings for him past admiration it just... happened, b) there's really no explanation as to how simply having/accepting her feelings would get in the way, and c) it focuses way too much on her avoiding her feelings for Izuku than her actually growing as a hero; in trying to focus her away from Izuku Hori's centering her around him even more. In another author's hands, this could have actually been a decent arc, but oh well.

6. This scene actually isn't too serious. Yaoyorozu and Jirou aren't being malicious to Izuku, they're just teasing him. And they're very nice to Melissa (so is Uraraka) and get along with her well. I don't even think Uraraka was that jealous, maybe a bit envious if anything, and she wasn't upset. The movie doesn't focus on Bakugou too much (unlike that monstrosity of a second movie) so it's not a bad watch. I enjoyed it because we learn more about All Might's time in America and Izuku's friendship with Melissa is super cute🙂

7. I think it's just a different approach to Toga and Izuku as people. I'm not saying it's wrong or right, but I am saying approaching saving them in two different ways isn't outlandish. And she did stand up for him against am angry mob so I don't think it's right to say she didn't put in effort.

8. Plain isn't really an insult. True it's not exactly nice, but I wouldn't call it mean. She also had no idea of knowing he would see that footage.

i try to respond to every single comment, even when it's a reblog from a reader with feedback in just the tags, because i appreciate that someone took the time and effort out of their day to not only read my work but to also then tell me they liked what i poured my energy and heart into. <333 i appreciate every single one.

i like to think i'm good with descriptions, setting scenes, and getting readers immersed in the visuals of a story.

i can be wordy. also, i sometimes overthink characterization and probably fuck canon voices and actions up.

if you're respectful to the culture of the language you're writing in and actually do research instead of solely relying on Google Translate, more power to you.

Hmmm...

Okay, YamiChar is endgame for me, but I do agree when people say that it's not particularly interestingly written in canon, but more of a side comedy thing. Which it is. Charlotte's crush on Yami is supposed to give us the giggles and offer some lighy hearted twists to more serious events, not to mention that Char could be written better as a character.

That being said, I do like the premise of Charlotte being a strong and an independent woman who is doing her best to make it in a field that is dominated by men. But I do also like the idea that Yami's presence in her life leads her to try and be honest with her feelings, and to realize that loving someone doesn't make her any less strong. And Yami, I think, would gain someone who loves him for him. She does know that he's a foreigner and rugged, and he's... He's a lot of things, around which she didn't grow up. He's genuine. But since he has also faced a lot of discrimination, I think that he could really gain someone who truly loves him for him.

With Vanessa, I think of their relationship more as a platonic one. He did rescue her, too, and gave her her freedom. And they have more interactions and better written chemistry, because they're both among the main characters. But I do see them to be within the found family trope.

I could entertain YamiNessa as a romantic ship too, but for me I think that she looks up to him, and respects him as a Captain. She's flirtatious by character, and I don't see her having been (aside of the competition with Charlotte that seemed to be more about pushing Charlotte to come into terms with her feelings) overly flirtatious with Yami. And he sees her as a squad mate.

But what Yami wants remains to be seen, since, as per the latest chapters, he supposedly wasn't even aware of Charlotte's feelings. That's for the canon to reveal

The way they support each other and balance each other out. Magnus fears he's too much, Alec doesn't think he's enough; Magnus is flamboyant and dramatic, Alec is more reserved; they're both willing to sacrifice themselves for others, but because they're also willing to sacrifice themselves for each other, it balances out. Malec are just... very well-matched, imo.

my least favourite thing

(I will have you know this is very mean and a very hard question to answer.) uhhhh probably their communication problems? Like, I realise that a significant portion of the canonical breakups was mostly just... for Drama™, but in both book and show, there are some pretty significant communication failures. In the books, for example: the whole p511 breakup? BAD COMMUNICATION. Alec is (understandably) upset that Magnus isn't telling him about his past; Magnus is (also understandably, although mistakenly) worried that Alec would leave if he knew about Magnus' past. But because neither of them are willing to actually, yk, discuss this, Alec goes to Camille to learn about Magnus, and then Magnus feels betrayed and breaks up with Alec. In the show, the worst communication failure is imo the whole Magnus-losing-his-magic fiasco. Magnus gives up his magic because he thinks he comes second to Jace in Alec's life, which probably isn't true but Alec hasn't told Magnus that; Magnus refuses to tell Alec how much he's struggling with not having his magic; when Alec realises, rather than talking to Magnus about it, he goes off and makes a deal with Asmodeus which hurts them both.

my overall rating out of ten

11/10 Most of the communication failures I prefer to blame on the author not the characters, since a lot of it is actually kinda ooc imo. And Malec are just AMAZING, okay???

do I ship it + why

I SHIP IT SO MUCH that is probably obvious from my blog but. it bears repeating. (I already talked about the way they balance each other out, so I won't go over that again.) On the surface, they're very different in an opposites-attract kind of way: extroverted vs. introverted, warlock vs. Shadowhunter, cats vs. dogs (u can't change my mind, Alec is a dog person), etc. But underneath, they're actually very similar: they're both touch-starved imo (Shadowhunters aren't big on physical affection, Magnus was basically alone for the century prior to meeting Alec), they're both quite a bit more emotionally mature than Clary, Jace, Izzy, or Simon (Magnus is obviously way older, Alec had to grow up really fast & take care of his siblings from a young age), they both recognise all of the problems with the world and want to fix them, they're both subject to discrimination, they're both BAMFs who are extremely protective of those they love, they both had pretty sucky childhoods with bad father figures, they're both leaders for their respective groups... In my opinion, that type of dynamic — different on the surface, similar deep down — is the best type of relationship, because they're not carbon copies of each other, but they're also not diametrically opposed in terms of beliefs, experiences, etc.

headcanon/other thoughts

Immortality. To be completely honest, I feel like all of the resolutions to the immortality debate — Alec becomes immortal, Magnus becomes mortal, they stay the same — have upsides and downsides, perhaps in equal measure. Alec becoming immortal is a really common headcanon and definitely an attractive one — Magnus won't have to lose Alec! Alec loves him enough to stay with him! It's adorable & romantic & I LOVE fics that explore this idea. There are also a few hints at it in the show. It's probably unhealthy for Alec to become immortal purely for Magnus' sake, but it's not just about that for him: he can live longer to watch over his siblings & their descendants (and his descendants), he can keep the Shadow World changing and see all of his dreams through to the end, he can stay with any immortal children he has. But I'm torn over whether it's really feasible or not: okay, there are couples who stay together all their lives, and there's the whole "Shadowhunters love once" thing, but... can you really promise to stay with somebody forever? It's just a lot, and sometimes it feels like Alec is changing too much of himself for Magnus' sake. Magnus is living proof that immortality is as much a curse as it is a blessing, and is it right for Alec to be subjected to it, too? Even if they do stay together, they'll watch humanity make the same stupid mistakes over and over and over and over. Is that really a good future? I'm unsure. Magnus becoming mortal is a lot less common than Alec becoming immortal, but it many ways I personally find it more attractive. Immortality is a curse — Magnus has lived for centuries already, and it's somehow very fitting that with Alec (the first one to accept his eyes, the first one he's been with in over a century, arguably the one he's loved the most), he chooses to age and die with Alec. More importantly, he chooses to live with him: to go through life together, experiencing it all side-by-side without the spectre of immortality between them. In both the books and the show, there's plenty of angst to go around about Alec wanting Magnus to be mortal (show: when Magnus has lost his magic; books: the Camille debacle), but I think that in either case, that's not really a barrier to it since there were extenuating factors in the show and Malec's relationship really evolved from there in the books. For us — humans — spending our lives with somebody is considered the best outcome. I'm personally a fan of this idea. Option three is that everything stays as it is. This might actually be the least common headcanon, since it brings with it a necessary heartbreak: Alec is going to die, and Magnus is going to live on. But there's a quote in the books (maybe GOTSM?) which I can't remember exactly but it's something about how even after Alec dies, Magnus will go on, and all of the changes in the world that Alec makes will also go on. The world will be a better place for Magnus in the future because of Alec, and even if Alec isn't there anymore, I think there's something very poetic in it. Also, in both the books and the show, Malec struggle with dealing with Magnus' immortality and they eventually figure it out — isn't it kinda undermining that character arc to make one of them mortal/immortal? Honestly, there's a story to be told in all three — there's heartbreak and love in all three — and I find the concept really fascinating.

My mind immediately went to why Clary and Simon wouldn’t go, and combined with the sad lack of dæmon AUs in this fandom, this fic was born!

Prologue — Clary

Summary: Her mom was finally — finally — going to explain.

Clary doesn’t go to Pandemonium on her eighteenth birthday.

A/N: First chapter! This one’s Clary’s POV, but all of the following chapters will alternate between Alec and Magnus. (I’ll be posting the first Alec chapter in a few hours.)

Clary felt excitement bubbling in her chest. Hunter hopped eagerly around the room in his rabbit form, before leaping into the air, changing into a bird, a butterfly, and back to a rabbit again.

Her mom was finally — finally — going to explain.

Clary had first realised that she wasn’t normal when she’d been fourteen, and her dæmon still hadn’t settled. Hunter was often in rabbit form, but he could still change to any animal he wanted, while all of her friends’ and classmates’ dæmons had chosen a preferred animal and could no longer change.

She’d thought for a while that she was a late bloomer or something, but puberty had come and gone, and Hunter could still change shapes as effortlessly as ever. She’d grown increasingly worried about it, wondering what was wrong with her, until her mother had finally explained that there was, in fact, something different about Clary. And then her dæmon, Aaron, had shifted from his swan form to a different one.

Unfortunately, Jocelyn Fray had refused to explain anything more than that to her daughter. Instead, she’d declared that Clary was “too young” and promised to tell her everything — including why neither of their dæmons had settled into one form — when Clary turned eighteen.

Today was her eighteenth birthday, and also the day that she’d gotten accepted into the Brooklyn Academy of Arts. While she considered Simon’s offer of going to Pandemonium to celebrate, she wanted to know why she was like this. She’d waited four years; maybe she could’ve waited another day, but she didn’t want to.

So she said as much to Simon — he was the only person she’d ever told about Hunter — so they decided to save the celebrating for the next day.

Hunter leapt up on Clary’s lap, and she curled her fingers around him to keep him in place. “I know you’re excited and nervous, but I am too, and you’re only making it worse by jumping around,” she told him.

“I know, I know, but we’re going to find out why!” Hunter replied.

Clary’s response was cut short when her mother came in and sat down in the chair opposite Clary. It was almost formal for a moment before Jocelyn huffed out a laugh and wrapped Clary in a hug. “You’ve grown up so much.” Clary refused to have the oh-look-at-my-daughter-she’s-all-grown-up conversation right now; she wanted answers. “Are you going to tell me why Hunter can still shift?” she asked, cutting her mother off before she could start.

“Yes, I am.” Jocelyn smiled, looking slightly sad. “It’ll take quite a bit of history and context. I can only hope that you don’t hate me at the end of it.

“I probably wouldn’t have told you about all this if it hadn’t been for Hunter, but I need to explain everything else first. Take this.” She held out a long, thin, silvery-grey stick, shaped vaguely like a pen. “It’s called a stele, and it’s a bit of a family heirloom, I suppose.”

“We Frays have heirlooms?” Clary asked, surprised and somewhat sceptical.

Or, Indonesian is Magnus' mother tongue — the language he slips into when he doesn't have the presence of mind for anything else. Alec wants to learn.

The first time it happens, it’s only because Magnus is exhausted.

Between a series of demanding clients who he ranted about to Alec over text, not one but two rifts opening up and requiring a warlock to close, and then a horde of demons that had escaped through the second rift before Magnus had managed to close it, it makes perfect sense for Magnus to be tired out. Alec lent him strength to close the last rift, so he isn’t too magically exhausted, but the day was a long one, and Magnus doesn’t have the energy to keep up his usual walls.

“—kemarilah, sayang,” he murmurs half into his pillow, half to Alec. Sayang is something Alec recognises — Magnus started calling him that after they’d been dating a little while; he doesn’t know what it means, other than a probably-endearment in another language. He doesn’t recognise the other word, either, but he can wait to figure it out; for now, Magnus obviously wants Alec to come closer, and Alec obeys.

“Selamat malam,” Magnus mumbles, almost incomprehensible, curling an arm around Alec to pull him closer.

“Good night, Magnus,” Alec says, and he falls asleep with Magnus in his arms.

He looks it up the next day. Alec isn’t entirely sure how trustworthy Google Translate is, since it’s saying sayang is Malay for “dear” while kemarilah is Indonesian for “come here”, but he remembers that Magnus was born in Indonesia; when exhausted, he slipped back into his mother tongue.

It’s… actually kind of adorable, when Alec thinks about it; he’s sure that Magnus speaks more languages than he could ever count, and he speaks English impeccably, but it’s somehow heartwarming to know that when he isn’t watching his words, he still falls back on Indonesian.

Alec speaks fifteen different languages as part of his training in politics — enough to communicate easily with the Head of any major Institute worldwide; all of them speak English, yes, as that is the language of Alicante, but people are more comfortable in their native language and that can be essential. (Alec speaks six demonic languages, too, but that’s a different matter.) Indonesian, however, he doesn’t know — the Jakarta Institute is Indonesian, but a ley line fluke means that there aren’t many demons there and therefore not enough Shadowhunters to merit the status of major Institute. And even if Alec had learnt modern Indonesian, it probably wouldn’t match up with Magnus’ Indonesian, since a bit of research suggests the language had changed over the years.

He wonders if Magnus would like it if he learned, or if it’d be invasive — if Alec would be insinuating himself into an aspect of Magnus’ past where Magnus didn’t want him.

He plans to talk to Magnus about it, but between Valentine and the Soul Sword and Jonathan and all the chaos Clary brings, it never seems like the right time. I love you, he says, and Magnus says it back, but it’s only a few weeks later that Magnus walks away from him, from them, because of the stupidity of the secret Alec kept. Even after Valentine’s gone and they get together again, their relationship feels new, unsteady, uncertain; it feels like it might crumble if Alec steps the wrong way, so he watches himself and doesn’t bring up the question, though it hovers in the back of his mind. Especially when he sees all the pain that Magnus’ past has brought him; would Magnus want to be reminded of that?

Then, of course, there’s the Owl and Jonathan (again) and Lilith and Asmodeus, and Alec is too caught up in worrying over Magnus’ magic to ask. They go from exes to fiancés in under twenty-four hours, and then they’re married and Alec doesn’t think he’s ever been so happy.

Their wedding night, Magnus holds him close with a poorly-concealed desperation that speaks of days in Edom, not believing Alec would come. Alec hugs him back, because he, too, spent far too long believing that they were over. Magnus is here, in his arms, and yet Alec’s mind can’t quite trust in it, as though a breath of wind could shatter this perfect dream.

“Aku cinta kamu, Alexander,” Magnus says softly.

Those words, Alec knows. “I love you too.”

Magnus smiles against his chest, a hidden thing full of a love that, incomprehensibly, has been given to Alec; Alec’s own smile is pressed into Magnus’ — into his husband’s — hair, soft and silky against his face.

Alec wants to talk about Magnus’ past, wants to ask if he can learn Indonesian, too, but he’s exhausted and he’s barely slept since — he casts his mind back, trying to remember — since before Magnus broke down in his arms, the night of the failed proposal. After that, he’d been occupied with the pain in Magnus’ voice and the deal that he was considering; then he’d been unable to sleep for the ache where Magnus should be, combined with guilt for the pain he’d caused him; then Magnus had been in Edom, and Alec had been searching for a way to get him back, and— well. Alec hasn’t had a full night’s sleep in a long time.

Magnus isn’t much better, he knows, but the sleepy mumble Magnus gives against his chest quiets the aching fears and thoughts. Gently, they fall asleep.

“—tolong berhenti, tolong jangan sakiti aku,” Magnus is murmuring, soft and heartbreaking, voice cracked with pain. “Saya akan baik-baik saja, saya berjanji, saya tidak melakukan apa-apa, tolong.”

“Shh,” Alec says, pointlessly. Magnus can’t hear him; he’s deep in some delirium that Alec can’t penetrate, thanks to a particularly lucky demon that’d managed a hit before Alec had killed it. “Shh, love, I’m right here…”

“Aku tidak membunuhnya, pergilah,” Magnus continues. Alec doesn’t know the words — he wishes, more than ever, that he could’ve managed to learn more Indonesian than he has, and makes a vow to fix that as soon as possible — but he recognizes the tone. Desperation. Fear. “Maaf, ayah, aku tidak mau…”

(ik this idea has been brought up before, but i'm just. thinking about it a lot.)

Magnus with long hair — not super long, but long enough that he'll tie it back in a bun to keep it out of his face.

Long enough that Alec can braid it, little cute braids or longer ones, while Magnus is taking a nap with his head in Alec's lap.

Long enough for Alec to run his fingers through it properly, admiring how soft it feels.

Long enough that Magnus can brush it out, let it hang down if he doesn't want to style it.

Long enough that Magnus is almost insecure about what Alec thinks — is it too feminine, too different, too untraditional? — although Alec rather likes it than otherwise.

Damn, Skeebo got more b*tches than Shawn Mendez ever had-

I counted each love interest in other aus, 15 love interests in total, however 9 are actually loved, no one likes the other 6 for a reason idk why- So here are the top 9 in my opinion! Starting from 9 which is the bottom of the list.

9. Raphael/ Pac-Human AU: Pac-Humans are literally Pac-Worlders with a human body but they have the same skin color and magical like features. Raphael is a caramel-colored ghost with various white scratches on his body, (his body type is similar to Inky's) his favorite thing to do is being annoying, spooking people, and teasing Skeebo. He's way too clingy though.

8. Danny/ Demonic AU: The AU where Pac-Worlders are either ghosts, monsters, or demons. Danny was another yellow one that died during a ghost attack from Lord Stratos. (That's so weird to say-) He met Skeebo when he finished attacking the Round House, in this au, Skeebs was a Loverman, commonly know as the more poisonous version of Incubus. Danny has the same weird jealous energy that Pinky has except less extreme.

7. Robin/ Humanity AU: Where everyone is officially a human. Robin used to be a shy nerd at his middle school, and he knew Skeebs, he had a MAJOR crush on him. When he came to Maze High, he tried changing everything about him to impress Skeebo, but in the end, he reverted back to being nerdy since he got so comfortable near him.

6. Floyd/ Amnesia AU: The AU where Skeebo lost his memories. During the time, Floyd was a kawaii rival that absolutely hated Skeebo but he started falling for him when he started revealing a lot about himself. Their relationship stayed the same even after Skeebo gained his memories back from the experience, even if Skeebo didn't remember much from when he had amnesia, he did remember the heartfelt moments with Floyd.

5. Luka/ Outed AU: The AU where main characters struggled with revealing secrets. Luka was the son of a famous female author who was known for her beautiful and wise novels. He suffered from the judgements of the older generations, Luka doesn't like anyone who shows discrimination, he fell in love with Skeebo because of his grumpiness, he found it adorable!

4. Cisco/ Suicidal AU: (YES, SOMEONE SHIPPED THEM) Cisco being the first son of Specter Boltz and Betrayus Spheros is going to soon be the Nether Realm lord. At first he found Skeebo interesting since his ghost body was related to the revealing ghost species, Emoti, but he started falling for him because of the joy he got from being a ghost in the Nether Realm. Their ship dynamic is Hurt Being x Mr. Comfort. If he met our number one, he would get really overprotective and 'territorial' of the blonde bully we know.

3. Mason/ Demon Bait AU: The AU where Lasko, the demon realm under the Nether Region exists. Mason Praida is the demon prince of a powerful golden species named Enei, he was sent to Pac-Opolis to retrieve a gift for his forced-lover, the "gift" was something he kept to himself, Skeebo was the only Pac-person Mason felt understood by, their canon dynamic: Flirty x Angry Flustered. My favorite ship dynamic! 😂

2. Chako/ Sweet and Sour AU: The AU of a cultural Pac-Worlder who speaks with spirits. Chako Aishi Aikawa is the son of a well known doctor and family therapist, and he always strived to please his parents. When he moved to Maze High, surprisingly Skeebo was very kind towards him, just like Luka, he finds it cute when Skeebo gets grumpy, and he's able to calm him. Their ship dynamic is Person w/feelings x Hasn't fallen yet.

Bradley/ MMH AU: @xeo-kunsatan Is the owner of this beautiful young man, Bradley Spheros is the ALIVE son of Betrayus, he's a chill guy, but he can snap at any second. Before, he and Skeebo had a sort of 'rivals to lovers' relationship before it turned into 'Cuddles and Respect.' Bradley is my favorite since he's very empathetic and related to Skeebo in some levels, they're just perfect! 💕💕💕

I ship Tom Riddle and Ginny. Because Ginny is a pure blood, Tom helps her emotionally also Ginny falling in love with Harry's enemy instead is just 'chef's kiss'. Given how Tom is very abusive and shows huge discrimination and superiority complex to mudbloods I can never ship Tomione. I ship Harry x Hermione so much.

I respect your ship but I never could ship Tom x Ginny haha. I also wasn't really into Harry x Ginny in the books. There were clues of course but I wished Rowling fleshed Ginny out more as a character. She came a bit like a mean, popular girl to me and I guess I couldn't relate to that. However, I always felt "kinship" with Hermione while I was growing up and liked her immensely. She was an inspiraton.

As for ships....I need power plays 🤷‍♀️ and Ginny was never interesting to me as a character. Tom would naturally pair up with the Hermione in my mind because they are magically and mentally at odds (while simultaneously being the most talented/gifted/geniouses of their generation).

Hermione forcing Tom's worldview to shatter and crumble is part of the allure for me. Pissy Tom that just LOATHES himself for liking a muggle born. Power hungry Hermione that LOATHES herself for wanting someone so disgustingly VILE - but Tom is the only one who can keep up with her intellect and magical pursuits.

Ginny just doesn't do it for me.

I think I could ship her with Malfoy tho 😂😭, I found one fic I liked that was (i think) inspired by Boys over flowers with Draco x Ginny as main ship.

However, I also ship Harry with Malfoy 😂🤷‍♀️.

Okay so HUGE post time I'm just gonna throw this out to the near nonexistent tsukihide community, maybe the akekita community and whoever else would like to listen. SO.

I have an au that is essentially a Tokyo Ghoul x Persona 5 crossover au with a bit more of a complicated timeline so I'll run through some history on the main ship.

Tsukihide at this point started at some point after Kaneki had been turned ghoul- through a few connections and brief interactions, Shuu and Hide started to get to know each other, for varying reasons. Shuu, in the beginning, had full intention to hunt Hide but slowly realized that his feelings were more than hunger- and Hide, who was filling the Kaneki-shaped-hole in his life with Kaneki's heightened absence in his life as he trained to be the Eyepatch. Hide has realized by this point that Kaneki is a ghoul.

It's around the point where Shuu is making excuses for his eating habits that Hide realizes something is wrong; "I'm picky" turned into "I'm on a diet" turned into "I have bulimia." Hide is suspicious.

He keeps to himself for awhile, paranoid and waiting, but the attack never comes. He doesn't report Shuu knowing that it could harm Kaneki.

Then comes the war between the One Eyed ghoul and the Doves- more importantly, the sewer scene.

Some.. things, transpire between Kaneki and Hide, but it all happens very quickly- Hide begs Kaneki to eat him, Kaneki kisses him before biting into his face, Shuu arrives- knowing that Hide went to go try and help, in concern for his safety- Shuu stops Kaneki before he can kill Hide, and the rest is a mess.

By this point Hide fully knows Shuu is a ghoul but slowly they decide to stay together during Hide's recovery.

Over the next few years is a rocky path of Shuu not eating properly, terrified to scare away Hide and disgusted with himself, and Hide being concerned for his partner's health. But otherwise, they love each other dearly.

They've talked about goals, the simple ones and ones they may never have access to- marriage, children, a peaceful life together. It's not hard for them to conclude that most of these things are daydreams, but they keep them in mind anyway.

This is where the transition into the main AU occurs.

One night Hide takes the longer, more scenic route home from work- but one he knows is within Shuu's "territory." It's all fine up until he hears a baby crying softly from an alley. Taking the risk, he chooses to investigate, and finds exactly that: a baby, only a few months at best, crying, abandoned in a trash can. Being the kind soul he is, Hide brings the baby home in hopes to bring it to the police to be put up for adoption.

He informs Shuu of this when he gets home for obvious reason- only for Shuu to bring up the fact that it would be very dangerous, as what he has brought home is a ghoul baby; which, if turned over, would most likely be killed upon RC scan. After some conversation and a whole lot of planning, they decide to keep the baby as their own.

This baby will be named Yusuke.

Yusuke's toddler years are right in the middle of the dragon arc- his baby years being the rockiest however due to coinciding with Shuu's worst years of self-starvation which is now not only effecting him, it's effecting Yusuke as well- which results in the baby hurting Hide by biting his fingers so hard he rips off flesh. This is what eventually snaps Shuu out of his eating issues.

Yusuke is around 4 when they create synthetic food.

Once schooling becomes an issue, they homeschool him for a good bit- until he decides that he wants to go to school with the other children. Unfortunately, ghouls are still discriminated against, and unregulated teachers bully and humiliate Yusuke for his way of life- going so far as to force him to eat synthetic food in front of his class to make his classmates see his eyes turn. He struggles with the bullying and internalizes the remarks- beginning to resent Shuu and even try to eat human food. Despite a good few long, heartfelt talks with his parents, the problem doesn't truly begin to resolve until a new student arrives- a boy about Yusuke's age- by the name of Goro- who is also a ghoul. This boy quickly reports the teachers to his mother, Kiyoko, who in turn gets the attention of many other parents to shut the issue down.

The two boys become inseparable, which is a very useful coincidence since this brings their parents together. Kiyoko needs someone to watch Goro often, due to being a single, working mother, and Yusuke needs a friend to socialize with- it ends up working out well for both families.

Things are comfortable for the next few years- Hide and Shuu manage to get married, the children are happy, Kiyoko has someone to rely on, and synthetic food is available to most.

However, life is never so kind, which leads to the day that Goro starts briefly living with the Tsukiyama family, after his mother commits suicide.

They try to adopt the boy, but adoption is far more complicated now with newly implemented laws that bar them from adopting more children.

Yusuke is 10 when Goro is sent to foster care, and although they both attempt to stay in touch, the letters they send stop by the time Yusuke is 12.

However, by the arrival of Yusuke's 14th birthday, the receive a letter- with a number, name and address of Yusuke's best friend.

Life changed distinctly after that- it was clear that Goro had gone through many changes (although this was most deeply obvious to Hide) but seemingly remained with some portions of his personality, but much more polished and palatable.

The two became close again, which eventually led them to starting a romantic relationship together. This will remain until Yusuke is 17. However, for unknown reason, Goro has grown to be hostile and chiding towards Shuu and Hide when Yusuke isn't around.

This fateful year leads Yusuke to his new group of friends, the Phantom Thieves, after they help him recover from the discovery of his original past- Madarame, who let his mother die and claim it was a ghoul attack, that let him be left in the garbage to get eaten or starve. With the surfacing of the phantom thieves, a binge eater ghoul surfaces as well.

They're all quite close (as his relationship grows more distant with Goro as he grows busier and busier,) all except for the fact that they don't know that he's a ghoul. This causes a rift when they do find out- since many of the people that they apprehend are ghouls themselves. Along side this, Yusuke faces the growing issue of being a ghoul- desiring human meat. More specifically, Akira. This causes a spiral of self loathing to start.

The night they find out about his nature he avoids talking to any of them, opting to call his boyfriend- which results in the planning of a date.

Eventually, he has the talk with Akira, who reassures him that they don't mind that he's a ghoul, that he can't change that part of him but that doesn't make him a monster. Although this doesn't break the spiral, it lifts a weight.

This is until the date with Goro, who, while very lovingly comforting and supporting him, begins to twist Akira's narrative against ghouls. On top of this, he reveals information to Yusuke that will cause him to spiral further- the fact that Shuu was a gourmet, and that Hide was a Dove. He continues to drive Yusuke against his family, while also nurturing his ghoul desires- keeping his emotions high until he's exhausted. He takes care of Yusuke, letting him stay over, and letting him eat from his stash of "high end" synthetic food.

This drives a large wedge between him and his parents, who admit to hiding this information from him. They fight over this numerous times until finally talking it out after he has a panic attack due to the stress.

Normal events of the game transpire, and it slowly leads into Akira's arrest, which brings the identity of the binge eater and the black mask to light- Yusuke's own partner.

They send Yusuke to confront him instead of Sae, buying them time. In this cognitive world, he comes in to see Goro eating from the false Akira's corpse. Through a long, painful discussion- one that involves Goro offering Yusuke parts of his friend, and Yusuke using his kagune in retaliation- Goro admits to genuinely loving Yusuke in his own very fucked up way, but it was overpowered by his want for revenge against Shido. He also admits to the fact that he was going to keep Yusuke out of the charges for the phantom thieves, making sure that he wasn't put on the record for the crimes. Yusuke is deeply conflicted and decides to share only what was necessary. This leads to even deeper conflict and even guilt when Goro is assumed dead after story events.

It becomes less solidified near this point- but the idea is that they later meet again when Goro is dipping in and out of rehab, and eventually reform a very slow bond as Goro grows into a better person- possibly getting back together down the line and opening a small café together that's a safe haven for teenagers- mostly those of the ghoul, foster kid, and LGBTQ+ variety. However that is one of a few results that have been done in this au, another being that where Mishima (who is also a ghoul, and a close friend of Yusuke's due to being able to fully confide in him,) acts on his crush and forms a healthy relationship with Yusuke. Yet another is the slow forming bond Yusuke has with Haru, (another ghoul he knew briefly as a child,) that eventually turns romantic. Another being with that of Akira, as Yusuke is finally able to deal with his ghoul side and push away his desires, to form a balanced relationship. The last being a much sillier option, being with Ryuji, who ends up making such a mirrored relationship with Yusuke's parents that it slightly creeps them out due to just how many similarities there are.

So that's the TGxP5 mega post that's been sitting in my brain since 2020. It was lovingly created from a series of jokes that kept me and my friend sane through miss rona's world tour. There's one fanfic of this au (slightly changed for palatability) that's akekita on my Ao3, which is mostly Tsukihide fics. There's a whole fic for this that's unfinished but idk I might finish someday. If you have any input I would love to hear it and if you think some of this is wildly unhealthy do tell bc I was in a very not good place when I made this so enjoy
